New Memory Issues

Q: New Memory Issues

I wanna make sure I done all steps before sending these 2 new sticks of memory back to newegg because there defective.

2 new sticks match the old stick. G.Skill, F1-3200PHU2-2GBNS, DDR-400, CL2.5-3-3-6 2.5 ~ 2.75v, PC3200 1Gx2

The 2 old sticks works in all 4 memory slots. New memory sticks does not.

When the PC completely boots up I get lines on the monitor and freezes PC up after done booting everything. I reboot PC then get check sum error on the black boot up screen with F1 to continue or F2 enter setup.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Memory issues

Sounds like a memory leak or something is hijacking your ram. Screenshot the "Processes" tab. That will give you the culprit of what process is using the ram. Unfortunately, according to Microsoft, you can't uninstall that update.

I'm having a serious problem with my new computer it slows down then locks up. I get a message from windows that the system is low on memory. I've tried evertything ran the HP Pc Doctor diagnostic, ran chkdks Had Norton 2010 to optomize still no joy. I've ran the resorce Manager it show all physical either allocated or in use. In short they all show nothing wrong with the HDD or the memory. I've closed all programs in my start menu and it still occurs

A:Memory Issues

As a followup I found this when using the Task Manager The file is in c:/windows/systems32 6.0.6002.18005. Permission Read&Execute, Read Write. There is also a second services file Microsoft Common Console Document. Details lists as services.msc size 90.5KB Read & Execute Read
At the moment the system shows services.exe as using CPU 16 memory 4,585976K services and Controller. There has to be something wrong here It's just the system controller, how can it require that much memory?

I have a MSI K9VGM-V motherboard with a 512MB stick of Comstar DDR II PC2 5300 memory. I went to add an additional 1GB stick of Comstar DDR II PC2 5300 memory and now the PC will not perform POST. If I take out the 512MB stick the computer boots up fine. I've tried mix matching every senerio and I can not get this PC to perform POST with both sticks of RAM in?? I could see this happen if it was RAM made from two different manufactures but the RAM is identical except for the size difference. Any ideas what could be causing this?

well I just went through this a few months back with my MSI mb, for 1 thing you can not mix and match memory ie having 1 512 and 1 1gig, I was having problems with matched sticks from Crucial buying the ram that their site said was compatible and I was still having issues, after 2 rmas I finanlly got 2 2 gig sticks to work. If I were you I would go to Crucial plug in your make/model and get what they say to buy, dump the Comstar stuff

I picked my laptop to clean, I sat it down to hard, then I heard a short grinding noise, the screen froze and then I turned it off. After rebooting, it came on fine. When I would try to load anything it was very slow. I logged into Guild wars and it gave me a message that I needed at least 2 gb of memory to run the game and only 1.48gb was usable. My system is running great; fast, no problems. Only thing is, I don't think
I'm getting everything out of it that I could be. Running at idle, my physical
memory is at consistent levels between 1.12gb-1.30gb. I have run Avast, AVG,
MalwareBytes, Spybot, AdAware checks, etc. and I get nothing. So, I am
wondering if anyone here may know what is causing this large usage of
memory. Thank you for reading.

A:Memory Issues

Hi, seems to be a hangover from earlier windows versions, "windows will work better if I have free memory" actually memory not being used is a resource wasted. You have 60 processes low CPU utilization and efficient memory utilization. As you say your system is running well. In other words all is well.

Hi all, i currently own a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz, running in a gigabyte GA-8i848 PM mobo, This is a motherboard taken from a fujitsu Siemens Scaleo P Computer. The problem i face is the motherboard has 2 DDR ram slots which can take DDR 266, 333 and 400. i currently have two brand new sticks of corsair value select ram @ 400 MHz 2 x 512. but if i put both sticks in at once totaling 1 GB of memory, the computer randomly restarts, crashes and switches off by itself, where as with just one stick at a time, the computer works fine with either stick of ram in either slot, it just wont take both at the same time i know the ram isn't dodged because it works fine in my friends PC, also this motherboard isn't on the gigabyte website only two others with similar names. I would be thankful for any ideas you may have as to how to solve the issue.

Hello,

I have few questions related to XP Memory

first when i click the taskmanager, in the processes tab I see all the processes running and how much memory they use. If I sum up all the processes together, it will be like 150 MB, but in the performancetab, I see that my PC is using more than 300MB. what is using the extra 150mb if not those proceses?

second if I have 2 gb ram available, and my PC uses 500 of it, will my PC speed up if I get my pc to 300mb, or the speed does not matter until I have free ram available?

thanks for advice,

cheers,
patbox

A:XP Memory Issues

I know my onboard ATI video robs 128MB of RAM for its own use. If I installed a video card with its own built in memory, I would get the 128 meg back. Maybe it's your video card. Don't expect an exact reading on memory usage either. There may be some other services running that you can not see in Task Manager too.You should get process Explorer.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb896653.aspx.It gives you a lot more information. Set its preferences to hijack Task Manager, so it takes its place. Also from the same site, get AutoRuns. You can turn processes on and off and decide what's necessary to tune your system. That's the best way to keep a lean machine. With both programs, you can click on any process and Google it before you decide what it is and what to do with it.Be careful.

