Preferred Solution: Dual graphics card showing up as N/a DXdiag

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all!

happy new year!

I bought this computer and it has Nvidia GeForce GT540m graphics card (i thinks its optimus)

but on dxdiag>display it says intel HD graphics family.. wtf?

I don't know what is with it but do I not have Nvidia?

PS: on some games such a skyrim and oblivion it detected my computer and said i have Nvidia gefore gt540m but I wonder why it doesn't show up on dxdiag as 540 but as intel HD o.o

any help will be really appreciated !

thanks

A:dxdiag showing the wrong graphics card

hmm, Hi again. could you fill up your complete system specs from user cp?. not sure this will work. but you could try: remove the graphics driver, then reinstall it. steps: remove graphics driver -> reboot computer -> install latest version of graphics driver -> reboot computer again.
and check

A:Dxdiag not showing me my video card

DrBarneyStinson, welcome to the Seven Forums.

The reason it isn't showing is that Windows 7 has limited support for older video cards, and yours is one that never had a Windows 7 driver made for it. The best you're going to get for a driver for it is this one,

ATI Catalyst

You also don't have a driver for your sound card installed according to that log. Looking at the Dell download page for that model computer it came with either Realtek onboard, or it came with a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer. If unsure which you have a quick look at the back of the computer will tell you which it is,

#1 would be the onboard Realtek, and #2 if it has the Creative card. Can point you to the correct driver once you identify that.

Now before installing the video card driver it would be a good idea to run this,

Intel? Driver Update Utility

and make sure you have the latest chipset drivers installed first. Will also help with installing drivers for other devices after.

Hi,
I'm running w7 and have a nvidia geforce 6200 ddr2 512mb 64bit agp video card which was installed before adding w7.
When opening dxdiag under the display tab it's not there but it is in the device manager having the correct driver yet still has a yellow icon next to it.
I have tried vista driver's with the same result.
The driver now being used is from w7 update ( prerelease ) WDDM-1.0

Any idea's?

Okay I m not much of a computer whiz so I ll try to relay my issue as best I can Earlier our computer was having serious virus issues Just a few days ago xp just reinstalled itself basically I have no idea why but it seems to have cleared out the viruses and all that up card dxdiag Video in not showing jargon I decided to try and play some WoW and noticed that it wouldn t load due to it not finding a suitable display device I opened dxdiag and in the Display tab all I see is n a about everything I ve been reading threads about this and I m pretty sure I need a graphics card driver or something installed I know that my video card was an ATI Radeon Family I can t remember the exact numbers after it Here s some specs about Video card not showing up in dxdiag my computer OS Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition build manufacturer emachines model t BIOS Default System BIOS Processor Intel Premium D CPU GHz CPUs nbsp

A:Video card not showing up in dxdiag

You or someone will have to open the PC and pull out the card to look at it to determine the model number. The basic specs of that Emachines that I looked up show an integrated Intel graphics solution so what other card might have been installed is anyone's guess.

Have you a 64 bit processor? The "6.01.7600.16385 32-bit unicode" that appears, is your processor, not your OS.

Ok i've never had this problem before.
Yesterday i tried to play Batman Asylum and i was unable to play it because it says i need a better graphic card.I've played the game with no problem 2 days ago with my graphic card nvidia 8600 GT.

So i checked the device manager and dxdiag and it is showing the wrong graphic card which is NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 43. The one attached to my computer is actually 8600 GT.

So someone help me please ?

Thanks in advance.

A:Solved: Wrong Graphic Card Showing On Dxdiag and Device Manager.

For some ODD reason, your computer is confused... and is referring the GF6150 as your primary display adapter.

You should disable it in BIOS, if possible.

The reason is because you don't have the latest version of your video card drivers installed.

A few weeks ago I reinstalled Vista because of some problems. I believe I updated all the drivers, service packs, and directx (I believe). I tried playing a game and an error message appeared, "unable to initialize direct 3D" I've searched around and tried to fix the problem but haven't found anything. Here's the dxdiag system tab:

And here is the display tab, my graphics card does not show up:

Here's a screenshot of the device manager, which gives me code 43:

Here's a screen of GPU-Z:

And Here's a screen of CPU-Z:
If there is anything else you need me to provide, just let me know. I'd really like to get this problem solved. I've reinstalled the video card drivers and it didn't help, I'm thinking it might be a BIOS problem. Any suggestions?

