I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

can we see a device manager screen shot - lots of laptops have a switch for the wireless that turns the wireless off - physical switch or combination of FN + F key

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Device Manager
Post back the results in device manager
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

windows key and pause Key should open to allow device manager to be seen on laptops may need to use windows key + FN key + Pause Key
if not then

Start > control Panel {Vista set to classic view}> system > {Vista, device manager on left hand side} {XP hardware Tab, device manager button} >
windows 7
start > control panel> System and Security> Device Manager

network adaptors, click on the + > post back the devices listed there
are there any ! ? or X
post a screen shot of the device manager - network adapters

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here

Hi, I have an aspire s7-391. Since 2 weeks ago, wifi suddenly stopped working. The network adapter seems to work fine, but when I turn on the wifi button in the windows settings screen, it immediately turns off again. I had the same issue with the touchpad, but that was solved by the FN+t button, however, for the wifi this doesn't work. The only things that changed was that a few days before it stopped, I got some windows update, but wifi continued to work a bit longer until it stopped, so I guess they are not related. I tried reinstalling windows already but no effect.  Specs:Windows 10 proNetwork adapater: Qualcomm Atheros AR5BMD222 Driver: 10.0.0.276 I hope anyone can help me..

See if you can use the shortcut FN + Q to turn on the WiFi. If that doesn't work, you may try refreshing Windows using the instructions at http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/37335

The reason why I signed up in this forum is s I can seek help fron those that might know more about computer than me, in order to solve my problem

A few days ago, my laptop was working perfectly fine. But then, I turned my computer off, the next day, everything started up as normal, with Windows 7 Home Premium still in the backgrounds when I am logging in but then, the network connecter won't automatically start. So I was left without internet for a bit. Whats more, I noticed that the taskbar, which was always semi-transparent before, is now white. As well as all the title bars of the programs that I open, turned into blue!

Is computer has always ran Windows 7 as far as I am aware, but e way the taskbar, and the title bars, are behaving, reminds me of windows xp.

I first tried to look up how to solve my wifi problem. I manually opened the network connecter in the control panel, and tried to "Connect to a network". But it didn't detect any wifi servers! Which is odd since I had always used the one my family used, and I am using wifi on that server at this moment!

When I tried to use troubleshoot on my "internet connections", it first showed me that the issue was "The Diagnostic Policy Service is not running" but then every other time I tried to troubleshoot again, it doesn't show any problems detected

And with the problem of the taskbar, I tried to search solutions, and found some. I right-clicked while on the desktop and clicked on "personalize". And my sources tol me to select an aero theme. However, all ofthe aero themes are greyed-out, and I am unable to select any of them. The only theme that I am able to select is my "unsaved theme", which has a square with a blue pirtion on the top that has a white bar in it, and the bottom, which is the white portion, and has a black bar across it. All the themes with the roundish edges and clear squares are unselectable...

I have no idea whats wrong with my computer now, would somebody please help me? Alnost all other programs are functioning fine, but the wifi is not connecting(Oh, and I am unable to adjust my screen brightness)

All help are thanked!

BTW, I wrote this on my iPad mini

No idea what the problem might be but it doesn't sound good.

Have you considered using System Restore to take your system back to when it was working correctly?

This would be by far the easiest way to fix this type of problem, the link shows you how.

I recently updated my Inspiron 14" 5459 to the Windows 10 anniversary update, i noticed that when my wifi access point changes or wifi signal drops or turning off wifi, my laptop semi-freezes, you could still scroll with the mouse or track pad and select open tabs but that's all, clicking other icons and even the windows start menu does not work, if you wait for more than 5 minutes, everything goes back to normal. Waiting around for about 5 minutes is annoying so what I do is press ctrl alt delete and from there restart the laptop. my wifi adapter is updated to the most recent version and also both graphics card (intel hd 520 and amd radeon m335) is also updated to the latest version.  Any suggestion on how to resolve this issue?

A:after Windows 10 anniversary update, Inspiron 5459 freezes if wifi is turned off or wifi access point is changed, is there a solution to this problem?

Please confirm the wireless card from the device manger or the network control panel. Also please update the BIOS firmware to the latest version. The BIOS update should ideally be version v1.2.2. Also please try system out with  a LAN cable as well to confirm if is indeed caused by the wireless. Though this may not run a complete diagnostics on the network you can run a hardware diagnostics on the computer using the following steps

Shutdown the computer
Hold the 'Fn' key and turn on the computer
Let go of the 'Fn' key after 2 seconds

This is will initiate the H/w diagnostics. Please let us know if it completes or if  you run into any errors. If  you do run into any errors.

I sought online but it's only people reporting the problem and NOBODY giving a solution. pleas pleeeaaaase somebody help.

A:Netgear N300 WiFi USB Mini Adapter stuck detecting adapter

Power down PC...while it off remove USB wifi adapter....power on PC. When PC has finished booting up, search in the uninstall programs list for any software related Netgear and uninstall it. Reboot and start the process again.

According to the system requirements for that device, it does not support windows 10, which may be you issue.

Hi Ron, Welcome to Sevenforums.

