Preferred Solution: Wrieless Network connected but unable to get Internet

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi - My net book used to connect me to the internet automatically on my home wireless network. Suddenly it has decided not to. I have successfully input the WEP/WAP key and the netbook says it is connected, but when I try to open Internet explorer, it says- oops! Looks like your internet is down. I have not had any problems on my main PC?

What has happened and how do I fix it?http://b.tsgstatic.com/smilies/confused.gif

Thanks in anticipation

A:Connected to wireless network, but unable to access internet

What's the exact make and model of the wireless router, and what version of Windows are you running?
Let's see this from the machine.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

I'd like to see this as well.

Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework. For machines with no Internet connection, download this NET Framework 3.5 Full Package on another machine and transfer it with removable media to the problem machine.
To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

A:connected to wireless network but still unable to access internet

Set the wireless to 'obtain IP auto' and 'obtain DNS auto.'

Disable encryption on the router and try to connect. If successful you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect. If unsuccessful ...

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

I want to turn off my file sharing from the local and wireless networks in my office. Someone tried to snoop into my laptop.

So what I did was turn off (unchecked the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks) in Manage Network Connections... both local and wireless. Is that enough to stop the file sharing? I've deleted other users that i've not added myself.

Is there anything else I should do?

And also someone installed a yahoo logger into my computer. I intercepted it. I wanted to know the extension of the log file created by this logger.

Someone pls help!

Well, since both machines are experiencing issues, my guess is you have modem or ISP issues. Do this with a wired connection from the laptop to eliminate wireless issues.

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like:

If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different!
and your IP will be disguised.

Copy/paste that link here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.
DSLReports

Here's also the Line Quality Tests FAQ to help you understand the results. This will answer some questions about the line quality display.

Problem:
I have a PC that has to connect to a server through a modem for security reasons.
While it is connected to the modem, a screen needs to be printed.
The printer that is being used is connected to the local network.
While connected to the modem, attempting to print gives the error "The RPC server is unavailable."

System:
Windows XP Professional SP3
Printer server is Windows Server 2008
Modem is old 56k modem connected by serial port (don't think that matters)

What I've tried:
I have tried modifying the routing table to force connections to the subnet that the computer and printer are hosted on.
route -p add 10.1.0.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 10.1.61.0 METRIC 40 IF 0x2
ip for the PC is 10.1.61.53, ip for the printer is 10.1.61.22, IF 0x2 is the integrated NIC
The RPC service is running, and I have also started the RPC locator

Any suggestions what I should do next?

A:Unable to print to network printer while connected to modem

These are correct

ip for the PC is 10.1.61.53,
ip for the printer is 10.1.61.22, IF 0x2
but this is not

route -p add 10.1.0.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 10.1.61.0
and should not be necessary at all, if the PC gateway is on 10.1.61.x

Instead, get the output of ROUTE PRINT and post that

A warning in advance this is going to be a fairly long post I don't know a ton about troubleshooting but I'm not computer illiterate and I've tried quite an array of tests while trying to fix things on my own First of all my laptop is an HP Presario V GB AV I'm running windows I upgraded from vista last october I had problems once back in january with being unable to download windows updates At the time I found something suggesting that this could be due to a corrupted download and so I reinstalled win and everything worked fine Now about weeks ago I started up my laptop and although it showed up as being connected under network connections none of my applications which require the internet Internet shows to Internet connected but access unable work Edit I know that the problem isn't my ISP or the network I'm on since both the computer I'm currently using to post this my parent's desktop and my laptop connect to the same network And no were not using a router we can only have computer connected at a time We simply unplug the ethernet cable from one computer and put it into the other I've looked at my ipconfig settings and everything looks fine I even tried ipconfig release and ipconfig renew as well as ipconfig dnsflush just to be safe No luck with any of that Then I went and looked at the system logs and found that ever since about november of last year there have been intermittent problems with the BITS Internet shows connected but unable to access Internet service not starting More recently BITS has not been starting and Internet shows connected but unable to access Internet I've been getting error messages that server long number string if you'd like me to post it I can did not register with DCOM within the required timeout I tried reinstalling win since it fixed my problem before but no luck this time Since then I've been trying to make sure that all my drivers are up to date as several posts about intermittant note Internet shows connected but unable to access Internet my problem is constant not intermittent internet connectivity issues seemed to lead back to drivers needing updates However as far as I can tell all my device drivers are up to date I downloaded some diagnostic tools I ran HotCPUTesterLite through its diagnostic test hours twice and it didn't turn up any hardware errors One of the tools I downloaded pointed out that my bios was rather old so I updated that most recent version was for december I can't figure out what is causing my problem unless it is windows itself If anyone can shed some light here I'd greatly appreciate it or it looks like I may have to revert back to vista till microsoft gets things fixed

A:Internet shows connected but unable to access Internet

no ideas? I'm just about ready to give up and try doing a factory reset back to vista and hope that fixes things.

