I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Limited Access

Well its probably the school network, do you have to register the machine with the network and enter passcodes etc. That sounds like it maybe the issue.

Also I would take down that stuff you posted with your subnet, IP, etc, its alot of personal information about your PC thats a little too much if you catch my drift.

Back on subject, I would first check if you have to register it or something first, then we can go from there.

I have been using wireless internet on my laptop at work without any problems, until a few days ago. Now when I try to get online, I get a message saying connected with limited access and at the bottom of my screen where the status of the internet comes up, it has a caution sign, that says limited activity. I cannot get on line, but it says that I have an excellent signal. Please help.

Hi Firstly I am not very computer savy so would ask that any assitance or help given is on simple terms - Thanks

I have 2 dell laptops running off the same router and have been working fine for the last 6 months.

One of the laptops has all of a sudden switched to saying limited access on the proset icon. After reading threads etc. I have re booted the laptop & router, tried connected by wire with no avail.

The machine is running very slow and I am wondering if this isn't the olnly fault. As I wanted to try re installing the wireless driver but I cannot get onto the uninstall a programme window- it just doesnt load.

Any suggestions?

A:limited access on wireless, also cannot access programme uninstall

It sounds as if the laptop may be near the end of it's life cycle. Could we have any more info that you can provide?

A:It sometimes says connected or limited access but no Internet access.

Hi PK2,
Sounds more like you game caused the problem.
Revert the DEP settings, hopefully that will give you your internet back.
If that fails try your OLDEST restore point.

You will NOT have to buy W7 again, your comp has a factory restore option, possibly in the Dell program files, or via your Bios.

Im assuming your other problem is a BSOD.
Go Control panel >> device manager >> update your graphics card and Network adapters, and are there any marked with an ! or a small black down arrow or Problem devices.

I bought a Medion Laptop 5 months ago running Windows 8.1 with no problems at all.
I hadn't got it switched on for a couple of weeks until Sunday past.
But I could not connect to the internet. It said I had limited access to the net but I have none at all.
I reverted back to factory settings not once but twice but still the same problem.Switched the router on and off numerous times.Every other internet based appliance in the house is working perfectly.I took it down to a friends house and connected first time.I know this is a Windows 8.1 problem as I have trawled through the internet seeking a solution.Every conceivable solution I have seen, ihave tried but with no luck.
Can anyone at all help me .Getting desperate now.

A:Limited Access To Internet With 8.1......In Fact No Access

"Limited" access usually means you can connect to an internal network (LAN) but not the an external network (a WAN i.e. Internet).

You can go to the Control Panel >Network & Sharing Center. Does it show the map with a "red X" before the Internet icon?
If so, click on it and let the troubleshooter start.
Maybe you need to use the "Connect to a Network" setup choice.
Are you trying to connect only by Wi-Fi, or did you also try with Ethernet cable connected to laptop?

Hi guys,

I recently got my connection and use a laptop to connect wireless. It's a nice and fast (to me) cable connection and is always connected. But after awhile and it varies on time, it goes to "Limited Access" and the net goes out, but my laptop says I am still connected. It's fairly frustrating and I don't understand why it could be doing this.

I'm running Windows 7.
My modem is a SMCD3GN.
My laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-NW240F.

I am a complete noob when it comes to networking.

Ok, so I just got a new computer, OS is Windows 7, and when I connect, it says I have limited access, and the internet doesn't work. My old computers were Windows XP, and my router is Netgear, so it says I must have a bunch of other computers. Am I able to fix this so I can have full access with out buying something and with out uninstalling Windows 7, or do I have to buy a new router?

Have you tried the Network and sharing Center built into Win 7? You can access this from the Control Panel.

A:limited access

Hi, welcome to Seven forums.

Did you try any other device to see if that is getting connected to the wireless network? If yes, then the issue might be with the laptop. I will suggest to update the LAN and wireless drivers online. Make sure the drivers are properly installed and if any update is available install that as well for both LAN and Wireless.

