I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Custom form factor requirement makes Quantum DOA. White box manufacturers won't touch it..only the Alienwares and the like will even give it a shot and they won't move enough units to make it viable.

Hey everyone...
Currently, I have the ATI Rage Fury Pro/Xpert 2000 Pro Graphic Card and I am thinking of getting the ATI All in Wonder Radeon 7500. I just want to make sure that this is a good decision. Im almost positive that this card is better than what I already have but just making sure. Is it better?

Oh BTW.... It's totally offtopic but ok... How can i tell how much power supply im getting right now? (Sorry if the question maybe seem stupid)

OK, I know it shouldn't be done and I shouldn't bother, but how can I have users with different levels of security in XP Home?

My options now are

Administrator or Restricted

thats good and all but my client wants to set his son as restricted but then he can't run pre XP computer games.

I have tried running them in windows 95, 98 2000 whatever compatability modes to no result.

have also tried hacking the boot ini to let me boot up in safe mode and changeing the folder permissions for that user but this also does not work.

it is thus very annoying that only the Admin users can play these old games and not 'restricted' users any advice?

Ok, I got a friend who has a:

K7 Triton 400 Gigabyte Motherboard
Model: GA-7VAX-A

And a Fury Rage Pro video card

has a problem.. He JUST GOT his new motherboard and now when he tries to run anything in 3D his computer stalls or everything goes black. His video card worked fine with his old motherboard so I just assume it's a compatibility issue. Can anyone help? RSVP.

A:GA-7VAX-A and Fury Rage Pro don't mix... -_-

Ideally, you would not want to use such an old card with a new motherboard. Without looking up the specs on this board I assume it only does AGP 1.5V cards not 3.3V cards which the Rage Pro might be?

Another question... was the harddrive formated and all the new drivers installed for all the hardware(downloaded from the internet) or was the harddrive moved from another system with windows 98 already installed? If moved this could be the problem - soemthings moving Windows has odd side effects if it is not format and reinstalled.

Hi, I am building a new computer and I want to go with a dual screen setup. I was wondering if I should go with a GTX 670 2GB GPU or two Sapphire Radeon 7870s. If not specifically these cards, let me know what you think.
Is it better to have a single GPU with dual DVI output or two slightly cheaper GPUs using crossfire?

A:Dual Screen, Dual DVI GPU vs. 2 Single DVI GPUs

The only thing that changes is the graphics performance you will have.
Two Sapphire HD 7870s beat a single GTX 670, but I'm not a Crossfire fan, so I suggest you to get a faster single GPU, because a lot of applications won't use multi-GPU technology.

A:Please, evaluate my W10 / W7 dual boot project.

That will basically work, but if it was me I would put both OSs on same 500 GB drive and use 3TB drive for data.

Two main reasons

1) boot sectors all reside on same drive as OSs

2) You can image backup 500 GB drive to 3TB drive.

So I would restore image of 7 to 550 GB drive, shrink C drive as much as you want, then install 10 in unallocated space.

Radeon 9000, i have a primary monitor in the monitor spot, and a VGA cable attached to the card as well.

If i go into display, i can activate the second monitor (VGA) , and it will work just fine.

I want the VGA to boot up as the primary monitor.

I have tried
Disconnecting the regular monitor during boot
Changing around a little bit of bio's (compaq bios suck)
Updating drivers.

Is there anyone to just swap the display settings (making the vga port primary) and forcing it to save as the default???

You will need to convert the file or it will be displayed in Compatibility Mode with reduced functionality. Then, you can resave the project as a 2010 format.

OK, I've got the two monitors hooked up to the splitter cable, I open "personalize" display and it tells me monitor two is "not active".

It does, however, display Monitor 1 as a clone.

How do I activate the second monitor so that when I extend the desktop I can open up windows separately?

Something in the driver configuration I'm missing?

A:Dual Monitors in ATI Radeon HD 3200

Follow-up based on some advice here:

In Catalyst, Monitor will enable for 1 second or so and then become disabled again.

I am therefore unable to "extend the desktop" to enable multiple applications as intended.

So where do I go and what do I need in order to permanently engage Monitor 2?

Both are Dell flat screens, FWIW, attached to a Dell Inspiron

Same Exact Problem!

I am having the exact same problem. I have a Dell XPS 410 and got this video card from Dell. They won't support it because its not their card. Can't get any help from Vision Tek either - they send you to Dell.

My main monitor is a flat screen digital and my secondary monitor is a flat screen analog. At first I thought it might be that the analog cable just didn't like using the analog to dvi adapter, but after switching the cables around the other monitor went black.

Have tried every possible solution I could think of, but nothing works. If anyone has a fix for this please let us know! I am guessing its a driver issue.

