Preferred Solution: Print Drivers for Windows 7 64bits on Windows Server 2003.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

No, but you can install Windows 2003 64 bit drivers on the server. You will need to install the Windows 7 64 bit equivalent of the driver on your PC.

How do you install 64 bit print drivers on a 32 bit 2003 server

Hi,

We're rolling out Windows 7 64 Bit. We currently run 32 bit 2003 Server. I have been able to install about half of the 7 64 bit drivers, but am running into issues with others. The universal drivers do not work. We are running HP, Xerox and Dell printers. The error I am seeing is. 'The specified driver must be installed remotely from a x64 running Windows XP or Windows server 2003.' I cannot get it to work. Any ideas?

Thanks.

How do you enter the credentials on the Windows 7 machine? I've noticed that you have to use "domain\username" rather than just the username in some cases.

Hi. I am trying to troubleshoot a Windows 2003 print server as it it is showing heavy traffic and causing the server to slow down. I removed the color printers as I know that can cause somewhat of a problem. No go, I also made sure to reboot the PC, that did not work either. The PC is a Pentium 4 with tons of memory so it is a brand new PC. I also stopped and restarted the print spooler. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Hi there, i'm running windows server 2003 on one of my PC's at home and think i screwed up lol.

i have a K8N4-E Deluxe Mobo and it has 4 Sata Ports on the chipset and 4 Sata ports thorugh a SI Raid. So i now have 5 HD's and the 4 on the chipset all get reconized properly but when i try to plug #5 into the raid sata port 1 its not reconized by the system. i'm pretty sure its because i didnt install the raid drivers when i was installing windows, so my question is there a way to install the raid drivers onto the system now that windows has been fully loaded. i dont really wanna format and reinstall everything since installing everything that has to be installed takes FOREVER. i've looked on the Asus website and SI's website and dont seem to see a way.

Any information would help.

Thanks

A:Windows Server 2003 Raid Drivers

if you have the raid drivers it shouldn't be an issue to install them as long as they are digitally signed by M$ then should work great. If they aren't digitally signed then it will probably work, but there is no guarantee.

I tried to connect my Sharp AL-1641CS AIO into my computer with Windows 7 Home Premium edition, but windows couldn't recognize it. I then tried to search for a driver for it on line, but I had no luck at all. If you have knowledge on how to get that to work, please let me know. I would greatly appreciated it. hi WongSiuFu, welcome to the forums , the printer you have is no longer supported by Sharp, if you have the original disc that came with the printer you can extact the driver off the disc, but you must run it in compatibility mode Compatibility Mode hope that is a little help for you , good luck with the install

Hi All,

I am planning to buy Dell Precision 650/670 with approximately the following configuration:

DELL PRECISON 650
Intel Processor XEON 2.8GHZx2 (Dual)
Intel Motherboard 7505 CHIPSET
2 GB ECC DDR1 RAM
Supported Interfaces : IDE/SATA/SCSI
Harddisk: Optional
Optical : Optional
AGP Graphic Card
300 Watt POWER SUPPLY

I plan to run a server application on these machines, on either Windows 2003 or 2008 Enterprise Server.

I have searched the dell.com website and cannot find any drivers for these models for Windows 2003/2008 operating system.

So I just want to know that are there any working drivers (for all the system components) available for these models for Windows 2003/2008 operating system.

Has anyone been using these systems in a similar setup/environment.

Please share the drivers/links any other performance considerations necessary.

Thanks for your help and guidance.

Hi,

I have a set of 5 machines - 2 desktops (one being a thin client and the other to function as a 'server' ) and 3 notebooks. I was wondering what was the difference b/w the 2 versions Windows Server 2003 and Windows Small Business Server 2003. Is it true one cannot use a thin client but need a regular cpu setup to use Small Business Server 2003 ?

There is a difference in costs and since i have windows 2000 on the desktops and xp on the notebooks wondered if i needed to shell out so much more $$ for the Windows Server 2003 . I plan to put in a wireless networking system to link all the 5 machines.

Thanks in advance for any and all advise.

A:Solved: Difference b/w Windows Server 2003 and Small Business Server 2003

Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server has the following restrictions:
- Only one computer in a domain can be running Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server.
- Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server must be the root of the Active Directory® forest.
- Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server cannot trust any other domains.
- A Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server domain cannot have any child domains.
- Each additional server must have a Windows Small Business Server 2003 client access license (CAL). You can use CALs for each user or for each device.
The standard edition of Windows Small Business Server 2003 includes Windows Server 2003 technologies, including fax service, firewall service, and remote-access service. Additionally, it includes Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, enhanced tools for server monitoring and administration, and an out-of-the-box solution for internal Web sites. The standard edition is ideal for customers who do not require the higher-level functionality included in the premium edition

The premium edition includes everything in the standard edition, plus Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000, and Microsoft FrontPage® 2003. The premium edition is ideal for small businesses with more demanding IT needs, such as data-intensive line-of-business applications, or advanced firewall and Web-caching capabilities

The standard edition has most of the stuffs inside.