Keep us posted.

i have moved to netwroking forum

can we have some details
make and model of modem / routers

any other devices connected - do they lose the connection

post back the following information when its all working and again when it disconnects

status of all the router and modem lights

ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste

Type the following command
Ping {plus the number thats shown against the default gateway shown in above ipconfig /all}

A:limited access

Not A GURU, Can it be assumed that you are trying to connect via wireless? If so then you might have to take a look at your wireless settings to make sure that you are trying to connect to the correct wireless network. Or your wireless adapter might be turned off.

If it is hard wired, then you need to check your Ethernet adapter settings to make sure that the power is on? If so, can you see blinking lights where the wire goes into your computer to the Ethernet board?

Seems like your pc is connected to a wifi and a cable now.

Try to disconnect your wifi or your cable to see if it works.

My wifi connection on my personal laptop says im connected but with limited access. No matter what I do, nothing seems to work. I connected directly to my router with the cable and still nothing. The day before it happened I was useing it and it worked fine, except I was having downloading issues, so I did the F8 thing where you can start your system to a earlier time. I did that in hopes of my downloading problem to go away. The next day I start up my laptop and it says "Limited Access." What do I do? I even popped off the thing on the back and removed that small rectangular thing and put it back in like some other posts suggested. Im at a loss here.

Hey, well basically when I got home and turned on my computer all of a sudden my wireless internet wouldn't connect. I have no idea why because it has always worked relatively fine. I've tried the diagnose thing... disconnect then reconnect, disable enable, restart computer and restarting the router. None of this has worked so far. All it keeps saying is connected with limited access. Anyone know what the problem is? Oh yeah and I also scanned for viruses etc, didn't find anything. All help will be much appreciated.
Kthx, Ckens.

This probably won't help but I'll just give you the name of my wireless thingy. NETGEAR WG311 v3 54mbps wireless PCI adaptor

I recently just got a laptop for college.Today I tried to connect to the internet and it's connected but its says Limited access. I have been looking online to fix this problem and they say to go online. But when I open a browser I can't connect. I was wondering how I fix this? I have a cable that connects to my router. But it's still saying limited access to any internet connection that I can use (ex. wireless, cable). But I don't know how to fix it. It says that it's connected but it's unable to identify the problem. If anyone could help it would be great!

A:Connected but says limited access

"Limited access" means that your system is connected to the router, but the router is not getting connected to the internet. So the problem is with your cable connection and/or cable provider, not with your system or router. Contact your cable provider to correct the problem.

Hello! Im hoping someone has a solution for me. Running windows XP sp2. Have some form of virus that will allow me to access some sites and others it either takes me to a generic search engine or a page that advertised movies, etc. I can't dl any of the sites you recommend for removal of such things bacause it either opens up a new page with an address in the toolbar and never gets to it (I've even left it search over night) or as stated it will go to a generic web page. I cant even access my bank account anymore. It goes to the login page and the page stays blank. I did run Hijack this however I'm not quite shore what I'm looking at! Any suggestions?

Thanks

Just a point. If you've no access to the internet, how have you posted this thread?

You haven't told us the exact model of the laptop, so you'll need to choose from this link: HP G62-100 Notebook PC series*-* Download drivers and software - specify product name - HP Business Support Center

Download the wireless adapter driver and save it to a USB flash drive, which you can then connect to your daughter's laptop and install the driver from there.

Network Manager Suite is a software program developed by Guardian Technologies. Upon being installed, the software adds a Windows Service which is designed to run continuously in the background. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. The setup package generally installs about 20 files and is usually about 6.79 MB (7,114,966 bytes). Relative to the overall usage of users who have this installed on their PCs, most are running Windows 7 (SP1) and Windows 8. Most users that have installed this software come from the United States.

so it looks like something was installed that uses that guardian software

Hi there
I am using window 7 home primium 64bit on my Asus laptop.
I had connected the internet at 4 am, but I couldn't have connected the Internet from 9 am til now. The wireless network connection shows 'limited access'.
My roommates can access the Internet by their laptops and I'm using my iPod touch to write this now.
I believe there is no problem in Modem or router. It is not about security key issue, too. I was using the Internet even in the early morning.
It is very weird that the Internet doesn't work although I didn't do anything but shut down and turn on my laptop.
I have been searching websites but I couldn't have found the same problem like mine.