Are you sure your DVI, display port, HDMI, etc is connected to the graphics card not to the onboard graphics? Try reseating the card on another PCIe x16 slot. Make sure the display connections are connected to the GPU not the onboard graphics. Do the clean install to the latest stable drivers (314). Driver sweeper should have cured any software issues. If the reseating, checking the connectors, etc doesnt work, it is most likely an issue with the card.

A:Graphics card not showing in Display adapters

If reinstalling the driver / installing the latest driver didn't help, it may be that your video card is going bad.

However, if it were on my bench, I'd give the computer a good cleaning with all the cards removed, then reinstall the cards making sure they're seated properly.

Good luck with it.

A:New graphics card not showing 'Splash screen'

Not raely software or driver problem but will try to help.
If you can get in BIOS with, I presume integrated video card, there should be a setting somewhere in BIOS for "primary" video and should be set to PCI express instead of integrated and then install video card. Not all BIOSs can do that automatically.

I have a new computer with Vista Home Premium x64. I used a dual monitor graphics card in my old computer with Windows XP. Took the card out and install it in my new computer and updated the driver. But, performance is poor. For example I can't use Vista Aero.
I would like to buy a new, relatively inexpensive dual monitor graphics card which is compatible with Vista premium x64. Any suggestions?

I have a laptop with built in i quadcore gb ram and dual graphics card One being Intel Extreme whatever whatever The other is a Geforce card with gb D Anyway my problem is simple my laptop has a button to switch my GPU Geforce on but it means only the card is on but it does not Dual - graphics card etc.... BSOD mean in any way Dual graphics card - BSOD etc.... the computer will use the card In the old days such as XP the computer will always use the Geforce card So I am just wondering anyway to force this to happen Most games i play don't even use it and i feel a little frustrated to paid USD for a card that does nothing I tried doing the setup on the menu which is app by app but it seems some app just have that option greyed out Also my Intel Card seems to be facing some issue to be honest and from time to time it kicks me out with BSOD Memory Management gt Hardware issue when diagnosed or simply C Runtime library error Thanks a lot in advance

A:Dual graphics card - BSOD etc....

Alright, let me see if I'm understanding the situation correctly:

You want to use the dedicated card over the iGPU, correct? I'm not entirely sure how laptops handle the switching process, but you might want to try disabling the iGPU from within the BIOS. However, despite having just recommended that let's clear up a few things.

1. Fill out your system specs. It'd be a lot easier for me (and everyone else) to help you.
2. Are there any drivers for the card installed?
3. What was the cause of the BSOD? I'd hazard a guess at it being IRQL Not Less Or Equal (driver related).

How can I tell if my graphics card has dual-head capabilities? There are 2 plug-in places on it, but they look different.

Video Adapter: RADEON 9200 (128 MB)

I'm looking into setting up another monitor.

I have found SONY's support to be nearly impossible to use.

A:My graphics card dual head??

Yes, it's dual head, but one side is digital output. If you have 2 VGA monitors, you'll need an adapter like THIS one.

Or buy a monitor with DVI input.

I wonder if EVGA had the official 'okey-dokey' before pushing out this little gem. It handily bests the GTX 580 while sporting 2GB 's of memory.(only 1GB per GPU however). In many situations it will give the GTX 590 a run for its money...actually for about $200.00 less. At the same price as the average GTX 580, this card would seem to be ready to cannibalize sales of both the GTX 580, and 590 if it is made widely available. It's seemingly an odd move, but a tremendous card according to the folks over at PC Perspective

From PC Perspective:

the review can be had here at PC Perspective
:http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-560-Ti-2Win-2GB-Dual-GPU-Graphics-Card-Review

A:EVGA GTX 560 Ti 2 Win 2GB dual-GPU graphics card

The card more than likely has Nvidia's stamp of approval since at the price point it equals enthusiast territory, and like the dual GTX 460 EVGA launched earlier, I think the card is neutered on being SLI'ed with another of it's kind ( strike one). Nice niche card but...
At $500+ it's also going up against EVGA's own GTX 560Ti DS (with similar cooling) that's clocked faster and would certainly have more OC headroom at the same price point (SLI) (strike two)
Like the dual-GTX460 (and the PowerColor dual HD 6870) I wouldn't think the card would see widespread release. It checks the same boxes as the conventional two card setup ( good price/ perf. relatively cool'n'quiet ..but is still saddled with the 1GB frame buffer and 256-bit bus that makes it less than suitable for Surround/ 3D/ 3D Surround (strike three).

