Sudden onset of issues

Q: Sudden onset of issues

I've had Windows installed since the Sudden issues onset of RTM has been available and I've had no issues until last night While browsing the internet last night windows explorer crashed and recovered about times then I'd see random copies of windows open and quickly close on the taskbar Shortly after bluescreen When I rebooted I went to play some Left Sudden onset of issues Dead and roughly every clicks I'd see my desktop flash up After that Sudden onset of issues I noticed Sudden onset of issues some other things if I try and click on a drop down box the entire program will appear to open and close it vanishes for a moment and reappears on the taskbar and if I drag a window slowly across the screen the entire screen goes white along with the taskbar apart from a few programs screencapped this For troubleshooting I've tried the following Switching from Aero to classic Running Windows update Updating graphics drivers Reseating graphics card Creating a new user account All problems gone on this user account so I'm sure there's something wrong with my user account itself So can anyone think what's going on here

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Sudden onset of issues

Maybe scan for malware with your AV and Malwarebytes . . . but perhaps not if only affecting one account.

Also, another instance where system restore might provide a quick and easy fix if you have a recent restore point available from before this problem started occurring.

About a week ago my computer suddenly became painfully slow (to the point that the startup and shutdown sounds stutter). CPU usage bounces around 50% without anything running, but the computer works perfectly fine in safe mode. There were no changes or updates that proceeded the issue.

I have run multiple scans with my anti-virus software (trend micro) after updating to the latest definitions in both safe mode and normal startup, but it has not found anything. I have run a system restore back to before the issue occured to no avail. I have attempted to determine the source by modifying my startup programs and services through msconfig, no sucess. Giving up and hoping for some help!

Thanks,

Sean

A:please help, multiple strange failures all with sudden onset

Hello:

I've been working on this for most of this weekend (oh what fun) and may have made some progress. McAfee found and removed two pieces of Malware. One was called "doubleclick" and the other "adtmt". It didn't find those in all the other times I've scanned with it, so I don't know if they caused these problems or not.

I also ran McAfee Virtual Technician and it didn't find any problems other than a slightly outdated definition file.

Also, I think problem 4, regarding the USB headset, might be a bad USB hub. The headset works fine if I plug it directly into the computer. Perhaps it's just a coincidence the problem developed contemporaneously with the others.

I'm not convinced I'm malware free and am wondering if some nasty rootkit is hiding on my box.

All of the other problems remain. Can anybody offer some suggestions as to what I should do next?

Thank you,
GeoRanger

A:Windows 8/8.1 slow boot (sudden onset)

Seglea
Though not definitive there are over 200 seconds of incrase due in part to the HD thrashing.  I would defrag and run CHKDSK as a first step

CHKDSK /R /F
Chkdsk disclaimer: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found  any data available on that sector might be lost so as usual backup your data.
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt.
Do this for each hard drive on your system.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter.

Then reboot and let the test run.
It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors.
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/guide-to-using-check-disk-in-windows-vista/

See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.

CHKDSK LogFile:
Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.
Double click on the Source column header.
Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Win7) (winlogon for XP).
Copy/paste the results into your next post.

My Word files are suddenly going haywire. Periodically I will be scrolling through a document, and where there was once text, there is now strange characters. Chunks of text have disappeared.

If I close the file and reopen, the file seems to revert to where it was with no loss. But it freaks me out.

Was also working with some tables in Word and the program on its own started adding new rows and wouldn't stop. Had to shut down.

Software and Adware are up to date. Haven't see this with other programs, but haven't tested it much.

Already tried removing and reinstalling Word. Haven't see same prob when opening same docs on other computers.

Is this a software problem? Display? Input hardware?

Running Word 2000 on Presario Notebook. Windows XP.

Welcome to BCC:\WINDOWS\system32\aspimgr.exehttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/a....exe-18301.htmlLet's start off with Mbam and see what we can find-----------------------------------The process of cleaning your computer may require you to temporarily disable some security programs. If you are using SpyBot Search and Destroy, please refer to Note 2 at the bottom of this page. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself.Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note:-- If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. Note 2:-- MBAM may make changes to your registry as part of its disinfection routine. If you're using other security programs that detect registry changes (like Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere with the fix or alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please disable such programs until disinfection is complete or permit them to allow the changes. To disable these programs, please view this topic: How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs---------------------------------

A:Internet issues all of a sudden

Do you have any other PCs connected to your network and do they work OK

this maybe a malware issue -
but first check

Checking the Host file
Open Notepad - Start> Programs> Accessories> and right click on Notepad select "Run as Administrator" to open a notepad
Now goto 'File' > 'Open' and browse to the HOSTS file - which will be located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. - you may need to change the drop down box next to the file name:box from Text Documents (*.txt) to ALL Files (*.*)
The file should look like the info at the bottom of this post

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.
Once you are finished, go up to 'File' and click 'Save'. Make sure to change the Save as Type: box to All files.
Otherwise, Notepad may add a .txt extension to the file which will keep it from working. If you don't have your system set to show extensions, it's easy to miss that.

