I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Here, I scrapped your config. NAT bad/static bad/conduit bad/access-list bad.

no fixup protocol smtp
nameif int xxx outside security 0
nameif int xxx inside security 100
nameif int xxx dmz security 80
icmp permit any outside echo-reply
icmp permit any outside unreachable
icmp permit any inside
icmp permit any dmz
global (outside) 1 int
nat (inside) 1 172.17.0.0 255.255.0.0 32768 16483
route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 65.77.78.1 1
static (inside,dmz) 172.17.0.0 172.17.0.0 255.255.0.0
static (dmz,outside) 172.18.0.2 65.77.78.48 netmask 255.255.255.255 << Can't have same IP as interface**
access-list internet permit tcp any host 65.77.78.48 eq 80
access-list internet permit tcp any host 65.77.78.48 eq 443
access-list internet permit tcp any host 65.77.78.48 eq 25
access-list internet permit icmp any any eq echo
access-list internet permit icmp any any eq echo-reply
access-list internet permit icmp any any eq unreachable
access-list internet permit icmp any any eq source-quench
access-group internet in interface outside
access-list dmz permit ip host 172.18.0.2 any << *Read note 1
access-group dmz in interface dmz
access-list inside permit ip any any
access-group inside in interface inside

The above config will nat 172.18.0.2 to 65.77.78.48. You can't static NAT an entire IP to the same as a global (your interface). You can only do this if you NAT specific ports.

The above config will allow internet to reach 65.77.78.48 via TCP 80/443/25. I can only assume you're using ISA for EFE server, and maybe proxy. (Not an ISA fan)

The above config allows your ISA server carte-blanche access. In essence, it's a DMZ by name only. Don't fool yourself.

Don't use conduits, they're deprecated.

Don't use a firewall to permit "any" to your ISA server, actually use it to block inbound ports.

Also, your ISA server shouldn't/can't have two NIC's in the same subnet. That's a bad idea on 10 different levels. IF you're using your ISA server (blech) as EFE / reverse proxy for OWA, and outbound proxy - you might as well keep it on the same subnet as your Exchange server (inside, I'm assuming.) Again, 10 different reasons why it's a flawed security plan.

If this is simply an EFE server or reverse proxy, make sure you don't keep the ISA server part of any AD domain, stick it in the DMZ, and restrict what hosts it's allowed to see on the network that you're trying to protect.

Regards.

I have just recently deployed a new exchange server 2003 on a domain controller running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition R2. Everything was working well until I setup the VPN server. Now clients have to open and close Outlook several times before it will connect them to the exchange server. It will eventually allow them to connect to the exchange server it is just cumbersome to have to open Outlook 3-5, sometimes 7 times before it will connect to exchange. The DHCP and DNS are working fine, there are no errors reported about them in the event log, but I can't seem to resolve this issue. This just started happening after the VPN server was setup. Any help or tips you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

delete the VPN support and reboot the server. If the problem goes away,
then the VPN code is buggie -- call the vendor!

A:Running Exchange Server 2003

All you have to do is set up an MX record to point to your IP address or your dyndns one and open up port 25 on your router. I run one from home and it's easy to set up. Make sure you have DNS set up correctly for your public domain before installing Exchange.

Hiya

This update resolves an issue where the Outlook Web Access (OWA) form would stop responding when you compose a message using the S/MIME control on a client running Internet Explorer 7.0 and accessing a mail server running Exchange Server 2003.

Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows Server 2003; Windows Server 2003 R2 (32-Bit x86); Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1

Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) must be installed prior to installing this update.

I can send mail fine but i am not recieving.

Do i need to contact the Hosting company? ISP? or no-ip.com?

A:exchange server 2003 setup

You have to configure exchange to allow relaying for your domain, you have to forward port 25 on your router, you have to make sure your ISP isn't blocking port 25. That's all I can think of right now until I get some more information.

It looks like someone has hacked into our system and is sending out a huge amount of emails. I can see, in Exchange Systems Manager, about 5,000 emails in queue. My question is how do I delete or remove these emails? We are a small company so I know we are not sending out that many emails. Also, I can see the sender and it is not someone internally.

