I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Same problem here. Using beta windows 7 drivers but shows ok in device manager but doesnt work

I have the above mentioned webcam and Windows 7 Build 7000 x64 will not properly load the driver. Installing the driver is not a problem, but when I connect my webcam and windows tries to load the driver I get an error. This webcam worked in Vista 64 so it's odd that it is not working now. I'm starting to think that it's a permission issue somewhere.

I know one person has posted a similar issue about his VX1000 but that was a week ago and I'm curious to see if someone has managed to get this webcam working or has had another piece of hardware act this same way.

Thanks in advance.

Hi , Since I got my microsoft lifecam vx3000 I have been plagued with problems to do with it.Either it not starting , crashing , etc.
Ive recently downloaded the latest drivers twice and have been getting the following problem-

Whenever I click either "settings" or "special effects" tab, lifecam gives me a "preparing to install window.
To get these options to work I have to click cancel twice and the feature loads up.

Anyone else had this problem ? and anyone know of a fix ?

A:MS VX3000 Initialization error

You can try this method - you can install the vista driver (preferably as its the one thats will more than likely have the least issues) or if that doesnt work you can try the xp driver. To resolve the OS mismatch with these drivers, so they will install on W7 do the following thats if they wont install normally and you get an error :

To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

Go here to dowload

If you have already tried the vista driver and are having the problems listed go straight to installing the xp driver.

After a major crash( sometimes blue screen) or a freeze and when I have to
do a manual reboot recycling the power, the web cam is uninstalled.

After the reboot, the "found new hardware utility" starts and it identifies
the WEBCAM as new hardware. At that point, I have to erase the previous
instalation of the webcam because I don't know where WINXp keeps it's
drivers, and reinstall completely the camera. The automated sequence to find
the drivers is unsuccessful.
Basically the webcam vanishes after the crash.
I don't even know where Win saves the drivers .

I'd appreciate input.

Why doesn't my microsoft lifecam work with windows 7? Is there a simple way to fix this problem?

A:Windows 7/Microsoft Lifecam

We would need the model number to tell you a reason to why it is not working, and if there is a fix.. If there is no supported driver for windows7, you may need to attempt to use a Windows Vista driver and run it in compatibility mode.

If these options are not possible, you may have to purchase a new one.

Please reply back with the model of the webcam.

Hello people. I am new Here and first of all I want to say Hello!

Well, two days ago I bought the Microsoft LifeCam Vx 6000 and I installed it over Windows 7 64 bits version. The cam Works but the quality image is... very granulated. It's not clear. I tried to change with all webcam Resolutions but always seems granulated.

Here is an example of how my webcam does look: Imageshack - 20091230233037436

and the another problem is.. When I use the option of "Show your webcam to a friend" in Windows Live Messenger the Webcam Image is very lagged like if my internet connection was slow.. but I have a 3 MB internet connection. If I use the "Video Call" option, the Webcam Image looks just fine.

I am using the LifeCam 3.0 Drivers for Windows 7.

Not sure its a app problem or LifeCam Studio issue.
I've purchased a new desktop and install Windows 10 Home edition (fresh install). After using for 1 month, I get a webcam (LifeCam Studio). The cam is good and no need to install anything, the "Camera App" work right away. However, when I launch theTranslator app, when I click on the camera icon, the following message display:
"We couldn't get your camera started. Try using the keyboard to translate."
Check and confirmed that under:setting->Privacy->Camra is turned on and allow translator to use the camera
Why can't the translator app make use the cam and how to resolve it ? Thanks.

Hi Guys, I'm new in here. I like this forum and that was the only forum I found many solution to my problem.

The problem is simples but I don't know if is simple to resolve.

I've download the last Driver for Microsoft LifeCam 3.0 and installed. Because I know that the 3.0 version is compatible with Windows 7 x86 and x64.

No problem, the driver was installed with success but when I start the "Microsoft Life Cam" software I receive the message:

"Initialization error..."

And the weird is normal in "Device Manager":

I've just tested my Webcam in other PC running Windows 7 Ultimate x86 and work perfectly.

I guess the problem is happennig because I'm running a x64 version.

Well, somebody have any suggestion?

Thanks a lot.

A:Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 / Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Well, I'd test that x64 hypothesis if I could on another computer. It doesn't really sound right to me.

Another thing could be there was a hiccup in installing the drivers and you need to reinstall them. Uninstall the old driver completely and reinstall them.

