where in the BIOS do I enable bluetooth? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and still no luck.
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My bluetooth stopped working in my ASUS Q302LA. Bluetooth doesn't even show in the Settings>Devices in Win 10. In Device Manager, under Microsoft LE Enumerator, Properties, it states "Device cannot start, Code 10." I clean installed win10 and am getting the same result, which leads me to think it is a BIOS problem. Any ideas.
I have a message on my hp laptop that the IR port on my computer is not enabled. How do I enable the IR port in XP? I would love to be able to sync my Palm wirelessly. Would be great!
Silly question, but is there a switch on your laptop to switch the IR on and off? Have a look.
Forgive me if this seems insulting, but when I've tried to sort out wireless issues on laptops before, the problem tends to be that the person hasn't got the switch set to "On".
Hello everyone, I would like some help on the following. My laptop keyboard is not working and I am using an external keyboard instead. However I would like to enable Bluetooth using Fn+F12 and I can not do that. I have tried with Fn+F12 from the Windows Virtual Keyboard, but it doesn't work. Do you have any suggestions please? Thank you very much for your time people!!!

I have an HP Pavillion dv6t -2000. At one point I was able to use bluetooth. I had a hard time setting it up and I think it was when I eventually went into the setup menu before windows launched and enabled bluetooth device that it worked. Now it doesn't appear to have ANY options for me to configure my computer. There are boot options and an option to reset to default. I've tried both. Also, when I go to system information my bluetooth ID is blank. When windows launches in my wireless assistance there is no bluetooth to enable. I have also tried to download bluetooth drivers both from broadcom and from HP, but both tell me I must first enable my bluetooth device --- which is nowhere to be found. Please help. - Lexihttp://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/bluetooth-errors-unable-to-enable-659132.html
I have a Sony Vaio with a switch on the front that turns WIRELESS on/off. Whenever I turn the switch 'off', I get a pop-up box that says something like 'Alert: Wireless has been turned off'. The pop-up also had an option to turn off this notification. I turned off this notification a week ago but now i would like to turn it back on. I have been looking at a lot of settings on my computer but I don't know how to turn it back on.
Does any one know how to turn the notification back on?
Thanks in advance.

I want to transfer some files from my BlackBerry phone to my PC via Bluetooth. I've read that in Windows 7 the Bluetooth option is supposed to be in the control panel somewhere, but I didn't see anything. Anyone knows where it is and how to enable it?
Look in 'services' ... type services.msc in the start search box.http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/134778-where-bluetooth-option-windows-7-how-enable.html
I go into bluetooth options,
I try and tell it to add a device, it says it is enabling Bluetooth. But then nothing at all happens. The message dissappears and it still says bluetooth disabled.
I upgraded the OS to 188.8.131.52
Any suggestions on how to fix this??

Win 7 allowed this, but I can't figure out how in Win 10. I want Win 10 to "trust" my Galaxy S5 and automatically receive and save files sent by the phone. I send multiple files, usually photos, and having to go through all the manual steps for each picture is not working for me. I have Googled this and searched forums to no avail. Anyone know how to do this?
Hello and welcome to the forum
Have you enabled "Allow remote devices to browse, send and receive pictures, music and other files" in your Windows Bluetooth settings?
Can I enable bluetooth connections on this laptop, and if so, how do I do it? I would like to connect to a bluetooth external speaker. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you guys show me the way to enable wireless at BIOS?
Ngoctraiden9x, welcome to the windows 7 forum.
The bios is where the hardware is turned on/off/configured in most cases. For your computer to use the wireless, you have to have the hardware drivers installed and the software to control the wireless adapter.
Normally, when you turn your machine on the bios recognizes your hardware devices and then as your Operating system loads, it load all the drivers for your devices and at that time your wireless would become active.
Is this what you meant when you said enable wireless at bios?
Some bios screens will allow you to turn on and off devices. If this is what you mean, then by entering bios, go thru the screens and look for the wireless. Some machines have a physical wireless switch or a function key toggle.
When I try to download Android Studios this pops up:
So when I went to the BIOS to enable it, there was no setting there for it. I am running Windows 10 on my Acer Aspire 5755G - 6823 with an Intel i5 - 2430M @2.4GHz. I even downloaded the Intel(R) Processor Identification Utility app and it says that it's supported on my device. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
It's possible it has some other name on your BIOS, like "Virtualization Technology" or "Intel Virtualization Feature". It's usually under the CPU or maybe even Motherboard settings.http://www.tenforums.com/virtualization/36281-cant-find-where-enable-vt-x-bios.html

Normally, your USB BIOS would only be required to allow BOOTing a USB HD.
Your Belkin USB is not accessed at BOOT time, so stop fussing with BIOS.
If you have modem-->router setup, then the drivers are not required at all!
Use the Modem->Router using Ethernet cable and from the router->pcs as well.
Otherwise, modem-->pc(USB connected) requires a driver.
Does this clarify/help?

