Are these parts sufficient for a decent gaming computer?

Q: Are these parts sufficient for a decent gaming computer?

So I'm building a coomputer for my first time and have already selected parts that I think would be good. Not sure though as this is all new to me, but basically I just want a good computer capable of running a flight simulator in high quality graphics. So I just want to make sure that everything is compatable with each other, and if you have a part that would be better than what I have listed, please recommend. The list of parts I have come up with are as follows:

Case: Xigmatek Soundwave ATX Mid Tower

Power Supply: Cool Power Performance CP P600 204 pin ATX Power Supply w SATA PCIe & Dual 12V Rails

Mobo: MSI ATX DDR3 2133 Motherboard 970 Gaming

CPU: AMD FX 4350 Unlocked Quad Core Processor 4.2 4

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gb (2 x 4gb) DDR3 1600 MHz PC3 12800 240-Pin DDR3 Dual Channel Memory Kit

Optical Drive: Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM

Audio Drive: Asus Xonar DG Headphone Amp & PCI 5.1 Audio Card

Video Card: MSI GTX 960 Gaming 4G

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500gb SATA III 7200 RPM 16mb Cache Bulk/OEM

Then I will be installing Windows 7 Home Premium.

Thanks Guys!

Preferred Solution: Are these parts sufficient for a decent gaming computer?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Is there such a thing? So far Ive looked at the Slimline series of HP. Also a HP M7790e dual core 2.6 ghz, 2gbddr 667mhz, and 250gb harddrive. plus a GeForce 7600 256mb card. For about $1300. Any other suggestions?

Are you willing to build a computer yourself? You wind up saving a decent amount of cash, you know exactly what is in the 'box' and it is fairly simple to do.

I have a budget around 600-900

Some musts I guess are a decent video card, (i prefer 8800) idc what company or brand
19 inch monitor, (lcd) I'm using a AL19W Acer, wouldn't mind getting a second one
Blu ray drive? lol ( prolly takes this way outa my money range)
If not, any 2 drives would work fine for me (dvd of course, budget xD)
IDC about hard drive space, i don't have that much crap, (250gb would probably be more than enough)
EDIT:: o yeah, I like vista (i know i'm wierd) it will probably require 2gb ram like my current

Games i'm looking to play are HL2 mods etc., call of duty 4, diablo, starcraft, counter strike

Help me! thanks.

I'll check forums often to answer questions

I don't mind newegg purchases although i would prefer amazon (since no tax for CA residents)

hehe.

I need to know if all these parts are compatible with eachother because I am going to be setting up 3 monitors to this one computer. I play games and I want to be able to watch like a movie on one screen, play games on another screen and have music playing on the other (just an example). So are these parts good enough to be able to run any game on the highest damanded settings and able to be running other programs on the other monitors at the same time without any problems? Thanks!Click to expand...

Hmm, no.
To do that, you'll need to just run the game in windows mode and just throw it to the side, I think. I don't think you need a separate monitor to play music.

A:What parts would I need to build a good gaming computer?

What are you using the computer for? e.g. gaming (if so which games), video encoding or just general usage?
Does the budget include the monitor and peripherals and do you have any parts you're going to reuse (e.g. DVD drive, hard drive, case, etc.)?

A:Is this a decent gaming PC?

Hi EchoX860,

I'm not a gamer but I will voice my opinion. First of all, I don't see that combination as an overpowering rig but I do see some good and some questionable things if I were buying it. First off, is the price, I think it is too high if I were buying it and I can easily see where one could shave off a few hundred bucks by doing a self-build; however, it is understandable that one must pay for someone else to build it for them. So, here's what I like and don't like:

CPU: FX 6100 is somewhat low end for gaming IMHO but it might work (wait for the gamers)
http://www.microcenter.com/site/prod...d_bundles.aspx

16GB DDR3 - Great!

1TB HD - OK but I would rather see an SSD for boot/system drive and a larger spindle drive for storage.

GTX 640 - Sounds quite adequate but I'm not a gamer (wait for gamer comments).

PSU @ 450w - Seems underpowered for a gaming rig (wait for gamer comments).

Good luck.

The cheaper, the better.
I don't need a large monitor. I don't care for them in the slightest.
19" is what I'm shooting for. That makes it 4 inches larger than my laptop's already decent (for me) 15 inches.