Hello,

I am a novice networking person and I try to save my company some $ by doing some of the networking tasks at work. An employee recently left and they want to disable her e-mail account as well as Outlook Web Access. They want to keep her active directory account enabled until they transfer her files to another folder on the network. I know I can delete the exchange mailbox, but I cannot see a way to just disable it. What is the best way to disable the exchange acoount and Outlook web access without deleting the excahnge mailbox or is that possioble? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

A:Disabling e-mail through Exchange Server 2003

to disable OWA for a user you can do this -

1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
2. If not already select, enable Advanced Features by clicking View | Advanced Features.
3. Expand the nodes until you have located the user of concern.
4. Right-click the user and select Properties.
5. Switch to the Exchange Advanced tab and click the Protocol Settings button.
6. From the Protocols page, click HTTP.
7. From the HTTP Protocols Detail page, deselect the Enable for mailbox setting, as shown in Figure 7.
8. Close out all properties pages and the Active Directory Users and Computers console.

Here is a GREAT link for some other thoughts on ways to make sure they can't access the mailbox.

When connected to work via VPN I can access shared drives and our webmail etc., but when I attempt to connect to Outlook 2003 it shows it trying to connect and eventually showing "disconnected". It seems like I can do everything but access the mail server via Outlook 2003. I can access my email using the webmail client, but I would prefer using the full client.

I can connect fine while on our LAN at work and Outlook is a firewall exception. Using a second laptop (with the same setup - XP SP2) while at home I have no problem at all accessing everything via VPN, including Outlook 2003 - so it seems to be specific to the settings on this particular laptop.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Until recently we had all emails from two different domains coming to us from ISP for internal distribution using our server. We have now split the companies and deleted that email address from internal users on our server but when we send email to to personnel on the old account they are still being directed internally by our server and then can not be delivered as the user accounts have been deleted. How do we reset the server so that the old addresses are no longer seen as "internal" accounts?

Had to shut down the server for several hours. Some emails sent during that time were not received after restarting server. Not sure what info you need from me but am using Office Outlook 97 on some computers and Office Outlook 2003 on others to retrieve email. Could those emails possibly be on the server? Is there a way to retrieve them?

Thanks.

Since are asking the question and given that you posted your e-mail address on a public webpage.. You don't know much about e-mail and you probably shouldn't be doing this on your own.

Anyway, a good start would be Reading The Friendly Manual.

When sending internal mail and default is the exchange server it works fine. But if you are sending an internet mail it trys to go thru the exchange server also. If you list internet mail as default it does not send exchange mail. How do I make it start with one service and if it does not go to automatically use the other service.

A question re. the use of profiles in Outlook. This is for my home computer, using POP3.

Two of us use the the computer, both using separate profiles in Outlook, which works fine. However, there does not seem to be any way for each of us to retain our own Views. Basically, I am trying to set up the other user's views in the simplest form possible (buttons include text, Nav Bar shows large buttons, etc.). But any changes I make to his than get made to mine. Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks.

A:Outlook 2003 Profiles View Settings- NO Exchange Server

Hi ejcohen3

Found this in the newsgroups, I don't have Outlook 2003 installed yet, to try it.

Rename Outcmd.dat to .old with Outlook closed. Next time you open Outlook,
you can create all of your toolbars, arrange them as you like per folder.
Close Outlook and copy the Outcmd.dat file you created when you recustomized
the toolbars. Save this in a safe place. Whenever you add customizations
to the toolbar, remember to copy that file to your safe place. If your
toolbars corrupt, all you need to do is rename the current file and
substitute the most recent backup.

Have a new server running 2003. Somewhat IT saavy, obviously not enough.

here's the setup-- T1 line on a 2651 router going into my server.
Line coming out of my server into a 220 Cisco switch.

I get connectivity on the server for internet, etc-- however, I do not have connectivity on the other side.

Also, trying to use server for dhcp-- dont see that its releasing a Default Gateway.

Ideas?

A:Setting Up My Server 2003

You must either setup routing and remote access on your server or move the internet connection to the switch and therefore straight on to the LAN.

For DHCP to issue the Default Gateway you need add option 3 to the Scope Options as the IP address of the gateway. Also make sure you have option 6 for issueing your DNS servers.

