I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm sure a lot of people have this problem, and it's seriously killing me.

I don't normally notice it, but any time a game is loading or a song or video is buffering...it just stops. I know this is likely due to a short screwup in my connection.

What I don't know is why my internet bounces offline, then back on or how to fix it. I'm hoping I just need to put filters on all my phone jacks, which will be done shortly.

Please help, as I have run out of reliable sources.

I also have a wireless router, if that makes a difference.

A:Patchy connection

If you are using DSL and don't have filters on ALL the phone equipment EXCEPT the DSL modem, that's an obvious first step!

Hi everyone Colours patchy, or (like 256) 16-bit this is my first post on Colours patchy, (like 16-bit or 256) sevenforums Was on vistax Colours patchy, (like 16-bit or 256) and switched to Win just about a week back The switch from Vista to was pretty easy unlike XP to Vista Now for my problem I was using a D-sub VGA cable to connect my graphics card to my display BIG Geforce GT to Bravia KLV- V A The cable was cheap and of poor quality I guess it had interference issues If they are of relevence i will post it later But now i changed to a DVI-D Dual Link - HDMI cable The Colours patchy, (like 16-bit or 256) problems i had with the other cable are gone But now the colour gradients are not displayed properly Its like how you would see it in a -bit or colours display A patch of one shade then a patch of the next and not a gradual change It is not as noticable as mode but it is noticable Even on the login screen it can be observed What could be wrong I would be grateful for any help Thank you Adding some details Eg The blue on either side of this page has horizontal patches in the area that the gradation occurs My resolution x colour depth -bit Refresh rate Hz NVIDIA drivers downloaded just a week back I'm uploading two pictures The first desktop is just a simulation ie i saved the picture in colours just to show an exaggerated example of my problem The second i created a new black image and used a gradient tool I can see diagonal patches but im not sure if others will see it

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum):  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/
Should you have problems with the perfmon report, please disregard it (I don't use it very much anyway).
Should the app lock up for more than 15 minutes while searching for Network information (it does this in my copy of W10), go ahead and kill the app.
Then navigate to the Documents folder and zip up the 18 reports in the SysnativeFileCollectionApp folder - then upload that with your next post.
If that doesn't work, then you can try this new app (from a friend of mine):  http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/
When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location.
By default it'll be a .zip file located on your Desktop
Simply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there.

A:Win 7, can't communicate with DNS server - patchy issue

we will go over old ground i'm afraid here

1) you have zonealarm, as a virus product do you also have the firewall - make sure you remove all firewalls an use the removal tools - give us a list of what has ever been on the pc and we can give the tools address

2) have you gone to the manufactures website and updated the driver or actually re-installed the driver

3) quite a few things to try below
a) tcp/ip reset
b) ping tests - please do all three - would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects.
Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.
c) Change DNS servers and see if that resolves the issue
d) Uninstall the driver and re-install
e) Post an xirrus screen shot
f) Have you looked into channel interference - the xirrus screen shot will help with that

Hello

System Specs:

HP/Compaq 8710p laptop
Windows XP SP3
Kaspersky Internet Security

Symptoms over past few months:

After using computer for many hours (8+) performance drastically degrades and the screen display eventually becomes patchy with text and graphics missing. At this point the computer is no longer functional and must be Shut Down. Sometimes a forced power off is required as it won't shut down normally.

After re-boot the computer is back to normal but the problem is consistent.

I occassionally get the "Blue Screen of Death" with reference to "nv4_disp.dll". This has happened approximately once every 3 months over the past year. Eventually I re-installed the Display driver but this hasn't changed the situation.

I have run Malwarebyte's Anti-malware and Kaspersky Anti-virus scans regularly.

Any ideas you have to help resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Becky

A:Performance degradation & video display becomes patchy

Have you noticed the machine getting hot when the graphics errors occur? Download Speedfan (free app) and monitor your CPU and more importantly your GPU temperatures. Check your temps with the operating temps on the chip manufacturers site. If yours are getting too hot it would explain the slow performance and graphics errors.

To resolve first check your fan is running properly and the fan and heatsink are clean from dust/hair. Also consider cleaning off the old thermal paste and applying a high quality paste to the chips.

What is the BSOD error code?

I have a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 7000 that I am using. Sometimes the cursor just sticks and won't move properly and I can't figure out why. I am trying to use it about 10-12 feet from the tower where the receiver is plugged in. When I use the mouse about 2 feet from the receiver it works fine. I thought this mouse was suppose to cover a 30 foot distance. I also have the router right next to the mouse's wireless receiver and not sure if the 2.4 GHZ Frequency interferes. I have tried new batteries and downloading updated drivers, but had no luck. Any ideas would be appreciated.