And even if I did want a larger monitor, I'd have nowhere to put it.

I was looking at this model: ASUS VW193TR

It has a lot of good reviews, except one guy who had a bad experience with it.
I'll take that as an isolated incident.

A different guy mentioned that it wasn't for gaming.
I could understand that maybe it doesn't excel at gaming, but I don't see why it would be bad for gaming.

The refresh rate looks decent, and the response time is within the 2ms-5ms gaming range.

Is there something I'm missing?

A:Decent gaming monitor for under $150?

My personal opinion is always wired rather than wireless keyboards and mice for gaming.

I have always been a fan of Logitech mice and am currently using a G500 which is a nice bit of kit in my opinion. keyboards I have never been that bothered about, I am using a pretty bog standard one at the moment and it does the job as far as I am concerned.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102006

Creative makes some nice cards.

Depends on how much you want to spend but I'm guessing you'd want something like 24-bit, 96KHz+ with 5.1 channels or more for what your doing. You can spend a little more for a card with 192KHz. I'm sure this will improve your audio quality but from what I hear I don't notice much difference between on-board and a sound card, I figure they are better for people who deal more with audio editing and such, just to keep in mind if you buy a 200$ card you may not notice much of a difference. For gaming I'm sure it will help as well though.

The difference between PCI and PCI Express is that PCI Express has more bandwidth, its much faster. I'm not to familiar with sound cards so I don't know if buying a PCI Express card would make to much of a difference over a PCI one.

Take a look here and you can read up on it, their is a nice chart a bit down that tells you the speeds of the different PCI slots.

http://www.directron.com/expressguide.html

That looks like one crazy build you've got anyways, lucky >;D

So I currently have an NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT graphics card, it it works pretty well for the games I play. However, Sonic Generations (a game I purchased through a Steam game sale), runs slowly and gets anywhere from 18-11 frames per second. Even on it's lowest quality settings and lowest resolution (720 x 480 @ 29Hz) it's still a tad slow.

Any suggestions on an upgrade? I have a budget...I mean, I'm a college student, after all...

A:Decent Graphics Card for Gaming on Windows 8?

Two things:

You might get more responses if you gave a budget for the card.

Your 300W power supply is a bit weak for most significant upgrades. For example, Sapphire (www.sapphiretech.com) requires a 400W PSU for their cards that don't use any auxiliary PCI-E power connectors. If you need to swap the PSU, stay with the respected manufacturers (Antec, Corsair, Seasonic are usually recommended, but there are others.)

I'm browsing around on newegg for a new gaming headset but all the quality headsets I see in the 30-70$ range are noise-cancelling. My brother and I LAN often so I would prefer non-noise cancelling headphones (plus I find anything things that completely cover your ears to often be uncomfortable if gaming for over an hour).

This is the best I've managed to find so far : http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104319&Tpk=logitech Gaming Headset G330

According to various reviews they have great comfort, mediocre durability and sub-par sound and voice quality, and are only somewhat noise cancelling.

I think the noise cancelling and great comfort outweigh the need here for quality sound and voice quality. If I'm going to watch a movie or listen to music I will use the speakers.

Edit: Must have a mic.
Edit2: Apparently newegg does not ship to Canada?

Thanks!

A:Decent headset - not noise cancelling for gaming?

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826158082

I have a pair of these. They are circumaural but the cushions are fairly soft, and they don't hurt my head or ears after extended gaming. They do get a little warm. They sound pretty good, but I turn down the bass a bit on my sound card so explosions don't drowned out important details I might need to find other people on a map.

newegg.CA should deliver to Canada maybe you have a different issue you're not fully aware of yet.

A:Need Help with selection of parts for gaming PC

Here's a system for ya:

CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz - $218
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115004

Motherboard - ASUS P5N32-E SLI - $299
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131073

RAM - 2048MB Dual channel Corsair XMS - $315
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145168

Hard Drive - Seagate 320GB SATA - $95
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148140

Video Card - eVGA 8800GTS - $450
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130071

That is a pretty damn powerful system and it comes to $1377. That leaves around $600 to spend on a monitor, additional hard drives, a case, another 8800GTS for SLI, CPU coolers, power supplies, mice, keyboards etc. Anything else you need for the system can probably be purchased for $600.