Edit: Just found out additional info about my network adapter, apparently theres been no downloads for it on the intel download center for OS's after win XP. But on a different page it said that there is "in box support" for it. Would this mean that the appropriate driver was included in my win 7 install, or that my adapter is outdated for win 7 and that is causing my problem? For Reference my computer is less than 3 years old and came initially installed with vista on it. My adapter is the Intel(R) Pro 100/VE Network Connection.

Hello friends! Retri11 here.

So I use a hardwire internet connection.... and lately I've been having issues with it. It seems to only occur at night and its every few days or so it says my connection is broken!

this irritates me because it only happens to me. So I have no idea to what is going on. I use wired I have wireless ( need to get code again thought) so if I don't respond my internet may be 'broken' again so to speak.

anyways that's all that is happening and it seems to fix itself when I reset my modem, if you have any ideas please give me your feedback.

A:Unable to stay connected to internet.

I am having trouble following you, so may I ask a few questions to help me understand your problem?

What type of cable internet service? DSL? Cable? Other?
Do you have a home network (computers connected through a router)? If so, please describe it.
When you say that it only happens to you, do you mean that others are connected to your network and can access the internet while you cannot?
If so, how are you connected and how are they? (wired or wireless?)
Can you open a command prompt from your computer, enter ipconfig /all, and post the results here?

Did you try uninstalling ad-aware? (Lol I don't think it helps any to get it from a warez site *winks*)
It sounds a little like a trojan.
And I don't belive NAV is the best Anti-virus. (I dunno I just read something like that on a fourm. Lol.)
You might wanna try AVG.

I'm unable to browse internet on my old p4/xp desktop pc, the internet
gets connected but it doesn't load any pages at all, neither the
browsers work nor any installer application works, it shows connection
error, i use a bluetooth or USB connection via my cell phone,. I can
browse internet via the same connection on my laptop but not on my
desktop, is it some virus/spyware or is it some hardware/software
settings issue? how to diagnose the problem? please help...
and yeah also suggest me any portable anti-virus that I can take from my
laptop to my desktop because there is no internet on my desktop so
can't update anything...

A:Connected to internet but unable to browse

Run some scans with general AV softwares, and it wouldn't harm to post a HJT log to the malware removal forum just to make sure the issue isn't malware related. If it isn't malware, try resetting the router. If this dosen't work, try disabling your network adapter and re-enabling. If none of these work, run CMD as an administrator, type in ipconfig /release, hit enter and wait. Then ipconfig /flushdns, after this, ipconfig /renew. One of these should help your problem. If not, nothing else comes to mind and I'm sorry that I cannot assist further.

EDIT: Make sure to do the CMD commands in that order, wait for them to complete each time.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 with a wireless connection. Although my laptop tells me I have excellent signal strength and my computer is connected, my browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE) will not let me browse. Other programs I have, such as spotify and Itunes allow me to for a short period of time before it kicks me off.

I have tried unplugging and resetting the modem, and when I flush my dns cache, the browsers work for a short period of time (max is 15 minutes) before they cannot work at all.

Any help in fixing this would be greatly appreciated!

A:I am connected to the internet but unable to use the browsers

Hi Safeguard,

My name is Srikanth and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.

Please check if you have the same problem in safe mode with networking, you can go to safe mode with networking by hitting F8 at the dell logo once you turn on the computer , Also try to run diagnostics on the wireless card from support center ->custom test->select the wireless card and click on RUN test. please check if more than one antivirus program is installed on the computer , if yes please uninstall one of the program. Also try to disable the ipv6 address you can follow this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929852

Please reply back to the post if problem still persists

I have been trying to connect my laptop to my home WIFI for a couple of days now. It has recognised the modem and recognises that it is working. It has also connected to the modem but claims that there is no internet available. I know there is because both my iPhone and iPad are connected to it and working very well (hence being able to post this).

I have been through many of these different forums and seen lots of different ideas as to what to do but non of it has worked for me.

The wording of the messages on screen, when I try and connect, is that I have limited connectivity to the modem and then when I try and trouble shoot it says that my "wireless network connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration".

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

A:Unable to view the internet despite being connected

Go to Start, Run, type cmd and press Enter. Now type ipconfig and press enter. It should report the IP Address for the Local Area Connection. Let us know what this is. It should be along the lines of 192.168.1.101. This will confirm that the router has given you an IP Address.

I upgraded my OS from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows Ultimate When all was done and over updates installed and so on I upgraded the Internet Explorer as well from Unable browse Internet to IM to or but connected IE included in the Win install to IE I used to have IE before on Vista A little bit after that I had to uninstall re-install the VPN client for my work and things started going south Currently after I start the computer the MSN Messenger is not working the Yahoo Unable to browse or IM but connected to Internet messenger is not working IE Firefox and Chrome are not working IE just hangs sometimes is displaying lt endif gt but it seems to find the sites because I can see the icon of the page changing Chrome is not able to connect even to google Unable to browse or IM but connected to Internet com but it let s me down nicely doesn t hog resources like IE does The Internet connection is fine because I can ping I can connect to my work s VPN sometimes even some https pages are briefly working Once I connect to the VPN everything works great Now comes the weird part after I connect to the VPN and disconnect the browsers work the IM works so something gets reset in that process and makes it fine but I have no idea what NOTE IE is still barely moving - you request a page go get a snack and maybe it has loaded I have looked at numerous threads on different forums and I tried a lot of stuff but nothing seems to solve the problem I tried the netsh winsock netsh int ipconfig flushdns msconfig to boot in safe mode I even uninstalled the antivirus remove the IE update from Win reinstalled it used netstat to see the connections etc etc So my question is what happens when VPN gets started that makes it possible for me to browse even after I disconnect from it nbsp

A:Unable to browse or IM but connected to Internet

I upgraded my OS from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate.Click to expand...