I'm actually surprised that EVGA haven't launched a dual version of their GTX 580 Classified 3GB (just for PR's sake at least) and Nvidia probably would frown upon a GTX 570-2Win, but I'm also guessing that the PCB, extra memory and VRM's would make it prohibitively expensive in any case...so given that those two options are off the table, then a dual GTX 560Ti becomes the de facto choice I suppose.

Hey all,
I've got a bunch of HP Compaq dc5800 and dc6000 small form factors in the office I do IT support for. A couple of the employees have requested the use of multiple monitors, but I quickly discovered that the standard video card in these models does no support this function. I have looked on-line for an appropriate card replacement, but haven't found one that will fit into the compact design of the small form factor PCs.

Does anyone know of a specific make/model of graphics card that will fit? It doesn't need to be super powerful, just capable of running two monitors, (typically they have both a VGA and DVI port).

Thanks for your help.

Hello Forum, im CrazyKilla

I have Dual GTS 450s which work very nicely, although performance isn't too great, at first i didn't know how to enable SLI, but then i found this in NVIDIA Control Panel

The problem is, Every time i start up my PC, i have to open up the drop box, and change from GTS 1 to GTS 2, or GTS 2 to GTS 1, then dedicate that card to PhysX, that enables SLI, but only some of the time,

Why do i have to switch what card is Dedicated to PhysX every time i start PC to enable SLI? i know if its enabled or disabled because i have a program called TechPowerUp GPU-Z that shows if SLI is enabled, and also if SLI is enabled my gaming performance increases a lot,

A:Dual Graphics card SLI Problem

So you have to reset the options every time?

It might be worth uninstalling / re-installing the video drivers and doing a custom installation. Don't install: the updater, the 3d vision drivers, hd audio. Basically you only want the video driver and physx.

During the process, there is an option checkbox to "Perform a clean installation" -make sure you enable that. It basically sets everything to defaults during installation.

As for the Physx dedication - leave it to Auto.

I have a question in regards to having three monitors.

I know that with my single 6850, if I want three monitors, I have to either do DVI, DVI, and DisplayPort, or DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort.

I am getting a 2nd 6850 mid-week. Will I be able to do DVI-DVI-HDMI with a 2nd card or am I still in the same boat?

I guess it's not that big of a deal if I have to get a DisplayPort-DVI or HDMI adapter, I'm just curious.

A:Three Monitors Dual Graphics Card question

Hello there, Johnathan.

I'm not a Multiple monitors guy. but i'm pretty sure that you can connect them like that:

DVI-DVI-HDMI

I guess is possible because the purpose of adding another card to you rig is somehow related to the fact that you want to add more monitors (of course, this is only one of the reasons for multiple cards), hence, you need extra ports for connecting all the monitors. hehe Somebody please correct me if i'm wrong

Cheers, mate.

I just purchased this pre-built machine:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7375900

Acer Aspire AM3970-UR14P DT.SJYAA.003 Desktop PC

I'm attempting to order a graphics card upgrade ( probably an affordable Nvida GT 650 ti . Obviously the card will consume some space due to the fan. I'm trying to figure out if the card ( or a similar dual slot PCIx card) will fit onto the motherboard. I know from past experience that a lot of non-custom built PCs have little to no room for expansion.

I've searched all over the net about this particular model number of Acer Aspire and can come up with no information about the motherboard to check for myself.

Would anyone happen to know where i can find info about the motherboard for this particular model of Acer Aspire desktop?

** Also, i do intend on removing the included radeon card.

It is hard to tell if it would fit the case, but the specs state that your computer only has a 300W Power Supply and that definitely will not work with the card you list.