Please help me smart guys.

A:Limited access issue

Hi Bravemarine1611,

Have you tried to disabled/enabled your Wireless connection. Click on Start => control panel => network and internet (or network and sharing) => network options => manage network connections, select your wireless network and right click on it, disable first then try to enable. Check your connections after.

Do you have a wireless Switch to turn on/off your wireless connection? Maybe a combination of Fn + F1 or F2 to enable your wireless connection?

Have you Power Cycled your devices in this order?
http://www.labnol.org/tech/power-cyc...-router/13625/

Any Firewall or Security software installed?

Remove and reconnect your wireless network profile, make sure that you type in the correct security key. http://www.home-network-help.com/del...s-network.html

Hi,

I have a local wireless network at home so that my wife can connect to the Internet on her home-office computer downstairs. We are using a Linksys wireless router and it works fine. Her operating system is Windows Me and the my upstairs computer is under Windows XP. So my son came home this weekend with his new laptop with a built-in wireless connection. His computer is using the Vista 64-bit operating system. We found out network all right and I entered the security code in the screen that came up asking for it but we could only access the network and not the Internet through the network. The message was "limited access". And the connection was listed as excellent.

Does anyone have any idea on what I can do to give his laptop computer full access to the Internet through our home network?

Thanks.

I have a problem with my computer and its connectivity to the Internet. This is only my computer in the house that has this problem. So the monitor icon on the bottom right of the screen has a red x on it. When I click on it, it shows the Internet I'm connected to but says "limited access" on it. I didn't have this problem before but this has been happening for a while. Internet browsing has been a lot slower. I tried troubleshooting, updating drivers, disconnecting and reconnecting, deleting some unneeded networks, but nothing works. Problem still persists. I am running wireless connection. Please help and thank you all

A:Windows 7 limited access

This usually means that your Wireless card sees the signal and attempts to connect but cannot obtain a valid IP

Open command prompt, (click start, Type cmd in the search box and press enter)
then type ipconfig and press enter.
What is your IP address? / default gatway.

Has the wireless password changed recently?.
Have you tried removing the network completely and then re-connect?.
Go to Control Panel - Network and sharing Centre - Manage Wireless Networks, Remove yours from the list and close. Then bottom right, right click on the wireless Icon, then select "connect to a Network"
Enter your Wireless code. Then Test.

I am having a similar issue thus last week, no or limited internet access which I think is due to driver issues. Mine is a hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc, don't know where to find model number. I have had the blue screen flashed once or twice and the laptop freezes when I'm.working in word or on the net due to driver that requires updating. I've tried to download when I was connected and it did nothing. I'm running win7, 64-bit os. So, what do I need to do to get my laptop working again? Also, I've been told by ex-computer geek friends that security/ updates for office 2003/2007/2010 and security update and update for win7 fir x64 base systems are not necessary. Is this true??I'm totally clueless in this field.Much appreciatedJulz

About two months ago my internet connection basically disappeared suddenly while I was playing an online game Confused I went through all the normal channels I follow when internet trouble shows up resetting this or that diagnostics checked everything I could The only time I ve never been able to fix my own computer or network was when with Connected access. limited the problem was outside my control When I finally came to the conclusion that my modem was the issue I called tech support and went through the entire process again complete with a screensharing session that checked all the settings I already had and even though no settings were changed I was told quot Well I ve done all that I can to speed up your system and there s still a problem quot I m over it now but I sat on hold for literally minutes waiting for tech support that only confirmed that I know what I m doing that is precisely why I learned how to do all this stuff -- to avoid tech support However I Connected with limited access. was told to check my WLAN card to see if it Connected with limited access. was working Windows said yes but just to be sure I reinstalled the drivers Nothing changed I bought a whole new WLAN card and installed it Nothing changed I got fed up and disabled it bought a WNA USB-N Adapter and it seemed to get better but never quite got back the gusto it had before I moved to South Korea home of the world s fastest internet and my browsing speed is crap My download upload rate is over x what it was in the states but I can t watch streaming videos and even streaming music stalls sometimes waiting for the load The reason I m posting this unnecessarily long story is to say that I was using the WNA s Wireless utility until about a week ago It showed good connection but it never felt that way for browsing speed Last week I switched back to the Windows utility only to notice that it STILL says quot Connected with limited access quot even though I m using the WNA adapter I admit that I play around a lot with my Services to turn off things I hate about Windows I want my computer to be as fast as possible without all the useless fluff added in with the OS My concern is that maybe I disabled the quot browsing speed quot service or something which shows that I still have a lot to learn about certain things What services if any could affect things in this way I know they have trees and dependencies and all that good stuff so is there a way that I turned off a branch for the internet nbsp

there cold be several reasons.

