I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am having an issue where the windows features under Internet Information Services/World Wide Web Services/Application Development Features will not install.  Specifically those which are clicked on when one clicks on ASP.NET.  All necessary versions
of ASP.NET are installed.  IIS 7 is installed.
In the Event Log there are two errors which are shown in conjunction with this problem.
1. Unable to install counter strings because the SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASP.NET_64\Performance key could not be opened or accessed. The first DWORD in the Data section contains the Win32 error code.
The error code is: 020000000E0E0000
2. Installing the performance counter strings for service ASP.NET_64 (ASP.NET_64) failed. The first DWORD in the Data section contains the error code.
The error code is: 02000000C9120000
I am thinking that the performace key is somehow not accessable due to some security feature.

A:Turn Windows Features on or off Application Development Features

Andre,
I appreciate the replies, but it has nothing to do with running as administrator.
I solved the problem by turning IIS off all together and reinstalling it with the features I needed.

The search box is gone from windows explore (not IE) and the startmenu. Researched the issue. Already checked to seach if the search field was enabled in control panel>turn on/off features. Tried turning it off and on then restarting.
Running the ultimate edition. Don't have any past restore points to go back to. I just installed windows 7, my drivers, and my normal software. This is a fresh install with this missing search bar.

I don't have the search bar in Internet Explore disabled with some kind of hack.
I restored default settings in 'folder options' in control panel.

I want to avoid having to reformat . The search feature was working fine. Could i have installed something that is not compatible or conflicting and causing this issue?

I had the search bar for 8 days.

Hello,

I will go straight to the point here guys,

I need WMP and I have installed Windows 10 Pro N recently (since my university gives free keys)
I went to the windows download section in the website and downloaded the Media features Pack!

The problem is, after I installed it I went to "turn windows features off and on" to check it and play music in my wmp
and it was not there! There is no "Media Features" option like it is supposed to have. I tryed:

Reinstalling, did not work because windows said it was there already
Rebooting, nothing changed,
Running wmp Fix,
Ran SFc /scannow, nothing was found

I would really appreciate if someone really good came and said that I missed something really simple.

Thank you.

When I navigate to Start>Control Panel>Uninstall a Program>Turn Windows Features On or Off

I cannot turn off any Windows features including: Tablet PC Optional Components, Windows Fax and Scan, Windows Meeting Space, Etc.

Instead, When I uncheck one of these features and click ok I get "Please wait while the features are configured" for about 15-20 secs. Then I receive an error message reading:"an error has occurred. not all of the features were successfully changed"

I have Windows Vista Ultimate. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I have searched everywhere for a solution to this problem and have found no solutions yet!

Each person is different, and your needs with your computer are different - so this is just what I do on my system and may not be appropriate for yours.

I uncheck:
Games
Indexing Service
Remote Differential Compression
Tablet PC Optional Components
Windows Meeting Space

But I haven't made a great study of this - so it may be to your advantage to research each issue before turning them off (for example, if you've got a Tablet PC - then the Tablet PC components may be nice to have).

A:Turn windows features on and off?

Which features are you trying to turn off or disable or turn on/enable? On some things you might have to change a registry value from "1" to "0" or delete/rename an entry if it's not one seeing the disable, manual, automatic settings available.

On windows 8 I am unable to enable and Windows features. Some appear to install correctly, i.e. Hyper-V, but on restart it is still not installed or checked in "Windows Features".

I'd really like to install IIS 8.0, but even "Common HTTP Features" fails with the unhelpful message "Windows couldn't complete the requested changes", "Windows requires a reboot to return the system to its original state".

Hello all, I'm new to Seven Forums and I have a question. I have been trying to install .net ver.4, but the error says it is installed but not turned on. So I google turn on .net 4 and I get to turn Windows features On and Off. Which brings me back to an issue I noticed. Every time I see screen shots of the features screen, it is a long list of many features, but mine is almost bare:

Mind this is an OEM version installed by my system builder, but I'm wondering where are all my options?

I have disabled some services per the Black Viper list, but I can't think that would remove any or all of the missing items? Any ideas?