That's a pretty expensive upgrade. Especially considering that you didn't do it until almost three years after Windows 7 was released. Why? And from where did you purchase it?

So my question is what happens when VPN gets started that makes it possible for me to browse even after I disconnect from it?Click to expand...

Usually a VPN will block all other networking (resembles a firewall in that regard) when it is running. When you exit from it, it should stop blocking other networking. That seems to be working. Sometimes just having a VPN installed, but not in use, will cause networking trouble. So I think that your question should be, "why is my networking blocked before I use the VPN?".

Maybe some startup program that prepares for a quick start when you access the VPN? Maybe a firewall or security suite that is corrupted or mis-configured but somehow gets "fixed" by the VPN? Maybe something about just having the VPN installed that we won't be able to figure out?

So, I've had this problem for a few months now. I can connect to the internet just fine, and can surf the web with no problems. However, when I try to connect to the internet through another source, like, say iTunes or Sony's ereader library, an error pops up telling me that "You are not connected to the internet. Please check your network settings and try again." During this time, the internet in the browser is working without a problem. I have Vista Home Premium 32bit. Thank you!

A:Internet connected - unable to connect through other programs however

Welcome
Sounds like something is blocking your connection
Lets start with a clean boot and try to find out what
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
My guess would be the Firewall or AntiVirus

If that does not work
Run a full antivirus scan and download and run a full and updated malwarebytes.

If the above does not work, try in safe mode

If that does not work reset IE.
Internet Explorer - Reset

If that does not work try a system restore.
System Restore - How to

Proxy settings?

Make sure your settings are all correct. Time, region date etc

Right lets start from the beginning At the start Internet most websites! unable to connected, but connect to of march I decided to build my self a new Internet connected, but unable to connect to most websites! PC for gaming this was my first build which was a bit of a budget one at around The build went ok but I then needed to get a new router as we previously only had one computer in the house meaning we connected through a modem In the end we went for a different deal with the same provider which included a free router So I got everything connected up and it worked Hurrah Untill about two weeks ago Knew luck wasn t actually on my on my side for once So now that s enough of me rambling on about my life history It is time for the current problem I m not very complex with computers so you will have to bare with me Basically the internet will be connected but then when you load a web page such as bbc co uk it won t and then if you load anther webpage such as youtube com it will work if you try again in hours time ect It will be vise versa However the internet does work fine at times and not certain times it can be anywhere from late at night to peak times in the evening I have searched the web over and over but most of the similar problems are for just one computer where as my problem is on both my and the older XP which pretty much confirms I think that it is to do with the router rather than the computer When A page doesn t load it comes up with this message on chrome This webpage is not available Google Chrome could not load the webpage because www youtube com took too long to respond The website may be down or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection Error net ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT The operation timed out Anther factor I should probably mension is that I live out in the countryside and my speed never gets any higher than mb s Anyway thankyou for taking the time to read my long boring post and I hope you can help me with my Issue Cheers Dave nbsp

Hello all I ve been having some issues with my Internet connection for several months now but it is becoming increasingly annoying I m worried that it might be because of a virus or some hardware issue I ve tried looking around for help but no one seems to have my exact problem so I thought I d make an account here and try to get help on my personal case Basically my modem is happily connected to shutdown no to unable Internet, Connected Solved: with my laptop wirelessly but sometimes on startup I have no Internet access available I ve tried the usual quick fixes like unplugging the modem and plugging in again reconnecting but to no avail However when I try to restart the computer it gets hung up on the shutdown screen permanently and I have to force a shutdown This only ever happens when I m having Internet issues Usually once I Solved: Connected with no Internet, unable to shutdown start back up again everything goes back Solved: Connected with no Internet, unable to shutdown to normal and the Internet works again All other devices are perfectly fine with Internet so the issue is only on this laptop I only ever lose Internet access on startup not ever while using the Internet I tried getting help through Microsoft Tech Support and they suggested it might be a virus that s blocking the Internet and then running too many Solved: Connected with no Internet, unable to shutdown processes to let the computer shut down I have a full version McAfee and ran a scan with that with no results I then tried a free version of Malwarebtyes and also picked up nothing My laptop is an XPS L X running Windows The modem is a Netgear D Any help would be massively appreciated as I have no tech skills whatsoever Thanks in advance nbsp