Hi I've had several crashes yesterday and today and I'm a little stumped by them It started while I was playing WoW bluescreen out of nowhere No file specifically mentioned but the error was MEMORY MANAGEMENT first part of the error code was x a Shrugged it off a one off thing's not too bad loaded WoW back up after mins WoW crashed The instruction at Memory Issues? x fc referenced memory at xffffffff The memory could not be read Now two crashes Memory Issues? in quick succession both talking about memory got me a little worried downloaded memtest and gave that a run Completed one pass fine wanted to play some more games and the computer was stable the rest of the evening Now today I was playing WoW and it crashed yet again this time I screenshotted it Once again mentioning memory issue And finally a couple of hours later playing TF this time I had another bluescreen this time it said the error was with dxgmms sys Googling that particular file led me to these forums which is why I'm posting here now I had the idea to give memtest a proper long run while I was posting this on my laptop as that'll probably take a few hours to get a good number of passes in just to confirm its not a RAM issue but of course that means I can't actually get hold of the minidumps windows made with the bluescreens I'll post those once the memory's checked out XD With all the memory errors getting mentiond I thought that the issue would be with the ram but so far it seems to pass memtest perfectly so I'm a little stumped by what the problem could be With the dxgmms sys bluescreen that's made me consider that it could be a problem with the ram on the graphics card I'm not sure if there's programs to test that ram like with memtest but a few weeks ago I was running dmark Vantage and Heaven graphics benchmarks with no errors as well So any ideas without the minidumps Edit Thread answered itself x Now what Do I have to try the ram sticks at a time to find the faulty one Or is there a way from reading through all that junk to see which one is the dead stick Edit Right I've removed all but the th stick Memory Issues? given the errors were happening at Mb but its run three passes of memtest without any errors now

A:Memory Issues?

Looks like you've zeroed in on the problem.

Put one stick in at a time and run memtest on each to find which stick, or sticks, is bad. Then replace it (or them).

Well it allows up to 8Gig Specs here: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=397&l4=0&model=1459&modelmenu=2

So it must be the Ram, or the slots you are putting them into
I'd say the Ram

My laptop can only see 2944MB OF 3072MB Ram.

I THOUGHT the BIOS combines Main memory with my GPU Memory (2944+128MB= 3072MB.) But if i take out 1GB the BIOS Reads 2048. It wont combine my GPU.

Speckies:
Intel Core 2 Duo T5500
3GB DDR2 667MHz
Intel I945PM CHipset
ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1450 128MB

I USED System Information for Windows and the Memory says 4096MB MAX.

Please help, I know that the I945 Chipset Revision 3 can support 4GB

A:Memory Issues

32 bit Windows also reserves some of the system memory addresses below 4 gB for hardware devices.
As such, this forces the address for some of the 4gB of RAM to reside above the 4 gB limit.

Please run a DXDIAG report with the 3 gB of RAM and another with the 2 gB of RAM so we can see what's going on here.

To do this, go to Start and type in "dxdiag" (without the quotes) and press Enter
In the DXDIAG window, click on the "Save all information" button at the bottom.
Do this for both the 3gB and 2gB of RAM, then zip them up and upload them with your next post.

@_person_, welcome to the forum. Here is what you need to do.  Right click on Start in the lower left Taskbar / select File Explorer / right click This PC / select Properties / select Advanced system settings / select Settings under Performance / select Advanced / select Change under Virtual memory / place a check in "Automatically manage paging file for all drives.  This will allow Windows to adust the Virtual memory when it needs more. Virtual memory is a memory management technique that is implemented using both hardware and software. It maps memory addresses used by a program, called virtual addresses, into physical addresses in computer memory. Main storage as seen by a process or task appears as a contiguous address space or collection of contiguous segments. If there is a check in the box, let me know.  You will have to increase Virtual Memory.

Hi all First time posting so bare with me issues memory I have an XP Pro system that works really well The only memory issues anoyance that I have with it is When you go WIN quot E quot and see the main directories it shows available space memory issues left on your various drives Mine is partition into drives D amp E are ok with their space available On the C drive which contains XP I notice that the remaining space slowly goes down for a couple of weeks then quot suddenly quot it goes back and I have an extra Gig of memory available My question is Is there any way that memory issues I can physically quot force quot Windows to release that space as My HD is starting to get to only Left on C and I do not want to try and repartition having never done it other than on the initial build of this system Not a specialist as all of you are but any info would be greatly appreciated Ray

Hello Drklazarus, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Double check to make sure that each pair are in the same color RAM slots. The timing may be different with the new sticks than the older ones even though they are the same type, so mixing them in the same colored slots may cause issues.

Next, reset the BIOS back to defaults. On some older motherboards, you may need to update the BIOS to the latest version to resolve this issue as well.

If you are still having issues, then you might run Memtest86 to test and see if you may have bad memory.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I'm having issues regarding memory on my wife's PC. I installed new memory chips totalling 512MB but the display is still slow "painting" the screen and apps still run slow. The box is a Compaq Presario AMD-K6 3D processor running Win2k. Any programs out there that can help me see if I have the system configured right to make the best use of all this memory? Maybe some diags can help diagnose the problem. Any help is appreciated

Hi,

I recently re-installed Windows 7 and would like to re-install Sony Vegas Pro 12. I did so and after editing some videos for around 5 minutes, I received a pop-up warning: Close programs to prevent information loss: Sony Vegas.