A:Microsoft Wireless Mouse with patchy performance!

You have pretty much determined its a distance issue. Distance can vary by the quality of the hardware and any interference within the room. Not too mention it's a notebook mouse, so the primary concern wasn't in achieving great distance.

Is the receiver out in the open?

I know on my computer case, the case extends out beyond the rear USB ports for the receiver and the mouse hardly worked 2 ft away. It worked fine when attached to the front panel of the case, but that wasn't conveinent so I used a USB extension cable to move the receiver under my desk over by the mouse.

A few days ago I picked up the Internet Security 2010 virus. We have Malwarebytes on the laptop so I did a scan with it and cleaned what it found. I then tried to restart in safe mode and run the scan again but the safe mode went straight to a blue screen that says PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

I then restarted the laptop in normal mode and now I have no internet connection. I also can't access any firewall modes. Now when I run malwarebytes it comes back clean. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The laptop is a Dell inspiron e1705 and has windows xp. We use AVG free for virus protection. I do have internet access with my desktop.

Update: I can no longer start windows in normal mode or safe mode. Either one takes me to the Blue Screen

I have a laptop that I take to work, and would like to set things up to use my home internet connection from elsewhere. I don't have another computer to function as a server for me at home, so would like to do it so that my router alone provides this access (log into it from the internet anywhere and use my internet as if I am using it from home).

How would I go about doing this? Would it require installing new firmware, or how can I tell my router that I would like to access it like this?

I have a router with remote access capabilities as well as a bridging mode (and I have another older router).

Many thanks!

A:Using two home routers to access secure internet from work/internet cafes

You need a router which supports being a VPN end point and then has support for hairpinning.

The internet started slowing down and completely freezing about a week ago. When I look at the task mgr it shows one or two Iexplore.exe processes but when I click show from all users it pops up between 10 and 20 iexplore.exe processes. I have run Malware bytes and superanti spyware as well as avast. it still shows up. I have tried only using chrome. When I restart the computer and use only chrome there still seems to pop up one or two iexplore.exe processes even though i have not opened ie explorer. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Last week my computer had a virus that I successfully removed using Malwarebytes. Since then I have been unable to access the internet using my default browser Google Chrome (instead I receive a 'This Webpage is not available.' message with the error: Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): Unknown error.

Or with internet explorer where the following message is received: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

Yet it works fine with Firefox. I then tried signing in via Windows Live Messenger where it failed and upon doing the connection troubleshooter received an exclamation mark next to the proxy and key ports sections.

Is there any way for me to fix it so that I can have normal internet access? One major problem right now is that I cannot even upload pictures via Photobucket or even e-mail where Google Chrome gives the message: Attachment failed. This may be due to a proxy or firewall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to Computer Hope Forum. My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer. 1. I will be working on your Malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.4. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans while I am helping you.5. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. If you can't access the internet with your infected computer you will have to download and transfer any programs to the computer you're using now and transfer them to the infected computer with a CD-RW or a USB storage device. I prefer a CD because a storage device can get infected. If you use a storage device hold the shift key down while inserting the USB storage device for about 10 secs. You will also have to transfer the logs you receive back to the good computer using the same method until we can get the computer back on-line. *************************************************************************Please run MBAM again. Make sure all infections have a checkmark and click on "Remove Selected".*************************************************Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.?Warning! Once the scan is complete JRT will shut down your browser with NO warning.?Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.?Temporarily disable your Antivirus and any Antispyware real time protection before performing a scan. Click this link to see a list of security programs that should be disabled and how to disable them.?Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, right-click JRT and select Run as Administrator? The tool will open and start scanning your system.?Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.?On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.?Copy and Paste the JRT.txt log into your next message****************************************Download Security Check by screen317 from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.Link 1Link 2* Double-click Security Check.bat* Follow the on-screen instructions inside of the black box.* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt* Post the contents of that document in your next reply.Note: If a security program requests permission from dig.exe to access the Internet, allow it to do so.

Hello,

I am using a program called Currports to monitor my ports and internet connections. I use Zonealarm Firewall as my firewall. Currports keeps asking to access the internet, and I keep denying it access because I don't see why this program would need to access the internet. Should I be allowing it to access the internet? Is there a valid reason why this type of program would need to access the internet? Any help would be appreciated thank you.

A:Solved: Should Port/Internet Connection monitoring program access internet?

