built-in admin account vs regular admin account

Q: built-in admin account vs regular admin account

Pretty basic question (I think). Is the built-in administrator's account exactly the same as a manually created local administrator's account privilege wise? Or does the built-in possess inherently elevated privileges?

I have googled around, however, I can't find a clear answer for this.

Thank you

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Spurcell, and welcome to Seven Forums.

They are basically the same, except that the built-in possess inherently elevated privileges, and the other doesn't until approved through UAC to elevate the action.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hi Friends ... I have this laptop that has been given to me by my company and the USB ports have been blocked in manner such that I can copy stuff from my USB drive on to the machine but cannot copy in the reverse direction, ie. from the hard drive to the USB. Obviously it is to safeguard against theft of data. However, I do not deal with any confidential data and like to back up things every few days. I know everyone says buy the parts and build it from scratch but I'm not that great with computer stuff, my first thought was to check out best buy or future shop but everyone says you get overcharged. Ive seen this a lot on the net but none of the solutions have helped so far.
I just took the plunge to build my first pc. I have put it all together, following the manual and when I turn it on, the 3 fans (cpu, gpu, case) turn on, I hear a couple clicks but I get no signal on my monitor.

I have a Gigabyte 780T-USB3
AMD FX6300
Radeon HD 6670
8gb kingston DDR3 ram.

The mobo is dual channel, so could it be an issue that im only using 1x8gb. Should I get another 8gb?

I really hope if havent damaged anything in the building process. Ive been so excited about this and now im super gutted.

Any help or advice would be brilliant.

1.) Upgrade my Ram, (as the limit of ram for this motherboard is 4gb.)
2.) More than 1 PCI-E slot. (There's only one on this motherboard.)

What do I need to take into account when upgrading my Motherboard?

Also any motherboard recommendations (under 200). As I'm planning on upgrading my computer to a gaming rig.

Hello!
I need help with my new rig.
Bought new CPU (core i7-3770), motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H) and memory (whatever). Have old PSU (700 watt FSP).
Connected everything and found that it's not starting up.
Disconnected drives, graphics card, memory, all the USB and other unnecessary stuff - same result.
Disconnected 12V power from motherboard and now when I press power, all the coolers start for a second and then turn off again.
Tried different 12V connector and slot on PSU - nothing changes.
Tried unscrew MB from the case and start it on a cardboard box to be sure there are no short circuits from screws. Same result.
I would really appreciate help, 'cause I'm stuck.
Thank you

Hey guys. I've been searching around for an answer to this problem, but have found nothing. I recently bought a USB mic, and I am having trouble using it. If you want to disable your on-board sound you'll have to go into your motherboard BIOS and simply disable the device.

Ah you wanna disable just the mic. Hmm I don't think you can do that easily even from the BIOS.

A:Never built a computer before, feedback welcome

So it seems you are willing to spend $1500 for just the MOBO/CPU/GPU/RAM. How much will you be spending for the rest of the build?

I'm fine with going up to about $1500 to cover those 4 items, and then I'd just pick out a power supply and the rest of the accessoriesClick to expand...

You will not want to lowball on the PSU. It is one of the most important components in the system.

You are spending way too much for the RAM. You do not need 16GB for a gaming RIG. But if you really want it I would recommend these.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231497

Or their 8GB variant.

Give me a budget for the whole build and I will put something together for you.

The last thing I would like to know about is dual graphics cards, I'm pretty sure that mobo is SLI (hope I'm referring to it correctly) and can accept two cards if I wanted to. I read somewhere that two mid-lowerish end graphics cards would be way better than the one I currently have picked outClick to expand...

It all depends on what two cards you have in mind. Generally, SLI setups are not preferred over 1 single higher-end GPU. A couple reasons would be noise, heat, and performance. Some games are not optimized to scale properly with SLI setups as well.

A:Newly-built computer will not boot

Hi, a few questions.

Did you install the motherboard standoffs correctly? because if any exposed metal is touching the motherboard it could be shorting it out.
Have you tried troubleshooting individual components yet? I have a feeling it might be the PSU because even though it has more than enough wattage, I've heard some suspicious things about thermaltake power supplies being not very reliable. then again, I could be completely wrong, I'm just going off what I've read on review sites and forums.
You could try pressing the ASUS memok! button on the motherboard to eliminate the possibility of it being the RAM.
If I were you I'd try a different power supply.
good luck, if anything happens let me know.