Hello guys I was talking to my parents and they said for my birthday in august they might give me $200 for a budget gaming pc build I already have the case, DVD drive, hdd's, and I need somthing that can play BO2 I need a Mobo, PSU, CPU, GPU, I think thats all what could you guys reccomend me some parts?

EDIT: Oh and I need to stay with DDR3 ram I already have tons of ddr3 ram

A:Parts for a budget gaming PC

Man, $200 isn't really enough to get yourself a proper build, even without the parts you listed. If I were you, I'd wait until I had a good $400-500 dollars before you begin to think about a gaming PC.

If that isn't possible, for whatever reason, check out teksyndicate's cheap *** gaming rig.

Im buying alot of stuff for a new computer. I wanted to ask if these parts would all work together and will it play all the latest games.

Asus M2A-VM Socket AM2 AMD690G + ATI SB600 Chipset Dual Channel DDR2 800/667/533 Integrated ATI X1250 Graphics Micro ATX

A-DATA DDR2 800 240pin 4GB Kit (2x2GB) Unbuffered-DIMM Non-ECC Memory

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ (65W) Dual-Core Socket AM2

XFX GeForce 8800GT 512mb

and will this case fit with my motherboard
Antec Three Hundred Gaming Case ATX 3/0/(6) 2xUSB Audio No PS

A:Buying new gaming parts.

Not really sure on the overall setup, but something I will say is it may be worthwhile getting an aftermarket GPU cooler for that card.

I have an XFX 8800GT which is factory overclocked and had quite a few problems with it at first. After investigation it would appear they can (but not always) have problems when the GPU goes over 75C (which isnt uncommon on stock cooling, a lot of people had problems).

I stuck a Thermalright HR-03GT on mine with a 90mm fan and it runs like a dream now, maxing out at around 50-52C when stresstested.

Hey everyone,

I joined this forum today seeking help. The reason I am putting together a PC is because I am not sure why my graphics card does not suffice to play GTA V that I've had installed for a while now. It seems any game I purchase off of Steam, the graphics requirements always outweigh what I seem to have.

I will be very honest here, I am not sure exactly what I am doing. I have very little knowledge on putting together a PC, but my current PC is a previously built one from a friend. I haven't been able to figure out what lacks with my current system. I will attach my PC's current stats and components I hope you can infer anything you need from that.

Goal: Play GTA V on my PC with great resolution (Currently can't even play on low resolution settings)

Case: Thermaltake Chaser A71 Computer Case
Power Supply: Max 500W

The Ultra is not dependable over time... It has wide swings in output under stress.
Look at the EVGA and MSI boards, and Zalman cooler for dependable quality parts at low cost.

Building my first pc, looking for some advice on which parts to buy, here's some info:

* I want to build a gaming PC
* I want to spend about $900-1000(that's not including shipping/tax to keep things simple).
* I live in California, USA
* I want to buy from newegg
* I am not reusing any old parts from an earlier build
* I haven't bought any parts yet
* I do not need any peripherals
* I don't have an OS and I want windows 7 home
* Since this is my first time building a PC, I would like to avoid liquid cooling and stick with fans, I also don't plan on overclocking.
* Full size case is fine; I don't plan on moving PC for lans etc.
* I do modding on an older game which has trouble with radeon drivers, so I want a nVidia card.

All help is appreciated

Hi guys. Can you suggest about what a power supply could be more than enough for a PC? For hardcore gaming. lol thanks

A:Power supply parts for Gaming

Corsair AX850W
A few more details, such as your definition of hardcore gaming. Opinions vary wildly.
Essentially the rule is Single GPU, 750W. 2 GPU's 850W 3 1000W+

Never cheap out on a PSU for 'hardcore use'. Always go with a reputable brand.

A:Buying Parts For Building a Gaming Desktop

Don't get Velociraptor. Get a 1TB WD Black instead.
Caching drive: uses the HDD for files, but stores commonly-accessed stuff on the SSD.
For best performance, get an SSD and use it for OS and core productivity programs. Then store games/media/documents on the HDD.
Don't need additional LAN card.
Why are you buying an additional audio card? It's nice, but your mobo comes with a decent one to begin with.
It's probably cheaper to get TWO dual-channel 2x 8GB RAM kits, instead of the quad-channel one.
Maybe spend a little more on CPU cooler, since you're getting the top GPU too. May I suggest a ~$100 all-in-one water cooling kit.
120GB SSDs are better value these days.