Tonight I suddenly stopped being able to connect to wi-fi. I click connect and and immediately informs me that windows was unable to connect.

In device manager I have two errors appearing in network adapters.

1. Microsoft ISATAP adapter #4 (device cannot start. code 10)
2. Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface (device cannot start. code 10)

Works fine with ethernet cable plugged the router. Phone has no wi-fi connectivity issues. I have tried reseting the router and re configuring it. Adding wireless connection manually and even system restoring to earlier today at 2:34pm windows update(critical update) though I don't remember windows update notifying my I may have updates set to automatic.

What should I do next?

A:Sudden WI-FI connectivity issues. Please help...

Ok guys, no idea why but after rbooting my laptop about 6 times i finally got my wireless card to pick up a signal...

I think I heard the Microsoft ISATAP adapter #4 and Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface are just ivv6 translation tools and are rendundant anyhow...

No idea what's up with this issue. After rebooting a bunch of times, I turned off the computer for 2 minutes and powered it back on and it works..

Hi all- Been having some issues with W over the last day or so and having trouble nailing it down Hoping to bounce some ideas off you Symptoms Sudden CPU spikes during which system will hang and the cursor stutters but will usually recover in a few minutes Screen randomly goes black for a few minutes Explorer windows become hung issues recent sudden with W7 Odd up by which I mean things like the task bar task manager start button keyboard shortcuts etc Other applications usable during this time Much worse when Odd recent sudden issues with W7 running Firefox This logged in to any profile even a brand new one This does NOT happen when logged in under safe mode svchost process taking up an unusual amount of memory CPU time Actions I've taken Hardware diagnostics All good Full MSSE and MBAM scans nothing turned up Updated rolled back then updated again video drivers Have a NVidia Odd recent sudden issues with W7 DTX Uninstalled Firefox using Chrome This seemed to fix the short term CPU spikes but system still goes off the rails after a few hours with explorer exe failing Disabled the service the above mentioned svchost process was tied to SysMain Superfetch Much better performance for now Ran system Odd recent sudden issues with W7 file checker sfc scannow found no integrity issues EDIT Ok so apparently it's not just Firefox Firing up Mozilla Thunderbird caused the exact same symptoms and hung the system for a good five minutes before it would kill the process Wants killed system is running smooth

Anything odd showing in Administrative tools > Events?  You could try running Process Monitor http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645 to find the problem child.  As for turning Superfetch off, I wouldn't.  It needs to stay running.

You can also use Process Explorer, to see which sub-process is causing the spike.  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb842062.aspx

Hey all first off please forgive the weird punctuation as all my nonletter keys are operating as though shift is pressed Today I had a bunch of issues pop up suddenly which I was not experiencing before Sony VAIO with Windows Seven Issues Letters Sudden issues system are in caps when caps lock is off and not capitalized when caps lock is on Numbers and symbols operate as though shift is being pressed at all times Clicking on a link or bookmark automatically opens a new window in Chrome or IE Tab causes the highlighted field to go to the previous field instead of the next field Fields are highlighting backwards eg clicking at end of work or phrase highlights entire word or phrase and vice versa Scroll bar on laptop mouse is no Sudden system issues longer working and cannot scroll other than manually CTRL Sudden system issues and other keys not working eg for copy and paste Computer prompts me to turn Filter keys on or off upon startup at Windows screen Ran Malwarebytes with most updated definitions and found no issues Went in and looked at all accessibility keyboard and mouse options and found nothing out of place Checked settings in Chrome and IE and found nothing out of the ordinary Performed system restore to Feb eighth when I was having no issues issues began this evening None of this helped and issues are persisting Any help is much appreciated Thanks in advance nbsp

Sounds to me as if there is a problem with your keyboard, you can check this by connecting a USB keyboard to see if the problems go away.

I noticed a few days ago that my fps during gaming has dropped quite a bit. It's been about two or three days. Before then I would get around 60 fps in all of my games with no problem. Now I'm getting around 20-30 and it stutters a lot. I've tried googling this issue and I've tried everything that has been recommended from those threads. I've made sure my drivers were up to date, I've defragmented my hard drives, I've cleaned out my pc, I've scanned for viruses several times. My temps are fine. I've tried just about everything I could think of. Any sort of help would be appreciated.

Here are my specs
CPU: i5 - 4690K CPU @ 3.5 GHz
RAM: 16 GB
HDD: Samsung SSD 850 EVA 250GB & Seagate HDD 2TB
GPU: NVidia GTX 970

I would like the answer to this problem....whenever I try to game in any type of position, situation.......I am frustrated. I think my 9800 pro is quitting on me slowly, and I dont know for sure, since I just replaced my motherboard and processor with a combo from Monarch Computers(ASUS A8V Delux-64Bit capable) and athalon 3200+.
I am running out of places to find answers, because I there seems to be noone out there capable of figuring out this pickle.

