Laptop Touchpad not working (Acer)

Q: Laptop Touchpad not working (Acer)

I'm not sure where to ask but I have a problem.

My laptop (Acer Aspire 4750G) touchpad is not working. It is still usable, I can move the cursors with it. But the system seems telling me that I keep pressing the right button of the touchpad, so when I left click/tap the touchpad, it works as a right click instead. I disabled that by plugging in my USB mouse and right-clicking on the mouse. Well the problem comes again after I do that so I'm forced to use the USB mouse, which would be very annoying and time-eating if I have something to do quickly. Also, there's nothing stuck in there a the drivers are up-to-date.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After trying 20+ drivers from ALPS, Synaptics and ElanTech I have found the solution! Download this cabinet file
403 Forbidden
and extract/copy the contents to a folder of your choosing. Run the Setup and voila! You have a fully functioning touchpad.

This worked for the ETD050A touchpad used in my Acer Aspire ES1-512-P18H with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed via USB stick in Legacy mode.

Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem when downgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 7.

Hi guys,

I seem to have a problem using my touchpad on my Acer Aspire 2920 laptop,
I recently shut down my computer whilst using Nero Xpress and was in the middle of burning a cd (please dont ask me why) and for some reason when i restarted the laptop the touchpad wouldnt respond, Iv plugged in a mouse for now which works fine but i want my touchpad back.

Iv gone through the normal procedures e.g system restore, FN+F7 & FN+F9 which havent worked iv also checked my touchpad settings and there all updated but they dont seem to see my synaptics drivers iv already re-installed the drivers but still no avail.

Its very frustrating as im not used to using a mouse on my laptop

If anyone can help id be very grateful.

Kind Regards

I have an Acer V17 Nitro and the Touchpad worked fine with Windows 7 but with Windows 10 it doesn't work.  In device manager under "mouse and other pointing devices" I see two "HID-compliant" mice but no touchpad.  I've tried the latest drivers from Acer but they don't help.  What can I try?

Hi,
Welcome to the forums, go to control panel, uninstall "Launch Manager" in Programs, download from here and re-install it:
Download Drivers and Manuals | Acer Official Site
Try different drivers for synaptics, for example, Acer Aspire E1-572 Synaptics Touchpad Driver 17.0.6.13 for Windows 8.1 64-bit Drivers download - Synaptics Software Update
EDIT:
If you find ETD Ware in Programs, right click and uninstall it, that's your Elantech but I couldn't see it in your Device manager.

Something weird happened. It would not work no matter what I tried. I was watching a movie on KODI formerly XBMC. I accidently touched the Keypad and the Mouse moved. I pressed the Video button and it lit up. Only thing that I can figure out is that it took several hours for the driver update to work or that the Video triggered the Touchpad. I had uninstalled and deleted every instance of the driver including the Backup System Reserved created by a MS Tech, when my Windows Ultimate became corrupted. Initialy it had Win-7 Home Premium and when it would not install IE10 at the time MS gave me a free upgrade to Ultimate.Even then it took a week to finally get IE10 installed because the Computer Lacked Service pack1. Kudos to the MS Techs, they called me numerous times and worked on my computer. The spoke excellent English and are based in India. Laptop was out of warranty and Acer pretty much said tough luck, you gotta pay. MS did not charge me one cent.

For the past few months, the right touchpad button does not work with the Windows 10 drivers. Windows 8.1 drivers worked fine. If I switch mouse settings to left handed, then the buttons work fine, but obviously this is awkward to get used to. I have rollbacked the driver to a very old edition and it worked fine, however then I had no synaptics touchpad settings so the touchpad settings could not be altered.

19.0.9.7 is the synaptics version

touchpad works fine on other user accounts

I have an Acer ES1-512 laptop, on which I have installed Windows 7 on BIOS(Legacy) mode. I have installed all working drivers except the touchpad driver. The driver on the Acer website is only installable on Windows 10, so when I downloaded and tried to install it, it said that no device was found for a driver update. This is very frustrating, because:
1. The touchpad automatically clicks when i touch it.
2. I can't scroll with it.