I don't understand how having 8GB of RAM on an i7 2600k on a hard drive with 200GB of space could have any problem running this program. To add on, it was the only program running. I checked to make sure. I've rebooted, ran memory diagnostics, tried changing the virtual memory allocated to each drive, yet still nothing. I get the same error every time after just 5 minutes of running this program.

Does anybody have any idea why this is happening?

I don't know what exactly you're looking for in the area of suggestions. You either need to close some programs or look into purchasing some more ram. Without knowing what programs are running, or how much ram you have there is not much we can do.

Hi,

I have a query about my PC memory. I have 500 mb memory installed yet my pc only recognises 256mb. How can I rectify this?

Also i was considering upgrading my memory to 1gb so i can run a game more smoothly. Do you suggest i have 1gb stick in one slot or two 500 mb sticks? I have heard that a 1gb stick is better... true/false?

Finally if i do install this extra memory, how do i know which one to get e.g SD ram or DDR, and what other installation issues do i need to consider before i go ahead and buy it?

I have installed memory before but it was a while ago. I am not that confident on the technical hardware side of things!

Thanks for your suggestions...

A:Memory issues

I would suggest you go to:

http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Download the RAM diagnostic tool from there and run it to see if you have a bad memory module. If it runs without errors then you should check to see that the module is inserted properly and completely. If that doesn't fix it, you can check to see if BIOS is recognizing the memory or not.

Check your mainboard manual or manufacturers web site to get the correct memory for your specific board. I personally run two 512 M sticks of memory and my system benchmarks extremely fast.

Installing memory is a 5 minute process. Just remember to shut your system down and unplug it and before you touch the memory or mainboard touch something grounded to discharge any static charge. You can also wear a light medical rubber glove to be extra safe.

Hi
I have about 1 GB of memory and I have made no recent system changes. Something I've noticed lately is that my available memory has ben dropping drastically. When this happens, task manager shows that porcesses that normally take up a small amount of memory are now taking up about 10 times as much in KB. Something else that's odd is that I have will sometimes have three instances of the process CLI.exe running, each taking up a load of memory. I run System Mechanic 6's memory optimization over and over to get back the memory, but after this is all done the graph shows my memory availability starting to decline again. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this or what I can do to find out?
Thanks.

I am wdering if someone here can help. I just got Battlefield 3 and I am having major memory issues with it. I have 8gb of memory and yet when I play the game it will hog memory until it locks up the system. I just watched it use all but 500mb of memory! And once I crashed the game out it would not release the memory either I was still only at 2gb of 8 free.

I don't get this at all the game is 32bit and that should mean it is limited to 4gb of memory correct? Or maybe it uses memory and then doesn't release it and uses more? This is driving me insane and I can't play the game like this.

Is there a way to limit the amount the game can access or a program to scrub the memory that works in 8?

A:BF3 Memory Issues

Hi,

Sounds to me like there is a system issue. You're welcome to type msinfo32 in the start menu, press enter and then file | save on the opened screen. Zip the file and attach here. I'll have a look.

And no, the operating system is 64 bit and that's what gives your pc the ability to access more than the ~ 4GB ram. It's not program dependent, but rather, OS (and hardware) dependent.

Secondly, Im new here and im from Holland so excuse me for my bad english xD

2 weeks ago I bought some new parts for my computer:
- Intel Core i7-950
- ASRock X58 Extrem3 mobo
- OCZ 2x2GB DDR1066
- GeForce GTX 460 from Gigabyte (overclocked)
- Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Installation all went well but as soon as i started to do things on my computer, like installing programs, doing games, surfing on the web etc., i got many BSODs.
Didn't write it down what the BSOD's were so dont know excactly what kind it were but some of them had to do with Memory_Management.

After 3 days and around 30 BSODs (around 5 different BSODs) i was tired of it and decided to do a complete reinstall (formatted everything etc.)

Newly installed windows 7 and immediatly i ran all the updates and I installed all of the drivers using DriverMax.

Now im running it for about a week and still had some BSODs but waaaaayyy les then before.

BSOD's i do have some info from:
- 0x1a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (actually 0x0000001a but i think youll get it this way xD)
- 0x24 (0x00000000001904FB, 0xFFFFF88008A22008, 0xFFFFF88008A21870, 0xFFFFF80002E5CCED)
- 0x3B (0x00000000C0000005, 0xFFFFF960002EFEE7, 0xFFFFF8800D1E4???, 0x0000000000000000) win32k.sys - Address FFFFF960002EFEE7 base at FFFFF960000A0000, Date ?????4c1c483f
- 0x19 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFF900C2C5B650, ??????)

Thats all the info about the BSODs I have. By the "?" I dont know what there used to be.

I read on this forum that i should use Memtest86+ so I did.

I first tested both sticks in my mobo (on slot A1 and B1):
After 8 passes i had a total of 21 errors, mostly on pass 7 in the 7th test
Attachment 99996

Then I put stick #1 in slot A1:
Got errors on pass 1 in test 7+8 so i stopped it and put stick #2 in slot A1:
Got errors on pass 0 in test 4+7 so i stopped it again.