There could be a potential hardware compatibility issue somewhere down the line.

Another thing you could do if you have the time is make a spare partition and install the x86 version on it and try the camera there and see if you still have issues, if so, then that makes it lean towards a hardware incompatibility issue.

Have you tried a completely clean instal of Win7? To ensure some third party software installed along the way isnt somehow interferring?

Also what build of Win7 are you using? It's possible a more recent build (such as the final RTM) might resolve the issue

Has anybody else noticed that this build is slower than 7077 and 7077 was slower than 7068?

I keep getting windows locking up and crashing, which is strange.

I installed Nvidia's Windows 7 drivers, choosing not to restart my computer as I was reading a website and about 5 minutes later i got a blue screen.

Also when i went to install my M-Audio sound drivers (I've been using Windows Vista x64 drivers just fine in the previous builds) in this one it told me my operating system wasn't supported. It did work, however, running it in Vista SP1 compatibility mode and as i'm not actually running the OS it's intended for i can't really complain. They work just fine now anyway.

Anybody else ran into anything like this?

Oh and of coarse, it was a clean install.

There is only two things I think could be made better in Windows 7..

So Far..Defragment needs a link to logs or/and colour display of fragments..
Windows 7 Experience - I get 5.9 slowest on HDD and RAM - I'd like to see a link that could show me/others what couldn't be run on my config, therefore showing me the need to update and Possibly what I to update..?
I Believe with my score I should pretty much be able to run anything..
which is why i built such a computer, but as time goes by there will be something eventually I need to upgrade for.

Other than that, Its been so far so good...

A:Windows 7 RC Build 7100 Suggestions

hi bloke28, and welcome to the forums!

as you say, you have a good system and shouldn't have any problems running any software, although i'm a bit surprised by your memory score - try running the test again with no apps running in the background.

a lot of people get 5.9 for their drives, it doesn't seem to matter if they have velociraptors or fancy raid setups, 5.9 is what they get.

it seems the only way to get higher scores is to buy an ultra-expensive (and oh so desirable) ssd drive.

i really hope the windows team rethink the wei in future updates/service packs - i'm not going to be pleased if my os won't let me play the latest super-duper game because it thinks i have a slow harddrive!

You have a hard drive issue.

You may be able to use it for a bit longer if you do a low-level format and then run a scandisk program to mark bad sectors.

If you did not create a Factory Recovery media, you will need to buy a Dell OEM Windows 7 DVD on eBay and re-install Windows 7.

Hi all
Possible error here in Windows Explorer (build 7100 X-64)

Expanding Computer in the window on the left doesn't show the 2 installed CD / DVD devices but only the "Virtual Device" created by UltraISO.

Double clicking on the computer shows all the devices as shown in image 2.

UltraISO or Windows prob ? Not a real "Show stopper" but I would like the system to be correct.

Hello. Due to the recent loss of my wow account to hacking I dumped and installed Windows 7 (x64) Beta Release 7100 (UpGr from WinXP 64-bit).

Windows installed and configured my sound drivers and now I have no microphone support. Whenever I try to setup my Mic through windows sounds and settings it tells me that my hardware doesnt support it.

I have an nForce 4 Chipset with an nVidia customized Realtek Soundchip. Windows Seven installed a basic Realtek driver for the device.

I have checked nVidia's website but they no longer offer up to date drivers for my hardware platform. Checked Realtek's website and all they say is "Support for your device is included with Windows Seven."

Question: Does anyone know of a driverset that will enable all the features of my soundchip weather they be by nVidia or Realtek or am I going to be stuck buying a soundcard from Soundblaster?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

A:No Mic in latest Windows 7 B-7100 release

Try the nForce5 drivers. nVidia renamed their chipsets.

Hi i recently downloaded the free windows RC version buld from the windows website I would normally leave Build Windows 7100 every Why so often Seven in Restart my laptop on all the Why in Windows Seven Build 7100 Restart every so often time and every morning when i go to check for emails and news etc i would have to log on i normally just leave my laptop locked and i would find my applications have all shutdown and a error message comes up saying an error and occured and has been solved please send to windows for a solution and this happens all the time at first i thought it would only happen once and today it happened exactly at pm as it restart right in front of me I looked on the Microsoft Website and it stated that in March they will start shutting down every two hours so i dont know what is going on i wonder does this happen to anyone else or is their a fault in my system or is there a software which will help my situation

A:Why in Windows Seven Build 7100 Restart every so often

You aren't still on the beta, you are in fact running RC 7100? (just to clarify)

Is it 1pm everyday?
Does it do a clean shutdown? Or does it just power off like when holding down the button or pulling the plug?