If there is anything I can do to fix this problem, please tell me.
Thanks in advance

Laptop is an Acer Aspire z with Windows Vista Home Laptop Synaptics Aspire Acer Touchpad Issue Premium -bit fully updated to current I installed an update to Avast's engine and Acer Aspire Laptop Synaptics Touchpad Issue after rebooting when I got to the Windows logon screen both the mouse buttons on both the built-in Synaptics touchpad and an external USB mouse will only select an item but nothing else happens In other words if I click on a user account it selects it but it doesn't allow me to enter a password Likewise if I click on the shutdown icon at the lower right of the screen it just selects it but nothing else happens But I found that if I hit the tab key and then the enter key to select something on this screen then the left mouse button starts working again on the touchpad and the USB mouse When I get into windows the left mouse button on both the built-in touchpad and the external mouse continue to work but the right mouse button on the built-in touchpad doesn't work However the right mouse button on the USB mouse works I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this - uninstalled Avast I'm now using MSE as the anti-virus on this machine - uninstalled and re-installed the drivers for both mouse devices multiple times using different versions for the touchpad one set of drivers from Acer another set from Synaptics - uninstalled the Synaptics device from device manager and let windows reinstall it upon reboot - updated the drivers within device manager it didn't find any that were more current - restored the system back to a system restore point before this started happening - dinked around with all the settings available for mouse - tried toggling FN F the Acer key to turn on off the touchpad functions - tried SAFE mode - same behavior - tried SAFE boot with nearly all services disabled I'm beginning to think this might not have anything to do with drivers since neither mouse device works correctly at the Windows login screen until I hit TAB and then ENTER I think the internals of Vista may be hosed somewhere Acer said that I should do a wipe and reset back to factory state I'd sure like to avoid this Any thoughts Thanks

Hi, I have read some of the other threads hoping a previously posted solution would work for me. I did find the post where fmapp.exe was the culprit but I do not have that program.

My keyboard is erratic. The touchpad seems to highlight and delete stuff at will and the cursor moves around, too. I just ran CCleaner and Malwarebytes and have 360 Total Security, which is also up to date.

Thanks very much for suggestions and assistance.

The only way to make the touchpad work again is to reinstall the drivers in device manager, however this is frustrating when you have to do it all the time, so does anyone have any idea how to permanently fix this?Laptop is HP pavilion 13-b110tu (windows 10 64bit) Extra info:I can fix the problem if I uninstall "Synaptics SMBus TouchPad" in device manager, but this leads to a number of other problems (gestures not working, left/right click reversed, touchpad behaving erratically etc.) Thanks in advance

So I needed to disable the touch pad on my laptop and the icon in the task bar was not there like it was, I needed to re-install cause things were getting slow everything works like it should now. But I went to the Control Panel and went to where you would disable the touch pad and the disable button is grayed out. I don't know why and I want to disable it.

(Attached is what I see when I get to the mouse from the control panel)

Are you referring to the the right side scroll bars on laptop touch pads that allow you to scroll up and down pages?

Try updating the driver for your touchpad and see if that helps.

Hello I have an Advent Monza S laptop I've recently upgraded to Windows Before I upgraded my touch pad was working fine but after the upgrade my touch pad stopped working Once my laptop is turned 10 since touchpad Laptop Windows working not installing on the cursor is not visable on the screen the touch pad is unresponsive too If I plug in an external mouse the cursor re-appears and I can control my computer that way although as soon as I un-connect my external mouse the cursor stays on the screen but I can't control it with the touch pad I can un-install the touch pad drivers then re-install them from the Advent webpage and the touch pad will work perfectly until I turn my laptop off then when I switch my laptop back on I'm back to square one again and can't do anything unless I plug in my external mouse I've tried asking on the Advent forums but they don't seem to have had any traffic since early Any help would be great Cheers Mark Laptop touchpad not working since installing Windows 10

A:Laptop touchpad not working since installing Windows 10

Hello ObiDad. Welcome to the Forum

You don't say how old this laptop is or what operating system it came with, but that would be helpful to know.

The first thing I would try is to uninstall (remove) the touchpad from Device Manager. If the option is available remove the driver also. Then restart.
The important thing is that you try and remove all instances of any old drivers that may interfere with the generic driver installation.
Windows comes with a generic touchpad driver and that will be installed automatically and it may work right off, particularly if there is a driver conflict going on here.

If it works, then you could try and install the Advent driver. Only this time run the installer program (app) in Compatibility Mode. Use the compatibility mode for the operating system that the Advent driver is made for.
Compatibility Mode Settings for Apps - Change in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

See if either or both of those things help.

take a look in device manager to make sure there are no little yellow !'s. Windows will detect the touchpad as a genric ps/2 mouse, but to make it work properly you'll need to get the actual driver from your laptop manufacturer's website, what brand is it?

A:Left Mouse Click on Laptop Touchpad stopped working

I assume you have checked your settings in Control Panel > Mouse Properties?