Online work is normal and as usual. Whenever I try to play an online game, the system restarts itself. EVERY TIME sdssdsd

Hello new poster long time reader admirer of this site A few days ago my computer IE, general sluggish Onset of performance started chugging pretty slowly I haven't installed any new programs or downloaded anything including updates etc I'm pretty good about scanning defragging my computer weekly as well Here are some examples of the slowdown Significant lag when opening a new Internet Explorer window Significant lag when opening any new program Computer sometimes half opens a program like IE and chugs for about seconds then slowly loads the program In addition I'm not sure if this is related but I turned on the computer to day to have nothing work I would be able to double click an item my DSL connection for instance and it would flash like it's opening then nothing would happen My quick launch buttons are pressed and stay depressed I had to Onset of sluggish IE, general performance restart a few times to get it working Also after looking at the setup menu pre-boot F I escape and choose exit then the computer beeps and says unable to boot from network or something to that effect Press F to retry and F to return to setup utility Is there any sort of diagnostics program that can tell me what's wrong Or should I just system restore one week past or just scan through everything again Thanks

Download ComboFix here :

Link 1
Link 2
* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Here is a guide on how to disable them

Click me
Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt log in your next reply.

All of a sudden I have locked out of many folders due to permission. What I don't understand is I am the admin and they all show admin as the owner. Making me crazy and taken a long time to fix each one if it will let me at all. Is there anyway to an easy fix. These are all files I have been in many times and now I'm locked out.

A:Sudden folder permission issues

Yeah, W7 permissions can be finicky.

Easy way: http://www.blogsdna.com/2173/add-take-ownership-option-in-right-click-context-menu-of-windows-7.htm

More comprehensive way: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/739820.aspx

Subinacl is a powerful tool. If you use it be sure you have a backup of your registry or a disk image first. I've used it many times and if you follow all instructions it is safe and effective.

Hi,

I doubt you have completely removed the spyware but if you think you have, a repair install means that you don't lose anything.

I thought there was an article here but apparently not so try this one.

when i turned on my pc today i was greeted with a LOT of security warnings, and pop ups telling me various programs had failed to start for a number of reasons, all of which seem to be related to windows security settings.
the main one i get is "Your Internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened."
i cant see what could of caused this, since i changed nothing yesterday, and installed no updates.
i have tried various fixes, like deleting the regedit line 000... , which didnt exist.
any help would be great, i cant open most of my programs, which is a pain!
thanks

Hello I've owned this Dell XPS for around a year a half with no problems at all It has served Dell Sudden issues outbreak XPS of 15... with me well during my travels Sudden outbreak of issues with Dell XPS 15... up until recently Though I'm not sure if any of the issues are linked I figured it would be a safe bet to list them all out just to be safe It Sudden outbreak of issues with Dell XPS 15... first started a couple of months ago when my computer first froze for about seconds blacked out and came back displaying a warning that the Intel graphics driver had crashed something to that extent I thought nothing of it given it quickly resumed normal operation without a hitch This continued to happen maybe once a week but the quick recovery always followed Fast forward to three days ago I was downloading a game on steam Dead Space and browsing the web when I was hit with the same freezing though this time it lasted a little bit longer and ended with a blue screen I've gotten the blue screen once or twice before but nothing had ever come of it Just as before my computer quickly Sudden outbreak of issues with Dell XPS 15... re-booted and I resumed the download Stepped away for - minutes and came back to find my computer displaying quot Operation System Not Found quot I restarted my computer and was asked to select a source in which to load windows from I selected my hard drive and again it displayed quot Operation System Not Found quot At this point I had come to the conclusion that my hard drive had crashed To be sure I took out my hard drive plugged it up to a Seagate GoFlex adapter and plugged it up to another computer To my surprise I was able to fully browse all of my files and the hard drive worked with no problems I then plugged it back into my laptop and selected the quot Diagnostic quot option on the boot menu After having found no problems with itself my computer re-booted and loaded Windows as normal albeit a little bit slower Excited I logged in and immediately noticed a significant performance drop and a consistent quot freezing quot for - seconds occurring every - seconds Regardless I began to run a virus scan utilizing Norton which took considerably longer than normal and returned no results Frustrated I restarted to computer only to be met with the same quot Operation System Not Found quot display as before I re-ran the Diagnostics rebooted my system and found Windows again Suffering the same performance drop and freezing as before I downloaded AVG to see if it could find anything that Norton might have missed but returned nothing Now I am here I've tried everything that I can think of but still have not been able to identify what the problem is In games or while playing media the periodic freezing continues effecting everything including sound The quot Operation System Not Found quot warning displays every time I shut down or hibernate the system I've checked the processes and am not able to identify anything out of the ordinary CPU and Memory usage levels are normal and do not spike during the freezes Writing this alone has taken me minutes longer than it would have normally because of the damned freezing Any help would be appreciated

A:Sudden outbreak of issues with Dell XPS 15...