But when we try to access a webpage it shows like "Cannot be displayed". I tried the same with a LAN cable connecting the laptop directly, and it works fine. What could be the problem behind this. Hi this is Suresh i have purchased a new HP laptop months ago I use to access internet without any issues and even now i am able to access Unable internet, to as LAN connect connection shows not connected. it using the BSNL datacard but when i hook the ethernet cable to my laptop sometimes the Unable to connect internet, LAN connection shows as not connected. LAN connection shows as enabled but the notification icon shows as not connected I have uninstalled the network driver and re-installed it as instructed by one of the tech support from HP After re-adding the driver the LAN connection shows as enabled the notification icon shows as identifying the network but after sometime it shows as UNIDENTIFIED NETWORK local access only but it will never acquire an IP Once i disable and re-enable the LAN connection it gives a msg as there is an IP conflict but this laptop is not connected to the network I tried even with the static IP but still no luck i have configured the LAN settings to acquire the IP address automatically and the DNS but still it is not acquiring the IP it simply shows as identifying the network and gives a msg as UNIDENTIFIED NETWORK I would really appreciate if anyone can help me to get this fixed Please let me know if you require any information

A:Unable to connect internet, LAN connection shows as not connected.

Hi, lose the automatically detect settings under "LAN" this is not want you want. Then go to device manager (start search devmgmt.msc) and locate your network card right click select uninstall if prompted do not uninstall the drivers reboot to take effect . Now go to start all programs accessories and right click on command prompt select "run as administrator" at the prompt type:-

Code:
netsh int ip reset press enter restart to take effect
Let us know how you get on.

I am in a dorm in NYC with multiple floors. All of the internet access is wireless. On the resident floors, 6-10, I can connect to the network, but not the internet. On any other floor there is no problem. The operating system is Vista.

The IT department hands out IPs, not putting computers in a work group.

I can walk to a floor with internet, connect, and walk the computer back up to the resident floors where the internet will work for a few minutes, then revert to simply the network, no internet.

I do not know and extensive amount regarding networking.

If the problem is a router near my floor, can I choose to connect to another? Other are apparently in range, which is why I can "walk" the internet up, but the computer prefers the one that is closer and may or may not work.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you

I've had a recurring problem with my Vista based desktop machine not connecting to the internet when it boots up. The computer has a wired connection to a Linksys WRT160N router and cable modem. When I start the computer, it often takes several reboots to get an internet connection and sometimes I can't get the internet unless I shut it down and leave it alone for 30 minutes or so. Rebooting the router and modem have no effect. It always gets a good network connection. Once I have the internet connection, it stays connected. Not sure what to check.

A:Connected to Network, but not internet (sometimes)

Hi Joe F,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

First I'd like to try an experiment. Connect directly from the PC to the Modem (bypassing the router if it is possible to do this given the connectors - if not, skip the rest of this and the next paragraph) and then go to Start / Control Panel / Network and Sharing Center / Setup a connection or Network / Connect to the Internet / Broadband / Fill in the necessary information and then click Connect and see if you can connect. If it works, open your browser and verify it works OK. Then Go to start and shutdown the computer.

Now restart the computer. I'm not sure if it will start automatically or not as we really didn't set that up but it might. Go to Start / Connect To and check the available connections. Your local connection should show but be disconnected since we aren't attached to the router. Look at the broadband connection and see if it is connected or not. If not, then select it and click on Connect. Fill in the username and password if it wants it (it may or may not - we didn't configure that either). See if it connects. If so it connected the first time without rebooting. Reboot a couple of times to confirm that you still don't have the same problem. If the connection continues to work, then we know that the problem is with the router setup or the local connection (if the internet goes through it). Whatever happens (if it works or doesn't work), give me all the details in your next post. If it does not work, then go to Start / All Programs / Accessories / Command Prompt and double-click to open it. Type ipconfig /all and enter. Scroll so all the broadband connection information appears and take a screenshot and attach it to your next post. That should help me understand how it is setup and may show me where the problem is.

Reconnect the computer and modem to the router and reboot. Then go to Start / All Programs / Accessories / Command Prompt and double-click to open it. Type ipconfig /all and enter. Scroll so all the local connection information appears and take a screenshot and attach it to your next post. That should help me understand how it is setup and may show me where the problem is. Make sure you name the two screenshots so I'll know which is which and save them as .jpg files before you attach them.

I hope this helps to identify the cause of the problem. Post back if you have any troubles along the way and I'll try to provide better details.

Thanks and good luck!

Hey all,

I just moved into an apartment with wireless shared by the whole floor. The wireless is secured with a password (which I have), however the ID is hidden and does not show up on the wireless lists. I've gotten my computer to connect to the wireless (finally!) but it won't connect to the internet. Anyone have suggestions other than the ID not being hidden (since that isn't under my control!)? Thanks!

Hi
Over the last few days it has become impossible for me to connect to the internet on my computer, I get the network show and get a very good signal strength and I am apparently connected but cannot actually do anything such as search the web or do anything that requires internet access, this is the same for the laptop in the house too.
We never had any problems until a few days ago when it jus stopped working randomly, we didnt alter anything so this is very confusing. Our router model is Edimax BR-6216Mg. Any help regarding this would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hey guys,

I have setup a spare computer that i have had at home as a small home server.