first try ipconfig /flushdns, then ipconfig /renew if that helps it is a dns issue

if that doesnt help and you are using "homegroup" it may well be that for homegroup has connectivity issues on some mixed OS networks. you can verify it by making a new network connection using "workgroup". If that works you can then kill IPv6, and homegroup

Can someone tell what is going on when I get limited access/local only when I log on to a

So I've seen dozens of these on here, but none of the solutions have helped my problem.

My wireless network is called "bucca" and several people in my household use it without issue, but on my computer, I can't get rid of the "connected with limited access" thing. I can connect to the network but can't actually access the internet without plugging directly into my router.

I could use some help. Thanks!

slimsoul,
Welcome to SevenForums.

When you see that "limited access", if you just wait, does it go away and give you a connection.

Is this a brand new problem with this computer?

Are you in an area where there is a Starbucks or even a beer joint that has wifi (you would be surprised how many do.)?

If yes, than go there and see if you can connect.

Need your specs before continuing.
thanks,

Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec (left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

Add the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
“system manufacturer” block, for example,
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,

For far too long now I have been having connection problems with my laptop. It runs windows 7 and always randomly switches to limited access internet. Once this happens I can't use it until (usually) the next day it's really frustrating as I need to use the Internet for school. I've had the laptop wiped, and tried several things suggested on the Internet but nothing has changed. If anyone knows of a way to remedy this problem I will be very grateful!

A:Limited Access Problems

Do other devices work OK on the internet , when you cannot connect
are you connecting using a cable or wireless ?

can we see an xirrus screen shot

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file to the faulty PC and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply

http://go.pardot.com/l/66982/2015-01-26/2361i
enter you details
Download this file "DOWNLOAD WI-FI INSPECTOR Vx.xx "
( the site now appears to allow webbased emails like gmail, hotmail, outlook and yahoo now )

There is also a xirrus gadget, But that does not have all the fuctionality "DOWNLOAD GADGET Vx.xx

Alternative links - Use the links below
Do NOT use any of the download managers offered - Cnet , just use the direct link below - and click on the download button
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Network-Tools/Network-Monitoring/Xirrus-Wi-Fi-Inspector.shtml
http://download.cnet.com/Xirrus-Wi-Fi-Inspector/3000-18508_4-75758254.html
Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You will need to have NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.
On windows 8 - (i do not have windows 8) but, it would appear that, When you first try to run, you may get a message that .net framework is needed, and included in that message is a link to download/install.

Run the program

A user guide is available here
http://www.xirrus.com/cdn/pdf/xirruswifiinspectorguide1-2-0

post a screen shot of the program running.
if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information.

post which SSID name is yours, its located in the list, under network "Adapter Name" (1st column)
Note:
For a reliable (or robust as the Xirrus user guide says) wireless connection you need a signal of about -70 dBm or better. "A desirable signal level for a robust Wi-Fi connection will be green".
note: the signal level is a negative number, so for example -88 is worst and -40 is better

To post a screen shot of the active window.

Vista or Windows 7
you can use the "snipping tool" which is found in Start> All programs> Accessories> Snipping Tool
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-use-the-windows-snipping-tool/

To upload the screen shot to the forum, open the full reply window ("Go Advanced" button) and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

So, I'm back with another problem.

Today I turned on the pc and couldn't connect to the internet. Kept getting limited access. Although it has worked on and off for a week now. 10min on 30sec off type of thing. Signal was at 60% and link strength was 0-64%.

I've moved the homehub as close as I can to the pc, approx 10ft and still nothing. doesn't even pick up the router most the time.

