Hello, I would like to upgrade the GPU and PSU on a HP Envy H8-1437c. The GPU I am wanting to upgrade to is the GEFORCE GTX 970. It is 10" in length, PCI Express 3.0, and a dual port (or double wide?). The PSU is a EVGA Supernove Nex650G. Are there any proprietary power connectors on the current psu that I should be worried about? Am I able to upgrade the current GPU (NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 )to the GEFORCE GTX 970? Thank you very much!http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrading-GPU-PSU-on-HP-Envy-H8-1437c/td-p/5649332
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I do not see drivers for Windows 10 for my computer. How can I obtain them?
Glorigami wrote:I do not see drivers for Windows 10 for my computer. How can I obtain them?Hi, Only Windows 8 and 8.1 drivers are available. There are few ways: 1. Using Windows updates, normally it can find drivers for your machine,2. At the end, one or two missing, you can post on this forum and our friends will help you. I'm interested in purchasing an HP ENVY 720-220 computer. The specs look great, but I'd love to upgrade the RAM. According to the product specifications, it is upgradable to 16 GB. Now, my question is, would HP be willing to upgrade the RAM themselves if I paid an additional fee? I know the guide to upgrade RAM is online, but I'd rather not take the risk and mess up the machine. Thank you ahead of time.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Upgrading-RAM-HP-ENVY-720-220/td-p/5654335

Schwaa, welcome to the forum. This was a very good review of how you upgraded your computer. What you discovered are the problems that are created by a mid-size case. It would be great if HP would offer a full size case for their gaming computers. What you accomplished should make a major difference in performance.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrading-the-HP-Envy-Phoenix-850-065se/td-p/5534653
Hi, I had a problem with my old HDD installed on my HP ENVY 15-j012la, so I bought a new 240 gb SSD (Crucial BX200). I replaced the HDD with the SSD, then turn the laptop ON with the USB Win10 image to install it on the SSD, but the installer didn't recognized it. I gave format to the SSD, but the problem remains. I've read that the SATA should be changed in the BIOS, but this laptop has the InsydeH20 3.7 and there's no way to change to AHCI. I would be very grateful if you could help with this issue! I own a HP ENVY Sleekbook 4-1000en and I recently upgraded hard drive and OS.I am thinking of upgrading RAM as well, as far as I know you need 2 memories of the same type so I guess I can?t just buy another 4 GB one right?Do I need 2 x 4 GB DDR3 of the same type to make it work? I have an HP ENVY 750-177c and was upgrading and 2 thin black wires got disconnected from the motherboard. They have loops on the end of the wires that look like they could slip on pins. I picked up a refurbished HP ENVY 750-137C, and am currently looking to upgrade the graphics. I don't want to break the bank, but I do want it to last me some time, so I'm looking at the Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 1070. Aside from the changes in power requirements, does anyone know if this card would be compatible, and if there are any issues to this upgrade? Also, Nvidia recommends a 500W power supply for this card. Would that be enough, or is that genrous number? Additionally, if anyone has a power supply product they would recommend for this theoretical combination, I would greatly appreciate the advice. Thanks!
@Drifterx311?, welcome to the forum. Here are the full specs of the card on nVidia's website. The card is double slot and 10.5" in length. I suggest measuring from the Back I/O plate to the front of the case to see how much space is available. I believe that it will fit, but it will be tight. As you stated, the specs recommend a 500W power supply unit (PSU). Personally, I would buy one with at least 600W. This will give you some extra power for peak needs. I like Corsair products. Here are some PSU's for you to review at Newegg. If you choose a modular PSU it will allow you to only install the cables that are absolutely necessary. This allows for better airflow. The PSU is the backbone of the computer. Read the Customer Reviews to see what users have to say about them. A good PSU will make your system run much better. The service guide for the HP Laptop ENVY 17-j013cl indicates the largest SSD that is compatible is 160GB. Does the service guide state this because, at the time the ENVY 17 was produced, the largest SSD was 160GB? Or is the system limited to 160GB SSD, for some reason? I was recently given 2 AIO computers from a local charity group to try and repair that both have the same problem. They seem to start but the screen remains black on both no cursor or anything. I will list what I have done and this will be on both of them.Replaced ram with known good ones.Removed the CMOS battery for 15 minCleared BIOS with jumper (battery in)Tried tapping F10 for 8 seconds then arrow down twice and hit Enter twice.A hard reset unplugged and held in power button for a couple minutes I see an HDMI port on both but I believe this is an input port?? Im planning to buy a HP Envy 13 to use for school, since this notebook is lightweight and thin and the battery life (from what I've read) is decent. The right hinge on my Envy 17 Touch Screen has failed, causing the case to become separated and the lid to be nearly impossible to close. This is the second Envy 17 to fail in this way. About a year ago my husband's broke and HP spent nearly three months attempting to repair it before finally just shipping him a new one. This appears to be a flaw in the construction of the hinge assembly, and we have noticed that the newer models, such as my husband's replacement, have a much improved design in comparison. We spent about $1,300 on this computer (it has an i7 Core and 16 GB of RAM) and hoped it would hold up for a while. The laptop was great, but now it has become difficult to use without fear of causing further damage. Recently noticed the notebook wasn't aligned to my desk. Thought the feet on the bottom were uneven. They're fine. The notebook seems to have a "bubble" on the keyboard where it's higher than the rest of the keyboard. Obviously it's impacting the entire notebook since it's no longer sitting level. I'm concerned it's going to impact the performance of the keyboard and the fact that it's not even and "rocks" when I'm typing is driving me crazy. I've managed to upgrade some of my home PC's from Win or Win to Wn without any significant problems but I am having major difficulty upgrading one of my PC's It is running Win Home -bit and when I originally ran the Windows upgrade advisor it indicated that I could not upgrade as my NVidia GEForce graphics card was incompatible with Windows I tried various workarounds using suggestions on this and other sites to upgrade with the GEForce card but none were successful So I purchased and to 10 upgrading card graphics Win after Upgrading - incompatible installed a new graphics card - an AMD Radeon R which should be Win compatible Upgrading to Win 10 - after upgrading incompatible graphics card I then re-ran the Win upgrade advisor - it still said that I couldn't upgrade as the quot GeForce card quot was incompatible - even though it was no longer installed I checked the Upgrading to Win 10 - after upgrading incompatible graphics card Device Manager and the graphics card was clearly showing as being the AMD card I then explicitly uninstalled any NVidia drivers software using the Control Panel Program uninstall - still unable to upgrade to Win I also ran the Wagnard tools quot Display driver uninstaller quot and removed any NVidia software drivers - still unable to upgrade I am using the latest drivers from the AMD website I also tried to upgrade using the Media Creation tool and a Win image from DVD previously this also failed to work and gave the incompatible graphics card error this seemed to work up to a point but after a reboot it wanted me to select a keyboard layout but neither my usb keyboard nor mouse would function and the installation froze On rebooting the OS reverted to Win and the keyboard mouse worked ok I want to upgarde to Win rather than do a fresh install but am now unsure what to do - I keep getting the quot Incompatible GEForce graphics card quot message anytime I run the Win advisor tool even after downloading it again from the MS website Any suggestions as to how I can resolve this issue and finally upgrade