Does not allowing it to access the Internet affect the information it gives you? Are you satisfied with the results? If all is well, I'd say you don't have to allow it. I personally use the program and I have no problem with letting it access the Internet. I have always found Nirsoft to be a trustworthy company. Besides, the program may need to access the Internet or its servers to find all the information it displays.

This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.
GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.-- If you encounter any problems, try running GMER in safe mode.-- If GMER crashes or keeps resulting in a BSODs, uncheck Devices on the right side before scanning.Best Regards,oneof4.

The internet homepage was taken over by a spam page,  went in and changed it back. Ever since, internet has been running extremely slow and many sites won't even open. Computer itself seems ok as far as OS, HDD etc.
Anything to be done or checked here or is this just an issue with my internet provider?
thanks

Hello I am new to this forum I need some help configuring a network for a future hotspot plan Pardon my verbose as my exact situation needs a lot of description and some explanation Internet W 4G hotspot network mode to Help second serving Internet wired with Solved: I plan to get a Samsung SCH-LC via USCellular for Internet service for both my daily on-site use of my computer and at home for gaming etc Presently we have Wildblue ViaSat satellite Solved: Help with 4G hotspot Internet serving to wired network W second Internet mode Internet connected to a D-Link DGL- Gigabit Ethernet LAN modem Unfortunately satellite Internet has a lot of quot lag quot ping time near ms so it can not be used for multiplayer gaming and there is always a second or more delay when we click on stuff in web browsers Some particular web sites take an excruciating amount of time to load a page especially https and all those sites that require access to multiple sites in order to load and it is getting worse as the pages get more complicated Whats more when I upload things to my company website that I administrate myself it is also excruciatingly slow as our upload speed is much less than download We have a plan that allows for GB mo download and we currently are at used Big files download pretty fast getting almost KB sec but uploads are lt KB sec The US Cellular hotspot offers and GB mo download limits and is the max affordable for me overages are nearly the same price GB anyway It uses the Samsung SCH-LC unit I have network printers a Tivo continuously wired computers one Asus Zenbook W wi-fi that I hook up to the Ethernet when home a NAS for company data backup NOT a Windows Home Server and one quot tablet that currently uses a D-Link DIR- router g n u hooked up to the LAN Ethernet too And of course the satellite Internet modem All these run through the D-Link DGL- and a couple of multi-port dumb switches The question is can I hook up the Samsung SCH-LC behind an Ethernet firewall router my D-Link DGL- along W the Satellite modem so both will supply the Internet connection one at a time I have no problem with turning one or the other off so that only one will supply Internet The thing is I am not sure how to set up a wi-fi receiver behind the D-Link DGL- firewall to supply the entire LAN The D-Link DIR- router is set up to serve as an Internet connection for wilreless not to receive one via wireless to serve the LAN I am not adverse to setting up one computer as an Internet server for it perhaps adding a network card for a second Ethernet port but I just don t know if that s the best plan The topology would change when I didn t have the Samsung hotspot meaning at that point the system would have to get the Internet from the satellite modem If I set up one of my computers to do that then said couputer would have to have the Internet connections manually changed in order to get the Internet from the modem PITA What s more I would have to leave said computer on to get the US Cellular hotspot Eventually I want to cancel the satellite Internet altogether I have mos left on my contract and it will cost the same if I cancel right now and what s more I am unsure if the US Cellular hotspot reception will be good enough in my exact location I am out in the boondocks but the coverage map shows my spot to be quot very good quot with quot good quot just a couple hundred yards away We have problems W trees and the wet leaves and snow in the wintertime as evident by the TV signal reception problems we cannot get cable so I need to test the reception - for many months - before relying on the US Cellular hotspot permanently I use this for my business so reliability is crucial Here is a link to the US Cellular device page http www uscellular com mobile-hotspots index html nbsp

I had malware install itself onto my computer four days ago, i removed it with malwarebytes, and it is gone, but since then, whenever I open internet explorer it opens never ending windows, and when i run a program, like iTunes, and try to connect to the store, it says it cannot connect to the internet, and this does this with several other internet based programs. New programs installed after the malware was removed connect to the internet perfectly, but programs installed before the malware do not connect to the internet. Installing the programs do not work. I'm wondering if there is any way to fix this without a full system wipe. Any help will be greatly appreciated

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, kaspersky or Mcafee or any free security suites like zonealarm, AVG , Webroot etc

lets see the following please

ipconfig /all

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
Note: you will see entries named Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: we dont need to see that information - JUST the information above those entries

For Windows 8
To open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/open-an-elevated-command-prompt-in-windows-8/
Use Win + X and choose Command Prompt or Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.
For windows version, XP, Vista, W7
Hold the Windows key and press R

Now type CMD

Now press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):
In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt
It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

Hey guys I have a really frustrating problem right now and I was wondering if anyone could help me.