I am getting this message every time I try to turn off a feature, "An error has occurred. not all of the features were successfully changed."

I was able to turn off some features about a month ago, but now it won't let me. It doesn't matter which feature I try to turn off. For ex. I tried turning off DVD Maker, XPS, Gadget platform, etc. SFC comes up clean.

A:Windows 7 Features Turn On/Off Issues

I know you said you ran SFC but I'd run it again from an elevated command prompt (option two.) Even if problems aren't found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

You could also check for malware by running full scans with your installed anti-virus suite and then run a couple of on-demand scans with Malwarebytes and ESET Online Scanner.

Hi srcomsec,  is there a way other than the control panel -- programs-- turn on and off method.I'm sure there is though it would only be a shortcut to the same destination which would result in failure as well.Is this the same Vista computer as you posted a topic for found here?If so, it sounds as if you have major registry corruption and the only possible cure is to either find someone with a Vista installation disc to perform a repair install or restore the computer back to factory condition.Possibility that another member knows something that I don't, so please stay tuned....Donna

This is my current setup in Control Panel gt Programs and Features gt Turn Windows features on or off To be frank I haven't a clue what most of these features mean or do and Help and Support has nothing to explain the function of the majority of them For example if I rest my cursor over Microsoft Message Queue MSMQ Server it tells me that it 'Manages and Catalogues removable media and operates automated media devices' Because I do use SDHC Memory Cards USB Memory Sticks Cameras Advice or off. Features - Turn needed. Windows on Card Readers and other sundry Windows Features - Turn on or off. Advice needed. media hardware should I then have this box ticked If not Windows Features - Turn on or off. Advice needed. then just what does this feature relate to or do Similarly what the heck is the TFTP Client and what does that do Advice about the other open boxes and their functions would be appreciated with the exception of Games which is self-explanatory and something I have no interest in anyway Recommended settings with reasons for activation will help me understand these features

its most likely just system restore creating restore points everytime you make a change

what did you "uncheck" you know you can delete all but the most recent restore point if you want

edit............oh i see you have system restore off! your better off leaving that on and limiting the ammount of space it uses

in that case ive no idea whats causing your disk usage , again what did you uncheck?

The Stebner tool...is for removing all versions of NET Framework. It does not do anything else.http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/kbarticle.aspx?id=318785I would use Mr. Stebner's tool...or simply go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall each Framework install in reverse order (most current first)...then install Framework 3.5, SP1, http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=25150 . Note: If using Add/Remove Programs, do not bother with any critical updates which may have been made to a given version...just uninstall NET Framework 4.0 and NET Framework 3.5 (if installed).IF you want/need to reinstall NET 4.0, http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17718 .I've never had to do anything to "set up" any version of NET on any of my systems...it just installs. Well, I believe a reboot of the system is necessary but I don't consider that a setup procedure.Louis

Hi,

What could possibly be the problem? Any comments, ideas or advice are welcome.

Hello SoHacked, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You might see if using the Microsoft KB article below for Vista and Windows for this same issue will work for you in Windows 8 as well. The steps are the same in Windows 8, and should still apply.

You receive error code "0x80073712" or the "Windows Features" dialog box is empty when you try to install updates or components in Windows 7 or in Windows Vista
Hope this helps,

Hello, i've posted this in the Windows 7/Vista section as there doesn't seem to be a Windows 8 section yet. I've got a Windows 8 Media Center Pack product key, and the email from Microsoft says to use "Add Features". But it's not there. I've got Windows 8 Pro N, i've searched "add features" but there's nothing found, I've pressed CTRL + X and selected System, but there's nothing about adding any features. How can I open Add Features?

Hello! I was trying to turn on my telnet for the first time in my netbook running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, but I couldn't see the check box for it in Windows Features.

Here's a screenshot of my Windows Features:

See? No telnet. Any idea how to fix this? Or any other way to get my telnet turned on? Please help! Thank you.

A:Telnet Missing in Windows Features

It might be on the windows install disc. But; then again; there is also a chance that microsoft did not include it in the releases of windows 7 as quite a bit of people use other programs. etc. to access what telnet could.