Try this to start

Control Panel > Administration Tools > Computer Management > Services & Applications > Services.

Scroll down this list to find 'WLAN Auto Config'

Double click on 'WLAN Auto Config' On the general tab, select from the start up type drop down menu, select 'Automatic'. Under Service Status click on 'Start'. Then 'Apply' these settings and exit from all open control panel windows.

This should then allow Windows to set the required bindings.

Hi, My laptop has a very weak wifi detection. Only when the wifi signal is very strong can it detect the wifi. I tried contacting HP regarding the same. They said it could be a loose connection with the wifi antenna. I have been waiting for the custumer service in my area to contact me(like HP promised!!!) for quite a long time now . Now I am in urgent need to get this fixed. I was wondering if an external wifi adapter would solve this issue. Mine is a Windows 10 laptop. Model no: ab030tx (pavilion). If an external adapter works, what would you suggest? (I am confused as a lot of products available in market only convert the laptop to a hotspot)

I have a HP Notebook 15. I restarted my laptop this morning and when it came back on, all options for connecting to the internet via WiFi were gone. I am able to connect to the internet via ethernet cable, and everything works this way. There are no options whatsoever to connect to WiFi or reset the connection or anything, however the WiFi itself is working because other devices in the house are connected to it. I followed a HP technical support online page, which provided step-by-step instructions of various ways to reconnect to WiFi but nothing worked. I tried restarting the computer, updating the driver software, making sure it wasn't in airplane mode, and troubleshooting. Nothing worked. What should I try next?

I just bought a brand new Asus K52F and when the laptop goes into sleep mode the "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter & WiFi Miniport Adapter #2" fail. When i turn the computer back on i have trouble connecting to the internet, and the devices have error (code 43). I can still connect to the internet though. I have re-downloaded the drivers, rolled them back, updated them, everything but it hasn't worked. Any help would be sweet.

Also can anyone tell me what the white light up button next to the power button does??

A:WiFi Miniport Adapter/Adapter #2 Error

The virtual wifi mini port adaptor is used as a virtual wifi device so you can turn your machine into a wireless AP "access point" either with commands or the connectify software. The adaptor sometimes activates itself and causes problems, even when your not using it as an access point.

It should fix the problem if you go into device manager, go to "view" top of page, then choose "show hidden devices" which should allow you to see the mini port, disable the virtual mini port adaptor and that should fix the problem.

That little button next to the power button is a reset button, it's like restarting but a little different.

My Toshiba Satellite A300 is having the following problem:

- When the laptop is turned ON, the computer DOES NOT recognize the AC adapter. It uses the battery until its depletion.
I'm only able to charge the battery with the laptop turned off. I've already tried several AC adapters and the same symtoms persist.
What could this be?

A:Wireless network adapter is turned on, but PC say`s it is not

Well; at this point what i would do is go into the device manager section of the system section of the control panel and remove any wireless adapters listed in the system section. Then reboot and let windows hopefully re-detect and reinstall the adapter(s). Also, one other thing to try is to power cycle your network equipment. Unplug the power cords to both the router and modem; wait about a minute or so; then plug the modem back in first and let that fully boot; then plug the router back in and let that fully boot. Try both of these things and see what happens. If neither of these solve your issue; post back and we can take it from there.

So, there are many articles out there that will show you how to use cmd prompt to create a wifi hotspot (eg: this article Internet Connection Sharing - Create WiFi HotSpot)

However, is there anyway to do this with TWO separate wifi adapters? That is, use one adapter to connect to your router and the other to act as the router? Some articles seem to indicate this is the ideal setup but no one seems to specify how to control which wifi adapter is used to create the wifi hostpot in command prompt.

Thanks for any help.

If I can get the basics to work, the next step is to try to integrate a VPN so that I can basically use my PC as a VPN router (but with no physical ethernet connection).

It is no different than bridging an Ethernet and Wifi adapter.

Actually my wifi adapter can catch all other wifi signal except my wifi router.

A:my notebook wifi adapter don't get my wifi router

There are several resons.1. The wifi signal might be too weak at the point where the computer is.2. Other device radiation/signals might be blocking it.3. Your router signal might be hodden (check EWS of router).4. Signal broadcasting might have been turned off on router. Since other signals are found on the computer, there shouldnt be a issue with your couputer.

Everyone's had the problem of wanting to disable the wifi miniport, or enable it to share wifi.

I have a different problem. I would like to change which wireless device the wifi miniport uses, as the external USB wireless adapter I was using died. I cannot see the wifi miniport adapter without that device attached, it seems. I don't even know if the wifi adapter even as options to select which wireless card to use even if I could get it to appear.

Is there a way to do this without having to resort to reinstalling Windows 7?

I am fairly familiar with netsh. No command line option seems to be available to switch network adapters for the wifi miniport.

It also appears that it will simply not switch to the only wireless network adapter detected, and I know it will host a virtual wifi network, I've done ICS/AdHoc before.

A:How does one change which wifi adapter the wifi miniport uses?

I tried the solution in this link: How to change default Microsoft Virtual WiFi miniport adapter?

