What size are the screws for PC expansion slots? Are they 6-32 x 1/4"?
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Here's my dilemma:
I have a generic $50 case, and no video card.
I am shopping for a cheap video card, so I can play some Half Life 2 type stuff.
before buying the card I tried to hook up a PCI network card, but there's no way to secure the card to the chassis with a mounting screw. I've messed around with video/sound/network cards many times before, but have never seen a case with no screws.
I've attached a pic of my expansion slots if it helps at all. As you can see there's no holes to screw a card down, and those funny looking clip things don't line up with anything.
I'm sure I'm missing something, but google can't even help me out cause I don't really know what I'm looking at, or what I need to fix this problem.
I have an expansion slot, and I was wondering what goes in there? I know it's a stupid question, but I never hear much about it.
I have a shared PCI/ISA slot on my MB. What (or better how) can I use this slot? I want to add a NIC for DSL but all my PCI's are in use by Firewire, SCSI, and sound cards? Can I use this shared slot for the NIC or swap out one of my others and use them in the shared??
Thanks for any help!
well, most PCI cards sohuld play nice nice with the shared slot. But i'm not to sure abuot that. I'm not sure if the sound card would like it though. You can probably just put the NIC in there
Just remember, i could be wrong.
The PCI card (Adaptec 29160N RAID) is 32-bit but the expansion slot on the motherboard (Super Micro P4DPR-6GM+) is 64-bit 66MHz PCI (3.3V). The card's POST doesn't show up during boot. Is this because it's 32-bit and the slot is 64-bit?

1. Expansion SlotWhat is the expansion slot specification for this model as we would like to add a dedicated graphics card with DisplayPort ? 2. MemoryHow many memory slots does it have on the motherboard ?What type of memory is required ?What is the maximum memory supported on the motherboard ?
Go to Solution.
Ok, Sorry looking up the model at Kingston and a couple other sites didn't show your computer and seeing I hadn't seen any I was confused. Based on what I have found maybe a Model from other country. With that said it looks like it comes with 2gig DDR3L Ram and is Upgradable to 8Gig Also looks like yours comes With 1 PCI Express x16 Slot. I am not sure with the PSU and with that slot if you would be able to upgrade to a different Graphics Card. GPU and size of case would put a huge limit on what could be able to fit... Do you guy knew if Dell E7250 is able to install ADDITIONAL ssd in M.2 Expansion Slots?
In the specification it's show there are free M.2 slot for WWAN or SSD.
If it's support what SSD M.2 model should i but 2242?
The additional slot referenced is in the E-dock expansion adapter - NOT the system. The system takes only one internal M.2 drive.
If you have (or purchase) the E-dock port adapter, you'll have the additional M.2 slot.
There's a small expansion slot labelled PCIE1x1 next to the longer slot in which I've installed a graphics card. What can the smaller one be used for? Can it for example hold an SSD? Thanks,Tom
Go to Solution.
OK, Yes that is the one that I was Refering to... There was some boards that could connect to that slot I don't see any ATM but they were non Controller systems Plug in and some would be found. Some wouldn't So I think they have done away with them... One with a Controller like the one in my picture here.... Can be used for SDD and also an extra HDD off it as well. They have others that are just SSD and some that have 2 spaces for SSD on the card but may not work for your space as they are longer cards. There are also some that offer SSD, SATA and exta ESata out the back... It is all up to what you want and how much you like to spend.http://community.acer.com/t5/Aspire-Desktops/TC-705-EB53-expansion-slot-question/td-p/411193/jump-to/first-unread-message

@Dr_Saiful?, welcome to the forum. Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the computer. Beginning on Page 26 you will find the Workstation Specifications. In the specs it says that two video cards can be used as long as the required wattage is no more than 150W. I suspect that you may be exceeding the wattage of your power supply unit (PSU). I want to add an expansion card to a new Tower 3620. I can get the box open to access to chassis just fine, but how does this black plastic cover on the expansion slots work. Looks like it's designed to make it easy to pop open all the slots at once, but it's way to clever for me to figure out. Hand me the big pliers!

the front panel connections.
Afraid graphics and network usually don't have header extensions,
but something like this can get audio/usb firewire up front.
You need to find one to match the headers.