Ok, assuming everything is powering on as it should with proper connections, is the primary graphic adapter set to PCI-E in the BIOS?
If so, try hooking up the monitor with another system (maybe your friend's) and see if it's working. If it isnt, get it replaced.

That is a lie, the man at your computer shop should be fired.

But if you don't play games or do any video editing you don't really need a graphics card upgrade. Your motherboard graphics should be enough.

RAM doesn't make your computer any faster, it only makes a difference if you have lots of bulky applications open at the same time. For you 4GB is fine, 12GB is a waste to be honest. Also your mobo only supports DDR2 so if you bought DDR3 RAM it wouldn't work.

If you want to make your computer faster I would suggest a clean install of Windows on an SSD!

This might sound dumb but I would first check the outlet you are using. Then make sure your Motherboard is plugged into to the power supply and receiving power. Another suggestion I have which I saw on another site is possibly hard drive failure a fellow claimed he had the same issue no power what so ever then he changed the power supply and it worked. Also check fuse on power lead.

Hi everyone and I Custom desktops built hope you have a Happy New Year I am considering breaking down and purchasing a new computer This one is a HP custom built and it s about years old with a lot of miles on it I ve not had any Custom built desktops trouble with it besides the normal stuff so I had thought about going with the HP custom built again I checked the prices with HP and then went to Tiger Direct and I couldn t believe the difference in prices comparing systems of equal features I can get one from them for about half of what I would have to pay to Hp and all of the junk doesn t come on it Now I am considering purchasing one from Tiger Direct but my question is have you purchased a computer from them or know of someone that has If so what is your opinion of this company and their custom built computers I have read their reviews but it was from their web site I like to get the actual users opinions one on one but not from the sellers web page Do they built reputable and reliable computers Thanks for your time nbsp

A:Custom built desktops

I bought one of T.D. PowerSpec $549 specials maybe 5-6 years ago. Once I realized it was only about $250 worth of parts, I told myself I would never buy a pre-built/box store computer ever again. I can't stress enough on how easy and how much $ you will save if you build one yourself. You can buy the parts and have someone build it for your for $70-100 bucks and it will be custom to your needs. $300 parts +$100 labor and a better finished product sounds a lot better than $549 if you ask me.

In 'Device manager' (the screen in your image), right-click on the DVD/CD and choose "uninstall this device".
Re-start the PC and you should find, Windows finds the DVD/CD and installs the drivers for it. It should then work.

Also, when I unplug the ATX12V plug from the MoBo I get a light/fan response but still no boot...

Hi!

First of all, I dont know if this is the right spot to ask about hosting, but since Techspot has helped me with a lot of computer related problems, I thought Id give it a try...

Anyways, Im about to buy a hosting plan from Hostgator, but I want to use one account to host at least 3 different sites (top domains, like firstpage.com, secondpage.com and thirdpage.com). I know the reselling account would be the most effective, but I dont need to have a different cPanel for each user.

Can this be done with a Baby plan? Im going to buy domain names from another company, but I guess that doesnt matter. Im new to all this hosting stuff, so any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like there could be an issue with your BIOS... either needs to be flashed to a newer version to fully support the X6 processor or the settings just need to be tweaked. Make sure your memory is running in accordance to factory spec and that your voltages for both CPU and RAM is within acceptable range.

My first post so please be patient with me. My PC is a Dell Dimension 8200, (vintage 2002) Pentium 4, 512 cache, 2GB memory, 120GB HD.

I upgraded my OS from Win XP Pro to Win 7 Ultimate in Nov 2010 and my soundcard completely stopped working as being incompatible with Win 7. There are no updating drivers as it is old technology according to the manufacturer (Voyetra Turtle Beach Santa Cruz DSP). Went downtown and bought a replacement and when I tried to install it I found that the connectors didn?t match. The salesman said that Dell uses proprietary connectors therefore I must use a Dell card. Dell doesn?t have any for my outdated system.

