I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Password types :

Power On Password (pop). this password can be reset by unplugging the cmos battery for a while, and plugging it back in.

Supervisor/bios Password (svp). this requires reading the eeprom chip (8 leg or 14 leg) with an electronic device by using another pc's serial port or by paperclip method if model type available.

Hard Drive Password (hdp). this is usually tied to svp, but not all the time. it requires special software and a library of known manufacturer's password. but can be cracked either recovering the data or wiping the data.

My laptop keeps asking me for my facetime, icloud and messages password. I've entered the password but it keeps popping up. Even if I enter the wrong password it accepts it and asks me again in about 30 seconds. I have a Macbook Air but I don't know what system it is though. What can I do to stop this?

I have a toshiba satellite C870-11H. It used to ask for the password whenever it went to sleep. I checked and the system is still set to do so.

Some time ago I got fed up with the clowns at Microsoft thinking their latest update was more important than whatever I happened to be doing and destroying the work I was doing so they could load their rubbish. I set the system to ask me before doing an update. Well it doesn't bother to do that and now very rarely it does load an update without authority. Could it be that my system is now way out of date?

Is there a customer focused operating system that I could use instead?

Thanks.

A:Laptop stopped asking for password

Every OS is customer focused. Microsoft is for non-Mac machines and getting things done. Linux is more powerful but requires more techy-ness to use.

Maybe try Mac OSX.

But there's nothing wrong with Windows. Sounds like you have a decent amount of problems.
Run WIndows update, make sure it's completed every update.
Run CMD.exe in admin mode, run sfc /scannow

Hello all,

I use an ADSL modem for accessing Internet in my home. I think my wifi password is stolen. I wanna change it but I have a computer only in my office and use the Internet in my home by my iPhone. Is there a way to change that password with my iPhone or should I surely use a computer to do that work, please?

A:How to change the Wifi password of an ADSL modem without a computer

Hello abbasi ,
You can use your iPhone to log in the router and change the wireless settings, however this isn't usually recommended. If something goes wrong when configuring the wireless settings and you are not able to connect to the router you'll need a device that can be connected via Ethernet cable to restore the access.
If this router is supplied by your ISP you can ask them if they have remote access to it to change the password.
Hope that helps.

Hi. New guy here. I'm an oldtimer...cut my teeth on tubes and ended up as a 2-way radio and power plant tech. Retired at that point and didn't keep up much with the digital age. I have a compaq fp5315 computer monitor with an audio problem....either lots of noise when volume is normal, or at times no noise, but very low volume. Can't find any scematics and don't want to tear it apart until I know a little more about where to look. Is the audio board in the monitor or in the computer tower? The connecting cord checks ok and the usual plug-wiggling doesn't make any difference. If the audio board is in the tower, is the audio coming from the tower a normal low-impedance speaker feed or like a 600 ohm? Don't think it's just a simple speaker problembecause it has two speakers and both sound the same and the odds are that both wouldn't be bad.

Hey guys I was looking at case suggestions mini-ITX redoing a build as a mini-itx so it would be more in the question to carry it somewhere if need be This is my alternative to getting a laptop as a primary mini-ITX case suggestions computer and ill be gettiing some sort of cheap portable tablet laptop for college work So I was looking for mini-ITX cases that would be best for my situation Alot of them are cube-like and im not a fan I would prefer something that I could put my xbox on top or vica versa Not that id definately be doing that but thats generally what form factor I want I also need to be able to fit like at most a GTX in it I know thats asking alot but alot of the cube cases can do mini-ITX case suggestions it all mini-itx cases ive really seen are too slim or to cube like and that makes it feel clunky to move anywhere Id really like to have the most efficient PC case possible Ive got a corsair c build right now and it just doesnt work at college as well as id want Oh yea my budget is at max Looking further im starting to think I won t be able to get a build small enough for what im looking for and I guess thats understandable I guess I should say my PSU budget is so it either needs to support a normal PSU or have a smaller one in that price range and wattage amperage that can run a non overclocked i and a GTX nbsp

A:mini-ITX case suggestions

I am doing a second mini-itx and the case does not seem to be working. the first case is no longer available - I posted pics here - it was all acrylic/clear - over the long term, it turns out that the acrylic broke at the power-on button and where the power supply meets the back of the case.