Quote:

"Operation System Not Found"

That is actually Operating System Not Found, in other words, it can't find Windows Operating System. Freezing is usually caused by overheating, blow out all fans with a can of compressed air. Trying running the laptop without the battery, and just the power adapter.
What is the exact model # of your Dell XPS 15 laptop computer? Go to the Dell Drivers site type in your service tag # and download the Video/Display adapter driver for your model. That should eliminate the Blue Screen.
Go to Start/Search and type CMD Right click the CMD icon in the Search Results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Command Prompt type chkdsk /R and press enter. Now type a Y for Yes and Restart the computer. Check Disk will run at next bootup to test the HDD.
Try running the computer in a Clean Boot.
You can also download the ISO image for Seatools in my signature and burn the image to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature. Boot off of the newly created CD and run the Short and Long tests on the HDD. This may solve the problem, but if either one fails, then the HDD needs to be replaced.

Hello,

Code:
Security Processor Loader Driver ROOT\LEGACY_SPLDR\0000 This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.
This is caused by a corrupt install of an Anti-Virus program. Which ever AV you have uninstall it completely, and I recommend installing Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

Code:
Probably caused by : memory_corruption
It's possible that there may be something wrong with your ram. Run a RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Run for atleast 8 hours!

After this post back results.

A:Firefox issues- sudden total PC freezing

it could be an outdated add on, check for updates for your addons
if it is still playing up, try starting firefox with the addons disabled ,
you can do this by clicking the help tab and selecting "restart with addons disabled"

if everything is fine then its probably an addon, to eliminate which one, restart each addon one at a time so when it starts to freeze then you know which the last add on was that crashed the pc.

failing that try comodo ice dragon, you can use your firefox profile with it.

A:Sudden mouse issues which have lead into other problems

Sounds silly and i know you stated you think you trained your hands but try disabling your mousepad while typing and see if the issue stops, should have a small hardware switch on it. If it persists, possibly reinstall the mouse driver.

I've been having issues while gaming, mainly that my CPU will drop while I'm playing, which will cause HUGE FPS drops for a second or so.

Today I've been running a bunch of tests on my computer (using the intel one, anti-virus stuff, etc). I opened a program and went to message a friend and my computer blue screened giving me the 0x00000124 Error.

CPU drops while gaming, causes major FPS drops (goes down to <5 for 1-5 seconds). - Gaming - CPUs

I have a lot of info in this thread, but I'm more than willing to answer any questions or provide things too.

Hey, what is the make/model of you're computer? Also if you could attach the minidumps it would help. To get the minidumps go to start>computer>local disk>windows>minidumps. The files in this folder will need to be compressed to be posted here, use 7-zip for this.

I have performed a "gauge reset" on lenovo power management already. Would appreciate assistance! (Recently ugpraded to windows 10 but was having issues prior to update also)

Hey guys recently started having a problem with my GPU (I think it is my GPU) it's a Nvidia 8800GT 512Mb Overclocked.

Was playing COD 6 then suddenly was having major graphic glitches at a certain level. These problems extended to when I am not playing COD 6. Got all the newest drivers and such.

What I am talking about is when I turn my computer on. Even at the BIOS my screen starts to get little dots and lines all over it in weird places. I can move the mouse but after a few seconds half the screen cuts to black and rest looks really pixelated...

Any idea what's going on? The whole thing looks like some sort of sick green pizza...

Thanks for any help.

My computer suddenly can t connect to the internet about half the time days ago I turned my computer on in the morning as I always do to find that it was not connecting to the internet This happens sometimes our router is kind of fiddly so I left it running while I went out for the day I left a message in a Skype group as a test and when I got back home hours later it still had not been sent so the connection was down all that time without even Sudden long-lasting issues, random and connectivity a brief blip of connectivity About an hour later it finally came back online only to drop half-hour later It Sudden connectivity issues, random and long-lasting came back another half-hour later and I signed off for the night to find it was down again the next day A few hours later it came back online and this time it stuck around all day The next day - today - it was still working until about PM tl dr It goes out and comes back for periods ranging from minutes to hours Trying to identify triggering behavior on my part has been so inexact Sudden connectivity issues, random and long-lasting as to border on superstition so I choose to believe Sudden connectivity issues, random and long-lasting it s not affected by anything I m doing If I m wrong I have no clue what the cause is Everything was working fine days ago but now with no obvious provocation it is suddenly struggling a lot yet my two roommates are having no trouble connecting When the router is acting up all of us can t connect but right now it s just me The only thing I was able to identify that happened around the same time was that I downloaded a program called quot Discord quot a Skype-like thing I used to play some games with people The first time I turned the computer on after downloading it it autoran upon startup After uninstalling it and scanning for viruses and all that nothing is fixed I have not been messing with firewall settings or installing new hardware etc etc Almost all of my computer time is spent doing benign things like watching youtube videos or messing with basic text and picture files The rare instances when I mess with things that might affect stability I document carefully in case something goes wrong Nobody uses this computer except me everyone in the house has their own computer My computer is a Windows desktop from about years ago I bought the entire thing as a pre-assembled package with the exception of a video card I installed years ago I connect to the router with a little Belkin wireless dealy - my computer is too far to connect by ethernet I could move it briefly if you want me to test the wired connection but I can t keep it there there s no place for it anywhere near the router If you need any other info about my computer just let me know what it is and where I can find it EDIT Sorry for the huge essay I ve been reading around the internet and it seems like this sort of problem is fairly common but I ruled out all the explanations that seemed to plague the folks of Google without finding the cause of my own problem I wanted to show that this is a real problem so we can hopefully skip the quot Is your computer plugged in Did you delete System quot stage of things nbsp