A few days ago I finally upgraded my X220 from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. However I've discovered to features have gone missing, which really bugs me. First the battery gauge is gone. Google and tried most of suggestion I've found but without any luck. Second the WiDi (Wireless Display) has also been removed. Both features are strongly missed as I use them more or less on a daily basis. Has anyone found a working solution to any or both of them? If so please advise

A:Missing features on a ProBook 4520s after Windows 10 upgrade

Hello, I had the same problem yesterday after upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After searching the web I found this solution (source: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01114052#SelectiveUpdate) which worked for me:      Step 4: Selectively update the imaging device driverIf a webcam driver is recognized after running the scan for new hardware in Device Manager, verify it is the latest version of the driver. note:If there is an HP webcam driver on the product page for your model and OS, use that driver, otherwise use the Microsoft USB Video Device driver. In the Device Manager, under Imaging Devices, expand the list of webcam drivers, right-click the webcam driver, and then select Properties.Figure : Webcam PropertiesMake a note of the existing name of the webcam driver (Example: HP Webcam), as it may change after the update. On the Webcam Properties window, select Update Driver....When prompted, select the option to Browse the computer for desired driver. When prompted, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer option.De-select the Show compatible hardware checkbox, select Microsoft in the Manufacturer pane, select USB Video Device in the Model pane, and then click Next to install the desired webcam driver.Allow the installation of the USB Video Device, and then click Close.View the Imaging devices option in the Device Manager to verify the presence of a webcam driver.   Hope this works for you too. Regards,

A:XPS 8700, Windows 10, Realtek Maxx Audio Pro features missing?

Here is how to fix the problem and go back to your old Realtek HD audio driver on the XPS 8700.  This will restore the Maxx Audio Pro feature.
* Open the Control Panel and select System* Click on Advanced System Settings (on the left)* Click on the Hardware Tab* Click on "Device Installation Settings" and then click on "No, Let me choose what to do" and "Never install driver software from Windows Update". Click Save Changes. This step is important or else Windows Updates will always write over the Windows 8.1 driver* Open the Control Panel- Programs and Features and select the Realtek Audio Driver and uninstall it* Restart the system* Install the Windows 8.1 Realtek audio driverXPS-8700_Audio_Driver_N4TKF_WN_6.0.1.7016_A00.EXE* Restart the system. Be sure to select your Realtek Audio as default audio device if you have more than one device on your computer
This worked for me.  Let me know if you have any questions.

I've been led to believe that the dreadfully slooooow copying in Vista is caused by something called "Remote Differential Compression" that can be remedied by turning this feature Off!

sorry if this is in the wrong area My quot turn windows features on and off quot box is blank this is a known error with many 'solutions' that have not worked in my case I've reinstalled win prof x twice for a total of installs somewhere along the line of installing my standard programs all of which work no issues ect my quot turn windows features on and features off" and "turn on Bypassing windows off quot box will go blank I tried figuring out what program triggered this behavior by reinstalling and restarting after every program installed and checking the box it was Bypassing "turn windows features on and off" a different program that triggered the event from reinstall to reinstall so that's telling me it's not a specific program that's triggering it anyway I don't have hours to reinstall windows and my programs every night so I'd like to know if there is a workaround ie registry entries that I can edit to enable features and programs from my understanding of how quot turn windows features on and off quot works it must only be changing a registry entry or editing a config file that tells the OS not to load those features as in the documentation it states that the programs and features are not uninstalled they're just disabled so is there a group of registry entries or config file that the quot turn windows features on and off quot dialog edits that I can access manually additionally I'm really not interested in trying to fix the box I'm interested in turning the TIFF image parser on IE off and windows search back on don't ask if you can't answer my question and you're not sure if it's possible please refrain from making some reference to a tutorial I've already tried or some snide comment about how my install must not be legit or a did a quot custom install quot like it's some sort of voodoo on the other hand if you're ABSOLUTELY SURE it can't be done please feel free to tell me that I'm up that proverbial creek with no paddle

Hi all,

really stumped on this one

device is a windows 10 surface tablet (LTSB), that was working fine on a domain. Linked to a WSUS, and has sccm installed.