My opinion ...
Yes, setting up like that will have an impact. The air flow to your GPU will be restricted so it will more than likely run hotter than it did. It may still stay withing recommended specs, but it will run hotter.
The motherboard has onboard sound (Realtek® ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC ), any particular reason why you don't use that? Onboard sound is perfectly good for gaming and the like now, its not like older machines where you needed a dedicated card for decent quality. In my opinion, you only need a dedicated card if you are doing a lot of detailed audio work (mixing, remastering and other specific audio work). This would totally remove the issue.
This is the strangest thing I've seen in the past years of using computers I have an Acer Aspire - laptop that came with windows but I'm very picky and I wanted Windows xp back so I went onto Acer's website and won't mouse USB slot USB first other in works any slot, in only work but USB downloaded all of the windows xp drivers and then formatted the laptop to Windows XP with intergrated Service Pack The computer works just fine except for one very strange oddity - the USB mouse I'm using only works when plugged into the first USB slot it will refuse to work in the other USB slots I'm using a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer USB which is my favorite mouse and I USB mouse only works in first USB slot, but won't work in any other USB slot have of them at home When I was formatting the laptop USB mouse only works in first USB slot, but won't work in any other USB slot I had the mouse plugged into the first USB slot and now that is the ONLY slot it will work in If I plug it into the other usb slots the red laser will come on which means it's getting power but it will not move the cursor and clicking either of the mouse buttons won't do anything When I have the Device Manager open and I plug the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer mouse into the first USB slot the 'Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer ' entry will appear in BOTH the 'Human Interface Devices' tab and also the 'Mice and other pointing devices' tab However when plugging the mouse into the other usb slots the 'Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer ' entry will only appear in the 'Human Interface Devices' but NOT the 'Mice and other pointing devices' tab I could just go about my business using the first usb slot for the mouse but this little strange problem is pissing me off hugely as I might want to switch the mouse to another USB slot based on how I have the laptop positioned on a desk or other surface I should also note that the 'Human Interface Devices' tab has a 'HID compliant device' entry in it that isn't present on my desktop computer and my mouse works on any of the usb slots on my desktop computer I wonder if this is the problem I tried disabling this entry but it doesn't help any A final point to note is that I have many other usb devices such as flash memory sticks camera card readers external harddrives gps devices and they all work perfectly fine no matter which usb slot they are plugged into Very strange indeed Is there anyway to make my mouse work in any of the other USB slots
I have seen a similar problem, but it was all USB ports that weren't working.
First, check the BIOS to make sure all USB ports are enabled, which they probably are.
Are all drivers installed and up to date? Do any yellow question marks or exclamation points show up in Device Manager?
i need to know which know which graphic card will fit for my computer. Ie i want to know which type: DDR ,DDR1 or ddr2 i bought my computer in 2007, but thats not enough to tell.
so please let me know how do i know which pci slot i have?
The type of memory doesn't matter, its the type of interface the computer supports among a few other things to watch for.
You likely have a PCI-Express slot, as long as it a x16 slot it doesn't really matter if its a version 1.1 or 2.0 slot.
Is this for your Dell or another computer? Whats you budget and what needs do you have for the video card?
ok the lady I got this comp from says the comp the video card its reading now is not as good as the one in the PCI slot so Im wondering how do I make it so it reads the PCI slot
The AGP vid card though comes out with a Adaptor to make it so you can plug in moniters
Anyway Should I leave my moniter plug in the AGP slot video card or put it where no video card is but goes right into the computer
and no there is no plug that goes into the PCI slot
I hope this is understanable

i have had trouble with my computer after cleaning it (can of compressed air) it would boot to log in screen then go black on the monitor or it would blue screen and restart.
after figuring out it was a RAM problem i tried another stick of RAM but same problem so i guess its the actual slot it goes into, i only have 2 on my motherboard lucky one of them is working still.
has anyone had this problem or know of a way to fix it, i am wondering if some of the canned air/gas became a liquid from spraying to close and got in it.
any help would be appreciated thanks.
ok so i have been looking into my problem more, when booting i press tab to show the POST?? or somthing and it says that 1 of the RAMs wouldnt/couldnt R/W (read write?? i dont know)
then i get the screen saying that windows has had hardware changes and asking to how i want to start windows (normal, safe mode, etc) i have tried all but it just restarts.
now its only with 1 of the 2 dimm slots this happens and i have tried differend RAM in there but only the 1 slot works
any help would be appreciated
yah just a question, and if so give me a price range please for a pci
You can't add a slot to a motherboard.
How old is this computer that it doesn't have a PCI slot? Those have been around for quite a while. Are you sure it doesn't have one? Even AGP is not new technology.
EDIT: After seeing your other thread, are you asking if you can purchase an AGP or PCI video card? That's a totally different question, and the answer would be yes depending on which slot your motherboard has. How much it costs depends on what you plan to use the computer for. A simple one is cheap, and high-end gaming cards can get expensive.