Welcome to Seven Forums,

Thanks for using the basic requirements, all info provided were very helpful. Your Xirrus capture looks good, no issue there, however, I see that in your wireless connection you're using Public DNS, why not change the DNS'es to auto same as your LAN DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1. You'll have to click on Obtain DNS address automatically....Please follow this Tutorial.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...cp-ip-settings

Also, it's best to use WPA2 with AES encryption for a better secured network, you're currently using WEP.

The touchscreen on my laptop works for the most part like a mouse would, except that it does not actually register that the 'mouse button' is 'down' until the 'click' is released (that is, you lift your finger or move it). Are there any drivers that would allow me to send a 'mousedown' event as soon as the screen is touched?

Thanks.

Hello riffwraith and welcome to the forums

Let's see where this thing is running from, then we can decide whether it's legit or not I would like you to download a script, SilentRunners.vbs, and run it. If you want to check the legitimacy of this script, just google "silentrunners malware removal forum" and you'll get hundreds of pages of malware removal experts using it.

Go to this page: Silent Runners - Adware? Disinfect, don't reformat!
Download the script.
Right click > Run as administrator

It should open a log upon completion of all of the possible startup locations on your computer, could you please copy and paste the results into your next post for us?

If I attempt to go in and re connect to the wireless network it says that Windows is not managing the wireless networks and to turn Wireless Zero Configuration on(which I have done). Click to expand...

there maybe a conflict between the windows wireless utility and the belkin wireless utility - are these both running at the same time

would you post back the ipconfig /all when it disconnects

would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects.
Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ping Tests
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

Start> Run {search bar in Vista/W7}> type CMD to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

Type the following command
Ping {then a space and then add the number that is shown against the item labeled "default gateway" shown in the results from the ipconfig /all}
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping google.com
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping 209.183.226.152
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste
For your information only
these tests will check various stages of the connection, the first ping test, ping default gateway checks to see if you still have a connection to the router.
The next two Ping google.com & Ping 209.183.226.152 tests the connection to internet. google is to test by name and the ping test using a number is checking that a connection exists without DNS.
these tests then confirm if there is a dns issue on the connection.Click to expand...

I've had this build for nearly a year now with no issues However as of late my motherboard has been getting overly hot using Piriform Speccy to measure My computer case might be motherboard not properly? issues Fans cooling Sudden working came with fans Fans might not be working properly? Sudden motherboard cooling issues but it effectively has one in the rear of the case two at the top of Fans might not be working properly? Sudden motherboard cooling issues the case and another in front of the hard drive mounts Fans might not be working properly? Sudden motherboard cooling issues It also has a plastic flap with fans attached to it When closed it acts as extra cooling for the graphics card I need to stress that I've had no cooling issues until recently While playing any game my motherboard nearly peaks out at degrees Celsius From past experience my fans USED to accelerate in rotations per minute during gameplay I've observed that they no longer do this In the mean time I'm taking the side panel off my rig and blowing a fan into it This brings temperatures down to degrees Celsius Other than the motherboard everything else stays cool Is it a fan issue Are these bad temperatures to begin with How much space do you recommend for ventilation How would you recommend a fix in general Thanks

A:Fans might not be working properly? Sudden motherboard cooling issues

What specifically is getting warm?

Is it the CPU? if so there are a couple of quick fixes you may want to look at, such as:
- reapply the thermal paste
- upgrade the stock cooler (this is an assumption on you having stock)
- ensure that in the UEFI, the fan speeds are set to automatic and not fixed speeds.

If it's the GPU generating the heat, make sure that the airflow in your case is push the hot air out the top and back panels, whilst drawing in through the front (and bottom if possible).

You may also want to check that your fan speeds are set to automaticly speed up when the temp gets higher, this can be done again in the UEFI.

You may be able to push the fan speed on the graphics card by using AMD Control center or by downloading and using MSI Afterburner (Be carefull using this, as you will only want to change the fan speeds).