Hello We have a Windows server running Exchange This 2003 Windows security Server 2000 question Exchange running server sits inside a local domain but receives its mail from an outside domain That sounds confusing but it was easiest during our migration after being purchased We are trying to create public folders that our sales group can access in Exchange but the security settings for each user always Windows 2000 Server running Exchange 2003 security question change to whatever the Default users permissions are For example we set up users with Author permissions and the Default we set to None When we did this none of the users could see the folder So we changed the settings for the default to Reviewer and left the other users as Author They could then see the folder but they only had reviewer Windows 2000 Server running Exchange 2003 security question privileges Does anyone know a way that we can restrict access to this folder Any time that we give the Default any permissions than Windows 2000 Server running Exchange 2003 security question anyone in the company can access this folder We don t want that to happen Thank you in advance nbsp

Hi,

I have a set of 5 machines - 2 desktops (one being a thin client and the other to function as a 'server' ) and 3 notebooks. I was wondering what was the difference b/w the 2 versions Windows Server 2003 and Windows Small Business Server 2003. Is it true one cannot use a thin client but need a regular cpu setup to use Small Business Server 2003 ?

There is a difference in costs and since i have windows 2000 on the desktops and xp on the notebooks wondered if i needed to shell out so much more $$ for the Windows Server 2003 . I plan to put in a wireless networking system to link all the 5 machines.

Thanks in advance for any and all advise.

A:Solved: Difference b/w Windows Server 2003 and Small Business Server 2003

Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server has the following restrictions:
- Only one computer in a domain can be running Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server.
- Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server must be the root of the Active DirectoryŽ forest.
- Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server cannot trust any other domains.
- A Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server domain cannot have any child domains.
- Each additional server must have a Windows Small Business Server 2003 client access license (CAL). You can use CALs for each user or for each device.
The standard edition of Windows Small Business Server 2003 includes Windows Server 2003 technologies, including fax service, firewall service, and remote-access service. Additionally, it includes Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, enhanced tools for server monitoring and administration, and an out-of-the-box solution for internal Web sites. The standard edition is ideal for customers who do not require the higher-level functionality included in the premium edition

The premium edition includes everything in the standard edition, plus Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000, and Microsoft FrontPageŽ 2003. The premium edition is ideal for small businesses with more demanding IT needs, such as data-intensive line-of-business applications, or advanced firewall and Web-caching capabilities

The standard edition has most of the stuffs inside.

Hello everyone:

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but I thought I would try.

We have an Exchange server running Windows Server 2000 and we Blackberry Enterprise Server running on a seperate server. We are getting ready to upgrade our Exchange server to Windows Server 2003 and have run into a snag with a test user we created. We created the new account on our old server and then moved the users mailbox to the new exchange server. When we did that the BES recognizes that the user has moved servers but it doesn't send or recieve messages to the handheld.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Hi Guys

Need some advice regards the above

I want to set up a small test server/network to increase my knowledge of
a) planning and building/deploying a network
b) Active directory and applying group policies

Want I want to know if what do I need?

I was thinkning I need 2 desktops,
1 to run server 2003 and AD
1 to act as a Domain Controller (does this need to be server 2003 as well?)

A swith or Hub
3-4 PC's to join to the Network/Domain as Test PC's

The PC's won't accessing be the Internet or be in a live enviroment so I don't need a Firewall

I have all of the above already

Have I missed anything

Currently we are on an NT network with a few 2000 servers tossed in. Today I learned that the plan is to migrate everything to Linux. Lets assume that this only applies to the servers and that the users will still operate with 98/nt/2000/xp. What are your thoughts on this?

I put this in this forum for a reason. Because I'd rather get the advice from 2000 and 2003 experts who know what Linux cannot replace than to hear the Linux fanboys and anti-Microsoft activists praise it to the high heavens.

What would your concerns be if this was done on your network? What problems have you encountered if you'd tried this? Or what successes? Know of any businesses that have done this successfully?

I'm having issues finding the location of en expired certificate that one of my LDAP servers responds with during an LDAPS bind attempt.

I'm using Linux's ldapsearch to perform specific tasks during user creation but recently discovered the certificate expired. I have renewed said certificate and placed it in the personal store on that ldapserver but after debugging the SSL connection it still responds with the previously expired certificate.