I went into windows turn windows features on and off and enabled asp.net 4.5 or was it 4.6 and rebooted, now powershell does not work, certain application that require .net do not load. It complaining that .net is not installed, and when I try installing .net 3.5 and even 4.6 it says its already installed but turned off in windows features.

its happened twice now, the first time was when trying to install visual studio community. I got the tablet wiped/reimaged and put back on the corporate network. and Its happened again.

Can't even load gpedit, well it loads but then complains about mmc snap in when going into configuration

any suggestion? i've done all the dism, sfc/scannow stuff. it came up with corruption but thats all repaired now

help!!!

A:Turn on/off features blank

just for anyone else's record

the only way to fix this is to get the same build iso, and do an "upgrade"
this repairs the corruption.

what an absolute pain!

Perhaps someone could answer this for me regarding "Visibility" states of packages in the following registry path:

Each packages shows a key called "Visibility" which I believe shows if the packages is visible in Turn on/off Windows Features. If this is true, what are the Visibility states? I've seen both "1" and "2" but it appears to make no difference.

What I'm attemting to do is try to remove packages of my choice, without using the tool because it errors out (same result if I use OCSETUP). But I would like the items to be shown as "removed" with the check box clear.  I'd try two things.  First I'd boot from a repair drive.  If you don't have one you can make one on another Windows 8.1 computer.  If that doesn't work, I'd boot from a live disc (like Ubuntu or Mint Linux) and save my data, then restore to factory settings.

Good luck.

2. The Appointment form is missing this same box for linked contacts.

3. (Example illustrating problem): Open a contact, on the communicate section of the ribbon, click More then Task. The resultant Task form differs in a few ways from the Task form that opens within Tasks when Adding a Task:
a. 2 'checkoff boxes appear below the start/stop dates: 1) 'keep updated with...' and 2) 'send me status...'. I understand their significance to many and could easily live with these absent a way to remove.
b. IMPORTANTLY, there is no 'checkoff box' for a reminder nor is there an associated reminder date/time?????

I've searched and cannot find a way to toggle change for 1,2, or 3.

Is there none?

I use to have Vista 32 installed and I just recently installed Vista 64. There are a few features I had with the 32bit version that I do not have with the 64bit version. FIrst that I was able to have the Areo view with the 32bit version which is now not available (the transparent dialogs and other stuff.) Also when I did a control-alt-tab when I was playing video I could see the video in the application change dialog. I no longer have that feature either. Both the 32bit and 64bit were sp1. Any ideas why I am missing features in the 64bit ulimate version that I had with the 32bit version? THanks.

Also, I don't seem to be able to run a successful system restore, keeps saying was unable to continue.

I realised you cannot search your computer with Windows Search disabled in Windows 8/8.1 Metro, I have looked for the entry in the Windows Features / Services but could not find it. (I previously turned it off, now I cannot see the entry)

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

A:Cannot find Windows Search, how can I manually turn it on?

Also I now cannot enter PC Settings (Metro) since I was playing around with Start Menu applications and forgot to put the shortcut back in (not sure if there is a proper link to PC Settings but I removed the shortcut and cannot get in through Control Panel > Change Account Type / Manage Accounts > Add a new user in PC Settings will not launch PC Settings)

I've just done a clean install on an Acer 7520 laptop with a Dell OEM version of Vista Ultimate, was previously running Vista Home Premium.
My sister has it installed on her Dell so I know it works but the problem I've got is it looks more like Vista Basic.
I think alot of the drivers are missing. I've tried going to the Acer website but its not obvious which ones I need and some that I've downloaded dont solve the problem.
I tried to download the graphics card driver directly from NVIDIA but that hasn't solved the problem either.
When I go into the Device Manager I seem to be missing drivers for:
Human Interface Devices
Imagingin Devices
Monitor
PCMCIA Adaptors
Also the buttons for bluetooth, email, web and the volume wheel do not work.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
My IT knowledge isn't brilliant so would appreciate advice in easy to understand language please!