Hey all I have a Dell Inspiron R SE model Card Driver Screwup Graphics Dual and have seriously goofed up here In my infinite wisdom I attempted to update the AMD graphics card driver through AMD rather than through Dell and was immediately greeted with Windows Startup Repair when it rebooted I ve since gotten it to boot properly but now the drivers for both the AMD Radeon HD M and the built in Intel HD have gotten tangled up in knots I ve tried getting it from the Dell support site this time and it half worked the problem is I think I have at least three drivers for my graphics cards banging around in here and am unsure how to safely uninstall this mess without causing more issue Any ideas here I couln t get a good restore point couldn t get a good driver rollback and really really don t want to do a factory reset EDIT Should probably have specified this is -bit Windows that s rather important

A:Dual Graphics Card Driver Screwup

Hi COMPUTERGREMLIN,
Create a restore point first, even though the drivers are not stable right now.
Download the Intel driver from - http://intel.ly/1T7ZN9B
Download the amd driver from - http://bit.ly/1RMqeC2
The above 2 listed links are directly from the vendor site - Intel and AMD. These are latest releases than compared to the drivers listed on the Dell support site.
Download the BIOS from - http://dell.to/1TK2M9M
From the same link above, you could also choose to download the old but stable drivers for the Intel and AMD video drivers.
Once done, uninstall the existing video drivers from device manager and from control panel -> programs and features.
Update the BIOS and restart the system. Once in windows, create another system restore point.
Install the Intel driver first - restart the system and then install the amd driver and restart the system.
This should fix the driver related issues you are facing. Once all installations are done, create one more restore point for future reference.
Keep us updated.

Hey guys,
Very simple question here. I wanted to set up a dual monitor thing on my Dv6-1352. I believe it has this integrated graphics chip : Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD. I wanted to use the dual monitor capabilities on it, but I was wondering if over time, extended use of the graphics card due to dual monitors would make it over heat/kill it. I don't plan on playing games, just using it cuz A) Its pretty cool B)It'd help increase efficiency in my engineering school work documents which requires I have a lot of things open at the same time.

Someone may have a better answer. But whenever I've seen issues such as this where software won't retain settings, or something works for a short time but continiously breaks in the same way, it's typically a sign of an OS/registry...and a fresh install of the OS will usually resolve the issue.

I bought a new monitor today so I could run two screens off my computer so I had more space to photoshop ect. My computer doesn't seem to notice that my new monitor is plugged in and my graphics card doesn't give me the option to use my new monitor.
I do have two monitor outputs on my motherboard/processor
Any ideas?

A:Graphics card doesn't accept dual monitors

I am not sure if I will be able to provide an answer but someone else here may be able to help if we knew the exact brand and model number of your computer and/or motherboard.

Your subject line mentions a graphics card. If you do have a separate graphics card plugged in, also please give us the exact brand and model number of the card.

HI there all, i have a question.. i have a spare ddr5 HIS 5770 graphics card i was wondering if i could put it in my little dual core machine (old trusty) ,the card can run dvi or hdmi or is this overkill for such a small machine being a dualcore and all its an acer veriton 5700g 2 gig of ram,ps its running win 7 (dunno how i jammed it in there but i did), and if its possible would i need any hdmi drivers to help the board cope or is it just impossible all together? would be cool if i could turn it into a tiny freak machine ,hopefully i havnt left anything out ,cheers

I have an Inspiron 560, currently using the on-board graphics (Intel G45/G43).  I found an old Radeon PCI video card so I though i could install it and use a second monitor (this is just a business computer -- no gaming or anything).
When I installed the PCI card the system seemed to disable the on-board graphics and I can't find a way to have both on at the same time.
This old card may make my system run slower, I'm not sure, but I thought I'd give it a shot.  Any ideas on how I can have both on together?
FYI I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Thanks

A:Dual Monitors on Inspiron 560 with on-board graphics & PCI card?

Hi BulkHedd,Enabling both onboard video card and discrete video card is not available for this system. The on-board Intel video won't support two monitors with separate (different) screens because you have only one VGA output on the PC. Please let me know the exact video card you are using to assist you better.

I just installed Windows 7 Pro. Bought this computer with Vista installed. The Graphics driver was installed by Dell. I went up on the Nvidia site and downloaded what I thought was the proper driver(270.71-quadro-win7-winvista-32bit-international-whgl). It works but I think I might have downloaded the wrong driver. The Nvidia site is a nightmare for me.
Could you please advise. The driver that came with the Dell originally seemed to work fine.