You might want to look at some that are for video - they have a low, flat profile like a DVD player.

You can get one that will accommodate a pico-psu power supply. This is a laptop-style power supply, with a barrel connector to connect to the computer.

This connection needs to be figured out before ordering parts. The right pico-psu will connect right into the ATX power supply plug, just like the plug coming out of a regular ATX power supply. But the barrel connection needs to be supported by the case.

Removing the motherboard battery and waiting a couple minutes before replacing it should reset it to where you can gain access again. It should help you. If not then reset your jumper to clear the CMOS. You can get the jumper resetting instruction in the motherboard manual.

Hello

I have been looking to build a PC for about 2 months, First I was sure id want to build a full tower desktop but lately I have been interested in the idea of a mini PC,

I want to use it for gaming on ultra graphics ( BF4 and Elder scrolls online when it releases) and watching movies.

What Im most worried about is the temperatures, but ive read around and it seems it shouldn't really be an issue with a good case with proper fans and a good cooling GPU,

any recommendations on parts?

I have been looking on Thermaltake Armor A30 SECC case and im waiting for nvidias price cut in November kinda, else I will probably go with one of the new AMD cards,

I have built atx desktops, but am considering a mini itx. possib ly with one of those pico power supplies, and an intel 2120t for low power. this will just be for microsoft office stuff and web browsing. I am not a gamer. I understand there is often not a case fan, and if I use a ssd I think the whole thing should be ok with just the cpu fan.

anything I need to know before getting myself into trouble?

A:Anything I should know before building first mini ITX?

not really. just make sure that everything (mobo, CPU heatsink, GPU, etc) will fit comfortably inside the case.
which case did you have in mind?

Hi - I am posting pics of the min-itx computer I made within a clear very small plexi-glas case I was motivated to do this after reading abt tiny, clear mini-itx plexi-glas of build Pics the mini-itx form factor including reading that it basically can do what a full ATX format MB could do with some limits on RAM slots and vid cards and reading abt the low-power w tdp intel chips with native video that were Pics of mini-itx tiny, clear plexi-glas build a really cool fit between low power low heat atom processors and the usual intel or amd desktop CPUs the low power makes it easier to have adequate cooling it had to have a max power demand level that would allow a laptop-type power supply with heat sink in the power cable and not in the computer case --the micro-psu atx power supplies plus appropriate laptop-type power cord are a great set-up to allow this I am fascinated by the atoms but still not knowledgeable enough or excited enough to figure out my own build based on an atom I told my year old son that we would make a computer together he likes looking at lego dots com and other kid stuff It would be small since it was just for a boy it would be cool since we like things to be cool for items that might be visually cool to shop for we shopped the case was found on ebay I though some aggressive cool heat sinks on ram would fit per my calculations but I was wrong I ordered g-skill ram with cool heat sinks but had to remove the heat sinks to fit the case temps are fine that was abt it for what would look cool the rest - not much - hard drive and cpu cooler - just had to fit video was not a big concern these intel chips have onboard and these MBs know it and we are not intense gamers the future - maybe not so much I hope he is not living in my basement in years playing rpg specs in next post nbsp

A:Pics of mini-itx tiny, clear plexi-glas build

Specs.
intel g630t. a great price point with the performance we need for everything, at low power - 35w - our needs do not include rpg etc but includes web-browsing, transfer of pics from digital camera to hard drive, some MS Office stuff. ----stock cooler is very low profile, and fits.

4 gb gskill ram.

win7 home 64bit.

Kingston 120 gb hd --repurposed from some other comp I had done.

repurposed 40mm fan as case fan.

usb 150mb/sec transponder -- from Frys for $10.

Oh- big deal - MB is Intel mini-itx dh61dl. you can build a typical atx computer with this, but with limits - the only card slots are 1 (one) mini pci-e and pci-express.

