I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Dual AMD W7000 for 8 monitors - No support from AMD

Ok so if I am reading correctly this is the card you purchased correct?

Now then, you have two of these running in one machine im assuming X-Fired together so you can output on 8 displays. So the way im reading this (please correct my if im wrong) you have 8 display port adapters going to 8 different monitors (Display port to HDMI, DVI, or what?).

So here are my questions:
Which monitors have dropped off (Which card or both and which ports)?
Do you have the latest Catalyst for the Workstation cards running?
What version of windows are you running?

Here's a couple of quick things you can do to try and get all 8 working and ill see if I can't figure out the issue with you:

Try disabling eyefinity and running every monitor as an independent display.
Try rebuilding eyefinity in the control center and see if it detects all 8 monitors

One thing is that display port is designed to hold more than one monitor per port, im guessing you are using the DVI connectors since they came with it. My advice would be instead of using every port on each card, buy some of the dual display port adapters and use only the top card to run eyefinity, using 2 cards for multiple displays tends to run into issues at times especially when connecting such an extreme amount of monitors.

I am trying to buy a laptop and it has a amd a6-3400m processor

Those processors are suppose to be able to handle video.

my question is does the built in gpu support 2 monitors were you can move a program back and forth between the two monitors or is it mirrored

A:can the amd apu's support dual monitors

Yes they can, but unless they also happen to support Eyefinity you are limited to one of the displays being the laptop's own.

Currently set up with a Philips Briliance 190SW and about to buy a new monitor. Figured it wouldn't support the resolution so I had to go with a lower-cost monitor. Will my graphics card support dual monitoring? This is the one Will it work? And by any chance this one can be compatible? Sorry I just don't know where to look through the internet.

The full description of the display adapter is: " Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1) ".

Can this computer support dual monitors? Not the same thing on each screen, an extension of the desktop, each screen to display something else.

The computer itself has one VGA port and one HDMI port.

The two screens I have, both have VGA and one also has DVI.

Having just upgraded from XP using the Nvidia dual monitor desktops for years, I was surprised to find Windows 7 has this feature in-built with the added bonus of slideshow desktop images C00L!
So beyond Win7 eye candy which is better, Does it come down to games running faster under the Nvidia dual desktops, what is the general preference here?

A:Is Nvidia dual monitors a poor cousin to Windows 7 dual monitors?..

afaik, there is no real performance difference, as all stuff is handled by the nvidia driver anyway.

And of course the more monitors the higher performance hit as there is more screen surface to work on (the same as increasing resolution).

Btw, the main pityfall of the multiple monitors is that the taskbar is only in the primary monitor, but there are a ton of good third party programs that can handle this, like Actual Multiple Monitors.

Hi! I just upgraded to Win8 this weekend and so far I really like it. I discovered something this morning that now that the weekend is over is bugging the crap out of me and I need help. I work from home and use this alot so it would be helpful.

I am trying to do a couple things I could easily do in 7,
- have Chrome open in both monitors at once with different things on them.
- currently Chrome has no minimize/maximize buttons on the upper right like it used to. Makes it very hard to multitask.

I have 2 monitors, the main is a 23" touch screen and the second is an 18" non-touch screen.

Also, is there a way to have the taskbar to appear at the bottom always like it used to?

Thanks! I really appreciate the help!

A:Windows 8 Dual Monitors, need help having browser open in both monitors

Answered my own question. Google Chrome was showing in App mode. When I downloaded Chrome for 8 there is an option to have it show in desktop mode and the taskbar, minimize/maximize, and multi window option came back. YAY.

Now if someone could tell me why windows 8 won't fill the screen at the resolution recommended for my 23" monitor I'd be good!

I have an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 9600 video card. It's been working properly for quite awhile and now suddenly the cursor moves to the second monitor when I drag the cursor beyond the bottom of the first monitor.

It used to go from one monitor to the other by dragging it from left-to-right. I can't figure out what caused it to start doing this or how to go about getting it back to the way it was before. Any ideas how to change it back. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

what i can't find is how to use 2 monitors with 2 cards. do i remove the crossfirex bridges and connect one monitor per card, or do i keep the crossfirex bridges and connect both monitors to the first card, still running crossfirex?

