My default browser is Firefox

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have mozilla firefox-latest version 1-0-4, for awhile,.. but just recently my Norton's is detecting/halting quite a few 'http cookie monster' attack intrusion attempts while I browse with Firefox. It's determined to be a 'moderate' threat.... any input out there on this? [ps.I did some googling on this and went to Firefox site- just seeking members input here]

A:bad cookie

Just to see if it's a browser related issue, try this:
Make sure Firefox is closed. Press Win+R, type firefox.exe -profilemanager and press enter. Make yourself a new profile and try the site.
Other passwords are still saved?
Make sure to post back.

Hi,

Can't get rid of the '64.111.196' cookie that keeps showing up on Xoftspy and Malwarebytes scans.

It is hijacking my google search almost always.
Any help?

A:64.111.196 cookie won't go away

Hiya

Are you still having this problem? If so, can you do the following:

Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop

Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users
Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)
Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences button.
Click the Scanning Control tab.
Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
Close browsers before scanning.
Scan for tracking cookies.
Terminate memory threats before quarantining.

Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.

Click Close to exit the program.

I was scanning my system with Bitdefender and I got 3 cookies detected as viruses. (Cookie.Rub, Cookie.Mediaplex, and Cookie.Advertising.) What is the deal with Cookie.Rub?

A:Cookie.Rub

Rub is a cookie.Cookies are small text files stored in the browser on the user's computer, when visiting web pages.Cookies store information that can be used for several purposes: to personalize web browsing, to gather demographic information about how many users visit a page, to monitor which banners are displayed to the user, etc. These uses are not, in theory at least, malicious. However, keep in mind that the misuse of cookies could threaten an individual's privacy. Rub prevents access from programs to websites of several companies related with security tools (antivirus programs, firewalls, etc.).Rub redirects attempts to access web pages of certain banks to spoofed pages, with the aim of logging information entered by the user in these pages.Rub redirects attempts to access several web pages to a specific IP address.See PANDA

Getting the cookie bar on this website again. This time I followed the link to a UK web site...https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-pecr/cookies-and-similar-technologies/. While the site does use a secure connection it is placing cookies on my machine and not notifying me of the fact, or asking my permission, LOL. While I do not allow third party or session cookies as a normal course of action I do normally allow first party cookies. Hypocrites, do as we say, not as we do. I am using IE 7, having just installed a new XP on a new computer. I read in HELP that my cookie folder should be at C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Cookies. There's no folder labeled Cookies there. I assume I can sort my temp files and find them (I cleared out my cookies before I tried that), but am wondering why the folder isn't where it should be? Thanks for your help.

A:Where is my cookie folder?

Here's the thing about the cookies folder: it's a sham!
Here's why I say that: in old versions of IE (4 and 5, maybe 6 too I don't remember), the cookies are both in the Temporary Internet Files and Cookies folders. If you go to your cookies folder, and delete all the cookies by hand, they actually stay in the Temporary Internet Files folder!! You actually have to remove them from Temporary Internet Files to remove both instances. In later versions of IE, the cookies folder doesn't exist anymore, but you can still find your cookies in Temporary Internet Files.
It's normally in
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
You may need to enable viewing of hidden files and folders to access the Local Settings folder though. To spot the cookies, click on view, and pick details, then sort it by name. All the cookies will have names like cookie:[email protected] and be text files.
Another quicker way to get to Temporary Internet Files in IE7: Go to Tools, Internet Options, under Browsing History pick Settings, then click on View Files.

This is only if you want to delete select cookies by hand. If you want to delete all of them, go to Tools, Internet Options, under Browsing History pick Delete, then click on the Delete Cookies button.

I should mention there are third-party freeware utilities out there that allow you to manage cookies in IE (seems like a feature IE lacks - Firefox has it without any third-party plugins)

It will find the cookie several times a day and delete it but it comes back. I also can't use search engines. I have to copy and paste when possible because I get rerouted if I click a link. How do I once and for all get rid of a tracking cookie?