This does not seem to be correct...
From my knowledge if the CPU would support the Intel VT, then this would be enabled by default.
But your CPU Intel? Core2 Duo Processor P7450 does not support the Intel VT-x and this is mentioned on Intel page:

I have obtained a few old panasonic cf- toughbooks None of them included the hard drive caddy with the proprietary ide connector needed to install a hard drive Instead of buying the caddies I thought I would try to boot into a linux distro from a USB flash drive I had to use a special grub floppy because there enable host controller in usb bios is no cd drive only a floppy After all that I discovered that the USB host controller is not turned on when it first boots up I tried to enable usb host controller in bios find BIOS updates that would activate usb booting but no luck I thought I would ask if anyone has any ideas as to how I can get these laptops to boot from a flash drive I figured if I could get the base address for the usb controller I could enable usb host controller in bios edit the BIOS binary file that I have now to see if I could enable it but I don t know how to get the base address Any ideas nbsp
No ideas at all? I figured I would need to probably have to figure out how to flash the bios and reprogram it myself, which I don't know how to do. I guess with I2c? Does this seem to make sense to anyone? I see over 200 views but no replies. Am I just speaking jibberish nonsense?
I'm purchasing a new SSD next week. I've been reading up on it and it looks like I need to enable AHCI in my BIOS. I can't find any option for AHCI though.
I currently have my System setup as RAID0. This was how it was set up in the factory and I haven't changed it.
The only option I have is under SATA operation and I can either set it to "RAID Autodetect/ATA" or "RAID ON".
Is there anyway I can check to see whether AHCI is already enabled? If not will one of the above options enable it?
Some motherboards incorporate AHCI SATA automatically. In the early days of SATA there was a lot of confusion in terminology. "RAID" - "AHCI" - all the same thing.
For your motherboard it looks like you want to choose "RAID Autodetect/ATA" to use a non-RAID setup with AHCI.
I need to enable Intel V-x in Windows 10 ,and I have followed the steps to go to the UEFI but when I go to the UEFI there is only BIOS setup that does not list the Intel processor. I am trying to setup up my home computer to work with WOL. I have selected the "Allow this device to being the computer out of standby" in the Device Manager under Network Adapters. After doing a google search, I have also discovered that I need to enable WOL in my computer BIOS settings. I have reached the BIOS settings, but I cannot find any selection to enable WOL. I think the computer is new enough (2 years old) to be WOL compatible, though. How do I turn it on in BIOS? There appears to be no manual for this motherboard, and there is nothing about it in the Dell XPS 400 Owner's Manual.

I built a computer back in 2009 with an Intel DP55KG motherboard running Windows 7. So, I am getting for a fresh Windows 10 install and I noticed that back in 2009 I never enabled the UEFI boot mode. Would it be recommended to enable it this time before the Win 10 install, or will it bring about some issues?
Here is the definition of the setting according to the motherboard manual:
OPTIONS: ? Enable ? Disable
Enables or disables Unified Extended Firmware Interface (UEFI) Boot. UEFI Boot must be enabled in order to boot to a drive larger than 2 TB (terabytes). Enable: BIOS will attempt to boot via UEFI before using the legacy boot sequence. Disable: BIOS will use the legacy boot sequence.
Not sure if this is a Boot or Operating System issue so let me know if I need to move this to the other board. I'm trying to enable virtualization on my computer, which can only be done from BIOS (or apparently in the case of Windows 10 UEFi). I've followed various tutorials online to access UEFI (Shift + Restart > Troubleshoot), but when I get to the troubleshoot menu where there should be access to UEFI-Firmware, there's just a link to Startup Options/Settings (I can't remember the name of it exactly as obviously I don't have it in front of me right now). From what I've read the access to UEFI can vary depending on manufacturer, so I was wondering if HP might have moved access to UEFI somewhere else? Any help ASAP would be much appreciated as I need access to this to study!
Hi, You should be able to access this as follows. Shutdown the notebook. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. I am trying to install Windows 7 from a DVD to an HP 19-2113w All-in-One with Windows 8.1 as the factory install. I have entered the BIOS, turned off Secure Boot, restarted, and entered the code to confirm that I want to disable Secure Boot. Upon restarting and going back into the BIOS, Secure Boot shows it is "Disabled." HOWEVER -- when I then go into the boot options and try to enable the legacy boot devices, it gives me a message saying "You must disable Secure Boot before you may configure this option." As I previously stated -- Secure Boot shows "Disabled" when I check under the security tab. How much more disabled can it get? Am I missing something here? Is there any other way to install Windows 7 from a DVD onto this computer?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/Bios-Will-Not-Let-Me-Enable-Legacy-Boot-Even-When-Secure/td-p/5726166