Very recently, my forwarded ports stayed closed (even though I've definitely opened them from the router page) and configuring a static ip gets really random. I'm using a Belkin wireless USB adapter right now, instead of the ethernet cable I was using a few weeks ago, but I don't think this is the problem.

Thanks guys

I'm using a Belkin wireless USB adapter right now, instead of the ethernet cable I was using a few weeks ago, but I don't think this is the problem.

Thanks guys

IPv6 isn't used for accessing the internet, it's only used internally for the time being.

The port forwarding problem could be your A/V software, a third party firewall or even Windows firewall.

If you are having problems with the wireless connection why not go back to the wired connection instead.

The two operating systems seem to be working fine and well with each other, but the internet is not working for the windows XP. The Vista internet is working normally though. When I go onto my XP's Network Connection, it is blank, no Local Area Network what so ever. I really want to use XP because Windows Vista is Microsoft's fail operating thingie.

My Dell Latitude D800 has become infected with "Internet Security 2010" and it is in such a bad state that I cannot get onto the internet anymore. I was told that I can download information onto my desktop computer and then somehow transfer it over to my laptop to remove the virus from my laptop. My desktop is an old Acer Aspire with very little memory and it is running windows 98. My Dell Latitude is running Windows XP. If I can download information onto my desktop computer, how to I transfer that file over to my Laptop?

I am running Windows 7 - 64 bit on my laptop. I currently have Avast Internet Security installed and I have tried to uninstall the Avast software as I wish to change my antivirus software. I have tried uninstalling in safe mode using the Avast Clear utility. Unfortunately after using this utility the Avast program still remains on my hard drive in Program Files which I then have to delete manually. After doing so and restarting my computer I have no internet connection and the only way I can restore my internet connection is by copying the Avast program back into my Program Files. This is very frustrating and annoying and I would really appreciate it if someone could help me to resolve this problem so that I can remove Avast without losing my internet connection.

Have you also tried removing the program via control panel ?

do you mean to just COPY or re-install ?

would you check the device manager and also provide an ipconfig /all when you have the problem
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste
------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Device Manager
Post back the results in device manager
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

windows key and pause Key should open to allow device manager to be seen on laptops may need to use windows key + FN key + Pause Key
if not then

Start > control Panel {Vista set to classic view}> system > {Vista, device manager on left hand side} {XP hardware Tab, device manager button} >
windows 7
start > control panel> System and Security> Device Manager

network adaptors, click on the + > post back the devices listed there
are there any ! ? or X
post a screen shot of the device manager - network adapters

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here

Hello rbleepkao, Welcome to Bleeping Computer.
My name is fireman4it and I will be helping you with your Malware problem.

Please take note of some guidelines for this fix:
Refrain from making any changes to your computer including installing/uninstall programs, deleting files, modifying the registry, and running scanners or tools.
If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing.
Even if things appear to be better, it might not mean we are finished. Please continue to follow my instructions and reply back until I give you the "all clean".
In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Watch Topic.I suggest you click it and select Immediate E-Mail notification and click on Proceed. This way you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

Finally, please reply using the ADD REPLY button in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Do not start a new topic. The logs that you post should be pasted directly into the reply, unless they do not fit into the post.
I will be analyzing your log. I will get back to you with instructions.1.We need to disable Spybot S&D's "TeaTimer"TeaTimer works by preventing ANY changes to the system. It will attempt to undo any fixes we run, because it blocks these fixes from running. In order to safeguard your system from problems that can be brought on by a half finished fix, we need to disable TeaTimer. We can reenable it when we're done if you like.Open SpyBot Search and Destroy by going to Start -> All Programs -> Spybot Search and Destroy -> Spybot Search and Destroy. If prompted with a legal dialog, accept the warning.Click and then on "Advanced Mode"
You may be presented with a warning dialog. If so, press Click on Click on Uncheck this checkbox:
Close/Exit Spybot Search and Destroy2.Please download the TDSS Rootkit Removing Tool (TDSSKiller.exe) and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!Be sure to download TDSSKiller.exe (v2.4.0.0) from Kaspersky's website and not TDSSKiller.zip which appears to be an older version 2.3.2.2 of the tool.Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the tool for known TDSS variants.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator. If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it. To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to How to change the file extension.Click the Start Scan button.Do not use the computer during the scanIf the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C:).Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply.3.Please download aswMBR ( 511KB ) to your desktop.Double click the aswMBR.exe icon to run itClick the Scan button to start the scanOn completion of the scan, click the save log button, save it to your desktop and post it in your next reply.Things to include in your next reply::TdssKiller logAswMBR logA new DDS logHow is your machine running now?