A:Decent Computer Bogged Down

After three years, with probably no routine maintenance and no anti-malware used on continuous basis, it would probably be much easier, faster, and certainly more thorough, to wipe the hard disc clean and reinstall Windows. Just make absolutely sure you have archived anything they think important (family pictures, etc.) first.
This would give you time to review security best practices, etc., with them so that the problems would not repeat themselves.

I am looking for a decent computer === not the word decent, not the slowest POS out there, but something halfway decent. The problem is, all I see are AMD processors that are close to this price point. I know schmee about AMD processors, as I have always bouth Intel (I have heard you get more bang for your buck with AMD, but I don't know how the processor speeds would match up). Can someone point out a pretty good laptop with an AMD processor for close to $300?

Hello, I have been on a long journey to try to make my computer good enough to be World of Warcraft worthy. I was trying to upgrade my parents' Dell Dimension but was having no luck (First, it is almost non-upgradable in the first place thanks to Dell, and second, we had a $100 Dell Giftcard that I was using to upgrade our computer which we got a month ago and we placed the order and it still hasn't been confirmed). Now i am just really mad so I'm gonna try and buy a totally new computer (I wanted one for my room anyways). So, to the point. I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a decent gaming computer with plenty of upgrades available, the only catch is that it can't be over $1000 and if possible $700 or less would be awesome!
Thanks in advance,
Tenko

Hi Craws,

You pretty much have your answer. WoW's 5.0.4 patch has altered the graphics and a lot of people are having issues with it. It seems V-Sync is helping a lot of people since it keeps your FPS stable with your refresh rate, give it a try. Other than that, you'll have to sit tight and wait for Blizzard to release a fix.

It might help to forward your issue/specs on this topic of the WoW forum: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/6471627152?page=2

If you do come up with a fix however temporary, make sure you post it for others to view.

If you still have issues after the following patch, be sure to drop another post.

Hello everybody,
Here is the thing, yesterday i was at a friend's house and i realized that Runescape was running flawlessly on his laptop that has lower specs then my computer.
When i play Runescape, it's always super laggy, even in a low ping world, even with low options, and i'm really getting tired of it.
I know i don't have a high end PC anymore, but i think it should still run Runescape smoothly? Let alone on the lowest settings...
Here's my specs:

(Edit: Correct system specs. posted in later post.)

Thanks already!

A:New computer im building--decent? suggestions?

How much are you willing to spend and do you want to SLi / Crossfire ( 2 videocards ) and exactly what games are you playing? Oblivion and other games with such high-end graphics will need a 7900+ or games like WoW will only need like a 6800 to run with pretty good FPS ( around 40-50 )

Also you can have Multiple HDs if you really want more space but since you're just a gamer you wont really need more then about 250g because games only take up like 3-4g each

Here is my build which should be able to run any game:

Hi i have a relatively good computer I think the hardware specs are in my signature. so could you guys please help me out, is there some benchmark program I can run to give u more info on my hardware and drivers?

Im getting horrible fps in cs;source especially. I use to run it perfect a few years ago.
I am almost at the point of getting a NEW VIDEO CARD but I cant afford one so I would like to fix the problem. also I heard I can flash my Ati All-In-Wonder 9800Series 128mb agp card, to a ati All-in-wonder 9800 PRO, making the ram go faster. any ideas?

A:I have a decent computer, horrible fps and most games lag.

I think i will go with the flashing the video card route I was wondering whats the best way to make a 'dos boot (cd rom)'.

But another worry I have is I heard some cards can easily overclock without the flash to the same speeds, wich I have achieved but the performance has not improved much. I am wondering is that all the flash will do? maybe not worth flashing? and potentially wrecking card I love the project tho im just unsure about how to conquer this FPS beast.

A:Sudden poor performance in a decent computer (Win 7 64-bit)

Hmmmmm....... you say you've ran more than one malware scan and a anti-virus scan. I would run a sfc/scannow first to check for any corrupted system files. (see link for tutorial) But simplest things first. Have you tried a restore to before this problem started? I would also look to the drivers for your graphics card. Either uninstall and reinstall or rollback to an earlier one if you've updated it recently.