Hello All, I am running winxp with outlook 2003 SP3, part of the MS standard edition office suite for students/teachers. I have two issues that have been driving my bonkers for about a week.

1. Import/Export - The import/export option is not on the file menu. Even after expanding the chevrons and whatnot it simply does not exist. I've had a very difficult time even searching for help on this subject.

2. Vacation/Autoresponder - this feature is also not available anywhere.

At first I thought it was a limitation of my student edition software but I've found no evidence to support this version with limited features.

Please help me figure out how to enable/install these features!

Thank you,
David

A:outlook 2003 missing features - please help

Hi David, and welcome to TSG.

I believe the vacation/autoresponder "Out of Office Assistant" in the Tools menu is only available for e-mail account on an MS-Exchange server.

Have no idea why you don't get the File -> Import & Export choice in the main Outlook screen. Shows up fine in my version of Outlook 2003 SP2, on XP Home SP2.

Just upgraded to Q2002 from Q2000. An important feature in the reporting option seems to be missing. If I form a report such as "how much did I spend on medical" I get a list of all the various doctors but I do not get subtotals for each of the doctors (this is just an example). Subtotaling was a feature on Q2000 that now seems to be missing on 2002. It does not make sense that Intuit would remove features so I was wondering if there was an alternate way to get the subtotals back.

I have a SATA drive that is giving me problems every couple of weeks it deletes link buttons, several system links, program features and the system restore points. I have to go into program features to restore MS Office and into programs to reload my links. It is partitioned with 2 other hard drives which don't have this problem.

A:Missing Systems, Links and Program Features

That is probably a Sata drive - but the drive is not at fault. It is probably some process that does this to you. Do you have any programs that you installed yourself and which are those.

Wish to uninstall programs but the only tabs present in programs and features are the "organize" and "view" tabs. there are no "uninstall", "change" or "repair" commands.Where have the "uninstall" etc. command tabs gone to and how do I get them back?message edited by Oleneygah

A:uninstall tab missing from programs and features in vista

I came across this problem a while ago and eventually found it was an issue with a corrupted registry so the first thing to try, if it's only recently happened, is a System Restore. If that doesn't work then the only option I found was to use a 3rd party uninstaller like Revo or possibly CCleaner (though I suspect the latter uses the same registry entries so may not work). You may find that it's only older programs that have the problem, newer ones will probably still have the option and programs you reinstall or install fresh will also be ok. Hi Xirw If you right-click on the columns, you should have a context menu displaying various column names and whether they are enabled (checked) or not (not checked). Just check the "Installed date" in that menu and the column will appear.

A:Fast, Powerful Search Utility Enables Hidden features

i just performed a similar search with Everything (ls*.dll) and it took me under a second. granted, it's from an index, but still, the indexing process takes less time than your search did! i could have narrowed it down with a regex search, but i don't know regex very well...

Everything doesn't do attribute or date or other advanced searches, so i combine it with SearchMyFiles from NirSoft, giving me a perfect combo - Everything for quick file finding, and SearchMyFiles for more advanced queries. both apps are tiny, portable, and amazingly fast.

I don't know when this error started but I if I click on Search in Windows Explorer I get the message, "A file that is required to run Search Companion cannot be found. You may need to run Setup."

I clearly can't use Search to find Setup or Search Companion and the Help Center isn't in the least helpful as it seems to be chock full of script errors. I tried restoring the system back to an earlier date but it didn't resolve anything.

Any clues how to restore the Search facility?

I know I have post this before, but I can't believe that this is truly the windows search. I must be doing something wrong?

This is a daily experience. I am in Windows Explorer, and a search for a file I know is maybe one subfolder below my current and it finds nothing. Sometimes I have several copies and it finds nothing. I've had it re-index or whatever and still no go. someone recommended Everything. This search program works flawlessly. What is up with windows search? Way back when I could search using wildcards and find exactly what I wanted it seems Vista's search was bad and 7 doesn't have one.

It has to be me. Where am I messing up?