I'm trying to find out how to access BIOS to enable the VT-x setting, currently it is disabled in the BIOS for all CPU modes(VERR_VMX_MSR_ALL_VMX_DISABLED).I tried the reboot, pressing f10 but it still brings me right to windows and not to BIOS. Thanks for any help!Vani
Vani-G, welcome to the forum. I suggest that you try tapping the Esc key as soon as the computer begins to boot. This will take you to a Menu where you can access the BIOS. I am not certain, however, if you will have the VT-x setting. HP doesn't always have all of the options to allow special features of components. Had issue with boot drive, so replaced and re-loaded Windows Vista OS.
Decided to add original drive to grab some data; so installed the old drive in Sata Port 2. The drive did not work -- I thot is might be a bad SATA cable, so started switching things around.
Net is -- drive works fine if new boot drive is in SATA port 0; and prior hard drive is plugged in SATA port 1 (where CD had been plugged). Copied data, etc.
So -- knew I needed to ENABLE SATA Port 2 in BIOS -- but when I go there -- those items are 'Greyed out' and not selectable.
KEY QUESTION - Is there some other change that has to be made to enable SATA ports in BIOS? I went in Device Manager -- found the 'controller' entry -- but nothing seemed out of place there.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Under Integrated Peripherals in the BIOS are the SATA ports greyed out even if there is a device plugged into one of them? I wish your manual would show illustrations of the BIOS pages but they don't.

Just unboxed an NB10-A and applied our standard policy of setting a supervisor password on the bios.
Now when I enter the bios setup during boot it defaults to non-supervisor mode and I can find no way to get it to prompt me for the password to allow me to make changes.
Does anyone know what I'm overlooking? All options are greyed out and I can't make it ask me for a password.
> Now when I enter the bios setup during boot it defaults to non-supervisor mode and I can find no way to get it to prompt me for the password to allow me to make changes.
Usually if the supervisor password has been set, you can access the BIOS pressing F2 button.
Now you have to insert the Supervisor Password or you can proceeds with limit access to different BIOS options by pressing the F11 button.
If you have inserted the right supervisor password, you could delete it again in the BIOS security tab.
Usually you have to insert the right supervisor password and have to press ENTER twice just to delete it. Then save the changes
Here an short description what the supervisor password does.
I have a legacy intel pc thats chugging along pretty well. I currently dont have the option to boot from USB. However it seems a later version of the bios solves the problem but I wanted advice before I do anything and also pointers on how to update, if thats the way to go.
Motherboard: Intel D815EEA
I downloaded a document from intel which seems to suggest version EA81510A.86A.0051.P11.0051
and above have USB boot enabled from the BIOS.
Should I upgrade and how do i do it?
If it's an OEM (brand name) PC, you should only use BIOS updates supplied by that manufacturer (via their website), as those direct from Intel may not be the right one for that board, so you could end up with a non-working PC and no easy way to fix it.
I am currently trying to install Docker toolbox on my HP 4530s (Windows 10 pro) machine.
I have tried to access the UEFI firmware via the path:
[ Windows desktop > Settings > update & Security > Recovery > Advanced Startup (Restart Now) > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > ..... .
I was supposed to see the < UEFI Firmware settings> here, but rather, i get a "Return to previous known build" option.
I then tried to access my BIOS but I cannot remember my BIOS password from 4 years ago.
i will really need the best of help i can get on recovering the password or more specifically - ensuring I enable my Intel VT-x.