I have a Windows 7 computer wired into my home network. It has a printer attached to it that I have set to share. I have a windows 7 laptop and an XP laptop. This is all normal operation for print/file sharing. If you really want sharing without using passwords (imo a security risk), then you need to google for "anonymous sharing"

I'm building mini-ITX builds for a couple of people, just wondering if people have had any experience with mini-ITX motherboards and which manufacturer to go for?

It will be a Haswell build and there's not exactly a lot of choice out there (looking at H87):
- Gigabyte GA-H87N
- ASRock H87M-ITX
- ASUS H87I-PLUS
Anything I should be aware of? I'm leaning towards the ASRock, the Fast Boot (1.5 secs to Windows 8 logon screen) sounds very interesting,

Hi Friends ... I have this laptop that has been given to me by my company and the USB ports have been blocked in manner such that I can copy stuff from my USB drive on to the machine but cannot copy in the reverse direction, ie. from the hard drive to the USB. Hey guys,

I need your help. These two smartphones cost almost the same in my country, but I'm not sure which one should I buy. HTC has a better UI, but Samsung's specs are more powerful, especially the camera (even though they both have 5MP). On the other hand, I'm not sure what to think of Samsung's screen with weird contrast.

Which one would you buy? Thanks so much in advance.

Well I can only speak for the S3 Mini because that's what I bought a few week back. Personally I love it, think it's great. Not sure what to make of your "weird contrast" comment, haven't found any of that myself.

I'd be pretty confident you wouldn't be unhappy with the S3 Mini

I have a generic Flash drive 512GB that is formatted exFat. When writing files to it, the computer crashed and since then, the drive has been in a read only state (there is no write protection switch on the outside of the drive casing).

When running diskpart it says current read only state: yes. But for read only, it says no. I can clear the read only state, and it will even say successful, but the current read only state still says yes.

Disk Management in windows control panel says the drive is healthy, active partition.

A:Encrypted Micro SD card... forgot password

I don't know for sure that it does, but if it uses any remotely decent form of encryption then you're going to need to remember that password... it's kind of the point of encrypting it in the first place. If anyone knows differently please chime in.

A little history of the laptop: I bought the laptop used from a friends and All the keys work except "O", "L" and the period. I bought a brand new replacement keyboard and those buttons worked fine, for awhile. I finally bought a new Wwindows Vista cd and installed it on the laptop, since it was supposed to have Vista and it had XP for whatever reason. Still nothing, when I unplug the keyboard ribbon and plug it back in, the keys work for a while and then stop. Any answers are greatly appreciated.

I?ve never had to set the BIOS password, but the kids are growing up and I need to lock access to my PC.

My Bios has two Password Options: Supervisor and User.

The Supervisor password was accepted, and before I attempt to change the BIOS settings, the Supervisor password is asked for.

Then I set the user password.

However, when I boot up the PC, I am not asked for any password and windows loads as usual.

What am I missing?

The BIOS is Award Software International, Inc. F4 HI 07/03/2007

Now you'll want to set your system to ask for that password every time it boots, so select the BIOS FEATURES SETUP option, to see a menu something like this:

Fairly obviously, it's the Password Check option we're interested in, so select it and change the setting to ALWAYS.

Can somebody advice me, what went wrong with my laptop?
I properly shutdown the system, then the following morning I turned it on, my keybaord and stationary pad is no longer working? Can somebody tell me what it causes its malfunction?

A:Compaq laptop keyboard and stationary pad, not working

Hard to say, it could be a driver issue, windows update that caused the devices to, for some reason, stop responding.

Are you are you able to connect an external mouse/keyboard to the laptop and check Device Manager for a Yellow Exclamation mark or red X's.

To Check Device Manager:
Go to Start, right click My Computer. From the dropdown menu select Manage.
From the new window that pops up go to Device Manager on the left hand side. When the right hand side finishes loading check to see if there are any yellow exclamation marks or red X's. (Mainly under the Keyboard/Mouse headings)

A:Help upgrading my current PC

Most important question: what's your budget?