So my question is: Will a USB soundcard, (such as the Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro or equal) actually solve my problem, i.e., do everything a regular soundcard does? It just sounds too good to be true!

Many thanks for any assistance you can provide.

A:Video does not show on newly built system

The lack of video might be a symptom of something other than the video itself. Did you use motherboard standoffs? Did you connect the 8 pin 12V connector on the motherboard? Are both external PCI-E power connectors on the graphics card hooked up to the PSU?

If the above items don't help, remove/disconnect all components from the motherboard except one RAM module, the CPU, CPU heatsink/fan, graphics card (and power connections) PSU, front panel ON switch and see if it will post. Of course, shut off the power to the PC while removing and inserting components.

If you still have trouble, to eliminate the possibility of shorts try removing the motherboard from the case, place it on a soft, non-conducting surface and connect the above components and see if it will post.

A:Monitor not turning on after a regular restart

This is confusing, because generally you would hear the BIOS have a beep code error saying there is no Video output connected, I assume you do not have On-board video? If the video card is defective/Disconnected from the computer you should have a Beep code, and not get to the Windows Logon screen..

If it is getting that far but you are not getting video then it either seems it is a video card problem, or a PCI port problem..

Hey this is my first build so I Built Won't On, SATA Suggestions? Comp Newly But is LED Turn On! ve been extra careful to make sure I ve done everthing correct however when I went to turn the Newly Built Comp Won't Turn On, But SATA LED is On! Suggestions? PSU on the green LED on my motherboard that recognises the SATA drivers my optical TB Western Digital and a Sony DVD writer and lights up yet when I push in the ON button on the outercase NOTHING happens No fans turn on nothing Everthing I ve bought is new and reccommended so Im assuming it s the way I ve wired it up which is very possible because when it came to the PSU wiring I wasn t too confident what I was doing what right My motherboard is ASUS M A GTD PRO USB CPU Newly Built Comp Won't Turn On, But SATA LED is On! Suggestions? is AMD Phenom II X RAM - x GB of Corsair DDR Memory The drivers mentioned above Cooler Master Sileo case and PSU unit The power switch runs through an adapter chip so I took it out and plugged it straight into the motherboard but still nothing happened Now it could possibly be the PSU but it s brand new and in the manual it reccommends a watt so I m covered plus Im using the built in graphics card so no extra wattage is needed Like I said I wasn t very sure I was wiring everything up right to the PSU All the wires had things like P P P etc is this significant to what you plug into it I just clicked in one that fitted into the SATA drives the PSU fan is a pin but my mobo only has a pin connecter but even so this can t be the problem because NOTHING will power on The ATX power on the PSU is Pin which fits perfectly in the motherboard and there is also a or pin on the motherboard I have alternately tried by itself and with still no luck Your help would be really appreciated Josh nbsp

A:Newly Built Comp Won't Turn On, But SATA LED is On! Suggestions?

...the PSU fan is a 4 pin but my mobo only has a 3 pin connecter but even so, this can't be the problem because NOTHING will power on.Click to expand...

Yes it can. If the motherboard senses the CPU fan isn't connected properly, it won't power up. I looked up the motherboard and I believe you have connected the CPU fan to the wrong connector. The CPU fan motherboard connector definitely has 4 pins and is labeled CPU fan on the motherboard. Look for the connector along the top edge of the motherboard.

Is it possible to hook up suround sound speakers to a laptop? If so what kind of wire do i need to get to plug into my laptop on one end and bare wires to insert into the red / black ports on the speaker end

I'm trying to play a movie with my laptop and i want more audio. I'm not real worried about the quality as far as base I just need more sound. Is it possible to take a set of headphones and cut the wires so that I have the male port for the laptop and then strip back the wires to insert into the speaker ports? Dont think i'm stupid im just trying to find a cheap way to make this work. Thanks

A:Hooking up a laptop to regular Bose home suround sound speakers?

If the speakers you are trying to hook up use the bare (+) and (-) wires, I don't think you can hook them up to your laptop because you would be missing an amplifier in between. If you have an amp or receiver (audio or AV), you might be able to use the laptop as a signal source, using the amp/receiver to drive the speakers. The amp would need to have the appropriate input connector.