Hi - I'm having to go back to an older comp due to i cracked my LCD on other laptop i was working on today and - for Performance XP DxDiag included Graphics help txt. and could use some advice adn insight from those more experienced at reading DxDiagnostics see what you think - improvments i can make for performance And possibly an issue or two i may be having the comp is a Dell XPS M I've included in both a text file and zip file the DXDiagnostic results below One issue that seemed to pop up since a recent XP help for Graphics and Performance - included DxDiag txt. re-install of XP- when i plug in a external drive it adds a Volume folder and recycler to the drive It never use to and i would like to stop it from continuing to do so probably a setting i can only guess at this moment it also adds a desktop file and thumbs db to every folder on my primary XP help for Graphics and Performance - included DxDiag txt. drive and externals XP help for Graphics and Performance - included DxDiag txt. this is recent too I don't know what causes this or how to stop it from happening as mentioned - i'd like to get the most i can from this laptop so any advice would help and if when reading the DxDiagnostics - you find something - please point it out to me - i'd like to learn how to read it - or at least know what i'm looking at when i look at some of it Some parts of it are pretty easy to know what it is - other parts might as well be written in greek thanx

A:XP help for Graphics and Performance - included DxDiag txt.

XP adds the recycler and volume folders to any drive, but it is usually hidden so that you cant see it even with the view hidden files\folders option enabled.

The recycler folder is basically the recycle bin for anything deleted on the drive.

The volume folder holds information on the size of the drive, and any system restore points for the drive.

Just hide these folders and it will be fine.

With regard to the DXDiagnostics -
It is reporting around 2GB of RAM installed - if you play games or are a heavy multimedia user, then these days 4GB is needed for the programs to run smoothly.

Also, your graphics card has 128MB of memory - again, if you want faster performance, this is an area you could improve.

When you say you want to learn how to read DxDiagnostics, which parts do you understand and which parts are you having trouble with?

Ive never had this glitch, but then again I dont normally run dual monitors, though I have in the past. Im running a 3870 x2. I also have a 4550 though ive never run dual monitors, and the 200m in my laptop has no issues with a external display as well as the ATI 4200 in my wifes compaq, with no issues. . .are your drivers up to date? and what OS are you using it in? ive tested m7 3870 x2 in xp home and vista ultimate-have not tried it with my 3870 in 7 yet, though the 4200 worked in 7 no problem. The only issue ive had with the compaq is with an external display attached, if its a mirror no problem, if I extend it reverses the screen on the laptop itself, really weird lol but ill get that figured out.

So the VGA to VGA works. The DVI to DVI doesn't work.

The Video Card came with a DVI to VGA Adapter. So I decided to unplug everything. Connect the DVI to VGA adapter to the DVI Port of the graphics card and connect a VGA Cable to the end of that adapter to the monitor. So DVI Out/DVI-VGA Cable/VGA to VGA to Monitor and got (again) no signal under Analog or Digital.

Im stuck. I dont know what to do

i've never tried to hook up dual monitors before so its probably something simple. i installed a new graphics card a while back and haven't used the original for months, and now that im trying to hook up dual monitors it wont even recognize the original in the device manager, or that i have a monitor plugged into it. both monitors work perfectly fine in the newer card slot. any assistance would be appreciated. thank you for your time.

A:computer wont recognize original graphics card for dual monitors

You can't use your onboard video card and an add-in card at the same time, it's one of the other. Well you can, but only on motherboards that support hybrid CrossfireX. In most cases your onboard video is disabled when an add-in card is detected by the BIOS. To use dual monitors you will have to have a video card that supports it and connect both monitors to that video card. Then press the Windows key and the P key to extend your desktop onto the second monitor.

EDIT: Filling in your system specs would help.

Hi guys, new and in need of help please.

Probably a basic problem to most but struggling here.

It has Windows 7 & a GeForce GT240 1024MB graphics card

I cannot get my 2nd monitor to work with a new PC I had last week. The DVI port seems to be the problem.

Both monitors work independantly through the VGA port fine, no problems, but neither work through the DVI port when I use a simple DVI to VGA adapter, I have tried 2 of these just to make sure it wasn't a dodgy adapter.

I have followed the various windows 7 'set-up dual monitors' tutorials but with no luck.

Nothing happens at all when I plug the 2nd monitor in.

Any thoughts?

Could I need to download a driver or anything?

Thanks for any help.

A:Problem setting up dual monitors with 7/GeForce GTS240 Graphics Card

Does that video card support DUAL VGA monitors? What I'm getting at is, is that DVI connector on the video card a DVI-I or DVI-D? If it's only a DVI-D (Digital only) the DVI to VGA adapter won't work. If it came with the DVI to VGA adapter one would assume it is DVI-I (integrated, digital and analog).