Can anyone tell me where this certificate would be stored on Windows Server 2003. I've found multiple post regarding the store in 2008 but that does not exist in 2003. I've searched the whole store using certutil trying to match the serial on this certificate but can't find it anywhere.

How do you enter the credentials on the Windows 7 machine? I've noticed that you have to use "domain\username" rather than just the username in some cases.

Every 5 minutes I get this error message popping up under event viewer on a Windows 2003 Small Business Server (all updates etc):

Event ID: 1054

Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. (An unexpected network error occurred. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
I have done the MS Support site "recommendations", but the Server is pointing to itself for the DNS and the IP address and all that are fine. Not sure why or what is going on here. I can't seem to stop it.

hi guys!
I just installed Windows 2000 Advance Server recently to a Compaq Proliant ML530 server and found out that the license for this server is more expensive than Windows Server 2003 Standard. The SmartStart CD of the compaq does not support windows server 2003 and I don't want to manually re-configure everything and start all over again. Does Win2K A.S. support Windows Server 2003 upgrade?

Hello i want some help about setting up my ftp server. First of all i've already installed all useful programms (NO-IP, BulletProof server and SmartFTP) and i've made 2 accounts for them (NO-IP, BulletProof server). The problem is when im going to connect with the server from SmartFTP the connection always fails. i put normaly the host name and the username-password in SmartFTP that i took from NO-IP. I think that something going wrong with the BulletProof Server. if anyone knows how i can fix it i would apreciate to help me soon. thank you!!!!!

A:Setting up FTP server with NO-IP, BulletProof Server and SmartFTP

Telnet and FTP are security risks, but I'll defer that for now.

look at all the routing info

Code:

your isp gateway (some public ip address)
|
+ the ISP assigned public address of your modem/router
|
+ the router's LAN address
|
+ your system's LAN address

access to your system (regardless of which specific service)
requires

your public modem/router address
a port forward to the system's LAN address
your system's firewall to allow incoming traffic on the required port
and usually an ID+Password to login
the ISP assigned public address of your modem/router is not associated with any DNS,
so you can not be accessed by NAME unless you register with DynDNS.org

SO --- how much of that have you completed?

What are the steps involved in sharing Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2003 Server resources over a network?

Relevancy 82.99%

We had:

1) 1 Windows Server 2003 running Active Directory services to manage logon and permissions for file sharing.
2) 15 workstations.

We now want to have:

1) 1 Windows Server 2008 R2 server running Active Directory services to manage logon and permissions for file sharing.
2) 15 same workstations, with their same user profiles.

So I joined the 2008 R2 server to the domain, and then used the dcpromo tool to make it a domain controller.

Problem is, whenever I take the old server offline, (the 2003 one) everything flips out, logons are slow, and the 2008 server gives people trying to access shared files weird errors like that the server that authenticated them cannot be contacted, and asks them to log in again with their username and password before accessing shared files on the server.

What did I do wrong? I must be forgetting something.

2. Uninstall AD on 2003 server

But i can connect non admin user to opc server in Windows xp

Is it possible for non admin user to connect OPC server in windows server 2003?

OPC server and client are on same system

Please give me your feedback

Thanks!

A:Non Admin not able to connect OPC server in Windows Server 2003

From what I've read on this thread, you'll need to set computer-wide DCOM security permissions. You'll want to peruse that thread.

On another note, this isn't really the best spot for this question. An error message isn't a crash, hang or bsod, and the situation is more relevant to specifically the Windows Server section (even though OPC servers can and often do exist in many client versions of Windows). You'll be able to receive more help there, as it's pertinent to your needs.

I have two domain controllers with different domain names but on the same subnet and with active directory installed. One domain controller is win 2000 and the other is win 2003. The computers are in a workgroup the users don't log on but are connected to the win 2000 box with shares to a program. If I take active directory off the win 2000 box and demote will that affect the computers that are In a workgroup connected to the shares? I want to install all the programs and shares on the new win 2003 box but one computer win not let me log on to the win 2003 box it says no domain available. What can I do to slowly migrate the programs and shares to the new server?

A recent cumulative update for Exchange 2016 was intended to add support for Windows Server 2016. But, after numerous reported issues, Microsoft has acknowledged a problem exists.

According to the release notes?