A:Tracking cookie won't go away

A good Anti-Virus program that is Free to use and is highly recommended here is: Microsoft Security Essentials. http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.aspx

You will need to uninstall Symantec first if you decide to use MSE.

Also recommended:

Be sure to Update each before running your scans.

I just looked this up, I had downloaded it long ago when I first had a computer and wasn't sure how to use it then.

Turns out it's only a free trial and then has to be "bought".

Since I'm on a very limited budget, I try to find things that are FREE.

Anyone know the name of something similar that is free?

I would like to set it up so I can save some cookies (I want, like T.V.Guide Channel settings) and get rid of the rest, without having to go over them one by one.

Thanks,
Carrie

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone can help me out here. I've used SpyBot to get rid of the Commission Junction (CJ) and MediaPlex cookie pests, but they keep coming back. The MediaPlex one I am not so worried about - The CJ one, it redirects a lot of my pages to other pages (using qksrv.net, it seems), and is generally very annoying.

I saw someone else posted that he had the same two cookie viruses in his SpyBot log, and I wonder if he is getting them back as I am.

SpyBot does not seem to be able to fix the root of the problem. Does anyone know how to eliminate, once and for all, the Commission Junction cookie pest?? Thanks in advance for your help.

AVG warns of Euroclick tracking cookie ... cannot heal. Should this be of concern?
Thanks.

A:Euroclick cookie

Cookies are text string messages given to a Web browser by a Web server. Whenever you visit a web page or navigate different pages with your browser, the web site generates a unique ID number which your browser stores in a text (cookie) file that is sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from that server. Cookies allow third-party providers such as ad serving networks, spyware or adware providers to track personal information. The main purpose of cookies is to identify users and prepare customized Web pages for them. The type of cookie that is a cause for some concern are "tracking cookies" because they can be considered a privacy risk. These types of cookies are used to track your Web browsing habits (your movement from site to site). Ad companies use them to record your activity on all sites where they have placed ads. They can keep count of how many times you visited a web page, store your username and password so you don't have to log in and retain your custom settings. When you visit one of these sites, a cookie is placed on your computer. Each time you visit another site that hosts one of their ads, that same cookie is read, and soon they have assembled a list of which of their sites you have visited and which of their ads that you have clicked on. They are used all over the Internet and advertisement companies often plant them whenever your browser loads one of their banners. Cookies are NOT a "threat". As text files they cannot be executed to cause any damage. Cookies do not cause any pop ups nor do they install malware. As long as you surf the Internet, you are going to get cookies and some of your security programs will flag them for removal. However, you can minimize this by reading "Blocking & Managing Unwanted Cookies" and "Block Third-Party Cookies in IE7".

Scroll down to the download section

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

IE on work computer was upgraded from 6.1 to 7. I can't find cookies anymore. Tried these things with no luck.

In IE7 Tried tools - internet options - settings - view files and although I get a display of the same dir as I did in IE6.1, there's nothing in it. "0 objects".

In Windows Explorer I right clicked on local settings-went to c:\documents and settings\...\local settings - properties and unchecked hidden.

In Windows Explorer I searched for a cookie by name and did not find it.

1. Where are the cookies ?
2. How can I get at them ?

You might want to ask your system administrator. It is possible they disabled them.

My work computer got upgraded from IE6.1 to IE7. I can't find where the cookies are kept now. Tried 3 things with no luck:
1. from IE 7 menu: tools-internet options-settings-view files and it goes to the same dir as IE6.1
2. from Windows Explorer: right clicked on the local settings directory, gone to properties-general-and unchecked hidden
3. wrote a cookie and then searched for it by name

I am sure cookie values are being used and that new ones are being made.

1. Where are they on IE7 ?
2. How do I get to them ?
3. Are they not being written to the disk and just in memory ?

Hi all!