I have a 1 yr old dell vostro 3400 and for most of that year the wireless worked perfectly. Recently I have no wireless: I cannot set up or connect to anything, and nothing is visible. When I go to control panel\network and internet\manage wireless networks, is says "Wireless is not currently enabled." I know about the little toggle on the laptop's exterior, and that is in the correct setting. I ran a hardware check from the BIOS and all relevant hardware is properly working. When I go to registry editor though, some of the files in System\CurrentControlSet\services\Wlansvs\Parameters have no values set to them (I didn't set them like that).
Do you have any ideas on how I can reenable wireless or is there a list of default working values for those files?
This may help and won't hurt.
From the cmd prompt/admin run sfc /scannow and see if it give a clean bill of health. In the past have you run any registry cleaners or tune up programs? Have you had to remove and virus or the such?
I jsut installed 4GB of RAM on my Tecra A9 PTS52E; but Windows 7 tells me it can only use 2.99 GB of RAM. In order to get more out of the memory I read that I have to enable "memory remapping" in my BIOS. But where do I find that? I have BIOS version 2.10-WIN installed... If I'm not mistaken this is the most recent version for my model...?
If you installed 32bit Windows 7, you won't get more than 3GB due to 32bit addressing limitations.
If you have 64bit Windows 7, the 1GB is probably being used by the graphics chip (GPU) as Video RAM.
I have a Dell Inspiron 13 - P57G.
One of the most important features of the offered by Intel Skylake mobile CPUs series is Speed Shift, which improves CPU battery and speed performance. However, this featured came disabled on this model current latest BIOS (version 1.08). And there is no setting that allows to enable it. Other laptop manufacturers have this feature enabled in their current line of laptops. Dell support, please provide a BIOS that has this feature enabled or switchable.
Hello! So i looked up Inspiron 13 P57G and it states its an Inspiron 7347 which came with 4th Gen Intel 4xxx series i3 and i5 processors, not skylake which is 6th gen 6xxx series. My older brother has a Toshiba Satellite laptop. In his configuration, he has enabled fast boot up, thus, upon power up, the initial splash screen doesn't show but straight to the windows login screen. Now, I wanted to access the BIOS but I don't know how. I tried pressing DEL (for the BIOS setup) but since he has once enabled fast boot up in the BIOS settings itself, I can no longer do so. It always goes straight to the logon screen. Please help guys. I've tried searching the forum for possible same case/s but to no avail.
I just googled how to enter the BIOS on a toshiba and saw several suggestions, including:
escape key for 3 seconds, followed by F1.

I'm having some trouble with my ASUS BIOS. It is possible one of the reasons which is not letting me enable AGP Texture Acceleration (from DXDIAG). So now I need to update it. Ive read that you can 'flash' this however it seems quite complicated. I read the procedure here - http://www.planetamd64.com/lofiversion/index.php?t11803.html. Personally i dont think i have that ability to literally take apart my PC and dont want to risk that. Is there anything I can do to enable AGP Texture Acceleration w/o updating bios?
I have tried many driver versions. Here is my info
ASUS A8V Deluxe Mobo
Chipset VIA K8t800 pro
CPU: AMD Athlon 64+ 3500+ Socket 939
Current BIOS version : 1017.002 (date: 11/14/2005 - very old)
GFX is a ATI Radeon 9600 Series
Any help si appreciated. thanks in advance.
Hi, linkzor. I looked up your motherboard on the Asus site, and the bios updates they have listed for your motherboard are not even worth upgrading to. They don't list anything about fixing agp texture acceleration, either. However, if you still want to flash your bios, simply visit the asus support website, download their auto-flash bios tool and your bios, and it does everything for you. you do NOT need to take apart your pc.
Also, Perhaps your video card does not support agp texture acceleration?

When will Dell enable Intel Speed Shift via a BIOS update? All the BIOS update requires is requires is writing 1 to MSR 0x770!
Speed Shift was fully supported by Intel and Microsoft in 2015 (1 year ago!). It makes the CPU much more responsive (particularly in gaming and real-time tasks) and costs nothing.
In the meantime, anyone can run software manually to enable Speed Shift but you need to relaunch the software every time your computer sleeps or turns off, so that is inconvenient. But the boost in performance is worth the effort.
I have manually enabled SpeedShift via software such as ThrottleStop or just writing 1 to MSR 0x770.
Dell - can you get Speed Shift into the next BIOS revision?!?!

This is a older desktop, and when I was trying to install a USB bluetooth Kinivo BT 400 some how the Dell 655 Bluetooth Module popped up. I was told years ago from dell that this did not come w/ Bluetooth installed.
I called Kinivo support and said that probably my wireless card did have the Bluetooth built in.
Kinivo support suggested that I restart and hit the F2 key to get into the BIOS. I did that and am a loss where to find the Bluetooth to turn off.
I have used the Kinivo BT-400 for a few years no w/o a problem, but I just purchased a Bluetooth speaker and I must of did something wrong to get this 365 to show up and block my working Kinivo.
Hope I explained this so somebody would understand. I also was told by just disabling the 365 in the device manager would not turn it off
I looked at one Alienware Aurora on the Dell site. There is nothing in the BIOS, for that one that I looked at, for Bluetooth.
I would just disable it in the Device Manager.
Dell has a special support forum for Alienware users. You could also ask there. Be sure to state the specific Aurora model, as there are several.