I would just connect the 2 monitors to the one card and then extend the desktop using either desktop properties or Catalyst control center.

Can anyone please tell me how to set up another monitor to work with my laptop computer? I've made a little progress, HOWEVER...

I would then like to open my Excel Workbook that has 2 sheets. One sheet is constant data input into various columns using my laptop. In the second sheet, I have formulas which constantly updates the data within a formatted table that I would like displayed onto the external monitor.

My project is to hook the laptop monitor into an overhead flat screen tv using HDMI cable. Then, while sitting in a corner with my laptop entering data, the results would be constantly updated for the audience to see.

A:dual monitors / dual programs set up

Hello dunna, welcome to Sevenforums

With a laptop, (assuming you have an HDMI port), it shouldn't be too difficult. However, laptops are different. For example, mine, you plug in the secondary monitor, and there is a function key (Fn) that you press, and the corresponding key to change the output mode (for me, it is F1). It should let you choose how you want to display to the monitor. Test it out yourself to see, but if you can't find it, let us know. It helps if you provide the laptop type, so we can tell you the keys exactly

I hope someone can chime in here. Let's talk TV's for a quick moment. I undestand if I own a LCD projection or Flat panel , DLP projection or a Plasma flatpanel or projection TV that supports either 1080p (True HDTV) , 1080i, 720p, 768p or even just 480p for that matter it can viewed if I have the correct source submitting one of the above resolutions.

Now when it comes to PC's and getting the proper resolution, I'm lost. Do graphics cards support HD? Or even 480p for that matter. Are any games developed for HD? Or any software for that matter?

Any help would be great...

A:PC Monitors: Can they support 1080p?

It all depends on what sort of inputs your fancy display device has..

Newer video cards with DVI outputs support HDTV resolutions. Including 1080i. Just read the specs and fine print. If you want to convert a VGA signal to composite then you are limited to something like 800x600.

Good software doesn't know or care about screen resolutions at all and will run at arbitrary resolutions. Showing the picture is up to the graphics card and the drivers.

A:Would this setup support 2 monitors?

Processor, RAM, and hard drive have nothing to do with multiple monitor setups or support. You need a graphics card that supports dual monitors, or you need 2 graphics cards. You've just listed a generic graphics card chipset.

Dear all,

My computer is Dell Precision M6500. The graphic card is ATI FirePro M7740. The computer only has one VGA port.

I used a dock station which has 1 VGA port and two DVI ports. I connected two monitors to the VGA port and 1 of the DVI ports.

In the "Screen Resolution" dialog, I can see 3 monitors: The laptop monitor, 2 external monitors. However, one of the external monitors is grayed out. I can never to make all of the 3 active at the same time.

I am wondering if Windows 7 allows me to use 3 monitors at the same time? Did I miss something?

Thank you.

Hey I'm not sure about how to resolve this, but just FYI, as far as I know, Windows 7 will support as many monitors as your video card will allow. I had 3 connected to my HD 5870 the other day in ATI Eyefinity mode.

Actually, if you use two dual-head video cards, you should be able to run four monitors that way.

Perhaps you should try addressing why the current board doesn't work, are you sure that's hopeless?

Display Adapters:  I have AMD Radeon HD 8790M and Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 installed.
When I try to use the 4th monitor it says "Disconnect this display". If i select extended display, some other monitor goes blank. Meaning, I can only see one laptop monitor and any other two monitor.
I guess it is not supporting 3 monitors. Can you point me on what am I missing?

Hello, so I purchased the TB15 docking station thinking it would support up to 3 external monitors for the XPS 13, since it has a VGA, HDMI port and Display port mini. I can get 2 external monitors to work, but I can't get 3 to work. I wanted to keep the lid closed and use a 3 external monitor setup. I already purchased the monitors and my desk mount stand for 3 monitors... If the docking station won't work, does anyone know of any alternatives?

The integrated GPU can drive 3 monitors, but that includes the laptop screen. If you disable laptop screen you should be able to get 3 external monitors to work.

I went through display settings and went to the second monitor and checked the extend desktop box, but every time I click apply it unchecks itself and does not work. It use to work but it doesn't anymore.