It will save a lot of time if you can determine whether this is a hardware problem or a software problem.
Try this: Download a copy of UBUNTU. Put this on a USB stick. Boot from the USB stick and choose to Run The Program (you do not need to install it on your hard drive). Then check to see if the mousepad works OK in UBUNTU. If it does then it is a Windows/Software problem. If it doesn't then it is a defective mousepad.

I'd be very grateful if someone could suggest a solution to the problem I have with the touchpad on my laptop, the one finger scrolling is not working, I have checked as far as I can using the info provided, as far as I know the driver is up to date, I've looked for 'Dell touchpad' or 'Device settings tab' in control panel and they aren't there, just mouse ( ps/2) properties and these are shown as ok, any ideas please? many thanks,Steven. ps, guruaid tell me it's a hardware problem but I'm not so sure, it used to work fine before Windows 10 was loaded and messed up a whole lot of functions, I was then told it's not compatible with this laptop, so I had to put Windows 7 back on and the problem stemmed from around that time

A:n5010 laptop touchpad not working correctly - no 'one finger' scrolling function

Hi PUFFIN88,
Have you performed a clean install of Windows 7 or have just rolled back the OS from Win10 to Win7? Is the touchpad detected in device manager? Is there any damage on the system? Do the touchpad button register a click?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/28WKQHB- restart the system and check if it works fine.  Reinstall the touchpad drivers from the same site and check.
If the touchpad is not detected in device manager- then download the service manual from the support site link above - and reseat the palmrest cables and check if it works.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hi there, I am a novice computer users, i dont know know much about the hardware etc. I have an ACER ASPIRE 5742 laptop and recently the sound has stopped working. It still works when i plug headphones, i think there is something wrong with the speakers. Can anyone advise me on what to do please? I am a student so i cant afford to get it repaired.
Thanks

A:Acer laptop sound not working

Did the speaker just all of a sudden stop working? If so, this is rare as speakers are a relatively simple electromagnetic device. They usually just don't just break somehow and stop all of a sudden. This is probably another issue like hardware or driver related. Check the Device manager and see if there is anything amiss there ans see if you can restore the driver. I am guessing driver and not MB' hardware malfunction like the realtek audio chip or whatever audio manufacturer is on-board. since you said the headphones still work.

If the key is not working, then that's a hardware issue. If your laptop is still under a warranty, you should consider sending it for repair.

Hi all,

Just to say that if anyone has the same problem with the wireless not appearing to work with windows 7, I have found out that if you use the normal status bar (bottom right) and select your access point, and type in your key, this will not work. You have to do it on the manual setup of the network and type in the access point and key there with your desired security and then windows 7 will actually connect to the wireless access point.

hope that helps.

A:Sound on Acer Aspire 4830T Laptop not working at all

Conexant is correct according to Acer, what you have is wrong and I'm not sure how it got there.

If there is no direct hardware driver installed (e.g. Conexant) Windows will install the generic, basic function, High Definition Audio Device. This system should also have HDMI Audio (Possibly Intel HDMI Audio).

Suggest you uninstall the WsAudio Device, in the Device Manager. In the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the WsAudio entry to highlight it and then LEFT click "Uninstall". Also check the box to uninstall the drivers. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts, assuming there is no hardware problem, Windows should install the High Definition Audio Device. This is not a full featured sound driver but should give you PC speaker sound. If this works OK you can then install the Conexent driver (what is listed on the Acer site for this model).

A:Keys not working - Laptop - Acer Aspire 5755G

Hello Robwan,

Usually, if just a few keys stop working... it's a bad keyboard. This happens a lot with Gaming Computers, due to the heavy use of certain keys.

If an external keyboard works, I'd consider replacing the onboard keyboard. You can also test using the on-screen keyboard, as well.

http://laptoppartstore.weebly.com/re...-keyboard.html

A new keyboard can be purchased on ebay or keyboard.com

Hope this helps,
John

Sounds like the reboot came up in safe mode. Try a shutdown, restart to see if it clears up. Rebooting while in something as intensive as a virus scan / repair is seldom safe. You should always let it continue until it's finished, even if inconvenient.