Hi and welcome to TSF.

My name is Iain and I will be helping you clean your system.

You may wish to Subscribe to this thread (Thread Tools > Subscribe to this thread) so that you are notified when you receive a reply.

Please read these instructions carefully and then print out or copy this page to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out the fix. You should not have any open browsers or live internet connections when you are following the procedures below.

Note that the fix may take several posts. Please continue to respond to my instructions until I confirm that your logs are clean. Remember that although your symptoms may vanish, this does NOT mean that your system is clean.

If there is anything you don't understand, please ask BEFORE proceeding with the fixes.

Please ensure that you follow the instructions in the order I have them listed.

Download SDFix and save it to your desktop.
Do not do anything with this yet!

Reboot
Reboot your system in Safe Mode.Restart the computer. The computer begins processing a set of instructions known as BIOS.
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8 (dependent on your system this may be F5 or another key)
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
Use the arrow key to highlight Safe Mode and press Enter.

SDBot FixRight click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the script.
It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to the Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back here with a new HijackThis log.

Next we'll use ComboFix. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

**Note: It is important that ComboFix is saved directly to your desktop**

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console. This will help us restore your system in the event of a serious crash. It's very simple to complete and will only take a few moments. A quick guide is detailed below.

Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
See here for a guide to disabling AV, Firewall and Anti-malware programmes.

Once you've downloaded the appropriate RC setup package for your system to the desktop, follow these instructions:
Drag the setup package onto ComboFix.exe and drop it.

Follow the prompts to start ComboFix and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Recovery Console.

At the next prompt, click 'Yes' to run the full ComboFix scan.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please post the log C:\ComboFix.txt along with a fresh HijackThis log for further review.

Greetings I spent days trying to get rid of the Internet Security trojan virus on Internet issue Security Post in 2010 Internet Explorer a Pc on my home network What an experience Thanks to this website you had the solution that removed the virus and put things back to 'normal' However now IE does not find any website I have email access no problem I ran Post Internet Security 2010 issue in Internet Explorer the MS diagnostics and it says that winsock is ok but HTTP and FTP are not granting access Did this virus change some port settings or anything like that It's weird because it only happens with the login that I used to remove the virus If I log on with another login on that PC the Internet is accessible with no problem By the way there were some left-over residue in the registry which I managed to clean up with no side effects Search for IS and just delete the entries There were maybe or of them not too bad ANy ideas out there on the IE problem I'm using version SP on that particular PC Thanks Scott M

A:Post Internet Security 2010 issue in Internet Explorer

Never mind...I found it. Evidently the Internet Security 2010 trojan changes the LAN setings in IE. That is, it turns on the proxy server setting on the Connection tab of the Internet Explorer options form. I unchecked it and we're in business again.

Just thought I'd share with everyone just in case

From ZDnet

The Internet Systems Consortium (ISC) has taken the site down for maintenance because they "believe we may be infected with malware."

ISC is the group behind the open-source Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) program. BIND is arguably the most popular DNS software on the planet. It is certainly the most used DNS program on the Unix and Linux systems that make up most of the Internet's fundamental infrastructure.

If the BIND code itself has been corrupted, and you've updated your DNS BIND server with the code, you could be in for a world of hurt. Your site might now have a security hole on it. It's also all too possible that it could be used for a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack.

A:Extremely Frustrated - Windows 7 - Connected to Internet, Can't access internet.

I have experienced issues with similar computer behavior.  Often times it is because the proxy settings for the internet connection are not as they should be.  If you go to the internet settings (control panel, then to internet options) and then click the tab across the top that is titled "Connections" then click the button towards the bottom labeled, "LAN settings" make sure that "Bypass proxy settings for local addresses" is not checked and that "Automatically detect settings" is checked.  This often has solved the problem for me.

I'm using IDM 5.19 build 3 in may DELL Studio 14 using Windows 7. Recently I cannot finish my downloads. When I start the queue the speed will be around 200kbps but after a few seconds the speed fluctuates and becomes slower. The speed becomes 5kbps or slower.