I was running a scan of computer and as normal avg found some tracking cookies, I chose to remove all unhealed items in the warning section. Now when I turned on the computer the bsod came up saying something about fat32??

Computer came on fine then though, but am worried I have deleted something I shouldn't have.

Can I just go back into avg, view virus vault and restore the files I have deleted?

Thankyou for any help!!!

A:tracking cookie

Most cookies are benign in nature and not a cause for concern. You will find that every session of browsing will ultimately lead to some cookies being placed on your computer.

However, if you wish to get rid of these there are many programs that will delete them for you. I personally use this:-

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

Select the Free Edition, install and then run the program.

Alternatively, depending on your browser, you can select the option to delete all cookies when your internet session is over and you close the browser.

Hi there,

I built a new computer recently, Running windows 7 for the first time, and everything was fine for a bit, but for the past month, after browsing for about 10 minutes, youtube will no longer load videos and most web sites will not load. I get the following error in youtube, "an error occurred, please try again later" and on a web site a generic, "this page is unavailable." I usually use firefox, but it happens in any browser. My drivers, my browsers are all up to date. I've discovered that emptying my cookies and my cache will fix the problem for another 10 minutes or so, but thats it, and obviously clearing my cookies is a pain, cause I enjoy my cookies...

If anyone can help that would be great, I cant for the life of me figure out what could be happening and I've looked all over the internet.

Hi

I am new to this forum.
I have written a small code in ASP.Net using VS2008 for generating cookies. Everything working fine cookies are written and can be retrived by program. But I can't figure out where physically cookies are stored on my PC. I am using Win7 ultimate and IIS 7.
I searched it "C:\Users\cook1\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies" according to one thread in this forum.

But there I found only 1 file index.dat.

I tried on other location also but not successed. Plz help me to locate physical cookie.

Hi, I'm new here, and have a question about an odd cookie that AVG keeps pointing out every time I go on the computer, now I assume that because AVG finds it I guess it may be a threat, so, after everything has booted up, AVG says it has found a tracking cookie at this location;

C:\Documents and settings\C M\Cookies\[email protected][2].txt

when I get to the C M file there isn't a cookies file just;

desktop
favourites
my documents
start menu
tracing

These are the only files I can see, so I can't delete the; [email protected][2].txt

I also removed all cookies from internet explorer and firefox, any ideas anyone? AVG also finds it when I open Internet Explorer. Thanks.

I'm using XP by the way.

I usually have my internet settings to prompt me before saving any cookies. My husband was on the computer the other day and a whole lot of ads got on the computer and a kalvsys virus or something. I think I got everything off and the pop-ups have stopped, but it won't prompt me before saving cookies anymore, it just automatically saves everything. I'm assuming something in my registry is messed up and I don't know how to find it, or fix it. If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

A:Cookie Problems

Before you start tweaking your registry make sure in your Pop-up Blocker Settings you have checked both boxes in the "Notification and Filter Level" area. In case you have forgotten how to do this (with so many new features happening in XP SP2) click tools in IE >Internet Options>Privacy and at the bottom of the page you will see the Pop-up Blocker area click Settings.

I have a cookie being created approximately every 30 seconds.  The contents are:
proxyhttp://localhost:15710/proxy/0/localhost/{a seemingly random number with a length of 37}*
Example: proxyhttp://localhost:15710/proxy/0/localhost/0359387507230194743297903373030194743*
Would anyone happen to know what this is doing and if this is suspicious behavior?

A:Suspicious Cookie?

It seems these cookies are related with your proxy.
If you worry about it, use the Network Monitor to make a network trace see if you can find any clue.

When I run certain executable files this alert will prompt. It seems to be generating different .txt files each time, which seems to indicate symptoms of a type of worm infection. I will submit an image of the encounter. I have ran full scans on the following, AVG, Malwarebytes' Anti-malware, CCLeaner. Any help in regards to this is topic will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Seasick

A:Tracking Cookie?