If you're gaming the GPU will be the best upgrade, but recommendations all depend on your budget.

If you want you can get a Core 2 Duo/Quad to replace your Celeron, but they're legacy products now and you'll have to buy one off eBay. It's probably advisable not to upgrade your CPU/mobo/RAM and save up for a new combo.

My video has went completely out and since it's built into the motherboard is there any graphics cards I can purchase and install to over write it? I know how to install them I just need to know which one is compatible with my computer.

A:New graphics card for a Compaq Presario SR5113WM

Your computer has a X16 PCI-E slot for a video card, so you should have a large selection of video cards to choose from. The problem you'll run into is room in your case, and you have an underpowered 250W power supply. You'll need at least a good 450W power supply and video card that fit in your case. Pretty much any video card you purchase will be significantly more powerful than your old built-in video chip.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151074

The above should do. I'm not 100% on the size of the power supply. It may or may not fit inside your case. I'm very sure the video card will fit.

Hi.
I have a Compaq Presario R4000. It's around 6 years old. Until recently it has worked as well as any other laptop with the usual software problems. Yesterday I tried to switch it on and all I see is the charge light flashes once for around 1 second then goes out. No response at all from the machine. Tried running it without the battery but still no response. A friend told me that it may be the battery and that some laptops won't run without a battery inserted.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers.

A:Compaq Presario R4000 won't turn on

The motherboard is probably fried, after 6 years. Also, the CPU cooling heatsink/fan could be bad or the thermal paste or pads could be burned. If the battery is the original it is in long need of replacing...

"that some laptops won't run without a battery inserted"

Not exactly true. If the AC adapter circuits are faulty, maybe yes. Otherwise, it is not true. If a battery shorts, it can keep a laptop from powering up

Hello Everyone!
Ive been facing a peculiar problem with my Dell inspiron mini 270 of late. Its power light wont go off even after I switch off the laptop thus indicating that it is still being charged! What is even more strange is that in such a state I cannot restart my laptop until after the power light goes off on its own after a few hours. After repeated attempts, I have come to understand that this indicates that now the battery is discharged. Now when I put the power adaptor on and switch on the laptop, it starts. This effectively means that every time I charge the battery and switch off the laptop after some work, I HAVE to wait till the battery is completely discharged to start the laptop again. Guys, guys, I am at my wits end and have extremely close to tearing off my few remaining strands of hair. Any clues anyone?

RAM voltage don't matter, there's something other than the RAM that isn't working. There might be a problem with the PSU or you simply didn't connect the 6-pins to the video card. Btw, the mobo you have DOES support that kind of memory! Double check every connector, you should get that thing up and running.

I have a recorded video on a mini DVD. I don't have the Sony camcorder to play or edit it. I have Dell inspiron laptop. When I insert the disc, it produce some noise but does not play the disc.

Can anyone guide me how to play it or may be copy the video form the disc?

Thanks !

A:Mini DVD

Have you played the DVD mini disc before?
Do you know if it has been finalised ?, because it must be, before you can play it on a different DVD player/PC. If it still an 'open' disc, you will have to finalise it on the camera that recorded it in the first place, or one like it.
Then you may be able to play it on a pc. If Windows media player won't play it, download the free program VLC player.

Hi there. My first post on the forums.

I'll get right to it; I'm probably getting a new GPU as preperation for Battlefield 3, since my old one (8800GTS 320 mb) is starting to get REALLY old. I thought of getting the hd6780 as it was surprisingly cheap, the only issue was that it will be bottlenecked by my current CPU ([email protected] Ghz), or my current hardware in general for that matter(4GB of DDR2 ram @667 Mhz). So basically I just want to know; will the hd6780 work OK with my current setup? I know it will bottleneck to some degree for sure, I'm just wondering how much.

I'm planning to play Battlefield 3 on my 720p TV, which means a pretty low resolution of 1280x768 so hopefully it will run well even if my CPU could've been better.

Hopefully someone could take some time and answer me.

A:Is my current CPU too big of a bottleneck for an HD 6780?