EDIT: I just tried a DVI to VGA adapter on my 220GT and it worked OK. This card has 1 VGA and 1 DVI conector. I'm running 2 VGA monitors as I type this. To be honest I was not expecting this to work.

Everytime i start a game my screen turns black....blinks....and restarts. So as a result i go to run and type in dxdiag and it comes up. I go to display so i can test DirectDraw and Direct3D. First i run DirectDraw. I see the black and white pyramid. Then i see a white bouncing box in a black square like it says. But now when your suppose to see the white bouncing box in fullscreen, my monitor goes black, blinks, and restarts. So i tried Direct3D...but same problem happens: black screen, blinks, restarts. I have all the latest drivers too...the only other thing i could do is upgrade to Service Pack 2 which i hear is very problematic when upgrading and that you should buy a windows xp disc with SP2 on it already.

any suggestions?!?!?!

Hi there, I am having the same problem as this person: Dxdiag doesn't recognize graphics card

I have updated my video drivers several times and updated the BIOS as someone in the thread has suggested. The problem is still persisting for me

Also, the video card has randomly worked twice since this problem started.

-The first time I tried updating the video drivers it was working but stopped once i restarted the computer again. I tried re-installing the video drivers many times but it never worked after that until today.

-Just today i set up my computer after having moved and it was working. When i left the computer the screen could not be "woken up" so i had to hold the power button to shut down. Since then it hasn't been working at all.

Here are some screenshots:

A:Dxdiag won't recognize Video Card

Side note - I have been tempted to buy a new video card as mine is pretty outdated anyhow. If i got a new card would this problem go away?

I really need help here. I've got a GeForce GTX 460 SSC installed, but when I use Dxdag the only information I got is the name of the video card. No drivers (version or anything). I've installed the lastest divers for my video card, so it shouldn't happened.

I don't know if it's related, but since I've noticed that, some games doesn't work correctly (problems with my Xbox 360 controler), the buttons respond awkwardly.

Anyone out there could help me? Thanx!

A:Dxdiag ONLY show the name of the video card

maybe directx has gotten a little screwy. Do you get the same problem when you launch the 64 bit version?

The first thing I would do is check the system files.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

barring any results from that I might suggest running the driver verifier.
That can be a bit of a process at times though.

Hi, I hope you can help me. I recently tried to run some games on my laptop and keep getting black screens (e.g. running Aion I get to login screen but it's black though I can see and move cursor and hear music).

When I run dxdiag it only shows the Intel HD graphics. But in my device manager I also see a NVIDIA Geforce 310M. I'm wondering if my laptop is set up right, but am not sure what to check?

I attach my dxdiag. When trying to update drivers the system says both are up to date. I did try a new driver from nvidia but it crashed my laptop and I had to restore the old ones back. In device manager the 310M driver is dated 10/02/2010 version: 8.16.11.8910.

Any assistance you can offer would be really appreciated and I'm happy to give more info if needed.

You seem to have Optimus (switchable) graphics.

I have no personal experience with them, but I imagine that you may need to get custom drivers directly from your laptop's manufacturer.

Are you running in Windows XP? You should install Microsoft DirectX 9.0C.You should try to uninstall WIndows XP drivers for NVIDIA GF2 and reinstall Nvidia Forceware 56.72 first.

If it works, then download the latest version of ForceWare. (v66.93 in press time) and uninstall the old one first. Install the new version and check if it works. If not, keep 56.72. It works fine, you should not have to keep up all version for ForceWare.

A:AMD HDMI output not plugged in,no sound card detected in dxdiag

The AMD HDMI is ONLY for HDMI audio and not for regular PC audio. Unless there is an HDMI cable plugged in, you will get the no cable plugged in notice.

Please post the motherboard manufacturer and model number. Without that I can't say what sound is on the PC's motherboard (for regular PC audio). But, if the PC audio is enabled in the BIOS and is Windows 7 compatible, Windows would install the generic, basic function, HD Audio Driver (Codec) and the PC sound would work. If the sound chip on the motherboard is not Windows 7 compatible (an old Win XP hardware) you will have to install a sound card to have PC audio.

The DX Diag, because the sound is not there, does not help.

A:DxDiag display and blank screen after video card driver install

I solved both issues. They had to do with use of dual monitors, so it was making my television the primary monitor and not my comp's monitor. Unplugged the television and reinstalled the driver, works perfectly now.