1 Stick in slot A2, B2 or C2 equals No boot (that also stands in the mobo manual)

Well got on and on with testing the sticks seperately in different slots but everytime got a few errors after pass 1 so i stopped them to test further.

Finally i put Stick #1 in slot B1 and stick #2 in slot C1:
Got 11 errors after 4 passes in test 7 & 8
Attachment 99997

I saw on the internet that some people have around 5000 errors but i dont get more then 25 so
Do i have bad memory or what is the problem?

I noticed in my bios that the current CAS settings are 8-8-8-18 but on the manufactor page of my OCZ memory says: 7-7-7-21.
Attachment 99998Attachment 99999
Maybe there is something wrong with that?

I also often get the on screen error that says:
The Memory Could Not Be Read
Then i have to restart my pc before i can go on.

My story is getting very long now and almost unreadable so ill start ending it now xD

I have followed the BSOD Posting Instructions so the .rar is also attached!
Note: I recently cleaned my pc with Ccleaner so I dont know if there is anything in the dump files but please let me know!

Basic System Information:
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64
- the original installed OS on the system? Yes
- an OEM or full retail version? Full Retail
- What is the age of system (hardware)? 2 weeks
- What is the age of OS installation? 2 weeks

Hardware info:
- Intel? Core? i7-950 Processor (8M Cache, 3.06 GHz, 4.80 GT/s Intel? QPI)
- ASRock X58 Extreme3
- OCZ DDR3 PC3-8500 Gold Edition
- Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 1GB

Maybe there are some other reasons why my pc doesnt work like i want it so please help me!
Hope you guys understand my story and can help me!

I've been having problems getting my USB stick to boot my custom MDT install.  I get the following error via windows boot manager:
Status: 0xc0000017
Info: There isn't enough memory available to create a ramdisk device

I have Custom Window 7 Pro Wim file image that I prepared in hyper-v and captured at maximum compression with a size of 14GB.  There are about a dozen different Dell Driver CAB files injected that make the litetouch.iso file about between
20-30GB .  I set the scratch size to 128 as I read this could cause issues, and I even tried 512 but I am still getting this error.
Any ideas?

A:Memory issues on a DZ77GA-70K

All the specs match. They should work.
You have tested the slots with other RAM and they test good. So I guess the only explanation is that they are both bad sticks. Unusual for 2 sticks to be bad, but not unheard of.

The following page is the QVL for that Intel board. I don't see any Patriot Memory on that list. That doesn't mean they are not compatible, just not tested by Intel.

http://www.intel.com/support/motherb.../CS-033219.htm

The note about SPD is important. But I can't imagine any new RAM not meeting that spec.

A:Memory upgrade issues

Maybe your motherboard needs a BIOS update in order to recognize more memory? If the manual says 256, then that's probably it, but you may be able to flash the BIOS to get it to recognize more.

I have Windows XP and in the last month or so, maybe 2-3 months, I've gotten a windows message that says my virtual memory is very low and that windows is working to repair (or whatever it says there) and that some applications may not have all the information loaded (or something like that). The message appears, oh maybe every other day? I've done a search in the help and support area of my computer but I can't figure out how to solve this.

any help would be greatly appreciated. hopefully this is enough information, if not, ask away please.

thanks!

Right click "My Computer select properties, then "Advanced then in performance settings, then performance then again advanced then click change. Post the what the setting are and also the amount of installed ram on your system. It depending on your settings an ram can be adjusted for better performance, you may need to add ram to the system hard to tell until your next post. I went for quite some time with 1 Gig of ram but as I added stuff I had to add another Gig, not only did that do away with the virtual memory problem but inreased system greatly.

I own a piece of crap Acer Aspire X AXC-603G-UW30 and I made the mistake of messing with the Virtual Memory settings in the Systems Tab in Control Panel. I can't figure out how to get it back to normal.I'm suppose to have 4GB of ram and now I'm lucky to get 1GB. I tried rebooting Windows 8 back and nothing.Tried the chatroom and got disconnected after 3 minutes. Tried calling and after 20minutes of listening to that garbage elevator music i had enough. This is the crap I'm dealing with

Ok I have a complex question yet I notice over Memory 2 of the Issues Part the period of years that this problem has cost me many failed writes wasted disks much loss of time and the lack of drive space due to the fact I cannot write files Here s the details I have some LARGE files around gig or more from drive images to other stuff When my Windows crashes I erase my main gig hard drive which ONLY holds programs and windows xp itself and I start from scratch I have other hard drives gig gig and gig which the last are partitioned in half Now this might be part of the case but what I notice is this I save the large files on these backup drives and it seems like off and on when I Part 2 of the Memory Issues have re-installed Windows that the files all of a sudden become read only and that they don t want to burn on my x external DvD burner Now on these drives all BUT my system drive I have the system restore feature turned off but this doesn t seem to help I have tried various burning programs and some work for a while then don t work at all While others don t see the large files inside the folders for their true size and often burn me a crap non working folder that is MUCH smaller and corrupt many times the burners won t simply burn or lock up during the burn Now my drive s firmware see my profile for it s type and specs is full up to date and it seems to burn fine when I start with a fresh windows install Oddly though certain files it won t touch and I am not sure why windows changes these to read only This may be a duel question but it leads to one thing my burner won t work my files seem locked somehow and it seems like off and on I cannot even erase programs I installed from desktop Is there something I am doing wrong I use a password to log in the computer even from screen saver mode and I selected to make my profile with files private under users This is an ongoing problem and it s one of but it always causes a problem p s I have also turned off the antivirus programs while burning and I have as much as possibly little running in the right corner which I have them showing as well I also run Spybot -SD and using Task Manager I see what s running while I am doing nothing I am cautious and even somewhat paranoid on what I use I am running Anti-Vir antivirus program and besides that not much else is on there I am at my whit s end LOL any ideas guys ADDED MINUTES LATER Err one thing to note I am using the right DvD speed disks x and I set the burning program to x or x and the program I am using to burn at the moment is called Free Easy Burner v found here http www koyotesoft com indexEn html I also notice that lately my computer about every days just doesn t see a hard drive or two while the computer is on I get some weird write error then the drives cease to show up in the My Computer listing When I restart my computer they re-appear and everything seems fine sighs ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- nbsp