Hey guys,

First of all I would like to say hi. Anyways, today I decided to give a try to windows 8. Installation was smooth but the only problem I am having is the color difference between my monitors.

I am using a Dell laptop, and external monitor Philips. At my laptop screen it shows the fish background, and other stuff blue. But my external monitor shows the same fish background as cyan. Same for taskbar.

I checked color profiles, I checked calibration but nothing helped. Win 8 installed all the drivers automatically and it says Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5000 series (Engineering Sample- WDDM v1.20)

I couldn't be sure about the real cause of issue, so I didn't installed the Ati drivers. So what can be the reason for this weird color problem?

Note: Everything is fine on Win7.

Any ideas what could possibly be the problem?

Obviously, the three monitors were working under Vista.

Hi, I ordered a custom built PC and selected to have x2 ATI Radeon HD 5770 in CrossFire mode and I have been having problems that I believe are linked to one or both Video Cards malfunctioning or something. They are both seated properly and fans working and the temperature and PSU isn't an issue.

My DXDIAG seems to only see 1 Display Device (or something?) cause they are both 1GB cards but DXDIAG is showing only 724MB.

Is there something I have to do in the BIOS or with Software to Enable/Initiate CrossFire mode for the 2nd card to kick in? I have CrossFire Mode turned on in Catalyst Control Center...

A:How to Troubleshoot? ATI Radeon HD 5770 (Dual Cards)

When Crossfire is enabled it should only show as one card as it is two working as one.

The memory reading is a reporting error between the driver and Windows. An uninstall and re-install of the driver. It could also be a bug in the current driver you have installed. If it showed correctly in a previous driver then it is a bug in the current one, and likely disappear in the next.

Also when it does read correctly it won't show up as 1 GB either (don't forget that Crossfire or SLI for that matter doesn't double the amount of available video memory), but it will show up as a value of this,

Video Memory Virtualization - A Brief Guide

P.S. it also isn't an AMD specific bug either as it has happened to Nvidia cards as well,

I have one small monitor hooked up through DVI - works fine.

Then I have a Sony Bravia 42" HDTV hooked up through VGA at the same time in extended mode - the screen resolution options dont show 1920x1400, it only goes up to 1600x1200.

I'm using1360x768 now and it works but I have to zoom in on the picture. How I can I get 1920x1400 to show up in the resolution options? Seems like this should be straight forward. Messed around in the ATI Control Center with no luck.

When I had vista installed, hooking up the same TV through VGA was no issue.

My lappie has a 9200 Radeon mobility. The problem is Video cannot be shown on the secondary display.

In order to play video on an external display (via sVideo or vga) you have to set that display as the primary display. And lcd as 2ndary.

Compaq (yes, part of the problem) has said this is because there is only one Graphcs processor. ? Seems like BS to me, though I know squat about video cards. Is something dedicated solely to codec decoding?

Since the solution (switching Primary/Secondary display) is a software one, their answer seems wrong to me.

Any suggestions, articles to read, etc. would be appreciated.

hi single an monitors x200? a on ati output radeon dual through i m a graphic deisgn student and so running dual monitors allows me to have multiple adobe programs running whilst i m working my presario sr has an on board integrated ati radeon x i recently tried to install a dual monitor pci card that i couldnt find the manufacturor for it came from an old dell so assume if it was anything good it would firstly work and secondly have a brand somewhere on it or at the very least have some of driver s somewhere on the web to cut a long story short the card didnt work dual monitors on a single output through an ati radeon x200? and just ed up my system however when i got back to returning the system to the normal integrated graphics set up i found that dual monitors on a single output through an ati radeon x200? the radeon x supports dual monitors itself i only have a single video output from the integrated card but can i use a signal splitter or does the x only support dual monitors when its fitted as a non integrated pci card would like to know as i m wasting a lot of time fiddling around and if its a simple as a splitter cable i ll be over the moon any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks nbsp

A:dual monitors on a single output through an ati radeon x200?

You need a video card with two outputs .. or maybe two video cards.
A splitter won't do you any good.
Better have a strong computer for several Adobe's running.

And Welcome to the TSG forum

Under my digital flat panels in catalyst control center,
there are selections to enable HD resolutions.
Might try enabling 1080p and select that resolution
for your HD monitor.
Might also check windows display properties.
You may need to right click the second monitor and click attached.

I'm using a Radeon HD 3450 on Windows 7 with Catalyst 10.7

My monitor is connected through the VGA port, and it works fine.

I tried to connect my HDTV (LG 50PK350) as a second monitor through the HDMI port (on TV & HD3450). The TV (as 2nd monitor) is not detected and there is no signal on my TV.

The connection appears fine, as when I click 'Detect Displays' in CCC, the pc monitor screen flickers and tries to connect but eventually fails. (same using Windows 7 Display properties!).