So im left with a choice.
Either Sacrifice a PCI card and start buying USB hubs an devices
Or find a way to convert this lovley empty AGP slot into a PCI slot.

Well I got my new fans today 2 of them that light up. So I Screw them in(which is hard enough without a drill) theni I had to take one out but i wore it out. The screwdriver wont get a grip. Well I was able to get it out by breaking the fan ledge but is there any easier way? Is a drill worth the investment? Should I get a dremel to take out screws next time there worn out? because i think a dremel could probably cut the head of the screw off. Thanks everyone who replies.

So a few months ago I ordered new parts for my PC from Newegg. I ordered a motherboard, a CPU, and a video card. These parts however did not come with screws. So how do I know what kind of screws to buy for my motherboard and my video card?
They usually do not come with screws. When you buy a new case they will come with screws that you use.
You want these for general motherboard/cd-rom/hard drive mounting.
I just put a new motherboard in my pc but it uses more stand-off than my last one. I have enough stand-offs inside the case, but not enough screws. Where can I get some more screws? The chassis screws (those that hold the hard drive, floppy, optical drives, etc in place) are not the same thread.
normally you would get a pack of standoff and chassis screws with your new mobo. check botom of box under packaging, however i'm sure that any good computer shop will have some lying around and will just give you some.
Try maplins, PC world or any computer component shop.

Hi Mittho and welcome to the community,
Yeh, they're specific screws and since there's no Hardware Maintenance Manual for your machine, it would be tough to tell you what size to get.
However, it's not a bad idea to keep some extra screws around in case things like this happen. If this is an actual pic of the screws, it looks like at least one has a stripped head on it, but there should be enough extras to get you fixed.

They seem to create more trouble than good. Why can't we just push them in like USB or whatever?
Not 100% sure but I think this is the reason
If they were allowed to work their way out this could cause the machine to reboot.
If you were in the middle of something you would loose all your unsaved data.
USB etc won't cause this problem
Hello, I am hoping I can get some help with this.
I recently had a problem where any game I played would crash the computer after a few minutes of playing. I tryed everything from updating drivers and such, using a different video card, getting a new case/ power supply and more. Finally I went and reinstalled windows and that worked. The games have been going fine for a few weeks. This morning I finally got my lazy self to download SP2. Well, guess how well the games played after that? Right, the problems started again. I uninstalled SP2 and now everything is fine.
Obvously I kind of want SP2 for updates and stuff, but not if its gonna wreck my gaming. Any idea what could cause this?

I have a G50-45 notebook and 3 of the screws now have come out. I've never touched the screws, they keep coming out on their own. I looked in the user manual (no luck), and the lenovo support site wasn't even helpful. I just need to know what size to order replacements, because the right side of the laptop is coming apart and I'm afraid the disk driver or the screen is going to break. There is one different sized screw on the bottom that's labeled a metric 2 .4 x 6 mm, so I ordered a set of those thinking that they would fit the other holes but they didn't (they were too small). Help is much appreciated, thanks.
Hello and welcome,
I think all the screw sizes are called out in the HMM:
Hardware Maintenance Manual - Lenovo G50-30, G50-45, G50-70, G50-70m, Z50-70, Z50-75, G50-80
so i bought a case and it didnt come with enough motherboard screws, only had 7, my mobo takes 9. so i took a couple of spacers and screws of off another motherboard in an old pc. my question: will it matter that the screws are from an ancient motherboard? have there been any problems, are they the same size mostly?
The age of the screws won't matter but the thread type might. Just do a test of the threads before you put the mobo in. If the screws go in nice and easy then they'll be just fine. You can also just grab a couple of nylon spacers and insert those into the screw holes on the mobo so that the board is nicely supported.
I need some replacement screws for the external panels - the container I was storingthem in got booted and 2 were lost. Not sure of the threading and pitch, exact shank lengths, or the unique head. I also need some screws for mounting the HDDs in the HDD cage.I believe these are 6-32 x 1/4" as far as the drives are concerned, but if anyone knows different, orknows which ones HP itselfuses (unique heads) , I would appreciate knowing this!http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/replacement-screws/td-p/5816982