I bought 2 1gb ddr 400 pc3200 and my computer will power on but not boot and no video when installed but will work in another one but only says it has 2 512mb in bios. The one that won't boot which boots fine with 512mb pc2100 is a custom built with intel p4 478 board model D865GBF with 4 slots which will hold 4 1gb ddr pc2100, pc2700 and pc3200 and the other is an HP Pavilion 734n Athlon XP 2.0 Ghz which works fine but instead of having 2gb memory it says 1gb total under my computer properties and 2 512mb in bios. I bought the memory on ebay and says backwards compatible with pc2100 and pc2700. I have updated the bios in the hp with no success. Both computers have windows xp. The intel board has p4 2.66ghz.

That's "buying a pig in a poke" and not how you buy ram. Ram is matched by density, ecc factor, and cas latency. If you don't know what that is all about, you need to go to ram mfgr sites that have configurators like www.crucial, corsair or kingston.com

A:Spyware & Memory Issues

Hey dbai18 and welcome back!

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download Index.dat Suite to clean out all the temp folders. Do not run it yet.

Download and install Spybot S&D. Run Spybot and click on the Search for Updates button. Install any updates if they are available. Next click on the Check for Problems button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):

C:\Program Files\Windows TaskAd\WinSched.exe
C:\Program Files\Windows TaskAd\WinTaskAd.exe
C:\Program Files\Spyware Stormer\SpywareStormer.exe

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

Viewpoint
Windows TaskAd
Search(something...maybe Relevancy)

Spyware Stormer <<<it?s rogueware and we highly recommend that you uninstall it. Rogue/Suspect means that these products are of unknown, questionable, or dubious value as anti-spyware protection.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

I think the problem might be mixing the ecc RAM with non-ecc RAM. Sometimes you can mix them but sometimes it can cause problems.

Hello everyone,
I need some serious help; I've had some issues for the past month or so, I've had a fairly large memory leak with something in my system. I can't figure out what is causing this, be it a program or a driver.
Is there a way to see what is causing this mass memory leak? I've tried 'System Explorer' and 'RAMMap'. But these do nothing more than assertain the memory leak has no source.

Did you check your ram? Try checking it with MemTest86

Greetings to all.

I have 4 gb memory installed on my desktop. According to the system properties, it is showing 3.23 gb.

Although I seem to have more than adequate memory, I often run into memory issues. In most cases, I have to reboot the desktop once every day or once every two days.

This desktop is an upgrade for me from the previous one which had only 2 gigs of memory which I used to reboot once once in two-three weeks or longer. I do have the terrible habit of having 12-15 applications open at a time. This is how it used to be even before with 2 gigs of memory.

Rebooting every day is a big nuisance for me. How do I manage my memory better? I downloaded Freeram xp pro hoping that would help, but i still dont see a big difference. Also this app shows my only 2 gb installed.

Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated

Thanks!
Arvind.

First of all thanks for taking your time to read this A week ago i transferred my HDD with the Windows installation along with GB of RAM and the PSU to a completely new motherboard Since my download rate is only kb ps i didn't want to go through the trouble on Issues Memory new Setup of re-downloading my whole library of games movies and music of over GB So i installed all the drivers for my new graphics card and the drivers for the motherboard and the CPU after rebooting on the new system Except for the slow booting everything was fine at first Games like Crysis Tomb Raider Far Cry Metro Redux and Final Fantasy ran on highest settings with more than fps While playing Far Cry days ago i noticed weird hick-ups and stutters up to the point where it became unplayable and a window popped up asking me about memory leaks When i rebooted my System everything was fine again Today Final Fantasy crashed twice a window saying that the game closed in an unusual way I noticed Memory Issues on new Setup that the Games start to slow down when my computer has not been rebooted Memory Issues on new Setup in days People have told me to re-install Windows to have a completely clean set up to make everything run smooth and to shorten the booting times but i was hoping to avoid this due to my slow download rate Does anyone know what is causing the memory leak or the system slow-down I dont know exactly what it is so please don't blame me for my speculations Edit System Specs Motherboard MSi Gaming CPU AMD FX GPU Sapphire R Dual-X RAM GB PSU Vengeance W Running on Windows Home Premium bit

I don't know if this issue was previously answered, but i need help with my system performance. I have a HP xw-8000 workstation Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2 (5.1 - 2600) Cpu : 2-Intel Pentium 4, 2392MHz, 512KB (41% Load) Ram: Usage: 302/2048MB (14.75%) Graphic Card : NVIDIA Quadro NVS Screen 1024x768 32bit 60Hz .
The problem i am experiencing is that my pc lags when opening progs , or even when simply opening anything. its like it pauses for around 15 to 20 secs (sometimes longer) before eventually opening or executing the task. i have adjusted the virtual mem settings to various ones, to no avail. Could someone give me advice on how to optimize my system so that i can eliminate the lag/pause and achieve the most performance.
Thank you

Hello all, just wanted to say a quick thanks to anyone that reads this...now the problem...