Is this my internet connection or IDM?

I check my old laptop using Vista with the same connection. I don't see this problem. Also I tried downloading using the browser (no IDM) and the speed is consistent 200-250 kbps.

Help badly needed. Thanks in advance.

Well I'm using the Window Vista Home Professional Edition so I don't know if that has to do with anything but for some reason after I surf the web for a certain amount of time or when I change websites quickly either firefox loses connection to the internet or the computer itself loses connection to the internet When switching back to IE and surfing the web for a while the computer itself seems to not send any signal to the internet I can access AIM but when trying to go online to play a game or surf the web I can't access it The only way to solve this problem is that I restart the computer Though when the computer seems to not be able to connect to the internet it takes the computer an awfully long time to restart including logging off and what not - minutes I have also constantly scanned the computer using AVG Avast or the Windows Security scan accessing with cuts the problem A Internet? randomly after to web., the off Internet Access thingy This also includes defragging the computer and checking the disk scan for and recovery of bad sectors I have posted this before in the infected area and Access to Internet randomly cuts off after accessing the web., A problem with the Internet? since I have checked the infected area in which the person led Access to Internet randomly cuts off after accessing the web., A problem with the Internet? me here I was hoping if there is someone Access to Internet randomly cuts off after accessing the web., A problem with the Internet? who could solve this Thank you and any help would be appreciated

Hello

Back to TSF for help with a nasty virus. My aunt unfortunately clicked on a pop-up which installed the Internet Security Essentials Trojan on her rig. I used LogMeIn to access her rig and installed MBAM, and ran it. MBAM seemed to find the Trojan.FakeAlert item and 6 other items related to this malware. I asked MBAM to get rid of the items. We restarted the rig, but now her internet connection is down. We cannot get IE to connect to the net. I ran a ping test and that failed as well.

Can anyone help me out? My aunt and uncle live on the 'net and I want to get them up and running as soon as possible.

She is using WIN 7, Home edition.

A:Internet Security Essentials cleared by MBAM, but no internet connection

Hmmm.... I can't seem to edit that post, for whatever reason. I want to add that using LogMeIn, I can connect via the internet to my aunt's computer! So the problem has something to do with the browser.

Okay I just got a new laptop, running Windows vista, Business Downgrade sp2. for college about a week ago. It was working fine. It came with Dell Connect program that organized connections and worked along side windows connections.

After about a day, I was surfing the internet and I realized that Firefox and IE would just stop connecting to any website at all and would end up timing out. So then I decided to delete Dell Connect via Add/Remove Prog. and it seemed to work for the time being. everything was peachy through Windows Connections.

Then it happened again. I looked into my windows connections and realized that although I was connected to my network but the Internet Connections symbol was gone and there was no Internet Gateway area. I found that disabling and re-enabling the network connection worked but I'm still trying to find a way or a reason why the internet decides to leave.

Hi Im usually pretty good and keeping my computer protected and clean If I ever get a virus I can usually fix it myself by researching and such This time however I m not so lucky I cant seem to figure it out at all I programs hijacked, working, internet google computer. on not internet now no recently got a new wireless card for my computer because I thought my old one was really broken the hard covers had come off so the insides were all sticking out My google hijacked, internet programs not working, now no internet on computer. internet had been running slowly I just figured it was the source of the problem Today however Firefox crashed and I couldn t get it to come back up at all it would just keep crashing Same with Internet Explorer it would load a page and then crash telling me that quot Internet Explorer has encountered an error and needs to shut down quot Google has been redirecting to a sub-site instead of Google itself like I was searching through an outside website I finally thought to try safari I got the internet working but every Google link I clicked would redirect to something completely irrelevant Throughout my troubles I have not been able to load MalwareBytes or AVG They both pop up with error messages before they even load I originally was trying to re-download AVG because I figured whatever virus this is deleted essential files from the program but my installation failed stating the registry key was invalid I believe I got into this mess having made the mistake of downloading an infected torrent file I usually scan them but as I said my virus programs haven t been working lately Stupid me I tried starting in safe mode but it would get stuck and not load at all I tried doing a system restore but the restore point I created when I installed my wireless card is gone as are all other restore points Right now I m using a different computer because I cant even access an internet connection on mine anymore I cant disable my connection or repair it its quite frustrating Id like to post a HijackThis log but I don t know how I would do that at this time I would really appreciate if someone could just help me talk me through or something running windows xp service pack thanks

A:Laptop connected to internet but internet explorer cannot display webpages.