Hi,

Can anyone help? I've tried loads of times this morning to complete a process to provide system info for a job that I've applied for. My instructions are to go to start menu, select run and type dxdiag /t C:temp\dxdiag.txt into the box and then to locate the file dxdiag.txt in C :\temp, which I have to email to an IT dept. For some reason after I've done the 'run' thing, I'm unable to locate the file. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know that there is a way of getting system info on this site but I don't know if that will be acceptable.

Thanks in advance

Hi, I have a EVGA e-GeForce 7600GT 256 MB PCIe Video Card which supports the SLI technology allowing me to link up 2 or more graphics cards for greater performance. Now this card has DDR3 memory. I wanted to know if I can link it up with a DDR2 memory graphics card which also supports SLI. If I can, how will this difference affect performance?

A:Linking a DDR2 memory graphics card with DDR3 SLI graphics card?

Which card?? "A card with DDR3 memory", or "A thingy with a red switch on it" tell us just as much.
But if it's not another 7600 GT you're trying to SLi, just forget it, especially if you're going to buy the other card.

i have 2 ati radeon hd 4850's. right now they are connected with the crossfirex bridges and i'm only using one monitor and running crossfirex. i'm thinking of getting a second monitor for better gaming/seeing more stuff in flight sim X.

what i can't find is how to use 2 monitors with 2 cards. do i remove the crossfirex bridges and connect one monitor per card, or do i keep the crossfirex bridges and connect both monitors to the first card, still running crossfirex?

thanks!

A:dual graphics cards, dual monitors, ati crossfireX

I would just connect the 2 monitors to the one card and then extend the desktop using either desktop properties or Catalyst control center.

Hi for the last months ive been trying to fix a but Nvidia Random not card with restarts card graphics graphics AMD problem that ive been having with my computer about months ago I did a major pc upgrade where i replaced my motherboard processor ram heat sink power supply and case the only things I used from the original computer where HDD's SDD and my AMD radeon HD gb Now ive have the most strange issue where i can be watching a video off the HDD or surfing the web on youtube etc and not long after I Random restarts with AMD graphics card but not Nvidia graphics card start the activity my computer will turn off like if I had flicked the switch on the back of the power supply and then it boots back up again and will run fine until i start up an activity again and then it does exactly the same thing and reboots there is no BSOD shown nor Dumps Created Ive tried many things to sort this out and have RMA'ed the power supply and the motherboard the motherboard wasn't a direct replacement as they didn't sell my original board anymore which was a gigabyte ga-x -ud now i have an asus p x deluxe I have tried only plugging in one HDD SSD and then tried a spare HDD when that failed i have tried one ram stick at a time and still nothing now heres where it gets strange whilst trying to rule out differnt hardware i switched my AMD card out for a very old mb pcie x nvidia graphics and since then my computer has been running marvelously i can have it playing videos for hours days even although i havent properly tested for days and not a single problem at all The main difference between the cards is obiously one is nvidia and the other is AMD the nvidia one doesn't require any form of external power from the power supply where as the AMD one requires pin connectors and the AMD card is Massively more powerful when compared to the nvidia one the AMD one can run Practically all new titles on max with ease whereas the nividia card struggles to play gta sa on medium so i think ive narrowed it down to a driver error with amd and another driver with my new board a damaged AMD card a second dodgy power supply or something else that i haven't thought about or discovered yet Has anyone else had a similar problem or have any suggetions as im pretty much all out of ideas at this point and its starting to grind my gears that i cant use my expensive new computer as it should be Any help is appreciated Joe P S sorry about any spelling or punctuation mistakes made but Im very tired at the time of writing this and will be going to bed

The comparison you are making between GPU brands is pointless as a diagnostic. The MAIN difference I can see is that one card requires external power, and the other one does not. A proper diagnostic would be to test another GPU that requires external power.

I've heard that the specific PSU you bought will sometimes not power all the hardware it is supposed so.
People saying it could barely power a SSD, or even an extra fan.

My thoughts. Try using another PSU, try using a similar GPU. Use your old PSU and see if it still happens for starters.

My graphics display suddenly stopped for my computer. My PC is not even recognising my monitor, I tested my monitor with some other PC's and it is working properly. I though graphics card not working.??

But since my existing graphics card is gone and there is no on board graphics card on my PC I am not able to uninstall existing graphics card and install new one.

Could some one please suggest me what to do in this situation to see some thing in monitor so that in can start doing Uninstall/Installtions.?