I dug out my old 600e ibm thinkpad so that I can type papers and surf the web when im away from my desk pc. The problem is though, I am having major issues with memory upgrades...

When I boot up my 600e it tells me I have 32 megs ram. I assumed the 32 megs were from the chip that was installed. After some research it turns out its the internal memory , 32 megs.

I recently bough a 128 chip, low density, yes its the right one, and my thinkpad does not recognize it, NOR the old 32 simm chip that was installed. Any help?? This is drving me nuts I just want to upgrade this thing!! help and thanks!

I have tried to find the issue but no luck. I am pretty sure that these issues came when i installed windows 8.1. I hope you have some tips.
Thanks

A:Windows 8.1 memory issues

Moved to Windows 8 support

The issue is in the non-paged pool of 2.8 GB which is many times a reasonable value. Most likely caused by a device driver, possible malware. Not likely a process.

Hi,

Just recently started using Windows 8 PRo.....I have a couple of usb keys that can no longer be used by Windows 8, however they work fine in a Windows 7 laptop.

They are detected in disk management, but are marked as unknown, I have tried to add them manually, but I get a Device Not Ready error....This is happening on a few different keys but not all of them.

Any suggestions folks?

Hey all, I'm new and was wondering if anyone would be able to lend a hand.

I recently bought 2 extra sticks of 512mb DDR RAM to upgrade my machine from 1gb to 2gb. My mobo is a K7 Triton, and I've been running my existing 2 sticks in dual enabled for a while now without problems.

I'm having some trouble adding the new RAM however - both pairs work fine on their own, but when all 4 sticks are present, the memory count at post only counts up to 1GB. If I have 3 sticks in, the count reaches 1.5gb, but the machine then becomes unstable (lots of crashes/memory errors).

I tried to match the sticks as closely as possible (all 4 are PC3200, CL3), so I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas other than pairing a brand new set of 1gb sticks?

Thanks a lot,

Andy

A:Memory Upgrade Issues

Are all of the sticks made by the same manufacturer?

If not, it could be that the two manufacturer's products are incompatible running together.

That would be your BIOS telling you have a problem. If you know which BIOS you have go to this site for the 4 beeps and what it means. If you don't know what BIOS you have scroll down to the bottom of the page and use the BIOS Wizard. http://www.pchell.com/hardware/beepcodes.shtmlThat would be your BIOS telling you have a problem. Hi,

This question I'm sure has been asked before but I just installed an extra 2GB (2x1GB) of memory in my system for a total of 3GB. My original total was 1GB (2x512mb). After installing the extra memory I checked my BIOS which indicated that there was a total of 3072mb but when I went to CONTROL PANEL and then SYSTEM it states that there is only 2.66GB of RAM. Is this normal? Or is there a problem? Computer does run faster but just worried about the missing 1GB of memory.

Thanks,
Gary

Generally temp folders contain just that... temporary files. They are usually not critical to the system. If the problem is user related, why not make another account and delete the one with the problem?

Hi i have 6 memory slots on a rampage III gene motherboard 3 red 3 black i purchase 2x8gb same memory spec as there was 3x2gb already on board. When i add the 2 x8gb it does not read it and i loose a 2gb stick system showing 4gb total. When i install 2x8gb on there own its fine it shows 8GB usable then i add the 3x2gb together or one by one and it will not read the memory and reduces the 8GB to 6GB strange any one had this issue before and where am i going wrong?

A:Rampage and memory issues

By your assigned problem my assumption is that this is an Asus motherboard.

If you have 6 memory slots, this means it is running in triple channel mode which means it wants three memory channels to match. Hence the 3 black and 3 red.

As this is part of there ROG Overclocking boards they can many times be very picky on detecting RAM and being able to utilize it proper.
I can only say I have only heard of 1 person ever get two different sets of RAM to work on those motherboards.
My recommendation would be to run Sell the 3 sticks of 2GB and buy another 4GB stick of the exact same you have and run them togather

Just upgraded the bios on this board from F11 to F19.

With F11 bios I was able to run 2 1gb sticks of Corsair Value Select DDR400 (PC3200)
ram if I boosted the DDR voltage to 2.6v. I've set the new bios to 2.7v and still can't get it to post with 2gb installed.

Now with the new F19 bios the system won't post with 2gb installed. Gives me a DRAM error post code (one long beep repeating).

If I reduce the memory to just one stick...1gb. System boots and runs.

Any ideas? Don't know what to do with memory timings as this is a new game for me.