Anyway, its a HomeHub 2.0 connected to a Edimax N300 wireless PCI-e

The usual things.

Update driver to newest, update router firmware to newest, update bios to newest, uninstall any 3rd party security and use Vistumbler to find the most open wireless radio channel then set router to use it. Set beacon interval in the router to 50 ms.

If you have any Hamachi software, get rid of it. Update any VPN to newest. If you have Networx software, uninstall. If you have any VM software, update to newest.

A:Limited Access After 8.1 upgrade

Hmmm are you sure that isn't the Asus K53TK?

The problem isn't with Windows 8.1 specifically, the problem is that Asus has not updated the wireless drivers for your ASUS K53TK, which only shows drivers for Windows 8 but not 8.1.

You should keep checking the Asus site or Windows update for an updated driver.

I was reading an article about speeding up boot times and such and followed a tutorial to assign a static IP.
After I did so (through Internet Protocol Version 4), I was getting limited access to my wifi network.
That's no good, so I restored it to obtain IP and DNS automatically.
But now it still doesn't work! I know that is the only setting I changed.
Stranger yet, I can connect to my neighbor's wifi and have internet access with no problems.
How can I fix this?

EDIT: I tried flushing DNS, releasing/renewing IP (all through ipconfig), and restarting the modem.
The computer plugged in to the modem works fine, it is just my laptop, and that is the only network i cannot connect to.

A:Limited Access after playing with IP

Everything is working fine again.

What firewall or security suite is, or ever was, on the system?

Try to catch and post the following for when you have a connection and again after it has been lost ...

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

A:windows 7 has limited access

Your computer is not able to receive the IP address from what device it's connecting to (assuming a router because of the wifi adapter).

Can you connect an Ethernet adapter and receive connectivity? If not, you may have a firewall issue

Are you able to connect to any other wireless networks?

As to the adapter itself, the manufacturer (Atheros) has had some issues with thier adapters. Common fixes include reinstall the driver for that adapter, and completely remove it from Device Manager and reboot the computer to let it reinstall it.

I apologize in winxp x64 or limited access to no advance for not having more information but since my primary PC has blocked windows from me I am using my PC to request assistance My primary PC is a Dell T quad processor Gb RAM running WinXP x I use AVG for my Antivirus with scheduled automatic scans and last MS update was Nov I am the only user on these PCs and as such the only user logon at bootup is mine and yes that logon is the admin I use ccleaner occasionally to clear cache and unwanted start-up apps Last night after clicking on a link from a google search I believe my PC was hacked a fake webpage appeared demanding to release my computer showing that it had captured my browser data I took the PC offline and attempted some simple troubleshooting steps but the START menu would only stay available for seconds my desktop icons never appear only the desktop background so had to navigate as quickly as possible form the START menu to launchwas able to get ccleaner to complete a scan and clean before the primary monitor went blank white and the app and taskbar disappeared but when launching AVG the app window would disappear no or limited access to winxp x64 after few seconds and monitor would go white I tried launching in two different SAFE modes but the bootup would result in a bluescreen Was likewise able to navigate to the RESTORE point screen and launch that but in two efforts day back and one week back both came back as quot unable to perform restore quot and when clicking OK to accept that fate the screen went white again After these multiple efforts the START menu and TASKBAR started disappearing more quickly like seconds making it impossible to navigate quickly enough to perform anymore troubleshooting efforts Presuming now I ll need a bootable option that will allow me to perform fixes outside my windows profile environment Moderator Edit Moved topic from Windows XP to the more appropriate forum Queen-Evie

A:no or limited access to winxp x64

Yes that is the fbi warning virus, get a flash drive and download combofix.exe and malwarebytesantimalware to it, boot up pc in safe mode, keep hitting f8 upon boot till you get the screen and selece safe mode with network support make sure its plugged in to your current isp connection, even if laptop you need to plug it in to your router. Run combofix, answer yes to all prompts, let it run, might take a while depending on your hd size, boot again in safe mode load malware bytes, run that, clean files and reboot again.

