I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello darknight99 and welcome to Seven Forums.

My first guess would be your computer picked up some malware. Update and run a full scan with your resident antivirus and antispyware. Then run a couple of on-demand scanners (all free) like Malwarebytes, HitmanPro, SuperAntispyware, Comodo Cleaning Essentials, etc. On-demand scanners offer another layer of security because there's no such thing as an antimalware product that's 100% effective 100% of the time. If there was such a thing we'd all be using it.

I looked up the IP address showing in your screen shot. It comes back to Pakistan Telecommunication Company LTD in Punjab. Do you have any connection with that company like are they your internet provider?

A:Error Message: Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your system

During Setup, it will ask you if you need any extra drivers such as SCSI (or SATA in your case). If so, press F6. Now you are in trouble, because SATA drivers come on a floppy and new(er) Dells don't have a floppy anymore. Borrow a floppy-drive from another PC and install that in your Dell.
Setting up with the Dell disks, I'm not sure if they are RESTORE-disks or full XP-disks.
That may cause another problem.

Hi Guys,

I would like to seek help regarding my laptop (Dell Inspiron 3437). I oftenly encounter a very slow start up/booting and also there are times that shutting it down takes too long also as if it is not responding, which will result to forced shutting it. I need help in this.

when i start my computer, it goes to the gateway start page, and after a while (it's quite slow) it goes to the black page, and this is what it says:

Intel Boot Agent FE v4.1.10
Copyright (C) 1997-2003 Intel Corporation

Intel Boot AGent PXE Base Code (BA 1210BC-GW1)
Copyright (C) 1997-2003 Intel Corporation

PXE-E61 media test failure check cable
PXE-M0F exiting Intel Boot Agent

Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media
in selected boot device.

it just stays on that screen until i do a CTRL ALT DEL, then it goes back to the Gareway screen and after about 30 seconds finally boots up and i get the Windows XP start up page, and it opens up my desktop and i can continue .

Can anyone tell me why this started happening and how to correct it?

My HDD sounds like it is reading for a good 3-5 minutes on startup. Programs run after a minute or so - albeit very slowly...

Does this mean its new HDD time as it is a good few years old, or do I have hidden files starting.

I have cleared out what I can find that I don't need at boot....

Any suggestions?

Hey kesler7.
Did this pc in question come with Win8 and with this disk ?
If you are familiar with accessing the BIOS, does it show that the drive is present ?
If it does show and the drive is working properly, if the drive is set as the first boot device in the Boot section of the BIOS, or maybe be set as the first boot device using an F key sequence on startup, it should recognize the drive at power up where you can start the reinstall of Win8.

Hi, I recently installed Norton 360 onto my OSwin7 Toshiba laptop andsubsequently now the computer wont start. it comes up with startup repair then says startup repair failed... is there any way to fix this issue? or get my files off the hdd onto another laptop??

A:Any help for a startup issue?

Firstly, I would never recommend Norton to anyone, its not as good as it appears - their marketing is just very good! Try starting it up in safe mode (push F8 non-stop from the moment you boot the PC and then select safe mode with the keyboard). If it starts up and you log in, open system restore (start > accessories > system tools > system restore) and restore the computer to a time before you isntalled Norton. It should help get it back up and running. If it doesn't work, I'll give you an alternative

A:Slow startup

First off, I suggest that you defragment your hard drive. It would also be good if you can check that you don't have unnecessary programs in your start up configuration.

To do this, type 'msconfig' (without quotation marks) in the Windows search box and then either press enter on your keyboard or double-click on the MSCONFIG program that appears in the search results.

Once the System Configuration utility is up, click on the 'startup' tab. You should see a list of services and programs that Windows loads every time you boot or restart your PC. Laptops that come with pre-installed copies of Windows usually have a tonload of unnecessary software ticked in that list. These slow your system down and are a waste of RAM and disk space. Check out this Techspot thread to learn more about this particular subject.

If it's an option, then you should also try installing more RAM into your machine.

A:Help needed to bypass the CPU fan failed error at startup

You bought the wrong type of fan. They aren't all the same. You should have bought a CPU fan but you have a case fan instead. The yellow wire goes to a sensor connection that controls the speed of the fan. The motherboard detects the missing connection and throws the error you saw. The solution is to buy the correct type of fan.

I am attempting to reboot a Dell Inspiron 600m for a friend. I was able to install a fresh copy of Windows XP on it. The problem I am experiencing with it is that it often refuses to start up. I simply get a few lights, then they turn off. No attempting to run the CPU/Hard Drive etc.
I would assume the laptop is fried but it does not always do this. It also sometimes starts up and runs windows with no problems.
Any ideas on what is causing this problem and how to fix it?