I want 2 purchase a laptop. and i am confused in shared memory and built in memory.
I want 512MB of video memory.

1. (Video Memory) = Up to 1309 MB Total Available Graphics Memory &(Ram 3GB)
2. (Video Memory) = shared & (Ram 2GB)

1 and 2 are the two spec's avilable in market. suggest me which one i purchase.

A:What is best "shared memory or built in video memory" for laptop

Not knowing which graphics adapters they are makes it really hard to know which to recommend. A ton of video memory on a very low end card or low end integrated GPU isn't going to help much.

What's the purpose of this laptop?

A:Need help with home built PC

Pick one operating system and get to know it thoroughly. You can branch out to others later. There is a great deal more good information on a Windows XP machine than any other, which enables you to do more research on what to do next.
You may not be aware that you need drivers to go with what the operating system can do. You will need the chipset, which is VIA, which you can download and install from ASUS if you have not already done so.
It is time to get a good used book on computers and on the opearting system.
There is simply way too much to know to get help on it from this site or any other. A used copy of Windows for Dummies, and Windows XP Inside Out might be a good place to start.
Until you master a few fundamentals of an operating system, chipset, drivers, audio and video graphics, you are apt to become frustrated.

The equipment and components you described is enough to get you going.
Good luck.
Let us know where you are in this process and someone here will try to help

i can connect with a belkin wireless that i have plugged into side of computer but the built in wireless wont give internet access even tho it says connected and has a better signal, please give answers in plain english

A:Built in wireless wont give internet access even tho good signal

Did it work prior to this problem? If yes what did you change in the system? Go into the router administration and it should tell you if the router is connected to the internet. Belkin routers have this feature. Look and see under the DHCP (LAN) section if the wireless PC is being seen. Did you setup:

SSID: deephect
Mode: 802.11(b,g,n) Mix
Wireless Channel: 11 or set it to manually
Passcode? (password)

This above SSID and passcode have to match-up on the wireless device you're using.

On the router if you don't see connected, make sure you do a refresh and not a reset to factory default?

What is the brand and model of that 2 gigs of RAM you ended up installing? Perhaps it isn't compatible with the Asus motherboard or maybe the RAM voltage needs to be changed from the default motherboard voltage.

I have an hp mini 1000 netbook with the admin passwords in the bios and win xp. It was my cousins who is no longer with us, so my aunt gave it to me. Noone knows the passwords. How can I bypass them or override them? I can get in as a guest but it is too limited. What are my best options?

A:HP Mini admin password unknown

You need to talk to HP, after changing the registered ownership, and may need a document about the fate of the previous owner. You may have to send it to a certified HP service center with a formal notice of change of ownership included.
As for TechSpot, there is a policy to not provide assistance with passwords.
What you want to do is usually very difficult in the best of circumstances.

It does have built in graphics, running at 733mhz. In order to use the graphics I believe you will need either a H55 or H57 board. I don't thing the P55 boards use the on-cpu graphics.

If the mic is really that bad, then it would probably be the fault of the manufacturer. Either deal with it and update the newest drivers, or get a headset with a mic.

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to combine the power of a dedicated gpu card with the power of the ondie graphics of Intel's i3 processors?

A:Combining GPU with the built graphics of an i3 processor?

I don't believe there is a way. Nvidia has hybrid SLI and ati has hybrid crossfire that if you have a motherboard that supports it, you can install a lower end nvidia/ati card and have the integrated card give the dedicated card a small boost.

As far as I know for ati the common boards that support hybrid crossfire are the 780, 785 and 790. I'm not sure about the older 770 or the new 890.

Nvidia, I'm not too sure but I think it has to be a geforce 9100 and up. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey, I just built my first PC and i believe i have everything set up properly in the case. But when i turn it on, the fans run, LED's come on, everything seems to be getting power but i get no display on my monitor. Also, i get no beeps. Any help would be appreciated. Here are my specs.
GPU: XFX HD Radeon 4890
Motherboard: ASUS P7P55D
PSU: Rosewill 850W ATX12V v2.2
RAM: Corsair XMS3 4G (2x2gb)
CPU: Intel Core i5 2.66GHZ quad core Model BX80605I5750

A:Just built a new PC. No display on monitor

To be able to hear any beeps you will require a small motherboard speaker. Do you have one?