Do you have anything odd in your task scheduler?
Hit start>type task choose task scheduler then click on task scheduler library.

I'm installing Build 7100, or at least trying to, it seems to be staying at 0% forever in the "Expanding Files" stage. anyone else had this issue? The computer i'm on right now doesn't have a DVD burner so is the best bet to reinstall Build 7077, re-download 7100, try burning a new copy, and then try installing that new copy?

A:Windows 7100 Install Issues

No the best bet is to wait. Assuming you completely formatted the drive and the computer is fast enough and you got a good burn waiting will pay off. Try cycling the drive door. That helped me back when I used to install Windows 7 off burned DVDs -- that sounds so primitive now

Alternatively you can create a 2.5-3 GB partition, expand the iso to it, mark it active and reboot. You'll have the fastest install media in the world. Let the installer create what partitions it wants in the free space and then press shift+f10 while it's expanding files to get a prompt. Then use diskpart to activate the proper partition that setup created.

Or you can just expand the install.wim manually with imagex right onto the bare media, run bcdboot and restart. That's by far the quickest!!!

I'd be happy to walk you thru it on messenger or something.

For some strange reason, you have a 2007 version of Eset Smart Security installed in your Windows 7 RC system.

Update ESS or remove it.

Hi eversio, welcome to the forums.

Sorry to say, but this could have been caused by the upgrade.

You might want to try this though;

From the start menu, type cmd, then right-click the result & choose 'Run as administrator' this will open it as elevated. Then type sfc /scannow to run a system file integrity check, which will highlight any system file issues.
[note this process can take a bit of time (5-10 mins)[/note]

Hope this helps

STOP 0x124 refers to a Windows Hardware Architecture Error (WHEA)
The first parameter (0x0000004) refers to a hardware error on the PCI bus.
The Vendor ID refers to your Via chipset drivers.

In most cases this refers to an incompatibility of your hardware. It's possible that the drivers for the PCI Express bus (or a device connected to it) aren't fully Windows 7 compliant.

I would ensure that you have Windows 7 drivers for your video card, and Windows 7 drivers for your Via chipset. Please obtain the video drivers from the ATI website, and the chipset drivers from the Asus website (I'm not familiar with the Via website's Win7 support).

I have used my Windows 7 Beta since May, build 7100 (x64). Its fresh install and my computer is cutting edge flagship what you can buy. Windows has worked perfectly since May, but I used last windows update, shut down the comp, went to meet my parents, came back, started computer and nothing works. I can login, but cant start even a task manager. I booted it to safe mode and I ran Spybot + Regcleaner, its clean. Question whats wrong?!

I am one of these guys who doesn't use system restore, because I know what I am doing (I'm IT pro). But this is weird, because can't even run the simplest program on normal mode.

I only downloaded 3 critical updates, I don't remember well the descriptions, but they for vulnerability fixes.

Yeah i'm really happy running 7260 on my aspire one, the only "problem" i have iis the slightly flaky wireless ( still not sure if its driver related or the card its self) and the problem it self only arises when in bed surfing so I'm 99% sure its the unit over heating.

I really don't see the reason or need to put a cut down version on netbooks other then keeping the retail price of the unit it self down

Hi all,

Just installed Windows 7 on dv3660ej laptop :

(1) hibernation mode works kind of half way through. It does hibernate correctly but when coming up from hibernation, it notifies me that there were some issues and that the hibernation file was not written completely and allows me to either continue or delete the hibernation file.

see the link picture:

Hello Shalomv,

It looks like your hibernation file had just gotten corrupted somehow. Select the option to "Delete restoration data...." to continue booting normally instead of resuming from hibernation.

If this is the only time it happened, then I would not worry about it.

Hope this helps,

hey guys!

i just downloaded windows 7 rc x64.
at first i wanted to upgrade from 7000, but after the first reboot i saw blue... (BSOD)

then i thought, it would be better to do a clean install, burned the ISO on DVD and again saw BSOD even before installation progress has started (after Windows had collected information and first boot)...

now to my question:

is the BSOD caused by a bad ISO, or is anything wrong with my system?
by the way: Beta 1 Build 7000 x64 works fine...

thanks for your answers!