A:Dell laptop intermittent startup failure

Replace the system board battery. Disassemble and reassemble by removing the keyboard and tracking down the cables... especially the cable to the screen. Replace the screen inverter card... which is cheap and will be needed sooner or later anyway. Remove, clean cpu cooling fan, and replace. Remove and replace the heat sink if the metal of the old one is rainbow colored from excessive heat.
Track all cables and connections and connectors as you re-assemble.
If it is any good, this extra work, which may take four hours (after the ordered parts come in) and you will know if you are going to have a good experience or if you have wasted your time... and your friend's time.

Windows 7 (64bit) used to load the Network "dialer" (I have DSL) at bootup or whenever a connection was not present, but a few days ago, it suddenly stopped. I must now start my Internet connection manually via a shortcut on the desktop.

I don't prompt for a password, but I don't want my PC connecting w/o me for security reasons (eg: catching viruses/adware that try connect to the Net to upload my info or send Spam.) This is how I've connected since Win98.

I thought maybe I had disabled something necessary from "msconfig", but I put everything back and it still doesn't work.

I've also tried putting the shortcut in my Startup folder, but Windows just ignores it. (???)

Problem: Wirless disabled by default on start up and resume.

I am having the same problem with my windows 7 reinstall of my SYX160001. Have tried similar remidies... ie power management, driver updates, enabling netowrk discovery, etc.

Any idea on how to overcome this nusiance of needing to turn on the wireless

A:Atheros AR9285 wireless disabled by default at startup

SOLUTION! (at least for me on my laptop)

I just had this problem when I reinstalled the OS from the OEM disc (not the factory install disc) I figured the OEM disc had a driver conflict. But I incorrectly pointed the finger at the wirless lan driver.

The HOT KEY strip (the one with the buttons that turn white when you touch them just above the keyboard) on my laptop also controls the Wi-Fi Radio on/off button. This was the problem. You need the origional driver for that strip, even if your volume on the strip is working.

Background. Think of your wireless lan as two seperate devices... the radio is compared to the cord of an ethernet connection. The wireless lan card is the ethernet card. When you think about it as one device it is easy to see why so many people assume the problem is with the wireless lan card. But the important part is that a laptop usually devides the two up to save power. Controlling the radio from a button on the keyboard (or a function key) (mine is FN +F2) is another reason to think of the two as seperate items.

Before reaching this conclusion I tried using "allow the computer to turn this device off to save power" I also had tried Hi performance modes and other wireless radio from the control pannel in both plug-in and battery modes. I tried the turn wireless netork on and off as well. There were plenty of reasons to think this was going to fix the problem.

So update your HOTkey strip driver... see if that doesnt fix your problem.

Hi, Just installed new 500gig Seagate sata hdd on computer, everything good. connected old 250 gig Seagate, now on startup, xp goes to chkdsk on F: and starts deleting the the files I want to keep. How can I set up the 2nd hdd as storage only?

Thanks in advance.

A:XP deleting files from second SATA HDD on startup

here is what i think it might be but u might wanna post a screen shot of the process using ur camera or cellphone camera to be sure what we're dealing with,
it might be re arranging files. HDD sorts file differently than u might think "i put my games in a folder then they're together physically" not true ur games folder could be scattered around the HDD's media and linked so u see them in the same place during a sudden shutdown "power out shutdown or restart using ur power\reset buttons" some files might be orphaned "lost its link to the others" so u dont see it in its place in that case chkdsk seeks those orphan files and reconnects them to their proper places so u when u open ur games folder u see all ur games there or some files wasnt saved properly so they get lost if ur pc suddenly shuts down and they remain as pieces they case some issues so chkdsk has to get rid of them.

Hi - I have a yellow warning indicator in my Devices and Printers folder next to my PC. The error message is:

Name - Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller
Device Type - IEEE 1394 Bu host controllers
Device Status - This device cannot start (Code 10)

I am not exactly sure what this is affecting but I am unable to print for one, despite uninstalling and reinstalling the print drivers.

Anyone seen this type of issue before?

I am getting an error message saying "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." I have run CHKDSK /r to try and repair any errors on the drive; cmd showed a report stating chkdsk has finished. But when I try to access the drive I still receive the same error report. Is there anything anyone out there can suggest that could help me with this problem?! Thank you so much in advance for you help!