I'm sure someone else that knows more about cards than me will reply, but in the meantime I replaced an 8800GTS 320 with a Radeon HD 5830 on a C2D [email protected] and I'm playing SC2 at 1920x1080 with pretty high settings (I thought they were maxed (without AA) but someone informed me that wouldn't be possible with my hardware). I think at that low of a resolution your processor will be bottlenecked quite a bit, but it may prevent you from getting 200fps when you'll get 130fps instead (I just made those numbers up, but my point is even if the CPU is holding you back it will still be playable).

I would suspect that unless you have a CPU upgrade planned real soon, you may be better off getting a less powerful card. The reason I say that is, by the time you do get around to upgrading your CPU and mobo, your 6870 might not be real great anymore. So you could probably save money and get a lesser card (hopefully someone will have suggestions) for less money and put that money towards beer, or maybe a future cpu/mobo upgrade.

Edit: I confirmed today I am playing with everything on Ultra or High if high is max setting. I've played the campaign and probably 150 bnet games and only once have I seen the message 'your computer is slowing down gameplay' and aside from that one time I've not noticed any video lag.

A:Display problem with Compaq Presario v3239tu

The YouTube video is corrupt... It doesn't look like the HP support has a Windows 7 video driver for your model laptop. Did the laptop originally come with Vista installed or XP? If you have a Nvidia video chip, you might find a better driver there at the Nvidia support website

Hello,
I will be buying for myself a hx750 PSU modular. It is 18 cm long and my case will not support it to round the cables from the back. I do not think that is a problem as the PSU is modular. My question is, should I make the output for the cables round the back of the case bigger by cutting some off or not.

Here is a picture:
Where it says 14 should be 15 cm

Thanks in advance

EDIT: Wouldn't the AX750 be better as it can fit?

It sounds like a hardware problem to me. Try removing the battery and running the laptop directly off of the charger.

The fact its turning off so fast clearly suggests there is a serious issue though.

A:Building a computer witth a mini-ATX tower

Typo: you listed the monitor twice, once under PSU, Otherwise those parts look fine however even though it is a minitower due to the front mounted power supply that case will support a full ATX motherboard. I would personally recommend a Full ATX motherboard since they offer much more expansion. This is a good option and only costs slightly more, Although If you go with something like this you will get SATA 6gbps, USB 3.0, more memory slots, and a faster chipset.

Also Biostar motherboards are ok but far from the best try to look for boards from Gigabyte, ASUS, or MSI.

Hello,

I know the title is a bit vague, but I would like to know if my current BenQ DVD DD DW1640 ATA Device is a good enough optical drive, or if it needs some upgrading.

Thanks

A:Is my current optical drive good enough?

The way i see it bud is if it works...It's good enough. I bought a Lite-On SATA DVD-RW a few month back because my old ATA blew on me. It aint no different in my opinion.

As long as it plays all my discs (DVDs, CDs..ect) it's fine. Obviously if i want to play bluray and it can't, then it aint good enough, simple as that.

Some people probably think that you HAVE to have the latest, fastest drive around; but for me, It's the part of the PC that's just simply black or white (works or doesn't).

I have a Geforce 8400 in my Compaq Presario SR5450F, but I'm a gamer of sorts and this video card doesn't work with a lot of the games I want to play. I was looking at the Geforce 9500, but it requires 350W and the power supply in my computer is only 250W. Is there any graphics card that will work in my computer for games such as The Sims 3 and Starcraft II? Could I get a new power supply that will support the Geforce 9500 AND fit in my computer? I was planning on getting the parts from Newegg.com if they'll even work. Thanks very much in advance for an input!

A:Upgrading a Compaq Presario SR5450F graphics card

The thing with companies like HP, Dell, etc. is their cases are designed so that they try to force the buyer to go through them for upgrades costing considerably more $.

Measure your power supply's dimensions and we'll take it from there. Also, make sure your motherboard can handle an upgrade to this card.

Can you link us to your system?