If you attempt to run Microsoft Exchange 2016 CU3 on Windows Server 2016, you will experience errors in the IIS host process W3WP.exe. There is no workaround at this time. You should postpone deployment of Exchange 2016 CU3 on Windows Server 2016 until a supported fix is available.

Once again, Microsoft?s testing of its own patches seems to have taken a backseat to accelerated release deadlines.

I have a client who has an existing Server 2000 domain. He is running two Windows 2000 servers in his domain. What he's looking to do is to replace the master domain controller,(the server which was first brought up and hence contains the master copy of the domain database).

I believe that since this is going to be a completely new server and running Server 2003 standard edtiion I believe, that I'll need to first take everyone out of the domain, demote the second domain controller to a stand-alone and then demote the master domain controller which effectively dissolves the domain. Then after bringing the brand new server up, recreate the domain and then the secondary domain controller and join everyone back into domain (new SID but same domain name).

Does this sound correct-could anyone confirm whether this is correct?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Not sure if this is the correct forum. In the past I could use SCOPY to move users files from a File server (NT4 server) to a Windows 2000 server. From what I understand SCOPY does not work properly with 2003. Does Server 2003 have a similar utility to pring in files and retain security permissions ?

We have a Windows 7 Pro laptop that can't see any of the 300 or so Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Machines.

It can, however, see all (around 13) Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 Machines that are on the network. Using \\ServerName\Share doesn't connect, and they don't show up on the network map.

It can ping the servers though. They ping by hostname and by ip address. Other Windows 7 Pro Laptops don't have this same problem!

Additional Info:
They are all joined to the domain; servers, laptaps, etc.

A:DCOM service on Windows Server 2003 - "Server execution failed" when connecting

I found the answer.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroup...-DC48AB0DA5C9&dglist=&ptlist=&exp=&sloc=en-us

The above discussion says that a service must enter a running state before a COM server calls CoRergisterClassObject. So I guess its a development problem.

Not sure why it only manifests on Windows Server 2003 though.

You don't need to make any changes or additions to shares in regards to VPN client's being able to access previous shares on the server. Whatever you have assigned for the LAN access can work for VPN.

I have an access rule set on my ISA Server 2004 for denied websites. I'm trying to add certain users as exceptions to this rule but the ISA Server does not appear to be linked to the Active Directory server, even although all my servers are on the one domain and talk to each other. All the ISA server has is the three pre-defined user sets, which I can't change.

Does anyone know anyway around this? When I try to create a new user set I can only see the ISA Server itself under domains to choose from.

Any help appreciated.

Can MS Exchange Server be used with Windows 7 Ultimate, or is it for server operating systems only?

A:MS Exchange Server - Server OS only?

Well, Exchange Server itself requires Active Directory....so you would have to have some server based OS's to run that. And I do not believe that Exchange 2003, 2007 or 2010 will install on a non server based OS. I've never tried to be honest, but I'm pretty sure that it would not install.

I haverecently setup exchange server of small business server 2003.

I can receive internal emails, I can succesfully send emails but I cannot revceive external emails.

I have now realised that the virtual pop3 server service (in exchange system manager) will not start.

Could this be the cause of the problem? and if so how do I fix it?

For extra info, I have used a web email test program on my email address ([email protected]) and these were the results:

Step 1: Try connecting to the following mailserver:
abcit.no-ip.info. - 82.163.45.58

Step 2: If still unsuccessful, queue the E-mail for later delivery.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trying to connect to all mailservers:

abcit.no-ip.info. - 82.163.45.58 [Could not connect: Could not receive data: Operation timed out.]
[Note that if your mailserver takes over 30 seconds to respond, our test will timeout, even though real mailservers will wait longer]

NOTE: This tool does NOT attempt to determine if an E-mail address exists!

You have three options, theres a fourth but thats install from scratch
ca/groups?hl=en&lr=&scoring=d&q=move+to+new+hardware&btnG=Search&meta=group%3Dmicrosoft.public.windows.server.sbs

1. Swing Migration - http://www.sbsmigration.com

2. forklift. Image your installation and restore it to your new hardware. Some information on this method at http://www.smallbizserver.net. Check out google groups also for some info also.

3. Theres a Microsoft tool called Active Directory Migration Tool. For this you'll need to rename your server and you domain http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=16414