If all else fails, make sure your cables are tidied!
This isn't just a case of making the inside look pretty, tieing up the cables and putting them in the back panel / out of the way will improve airflow in the case and mean less heat is contained within the tower unit.

Also, welcome to Seveforums!

A:Endless random onset of "No Internet Access" problem

You are going to want to change the wireless Security to WPA2 rather than WEP, you will also want to use AES encryption.

If you can post the ipconfig/all it would also be helpful.

Sometimes when I am playing online games, my whole computer will freeze and when sound is enabled, then it makes a very annoying buzzing sound (similar to the sound you hear in movies when a movie starts and it makes that buzz noise). Control+Alt+Delete won't work, Esc key won't work, nothing. I have to force shut down my laptop and then start it up again. How can I fix this?

Hi,

My computer has been running perfectly fine for the last couple of months.
Yesterday before i turned off the computer i did nothing different at all, no updates changes or anything to it.
Today i turned it on and it said my hal.dll file was corrupt.
I tried to go into the recovery thing on my xp cd but it could only detect my other windows installation (not the one i wanted to get into)
And if i try to access it, it says it is denied.
What can i do?

A:hal.dll - all of a sudden.

Hello.
I just recently had this problem after trying to install Vista, and it failing.

I ran chkdsk, and it said that my disks were fine, but it wouldn't even let me scan for earlier installations.

So I had no way around getting a copy of hal.dll onto my computer, so I just reinstalled windows.

I think thats the only way if you don't want to use the earlier installations.

I may be wrong though.

Hi all

I have a problem, my pc is in not way top notch anymore, but it should still hold its own . My problem is i keep getting something that uses up all my ram. Normally my system is running on like 20% of my max RAM, but sometimes something happens and all of the sudden my RAM skyrockets to 98%used and my pc lags as hell. It doesnt have to be that im in a game when tha lag starts, yesterday i was just browsing folders on my pc when i noticed it lagging, i looked at RAM used and what do you know 98% used. I have tried running bitdefender antivirus, spybot S&D, CClceaner but the problem is still remains. Anybody have any tips and trix on what i should do?

Thx in advance

/G4ndY

My speccs are :

CPU : Intel i7 950
GPU : Ati Radeon 5870
Ram : Corsair 12Gb

A:All my ram used all of a sudden.

Hi,

Firstly I would uninstall SpyBot as Windows 7 does not require such Registry Cleaners.

Then Run SFC to check the integrity of all Windows 7 system files:

Click on the Start > Type in search cmd
Right click cmd at top and Run as Administrator
Type SFC /scannow at the prompt
(Note: there is a space between SFC and /scannow)

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

You could also try:
Free up the startup.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.

Your Anti-Virus maybe hogging your resourses (Just a suggestion)

I would recommend MSE:

Microsoft Security Essentials.
Has better compatibility & stability compared to other antiviruses/internet security software.
Has a light footprint and is free.

Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

Uninstall all unnecessary programs that you no longer use.

Also Press Ctrl>Alt>Delete simultaneously and click Start Task Manager then choose the process tab.
Look under the memory column and it may give you a clue to what process is using the most RAM.

Hope that helps

Cheers

Dave

A:Pop ups everywhere all of a sudden! Help me Please!

Hi and welcome to TSF. Hate to tell you, that you have one of the nastier boogers on the 'Net these days. We will do some cleaning before total removal. Stay on the path and it will be as painless as possible.

============

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Before you do anything else, please create a folder for HijackThis and put it in a permanent folder (like C:\HJT) instead of the Temp folder. This is required because HijackThis will create backups and we don't want them to be deleted.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Download CWShredder and click on 'Fix' (it will automatically fix anything it finds for you). If it asks if you want to delete a certain random file, choose No and post that filename here.

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

Toolbar
WinTools
ISTsvc

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

Hello all, sorry for whenever I post, it is all about trouble. But, please help, thank you very much!

So, I'm currently a boardband user (that's what they call it in my country). It 'gets' internet from my house phone-line so I have a DSL spliter/filter where it splits 1 line to my phone and the another to my modem for internet.

But recently, whenever a phone-call came, I will start hearing a loud buzzing noise when I picked up the phone and answer so, I ususally put down the phone and call the person back. When I put my phone down, my internet is down! Which is weird because it never happened for the past 3 years or so.

I have tried, changing 3 different DSL spliter/filter. But that didn't help. Any suggestions from you guys please?

Once again, sorry for the question and thanks in advance!

A:Sudden DC?

Have you tried A different phone? different wires between the splitter and phone/modem?