it maybe a virus or firewall blocking access
a little more information

windows version you are running
how are you connected to the modem or router - by cable or wireless

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG etc

do you have a proxy setup - see how to clear here

- try safemode with networking
as the PC starts keep tapping F8 - a menu appears - choose

I am having Internet connectivity issues that only affect my computer and only affect it when I'm using a wired connection as opposed to a wireless connection I would just use the wireless except that it's too weak here at my house especially in the room affects Internet wireless not wired but connectivity problem, internet where I'm working and thus it's slow or doesn't work But now it's all I have unless I use another computer From my computer I can access the NAT router's settings page by entering into my browser and I can even reboot the router from it but I cannot access the Internet When I type into a cmd window tracert it works and even when I type in tracert my internet IP it works but typing tracert followed by any other IP fails saying Host Unreachable My point is that it's obviously not the network connection because otherwise Internet connectivity problem, affects wired internet but not wireless I wouldn't be able to access the router from my computer And it's definitely not the DNS or DHCP servers since I can verify that both are working But the icon in the system tray on my computer says quot No internet access quot You might think it's the router or the ISP but when I boot in safe mode the wired Internet connectivity is working and I can access the Internet normally Plus I tried power cycling both the router and the cable modem but that didn't have any Internet connectivity problem, affects wired internet but not wireless affect And like I said only this computer is affected I noticed the trouble began after I installed Nero and restarted my computer Before that I was able to access the Internet normally I need Nero because I'm burning CDs or else I would just uninstall it and see if that corrects the problem Besides I cannot think of any reason why Nero would be having that affect on my computer especially since it is working normally otherwise I have Windows Home Premium -bit and I am accessing the Internet behind a Linksys E Cisco NAT router My wired network adapter is a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller Drivers are up to date Thanks for your attention and let me know if any of you have any ideas on how to fix it I've tried everything that I can think of It's a bummer not having Internet on my computer since I need it for work

A:Internet connectivity problem, affects wired internet but not wireless

Try reinstalling the LAN driver for your mobo or see if there is an updated driver for it.

I fear that an old PC I recently purchased from a garage computer connecting to WinXP Internet old behavior after Strange internet sale may have had a virus that spread throughout my network First a little bit of background about this computer Around December of last year it was infected by a virus that seemed to be neutralized after some assistance But within a week Strange internet behavior after connecting old WinXP computer to Internet the computer wouldn t even start up anymore as it would freeze up before even displaying the desktop icons To my dismay I found out that the Vista install CD had ran away to some remote area of the downstairs garage so I installed a copy of Windows Server I had on hand I got it for free Anyways long story short it turned out there wasn t an antivirus in the world that would let me install their software without paying money due to the fact I had a server OS I wound up installing Microsoft Security Essentials knowing very well that it was unsupported But it was the best I could do for free Now let s fast forward to this weekend I had found and purchased a PC for dollars at a garage sale The owners said that it had been in storage for a long time but it had some nice goodies that came with it such as a TV tuner card and it had Windows XP So with great amounts of excitement I slammed that computer tower onto my desk plugged it in and turned it on It wasn t fast but it seemed a bit cool and a bit of a blast to the past after having Windows Vista for the longest time I then connected it to the Internet At that moment I noticed that it had a weird problem when downloading files from any site it would start out downloading a file at full speed but then it would slow down to a halt bytes sec Pausing and resuming the download would make the download go a bit faster but doing this was definitely tedious And now it appears that the problem has migrated itself to my my main PC Unfortunately this makes downloading any medium-sized file a challenge Yesterday it took me about - hours to download a program that would usually take me less than minutes to download Resetting my router hasn t helped It s not connected to any filters on the phone line I ll try calling my ISP when they re open but knowing the fact my computer has no trustworthy virus protection I would bet that my computer once again has a virus I am currently running Windows Server This problem has taken effect on any program I use to browse the Internet whether it s Google Chrome or an installer that needs to download files off of the Internet for it s installation EDIT I have confirmed that this problem also occurs on my iPod Touch which means it must be a router problem Could a virus still have anything to do with it though

I've been having this problem for awhile now. I open programs such as Itunes, Bit torrent, even DVD's with internet extra's and they all pop up with check to see if you are connected to the internet. My internet is working fine. I can Google up a storm no problem. I have Windows Firewall on however all of these programs are allowed thru so it's not that. I have no Proxy settings in Firefox. Any ideas? Please?

Hello, if it were me seeing that on my computer , I would update and run full scan of Malwarebytes Antimalware, and also SuperAntiSpyware , and see if I had any spyware or malware , I would also run my Anti Virus program. You can get Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware free.