I bought Windows 7 having come from Vista. However, there is a BIOS update for my system. The new BIOS update states: The BIOS updates the fan control algorithm of the system, and turns the fan on at low volume while your notebook PC is operational. If you are currently experiencing any symptoms on your notebook PC, please contact HP for support. It is located here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...340180&lang=en
I'd love to flash it but not sure if it will ruin my computer as it's more than likely not designed for flash when Windows 7 is on it or do you's know any better?
I also have 2 blue vertical lines going do the right hand side of the screen. I've seen loads of problems but no solutions. Has any fixed this HP problem?
The BIOS is the stuff that happens BEFORE Windows starts to load.
Do you have issues with overheating or with the fan? If so, the BIOS update is for you.
Also, BIOS flashes are dangerous - and you can turn your computer into a paperweight by doing it incorrectly. In short, if it ain't broke - don't fix it!
The type of lines that you describe on your screen are usually caused by hardware issues. Send it in for repair if the system is under warranty. If not, then get an estimate from a local computer store - it may be cheaper to live with it.
My Envy Notebook is having difficulty with recieving wireless signals at a reasonalbe distance from the wireless router. When the computer is in the same room as the router everthing is OK, but at 50 feet away, it works intermittenly even though the wireless properties show 4 bars out of 5 at that distance. I have replaced my old wireless router with a Netgear AC1900, a very highly rated wireless router and the problem did not change. I have read about all the problems with the Intel N2230 wireless card and I don't seem to have those problems. Should I replace the wireless card? The fan for cooling seems to be running all the time. About a month or so ago, it would run and then seem to shut down. It is annoying; but more than that, I want to make sure there isn't an issue wih the cooling/fan? I have had his lptop for about 4 years, and never had this issue before. Thanks, billfuss
The cooling fan is probably running more noticeably because the insides of the laptop are getting filled with dust, which in turn causes the heat to builf up and thus the fan has to run at a higher speed to cool things down. For a laptop of 4 years that would not be unusual. Take it to a PC shop and have it cleaned out and checked, but that is the probable reason.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Fan-in-HP-ENVY-m6/td-p/5579784