I have hp laptop with vista os, I cannot access the internet through my linksys router only with limited access, but I can access the internet with my Toshiba laptop, I made a system recovery for my hp laptop but still cannot connect successfully, my ip and dns are set automatically so please help to solve this problem

A:connected with limited access

Open Device Manager and see if there are any red x's or yellow flags next to your network adapter. Next, open a command prompt, Windows Key + R, type cmd and then type the following without the quotes and paste all the results back here, "ipconfig /all". Also check, open IE, click Tools, Internet Options, Connection Tab and then the LAN Tab and in the window that opens make sure that all the check boxes are clear, if not clear them and close IE and re-open IE.

Hey guys

My laptop has been playing up the last few days, whenever I try to connect to the net with it, it comes up with "Access: Local only" or "Limited connectivity".

Have tried carrying out system restore and deleting all cookies/temporary internet files but no joy. What can I do to fix it??

The system I'm running is Windows Vista on an Acer Aspire 5735 with Pentium Dual-Core CPU. System type is 32-bit Operating System.

All help appreciated before I throw the laptop out the bloody window!!

Cheers

My computer running Windows 8.1 randomly decided to give limited internet access. The internet works fine (just a little slower sadly) however I can't access the network. I have a static IP and all of a sudden it just started being limited. Is there any solutions.

Router is the first item to look at.

A:Limited Access to internet

You will need to transfer the logs via cd because if there is an infection it can spread via thumb drive but not a blank cd/dvd

Please download FarbarServiceScanner and run it on the computer with the issue. Right Click and run as admin for these tools.
Make sure the following options are checked:
Internet Services
Windows Firewall
System Restore
Security Center/Action Center
Windows Update

Press "Scan".
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

Please download MINITOOLBOX and run it.

Checkmark following boxes:
Report IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer log
List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size
List Devices (problems only)

Click Go and post the result.

i tried few times toset the ip, check firewall reboot router, yet it doesnt work

My Wireless card is an intel (r) wifi link 5100 AGN and the router is a Broadmax.

when i connect it to ethernet cable it works so i Reall don't know.

Thanks for answering

A:Limited Access problem

both your wired and wireless connections are on at the same time, yeah?

try disabling your wired (ethernet) connection then using your wireless.

disable ethernet adapter through device manager.

if it's still not getting full signal, cycle your router and modem... modem first, then router.

Hey everybody! I attempt to log onto my parent's (golferguy) wireless network. It says under view your active networks: unidentified network (public network). Access type: No network access Connections: has the correct network name. When I click on hidden icons, it says that I have full reception but it says limited access.
I emailed my dad, and he said to look in the network details. He Ggoogled problem and we both found:

my autoconfiguration IPv4 starts with 169 not 192 like his. Also, the subnet masks are different. Finally, I have no info in the IPv4 default Gateway, IPv4 DNS Server, and IPv4 WINS Server. His does. Please help.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hi --- recently did a clean install of Windows 7 pro (64 bit) over an XP pro (32 bit) with 2 HD. The install proceeded without any major "hiccups". After the install, I noticed that when I try to access files on the "D" drive --- my second, I get error messages stating "user does not have access" --- I have tried troubleshooting but to no avail. Really would like to access those files. Both drives "show" NTFS where they were both FAT32 prior to the new OS. I don't understand how I can access the files on the "C" drive but not on the "D" drive. The files that I would most like to access are *.doc and *.pdf. Would really appreciate any and all suggestions.

A:limited access to 2nd drive

Are you running as the administrative account? If so, right click on the drive, and set the permissions.

A:connected but with limited access

Welcome, fgonzales.

1. Does your wireless network have a password?

2. What is the model of your notebook?

3. Model of your D-Link router?

4. Apartment/House?

5. Does your router have DHCP turned on or off?

Thanks!

Hello,
I have a Compac Presario w/Vista and I'm getting a limited connectivity message and can't access the internet. My cable modem is connected straight to the computer by ethernet wire. It happened before and I unistalled the Vista update and it was fine. I can't see what the problem is this time cause my Event log won't come up saying that the Snapin for the MMC isn't properly loading. I am able to see alerts but there wasn't any on that date. My Norton's won't come up either stating that the side by side configeration isn't right. Hope you can help!
