HP Pavillion DV9000

Q: HP Pavillion DV9000

was wondering if anyone could help me please, i installed windows 7 onto my laptop a while ago and as i don't use my CD-ROM very much i've only recently realised it no longer works, i've had a look under device management and 'coprocessor' has a yellow triangle by it and ! mark ?

I'm really useless when it comes to technology but was wondering if anyone could help me in finding out how to fix this problem please?

i've tried to update driver software but that does not work, and states windows could not find driver software for your device

and underneath properties it states;

"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element."

thanks again for any help really appreciate it

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:I am new to computers an i have a used hp pavillion dv9000 a...

I hope you did not pay too much for it since the dv9000 is known to possibly have serious problems with the motherboard. Still, we would need to know a bit more about it to figure out what it is possible to do. Some of them came with as little as 1 gig of memory and that would explain why it is so slow and would not be expensive to fix. Look on the bottom of the laptop for the full model number.

Hi I need to replace a screen on the above laptop - however I am unsure which screen I need - there seems to be one with a dual back light - and a 17.3" screen size as wellas the 17" - any ideas how I could find out which part I need ?

A:HP Pavillion DV9000 - Which screen to replace

Look on the back of the screen itself there should be some numbers on the back of the screen type model number from the back of the screen into google or eBay that will give you the correct screen.

My HD crashed and no, I didn't back it up. I installed new drive and fresh load of Vista 64. (I actually like Vista) it is updating as we speak. What I need to know is where to get all of the stuff HP put on it when they built it. Right now the cd drive works but the remote control doesn't nor does the wireless. I know some of the SW that HP installs from the factory is intrusive, but I'd really like to put this thing back to as new condition.
Where can I get this base load HP software?

We pick up,a version of the sirefef DT virus.Been busy with somebody here that helps to clean it.However,my question, according to the IT guy(who helps me local),it might be qiucker just to just do a complete new installation( i do not have a disk).I wants to know, how safe would the recovery partition be.Would the virus not also been able to infect that part.As its vital that i do not infect my other computers too, with this crap.

A:Hp PAVILLION DV9000 series infected with virus

Performing a System Recovery with the recovery partition should solve your problem.Of course it is easier, there is little to no work involved. The trouble is that all your information is lost and the computer is restored to factory conditions. If this is something you're interested in, then yes, it will work.Having said that, I suggest working with the Malware Removal Team to clean out your computer.I would run you through the usual scans, but I see you have done that in another thread.I also see you have started a thread in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs section, but you didn't follow any of the other instructions given.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Make sure to follow all directions this time (the DDS and GMER log are especially important):Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic. If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient. If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.

You are right.
Geforce 7150M is nvidia chipset (nForce 630M) and nvidia chipset drivers are not available nowadays at all.

What you may try here is ....... uninstall the installed driver. Let windows update search for a display driver. Device Driver Automatic Installation - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 - Windows 10 ForumsIf it finds any, the job will be done. It will be usable again.

Hi all,

I have an HP Pavilion DV9000 and have been looking to get a new laptop for school next month. I have had this computer since December 2006 and haven't had many problems with. I've heard about all the problems with it and have only experienced the one about the broken hinges so far. I have noticed a drop off in performance recently, fairly big too. Load times slow, picks what programs it wants to install, etc. Anyway, anyone know how long this computer will last? I is almost 4 years old now and don't want to have to get a new one if I can get another year or two out of it.

I suspect I may need a new video card, however, i haven't got a clue. any suspicions or advice?

Hi guys

I have just purchased a DV9657em with the intention of repairing (usual graphics problem).

I have a replacement working board for the machine but the part numbers are different and various components i.e ram slots are upside down compared to the old board.

However, when all is connected there is no display at all.

I have tried the usual things like checking ram, processor etc... and have had the screen plugged into another machine and is working.

I am hoping that the boards are interchangeable on DV9's but now am not so sure

I do have another DV9 I can check it on but it is the intel model, not the amd one that I have.

Any ideas?

Ok, but will most likely have a different chipset and may not support your current processor, it is best to stick with the same motherboard part number.

Its a gamble on what problems you may encounter using a different part number as a substitution.