Hello Seasick, these are cookies and not a worm.A cookie is a text string that is included with Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) requests and responses. Cookies are used to maintain state information as you navigate different pages on a Web site or return to the Web site at a later time. This article provides information about cookies.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260971/?sd=RMVPWhy we remove them..In addition to the privacy issues, cookies carry security implications as well. Many sites use cookies to implement access control schemes of various sorts. For example, a subscription site that requires a user name and password might pass a cookie back to your browser the first time you log in. Thereafter, the site will give you access to restricted pages if your browser can produce a valid cookie, basically using the cookie as an admission ticket. This can have several advantages for the site, not the least of which is that it can avoid the overhead of looking up your user name and password in a database each and every time you access a page. However, unless this type of system is implemented carefully, it may be vulnerable to exploitation by unscrupulous third parties. For instance, an eavesdropper armed with a packet sniffer could simply intercept the cookie as it passes from your browser to the server, using it to obtain free access to the site. Because browsers use the domain name system (DNS) to determine what cookies belong to a server, it is possible to trick a browser into sending a cookie to a rogue server by temporarily subverting the DNS. If the cookie is persistent, of course, it is also vulnerable to being stolen from the user's cookie database file.http://www.w3.org/Security/Faq/wwwsf2.html#CLT-Q10

We need to work on this together with confidence. Please copy and paste all logs into your post unless directed otherwise. Please do not re-run any programs I suggest. If you encounter problems simply stop and tell me about it.

Click on this then choose Immediate E-Mail notification and then Proceed and you will be sent an email once I have posted a response. If you do not reply to your topic after 5 days we assume it has been abandoned and I will close it.When your computer is clean I will alert you of such. I will also provide for you detailed information about how you can combat future infections.I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so.Now let's get started ===================================================Now that I am assisting you, you can expect that I will be very responsive to your situation. If you are able, I would request you check this thread at least once per day so that we can try to resolve your issues effectively and efficiently. If you are going to be delayed please be considerate and post that information so that I know you are still with me. Unfortunately, there are many people waiting to be assisted and not enough of us at BleepingComputer to go around. I appreciate your understanding and diligence.Thank you for your patience thus far. I have been using firefox for about a year now, gotta say i love it. but this problem happens for both firefox and IE. Im going to initally blame it on the norton trial i had, but ill leave that up to you to decide.
When i use my website or any other website i get really unstable cookies, they work temporarily, some of the time. This prevents me from: administating phpbb forums, listening to internet radio and many other things.

I had just uninstalled a norton trial when it started, i did find a temporary solution which is to clear all cookies, but the problem returns about a day later. Im thinking it has to do with the excess security of norton.

anyway, thank you for your assistance.

A:Big Cookie Problems

Since the problem exists with Fx and IE, it would seem not to be anything to do with them but more something affecting both. If it only started with removing Norton, then I'd agree that it has to be a suspect. As I understand it, Norton can be a bit of a job to remove entirely and maybe vestiges of it being left over could be causing the problem. Look up 'norton removal' on a search engine for suggestions. The 'Norton Removal Tool' and other methods are mentioned. I'm not a Norton user so I'm not sure if these removal methods rely on Norton being installed to work, or if they will act as a 'clean-up' tool after Norton is uninstalled. Perhaps others might advise on this.

Do you have a 'System Restore' point available from a time before Norton Trial was installed? If so, perhaps try going back to that. This could return your computer's behaviour back to how it used to be. What security measures are you using now? If they were installed after uninstalling Norton and you use a restore point that was created before it was installed, it could be necessary to re-install current security (and any other) programs.