The process of cleaning your computer may require you to temporarily disable some security programs. To disable these programs, please view this topic: How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs---------------------------Be sure to re-enable your AV and malware scan tools if they were disabled-----------------------------------------------------------------Some types of malware will disable Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and other security tools. If MBAM will not install, try renaming it first.Right-click on the mbam-setup.exe file file and rename it to mysetup.exe.Double-click on mysetup.exe to start the installation. If that did not work, then try renaming and changing the file extension. click this link if you do not see the file extensionRight-click on the mbam-setup.exe file, rename it to mysetup and change the .exe extension to .scr, .com, .pif, or .bat.Then double-click on mysetup.scr (or whatever extension you renamed it) to begin installation. If after installation, MBAM will not run, open the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder in Program Files.Right-click on mbam.exe, rename it to myscan.exe.Double-click on myscan.exe to launch the program. If that did not work, then try renaming and change the .exe extension in the same way as noted above.Double-click on myscan.scr (or whatever extension you renamed it) to launch the program. If using Windows Vista, refer to How to Change a File Extension in ... My system is four months old and has been performing almost without flaw Today I noticed that the boot up which had been quite quick was sluggish Then later I found that I could not put the system into hibernation The monitor cut out but then the system problems Three sudden immediately switched to the log in screen I played with that by turning hiber sys off and back on and the only difference now is that the log in screen Three sudden problems does not come up until I move the mouse But the system still doesn't go into hibernation Finally I just noticed that msconfig's Boot tab is completely inert Clicking anything does nothing I know it wasn't this way in the past I Three sudden problems checked the Restore Points and there have been six Windows updates RPs in the past three days I'm unaware of any significant changes to the system other than them I guess I'm headed toward undoing Three sudden problems those changes though I don't want to I was wondering if anyone else has seen anything like this lately Thanks p

A:Three sudden problems

The fact that the Startup tab on msconfig has been disabled looks fishy to me, especially since that's the easiest place for most people to disable a malware program. Are your antivirus definitions up to date? Have you run something like HijackThis to see what might be going on behind your back?

Be careful with HijackThis - most, if not all, of what it finds is good stuff which should not be disabled.

The Problem An across the board slowdown and degradation of performance Programs can take - seconds to open Ditto for large folders Sometimes it can even take several seconds for a window to close or minimize If I don t give the computer all the time it needs to perform a task it will lock up completely for - seconds Also it periodically refreshes or pauses or takes a time out -- I don t know the correct term Sometimes the hourglass will appear sometimes Serious, Sudden Slowdown not but I cannot do anything for a couple of seconds sometimes longer Serious, Sudden Slowdown and it usually makes whatever window I m working on inactive and I have to click on it to resume Armed with just enough knowledge to be dangerous and a lot of Googling I came to suspect the problem might be caused by using too much RAM According to CoolMon I was often using - MB of the I have available Of course I never bothered to notice how much RAM I was using before the problem started Duh However if high RAM usage is the culprit something else seems to be causing the RAM usage to spike For one thing the problem started all of a sudden One day it was working fine the next day it wasn t And I do not remember making any major change or program installation in between but it s possible For another thing this is what my memory usage looked like right after I rebooted and logged into both user accounts CoolMon said I was using MB of RAM Earlier in the evening I d seen the RAM usage down in the low s but didn t get a screenshot and couldn t duplicate a figure that low The computer was moving right along for a few minutes there I didn t do anything on the computer just opened task manager and watched the numbers There was virtually no change in anything After eight minutes the computer did one of those quot time outs quot and when that was over the numbers really started changing When the dust had settled after - seconds this is what the memory usage looked like I was using MB of RAM with nothing but the programs that run in the background open This may be normal but if it is I d appreciate someone explaining what s going on so I can add to computer literacy Miscellaneous Information The CPU usage doesn t seem to be effected by any of this It s just fluctuating in the low single digits I ve run Avast Spybot Ad-Aware Spysweeper MS Defender and A-squared without finding any virus or malware Ditto for running chkdsk and defrag I know I ve got this computer cluttered with too much unused garbage and too many programs launching on startup I ve been working on cleaning it up There has been a gradual slowdown as a result Still this dramatic slowdown happened all at once The computer is a Dell Dimension that s a few months over three years old XP Home SP- If anyone has any ideas about what s going on and or what I should check out I d certainly appreciate hearing them Thank you

A:Serious, Sudden Slowdown

So tell me, do you have two user accounts, one named jo and one named marvin? You have both users logged in when this happens? It looks like a lot of processes are duplicated: Norton, Copernic Desktop 5, Notesholder, are just a few that are duplicated. So, when the slowdown happens, log off one of the users and see if all gets back to normal. If it does it is probably RAM related.Let's see how the RAM situation is. When the computer is slow, go to: ctrl + alt + del, click on the Performance tab, tell us the numbers for Physical Memory Total and Available.

A user called me down to look at her computer. XP Pro running on an NT4.0 domain.

She all the sudden can't save her word files in her network drive folder. it tells her the file is readonly.

I checked it out, and sure enough, every folder on the network drive is now READ ONLY, but only on HER computer. From mine and from the server (and I assume everyone elses') the attributes are the same as always.