Now, it's not a normal home server. It's a computer that i has iTunes open all the time and shares the music as a library and then my family can connect via the network and gets songs they would like.

I want it on the network so i can access it, but has no access to the internet.

How can i do this?

Thanks,

Cohen

A:Having it connected to the network but not internet

Are you using wireless for your home network? If so, your network is one that gives all your machine access via WEP/WPA authentication. Once you are able to connect to your wireless network, either all or no machine can connect to the internet (provided you haven't made any filter changes on your router).

If your home uses wired networking, and you want to create a simple network to share files and internet, it's not hard either. There are countless tutorials on how to set up a simple network...consult google.com if you don't mind.

Hey everyone I have found network, connected internet not to but a great deal of help from looking on these forums before but this time I couldn't find the same problem so I connected to network, but not internet thought I would ask I'm having problems with my home network I find that I will be on the internet wirelessly with no problems then all of a sudden I lose internet connection but I still remain connected to the home network I have tried disconnecting and re-connecting to the network this usually doesn't help Occasionally that will help but then a couple minutes later I have the same problem I have tried running the diagnosis within the Network and Sharing Center Sometimes it will tell me that it doesn't detect a problem and sometimes it will detect a problem Then I try to reset the wireless adapter quot Wireless Network Connection quot and it will appear to have fixed it and when I try to re-load the page it times out and then I lose internet connection again The only thing that I have found that fixes the problem is to recycle power to the modem Pain in the ass The modem is connected to a desktop computer I don't remember what it's running but I know it's a version of XP and there are multiple laptops within the house that connect to it wirelessly and I'm the only one running Vista and the only one having problems The modem isn't very old so I'm not thinking that it's the modem so because I'm the only one having problems I'm assuming it's a Vista thing Anyone have any ideas Thanks Emily Anttila

I think this problem has been resolved with SP1.
Check if you have a network bridge.
When the problem occurs, check if your laptop/PC is receiving any IP settings (run/cmd/ipconfig /all)

So I am actually posting on this forum for my g f She has a Dell Inspiron running Vista Home Premium x on a AMD Athlon processor with gb of memory The issue that we have been encountering is simply this Her internet just decided it didn't want to work anymore She was checking her e-mail when the web page said that the internet connection was no longer available We are Connected a at no 100% network internet? but to currently at school so I told her to take it to quot Connected to a network at 100% but no internet? Computing Services quot but they said that there was nothing Connected to a network at 100% but no internet? they could do on their end because the computer was connecting to the server just fine When I look at it I was confused myself According to windows the internet connection is at an excellent signal strength and the networking map goes all the way green to the glob So the internet should work I look over the other forums to see if anyone else had this issue and tried their fixes as well i e turned off TCP IPv and even got rid of AVG and turned off the firewall nothing seems to be working Also to top it off plugging it in hardwire doesn't work either So does anyone have any suggestions or is it safe to assume that her network card is dead

A:Connected to a network at 100% but no internet?

Hello Azurkan,
If I got it right, she is using wifi. If that is the case, it is most probably because even though the wifi network working perfectly, there is a problem with the internet suplier. You can't really do anything in that case, except maybe contact your suplier for information.
Being who I am, I may be completly wrong, but I had my shot at it.

Hello,

I have been trying to figure out why my internet is not working. It says there is a connection and I checked to make sure that it is sending and receiving packets, which it is, i checked the network connections under control panel, and everything was fine, then in the cmd, i used some ipconfig commands to flushdns and then renew, and rebooted and still nothing. I have tried to google the issue, but nothing significant has come up. Can anyone help me please?

A:Network is connected, but no internet

There could be multiple issues.....

First, I would reset your router (I am assuming you have one, most people do these days) This usually fixes the issue.

If you do not have a router, then however you are connected, (cable modem or dsl), I suggest you call your ISP to see if there is any outages.

Hi all I have been asked to try and to but Connected no internet Network sort out a computer Originally it would not connect to the wireless network at all but i reset the Connected to Network but no internet router and deleted the profile on the computer and so i had to re enter the wep key for the network This made it so Connected to Network but no internet the computer says it is connected to the network but it does not have the internet I am not that it is actually connected to the network It is a windows vista media center computer and the network is using a netgear wireless router provided by Sky Broadband It is version router the white one Other computers are able to connect to the network and the internet with no problem I have changed the network channel from to but this made no difference The computer uses a belkin usb wireless adaptor which i thought might be the problem but i tried a different one and this also did not let it get on the internet but said that it was connected Does anybody have any ideas it has stumped me Idealy i would connect an ethernet cable to the computer but this is not an option due to the lay out of the house and the positioning of the router and computer Cheers JPLamb nbsp

From the results posted its saying you aren't connected to the Route and also do not have a default gateway which is why you can't connect to the internet also. Disable any firewalls and try power cycling everything.

I have been searching everywhere for a solution to this. 9 times out of 10, none of my web browsers will be able to load anything on my laptop. skype works fine, steam works fine, i can still play MMOs, and update my antivirus and malware programs, but none of my browsers will do anything, and every other device in the house can browse web pages fine.