I'm building my first computer and have a question about what type of machine screws to use to install the motherboard in the case. The case came with brass standoff nuts that are threaded but they didnt pack the screws with it. I went out to buy machine screws that would fit but could only find steel screws. My motherboard manual says not to have any metal components on the motherboard or in the case that could cause a short circuit. Does that also apply to the screws? I start transferring all the components from my old PC to the new one and leave the CPU until last. CPU slotted in perfect then I go to put the fan on and start screwing it in to the motherbaord and the screws aren't biting. I have a closer look and the holes on the motherbaord are way too big for the screws of the fan. I'm stumped!!!
I work in IT support so I have quite an advance level of hardware knowledge and I've not come across this before...any ideas?
Motherboard model: Gigabyte GA-P41-ES3G Socket 775
CPU: Core 2 Quad
Which heatsink are you using? Was there's a retention mechanism/backplate on the other motherboard?
"Charlie Demerijian at the Inquirer got a look at some insider specs on the PS3, and says, Sony screwed up big time with the Cell processor; the memory read speed on the current Devkits is something like 3 orders of magnitude slower than the write speed; and is unlikely to improve much before the ship date. 'Local Memory Read Speed ~16Mbps, No this isn't a Typo.' Demerjian says when the PS3 comes out a full year after the XBox360, it's still going to be inferior: 'Someone screwed up so badly it looks like it will relegate the console to second place behind the 360.'"
My P50 is shipping today! Getting excited. I plan on replacing the HDD (ordered the 500GB spinner) with a Samsung 850 SSD. I also plan on adding a Samsung 950 M.2 SSD to one of the empty M.2 slots. I ordered the M.2 SSD tray from Lenovo part # 4XB0K59917. My question is if anyone knows whether the M.2 SSD tray from Lenovo ships with screws I need to secure the drive and the card in the computer? The Hardware Maintenance manual indicates a 3mm nylon coated screw. I?ve tried to find the screw kit (OOUR839) for the P50 on Lenovo?s site with no luck. Does Lenovo not sell them because they consider them for repair only? Stupid question but, does anyone know where I can get a couple of the correct screws in the US? All of the screws on eBay are coming from Hong Kong. Thanks

EazyE, this is my 1st post, but I've been following this P Series forum since November almost daily. I will be ordering a P50 later this year once the faster E3-1535 CPU becomes orderable online within the North American market (this faster CPU is already available to the rest of the world - i.e., TopSeller P50 model 20EN0009++ - but not in North America yet). Nevertheless, I have already ordered and received two M.2 SSD trays on Friday. I confirm that each tray comes with 1 screw to attach the M.2 SSD to the tray. Although I don't have a P50 yet, I do recall another message in this forum stating that the P50 comes with 2 screws included to attach up to two M.2 SSD trays to the computer. So, once you receive your P50 and your M.2 SSD tray, you'll have all the screws you need to secure your M.2 SSD to the P50.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/Screws-for-M-2-SSD-Install-on-P50/td-p/2259175
I have the Cooler master hyper 212 model from here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065
and my motherboard from here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131379
and my processor here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117258
Now all of these support or have LGA 1366, but when going through the instructions for the cooler master heatsink, it says I have to screw this:
but...the screws simply wont fit no matter what. I have tried for over an hour. If anyone has any help they can provide please do, I need this server computer built by tonight.
By the way those are supposed to go on to fit the backplate. But they just wont fit.
I need to mount my hard drive/cd-rom drives into their respective bays, but can't seem to find the appropriate screws. Would radioshack/home depot have the appropriate screws/what exactly am I asking for. Thanks all
Well, I have a ATi Radeon X1600Pro and I have been having some problems with it so I am just going to send it back and hopefully get a replacement from ATi. HOWEVER, due to overheating problems I decided to install a custom fan on it, which worked somewhat nicely, but in order to prevent them from knowing I voided the warrenty by doing so I need to put the stock fan back on.
Now the problem is I lost 2 of the screws that mount the fan on the board and I am having the time of my life trying to find replacements. I search at a couple of computer stores but to no avail , as on the interent here too.
(BTW I love this forum design, well done!)
http://mcmaster.com They will have what you need if you know the exact screw type and size.