If you have the CD with the operating System on it you could try this

Put the CD in your Drive and then

Click Start
Select Run
At the prompt type sfc /scannow Please note that there is a single space between sfc and /scannow.

Typing this will start the program, and a box should appear telling you how much longer the process should take.
Let it run and do not run anything...you may hear your drive spin as it get the files off the CD it needs

I was trying to use the search feature in Windows Explorer, and when I clicked it, it was gone ! I don't know what has happened, but I think it may have something to do with when I either defragmented my computer or cleaned the registry with two programs.

When I click search, all that comes up is the sidebar with the title Search Companion, but nothing is underneath it. It has worked before until today.

I know, there are many many 'solutions' on the Internet, but during the last, say 6-7 hours, I have tried out quite a number of them.

I tried:
- run services.msc - the tagging windows search
- need to reboot then
- with the Windows CD in the drive - windows, at reboot - there is something
like error at setup of Windows components -
windows is then undoing the install

I tried the registry soluton
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search
SetupCompletedSuccessfully at '0'

Index - Windows Search Service - Vista Forums

I tried to repair 'startup'
Windows 7 Startup Repair - How To Perform a Startup Repair in Windows 7

Nothing works.

Any other solutions.

THE big issue is that windows search cannot be restored, apparently.
Even not by repair startup.

thanks!

Hi First you should not have anything saved to the recovery drive and you are unlikely to be able to copy what is there, since this is usually the recovery image for your machine to be put back to factory settings. Now you should check the user manual on how to make a system disc as it will have the info you need Manuals for Compaq Presario CQ58-100 Notebook PC series - HP Support Center

A family member was tricked in to downloading and Missing some a (Uninstall Features Menu Programs Programs Program) and in installing some stuff from the Internet on to a laptop that has Windows Pro -bit with Media Center I removed the stuff but Missing some Programs in Programs and Features (Uninstall a Program) Menu noticed some other problems I'm not sure if these are new problems caused by the useless stuff that was installed or if these problems existed Missing some Programs in Programs and Features (Uninstall a Program) Menu earlier In Control Panel Uninstall a Program not all installed programs are listed Oddly the only listed installed programs have names that start with the letters Mi or Mo Only programs are listed In Start menu All Programs I think some programs Missing some Programs in Programs and Features (Uninstall a Program) Menu are missing The list seems unusually short The laptop has a Win style Start menu because IObit's Start Menu program is installed In Control Panel System and Security Administrative Tools there were no shortcuts to the tools I fixed that by using SFC SCANNOW I tried using System Restore to go back to an earlier date but that didn't bring back the missing programs I undid the restore I created a new Windows user account The new account had the same issues I guess the missing programs could be the result of malware I don't remember exactly what I removed I only used the free version of MBAM to clean up I tried restoring everything MBAM quarantined but that didn't help I requarantined the stuff It was mostly if not all PUPs Any ideas for bringing back the programs that should be in the Start menu and Programs and Features menu

A:Missing some Programs in Programs and Features (Uninstall a Program) Menu

I gave up. I restored the operating system and reinstalled everything. No problems now so I guess the problems of missing programs and BitDefender not working was caused by the malware/PUPs- a buggy installer.

I have run into a strange problem. I have searched and found other people with the same issue but no solution. Almost all of the programs in the programs and features list in the control panel are gone. the programs are still there in the start menu and can be opened. But I can not open pdf files on my desktop anymore, I would uninstall adobe and reinstall it but it isn't in the list to remove it. Thanks for the help.

A:programs missing from programs and features, recovery failed 0xc000002

Download and run Revo Uninstaller for the missing programs.

As far as your rootkit, simply removing the program doesn't remove the malware. Run a scan with Malwarebytes anti-Rootkit, then run Malwarebytes standard and then run Eusing to clean up the entry points of your virus.

Also, go into your AppData directory and clean out all the Temp files in there. Delete them for all user accounts on the machine:

C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Local\Temp for example.

Basically, I want to search for all the folders on my drive that are missing an *.xmpb file. All of the folders should have one, but some of them don't, so I need a list of those folders. What's the syntax? I tried--

kind:folder NOT *.xmpb

--but it didn't work. Also, this is on a mapped network drive but that's never interfered with my searches before.