I doubt your RAM would work, the lowest speed listed on the Memory support list for that motherboard is DDR3 1066. To be honest its rather slow anyway, you want to be considering DDR3 1600 or higher.

many times (and its advisable) that you use identical ram when adding memory, or at least the same brand, type (single sided, dual sided) capacity, timings, voltage, ect.

This is apparently a common problem with no single answer. Regardless of whether any USB is plugged in or not, the system will give this error after POST. I can't get it to go to BIOS, pressing Delete at the mobo screen does nothing.

A:Asus motherboard "USB Device Over Current Status Detected"

I just did a search for this error and I see what you mean, there are dozens of different solutions. Had you made any changes just before this occured?

I think the best place to start is to begin by disconnecting everything from the mobo apart from one memory stick and the monitor. This includes disconnecting the hard drive/s, CD drive/s, keyboard, mouse speakers, printer, any USB device and unplugging the cable that goes to the front USB connections (if you have any) any cards including graphics (unless you have no onboard graphics to connect to the monitor) and any card readers or floppy drives. Then try to boot and see if you get the post screen or that error again.

Let me know what happens.

Bought a gtx 460 for some reason. And for some other reason HDMI is shown as no input. I read somewhere to get audio through hdmi u have to enable it throguh bios have to enable visual hdmi there as well?

Also I wanted to know a good program that lets me see how my video card is performing and if its being bottleknecked?

A:Can't get Mini HDMI input to work from graphics card

If you want to check if your video card is being bottlenecked, just open up resource manager and play any game you like.

Check how much strain is being put on the cpu and compare it to the gpu usage.

GPU-Z is my personal favorite gpu monitoring program. Get it from TechPowerUp.

If you have a core 2 duo running under 3.5 ghz it'll most likely be a bottleneck in modern games.

However, with a quad core with a clock rate of at least 2.5 or so then you should be fine.

Also, it really depends on the game.

Older games less cores doesn't really matter as much as the gpu. Newer games can become really demanding on both the cpu and gpu.

A:How to set password for my IO Data Landisk?

you're into a bag of worms - - is this a personal LAN attached NAS or a commerical problem?

for background on the subject, see this PDF

The process to secure access to a NAS storage device is:

take ownership of the root folder and replace all children's permissions
create a group name which implies NAS-access
grant desired privileges to that group name
now go back and add your desired user-logins to the new group name
To revoke access, delete joe-user from that group list

A:Dead graphics card on Compaq Presario V6000

I think the shops advise is most probably correct. I've been unable to confirm this for certain but in general 90% of laptops have the graphics card integrated into the motherboard, so if the graphics have failed then it has to be a new mobo.

The overheating was probably caused by a faulty fan or dust build up. This could also have damaged the CPU. Considering the cost of replacement your best bet would be a new PC.

I have read some reports that the V6000 had known problems with faulty soldering on the graphics chips. So, there is just a slim chance you might be able to find an electronics expert who could check the solderiing but it is micro soldering to say the least.

A:Compaq EVO N610c won't boot

Hence the need for surge protection, well worth the money.

Before spending time over any diagnostics can you try booting with an OS disc in the drive. If this does nothing then find the memory modules, if it only has one no need to continue, if it has two,(you must remove the battery before doing this) take one out and try to boot normally, if no change then swap the modules and try again.

Let me know what happens and when you try to boot is there a flashing cursor on the screen or is it completely blank.

One of my computers has been acting up. It's a Compaq Presario 5202HM running Vista. When it's being used, it often make a "whirring" noise that will persist for several minutes. Then it stops, and it's quiet again for awhile. Every once in a while, this will happen when a program (like the anti-virus) is updating, but it happens at other times, too. During the time when the whirring occurs, the computer's performance is extremely sluggish and it's almost impossible to do anything with it. It's defragmented weekly, with Disk Cleanup run at least daily. The diagnostic program that came with it doesn't come back with any evidence of hardware failure. Any ideas?

Check the temperatures of the components in your system using HWMonitor . It could be that the CPU is overheating on occasions which is leading to slow performance.

Okay so I'm not technologically savvy but I'm guessing to make most of the games that I download to actually run, I need a better graphics card?