I have tried flushing the DNS, ive tried resetlog.txt, deleting and remaking all my internet connections, running full virus and malware scans, doing system restores to back before the problem started. But still the only two things that have worked so far are running in safe mode with networking, or just turning it off and on again god knows how many times until i get lucky.

A:Connected to internet but unable to access web pages without Safe Mode

Try these steps:
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

When Firefox fails, try IE.

As a test, uninstall Comodo and use MSE.
Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows
You can put Comodo back after testing.

how many did you have and what were they ?

can you do the following three ping tests
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ping Tests
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

Start> Run {search bar in Vista/W7}> CMD to open a DOS window and type:

Type the following command
Ping 192.168.2.1
Post back the results
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping google.com
Post back the results
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping 209.183.226.152
post back results
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste
For your information only
these tests will check various stages of the connection, the first ping test, ping default gateway checks to see if you still have a connection to the router the next two
Ping google.com & Ping 209.183.226.152 tests the connection to internet , one by name and one by number which checks that the dns is workingClick to expand...

I connected to HTC Aria Wifi Hotspot and on the task bar it shows full signal.

On the network and sharing center, there was a 'RED CROSS' although it said Access Type : Internet.

After I connected to the Wifi, there wasn't a red cross, it shows up only after I start browsing (for eg i browse on Google), then the red cross shows up but I was still able to browse (only on Google).

If I browsed wikipedia, then after the red cross shows up, I am only able to browse on wikipedia but not other sites.. Can anyone help?

EDIT: My comp is Acer Aspire 4745G, windows 7 home premium on 64-bit Operating System, tried window troubleshooter but no problem was found

A:Wifi shows connected with full signal but unable to surf the internet

Hello,

It says that you are copnnected to two networks. Disable your other network connection or unplug the cable if you are connected via a wire. It probably because it is getting confused about how to access the internet.

If the above fails:
Click Start>Run> type 'cmd'
In the command prompt type 'ipconfig /all'

Post the information on here.

I'm currently running Windows Vista 32-bit, I have two computers attatched to a wireless network. One of these computers is getting access to the internet just fine. The other can find the network, but can only connect to the network, there is no internet. Windows keeps telling me that there security problems, and the internet security program (PC-cillin) kept loading and not starting. I uninstalled that program, disabled UAC and disabled all the firewalls on the computer. However, Windows keeps telling me there are security issues, and I still cannot connect to the internet. I have also used Diagnose and Repair, but it was useless. Help!

On the network map, it says that it is connected to an unidentifiable network, however, underneath under connection it has the network name.

A:Laptop connected to network, but not internet

Mine does the same thing and I'll call Comcast and they restart it and it connects just fine. I think it's security issues on my computer, I'm trying to get those resolved and hopefully that will help.

A:Connected to network but internet not working!

You "appear " to have a good wireless connection.
From your ipconfig let's see

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address> This would be the IPV4 address

PING <default_gateway_address> 192.168.1.1

PING <dns_servers>

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

A failure to ping might be a firewall issue,so you may need to disable "all" firewalls that are enabled(windows default and any security suites that have a firewall running)
Also make and models of modem and router?
What other devices are affected?

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

A:Wireless Network Connected, No Internet

If your wireless network is protected by a passkey, make sure you have entered the passkey correctly. Tjat is one issue that could make the internet not accessible to you. The ping ctility will only help you test connectivity, not to fix any connectivity problems, so don't bother about that. also check if all others have used static addressing, meaning whether they manually typed in IP addresses into their systems, if so, do the same but make sure the only difference in the numbers you use is in the last number. Use a number different from others there but not greater than 255.

If after these, you still have problems, check the full IP address used by a asystem and manually type in your own IP address in the manner I have specified above.

Hope this will help.

Hi I have just bought a new HP Pavilion PC for my parents and have been trying to get it networked The situation is that they have offices at opposite ends of the house with the broadband in one office I installed a Belkin Universal Repeater pain the neck to setup in between the offices to extend the wireless range to the second office The network signal in the second office strong five bars and I have no problems connecting with my laptop running Vista However the new PC which has a wirelesss card in can get on the network consistently and the connection is never dropped BUT the internet access is intermittent at best works maybe five minutes out of every I cannot access the router admin page when the internet connection is lost but I can still see all the other devices on the network I have tried disabling IPv as per a number of forum suggestions but this didn't help Any suggestions greatly appreciated Update Ok so now for some reason I have full internet access nothing has been changed BUT I can no longer see any network access Connected but no network, to internet devices I can access the router admin page from where I can see that for somre reason the router thinks the Belkin repeater i e the repeater's mac address is my new PC - the IP address for the PC is The IP address for the repeater is yet in Connected to network, but no internet access the router admin page it says that the PC is offline and the router going by its mac address is online but has the PCs IP address Even stranger I can access the wireless printer sitting next to the new PC from the other office i e through the repeater but yet I cannot see it from the new PC sitting right next to it

Welcome to seven Forums!