A:Building a Gaming Computer Gaming Low budget. Help.

The only thing that's missing is the power supply (the "PSU"), but we should wait until you select a CPU and video card - especially the video card. The PSU is an investment, so we have to make sure it's a good one.

Anyway,

RAM:

Go for a 2 x 4 GB kit or 2 x 8 GB kit. Your only choice right now is DDR3. The cost can vary from roughly $50 USD give or take $10-$20 to almost $200 USD and more.

CPU:

Which i5? 2nd Generation, 3rd Generation, or 4th Generation Core i5? The cost should be at around $200 give or take $10 to $20 USD.

Video card:

Try to avoid being loyal to one side or the other (NVIDIA or AMD) because some AMD GPUs are way better, but some NVIDIA GPUs are better.

The 128bit or 256bit is the bandwidth of the memory. The higher the number, the faster the memory can be in some ways.

The amount of memory you'd want is about 2GB, yeah. The more the merrier, but it mostly benefits textures.

You can go for any video card you want, but the GT 640 might not be an appreciable upgrade from the 410m. You'll notice it, but I dunno...

HDD:

Yeah, this is a little bit of a personal thing because take me for example: I have two 60 GB solid state drives and it's all I need. One is for Windows and programs, and the other is for things like My Documents and even my desktop.

Like the power supply, the hard drive is a bit of an investment, so try to get good ones.

Motherboard:

Not really. I would also like to see you build it instead of making someone do it for you. That way, you can make sure it's done right the first time. You won't need to know how to do anything because you can lean on us.

I also recommend posting this thread over on Overclock.net, but make it clear that you're not overclocking. They are very good at building computers.

I have a 466 Acer (pc 100 system board) and I'm told that my hard drive is bad. My power supply might not be up to par either. A friend of mine gave me her old computer. It is a Compact 7360. She was told her mother board was bad. Is there a way I can take these two computers and make one good one out of them?
Could you tell me approximately how much it would cost to fix either of these computers.
Thank you in advance for any info you can give me.
Thanks again,

A:Can I use parts from a mini computer in a midi computer?

Well, you could probably use her hard drive and perhaps even her power supply if it has the same connectors to the motherboard as yours has....I believe both systems use the same sdram chips, so you might be able to boost your ram on the Acer machine as well....good luck.

Getting ready to start ordering parts for a new computer I am going to try and build. Going to buy the parts one at a time when I see a good price. Is there a certain order I should purchase each part? Also any advice on storing the parts?

Thanks Danboy

A:Computer Parts

well if you are building a computer, the basics you need are

1. a tower with a decent powersupply 500wats or better 50-60$
or more

2. motherboard and processor of your choosing that is in your budget 180-500$ or more

3. the fastest ram that will work for your motherboard that is in your budget at least 512 megs = 30=100$

4. a hard drive. i feel for right now 40-80 gig is plenty 40-200$

5. at least a cd rom. and a floppy drive if you have a windows that needs floppies for cdrom 20-50$ floppy drive 5-30$

6. (opitional) if you want high speed internet you will need a lan card (unless built in to the motherboard) or a modem if you have dial up internet. 10-40$

7.(opitional)sound card if you do not get a motherboard that does not have a sound chip built in you will need a sound card. 10-300$
the above is in my opinion what you need for a basic computer.

most computer parts come with an antistatic bag. so just keep dry and in a place where they wont get crunched (or you can start puting the computer together your parts should be safe in your tower )

A:Help me buy/add some new parts to my computer! (yay)

It really depends what you want the machine for - The weak points I see with the current machine:Video card is low end so not really suitable for gamingPower supply is cheap and not something I would trust4gb RAM is somewhat low these daysOnly has a mechanical hard driveSo I'd look into upgrading one or more of the above depending on what you want from the machine.  For gaming you would need to get a better video card (and a power supply from a reputable brand, don't trust the one it has with any sort of decent video card).  An SSD to hold your operating system and programs would help it start up and launch programs faster (and generally feel more responsive in general use).  RAM is bearable if you aren't doing loads of multitasking but if you find yourself running low on RAM it could be worth looking into bumping this up to 8gb.As to what parts to go for it really depends on what you want to upgrade along with your budget.

well I recently found a poor little computer sitting on the side of the road. being the person I am, I decided to take the little guy home and give him another chance at life.
So I added some of my other old parts I had lying around, in vain hope to give the poor old guy some life support.
thing is, I quickly got bored with the terrible components and have since come to the conclusion to put the damn thing out of it's misery.

here is my question to you though.