Greetings, Measure the existing power supply. Then compare the measurements to the EVGA 500 W you are interested in using. You will need to add an operating system (OS) to the list. OEM OS licenses are not transferable. You might as well go all the way and add a new tower. Build a new system. Keep the 700-216 as a backup PC. I changed some components on an Envy 810-150 (below) but built a new system (custom build) using all new components and a new operating system. I would like to hear it from Hp please. I have the Hp envy 13 and would like to know if it is ok to disable the 'fan always on' in the Bios? If not then why do Hp offer this option? Many Thanksfxmikey
Hey @fxmikey?,Welcome to the HP Support Forums! This is a great place to find solutions and help from our community! I understand you have some inquiries about the fan in your HP Envy 13. I'd be happy to help. I do not recommend that you change the core settings in the BIOS from the original state that were set. Not to say that it can't be done, It's just advised against. If you are having issues with the fan, you may want to check out this document on 'Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly, PC is Warmer than Normal' as it may help. Please keep me posted. Can someone help me resolve my computer issues? 2 and a half weeks ago it stopped charging and after having it with a local service center for 2 weeks, I find out they can't fix it until I source a part (bizzare - it has a global warranty) - it needs a replacement motherboard. I spent 3 hours on the phone yesterday speaking to no less than 10 HP technical support people that kept transferring me between departments only to be no better off in the end than before I'd made any calls at all! As of now, I simply cannot and will not recommend HP products to anyone when the support is so shockingly poor! Kp002 I read your post about problems with your new HP PC and wanted to help. You should not be having problems with a PC this new. While this PC is still under warranty, you should contact HP Customer Support directly to have them put you in touch with HP Technical Support to see what they can do about diagnosing and repairing your machine remotely.I did this recently and the HP Tech was able to remotely access my PC from the Internet and do the needed repairs. If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.htmlNOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!Good Luckhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Ho-envy-win-10/td-p/5688803
One of the screws that holds my HP Envy 17 - j053ea laptop casing together no longer attaches to anything. It appears that the screw was once attached to a plastic fitting, but now that fitting is broken and the pieces of plastic are loose inside the laptop. When I open the laptop, the casing pulls apart near the hinge. I purchased the lap top brand new paid £1000 just over year and half ago. How can the laptop be repaired?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Envy/td-p/5656999
So, I didn't want to resort to this and potentially waste peoples time but I really can't reach a conclusion. I'm running a HP Envy 15, (full specs below) and I can't decide whether with NVIDIA Experience optimising GTA whether I could play GTA at a decent (>25fps) framerate on medium settings or not. I've tried 'Can I run it' but whilst it says I can run minimum I'm struggling to interpret whether that means I could run it decently or not!
System specs as follows:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz, 4 cores, 8 logical processors
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 840M, 2GB
Memory: 12GB DDR3
Can anyone give me any advice? Any other specs that I should post to make it easier to decide?
Thanks a ton,
Yes, and very fast. The RAM you have really helps in performance. It should be about 45 FPS at an average. NVIDIA Experience shouldn't give you lag unless it does on games that are less computer demanding. High settings should work fine at 30 FPS or so (with your specs).
It will be a lot easier to decide if you gave your OS bit size (32-Bit, 64-Bit, etc.)
If you have a 32-Bit OS, GTA V should give you 30-40 FPS on high settings.
If you have a 64-Bit OS, GTA V should give you 40-60 FPS on high settings.
Hope this helps!