Thanks for any help, you'll be seeing me.

A:Search: Can you search for a folder that's missing a filetype?

Hi Chris, welcome to the Seven Forums.

It can't be done with Windows Search. The search you tried (kind:folder NOT *.xmpb) lists all folders where the folder name does not contain string .xmpb.

However, what you want to achieve is totally doable with a simple batch file:

1. @echo off
2. for /d /r %%x in (*) do (
3. if not exist %%x\*.xmpb (
4. echo %%x >>X:\FolderList.txt
5. )
6. )

I see where one of the performance enhancements recommended is to disable unneeded "Features" in the Program & Features section of Control Panel. The impact of disabling some of the features is obvious, but in some cases it's not so obvious whether I need to leave a feature installed or not based on how I use my system and the applications that I have installed (for example, Microsoft.NET Framework, Remote Differential Compression, etc.). I have tried searching for a description of each "Feature" and how to determine whether it might be needed or not, but have been unable to locate a good discussion or description of each "Feature". Can anyone direct me to a source of this info. Thanks.

Just noticed when I was about to upgrade one of my applications by starting to uninstall the current version that it wasn't no longer in the list of installed programs and lots of other programs are gone too.

Did some Google searching for this problem and noticed I was far from the only one who experienced this issue but unfortunately I wasn't able to find any real solution.

My Windows version is 1511 build 10586.420. I already tried running sfc /scannow and it came out with no errors found.

Any ideas what happened and how to fix it?

A:Lots of programs are missing from the Programs & Features list

Programs or Apps? I ask because Apps from the App store don't show up in Programs and features. They are in Settings > System > Apps & Features. What is the name of this software?

EDIT: I'm noticing some items in that list I wouldn't have called Apps? Some of my Steam Games, NVidia drivers for audio and video? My guess is eventually they will all show up in Apps & features.

Hi guys hope you can help me with this please because I don t really know what to do to solve it I have a Vaio Programs in Programs Features and Missing Panel) (Control running Windows but coming Missing Programs in Programs and Features (Control Panel) with Windows preinstalled I have recently noticed that most of the programs and apps Adobe Realtek Sony folder Intel Avast Java Bluetooth on Programs and Features Uninstall a Program have vanished without knowing how Only Microsoft apps are displayed there for some reason First I run sfc scannow and found some corrupted files that could not be fixed so I decided to perform a full recovery through Vaio Care that makes use of the Recovery partition that restores the system to factory settings After recovery all programs and apps were in Programs and Features as expected However after removing either the preinstalled version of MS Office or the preinstalled games most programs and apps disappeared again I run again sfc scannow Avast and Malwarebytes and they found no issues at all I also tried System Restore but it did not fix anything Only MS Office Avast and Malwarebytes are currently installed on the drive along with Windows automatic updates including Windows and I have not used any cleaner or optimizer tools I found a potential cause for this Apparently the uninstaller for a program can incorrectly remove registry entries that are used by Windows and the Add Remove Programs tool Add Remove Programs tool displays installed programs incorrectly but I am not sure whether this actually applies to my case or to Windows After performing the recovery I uninstalled the preinstalled MS Office through Programs and Features and the preinstalled Games WildTangent that can only be removed by clicking on each uninstalled exe file of every single game I contacted Microsoft Desk help and they told me that it has indeed something to do with the registry but I don t know how to fix it Although there is a Fix the Problem tool for some Windows versions there is no such a tool for Windows I suspect that the removal of MS Office and Games make cause this but I am not sure about it I don't think that Avast or Malwarebytes are the problem Could someone help me please I would be really grateful if someone could tell me the way to display again all the programs and apps or to prevent the same from happening again if I decided to perform a full recovery Please let me know if you need further details on this Thanks

A:Missing Programs in Programs and Features (Control Panel)

Hello Laura, and welcome to Eight Forums.

I'm not sure what will add them back to "Programs and Features" other than reinstalling the programs to repair them.