Whenever I play games with decent to good graphics, my system just won't function right. They lag until my computer freezes and stuff. So I just wanna know what I can do to actually play games.

Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Model: HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC
Rating: 3.5
Processor: Intel (R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5450 @ 1.66GHz 1.67GHz
Memory RAM: 2.00 GB
System Type: 32-bit operating system
Windows Vista Home Premium

I'm not sure what other info I would need to show you guys
I'm willing to spend around 150 or less dollars on stuff I would need to make this computer run better for games

oh my power supply:
Its a replacement AC adapter
Input: AC100-240V 1.2A 50/60Hz
Output: 18.5V 3.5A

Thanks in advance

Hi. I am using a Compaq SR5113WM. I just removed my edition of Vista and replaced it with XP SP3 so as to use less memory, and I just started playing WoW. I'm buying 4 more Gigs of RAM, and I'm wondering if I should also add on a graphics card. I don't know much about graphics and processors, etc. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. I know it'll play WoW as is, but it plays choppily unless I use the lowest graphics settings. I'd also like to get it up to maybe Oblivion proportions. Sorry for my vagueness. Thanks.

A:Upgrading my RAM on Compaq SR5113WM. Thinking graphics

"Integrated graphics using nVidia GeForce 6150SE" This is the on-board graphics chip. Your power supply is only 250 watts. This will severely limit any graphics card addition, so plan on changing the power supply if you add a video card. A power supply of 350 watts or bigger will work. Windows XP 32-bit will only support or see 3GB or so of system memory

This was brought to me by a classmate who thinks i am a freak. The laptop started this issue about some days ago. The issue is that the laptop dies itself whether plugged or not after sometime of usage, or at times it will just bring up the LED and die immediately without coming up. He said if he leaves it for a while a day or two he can use it for about 30 mins before it dies.
I thought maybe it's overheating stuff. but i still feel the fan spinning and the vent ok. Can anyone give me a hint on this
Thanks in advance

A:HP Compaq 610 dies

The more it rests the more its uptime.

How can i check the cpu temperature?
Note* The system dies after a couple of minutes.

I tried removing the battery for a couple of hours to be sure is not capacitors / transient stuff, it still behaves the same.

i'd like to hear from anyone

Will HIS Radeon 5770 1G on Abit IS7G mainboard fit in Lian Li A05N mini ATX case? My old 450W power supply enough? Application: video streaming, stock charts, web surf, email. Thanks for info.

A:Radeon 5770 in Lian Li mini ATX case?

Without knowing the technical specs of the power supply, it would be hard to say if will be sufficient but possibly. If those are examples of applications you are planning to run and no gaming, then the 5770 is overkill. You can get by with a much smaller card, then

I'm having trouble overclocking my desktop. I can't find any settings in the bios that have anything to do with voltage and all the programs I've tried don't support the hardware. I've got a HP Compaq dc 7800p Convertible Minitower with Windows XP Pro SP3 on it.

A:How do I overclock HP Compaq?

Most pre-built systems do not support overclocking so there are no options in the BIOS.

If you want to get into overclocking build your own PC or buy a custom PC with hardware that supports overclocking.

A:Upgrading my current processor

i dont think that cpu will work in your old system you would have to buy a new motherboard and ram as i think that you have a soket 939 board if it is just a plain old 1.86Ghz athlon cpu.

I recently damaged my genuine laptop charger and couldnt find a charger with the same specs, the only one I found had a lower standard, it works fine but I am afraid of damages on the long run, any ideas?

Hp pavillion dv4
old charger output 19V 4.74A 90W
New charger output 18.5V 3.5A 65W

Thanks....

A:Does a charger with lower watts and current damage a laptop?

your risk is to the charger, not the laptop.old charger output 19V 4.74A 90W
New charger output 18.5V 3.5A 65Wthe voltage difference is only 0.5v , the big difference is the
current output.

googling for Hp pavillion dv4 I found the hp dv4 spec to be
Power

* 65 W AC Adapter
* 6-cell Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion)which is IDENTICAL

I guess you have a match with the new charger and the original was just a bonus