hey, i have a ga-7n400 pro mobo with a mcp-t soundstorm
i have the latest mobo drivers (3.13) and for some reason when i run eax in halo the sound is all wierd when im running eax, sounds all good when im not running it in halo, is there anything i can do to get eax running ok on halo?
the sound in Halo with EAX on is messed up on my system too (and i have a Audigy2). i get missing sound clips during the cutscenes with EAX on. probably the best thing to do is disable EAX in Halo.
Everytime I open a couple up of videos from youtube...and sometimes other websites wherein you need to buffer videos my net speed gets totallly screwed up.
I get around 1 mbps...but after I watch a couple of vidz from youtube, veoh.etc the speed drastically reduces to 200 and sometimes even 20kbps....
I have to restart my wifi router or wait for 20 odd minutes in order for my speed to get back to normal...been facing this issue for a couple of months now....I tried increasing the cache size in firefox from default 50 mb to 250mb and sometimes till 500mb....but the problem stilll persists...
Any help from you guys would be seriously appreciated...thanks :P

Ok Im about to mount a motherboard into a case. (Thanks to all who helped me choose a price efficient mobo). The case which is about a year old came with little gold plated screws that screwed into the holes where the motherboard would then rest on top and screw into those screws. The screws were hollow. Ive lost thme all except for one which is useless. Can I just rest the mobo on this part of the case and screw it onto the metal frame where the holes exsist or do I need those screws. If I do where can I get replacements? I can take a picture with a webcam if needed to show the screw but that could take a few days as the computer isnt being built at my house. Thanks all

If you are looking to spend around $50 Belkin is probably your best bet. They are pretty reliable and easy to setup.....Just my opinion
I'm looking for some extra motherboard mounting screws. I seem to have lost 5 over the course of one year and need some replacements. Anyone know a retailer that sells these things online or an actual store that would carry them? I usually use Newegg but they didn't have any.
The only computer retailer near me is Staples mind you.
case-mod or frozen cpu should have some that or you could order a really cheap case

I had enough of the "loose screws" threads all over this forum. So, here is a summary of everything we know so far in the forums about the "loose screws" problem on Yoga laptops (definitely Yoga 2 Pro, possibly others): There IS a problem; Lenovo denies it and will refuse warranty claims of damage RESULTING from screws falling out; prior to any damage, Lenovo WILL replace the screws in-warranty but you have to mail in the laptop; Lenovo WON'T mail you screws unless you escalate and get someone nice, in which case it's been known to happen; YES you can just buy replacement screws and screw them in.Here is the exact screw you want:www.laptopscrews.com/m2x4.5mm.htmIt is a "wafer head" torx M2 screw, with a 4.5mm length. In one thread, a guy got an M2 screw with 5mm length at a hardware store and said it worked, and another got a 5mm at laptopscrews.com, and the hardware manual specifies 5mm, but the 5mm ones have a different screwhead, and I measured mine and if you want to be 100% precise it is in fact 4.5mm long. (You measure from the base of the head down to the end.)Here is the exact screwdriver you need:ww.amazon.com/SODIAL-Yellow-Handle-Magnetic-Screwdrivers/dp/B00SUVOMFUIt is a torx T5. It usually comes in a kit of several, like in the above link. Search if you want to find other brands and options; this was just the cheapest one I found. If you want to add locking compound to keep the screws in a little longer, this is the cheapest I found:www.amazon.com/Loctite-Blue-Threadlocker-6-Milliliter-209728/dp/B000I1RSNSYou want Loctite 242 or 222, or some other brand equivalent. Some folks recommend 222 because it has slightly less locking strength, but a) it's twice as expensive, and b) haven't we already established we need MORE locking strength? Here are all the forum threads I found after a quick search:User complains of the screws falling out and finds a list of screws in a manual, which isn't that helpful since it doesn't say which is which:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-2-Pro-screws-falling-out/td-p/1761263User has screws all out, gives up and sends it in for warranty repair. Can anyone tell me where to purchase some screws for my Dell Inspiron 8100. I had some work done on it and now there are 2 screws that do not fit very well in the back and one has fallen out and is missing. I could easily replace them if I knew where to find out the right size and purchase them.
This site has a $2 and an $8 misc parts offering. I have wasted time trying to find screws or standoffs at Radio Shack and other likely places. They don't seem to want to deal in that low profit area.
The standoffs in the $2 assortment are not the commonly used ones today.
They will ship in one box and shipping is more resonable if you have more than that one item. You might want to give the rest of what they offer a look. They have many hard to find items. If your not in a hurry for the screws, you could request a catalog first. One will be included in your order but it is a little late at that point.
I am going to be changing out my motherboard in the near future. I will be putting in a ATX and I now have a Micro ATX. As luck would have it, I have lost the extra screws and standoffs I will need. I have written my case manufacturer about getting more, but on the chance I don't receive any from them, do you think the standoffs are pretty standard and I could just pick some up that would fit my case or would you think they would vary in size depending on the case. Thanks,
Unless you have proprietary hardware (such as used by Dell, for example), you will find these are standard. You should be able to pick up these up from your local computer hardware shop, or alternatively online, such as this from Amazon.