What can I do with these old crappy parts?

just in case it matters, here are the specs:

CPU: intel centrino 2GHz Dual Core
RAM: 2gb (2x1gb) DDR2
MoBo: some crappy M-ATX
Graphics card: GTX 250
PSU: 320W
ODD: generic lightscribe
HDD: 160GB WD Caviar Blue.
Case: was in no condition to even have in my room. threw it away.

Thanks for any replies guys

Does anyone know how i can save some money building computers? I've been doing that for a while but resellers are quite expensive. I build between 4 to 6 computers per month for my friends and family.

Looking to upgrade my motherboard. Not sure if I should keep the same socket for the cpu (fm2) or go with am3 and get a new cpu also. Can look at my computer specs near my name. Looking for a better motherboard

I am planning to try a build in a little while but I don't know many places in the UK where I can obtain the hardware and items needed for building myself.

So are there some of the UK members that could please advise me of places to buy the gear and at reasonable prices?

A:Computer parts

Yes mate, I use Aria, Overclockers, Scan and Ebuyer. All have a great choice of parts and I have not had any issues with them.

Can I take a Hard Drive and RAM from one computer and put it into another and how do I use both HHD one is 98 and the other is XP.On the 98 HHD I can't get online but can with the XP

Also in the computer with XP (thats the one I am wanting to put parts into) there are 3 slots for the memory how can i tell which sticks have more RAM So I can install more RAM

A:Take parts from one computer and put into another

You can install the ram ONLY if it is the correct type ie ddr1, ddr2, etc.

Next you can connect a drive to a working system and copy data files. If you think you will be able to boot the system from the drive you add, almost all of the time that will fail.

Is there a way I can find computer parts online by filling in the motherboard type and the parts needed?
Mother Board: (Dell) Foxconn LS-36 REV A02
Processor Pin Type: mPGA478B
# of Ram Slots: 4
Ram Volts: 2.5V
More Ram Info...idk what they are: on the ram slots it says 92 and on the ram switches it says: 04.128
Power Volts: 12V

I need ram sticks, a processor, a power box and a fan.
Recommend the cheap and the most reliable.
Thanks,
Andrew Leslie

Hello,

My question is pretty simple.I need a place that I can buy my computer parts.(Except newegg because I hear so many times on forums before.)

A:I need computer parts

Newegg is probably one of the best.

If you go to pricewatch.com you will see many suppliers. Check some of their feedback comments before ordering.

Where do you buy your computer parts in Canada?

A lot of parts are a lot pricier than NewEgg's about everywhere and NCIX, VibeComputers and TigerDirect are not often have higher prices than my local shop. Any other place? (If in USA, with shipping options that don't cost a LOT of custom fees?)

A:Where do you buy your computer parts in Canada?

if it's being shipped from the US, then there's no way to avoid the customs fee. no reputable company will lie about the value of the items being shipped in order to pay a lower customs fee.

I was going to suggest tigerdirect, but you say that they charge more than your local shop... so what's wrong with your local shop?

Hey,

I am making my brother a new PC rig from used parts and a couple of new parts.

Here it goes:

CPU AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
Motherboard MSI 785GM E51
GPU 9800 GT - possibly some update in the future
PSU I am not sure what wattage I should consider.
HDD his current 80 GB one
RAM his current 1GB - possibly updating to ZEPPELIN 4GB KIT DDR3 1333MHZ Gold
Case Eurocase ML5425 Cardo
CPU Cooler Probably stock cooler. I was thinking about some slight OCing, moving the multiplier up a notch.
DVD Drive Current one

The big issue for me is the PSU.(if there are any other issues or some components should be changed, please let me know).
I don't know what should be the ideal PSU. Would a 450 to 500 watt be enough.

Thanks in advance

Yes, something in the 450 to 500 range should be plenty for the components in this build.