Hi all new to this forum so will start by saying a big hello Ok so i've been plagued with errors on my machine now for quite some time and finally sick to death of the BSODs and memory video issues Recently i've been having problems playing mainly Bad company where suddenly i'm about to shoot someone and / need Memory Video help! BSODs Issues, and end up instead being given a nice x B or x BE error message Those are just two of BSODs and Memory / Video Issues, need help! the errors i've encountered as it differs randomly but those seem to be the most common Also the usual suspect linked to these BSODs is a certain atikmd sys file which is to BSODs and Memory / Video Issues, need help! do with the catalyst control centre im aware of reinstalling the display driver has not fixed this as the BSOD still appears but with a file called aswsnx sys no results on google Not only bad company but other games have started giving the BSOD i e age of empires online and I can't quite put my finger on WHY this is happening Alongside this very annoying series of BSODs which come and go as they please i'm having issues with my ram where my PC won't recognise all GB and list GB or GB as availble system memory instead To try and get around this i've removed one of the modules but that hasn't explained why a module is potentially failing is it a faulty MoBo My specs are Windows bit Gigabyte X A-UD R i GHz GB OCZ Reaper RAM ATi HD GB vapor X edition I've also attached the crash dumps for your information Many thanks

Ok so, i've been plagued with errors on my machine now for quite some time and finally sick to death of the BSODs and memory / video issues.

Recently i've been having problems playing mainly Bad company 2, where suddenly i'm about to shoot someone and end up instead being given a nice 0x03B or 0x0BE error message. Those are just two of the errors i've encountered as it differs randomly but those seem to be the most common. Also the usual suspect linked to these BSODs is a certain atikmd.sys file (which is to do with the catalyst control centre im aware of), reinstalling the display driver has not fixed this as the BSOD still appears but with a file called aswsnx.sys?? (no results on google)

Not only bad company 2 but other games have started giving the BSOD, i.e. age of empires online and I can't quite put my finger on WHY this is happening.

Alongside this very annoying series of BSODs (which come and go as they please) i'm having issues with my ram where my PC won't recognise all 6GB and list 4GB or 2GB as availble system memory instead! To try and get around this i've removed one of the modules, but that hasn't explained why a module is potentially failing... is it a faulty MoBo?

My specs are:

Windows 7 64bit
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
4GB OCZ Reaper RAM
ATi HD 5850 2GB vapor X edition

I've also attached the crash dumps for your information.

Many thanks!

Easy and straight forward. Your Avast. remove and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials and the win 7 firewall.

New dell computer, new scanner. When I scan images at 300x300dpi, no problems. WHen I attempt to scan images at 1200x1200 dpi or 2400x2400 dpi, computer freezes, photoshop freezes. Must reboot machine. Once received an error message that computer was low on virtual memory.

Two questions:
1. Whats the appropriate size for virtual memory?
2. How do I prevent computer from freezing amidst scanning?

THanks in advance.

A:New Scanner - Virtual Memory Issues

You really shouldn’t be scanning photos at a higher resolution than 300PPI: http://www.scantips.com/basics08.html Go to the next page where he runs tests with a photo taken with a fixed focal length Nikon on a tripod and can’t get more detail over 300 PPI. You can scan negatives at 1200PPI but they are small and generate only about a 15Mb file. Scanning a 4 X 6 photo at 1200PPI results in a file around 350 Mb. Scanners seem to take 1.5X to 2X the size of the resulting file in either RAM or virtual memory so you are talking about half a gig just to run the scan, which is not really necessary. Oput at 1200PPI larger than 4 X 6 results in absurd file sizes and scan times.

If you are using Win9x/ME and running out of virtual memory it is likely that you have completely run out of space on your C drive. Some misguided people recommend setting both a minimum and maximum swap file size, but you should NEVER designate a max.

With XP the computer defaults to about 1.5 times the RAM which is usually plenty for a decent computer. You shouldn’t run XP with less than 256Mb RAM and 512 is preferable. Use a sensible resolution with the scanner and if you have no more virtual memory problems leave it alone. You should normally have enough RAM that you never use virtual memory. XP always uses a little VM regardless of RAM but in the neighborhood of 15Mb.

After my last repeated episodes of physical memory dump issues, I deleted Zone Alarm and haven't had any trouble. I am having trouble again.

I am attaching the last mini dump file for anyone who can look at it and help. I am attaching it as a zip file, I hope that is the right way.

Thanks so much.

Nancy

Hi there I have issues with my PC seeming quite sluggish at times and sometimes freezing altogether for a few seconds I Virtual Issues with Pagefile.sys Memory / have had MS look at this and they cannot seem to find any issues My main question is about VM pagefile sys Looking at my system Win puts a Gb pagefile on C drive SSD and a further Gb pagefile on d drive HDD To me this seems excessive anyway However when you add to the mix that I have Gb RAM then I feel that there is no good reason for such large pagefiles I have recently Issues with Pagefile.sys / Virtual Memory reverted to Windows Managed Issues with Pagefile.sys / Virtual Memory swap files as this was recommended by MS support in my last call However I do question this Obviously RAM is massively more responsive than any disc based cache even SSD and so I wonder if this is causing any issues My machine is an Alienware Area R with a Samsung GB boot SSD PM and a Western Digital Tb Data drive x Nvidia GTX graphics cards Gb RAM etc OS is Windows Home Bit clean install Running latest drivers and BIOS and Issues with Pagefile.sys / Virtual Memory both Symantec and Microsoft have recently today confirmed that the machine is virus free Far too much software installed to even begin to list Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers

A:Issues with Pagefile.sys / Virtual Memory

Can you help me with the following details:

1) Is the PC freezing randomly
2) Any specific access which triggers the sluggish performance
3) What all applications you have installed (games / heavy apps)

Hi Guys,

I wondered if someone would be able to help me with an issue which is driving me crazy today, I'm running Win 7 64 bit Ent with 8gb of RAM.