EDIT: I FIXED IT! It seems like I was forced to pull the screws down really hard. It obviously wants close contact with the CPU. Only a little drama happened.
A couple of screws have worked their way out of the bottom of my Aspire 7551, particularly one on the left hand corner with the power connector. The result being that the connection is between cord and connector is tenuous. I cannot find a list of the screw sizes for this Acer model anywhere and do not know which size to order to tighten the laptop body. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Hi bgrz ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
You may take note of the hardware manual specific to your computer which you can download from the support website.
As example ,for a Yoga 3-1470 Laptop page 33 of the hardware manual:
Part number 5S10H41038 M2 × 6 mm, flat-head, nylok-coated (11) Lower to Upper
Torque: 1.8+/-0.15 kgf.cm
Hope this help answer your query.
When I download my p3150 lexmark....download says 3100, it causes all kinds of probs with comp., sometimes it disappears even. Anyway, I found a site at lexmark about them and windows xp, they have a driver download there, for my printer, I am downloading it now, and they aslo have under utilities a download. I had to reinstall windows xp after last try with printer. My question is, since I don't have printer hooked up or software downloaded, is it ok to download the driver update, and the utility and then hook up printer? And do I still download the software that came with it, or is that what I am downloading when I download driver update? please help
Thank you Very much

I am having a problem with the 4 screws that hold the heatsink in place.
They just won't move, and so of course I am held up in building my PC until I can find a way to get them out of there. It's a Small Form Factor Acer Aspire 1400 desktop PC that has what looks like a comparatively small heatsink/fan, and it's made by a company called AVC.
I've tried a couple of different screwdrivers, but to no avail!
It would actually be more instructive if you could use the paperclip icon and attach a picture of it.http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/196395-4-heatsink-screws-wont-unscrew.html

Hello there, recently a customer came in wanting to build a new computer with an old atx case. Now, this case has pop screws for the back plate, so I told him that it may take a lot of time to build his computer. At this point he went home and started mangling his case! But now I have the same problem. I have a mobo for my new pc, but what do i do? Can I unscrew the pop screws without taking other parts of the case off as well or do I have to saw the back plate off and slide the new one in?
I would like to purchase the M3 screw kit for installing a 2.5" SSD drive in a SFF ProDesk 600 G1. I have 60 machines to upgrade to SSD. The Service Manual states on page 51, "M3 metric guide screws for 5.25-inch optical drives and M3 isolation mounting guide screws for 2.5-inch hard drives are not provided." On page 61 it shows a reference to the screws but does not provide a HP part number. http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c04331099-1.pdf
Hi: Are you planning on replacing the standard 3.5" hard drives with SSD's? If so, all you should have to do would be to get a 3.5" to 2.5" hard drive adapter and use the 4 Hard drive isolation grommets from the mechanical hard drive, transfer them to the adapter, and use the standard notebook hard drive screws that either come with the adapter or SSD's to mount the ssd to the adapter. Otherwise be prepared to pay big bucks for the screws listed on page 24. https://parts.hp.com/hpparts/Search_Results.aspx?mscssid=CF3739FF67F44688B733A9FDB63E9F31&SearchIn=P... im looking for 4 tiny black screws for this card that go on the back plate, one screw where the cooler has a spring attached to it is,that holds the cooler on anyone know where you might be able to get some and thanks in advance
Let me guess, you took the cooler off to put decent Thermal compound on , and the kids found the screws?
anywho, a couple ideas. Go to your local hardware store with GPU in hand and go down the screw and bolt ect isle (the one with all them drawers) in the machine screw section, you should find some that will work. next if you live anywhere by a Micro center, they have a good section with DIY hardware and screws.
Next, check out Frozencpu.com accessory section. you can call them, if they don't have them, they will be able to order them, or aim you in the right direction...tell'em Greg sent ya (kidding)
You can try these guys...I have yet to stump them (and I order some esoteric pieces)