Now I don't know if I am doing something wrong but I also can't change the resolution on the second display. It stays at 800 by 600. I have tried changing my main monitor to 800 by 600 and trying to recheck the box but that still does not work.

Any suggestions?

I don't particularly game on due to having a PS2, (I know that was a little like swearing on here lol), I do watch dvds on my pc, so would appreciatte something that will make the picture crisp while watching these. A:Dual monitors

Does your GPU have 2 outputs? For example, new graphics cards all have Dual DVI output. You just connect the monitors to the two outputs and set it up in your graphics settings (right click desktop->property->settings->advanced). I think if you don't have dual outputs for your GPU, you might need to actually have 2 GPUs, each outputting to one monitor.

I have dual monitors, one on my laptop and another bigger monitor for when I am docked and at the office.

Under XP I had it set so that when I closed the lid on my laptop, the lapto screen was shut off and all files that were subsequently opend were opened to the main big screen.

It appears now that when I close the lid the screen stays on and if there was a window showing on the laptop when the lid is closed it does not automatically switch to the big monitor. It used to under XP. Is there a way to duplicate this behavior in Windows 7?

There are times when I want to use just one monitor and shut the monitor built-in to the lap top - off. Is there an easy way to do so?

Hey everyone got a quick curious question here I am fascinated by the idea of having dual monitors on my desk I really want the extra workspace However I have a few uncertainties about how it works I know the obvious thing dual monitors give you more workspace on your desktop Is it just like an extended desktop where you drag things over to the other Dual Monitors...?? monitor for more workspace In Dual Monitors...?? what way is the extra desktop workspace achieved Of course I would not come asking without doing my own research Several Google results and many pictures are all I have at the moment which still does not tell me much about the details i seek From HERE it states that the quot exended quot or quot independent displays quot mode and the quot spanning quot or quot streched quot display mode In both these modes display devices are positioned next to each other in order to create the illusion that the two displays are logically contiguous Click to expand Which basically means the monitors are side-by-side which is what I want It then explains more about different ways of using two monitors In quot extended quot mode additional desktop area is created on additional monitors Each monitor can use different settings resolution color refresh rate Alternately some video cards are able to quot span quot the existing desktop area across two Dual Monitors...?? monitors rather than create additional desktop space This is accomplished by using a widescreen resolution such as x That is monitors at x resolution each Each monitor needs to have the same resolution and color depth settings and often the same refresh rate Click to expand Ok then so extended mode is when the monitors can have different settings and span mode is when they have the same settings The way that extended mode is worded when it says quot additional desktop area quot sorta tells me that it lets you simply drag windows from one monitor to the other Is that how it is It does not specify The way it explains span mode quot spans the existing desktop area across two monitors rather than create additional desktop space quot is also vague By spanning does it mean extending the desktop including the taskbar amp system tray to the other monitor If so then wouldn t it be bad since the inch-wide edges of the two monitors would create this ugly un-viewable area down the middle of it Sorry for the length of this please help me if you can Thanks in advance PS Yay my th post haha nbsp

A:Dual Monitors...??

There are basically 3 ways that things can happen, and it may vary on what they are called by the brand of the video chipset.

You can have them be exactly the same, meaning everything you see on monitor 1 is also identically displayed on monitor 2. This is pretty worthless unless you are doing color comparisons between the 2.

Another way is to have a HUGE start bar which spans over both screens, you can drag between 1 screen and the other, its effectively 1 big monitor. This way is better than the first one for obvious reasons, but its still not very good. Messages boxes often pop up right in the middle, so its split between 2 monitors not much good.

The 3rd way is to have 1 monitor be the primary and will house the start bar, then the second monitor is just an extention, but behaves independently. You can still drag windows between both. This is in my opinion the ideal setup.

Try not to make this more complex than necessary, its a pretty simple set of senarios.

Edit: Here is a shot of how mine is setup, I have a quicklaunch like bar set to autohide on the far right I forgot to have pop out for the screenshot.

I've got 2 monitors that have both VGA and DVI-D connections. I've got 2 PCs, one with 2 DVI-D connections, one (a laptop dock) has 1 VGA and 1 DVI-D connection. My keyboard and mouse are USB. I want to find a Dual-monitor, 2-port KVM switch that will work with this setup. The hangup is the one VGA output on the laptop dock: VGA to DVI-D is problematic.