Im having trouble with my newly built computer freezing at random points during my startup and if it does boot up all the way it always freezes on the "Shutting Down" screen. Im running Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) and have reinstalled it two times.
Here is what I currently have in it:

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
ASUS M4A88T-V EVO/USB3 AM3 AMD 880G HDMI
G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3
WD 1TB HDD
500W Power supply

A:Freshly built computer freezes at random points during startup

Sounds like there could be an issue with your BIOS... either needs to be flashed to a newer version to fully support the X6 processor or the settings just need to be tweaked. Make sure your memory is running in accordance to factory spec and that your voltages for both CPU and RAM is within acceptable range.

Hey guys I got a repair Hard after gone startup drive Sony Vaio VGN-FZ E about a year ago from my uncle who just got a new laptop The laptop was cleaned completly and a brand new copy of windows was installed on it Anyways it was working fine up until until yesterday where it crashed After rebooting a message appeared to boot into windows normally of to run startup repair I chose to boot into windows normally but it crashed soon after on the Windows Logo The second time I booted it into startup repair and let it run After I came back screen was no longer on startup repair and instead was displaying a black screen with quot Operating System Can t be found on it quot I know this message pops up if your hd gets loose so I turned teh computer off popped it over and made sure the hd was securely in place I booted it up again but I still got the message so I grabed my home premium disk to boot into the system recovery options I ran startup repair again but got an error saying that startup repair can t fix the problem because it can t detect a hd After that I went into System Image Recovery and into the advanced tab to see if the hd was still showing up there It wasn t but there was a new drive named Boot X which contains a Windows Folder and a Setup application Windows Installer Also the drive is showing that is has MB free of MB which doensn t make sense because the Windows folder alone is MB I even attempted to reinstall windows to see if it would be able to find the drive but it was also unable to recognize a drive to install unto Hard drive gone after startup repair I fear my hd may be broken and all my files completely lost Anyways hoping you guys might be able to provide some insightabout a possible fix or if I have ot buy a new drive Thanks I m gonna try using the methods in the quot How to recover your folders files when Windows won t boot quot but I have my doubts I m also gonna try installing windows onto an external hd and booting from there nbsp

A:Hard drive gone after startup repair

Sounds like your hard drive has failed to me.
You need to look in the BIOS to see if it is detected.
With older Sony models, you pressed F1 as the laptop was powering up.

When i boot up my Dell Inspiron 1545 there are two error messages one saying:

Run DLL
Error loading C:\Users\*****\AppData\Local\iwufuloru.dll
The specified module could not be found

and

Run DLL
Error Loading C:\Users\*****\AppData\Local\wsLeri.dll
The specified module could not be found

I looked for it through Windows Explorer but there is nothing there. Then in command prompt i tried deleting it, it said the file could not be found.

It isn't causing any defect tot the computer but it is annoying.

Thanks

A:Error loading files at startup of Dell Inspiron 1545

I don't believe either is a legitmate file. Update you virus scan and run a full scan of C:\. If that doesn't find anything then update Malwarebytes and run a full scan. If you don't have malwarebytes you can get it at: www.malwarebytes.org.
If you find something and cannot get rid of it, take this to the forum at: http://www.techspot.com/vb/menu28.html

It may also be remnants of some program you removed, but I don't think so.

Are you running the latest BIOS and chipset drivers ?
I know Gigabyte boards do (or have had) various S3 resume issues- non detection of SATA optical drives (H55M-USB3 heading, first paragraph) as well as the continuous boot cycle issue that plagued P43/P45 boards.

I'm working as a student assistant at my university. The computer that I use at the desk there is a Dell GX 280. When I start the computer, the monitor works fine until I reach the login screen with the "Press Ctrl+Alt+Dlt" box, at which point the monitor goes black for a second, then returns, then goes black and so on. The monitor power button remains green throughout the hissy fit. This can last anywhere between five and ten minutes, regardless of if I log on or not.

Considering that the computer belongs to the university, I can't take it apart and look around inside. Despite this, if the problem most likely involves hardware, I can notify someone to (hopefully) replace it. What do you all think?

have you tried putting the hdd and recovery disc together? before that you need to change the boot priority so the CD load first.

Go to F2 and boot settings priority, move the DVD drive up to the first one. Alternatively you can press F12 and choose to boot from CD which is your recovery disc.

Wow thats alot of system stats, but I'm gonna go for the obvious unfortunately, am I right in saying that Sims 2 is for an older operating system than Windows 7? if so, try compatability mode. I had a similar problem with an older version of a codec being needed, yet I had a newer one, and it wouldnt run the game. As soon as I ticked compatability mode and selected the OS the game was meant for, the games run perfectly.