"I already checked the sound driver, no question marks appeared"... Do you mean no exclamation points like this (!)? If you can hear normal sound from the headset the sound driver is okay. This could be caused by a keyboard setting. Make sure the sound is all the way up and that it is not muted

Download Ubuntu Live CD ISO image and burn the ISO image to a cd using Imgburn (how to burn an ISO image using Imgburn). With the newly burned cd boot with it then select "Try Ubuntu" not "Install Ubuntu" access the Windows partition or what ever partition or hdd you which to backup files from by going to the panel on top, select "Go" click on "Computer". Select the partition, or Hard drive then directories, and files you wish to back up, Backup the files to DVD, an external hard drive or thumb drive(s).
Downloading UBCD which is in my signature.Burn the ISO Image to a blank CD using Imgburn (How to burn a ISO Image using Imgburn) burn at lowest speed. With the newly burned cd boot with the cd go to HDD>Diagnostics>The make and model of your hard drive, Seagate, Maxtor, Drive Fitness which is Hitachi, Or Western Digital. Perform a short and long test. Could also be called "Standard" and "Extended" test or also "Comprehensive" test.

If you can not find the right test for your hard drive your OEM computer may have it's own hard drive diagnostics testing tool. Refer to your OEM computer documentation to find out how to access these test. Also try going to the manufacture of your machine to find documentation about it. Also consider going to the manufacture of your hard drive to look to see if they have hard drive diagnostics test. The ideal test or method would include an ISO that could be burned via an image to a cd which would be made bootable.

A:Laptop keyboard and touchpad not working (code 19 and code 24)

I would recommend performing a repair installation of the operating system, since you used the registry cleaning portion of CCleaner. In addition to Broni's link Bleeping Computer DOES NOT recommend the use of registry cleaners/optimizers for several reasons:Registry cleaners are extremely powerful applications that can damage the registry by using aggressive cleaning routines and cause your computer to become unbootable. The Windows registry is a central repository (database) for storing configuration data, user settings and machine-dependent settings, and options for the operating system. It contains information and settings for all hardware, software, users, and preferences. Whenever a user makes changes to settings, file associations, system policies, or installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in this repository. The registry is a crucial component because it is where Windows "remembers" all this information, how it works together, how Windows boots the system and what files it uses when it does. The registry is also a vulnerable subsystem, in that relatively small changes done incorrectly can render the system inoperable. For a more detailed explanation, read Understanding The Registry. Not all registry cleaners are created equal. There are a number of them available but they do not all work entirely the same way. Each vendor uses different criteria as to what constitutes a "bad entry". One cleaner may find entries on your system that will not cause problems when removed, another may not find the same entries, and still another may want to remove entries required for a program to work. Not all registry cleaners create a backup of the registry before making changes. If the changes prevent the system from booting up, then there is no backup available to restore it in order to regain functionality. A backup of the registry is essential BEFORE making any changes to the registry.Improperly removing registry entries can hamper malware disinfection and make the removal process more difficult if your computer becomes infected. For example, removing malware related registry entries before the infection is properly identified can contribute to system instability and even make the malware undetectable to removal tools. The usefulness of cleaning the registry is highly overrated and can be dangerous. In most cases, using a cleaner to remove obsolete, invalid, and erroneous entries does not affect system performance but it can result in "unpredictable results".Unless you have a particular problem that requires a registry edit to correct it, I would suggest you leave the registry alone. Using registry cleaning tools unnecessarily or incorrectly could lead to disastrous effects on your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again. For routine use, the benefits to your computer are negligible while the potential risks are great.Ed Bott's Webog: Why I dont use registry cleanersDo I need a Registry Cleaner?

I have an Acer 5630 laptop. The left click button on the touchpad is, kind of, broken. It still works but it seems some of the plastic that supports the button is broken. (ie. if i touch the lower portion of the button it tilts into the computer and the button also acts erratic sometimes). Either way, I am looking to replace the touchpad with a new one, if I can get it. Does anyone know:

1) Where a repair manual or some kind of description can be found to disassemble the laptop to replace the part.

2) Where I can find the part.

I found one place, I think, called notebookparts.com but there is no pic of the item so I can be sure it is what I need.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hello! I've just recently bought a new Acer V13 (V3-371) which is running Windows 8.1. From the very first start my touchpad has not been working properly. It randomly freezes. Sometimes it unfreezes itself if I'm moving my fingers across the touchpad sometimes not. Then I have to press FN+F7 two times and then it's working again. Is this hardware problem or software? Do I need to download a driver?  I haven't found any touchpad driver for this particular laptop. Thanks for help in advance!!!

A:Acer V13 Touchpad issue

Same exact problem.  Very annoying.  I didn't know about the Fn-F7 method of recovering it, though... so thanks for that tip.  I'm going to venture and say this is a software/driver issue.  Acer?  Anything to say regarding this matter?