I am using a brand new HDMI 1.4 cable.

Any ideas?

A:Dual Monitor (HDTV) Problem Radeon HD3450

Card have VGA, DVI and HDMI ports? If so the reason it won't work with the HDMI and VGA at the same time is both of those ports are running through the same RAMDAC, and only one of them can be used at a time.

If you can hook your monitor up to the DVI port using either a DVI cable, or if the monitor doesn't have a DVI port on it the card should have come with a DVI-VGA adapter. If it didn't you should be able to find one fairly cheaply, like this one, - SAPPHIRE DVI to VGA adapter for Twin-View video cards Model DVI-2-VGA - Video Card Accessories

I have a Thinkpad A31 recently upgraded to Window 7.  The laptop is on a docking station and has 2 monitors connected.  After the upgrade to Windows 7 only one monitor works.  Windows 7 uses the generic video driver and I do not know which is the correct video driver to install.  I believe the Thinkpad uses an ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 video card.  Thank you.

A:Dual monitor Windows 7 ATI Radeon Mobility driver

There is no "correct" driver to install for Radeon 7500/9000, or even the stronger FireGL 7800. None of these GPUs are supported by W7 or Vista.
Some modded drivers are available on the web, but none of them worked the way it should for me, so I just abandoned the whole idea of moving my A31p to W7 and went back to XP.

I have an Alienware M17X R2 which runs on two HD Radeon 4870 mounted in crossfire. After format, the latest drivers recommended by Dell (there are some new ones but never got them to work) were reinstalled without problem. If everything seemed to work fine, unfortunately after a little while the display starts to flicker going from blue to orange over and over, sometimes black and white.

The device manager or Catalyst software do not detect any problem.

The computer remains responsive and after restart everything is back to normal for a little time.

Sorry if I did not provide the info needed, please let me know if you need me to run any particular diagnostic.

My main concern at this point is to determine if this is a hardware or software problem.

Thanks for your time and help,

I don't know if I can help you but those that can will need to know
EXACTLY what power supply you have.

Off the top of my head a power supply of quality with a least 650W, and 4 PCI-e connectors.

I recently upgraded to vista ultimate from xp pro,on my xp setup I had a dvi to hdmi cable going into my tv which i use to watch movies etc through the pc. I had it set up as an extended desktop so I could still use the normal monitor while the movie played on the tv.
I have exactly the same setup now I have vista ultimate installed, but if i drag vlc or windows media over to the extended desktop and try to full screen it, it jumps back to the pc monitor and fullscreens on that one. Any ideas how i can get it to fullscreen on my tv?

A:Radeon Graphics Card / Dual Monitors Issue

Someone may have a better answer. But whenever I've seen issues such as this where software won't retain settings, or something works for a short time but continiously breaks in the same way, it's typically a sign of an OS/registry...and a fresh install of the OS will usually resolve the issue.

HI. I have a Samsung HD monitor and a VGA SuncMaster Samsung monitor. The HD monitor is what I use on my desktop all the time. I am wanting to have dual monitors to use on occasion and use both these at the same time with a mirror image. The graphic card ATI Radeon HD 5450 has a place for my HD and VGA slots. Win 7 recognizes both monitors, BUT my HD monitors resolution is not HD anymore but the VGA monitor is good.

How do I get the settings to be the same as it is on my HD monitor and then display the mirror image to the VGA monitor????

Thanks so much, Tammy

A:ATI Radeon HD 5450 Dual Monitors HDMI & VGA Resolution Problems

Are you sure what you want is to DUPLICATE the contents of both monitors (referred to as "clone mode")? You want to show the identical desktop content on both monitors identically and simultaneously?

Or do you want to EXTEND the Windows desktop to run horizontally across both monitors, so that your Windows desktop is pretty much "double wide"? This allows you to drag windows onto one or the other monitor, and open up independent program windows on either monitor to meet your needs (e.g. to look at two open program windows independently presented on each of your monitors).

If you run the dual-monitor setup in EXTEND mode (with one of the monitors called "primary" monitor for Windows and the other monitor known as the "extend/secondary" monitor) then each monitor can be configured to run at its own native/optimal resolution, independent of what the other is configured at. So if you have a CRT (typically 4:3 or so) it can run at say 1280x1024 or 1600x1200 or 1440x900 or something like that, while your flatscreen/TV (typically 16x9 or 16x10) can run at say 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 or 1680x1050 or something like that. So you'd get FULL use of both monitors at their native/optimal resolutions, and maximum width of the effective combined Windows desktop.