Ensure that your monitor is properly connected to the card. Try running your system with a single stick of RAM and see whether it POSTs. Also check whether your RAM modules are occupying the slots closest to the CPU.

If it doesn't work, then I would advise you to disconnect everything and reconnect components one at a time to the motherboard and check for POST after each new addition.

A:My new custom built PC won't connect to the monitor?

Try removing the graphics card since you're not using it anyway.

You can buy extra motherboard mounting screws. I always keep a variety of extra PC screw hardware since cases don't always supply enough as you discovered.

If you decide to check the CPU, you will have to clean it and reapply fresh thermal compound.

I am trying to hook up two montors. the graphics card i have has one slot
the trouble i am having is that the on board card does not boot with the
second video card in the computer. any suggestions

A:Two monitors on a emachine with built in graphics card

Depending on your PC this may be impossible as the motherboard may disable the onboard video as soon as you try to use an external video card. This is most common with older chipsets that have AGP video onboard and an AGP expansion slot. Usually it is recommended just to get an external video card with multiple monitor support (many low priced ATI/Nvidia cards support this)

No one is going to be able to provide specifics without knowing the specs on your computer, but the first place to try to mess with settings is to go into your BIOS at boot and see if it has options for picking/enabling your on board video.

I have a Dell Latitude D630. It has an admin password for the bios. Nothing is locked except for the settings. I can't change any of the settings in the bios. It lets me boot to windows just fine though. My question is, since I don't know that admin password for the bios, if I upgrade the bios firmware, will the admin password be deleted? Since I'm flashing the bios, I would think that all the settings will be lost. Is that the case?

What are you going to use the PC for multi tasking lots of programming a little gaming music and image editing i use photoshop a lot and virtual dj as well How much is your budget around usd Where are you located a k a fill out your profile malaysia Are you willing to buy online i dont think so Are you going to re-use any parts from an earlier build nope Do you need other peripherals like a monitor keyboard and mouse among others yes monitor and keyboard maybe a speaker Have you already bought any parts not yet Do you have an Operating System OS nope Will you need any aftermarket cooling such as a CPU GPU cooler or a watercooling setup i dont think so built a multi-tasking for needed Opinions custom desktop or i dont know if i ll ever need one any advice if there s anything you guys think should be included in the list that i forgot Opinions needed for a multi-tasking custom built desktop to mention do let me know nbsp

A:Opinions needed for a multi-tasking custom built desktop

Well if your focus is mainly programming with some interest in gaming . i guess an ASROCK G31M-GS Motherboard would do the Job. equiping it with an ATI HD 4650 Graphic card and a power saving Intel Core 2 duo 2 x 2,4 Ghz conroe processor. for the rams get your self a 2 GB slot (more is a waste unless u want to work on vista OS). Water-cooling is intended for computers which work days without shutting down . however if its within your budget limits i recommend u buy it since it is amazingly quiet. If not then just stick to the Original Intel Cooler which is normally included in the processor package. A hard drive of your choice would do the job( It must be SATA of course). As for operating systems get yourself either the Windows Vista Business OS or Window XP sp3 . stay away for the moment from Windows Vista Home premium and Windows 7. If u wish to install a linux distribution then forget about 3D games.

I built this computer in an old tower with a CPU, put a Intel D845EPI motherboard in it with a processor already attached that a friend traded me, he said it worked. Ive got it down to the basics with just the PSU and the motherboard and some ram. The LED on the motherboard comes on when i hook power to it through either of thr 2 PSUs im trying on it, but when i hit the power switch no fans turn and nothing happens. Ive even tried a new power switch and im very sure i followed the motherboards manual on setting up the front panel correctly. Can anyone think of what it could be? wouldnt the CPU fan turn for even a second if the ram was bad? Im at a loss... Thanks!

OK, my subject line might sound cryptic! Here is my set up: first router (main) is connected to the cable modem and provides std addresses as 192.168.1.2 (base is 192.168.1.1) etc. I have a second router (same brand) as a gateway connected to my main. This second router base address is 10.10.10.1 and all that are connected to this one have manually provided IP addresses (such as 10.10.0.2, etc). The main one provides WIFI access as for the second one do not.