A:Acer v3-371-56 TOUCHPAD FREEZING

Rufon,

If you have reinstalled the drivers for the touchpad to rule out software then it could be something else. If the touch pad itself was replaced it could either be a different piece of hardware, the cable that connects it, the touch pad itself, or the operating system. If you've performed a system restore to before it started freezing up and made sure the issue exists there I would recommend that you contact the Acer Technical support again to see what options you have available are.

Look at this answer from another poster / board with your problem:
Looking at the keyboard I found a help key combination Fn-F1 which produced a menu listing several hot key combinations. One such combination was Fn-F7 which toggled the touchpad enabled/disabled.

Apparently his accidentally became disabled.

I've had my laptop for a year but only had problems in the last few months concerning the touchpad. It had stopped working for me and I couldn't use it for a while. I don't know how but it started to work again, except that when I tap-to-click with the touchpad, it opens the context menu. I cannot directly open an icon without having to choose "open" on the menu first - anywhere tap on my desktop, it opens a menu.
I have Synaptics and I've tried altering the settings, but It hasn't worked for me yet.
It's very frustrating.

I have an Acer Aspire laptop that is giving me problems. When I use the touchpad it is like it is on auto-pilot. I move it around and it just starts clicking on every icon it hovers over. When I press F7 AND FN IT DISAbles the touchpad and I can use it fine with the mouse. Is this something that is wrong with the mouse/touchpad settings, a Virus or something else I am not considering. It is actually doing the same crazy stuff when using an external Mouse. It is just clicking things automatically when I move over the icons. It is also happening in safe mode. It is like the Laptop is on steroids. Suggestions ; Software, hardware or a virus. I just replaced the screen on the Laptop. Thanks Let me know if you have some suggestions or need anymore information from me.

Hi Acer community nbsp I had this laptop since Acer VN7-592G fix Erratic [FIX] touchpad May and was very satisfied with it however the one thing that bugged me since day was that touchpad and the bloatware nbsp Software fix for erratic touchpad The touchpad being erratic and [FIX] Acer VN7-592G Erratic touchpad fix inaccurate at times when i try to move my cursor over a small distance it would not detect and then jump past the point i want it to hit it was driving me insane nbsp I tried the firmware update that acer provided installed the newer drivers from synaptics and also the ELAN I C filter driver it didnt do anything nbsp Forums all over the internet esp from the dell forums regarding the XPS suggested disabling the enhance pointer precision in the pointer options tab under mouse settings from the control panel this bandaid solution did indeed improve but more importantly it told me that it was a software issue from crappy windows precision touchpad drivers nbsp nbsp I came across this reddit thread where they disabled the PTP drivers and installed the legacy synaptic drivers over PS https www reddit com r Dell comments nbjbp yes a solutionactual working fix xps laptops nbsp nbsp While their method could not be replicated on our acer laptops exactly by disabling the I C bus in the device manager Acer has provided a nice bios option that can nbsp disable the I C bus via the bios nbsp Follow the instructions in this link to change the touchpad settings to Basic in the BIOS http acer custhelp com app answers detail a id changing-the-precision-touchpad-settings-in nbsp Reboot back into windows and you will realise your gestures and -finger scrolls do not work at the moment but fret not nbsp In your device manager a new PS Device should appear under mice and other pointing nbsp devices nbsp Download and extract the PS synaptic drivers via this link http drivers synaptics com Synaptics v C x -x Win Signed MS Win UXUI PS SMbu nbsp Right click on the PS Device and update driver locating the inf file for the driver of to the x folder nbsp Select Synaptics PS Port Touchpad and install and now your PS devices is a synaptics PS touchpad nbsp nbsp Reboot as instructed and volia nbsp You should have an additional tab in your mouse options to access the synaptics settings adjust the various settings to your liking and you can have your gestures and finger scoll back nbsp I believe this should work for most V VN series laptops do let me know if they work and if you enjoy the laptop on legacy synaptics drivers instead of bleep ty windows precision touchpad drivers nbsp Hardware fix for shakiness The touchpad was flimsy shaky to me and it made a bang for buck laptop feel cheaper than it had to The solution to that was to open the laptop and placed sponges melamine where the white boxes are there were thick enough to get the right solid built feel of the touchpad by removing the shakiness play but thin enough to allow me to still click the button For my laptop there was already a black sponge on one side of the touchpad but I believe it was too little to remove the play from the touchpad nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp P S Bloatware was an easy fix reinstalling windows with a clean image in case those were also wondering you do not need a CD-key as the key is embedded in your uefi bios and it will not prompt you for it during installation or setup of windows and it will automatically be authenticated nbsp

Let me know if you have some suggestions or need anymore information from me. Thanks

A:Acer Touchpad going crazy clicking on everything!