Hi,
The last week my monitor has been hissing and has now started to remain black after startup or coming out of sleep. I have to unplug and replug the VGA cord a few times before the screen comes back on. It tries to come on on startup but all you hear is this loading hiss and a quick flash of screen. After I get it working it works fine and will even come back on if I play with the on off button. I have already replaced the VGA cord with a new one so that's not the issue. I am running Vista 64 Premium Home on a HP pavilion. I've had the monitor for 4 years with no issues. I have not updated , installed or changed anything before this started. Any help will be appreciated.

A:Monitor error message out of range - not display settings! (I think)

Possibly the graphics card or the power supply could be going south.

Ok, so here is the deal.
I'm working with a HP LaserJet 5Si printer from 1995 and it's having some issues.
I'm getting a message that reads "Device Error 66.0.23, cycle power" I found information about it on the HP site and followed the instructions 100%. It worked for a while, and then 10 minutes later it had the same error.
Also I have another one that keeps jamming, but only from tray 3. Total it has 4 trays due to the fact that it's on top of a paper drawer use to hold a ream or two of paper.
Any suggestions on what to do with either of these....priceless machines.
And throwing them out is out of the question as with purchasing a new printer any time soon.
Thanks

A:Really old printer with error message

The "Device Error 66.0.23, cycle power" could indicate a bad internal PC board connection or a failing logic board. The tray 3 paper jam, could be a misaligned tray sensor or dirty feed mechanism

This could have been caused by a malware infection, driver update or a resent errant Windows Update. Try using a PS2 keyboard and mouse to troubleshoot the possible causes

Dear techs
I hope that you can help me.
My problem refers to an external 'backup' drive that gives the above error.
I have always disconnected the usb correctly
It was working perfectly nad then...
Is this the end of my essential back up? If yes. What is the point of having one?

A:Error message 'the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable'

Are you able to read anything on the drive? Have you tried running checkdisk or scandisk in repair mode on the drive?

The fact is, drives fail. A backup is simply supposed to be a second copy of your important data, not the only place you store your data.

I was using the webcam and closed out of it but it says " dell dock has encountered a problem and needs to close" yet, it wont. and it goes through this cycling of showing pop up of send error report or dont send. failing to really shut down and load.

i tried task manager, run>services.msc to no avail.

any suggestions from those who are familiar with said crappy dell dock and how i can get it to load on my desktop again would be greatly appreciated.

I was using my computer and it rebooted (I didn't reboot it) and when it came back on, I got this message:

"Invalid system disk, replace the disk and then press any key."

I have a lot of data on the disk and do not want to lose it. It is a SATA hard drive 500 GB and I am using Windows 7 Ultimate as my operating system. One other thing, prior to my system crashing, Windows 7 had been doing an update in the background as I was working on a Word file and printing on some DVD's with my printer.

any help or advice would be appreciated.

A:Invalid system disk error message using Windows 7 Ultimate

Make sure you don't have any external drives plugged in and make sure you're booting from the correct drive if there's more than one installed.

Put the drive into another machine and do a backup of your files. You should have everything backed up on a regular basis, when things like this happen you'll wish you had one.

After you're all backed up, try running check disk on the drive using the Windows recovery console.

Compressed air, not treated by difluoroethane gas or other static electricity preventative, is a very dangerous destroyer of computers... We have seen at least 12 computers destroyed by Compressed Air... one I did myself in my learning days...
Since then, we have run a lot of tests with canned air... All that are not treated are dangerous. All that come from a bench tank are just about guaranteed to destroy a computer system board, CPU, or other critical components...
And the static electricity can flow through several components before it finds a way to ground.

Okay, so my friend has a prepaid cellphone from Virgin Mobile.

Sometimes we'll be having a conversation, and then something happens with the phone service or whatever, and I get the same text message maybe 20 times over the course of 5 hours or so, and during that time she can't receive any texts from me.

Then after a while, it goes back to normal, and her phone gets a flood of texts that I sent over the past few hours.
What the heck is going on?
Why does this happen?
Can we do anything to fix it?

I'm not so sure how cellphone SMS messages work exactly, so I would love some more information.
Is anyone else having this problem or had this problem in the past?