Hi if possible slow wireless boosters, signal, Internet extending etc. internet I d like some help with my home internet and what the best ways round it are - I am four stories above the main wireless Internet boosters, extending wireless signal, slow internet etc. hub and we have a devolo booster on this floor This works absolutely fine for the computer which is plugged directly into it but any computer or phone etc which tries to connect via the wireless Internet boosters, extending wireless signal, slow internet etc. from the booster is almost unusably slow - and definitely unusable if more than one device is connected What is the best thing I can do to improve this I thought perhaps another booster halfway between the main hub and the booster might help but is there a better way of doing it Also how to put a password on a devolo booster This one was set up before I got here and stupidly didn t have a password on it - turned out half the neighbourhood was using it I blocked them all from the bthomehub site but have to go back every week or so to check nobody new has connected which is a bit of a pain I am another desktop on this floor for myself which will need quick internet for work purposes - maybe getting a booster which I can plug in manually But would this help the signal for wireless devices Help with this would be VERY much appreciated Thank you nbsp

A:Internet boosters, extending wireless signal, slow internet etc.

do you have the exact model number of the device

you may be able to use a powerline which uses the electrical wiring to transfer the signal
so you plug one end into a socket near the router with a LAN cable connected to the router
and then another one plugs into a socket on the 4th floor and you can get a wireless option - although never used

you could also use an extender on 2nd floor

If you have a laptop wireless enabled - try using xirrus (see below) - see below to map out the signal strength - for an extender to work - it needs to be in an area where its getting a good signal - I would suggest -50 to -60 on the xirrus - BUT the signal must not fluctuate below -70 - hence the graph is useful to monitor for a few minutes

need the exact model to see how to apply security - but you probably need to connect to the unit and then using its IP address you log into the configuration pages and add the wireless security

it should use IP address assigned from your homehub - add mac address to the home hub , although that can be overcome - it will stop the casual user

A:suspected malware- internet browsing almost impossible although connected to the internet

Using more than one anti-virus program is not advisable. The primary concern with doing so is due to conflicts that can arise when they are running in real-time mode simultaneously and issues with Windows resource management. Even when one of them is disabled for use as a stand-alone scanner, it can affect the other. Anti-virus software components insert themselves into the operating systems core and using more than one can cause instability, crash your computer, slow performance and waste system resources. When actively running in the background while connected to the Internet, they both may try to update their definition databases at the same time. As the programs compete for resources required to download the necessary files this often can result in sluggish system performance or unresponsive behavior. Each anti-virus may interpret the activity of the other as malicious behavior and there is a greater chance of them alerting you to a "False Positive". If one finds a virus or a suspicious file and then the other also finds the same, both programs will be competing over exclusive rights on dealing with that virus or suspicious file. Each anti-virus may attempt to remove the offending file and quarantine it at the same time resulting in a resource management issue as to which program gets permission to act first. If one anit-virus finds and quarantines the file before the other one does, then you encounter the problem of both wanting to scan each other's zipped or archived files and each reporting the other's quarantined contents. This can lead to a repetitive cycle of endless alerts that continually warn you that a virus has been found when that is not the case. Anti-virus scanners use virus definitions to check for malware and these can include a fragment of the virus code which may be recognized by other anti-virus programs as the virus itself. Because of this, most anti-virus programs encrypt their definitions so that they do not trigger a false alarm when scanned by other security programs. Other vendors do not encrypt their definitions and they can trigger false alarms when detected by the resident anti-virus. Further, dual installation is not always possible because most of the newer anti-virus programs will detect the presence of others and may insist they be removed prior to download and installation of another. Nonetheless, to avoid these problems, use only one anti-virus solution. Deciding which one to remove is your choice. Be aware that you may lose your subscription to that anti-virus program's virus definitions once you uninstall that software. Anti-virus vendors recommend that you install and run only one anti-virus program at a timeSymantec's statement.Avast's statement.AVG's statement.Dell Support statement.Try resetting Internet Explorer. Doing this will reset the browser back to the way it was when initially installed. Right now, my internet is not working. I'm running Windows XP Media Center. I tried reseting the router, uninstalling the network adaptor and rebooting, and tried to renew the ip address in cmd. Right now I suspect its a virus but avast is unable to detect nor malawarebytes. (The internet connection is through a lan connection and I was able to connect to the internet through another computer).

Previously completed steps not here.

After running Defrogger, the internet, started to work again.