I changed the attributes on her computer. No biggie...but what the heck could have caused this? (besides an ID-10-T error

Windows 7 Professional x64 OEM on a Dell Studio XPS 1645. The machine is under a year old, but I recently had to replace the hard drive due to the clicking of doom. It's been working fine for the past week, but all of a sudden, it's blue screened 4 times this morning.

If it makes a difference, all three times the screen sort of minimizes when the BSOD happens so that the image is 1:1 with the screen rather than blowing it up to take the whole screen. I've never seen a BSOD do that before, so I think it might be related.

I've not been doing anything too stressing, other than exporting photos in Adobe Lightroom, but it got through that just fine.

Thanks for the help!

A:Several sudden BSODs

Hello,

The crashes point to your Intel WiFi drivers as the probable cause; perhaps a Windows Update set this all off. I see the drivers are fairly old:
Code:
NETw5v64.sys Thu May 14 11:51:34 2009 (4A0C3E06)
Install this updated one: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...=3062&lang=eng

If the BSODs persist, run driver verifier: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Yeah, not long ago, gringo_pr I think it was, helped me clean my computer. I even did lots of scans using MBAM, Superanti, and AVG, and bitdefender online scanner, and Esetonline scanner...lol thats a lot.

All good.

Yet this afternoon I was watching on youtube, a video on how to use firezilla. Mid way through the video I got BSOD again...damn that scared me a lot. I lost many of my work too. So very annoying.

Well so basically I think this has something to do with my previous post regarding sandboxie and BSOD. I have no idea why, but gringo has helped me and it is all good. LIke I said I also did that many scans. Why is it I get BSOD all of a sudden?

A:What the....BSOD all of a sudden?

Did the BSOD provide a stop error messages or identify a driver (.sys file) as shown in this example?Crashes (BSOD), unexpected shutdowns, sudden freezing, random restarting, and booting problems could be symptomatic of a variety of things to include hardware/software issues, overheating caused by a failed processor fan, bad memory (RAM), failing or underpowered power supply, CPU overheating, motherboard, video card, faulty or unsigned device drivers, CMOS battery going bad, BIOS and firmware problems, dirty hardware components, programs hanging or unresponsive in the background, and sometimes malware. Even legitimate programs like CD Emulators (Daemon Tools, Alchohol 120%, Astroburn, AnyDVD) can trigger crashes, various stop error messages and system hangs so you may or may not be dealing with multiple issues. If the computer is overheating, it usually begins to shutdown/restart on a more regular basis. Troubleshooting for these kinds of issues can be arduous and time consuming. There are no shortcuts.

HIJACK THIS IN TEMP FOLDER

You are running Hijack This from a temporary directory. It needs to be in a permanent folder. Please go into Windows Explorer, click on C: then click on File > New > Folder and call it HJT , or another name of your choice. The program creates backup files that we may need to use later. If the program is in a Temporary folder, files may be deleted by you or automatically if your system is set to empty temp files.

-------------------

Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and select Show hidden files and folders. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. Also make sure there is no checkmark beside Hide file extensions for known file types. Click OK.

--------------------

DOWNLOADS

Download and install CleanUp! but do not run it yet.

*WARNING* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.

You say problems started when you installed Sam Broadcaster. Have you tried uninstalling the program and see if your problem reappears? If the problem disappears then you know the answer. If the program is the problem perhaps you can find support at http://www.spacialaudio.com/?page=support

Hi all,

Have an issue that started on Friday with my laptop, I'm running Windows 8.1 and for some reason now everytime I log in it is laggy as hell as in it's impossible to use and everything takes forever to open, Windows Explorer crashes etc. When it crashes it then starts working again!?

When I use CCleaner on it though it fixes the issue, so what could be the actual problem as I don't wanna keep routinely having to do this everytime I boot my laptop up.

My laptop has a Intel Pentium N3540, 4GB RAM and a 500gb SSD on it aswell if this info helps.

Thanks

All of a sudden I'm having to run programs and install programs using the right click 'run as admin' command. This is happening on install files it NEVER used to happen on, and today I had to run Quickbooks this way.

I have two laptops and a MS account. This is happening on both laptops. What setting got changed to make this happen? It's driving me bananas!

EDIT- come to think of it, this has got to be why my Firefox update will not install! I'll be damned!

Would this have something to do with a setting in Internet Explorer?

A:All of a sudden I have to 'run as admin' a lot!

No it has something to do with screwed up UAC and/or Security permissons for the OS.

Hi, again. I have been using Easy Cd Creator for years. all of a sudden, it's like there is a buffer overun, and the cd stops mid burn, and tries to get up to speed, and fails, and keeps trying. That is why I asked you about the running processes. There are no applications running, except Easy CD, and the processes don't seem to be acting overly loaded. Performance jums, but There's nothing really running. I tried burning on RealPlayer, too, to see if it was just Easy CD, but the same symptoms occurred. Help me solve this one, and I give my word there'll be a donation to your helpful site.

Thanks,

Joe