If instead you do really want to run the two monitors in "clone mode", then you only have a Windows desktop that is the smaller of the two monitors. And you will be running the larger monitor at the resolution of the smaller monitor, which is exactly what is meant by "clone mode" aka DUPLICATE. Furthermore, if the pixel height of the 16x9 monitor is not large enough to accept the pixel height of the 4:3 monitor, then the resolution Windows decides on has to be reduced so as to be a compatible resolution acceptable to both monitors. So if the 4:3 monitor can run at 1600x1200 but the 16:9 monitor is say 1920x1080, you cannot run 1600x1200 as the DUPLICATE resolution, since 1200 vertical cannot be displayed on the 1080 vertical monitor. So Windows will probably show 1440x1080 or maybe 1440x900 as the maximum possible resolution, again so that it is compatible with simultaneous DUPLICATE display onto both screens.

Bottom line: if you have two different shaped monitors, with two different resolutions, and you want to utilize "clone mode", then you will only be able to select a maximum resolution that is compatible with BOTH screens at the same time. That's what DUPLICATE means, and the same resolution output will be sent to both screens. So inevitably the larger screen will look odd or distorted or will have black bars on left and right so as to retain the same aspect ratio as is showing on the smaller screen, or else it will be "zoomed/distorted" horizontally to fill the entire larger screen width but really only the desktop width appearing on the smaller screen will be what is shown.

Now, what do you really want to do?

hey guys, i need a hand with my monitoring.

i have just installed a radeon 6870 (which supports 6 monitors. it has 2 hdmi outs, 1 dvi out and 2 mini dvi outs. i want to set up 2 monitors. i currently have 2 hdmi cables going to my lcds, but windows 7 will only register the main monitor. in the display settings there is no second monitor and no option to extend the dekstop across the 2 monitors. the 2nd lcd is showing no signal even though it it plugged in correctly.

any ideas? also i was thinking of getting dvi cables as the images are sharper, but would i have the same problem using the mini dvi outs?

any help is appreciated.

I just bought a use drive. I tried to install it in two different computers as drive C: It came up Invalid Drive Specification. Is the drive bad? I tried to Install it manually but I didn't know How?
It is a Quantum Fireball 1ct Drive. It has markings LB 10.Dat 165131-001 on it. Is there a way I can get this drive to work?

A:Used 10 Gig Quantum Drive

Hi- There should be some other markings on the drive....if you look on the case side, or top, there should be a label with this info:

That is what you would type in for manually installing a drive in the BIOS screens....along with some other things like Landing Zone and Precomp....the best way is to set the BIOS settings for the drive, if it is your main bootup drive, or C:, to AUTO and see if BIOS will set it up automatically. Most will, some older machines may have a problem with that size drive, but you can partition it into smaller sections. Try to install it AUTO may have to clear the CMOS settings. Either power down and pull the CMOS battery out for several minutes, or you might have to move the jumper over a pin to the CLR position...older boards are different, it may say Clr NVRAM. After that, Setup or BIOS defaults will be loaded, and if you have any manually made changes from before, they may disappear, it is a good idea to record all settings, but it does take time and effort to do this. If you are unfamiliar with exact settins all through the BIOS, it is a must do. The Default settings are generally a bootable configuration, but there are many different BIOSes and no one set of rules apply. It depends on the age of the system and what hardware you have installed and how you use it all.
Check that if the drive is a single drive on the Primary IDE cable, you jumper it that way, or as a Master drive if it is cabled with another drive or CDROM drive. CD drives in general belong on the 2ndary IDE port and cable, though it is not always possible.
The drive LED light should come on briefly, CD drive too, at bootup, and the floppy drive...if lights stay on full time, usually a cable is backwards.
You may also sometimes set the CD drive as the Primary Boot drive/device in BIOS, so you can use the Windows CD as a bootdisk and run fdisk, format etc with the CD. You need to check the partitions the drive may have....see if it has any NON DOS....and DOS, or extended, and delete them, then create a Primary DOS. You may need to partition further if BIOS cannot see the entire size of the 10gig. You then need to reboot after using fdisk to delete/create partitions....then you need to format all partitions you make.
There is a lot to it- probably the drive is OK-
You could install it as a SLAVE drive in a working computer and check with should format the drive in place in the machine it will be used in. if you do put the drive in any other computers....remember to change the jumpers back to Master or Single setting, and cable it the right way to the motherboard, when you go to run fdisk, format and install as booting drive, C:/.

Here is my problem.

I have a quantum fireball plus as 10.2 gig hard drive.
A few weeks ago the house power shut off when I switched on the light, killing all power and of course shutting down my computer system. After rebooting, my quantum drive would not show in the bios and it produces only a short few clicks when powered up and it is not seen by the bios although the drive is spinning up.
I have checked the controller board and there are no signs of electrical damage but still it will not work.
Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved.

Thanks , Geoff.