Currently we are on an NT network with a few 2000 servers tossed in. Today I learned that the plan is to migrate everything to Linux. Lets assume that this only applies to the servers and that the users will still operate with 98/nt/2000/xp. What are your thoughts on this?

I put this in this forum for a reason. Because I'd rather get the advice from 2000 and 2003 experts who know what Linux cannot replace than to hear the Linux fanboys and anti-Microsoft activists praise it to the high heavens.

What would your concerns be if this was done on your network? What problems have you encountered if you'd tried this? Or what successes? Know of any businesses that have done this successfully?

Please help me before I go insane!

I am trying to install the Print Management Console for Server 2003 R2

So far I have added the role of Print Server to the server.

Discovered that the reason Print Management Console wasn't an option in the Admin Tools because you have to install it from Disk 2.

Tried to install it and was told that the version of windows I was running wasnt the correct one for this update.

Tried updating to R2 (how do you tell if the version your running is R2 or not?) but was told the version of Windows I was running is newer than the one on the disk.

All I want is the PMC installed... some one please help!!!

Questions:

1) How do I tell whether I am already running R2 or not?

2) How do I get the PMC on this damn server?

I'm just trying to figure out what will be the easiest way to move everything since I have about 700 users on NT lol. I really don't want to type all the names in again on 2003....Thanks in advance! :approve:

We had:

1) 1 Windows Server 2003 running Active Directory services to manage logon and permissions for file sharing.
2) 15 workstations.

We now want to have:

1) 1 Windows Server 2008 R2 server running Active Directory services to manage logon and permissions for file sharing.
2) 15 same workstations, with their same user profiles.

So I joined the 2008 R2 server to the domain, and then used the dcpromo tool to make it a domain controller.

Problem is, whenever I take the old server offline, (the 2003 one) everything flips out, logons are slow, and the 2008 server gives people trying to access shared files weird errors like that the server that authenticated them cannot be contacted, and asks them to log in again with their username and password before accessing shared files on the server.

What did I do wrong? I must be forgetting something.

A:Non Admin not able to connect OPC server in Windows Server 2003

From what I've read on this thread, you'll need to set computer-wide DCOM security permissions. You'll want to peruse that thread.

On another note, this isn't really the best spot for this question. An error message isn't a crash, hang or bsod, and the situation is more relevant to specifically the Windows Server section (even though OPC servers can and often do exist in many client versions of Windows). You'll be able to receive more help there, as it's pertinent to your needs.

A:Windows 2003 Server installation in Dual Boot on already installed Windows 7 Laptop

Couple of things you can do after installing 2003.

Boot from the W7 dvd select repair my computer and do a startup repair, most of the time this fixes the bootloader for W7, but then 2003 may not boot now. So then you need to install a BCD editor software in W7 to get both of them booting properly.

http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1

If startup repair does not get W7 booting again, there are some commands you can do from the W7 recovery environment to get the job done, (boot from the W7 cd, select repair my computer, then command prompt)

Hi All,
After patching the updates of an existing Windows 8.1pro Client, I'm unable to connect to shared folder of Windows 2003 Server...But, you can connect by typing the IP of the Server....Eg: \\192.168.1.2 but not by the Server name...eg: \\Tac-Server...
Please note that the Windows update went smoothly without any error and now it's showing no more windows update but directly upgrade to Windows 10.
Can you please help me to sort out this issue.
Thanks

A:Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Wi

Try temporarily disabling your antivirus application and if you have a third-party firewall installed, enable the Windows firewall temporarily but disable the third-party one.

This has solved the same problem for many other people according to what I've read elsewhere on other forums. Seems to be a common problem with Net Framework updates.

If this solves the problem and the update installs okay, you can re-enable your antivirus and third-party firewall, but remember to disable the Windows firewall as having two firewalls running together is not advisable.

When I try opening any online video, (online clip, or streaming media) I get this message "windows media player cannot play this file. Connect to the internet or insert the removable media on which the file is located, and then try to play the file again. BUT I'm online and can do I think everything online. I disbaled windows firewall and don't have any currently installed. I've tried going to options and enable everything and configure everything to automatic, BUT that wouldn't help either. The few Windows 95 and Windows 98 computers we have left are all getting the same failure to print due to unknown network error type message. Hi,

We have an unusual problem here that I hope someone can help me with.