I've got an issue where the system is caching around 5gb of that Ram, and no matter what I do I can't seem to get the system to release the damn memory. I thought prefetch was the cause but it is not, I also tried running the ProcessIdleTasks command but that didn't help either.

Can anyone please help? Does anyone know how I can clear down the cached memory?

Thanks,

A:Memory issues win 7 64 bit - Driving me crazy

Hello Steve and welcome to Seven Forums.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your machine. Windows 7 has a totally different way of dealing with memory compared to previous versions. The Windows 7 philosophy is simple: "Unused memory is wasted memory." That means Windows 7 will assign unused memory to another memory function. More often than not memory is cached for future use. This previous Forum thread has more info about how Windows 7 utilizes memory.

Can someone please explain cached memory?

Okay - made the big jump to SP via the Windows Update tool - wonderful tosses a handful of confetti and blows the party whistle Two issues - one existing prior to the SP update RAM - as per the service pack overview yes Vista -bit does recognize the memory but DOES NOT from what I can tell utilize all gb of the memory I have installed Now the overview also stated that in the Task Manager it wouldn t list all gb of memory which is fine it lists in Welcome Center 1 Memory - Service Issues Pack and a few other places except for the fact that now even while idling my cached RAM continuously climbs higher and higher when absolutely NOTHING is running except for Windows and it s own subsystems processes I have a memory program running along-side of things that somehow shows me that I have gb of memory free - which is somehow misleading as Vista is now POST SP upgrade sharing mb of RAM with my video card Picture before starting Guild Wars http img photobucket com albums v Cinderwolf memoryissues jpg Once the free memory has run out the page file obviously begins to grow - which brings me to the second issue Page File - disabling the page file is as simple as going to your Advanced System options and telling Windows to use No Paging File on all disk drives right Wrong at least on my system As you can see in both screenshots I have linked in this forum my paging file still reads as gb in maximum size Service Pack 1 - Memory Issues the current size being the smaller number of course The page file continuously grows as I open the game Guild Wars the game not open and the system being idle in the first shot the game open in the second shot Picture running Guild Wars http img photobucket com albums v Cinderwolf memoryissues jpg ------------ Now anyone who has installed SP if you watch the memory on system startup is it being eaten away constantly And has anyone also had any trouble with COMPLETELY disabling the paging file within Vista nbsp

Hey guys I m nearly at my wits end with Microsoft Windows and I never thought I d ever end up saying this A long story short XP never read past gb out of gb of RAM so I upgraded to XP x it read the memory fine but almost no programs I used worked with - so I installed Vista Home Premium as it came with the system Video Vista Memory Issues and the upgraded RAM would run it just fine now Vista Video Memory Issues - which registers gb The issue is this My BIOS manages the ammount of physical memory shared with the video memory My particular video card within my laptop has mb of built-in dedicated video memory - XP saw this just fine The BIOS has the following memory sharing sizes and - and Windows XP would recognize that I had dedicated total of when set to shared Vista on the other hand Vista seems to think what is set in the BIOS is what s dedicated to my video card i e I set my shared physical memory to mb Vista claims I have mb video memory and video performance for any game goes down the drain Leaving it set to mb still causes jerks and glitches with my mouse in Guild Wars Stepmania skips video laggy etc Vista itself shares mb of RAM with the video card for a total of mb of video memory - but it s completely destroying performance I can t figure this out at all and I m crossing my fingers that the Vista SP when released later this month will rectify ALOT of situations - but coming from Microsoft I doubt it we ll see if it REALLY reads all gb of memory after the sp is installed on this OS Might anybody have any ideas as to what s going on and why Vista is convinced what I have set in my BIOS is what s dedicated almost like it s running solely on my RAM rather than VRAM - I have no memory timings RAM settings etc in my BIOS other than memory ammounts to share nbsp

I just purchased gb of PNY DDR PC Mhz Dual Channel Ram for my motherboard to replace the gb of Corsair Ram I had First off if I install all sticks it only sees on the boot up It lists the gb as Dual Channel Second it gets as far as the Windows XP screen before the S1689 Issues on Chaintech MB Memory desktop launches and does not boot any farther Reading up on the motherboard at various memory sites it states this board can handle gb of Dual Channel memory The PNY that I bought for it is supposed to work in it Memory Issues on Chaintech S1689 MB If I remove stick of memory it boots up to the desktop and sees the gb and lists it as Single Channel Is there anything I can do to make it see all gb as Dual Channel and boot completely to the desktop I ve tried swapping to other slots Is there a setting somewhere in the Bios that I m missing Please let me know if anyone has an answer I tried to find a support page for Chaintech but it seems as if they no longer have one nbsp