I finally got my Windows 7 RC downloaded, and installed it today. My total installation time is 25:38.

The breakdown is as follows:

15:54 - First Restart
21:17 - Second Restart
23:19 - User Input (User name, Computername, etc)
25:38 - First Login to Desktop

There is a margin of error of let's say 2 minutes to cover all user input, such as selecting the advanced install options, removing partitions, and all other input such as Usernames and Passwords, Product Key, etc.

When the error margin is factored in, that leaves an install time of 23:38, which beats the Build 7000 install time of also about 25 minutes...

Just done a clean install of windows 7 build 7100 RC.

The good:

Newsleecher 3.95 beta 3 now runs fine again

Spotify now runs fine as well (never run properly when i tried build 7106)
The bad:

Still has the "intel graphics adaptor has stopped responding but has recovered" issue when the power management turns off the display after a period of time and you wake it up some time after. ?

Never really could sort this one out on the previous builds really, i did try vista drivers for the intel 945 chipset, and manually installing them, but same issue. So i have been using build 7057 as this was perfect.

But i am still well pleased with this build apart from this bug, it installed fine and runs nice and fast, and all my programs run fine as well.

keep up the good work

A:Windows 7 build 7100 Still has intel graphics bug

Hey Colin, how much RAM do you have in there? One of my test systems had an intel 945G graphics card in it. 512m of ram. Every few seconds, where ever Aero was updating in the background (specifically the taskbar), it would go all brown (color of desktop). After upgrading the RAM to 1 gig, the problem disappeared. I didn't test power saving options with it, but considering the relation of this bug, it may be warranted to try it out.

If you have access to the internet as it would appear with this post, then go to, and download the OS, then create a start up disc (Ubuntu will allow you to make a disc that loads up the Linux OS without having to install the complete OS. Then backup the files you want to save, now you can reinstall or repair your windows system. Put the Ubuntu disc some place safe just in case you did it again later.

0x124 = a hardware error report being passed along by Windows. In other words, it's not a "software" blue screen.

As a suggestion, make sure your BIOS and drivers are up to date. Also, make sure nothing is being over-clocked or under-cooled.

After that, it's time to start ripping out non-essential hardware in the hope that the stop 0x124s will go away.

Are you referring to the Windows 7 7100 RC ISO?

Also, as far as burning a "recovery disk", windows is not detecting your DVD burner?

Don't use daemon tools to mount ISOs, use MagicDisk
Mount ISO Files - Freeware MagicDisc Download

If you want to burn images, use ImgBurn.

Windows may not be detecting your burner correctly, i have had this happen on old burners in older apps. With IMGBurn you can update your firmware on your DVD drive, which then it may detect it correctly after updating and rebooting.

in IMGBurn
Select "Write image file to Disk"
use the 'Tools' -> 'Drive' -> 'Check For Firmware Updates

That error can occur if the camera is plugged in to the PC before you begin the software installation. Unplug the camera from the usb port first. Now install the software. At some point during the software installation, it will prompt you to plug the camera in to the usb port. Do not plug it in until it prompts you to do so.

That procedure applies to most USB devices which require external driver software (eg printers, scanners etc)

I recently purchased a microsoft lifecam 3000 so that I can video chat with my friends.

However, one problem is that the sound does not work when I try to use it on AIM. The sound works on other applications such as facebook, etc, but the sound does not work on AIM or meebo.

If anyone can help, that will be great.

For the Lifecam VX-3000

1. Download, extract and install the Windows 7 Lifecam Drivers from the link

2. Once installation is finished you should have your USB Camera plugged in and that compatibility issue coming up.

3. Cancel everything and go to device manager (Right click computer -> Manage -> Device Manager)

4. You should see under imaging devices your webcam but with a yellow sign on it.

5. Right click it and go to update driver software

6. Click Browse your computer... and then click let me choose... there should be a button saying "Have Disk", Click on this and click on browse...

7. Locate the downloaded and extracted folder and go to:

LifeCam edit\setup\microsoft lifecam\driver64\vx3000

8. There should be a vx3000.inf file there, open this and click ok, you should see the driver listed, click ok and you will be asked if you want to install this driver warning by Windows, click Install Anyway and another compatibility error will come up, ignore this.

9. Check back on device manager if the yellow sign is on the webcam anymore, if not then everything is working fine.

Enjoy your cam.

I hope this quick little step by step will help a lot of you out.

thx my friend sandeep