We recently implemented 2 Windows 2003 Servers in a cluster which are acting as print servers.

The print notifications are enabled to be sent to the computer that originated the print request.

The problem is that the print notifications are appearing on the client PC a long time after the print jobs have completed. In some cases the message will appear the following day.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestion then please let me know. If you have any further questions then please ask.

Hi all,

Just inherited a new network to administer and its riddled with litte problems. Spent the last 2 weeks getting individual desktops up to snuff and making sure antivirus was installed, functonal and effective and now I a problem that started yesterday and has me stumped

So I have a nice Windows Server 2003 problem to start you off with. The print spooler keeps stopping for no obvious reason. I can restart it ok without any error messages but minutes later I get nother call from a terminal services user complaining all the printrs have dissappeared and voila Print Spooler is stopped again.

The WIN32_EXIT_CODE is 1067 but so far I haven't been able to find anything that points to the cause of the problem.

I must admit its not the only problem on the server/network at the moment but its the one having the biggest impact so its top of the list

I have a Dell 8300 with 1.2G Ram and 30G HD. I want to change the OS from Windows XP Home to Windows Server 2003. I have started the installation and the screen is on the one showing the existing partition and unpartitoned space on the computer:

29322 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MBR]

-: Partition1 [FAT] 31 MB < 24 MB free >
C: Partition2 [NTFS] 29298 MB < 24985 MB free >

Should I delete both partitions? I want the hard drive as clean as possible. I plan to try many of the services such as IIS. I will install SQL Server 2000, Visual Studio 2003 .NET. I probably will buy another hard drive (80G or more) as a second drive later on. For now, how should I partition the 30G HD?

Hi guys,

thank you very much in advance..

Should be the same as to Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP

Install 2003 first. You'll know right away if it can see the HD or if it needs the SATA Drivers - Slipstream into Windows XP CD.

Once it's installed boot WIn7 installer to create the second partition you should leave space for during previous install. It will configure the Dual Boot menu, or else install EasyBCD to 7 to add 2003.

Hi All, Just thought I'd share this useful piece of information. One of our clients had a strange problem on their domain controller.

Server Model: HP Proliant DL385

Event Viewer: source NetBt event id 4311 Description: Initialization failed because the driver device could not be created.

Ipoconfig results:
Windows Internal Error: The request is not supported. Contact Microsoft for product support. Unable to query DNS name

I have reinstalled / updated network card drivers. Updated firmware on both NICS. Disabled NIC Teaming. Replaced mainboard with onboard NICS. Reset winsock to reload tcp/ip suite.

Finally perused through microsoft updates and read that KB951746 and KB951748 is a security update for DNS and modifies many sock files. I uninstalled these 2 updates which was strangely timestamped as installed 2 months before the problem even occured.

The DC is back online, IPconfig is working, DNS, DHCP, and AD all okay.

A:Windows 2003 Server - ipconfig Windows Internal error

Interesting one, nice to know. I've seen this before though its usually related to RRAS, IPv6 or an interrupted update.

Maybe removing the updates just caused TPC/IP to be uninstalled and reinstalled in the background, or the stack to be reset. Which is one of the fixes for the error.

Though from the looks of it you've didi that anyway with no success, never heard of the update causing any problems but I'll be on the look out, cheers.

Hello SMetla, welcome to Seven Forums!

I have no knowledge of 2003 as I've never fooled with it but you may need run startup repairs to get back to Windows 7 after you install 2003 and the startup repairs should add a boot entry to the Windows boot menu; start by having a look through this tutorial but do not change the "System" partition by marking anything as active before you start the installation process.

Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

Do you have an external Hard Disk Drive you could save an image of the existing system to before you start; this is an excellent free program to use.

Hi there,

I am testing some of our computers on our school system and got to the stage of joining it to our domain. They joined fine but the domain had never been connected to vista or windows 7 so it tried to upgrade itself. This crashed the server because it only had permission to change the sub domain. Is there any way to join without this effect happening or could someone at least tell me in more detail what happened?

Which server version(s) are you running over there? Server 2003 or Server 2003 R2?

I work in IT at my uni, and we have an eclectic mix - but I have joined countless machines here that are running Vista to the AD (previously it was Server 2003, but we recently (2 months ago?) upgraded our DCs to 2003 R2 - and have never had this happen before....

however, I could talk to our network admin tomorrow to see if he had already previously performed some sort of patch to allow for Vista based machines to join the domain....