Further Details:
Motherboard: 441534-001
Processor: AMD
GPU: nvidia geforce 7600
OS: Win 7 -64 bit
Ram: 4GB
Should i change my motherboard now or do u think there would be any other minor problems that can be looked upon.....pls help

A:Hp Pavilion dv9000 wont boot

Changing the motherboard on a laptop is not really an option. Cost wise it will probably be about the same as buying a new laptop.
I have had laptops labelled dead by repair shops when all that needed doing was to re seat some connector. Link to video on how to take the laptop apart
Fair warning: it's going to take MUCH longer than the 15 min of the video to dismantle it and putting the thing back together is tedious and delicate work

Alright, first I'd like to thank you for your help. I'm having a very frustrating issue with my HP Pavilion dv9010us. I soled it to a friend, and he installed windows 7, I believe it to be the home 32 bit edition. Windows 7 is not compatible with HP dv9000 ?He brought me the computer and told me the monitor wasn't working. So I checked it out... I swear I've tried almost everything, and I'm about to through it out. I've tried using an external display, still didn't work. I need help, I'm really frustrated and growing impatient. Your help is much appreciated, I'm about to QQ .

A:HP dv9000 no display after installing windows 7

Have you attempted to boot from a "Live CD" or a Windows 7 install disc. I suspect that the onboard video card has died. Reason is that you cannot get an external display to work. The HP DV9000 series machines are able to be upgraded in some cases. I have a DV9810us that runs just fine with Windows 7 32 bit.

Good luck

If you can't get into the Recovery Partition, HP offers a replacement. With the partition it takes about a half hour to restore the OEM to its original condition. If you have to order the replacement, count on eight hours plus all the restoring of backup and program replacement times.

My son has an HP DV9000 computer with dual hard disks that just died totally. It won't turn on, no lights. To be clear, it is as though it has no power whatsoever.

It's been sitting in a cabinet for a few years as he can't bring himself to through it out.

I know the HP DV series computers were plagued with runs of boards and it seems I read something somewhere that said the bad and good boards could be identified by chipset.

So, here's my question: Is that true? And if it is true, where can I find information on distinguishing the good and bad boards?

If not, is there an easy way to determine which ones did and which ones did not?

Just saw another web site that brings up another question:

Is there a limit on the size of the disks I can put into each bay on the DV9000 systems that have the two-hard-disk capability?

The reason I ask is I already have a DV6000 running Windows 7, 32-bit with a 640G that seems to work just fine and I was hoping to be able to use two very large (maybe up to 1TB) in each bay on the DV9000.

A:Help Needed For Hard Drive On HP DV9000

Hello, vulcanbomber! You can use any brand or size drive in you computer, as long as it is a 2.5 inch SATA drive. Replacing the drive requires a very small phillips screwdriver, so just buy a cheap set of jewelers screwdrivers. Replacing the drive is as easy as removing two screws that secure a cover, pulling out the old drive, swapping drives into a carrier (4 screws) and replacing the drive and cover. Very easy. HP has all the maunuals you need here. Either of the "drives" links tells you how to change the drive. The Maintenence and Service Guide covers all repairs; just so you know if you ever need it.

the lcd swivel hinge is quite good and doesn't wobble at all

the open and close part of the hinge is tight enough that the lid will stay open and not close on itself, but it is rather wobbly and floppy. there is a high degree of bend before you actually feel the resistance of the hinge

my question is:

is there a tutorial somewhere or does someone know how to tighten this hinge?

Our laptop, HP Pavilion DV9000 (Vista Home), is equiped with a wireless wi-fi card. Suddenly, there is no connection to our router, hence no internet. I went into the System, Device manager, to check the status. I could not find anything on the wi-fi card, just the standard network controller.

I tried to open HP Wireless Assistant program, it would not launch.

Can someone advise if it's a hardware problem, that the wi-fi card needs to be replaced?

Some of the keyboards which don't have separate numpad on the right, the numpad is actually "integrated" with some alphabetical keys (mostly those on the right side of the keyboard like O, P, K, L, N, M.)

When you press numlock, these pre-assigned alphabetical keys start working as the numpad, so you see numbers being inputted. Fresh install of Windows will not fix this. It's the way keyboard is designed.

And yes you can find driver for those devices on HP website. You need to know the model number of the machine.

Hi, Instead of complete disassembly...Why did you not consider removing the hard disk to see if the reboot loop stops. That was the second thing you should have tested after the RAM.  A failed hard disk can cause reboots.  With the hard disk removed you could have used a live distro of Linux to see if all of your hardware was OK.  That way you could have isolated the cause and known if it was a hardware or operating system issue.  Best regards, erico

Devise Manager Shows 2 base system device drivers needed on my HP Pavilion dv9000.........
Can't seem to find anything to work and with Hp neglecting Windows7 "HP Support Forum" here is my best chance....Any Advice Appreciated.......Plo24k

A:hp Pavilion dv9000 base system device drivers needed

Welcome to seven forums Pablo24k: Your base system device drivers are either a Ricoh or Texas Instruments card reader and the other possibly an Alps or synaptics touch pad driver.Try going to the HP web site and installing the drivers in those categories. If Vista is only available Use it in compatibility mode Compatibility Mode Please post back Thanks Fabe Ok on the site they are synaptics touhj pad and Ricoh card reader Vista only Of course unless your model # is followed by one of the many different versions like CTO.ea, t CTO, z CTO. I only checked with the first dv9000 C T O Hope this will help.