Thank you very much for your replies in advance. I really apprecite it.

Thanks
Satish.

A:How to install graphics card when the existing graphics card in not working.

You could always stick the new one in and boot up in safe mode. Then proceed to uninstall all the remnant drivers. That *shouldn't* cause any problems, but it may be choppy when you boot up.(I've had this happen before, swapping a Riva TNT2 for a GF6600).

Hi all I no the title of this topic maybe hard to understand, basically im in the market to be upgrading from z77 to a newer z97 board, I have a few in mind that range from $180 all the way to $400, and when it comes down to it, it is the pci express lanes. I'm currently running dual 7970s and I noticed a lot of motherboards run 2x8x with dual video cards but some boards will run at 2x16x, so I was just seeing if anyone can tell me if theirs a big diff between running 2x8x and 2x16x with crossfired cards. thanks a bunch!

ASUS GT240 graphics card "ERROR CAN NOT FIND GRAPHICS CARD" Can anyone help me with this error message? I can hear the windows startup sound but it shows no display so i plugged the cable into the motherboad and an error box opend wich stated "ERROR CAN NOT FIND GRAPHICS CARD" with no additional information. I searched online and found that asus smart doctor can cause this and they recommend that you uninstall and reinstall the drivers to fix this problem but the pc is not picking up the graphics card to reinstall all the needed drivers. I also found people with the same problem and after they did a clean install of windows7/vista and all the drivers the error box still appeared. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

A:ASUS GT240 graphics card "ERROR CAN NOT FIND GRAPHICS CARD"

Do you have the PCIe set as first to initialize in the BIOS? Also, have you tried the card in another slot on the MoBo? Have you tried cleaning out the slot with canned air? Have you tried using a pencil eraser to gently clean the contacts in the GPU where it plugs into the PCIe?

And please, thoroughly fill out your System Specs by clicking on the tab under your post.

Hey, recently, I have came up with an idea of a fourth monitor, but my GPU (970) supports only three, which ones that I own. It has fourth one but I don't have the right cables for it for now.
I noticed that my motherboard has two open video ports, one being VGA which I needed. So, I tried just plugging it in and seeing what happens but it doesn't seem to work, I have tried looking for results around the internet and BIOS but they don't seem to work. The three monitors which I have plugged into my GPU, work perfectly fine, but, as I said, the motherboard's VGA port doesn't work. I have heard that such thing definitely is possible, but I cannot find out what I need to do.

Does anyone have an answer to this?

If my motherboard currently has an intigrated graphics card, but has a PCI-E slot, do I need to do anything special after inserteing my graphics card and installing the drivers, or should it just work right away?

A:How do you switch from an integrated graphics card to an "external" graphics card?

Most modern PCs will detect the new installation of the PCI graphics card and automatically disable the onboard graphics, so yes it should just work.

If for some reason you have problems, you may have to make a change in the bios, I cannot be more specific because each bios is different depending on manufacturer, and model of the motherboard.

Install the card, connect your monitor to it and boot up, when you get into Windows install the driver and reboot.

So, I had Windows Vista (C drive), and I created a 5GB NTFS (D drive) partition and installed Windows XP on it. I made sure I did not overwrite the Vista partition.
XP got done installing and I restarted my computer and I will automatically boot to XP and it doesn't give me the option to choose what OS I want.
All my files are still in the C drive.
I went to My Computer, Right clicked, properties>Advanced>Startup stuff and It only says I have one OS installed.
Please help me figure out why Vista magically disappeared, but all the files still remain.

A:Dual OS's Not showing up

First you need to install Win Xp before Windows Vista.

Few days ago, i got the same type of problem. I have Dual OS Win Xp Sp3 and Windows Vista. I got some problem with XP, so i boot my OS and Repair it. Same things happen to me, Dual Boot Screen not appear.

Then i boot Windows Vista disk and Press repair, then a Dos screen appear. I didn't do anything there just restart my computer then i got Dual boot screen.

Try this.

Just Boot your Vista DVD and Press Repair, then Restart your Computer.

I hope this help you.

A:Graphics card doesn't post any graphics to my monitor, computer boots up fine

Its usually just the graphics cards, they do fail especially if they overheat - then video card fan not speeding up might have been the problem - most are dynamic and should actually speed up under load. Depending on the manufacturer of your 8800GTX you might be able to get it replaced under warranty if they have a 3 year or greater warranty.