Hi,

I have windows server 2003 and windows xp pro on my home computer. Now I really need to reinstall windows xp. I know that the sequence for installing multi windows OSes on the same computer should be from oldest OSes to lastest OSes. This means I should install windows xp and then windows server 2003. Last time, I reinstalled windows xp when windows 2003 is already installed. The result was I couldnt boot in windows server! So how can I install Windows xp without affecting my server OS? Should I install them on different hard disks (I got two hard disks)?

Back up Boot.ini file.

You could install windows Xp and then edit/replace the boot.ini file with the one you backed up.
Or once XP is installed you can run a Manulal repair off windows 2003 cd on the boot files.

This is not a direct connect issue. This is a corporate network with Windows 2003 print servers and dozens of 2300 & 1200 printers. We have hundreds of W7 clients (both x86 & x64). What we need, is to be able to install the Win7 drivers support on the 2003 print servers so the Win7 clients can connect to the printer queues via the print server and automatically download/install the driver from the print server like all of the other OS clients do currently.

Hi Guys I hope someone reading Print Server 7 Windows and Belkin this can help me I have recently upgraded from Windows XP bit to Windows bit and having Belkin Print Server and Windows 7 severe problems with my Belkin F UP Print Server and associated Brother HL- D laser printer All worked under XP with a static Belkin Print Server and Windows 7 IP - no problems If I connect the Brother via USB it works fine so the drivers are there Not sure if it s W included drivers or the Vista it I also downloaded If I use the Network Wizard in W to find the printer and server box it will and I can print Next time I switch on the computer and printer it won t print and appears to be offline I am using these settings Static IP outside the range on the Router - Port RAW Protocol RAW TCP IP ticked FTP also ticked I think I need this for other wirelessly connected computers Problem is it how do I get W to realise the printer is there and not offline Many thanks for any help it s been driving me mad nbsp

A:Belkin Print Server and Windows 7

Another thought on my problem:
The Brother laser printer has both USB and centronics connections.
Can I connect my computer to the centronics whilst also connecting the USB to my print server (the print server works from other computers as they are using XP)?
If so can I use a USB to centronics cable? I have seen some reports these cables do not work with 64 bit systems. Anybody have any views on this please?

OR can I put a parallel PCI card in my pc and connect directly to the laser printer that way?
Will a parallel PCI card work with Windows 7 64 bit?

Thanks for any thoughts or ideas.

running windows 7 on an hp g62 laptop when I try to print through a linksys psus4 print server to a psc 1315 hp printer.
adjustments: upgrade firmware to 7034, change to tcp/ip printing, change advanced settings to print direct to printer.
With these changes, I can print a windows test page ok but nothing else. I tried typing a page on notepad and was able to print it but could not print out anything from emails or from websites, Before I changed to print direct to printer, the windows test page would only print out 3/4 of the page and then show an error and need to be reset and restarted.
I was able to print by sharing the printer and printing to it through an XP desktop. That is not really a very efficient way to print. Please help

Hello Tech,

I am in search of a driver for Vista 64-bit that will work with the the Linksys wireless Print Server listed above.

Currently when I try to install the software on the CD I get a message that says the OS is not supported.

I looked on Linksys's website but couldn't find anything for Vista 64-bit.

Anyone know anything that would work?

I have a problem that is not consistent and it deals with print drivers.
On a system that was recently launched with Win 7 OS, into an Small Business Server 2003 active directory integrated environment. I install the drivers for the print devices mentioned below from a networked print server.

I installed the drivers with my Domain Admin credentials and tested the connections. All is well, for a time, then it happens. The end user, at differing times, is asked for permission to install print drivers, then is asked for administrator credentials.

With my Domain Admin credentials, I allow intallation and it works for a while...then it happens again.

Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance.

Our home has a mixed-platform network composed of three Windows 7 machines, two Vista machines, and (hopefully) one Windows XP print server. I would love to upgrade the print server to Windows 7, but it doesn't have enough RAM.

How can I connect the Windows XP print server to my home network? I don't need the ability to share files over the network. I simply need to be able to print directly to the laserjet from any of my networked machines.

I've poked around the forums and elsewhere on the Internet, and have come across variants of this question but haven't found any clear-cut instructions that explain how to do this.

Thanks!

A:Using windows 7 desktop as a print server via router!

Basically, you would share the printer and access the printer through the share on the laptop.

You have to setup the Share on the Printer itself though first.

Also, you may need to share other folder locations if they are not shared by default.
ie. the desktop is not a shared resource by default.