I,ve always gotten rid of cookies by right clicking on start and go to explore and when the folders all came up the cookie folder was there also. I've done it this way for years and when checking ot the other day the cookie folder is gone and I was wondering if you could help me get it back? I would open up the folder and select all and then delete and the cookie folder always remained because there is one item that cannot be deleted.
Thank you,

A:Tracking Cookie

Tracking Cookies

Tracking cookies are mostly harmless. They come from websites you've visited. When you delete them and go back to the same sites, you'll get them over an over, unless you set your Internet browser to block cookies. You have to be careful though not to be too restrictive, or else, many websites won't work without them, like Hotmail, forums like this one, etc. Open the link I've provided above and sroll down to "Cookie Tips".

After installing the latest Microsoft patches that were released on Tues I noticed that all my cookies being installed after the update have weird file names such as ENV8RRRH. Prior to the updates the file names in the cookie folder were listed as user [email protected] with a file name you could recognize such as user [email protected] This was helpful in determining what cookies to manually delete. Now you have to open each individual cookie file in notepad to try to determine if I want to save it or delete it which is a real pain. I don't want to delete all the cookies because some I need such as accessing my bank account log on information. Anyone have an explanation on why this format was changed in IE9 and if there is a solution.

A:Cookie File Name

Welcome
I think that you are more interested in saving your important cookies, and deleting the uninportant ones. I feel the same and handle it this way.
Download ccleaner
Check the cookies category for deletion (there are two) untick system temporary files.
Use the computer for a while, go to your sites and make your bank deposits, buy your stocks etc. Then go to the cookie listing and right clikc both columns and then click intelligent scan. The garbage cookies will not be touched but the valid ones will be saved.
That being said, I would make a scan with malwarebytes and my anti virus, just to be sure that the cookies that appear constantly are not malware
Good luck

Norton isolated & totally removed tracking cookie.

After running subsequent 1st Quick,2nd Full scans the results indicated that there were
no further tracking cookie problems ?

I sure hope so !

Hi-----I have over 800 cookies listed (is that alot?) and I would like to delete as many as possible. I have several programs whose cookies I want to keep but cannot find a cookie that seems to match the program. Is there anyway to find out the name of cookies related to a particular program or site etc?

Hi, I hope this is the right place to post this question.

I've just installed a new voip router alongside my broadband router and it all worked fine.

Sadly I can't log on to "My Ebay" page and a couple of other sites which I log into, I can access the home pages it's just the log in sections I can't access.

I've tried deleting my cookies in the Internet Options area, but I still can't log in, does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do next or what the problem might be?

any help would be really appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Zim

Hi, I ran Mcafee, Malwarebytes, and Panda scans and the only thing that was found was some cookie called Atlas DMT. When I erase it and reboot it comes back. Should I be worried?

A:ad cookie comes back

Atlas DMT is a very low-risk threat since it's a standard tracking cookie but you can block it from coming back using your browser's settings.

Internet Explorer:
Go Tools->Internet Options->Privacy and click Sites. You can then add AtlasDMT.com to your list of blocked sites so that cookies from that site are refused automatically. You can also click Advanced and have IE prompt you for each cookie that requests installation. Over a short period of time you can have a nice rule base set up for which cookies you do and do not want.

Firefox:
Go Tools->Options->Privacy->Cookies and click Exceptions. There you can add AtlasDMT.com to the block list. You can also select "ask me every time" and check "from originating site only" to have Firefox prompt you every time a new cookie requests permission just like with IE.

Hi,

For the last few days my PC has been loosing the cookie for my ISPs homepage when re-starting or coming out of hibernation. This happens with both IE8 and Firefox. I have contacted Trend Micro support but so far none of their solutions have been effective. They have also analysed a Hijackthis log and concluded there was nothing sinister going on.

This only happens to the Optus (my ISP) cookie, but Optus are denying any problems.

I have originally posted in the XP Support forum, but one of your folks suggeted I post here.

Does anyone have any suggestions, please?

Rob.