Now my question: from my laptop who uses the WIFI network, how can I reach or connect to the other network (the one that is managed with the router with the 10.10.10.1 address? The purpose? I would like to access the computer connected to it as if they were part of the WIFIed network. And be able to access the router management page. Any clue?

A:Cascading routers - how to access admin features from one to the other?

first some basics;

examine the router (the box itself). everything attached to a LAN slot will default to
routing upwards using the WAN slot -- that's a big clue as to what the routing tables looks like.

second; to manage the configuration of a specific router:
a) WIRE a system directly to it
b) login to the router config page using the current router's ip-address

if your network is
modem---router#1----router#2---router#3

then a system attached to routerX will route upward to router(X-1) and NOT downward to router(X+1)

if you wish to have ALL systems (wired and wireless) see and share with each other, then you have too many distinct address.
Leave router#1 as is. disconnect router#2 from #1 and wire router#1 to a LAN port on router#2, leaving its WAN port empty. Log into router#2 and disable DHCP.

Now do the same for the wire from #2-->#3 and disable#3 DHCP.

All systems (wired or WiFi) will get ip-assignments from router#1 and will be able to
ping and share files.

Hey,

I have an NZXT Apollo Black SECC Steel Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, and this is my first time building a computer (and i don't have a lot of experience). I made sure to assemble all of the comp parts with somebody experienced, but even so, i get a no dvi signal, no bios screen, nothing. I wish i were able to diagnose the problem, but i don't get any beep codes, because this case doesn't come with built in speakers to aid me...what do i do???

AND IF i have to get a speaker like this, what is it even called??

thanks a bunch

A:No speakers built into case

Try used speaker from any old discarded computer case, or small transister radio from days of old. Any 4 ohm or 8 ohm speaker will work, or you can change the leads on a pair of junk head phones... or extension speaker from Radio Shack, CyberGuys or Frys.
Then you have to have the list of beep codes for that motherboard or device.
Perhaps the best place to go is www.frys.com they have a large variety of speakers for as low as $2.99 to 9.99... look for "miniature square speaker", portable, or two-way speakers... nearly anything that will fit your case will work, and most have screw holes so you can rig something acceptable...
Good luck.

I want to buy another case.. i'm not exactly happy with the one my Aspire X1200 came with. Inadequate power supply/room for vid card. It's a low-end computer and i'm simply going to make do with it.

Are there any problems in doing this? Anything that would make it 'impossible' or something like that? Any tips?

A:'Micro computer' to a regular case?

I'm not exactly certain what you mean by the title. Anyway, here's the answer to the question I think you asked.

But, there are 2 different spec boards in common use. ATX which is about 12 x 9.6 inches, and Matx (M= micro) @ about 9.6 x 9.6 (some Matx boards are a bit smaller).

Matx boards mount on the same bolt pattern as ATX, but due to the smaller size, they only use about 2/3rds of the holes.

So, both ATX & Matx will fit in an ATX size case. But ATX will NOT fit in a case designed for Matx boards.

Hi,

So this is my third build and this has never happened before....

I put the power on and got the "insert disc and press any key" message - so I put in my XP CD and the setup files loaded, but THEN, I got the BSOD.

I took the CD out and restarted the PC but as soon as the setup messages finished, I just got the "-" in the top-left of the screen that you get just before the OS boots. I can't get rid of it, and if I put a CD in the drive, it whirs but nothing happens, the "-" just stays there.

I can get into BIOS but not sure what help that can be...

I'm at wit's end here, anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Your card is a card that your MB should support / detect...
If there is no BIOS setting to disable the onboard video, it may be autodetect.
I did not see any information in the manual on your MB.

Someone else here may have a better idea,
but my initial guess is the OS.
You have installed ME, on a system with a MB that says

OS Support Support Windows 2000 / XP / XP 64Click to expand...

See

exactly which powersupply is it, there are about 10 rosewill 550's.

Yes, the cards are the same, though I think you will have to find an older 8800gt and not a 9800gt, those are actually getting quite rare as they are all being replaced by 9800gt's. If your new card can't stay stable at the same speeds as the one you have now, I think you should clock it down to match.