Hey @ritu2591?,Welcome to the HP Support Forums! This is a great place to find solutions and help from our community! I understand that you have some inquiries about the HP Envy x360 Notebook. I'd be happy to help you. The HP Envy x360 Notebook does indeed have a battery. It is a built in Lithium Ion battery, located internally, rather than external like most Notebooks. Posting in this forum as no other form seemed to be the appropriate place. Thinking of purchasing HP Envy desktop 750-229. Problem is I need to blow away windows 10 and install my Windows 7 OS from an image. Do to so I need the windows 7 drivers for this desktop. Does HP have these available for download?
Hi: It appears that HP has an incomplete set of W7 drivers for that PC. Missing chipset, usb3, wireless to name a few. They also show an AMD graphics driver, but the product specs indicate the PC comes with a nvidia graphics card. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-750-200-Desktop-PC-series/9259609/model/1052... Hi allI purchased this notebook 3 weeks ago got 12gb of memory and I want to update to 16gb which is the max spent a lot of time with different hp staff who say I cannot upgrade the memory it will affect my warranty, this is why I asked HP to upgrade for me there answer is they don't upgrade any notebooks which seems strange, why say in the manual and website can be upgraded if I do it my warranty will be void of course I understand that. They seem to me as all they are is box shifters now.I've purchasing HP stuff from about 1983 this is just rubbish from themhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-ENVY/td-p/5688924
I've purchased the HP envy 13 about a month ago. Is it normal for the laptop to get really hot to the point it burns your hand to touch? The laptop seems to get really hot after 10 minutes of turning it on and it has been like this since the 1st day I got it. The hottest part of the laptop would be the space above the the centre of the key board (under the hp logo) and the top 2 rows of the buttons get really hot too. I can also feel underneath the laptop is really hot aswell. Please can someone help as I'm not sure if this is an issue. The fans are really loud even when theres nothing covering the air vent.

Hey, first post! Ok, so I have a mac user that I take care of, and he was wondering about mouse over techniques. For example, in OS X when you want to move a file to another folder from your desktop, you can drag the file, mouse over your drive and it opens the window. Now I think this is a neat little tool as well, so my question is: Can I enable such a mouse-over feature in Xp? If not, oh well, no loss. So if anyone has clues or suggestions I would greatly appreciate,

I purchased my HP Envy laptop a little over two years ago and maybe months into my ownership the right hinge began to be problematic It wasn't a huge issue I would push it and it would click right back in but now the issue has become extremely out of hand nbsp Both hinges malfunction now screws are missing and the black plastic bottom detatches a considerable amount every time I open the laptop and makes cringe-worthy sounds whenever I open and close the machine nbsp nbsp Reading through other people experiencing this issue I'm extremely disheartened that HP didn't issue a recall on this product or make an effort to reach out to users to let them know a solution My hopes in this contact is to hear back from an HP rep in hopes of HP M6 Envy some repair with little or no cost to me The machine has never been dropped or mishandled and works very well HP Envy M6 aside from this important functional issue the opening and closing of the product nbsp Hope to hear back from someone soon Thank you

My new computer came a month ago, I put Avast Anti-virus on it, tweeked chrome to stop pop ups as I always have. But I have a never ending sream of ads like never before. I checked the power adapater with a VOM and it is putting out the 19.5 V. Also swapped with another known good power adapter and still no change. Got any ideas? j

Hi, I bought HP envy 13 Do99r a few days back. I had such high expectation from its speakers as branded with bang and olfusion. To my surprise the speakers were utter disappointment. Its too meagre . Even my previous elitebook sounds louder, better. I have reinstalled audio drivers, tried all tricks as found in internet. But of no use. Can you suggest how do i solve this problem? I want my battery life to be at its best and hence was wondeing which would be the appropriate way to charge my laptop. Is there any benchmark as to which level i should charge the battery and then plug it off, like 80%?Please claify and suggest the best way to charge this laptop.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Best-Way-to-charge-HP-envy/td-p/5717992

Hi,I am just about to receive the Envy Touch Laptop (HP Envy 17t) but after the order, I found out that the battery is installed in the unit and not easily removable. I plan to have this laptop (as desktops) permanently plugged in the wall outlet. What I did in the past, I have removed the battery, which is not an easy job in HP Envy 17t. Any suggestion on how to proceed to prolong this battery life without removing it.Thankshttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Envy-Battery/td-p/5804349

I have purchased an Envy 17 T8B50AV_1 with a 1TB 7200 rpm SATA hard drive. Is it possible to add a SSD to this computer? I see on other models it has the option to have both installed, but this one did not have the option for both to be installed from the factory. It was either the SATA or the SSD option not both.I ordered the computer last week, and will receive it next week, but was wondering if anyone knows if this can be done on this model.Thanks.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Add-SSD-to-HP-Envy-17-T8B50AV-1/td-p/5711114