A:Cookie Problem

Hello -

I hate to give you a runaround, but I have my doubts about a cookie issue like that being malware related. I would ask back in Windows section, or in Internet Explorer subforum.

That said, you would need to post logs as indicated in the link provided by Speedster if you want help in this section of the forum. We work from logs as well as issue description.

HijackThis is woefully inadequate for many of today's infections. We don't use it as our initial analysis tool.

We want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link I'll give you below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and a
Quote:

Having problems with spyware and pop-ups? First Steps

link at the top of each page.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/f50/...lp-305963.html

After running through all the steps, you shall have a proper set of logs. Please post them in a new topic, as this one shall be closed. I currently have as many open topics as I can effectively handle; this will have you back in queue with the proper logs so an available helper would be able to assist.

If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.

Please note that the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help forum is extremely busy, and it may take a while to receive a reply.

Gentlemen,

My computer is proteced by -

Norton System Works 2005 Premier.
Ad-Aware SE Personal.
Spybot S & D.
Spyware Blaster.
Spyware Guard.
a2scan.
Kerio Personal Firewall.
MS Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.
TDS-3.

The programmes are updated and used every day.

I also use CleanUp which shows a list of protected cookies. There is a cookie which is not shown in my Norton System Works list of protected cookies.

It is -

go.microsoft.com/serviceswirchung

I have been into Google via IE and Mozilla Firefox and neither search has recognised this cookie. There is no information about it.

Should I delete go.microsoft.com/serviceswirchung ?

A:A cookie problem

When I searched for only the first part, go.microsoft.com, I was taken to this http://search.microsoft.com/search/search....st=b&View=en-us.Which is the search page for Microsoft. Have you visited it lately? I do not know what the last part (serviceswirchung) means. While on the MS search page, I searched for the text using a few variations. Came up empty.

A:Just one last darn cookie!!

Hi jrobin,

Glaswegian had given you a list of downloads. This one will take care of that cookie for you along with many others:

Download IE-SPYAD.EXE to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email. This is a self-extracting .ZIP file, and save it to your desktop. Once downloaded, double-click on it to extract the files inside (default dir is C:\IE-SPYAD)
From within the folder, double-click install.bat
Select Option #2 - Install the new IE-SPYAD list, by typing 2
Then return to the main menu.
Select option #4 - Add the old porn sites domain, by typing 4

It is a tracking cookie. It is designed to track your browsing habits. It is not dangerous as such, and is easily deleted.

We will do that after you have run the malware scan.

I downloaded Windows Clean Up It looks pretty good but before using it there are obviously cookies I want to save I looked at CookieWall but I didn't much Cookie Saver? care for the interface I guess I'm looking for freeware that's a little simpler to use CookieWall made me a little uncomfortable Suggestions Also I was looking for another spyware scanner I noticed that Google Updater offers PC Tools' Spyware Doctor and I haven't seen anything about it here I already have Defender Spyware Blaster Spyware Guard amp AVG Anti Spyware and I guess I'm looking for one more spyware scanner Cookie Saver? unless you think I have enough My guess is you can never have enough Also I have the Comodo Firewall amp Avira AntiVir I like them both Comodo is Cookie Saver? very unintrusive I'm interested in any other suggestions I've picked up a few already like running spyware amp virus scanners in safe mode I definitely plan to try that This is a great site

A:Cookie Saver?

In addition to what you're already using, I'd suggest Ad-Aware, and Spybot S&D.Please read this tutorial on Spybot S&D before using it. Spybot can do SERIOUS damage, if not used properly. We also have a tutorial on using Ad-Aware SE.Sorry, but I don't know of any good 3rd party cookie managers.I just use the one in Firefox, and it does all I need.