Is there a PC connected to the repeater's ethernet port or is it stand alone? I looked at the manual a spotted a few items you might want to look at.

First take a look at IP addressing. Are all PC's using DHCP from the router? Did you at any time get a "duplicate IP" warning on any of them?

The mac address showing up weird is not all that unusual if something has connected to the repeaters' ethernet port. It could take on the MAC address of the attached device. It varies by manufacturer so it may be normal for that particular device.

The other items to look at are "Protected Mode", "Repeater Mode" and "54g-LRS".

How are these configured?

Hi about a week ago I started getting the problem where my laptop would connect to the network but there would be no internet access I tried many of the suggestions that I found online like flushing the dns and resetting the tcp ip but none of them but network, access Connected to no internet seemed to work The only thing that I have been able to get to work is doing a system restore to the day before it began to happen However the next day when i swich on my laptop again I have the same problem so I have to restore again Obviously doing a system restore everytime i want to use my laptop isn't ideal I can't figure out what is doing this At first I thought it was a windows update but I disabled all updates after one of my restores and it did not make any difference I also have mcafee installed and disabled anything within that that I thought could have been an issue As far as I can see I have not changed or installed anything after the system restores that would cause this problem to arise each time I start up my laptop Any help is very much appreciated edit Connected to network, but no internet access - Just thought I should point out that the wireless router I am trying to connect to works fine with everything else so it is definitely an issue with this laptop

Welcome to the Seven Forums!

Just as a test, please consider uninstalling mcafee and installing Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. Even if this does not fix the issue, maybe you could leave it in place for the duration of the troubleshooting. After you solve this connectivity problem, you can go back to mcafee if you must.

You mentioned that the problem happens again the next day:

1) Does it happen if you just reboot or does it have to be off over night?

2) Does it happen if you turn off the laptop, leave it off for 5 minutes and then turn it back on?

3) And what happens if you set the laptop to stay awake and left it on all weekend?

You might want to read this too:

I might be away from the forums for a day or two - hopefully, another member will jump in.

Hello and Welcome to Seven Forums,

Have you tried unplugging the network cable from the router's ethernet port then move it to another one?

Can you post an ipconfig /all output for review?

Also, try running the Network Troubleshooter tool from your Windows 7 computer.
Using the Network troubleshooter in Windows 7

I have a dell with windows vista home premium and I'm home from college for the holidays and am unable to connect to my parent's wireless internet. I can connect to the network and sometimes have internet access. However, as soon as I go to my typical websites (google, facebook, school email), I loose the connection to the network. Sometimes I can reconnect, but with no access to the internet. My McAfee has been tweeking out too. I don't know much about computers please help or I will never get through the holidays using this old desktop!

Hi all

I need your help very desperately regarding this problem which i am struggling with for past 3 weeks. I have a Lenovo X201i Thinkpad with Win 7 pro. I have a zyxel router at home. I can connect to the router and the network but the speed is terribly slow specially youtube, also the download speed of any file is dead slow. My android phone is working fine. I also tested one of my friends laptop which has Xp in it. Internet works like rocket in that machine. Moreover, if i connect my laptop to some other network, e.g. my office, it works well.

what i have already tried:
1. unistalling and re-installing the latest wireless driver
2. resetting the router
3. trying preferred DNS server to be 208.67.222.222 and alternate DNS to be 208.67.220.220

please suggest something. I also tried various suggestion in other forums to similar problem, but nothing seem to work.

PLEASE SAVE MY LIFE...

A:network connected but internet very slow

Please make sure your router is set to the higher speed (e.g., g, n). We just had a user who had a router set to b. That goes for your wireless network card as well.

Hi guys Today I went out and purchased a brand new modem and router I set it all up no I'm to the says not symbol connected internet, but network problem and I gave the router dual band networks the same names as the old ones However they had a quot quot behind them Ie - quot Network name quot This wasn't a huge problem as it showed up correctly in the network viewing area etc However it only showed up when I moused over the internet symbol in the bottom right of the task bar Being slightly OCD I decided to change it even if the network names showed fine everywhere else I used the information from this link -- windows - Remove the extra number after the name of Ethernet connection - Super User The steps I followed are those below down voteaccepted quot I've I'm connected to the internet, but network symbol says not finally solved this problem by deleting network profiles from regedit Source Windows Rename Network I'm connected to the internet, but network symbol says not - Internet Network amp Security - Neowin Forums The network profiles are stored under HKLM Software Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion NetworkList Profiles share improve this answer I'm connected to the internet, but network symbol says not answered Mar ' at derekhh Thank you - your answer worked but don't forget to reboot You can also RegEdit search for quot Network quot - notice that is TWO spaces Daniel Sokolowski Jul ' at DanielSokolowski for pointing out the two spaces Silly html kills the second one and without you saying it I wouldn't have realized Eben Sep ' at So it turns out that on my Windows machine it was only one space And the key was at HKEY LOCAL MACHINE SYSTEM ControlSet Control Network but searching for the name got me there easily Eben Sep ' at quot Sooooo I deleted the registry keys for all the networks with my network's names so both of them The problem is that now when I mouse over the internet symbol it either says quot Identifying no internet access quot or similar The funny thing is that I am actually connected If I click the symbol to bring up networks I can see that I am connected to one of my two named networks just fine So please someone help my poor OCD I hate seeing quot identifying quot constantly etc I tried system restore but it keeps failing when it reaches the restore registry point I dislike seeing that I don't have internet access when I actually do Can anyone help me