Also, on the XP machine you need to install a patch for ..... Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder (KB922120)

A:DCOM service on Windows Server 2003 - "Server execution failed" when connecting

I found the answer.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroup...-DC48AB0DA5C9&dglist=&ptlist=&exp=&sloc=en-us

The above discussion says that a service must enter a running state before a COM server calls CoRergisterClassObject. So I guess its a development problem.

Not sure why it only manifests on Windows Server 2003 though.

Information for how to configure a Windows2003 VPN server can be found at:

You don't need to make any changes or additions to shares in regards to VPN client's being able to access previous shares on the server. Whatever you have assigned for the LAN access can work for VPN.

A:Printer on Linux cups server - can't print from Windows 7

Correction: the cups error messages I described above don't occur while trying to print from Windows 7. Instead, they occur only while the Windows 7 printer installation wizard is running, immediately after entering the printer's uri in the wizard dialog (and before selecting the printer driver).

After the wizard finishes and reports "successfully installed...", and I try to send something to the printer, I don't think anything is sent over the network at all. I did a wireshark capture, and I don't see any activity that seems to be related to the attempted printing.

Has Windows completely disabled IPP now?

I've just installed a wireless Belkin Print Server and having several problems. There are 3 computers, 2 on Windows 2000 and a lap top on XP. At first 2 of the printers could print fine. Then I downloaded the printdrivers for the HP 6110 on to the 3rd machine. Since then the drivers have been deleted from the other 2 computers - and the download version doesn't work. So now none of the computers can print.

I can reinstall the drivers - but what is to stop this happpening all over again?

The network is wireless (netgear) using BT Broadband. Can any one suggest what I can do to retsore the printer - incidentally after the pc drivers disappeared I checked the lap top and it was fine until it was switched on - it worked once then went teh same way as the others...Can anyone help?

A:Windows server 2003

These are from my notes when I've done this. I am showing a basic setup. You can do much more than this, but it would require a complete tutorial to identify everything.

* Assumed:
- Windows 2003 Server is installed, and has a static intranet [email protected]
- Your internet router is set to route port 80 to this box
- You have addressed any firewall issues along the way
- Your home page is named "Default.htm"
- You are not using virtual directories
- You want static page delivery (no applications / scripts / etc)

* Application Server Role Setup
- Start "Configure Your Server Wizard"
- Select "Application Server" and press "Next"
- Application Server Option screen
+ select "FrontPage Server Extensions"
+ select "Enable ASP.NET"
+ press "Next", then "Finish"

* Create web site
- rt-click on "Web Sites" / new / Web Site
- Web Site Description screen
+ Description --> <fill in>
- IP Address & Port screen
+ Enter IP Address --> "All Unassigned"
+ TCP port --> 80
+ Host header --> <leave blank>
- Web Site Home Directory screen
+ Path --> <folder holding your pages>
+ "Allow anonymous access" --> <allow>
- Web Site Access Permissions screen
+ "Read" --> select
+ "Run scripts" --> de-select
+ "Execute" --> de-select
+ "Write" --> de-select
+ "Browse" --> de-select
- rt-click on web site / Permissions
+ add "Everyone" for "Read & Exec" & "List Folder Contents" & "Read"

* Set security permissions on the www folders
- Everyone --> read
- {owner} --> full

* Create your home page in specified folder, with name "default.htm"

I hope this helps.

Hi,

I'm deciding about buying a dedicated server for webhosting.
One quick question, when is better to use windows server 2003 and when is better to use Linux?
In particular, I was told that in windows server 2003 I can use ASP and PHP without problems, but not in Linux.... is it true?
Can I have a technical explanation for this?

thanks

A:server windows 2003 ?

ASP is a Microsoft website language, and so I'd assume you need Microsoft's IIS webserver to use it (or that IIS would provide the best support for it). PHP should work on a Linux server without any trouble.

First of all, you should really keep your software in a safe place. You're playing with fire. Secondly, is there an I36 folder anywhere on the machine??

Hello all,

I have a server that's in a datacenter. I can RDP to the server without any problems ok. I would like to know if there's anyway that I can log in remotely and connect to my server as if I'm physically at the server loging into the console. Basically I would like to leave a couple programs running on my server as if I'm logged in at the console so it won't affect or take away from RDP connections.

As you all know Windows server allows to connections simultaneous via RDP without having to buy or run a Terminal Services License server. I know this can be done but I don't know how. Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks in Advance.

hi, I have configured a fax server on a windows 2003 machine. I am able to send faxes from xp pro clients and get notification that the fax has been sent successfully. However, I am wondering if there is a way I can get a desktop pop up message to notify me on the client of an incoming fax. The notification shows up on the server, but not the client machine? Can anyone help please? thanks