The final BIOS for dv9200 series is F2D, it has been almost 2 years HP not updating the BIOS for this model.F3D is more model shipped with AMD processor. Many of dv9000 owners that have geforce 7600 have to let their notebook rest in piece due to Nvidia issue. If you have a working notebook, than I'm suggesting not to force it run too much, just use HP drivers and take extra caution with the temperature fluctuation. Download Hwmonitor to check the temp, hereIdle temp for GPU around 60C, check yours. Use it always with external cooling pad and never ever play serious game in it.

Hi All,

This morning my HP DV 9000 laptop screen comes up grey with no discerning images. I have an additional monitor attached (for TV) and booted into safe mode with networking and can see the desktop in VGA on separate monitor only.

Looking in Device MGR I have two 'base system devices that need attention. They are not identified as to what they are only PCI Bus 7 device 5 function 3 & PCI bus 7 device 5 function 2. I have no idea where to start with this? Anybody?

Win 7 Prem Home 32 bit SP1
Intel 5500 @ 1.66ghz
2GB ram
NVIDIA geoforce 7600

Last night - everything ran fine. Read newspaper online & watch TV on separate monitor. Everything closed down without issue.

A:No Display & base system device drivers missing on my HP DV9000 laptop

Some laptops have the option of outputting the display signal to LCD, VGA or Both.
I'm not sure that you have those options, but it's worth checking out in the BIOS.
There's also the possibility that your LCD backlight may have gone out and needs to be replaced.

I removed the battery to switch of. When switching on the next time I got a message "scanning and repairing hard drive". This progressed to 9% and then made no further progress. After 10 hours I finally removed the battery again as there was no other way to do this. What can i do to revert to correct operation'/

Dear Customer, Try a Hard Reset as follows. Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for a full minute.  Plug in the AC Adapter ( leave the battery out for the moment ) and see if the notebook will start. If it doesnt load,Please perform the Steps as shown below:-1. Please "Turn OFF" the Notebook2. "Power ON" the Notebook and keep tapping the Escape Key during the start up to enter the Start-up Menu3. Trying to help my daughter out, She has a laptop HP Pavillion DV6 that will only boot in the safemode. She called HP and of course she is 60 days out of warranty. Any suggestions? She's try to restore it to a point about a week ago but the same thing keeps happening, just boots in safemode.

Thanks for any and all suggestions,

A:HP Pavillion DV6

Hi sonbon,

Does the computer give out an error when your daughter tries to boot the computer to windows normally? Go to the safe mode menu again and this time, choose "Boot the computer to last known good configurations". See if this helps out at all. I would also recommend performing an In-Place Upgrade(Windows Repair) on the computer. You will definitely need your Windows 7 CD in order to perform this process. When was the last the computer was able to work successfully?

Hi, I have hp pavillion a6317c pc, I unpluged it for 8 months, now it wont boot, power led stays on, green light on the back stays on, fans on, no signal to the monitor, try to turn it off but power light stays on, had to unplug it to turn it off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Hp pavillion

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

See if you can boot it without the battery.

If that doesn't work unplug the battery and power cable.

Then press and hold the power button for 45 seconds.

Replug in the power and battery to see if it will boot.

A:Need Help with HP Pavillion

Solved the problem myself. Opened the tower and changed the port that the SATA drive cable connected to. At least after doing that and restarting the computer I was able to get into BIOS. Showed no hard drive as being recognized. Went to HP's site and found that Seatgate had a problem with some of the hard drives (500, 700, etc.) After calling a technician with HP it was decided that the hard drive had failed (no indication of it failing-it just stopped!!!)

HP is sending a new hard drive and a recovery disk (the recovery partition was on the hard drive that failed. No cost. There was still 50 days left on the warranty.

I guess we were LUCKY!

Thanks for looking at my computer problem.

Hi, Shutdown the notebook.  Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu.  Select the Diagnostic Menu option ( f2 ) and run the tests on the Hard Drive. Post back with the results, including any error codes that may be generated. Can you also post back with the version of the operating system currently installed on the notebook. Regards, DP-K

Hi. I bought this laptop used from someone online. I know it is old. It uses the FS1 socket, and has an A4 processor. So I can't expect too much. But it just locks up on me aall the time. As soon as I try to open anything, it just locks up. The day I got it, I was able to open Google Chrome and watch some Youtube videos. The next day, nothing. I think the HDD is screwed, and I would like to replace it with an SSD. My problem is, it will not detect my SSD. What can I do to get my SSD installed in this thing, so that hopefully I can use it for some basic things on the go?