A:I'm connected to the internet, but network symbol says not

I found the solution. I'm sorry if anyone's time was wasted. To any admin, please feel free to close this thread. I will post solution below:

Delete / Rename Network Connections In Windows 8Thanks to Microsoft, Windows 8 doesn?t have an easy way to accomplish this same process. The link to modify or delete the connections is no where to be found. The only way to remove the connections in Windows 8 is to do so by using the registry editor.
1- To open the registry editor press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog, type regedit, and press Enter. If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes.
2- Go to this folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles.
3- The Profiles folder will provide a list of all the network locations (past or recent) that you have used. Each network location is represented by a subfolder.
4- Here you can delete individual sub-folders to remove individual connections or if you?d like to delete all the connections simply delete all of the sub-folders within the Profiles folder.
5- To rename a network location, click on the corresponding sub-folder and edit the key named ProfileName. Input the new name for the network location.

*********** I simply deleted the subfolders themselves and then re-created the networks.

Hey there I'm running windows bit and I'm no to access? but internet network Connected having a strange internet Connected to network but no internet access? issue This has happened to me before and I've only been able to solve by doing a system restore but I figure there has got to be a much better way to solve this problem In the Connected to network but no internet access? bottom right hand corner beside the clock there is a little icon that resembles a little monitor I'm no brilliant tech person so a lot of this is going to sound stupid probably right now it shows a little yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it When I hover over it with my mouse it says Network Connected and then No Internet Access This is where it gets strange I am able to connect to pretty much any website when I open my browser Now I like to play online games and I recently got BF And as some of you may know you need to go through quot Origin quot in order to play it Well when I connect to the Origin quot library quot it tells me I'm offline and basically tells me I won't be able to play multiplayer But as I said earlier I am able to access the internet for the most part This issue has been happening well before I got BF too So I've done everything I can possibly think of I've emptied my cache cookies etc I have also done the quot IPCONFIG ALL quot thing Rebooted the modem and the computer done any system updates I have also turned my firewall off briefly and tried that It only seems to work when I do a System Restore and I really don't want to be doing that every time I have this problem I have troubleshooted it as well I hope someone has an answer to this problem for me This problem has really started to annoy me Thanks Tarryl

A:Connected to network but no internet access?

Welcome to Seven Forums Terryl!

There are no stupid questions here! I'm wondering if you might be having a problem with your driver.

If you open the start menu by clicking the button and type "device manager" without the quotation marks then press enter, the Device Manager window should open and a list of object categories should be displayed in a list. Look through the list to be sure none have red X's or Yellow Triangles over their icon. It would likely be under the heading Network Adapters. Please include in your reply anything marked with one of these symbols.

Do you have a Petty good idea of when it started occurring (the most recent time, NOT before the restore point you used)?

You also say that :

Quote:
I am able to connect to pretty much any website when I open my browser.

Can you clarify the Pretty much part? Does it seem to be working like normal or is there a definite change where it intermittently does not connect "More Than Usual?"

Thanks,
Mike

Hello,

Recently we had Comcast set-up there internet service at our condo.  Since then my laptop will not open any webpages on any of my browsers.  Chrome shows "This webpage is not available"; IE "This Page Cannot be Displayed" etc.  The other laptop we have connects fine and is viewing everything properly.  I have connected to multiple other wireless networks and the same thing happens every time.

This has been going on for a week already, and I finally had time to spend most of the day today trying to figure this out with no success...

Random info that might help you, help me.

OS is Windows 8
Machine is a newish Acer
Modem is an Arris t862
Direct ethernet connection works, WiFi is the problem
I uninstalled McAfee about the same time as we got the new ISP, not sure if that is relevant.
Any help is appreciated!

A:Connected to Network; No Internet Access :(

to Bleeping Computer!  I uninstalled McAfee about the same time as we got the new ISP, not sure if that is relevant. Download SecurityCheck.exe from Here. Run SecurityCheck and follow the instruction from inside the code box.. When the scan is finished, a notepad will automatically open as check.txt   Please copy and paste the contents here on your next reply. Download MiniToolBox and open/run the program. When open, checkmark or select all options then click Go.A notepad will open then copy-paste the report on your next reply.

A:connected to the network but NO internet access

Can you see the Local network?.

Do you get an ip address from the Router?.
Open command prompt, (click start, Type cmd in the search box and press enter)
then type ipconfig and press enter. Scroll up, Let me know what is says your IP address is, along with Default Gateway.

DOes the Network card show "limited Or no connectivity"?.
Did you type the security code correctly?.
Last but not least, What is your wireless routers Encryption set to? WPA? etc etc.

Let me know the above information, this will help diagnosie whats wrong.