I'm using a Mozilla browser and XP Home The last time I ran Lava Soft's Ad-Aware there were no malicious stuffs but a number of benign cookies it did not remove which I understand I have one for my bank etc etc The other day checking with Travelocity for an airplane ticket I noticed the price went up the second time I checked the flight I did Cookie Questions........ it again with a different flight and suspect Cookie Questions........ the price is higher if Cookie Questions........ they have the cookie Can anybody tell me if I'm right about this I have my Firefox set up to remove my private data everything on the checklist is checked but it leaves the benign cookies Is there a way to go into my system to determine what cookies are present and to select which if any to remove from there Also someone told me there was a free or a reasonably priced download that once installed would quot crunch quot every time a cookie attempt was made ask what to do with it and allow stuff like cookies from the bank or the bill pay service Thank you

A:Cookie Questions........

To view your cookies go into Tools/Options/Privacy/Show Cookies and then scroll down the list of cookies and remove the ones you don't want/need.A good extension to have is NoScript. This Guide on How to Allow/Block session Cookies in Firefox might be helpful.

Hello, I was wondering if there was a program, maybe freeware, that would manage cookies in IE and Netscape that would allow you to keep certain cookies but erase others. Thanks for your time, JeffTexas

I am trying to understand the term quot cookie enabled quot and how to achieve this I do understand about cookies generally and the importance of deleting cookies occasionally but especially after banking etc I even know how to do this via Settings - Internet Options - General - Enabled Cookie Delete Cookies and I am quite attentive to doing this However I have looked at an on-line university course which requires that my PC be quot cookies enabled quot I suppose for interaction between Cookie Enabled my PC and the university's system but I cannot relate on the one hand to regularly deleting all my cookies and managing on the other hand to retain a specific one for a linkage to the university I have searched high up and low down but have not been able to learn how to create and maintain an individual cookie while regularly deleting others Does this make sense Can you help Thanks in advance PS I am such a neophyte that I'm really not even sure if I'm posting to the correct forum Apologies in advance if I've not done this correctly

A:Cookie Enabled

Not all cookies are evil, and not all should be deleted on a regular basis. Many cookies contain sign-on passords, or are used by the site to maintain valid information about your position on the site.
You should be able to enable cookies on whatever browser you are using, but have the browser ask for permission before allowing a cookie. Your browser should also allow you to view all cookies and make individual decisions about which to keep and which to delete.

John

We use a feature of your browser called a "cookie" to assign a "User ID." Cookies, by themselves, cannot be used to find out your identity or the identities of any of our users. It only identifies your computer to our servers when you visit our site. The most noticeable benefit of this is not having to "log in" every time you visit. ( can any1 here explain how this works and are they allowed 2 get your pc id and is there a way 2 block these sites from getting your computers id )

Friends
One of our Members, Jacee, posted in Seven Forums about this great software. It allows you to easily choose what cookes remain on your system. Spying has become very common. I send emails, about travel and trips and then get spam about Motels in that area. I suggest that everyone investigate the applicability of this software, for themselves, and then take the appropriate course of action.

Hi, newbie here

I've recently taken initiative to improve browser privacy and security by adding uBlock Origin, uMatrix and HTTPS Everywhere to my Chromium browser, but I'm not sure how to approach cookies and site data. I've set uMatrix to delete local storage content set by blocked hostnames, but what about site data not in blocked hostnames? This seems to accumulate quickly.

What I want to do here is block all sites from setting any data with the exception of sites which I need session cookies for logins. Would it be better to rather store these cookies and site data, and clear local storage on exiting the browser? Or is the entire concept of deleting data not in blocked hostnames just unnecessary?

A:Cookie Management

Cookies are harmless + block them will cause trouble to view the websites correctly , either go to Incognito Mode/Private Browsing/In Private where contents will not be save or assign the browser to close and clean them.

A:IE Cookie Help--It's Crazy!

Try uninstalling IE7, then reinstalling it.

Try cleaning all previous cookies. Maybe there is some 'corrupted' cookie that is not being replaced but not being recognized.

Uninstall/reinstall Java as well, see if that helps. Using SunJava, of course.