Would it be best to use a 2-port, dual-monitor KVM with VGA connections, and put DVI-D-to-VGA adapters on the output connections? I think I'd be sacrificing some screen quality, but I don't think a "VGA-to-DVI-D" adapter exists.

Hello. I cannot get a dual monitor setup to work for the life of me. I've made a LITTLE progress though by tweaking the BIOS to load from the Mobo VGA port first on boot, but now the second monitor just stays lit up with the windows 10 logo and nothing else, while the first still works just fine. Windows will not detect the second monitor, nor will extending it on the projector settings work. The main monitor is plugged into DVI on an old ATI Radeon HD 7700 Series card. Forget the exact model and that. I believe it's an H.I.S. Radeon. But I'm going through all the options and i'm scratching my head here. help would be appreciated.

EDIT The Radeon card I have only supports one DVI connection and one HDMI. Both monitors I have are VGA/DVI.

A:Need help with dual monitors

I'll happily be wrong, but I don't believe you can run one from the mobo and one from the video card together.

Disable the mobo GPU in BIOS.

Then get an HDMI/DVI adapter so you can run the second monitor off the card with the first.

I am having some "detection" issues with my KVM switch on a Windows 7 machine.

As you can see in the above diagram, PC 1 has two monitors connected to it. One coming off of the KVM (monitor 1) and one coming straight from the computer. (Monitor 2)

Now whenever I switch to PC 2 and back to PC 1, Monitor 2 goes dead and I have to re detect in Windows. Is there any way to get it to automatically re-detect after I switch back to PC 1?

The issue is caused by that the KVM did not support DDC/EDID communication check/feeding between connected system and console monitor. You can either find KVM switch support FULL-TIME All DDC/EDID or just put a VGA-EDID emulator between PC1 and the TK-207K.

If you press the (Windows Key + P) together, holding down the Windows key, is the option Extend selected? If not, can you select it please (still holding down the Windows key, press P a couple of times until Extend is selected).

How have you setup the two monitors, their resolution mainly but anything else?

Can you turn this off temporarily and test?

[QUOTE=Knucklerapper;4161611...I have a VGA to HDMI Converter but did not use that yet because I am waiting for a splitter for the VGA Cable which will boost the signal to both monitors (and I believe would simply duplicate my desk top anyway)...[/QUOTE]

Yes, a VGA splitter will only duplicate the output, you will see the same image on both monitors.

I have a PowerSpec Radeon 7000 video card. I have bought two Dell E173FP flat panel monitors. Screen 1 works just fine at 1280x1024. The second screen wont fit correctly. I have tried all the the display settings for the desktop and the video card. Any other suggestions?

Hey All,

I just got a second monitor, and I want to be able to play a game on one, and watch a movie on the other, both using full screen. They are running off the same GFX card (8800GT) - when I open the game, the movie when running in full screen pans to the side on the second monitor and black, so I see half black screen and half desktop background, but I still hear the movie playing, when the movie is running in windowed mode and I open the game, the video just turns black, but with sound.

So how can I fix this? My PC is pretty good and should run fine, I dont know whether this is a config problem or what..

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I want to install a two-monitor set-up. After Windows 7 driver install, Windows detects the new LG 2486L as 'LG 2486 (Digital) on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter' and shows only one display icon as #1, failing to detect the older NEC display altogether, thus no option to extend the display onto a second monitor appears in, 'Change the appearance of your display'.

I am running the DVI cable that came with the new LG monitor. I am using an VGA/DVI adapter to connect the older VGA monitor. I disconnected the NEC monitor and restarted the system using only the LG monitor connection and still get the same result.

Monitors:NEW: LG 2486L (DVI Cable)
OLD: NEC LCD 1530V (VGA Cable w/Adapter)
System: Windows 7 64-bit
Asus P7P55D
Radeon HD 5770 (ATI)
Can anyone guide me through a correction of the errors or oversights I've made and help with the set up of these two monitors?

Thank you.

I just installed a Geforce GT 220 in my system and had the same problem you have. After installing the latest NVidia drivers my second monitor showed up.