Thanks

Hi, I've recently bought an Acer VN7-592G-76FZ but I'm experiencing major issues with the touchpad: randomly during normal usage the cursor starts going crazy, jumps all over the screen and becomes unusable/unresponsive.Disabling and re-enabling (twice Fn+F7) the touchpad temporarily solves the issue, so I guess it's software- and not hardware-related. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the related driver (which appears to be dated at 2006, how can it be?) through the Windows 10 utility "Device Manager" Utility and even to update it (by downloading the Synaptic driver from Acer website) but still I get no luck. Any ideas? Please help me, I'm going mad and I'm always forced to bring an external mouse along with my laptop!  Thanks in advance!

There is a firmware update available for the touchpad on the website. Try it and post back your result here. http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/Firmware/Firmware_Acer_1.17_A_A.zip?acerid=635926742737...

I'm having some troubles with my brand new Acer Aspire 7730G (vista).

The touchpad doesn't work quite correctly. The right button is completely non-responsive. Also, a couple of times the touchpad itself was non-responsive to tapping. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them, didn't help.

Uhhh, help me. Thanks in advance

Hi! I bought yesterday a new Acer V3-111P. I tried to install windows 8.1 and at the beggining of the install my touchpad didn't work. My screentouch is working pretty well, so I installed windows 8.1. I've tried other touchpad drivers too, but my touchpad still won't work. Anybody has idea why it isn't working? Thanks hopefully

I bought an Acer Aspire E5-511, but I have problem with touchpad and Windows 8.1.The touchpad (Synaptics) is not working with Windows 8.1 x64, but it works fine with Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x64.When I install Windows 8.1 and have to choose? language to install? I can?t choose anything with the touchpad. I should plug in my mouse to continue. I doesn?t work even when it?s fully installed and with latest driver (available only for win 8.1 x64) from Acer?s website. I tried with an older driver, but had no success. I updated BIOS, but it doesn?t work again. In hardware IDS in device manager it shows HID\? not ACPI\? (like win 7/8). Fn+F7 doesn?t help. When I try to install Windows7/8 the touchpad is working properly at the beginning (I can choose ?language to install?, ?Time and currency format?? and the touchpad works after install even without driver).

There are several threads here about troublesome touchpads on E5, E3, V3 and other Aspire laptops with Win 8.1. No one has found the definitive solution yet, I think.

Whenever I wake my chromebook from sleep the trackpad function is inoperable. There is no cursor displayed and using the trackpad does not appear to have any effect (i.e. no "invisible" cursor either). Upon reboot all trackpad function is restored. This started happening after I had been using my chromebook for a few months, so I'm guessing there was a software update associated with it, but I have no idea which one. Anyone else experienced this? TIA

I have a month old Acer Aspire E 15 laptop. Its touchpad is very hard and for normal touch it just keeps roaming picking up cells. It can only be stopped by taking off the finger and then carefully taking cursor to an empty cell and press hard to click so the several picked up cells get released and I can work further. I tried Fn+F7 suggested by a forum member but it acts only an On/Off switch for the touchpad. Press Fn+F7 and it goes off, press again it comes back. But the hardness remains. A click with the touchpad means press the touchpad hard till it literally 'clicks'. Looks like the machine will be usable only with a mouse. Before I had a Lenovo and never faced any such problem. Anyone faced such a problem? And any solutions?

Hi,If you have Precision Touchpad in your laptop, go to Settings, Devices and select mouse and touchpad, try disabling features one by one and test whether it resolves the problem, when you say that you have to press hard, did you mean physically? If it is, then it may be a hardware problem and needs a technicians attention.

I own an acer laptop running windows 7 that works great except I have a small problem with the touchpad. Whenever I press a key on the keyboard the touchpad dosen't work. I figure this is some problem with the driver. I have tried rolling back the driver which got rid of the problem but then also added a whole bunch off other problems because it was a really old driver. anyway this makes it basically impossible to play any games(unless I use an external mouse) because you have to use the keyboard and touchpad at the same time.

This isn't a huge deal but it would be nice to play games on the go without having to carry a mouse around.

A:touchpad driver issue for acer 5739G

anyone? theres got to be some way to fix this. Why would acer sell a gaming notebook that doesn't allow you to play games.