Have installed Windows XP SP2 on one of my PC's and now I can't access my other computer in My Network Places.
For example if I attempt to do a net use i.e. \\computername\sharename it fails, however if I attempt to do \\ip address of other computer\sharename this works OK.
Also trying the net view command fails with error 6118 "A list of servers for this workgroup is not available".
Suspected it might be the Windows Firewall that comes with SP2, so have disabled this but it still doesn't work. Also stopped and restarted the Computer browser service on both PC's but still no joy!
Anyone out there had this problem or know how to fix it (other than uninstalling SP2 which I'm very tempted to do at the moment!)

Hello everyone, I took my stand off my all-in-one years ago to mount it on the wall. Now I want to put the stand back on, but I've lost the screws. Does anyone have any idea of what screws are needed? Thanks so much, I really appreciate your help! Please check attached picture of 5470. What is marked screws size? I believe they are M2, but need to know exactly.
My School District purchased around 120 Acer Chromebook 13s in June of last year. We've noticed over the course of the year that some were missing screws from the bottom casing. We had this issue before with a different brand last year. After talking with other local school districts, this seems to be a wide problem when it comes to Chromebooks (HP, Dell, Acer). We would like to get these screws replaced, but I can't get Acer to just send me some replacements. They want me to send in each unit for repair (even under warranty this is crazy as it costs us ~$7/unit to ship to Acer). I was wondering if any of you resourceful people out there know the screw size for this particular model? TL DR Acer is being stingy with replacement screws and I am trying to find out the size I need for the CB5-311 bottom casing screws.http://community.acer.com/t5/Chromebooks/Chromebook-13s-Cb5-311-are-losing-screws/td-p/435589/jump-to/first-unread-message
On the bottom of the laptop, quite a few are missing. What screws are used? Are they all the same?http://community.acer.com/t5/V-and-VN-Series-Laptops/What-screws-are-used-for-the-bottom-in-an-Aspire-V5-561PG-6819/td-p/441161/jump-to/first-unread-message
I repair and refurbish used laptops and I have had a number that could easily be fixed with nuts when the plastic part of the case becomes stripped or broken, but I can never find them in the appropriate size.
My current scenario is a dell laptop where the metal screen frame connects to metal hinges by screws that go through them into plastic, but the plastic is stripped and broken. If I can put a nut on the other side instead the problem should be solved. Local hardware stores here only have standard sized nuts, not metric, and extensive web searching has gotten me no results. Maybe I'm just using the wrong terms, but as far as I can find there are no nuts for 2.5mm laptop screws.
Try here: M2.5 x .45mm Hex Nuts. The M2.5 is the thread diameter of the nut. The only downside is you have to buy 50 nuts at a time but the cost shown is for all 50.
Hi everybody, I know in hardware maintenance, It mention M2.5XL6 for Hinge screw. We got some new Chromebook and using as parts. On those new Chromebook we got Orange coated Hinge Screw and I upload image and circle it. Can anybody provide me size and FRU number? Thank you.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Chromebooks-11e-X-and/x131e-hinge-new-screws/td-p/2247028
Can anyone shed some light on this?http://community.acer.com/t5/Legacy-Laptops-and-Netbooks/Aspire-7551-screws/td-p/441148/jump-to/first-unread-message