I've recently installed a wireless lan in my office. I have Roadrunner cable coming into their router which in turn is attached to a Linksys router. I have one desktop (Dell) running XP Pro hardwire to the router. I also have a laptop and another desktop connected via wireless. I've seen all over the place that you should not enable file sharing. So, how do you allow acces from one computer to another. I've set them all up on the same workgroup.....what am I missing? I've been able to send print from the wireless laptop to the printer attached to the wireless desktop. It's just the folders I'm having problems accessing.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Where exactly have "I've seen all over the place that you should not enable file sharing".
If you don't that is fine. But then you can't share files. Just a choice to make.
With a router you should be reasonably protected.
Could anyone tell me the advantages and disadvantages of disabling cache writing on the priming HDD? Thanks in advance
I think the default setting is usually to enable it?
I have a dim understand of it from memory. As I recall, enabling it provides slightly faster performance but has a slight risk of data corruption in cases of a bad shutdown--like from a power outage. It can also have consequences when using RAID.
The geekiest thing to do is to enable it, but use a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to eliminate the risk from power failure.
Me? I've always left it enabled and haven't knowingly suffered any negative consequences.
Does anyone knows whether the Acer Aspire 5253-BZ661 laptop has a built-in bluetooth device in it? installed intel ac-3160 dual band + blue tooth in a Sony notebook system wont allow blue tooth to start.
also there is no interface available to connect any hardware to it, i know it has something to do with some Vaio software on the system.
it allows me to use dual band mode and it shows that blue tooth is present but disables it claiming interference with 2.4 GHz band.
now i have had blue tooth dongles installed working while using 2.4 GHz band before with no issues, so i don't get the issue now.
any input would be appreciated.

So i spent the entire day trying to figure out why my Bluetooth installed fine but after one restart it disappeared and it wouldn't come back. I finally figured it out that the FN+F2 (wireless/bluetooth switches) is what enables/disabled it HAHAHAHAHA.
default (after startup): WiFi on / BT off
first time: WiFi on / BT ON yay~!
second time: WiFi off / BT on
third time: WiFi off / BT off
I hope this helps people with their bluetooth issues =)
Windows 8 was able to install all my Function Keys so I'm going to assume this will be the case for others. Good luck
I recently installed the latest version of the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack (v9.10.32T) for one of my desired applications to properly function. However, connecting my Bluetooth headphones through Toshiba's bluetooth manager does not seem to support the media buttons on the headset. These include Play/Pause and seek buttons. Before the Bluetooth stack, when I used my default bluetooth driver for connection, these controls had worked fine.
Also, there does not seem to be a specific setting to fix this in the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack Options.

I just set up win 8 on my computer and was going thru the process of connecting my bluetooth mouse and my bluetooth keyboard. My mouse connected automatically, no problems. When I went to connect my keyboard I got the usual prompt asking you to enter the code, but the code was not accepted no matter how many times I tried. I know for a fact that this keyboard works, because it works fine on my Win 7 OS on the same computer. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciatedhttp://www.eightforums.com/drivers-hardware/9903-bluetooth-issues-sony-bluetooth-keyboard-vgp-bkb1.html
I followed the steps to pair a JBL Flip 3 Speaker with the HP Pavilion via bluetooth. Despite being paired, the speaker didn't sound and also the wi-fi connection was blocked, stoping my Internet browser. Please help me to solve this issue.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Wireless-and-Networking/Does-Bluetooth-controler-support-Stereo-Audio-Bluetooth/td-p/5699465

Okay so I don t really know if a solution is out there but here is the situation I m in I only have one discovered bluetooth devices Logitech Bluetooth receiver by not available USB port left which I am currently using for the Logitech Bluetooth dongle that came with my Logitech K solar keyboard I would also like to attach my Samsung wep headset for Bluetooth devices not discovered by Logitech bluetooth receiver Skype calls I have tried to discover the headset with and without Logitechs software installed with no luck I then checked device manager which does not show the dongle as a Bluetooth receiver device My assumption from that is that Logitech has it setup Bluetooth devices not discovered by Logitech bluetooth receiver to only receive from their own devices Since I have no room for another dongle and a hub isn t really ideal Is there some way to force the dongle to detect normal Bluetooth devices I ve searched for a custom driver or other work around with no luck so far This is on a computer running Windows bit nbsp