How old is the laptop?
I would remove the battery. Don't assume the LCD is bad just because you can't see anything on the screen. It pays to do a little troubleshooting. If the screen is cracked, has annoying dead pixels or a complete row or column is out (IC driver failure), it's time to replace the LCD. On the other hand, if the laptop screen is totally dead, it's more likely the video integrated on the motherboard, so at least test the laptop with an external monitor before proceeding.

Just built a new rig about a week ago. Unfortunately at first power up I got a spark and a popping noise. Immediately shut down the PC and checked all the connections and only thing I could see that may have caused it were the unused plugs on the PSU being too close to the PSU. I moved them further away from the PSU and wire tied them down and started up again. PC started up fine and was able to load the OS and all the other goodies. The one thing that sounded different was at start up there was a ticking noise coming from the PC that sounds like it comes from the PSU and this noise does go away as it warms up. PC seems to be running perfectly but would like opinions as to what this may be.

well, from what i've noticed, its the fan. the fan's motor is choppy and "kicks" so thats the ticking noise. My laptop had a ticking noise from the fan after I dropped it once.

A:Cloning a hdd in XP new drive gets message Missing Operating System

So you cloned the 250GB to 500GB. So does the 500GB have XP on it or are you just using it as a additional storage. You might want to do that. Leave the 250GB as the Primary C: then have the 500GB as archive media storage. There you can have all your music, pictures, music for Media Center 2005. This way you don't have to clone the HDD.

C: 250GB (OS/Programs/MCE)

What connections are you removing, and are you re-connecting 1 at a time?
You don't have to wait for a complete failure-no, the PC isn't working as it should and should be dealt with.

A:How to save mobile text message to PC?

I'm not sure if this will help:

Says you should have software for it, you will also need the USB cord to hook it up to your computer, unless it has Blue tooth you might be able to get it off that way, but I doubt it. Goodluck.

A:Help with startup beeps

Do you have a UPS to which the system is plugged? It happens to me when the UPS cannot deliver sufficient power to run demanding games.

Recently my laptop would not turn on properly...

I turned on the switch and the screen would stay pitch black, no glow or any light would come out of it...At first I thought that the screen is busted so I connected the laptop to my desktop monitor through VGA...still nothing.

The problem is that besides the screen does not display anything...it turns itself back off within 30 seconds...

I have also tried testing the battery pack/adapter...both seems to be working...

my conclusion is either the motherboard is damaged or the power source is dead...

since I am rather new at IT i would like to know what else could be causing my laptop from turning on properly

thank you in advance

A:Laptop won't startup properly

Power Issues
Run the unit without the battery and connect it to AC power source. If it still doesn't turn on then you have a faulty power connector or power module on the MOBO (motherboard)

Screen Problems
Look at your [Fn] (function buttons) one of them has a picture of your monitor. [ ] You press the [Fn] and the picture above the Function Num keys. Most are [Fn] [F5] you would press them at the same time then press the [F5] 1, 2, 3 while holding down on [Fn]. If this still doesn't do anything. Then connect VGA monitor or HDTV with VGA (PC connection) to your laptop to see if you can still view anything. If not then, the LCD panel needs to be replaced.

A:DVD drive startup troubles

it sounds like a power supply issue... 650 watt pw, does not mean anything... its the amps on the 12v line. if its like 15 to 20 watts... (then no go) u need new pw...

if its 30 to 40 amps, then you pw is good, and then it would be something else that is giveing u problems.

hope this helps

Hello ? Techspot,

4 days ago, I bought "Seagate Barracuda, 500GB, 7200RPM"
I disconnected my old hard drive and place New Hard Drive inside the case and connect to Raid 3 in my P5B Deluxe. Next I re-connected everything and turn on the computer.

A few min of starting, the screen say that I have "Primary IDE Hard Drive Failure" and want me to press "F1" key and I did. I install my windows. After that computer restart as normal, but the screen tell me the same question "Primary IDE Hard Drive Failure" and want me to press "F1" key"

Next it will start windows normaly. Whenever, I turn on the computer, it will ask the same things over and over again.

I want to know what is the best solution.

From
neowing.

Computer Specs:
Motherboard: P5B Deluxe
2GB Memory
Seagate Barracuda, 500GB Hard Drive
PNY nVidia 8600 ? Graphic Card.

A:Primary IDE Hard Drive Failure error message on startup

Call or email Seagate tech support. They usually have a new hard drive on its way to you within four hours, and await the arrival of the bad one to deal with any costs.
When you call them, you will need the drive or a copy of the hard drive label in your hands.
You can find additional information at www.seagate.com on how to proceed.
In some cases, if you got a "deal" you may have to deal with the Vender from whom you got the "deal."