This did not work.

Hello I'm recently experiencing issues with my Dell Inspiron I have an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC adapter issue turned off WiFi and ever since yesterday it stopped working completely When I click on the wifi button in the taskbar it says the WiFi is quot Turned off quot However there's no way to turn it on Even if I click network settings and click the wifi toggle it instantly goes back to off I tried to go through the troubleshooter and it suggests that the physical switch is off However i have no physical switch and the only related key I have on my keyboard WiFi turned off issue is for the airplane mode and is currently off I tried to run a Ubuntu Live disk and it gave WiFi turned off issue the same issue radio hardware off or something similar To make it even weirder yesterday I had left the laptop alone for an hour or so and when I came back it was working again But this morning it was off again and it is not working ever since then Of course I tried restarting and even restoring from a previous backup but to no avail Please let me know if you have any suggestions Thanks in advance L EDIT I also tried reinstalling the drivers both the newest ones from Intel and the latest on Dell's website IIRC but nothing changed

A:WiFi turned off issue

Hi, given what you said about checking this with a boot disk, it sounds more like a hardware problem, assuming you know it worked with the boot disk previously.

(The erratic behaviour you're observing is odd as you know. However I also find MS providing the Wifi tile on the Action Centre (as well as my physical button) confusing).

Presumably you are not also using an ethernet connection.

You can get more information and lots of technical detail if you open
Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network Connections
& rt click on the WiFi connection and click 'Diagnose'.

You can also check these (shown with Wifi connected)

Forgive me for not knowing the proper terms, but am newer to the Wifi game - have only had it since February.

Our Gateway Laptop has always recognized our Wifi signal until a week ago. Now whenever it goes to sleep or is shut off it does not recognize that we have internet. Instead of the 5 bar icon showing; it has a red x. The only way I can get it to connect is to reboot. I have done a system refresh and also tried to update the driver (Realtek RTL8188CE) but it says I have the most up-to-date version.

This is extremely frustrating! Does anyone have any ideas?

A:Wifi Capability being turned off

"Troubleshoot problems" (right click the network icon) can fix the majority of issues without needing a reboot. It will turn off the adapter and re-initialize the drivers.

On portable devices the wireless adapter can be manually turned off for most devices. It is usually a Fn key that is used to turn wireless off.
Wireless can be disabled and enabled, within the list of network connections (Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections).
I know it is frustrating and I don't have a proper solution for you. Especially when you say you have updated your drivers. But the above may help in keeping you from having to completely restart your machine.

One thought does come to mind though. That is checking to see if the wireless is set to turn off when the PC goes in sleep mode. Keeping wireless active could keep it from bugging out.

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change Plan Settings
Change advanced power settings
Wireless Adapter settings > Power Savings Mode > Setting:
There is a choice between (Performance, Low, Med, and Max)
My desktop never sleeps and wireless is set to performance. So I have no experience with the setting, I just know it is there.

can you connect the pc directly to the router with a cable and then

Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file to the faulty PC and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply

http://go.pardot.com/l/66982/2015-01-26/2361i
enter you details
Download this file "DOWNLOAD WI-FI INSPECTOR Vx.xx "
( the site now appears to allow webbased emails like gmail, hotmail, outlook and yahoo now )

There is also a xirrus gadget, But that does not have all the fuctionality "DOWNLOAD GADGET Vx.xx

Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You will need to have NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.
On windows 8 - (i do not have windows 8) but, it would appear that, When you first try to run, you may get a message that .net framework is needed, and included in that message is a link to download/install.

Run the program

A user guide is available here
http://www.xirrus.com/cdn/pdf/xirruswifiinspectorguide1-2-0

post a screen shot of the program running.
if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information.

post which SSID name is yours, its located in the list, under network "Adapter Name" (1st column)
Note:
For a reliable (or robust as the Xirrus user guide says) wireless connection you need a signal of about -70 dBm or better. "A desirable signal level for a robust Wi-Fi connection will be green".
note: the signal level is a negative number, so for example -88 is worst and -40 is better

To post a screen shot of the active window.

Windows XP
Hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application (Start> All Programs> Accessories> Paint) and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.

Vista or Windows 7
you can use the "snipping tool" which is found in Start> All programs> Accessories> Snipping Tool

Windows 8 & 10
you can use the snipping tool > Open Snipping Tool

I recently bought an ASUS a456ur, and had windows 10 anniversary update installed into it. I had this problem: i can't turn off the wifi unless i turn on the airplane mode, and make all the connection turned off, including bluetooth, which i needed to connect to a bluetooth speaker of mine. And also, if i turned on the airplane mode, i can't turn it off by turning on wifi.
i tried to turn off the wifi by various way. i tried to disabling it from the menu popped out when you click the wifi logo from your notification bar, i tried to disabling it from the settings, and tried to disabling it from the actiion center, and none of them is working.
things i have done:
try disabling wifi from ubuntu, and it works,
updating the driver of the network devices

A:Wifi can't be turned off, unless by airplane mode

Even with the Function key combo you cannot? Sometimes you have to press Fn and the Function key, if you did not change it to standard Function key operation.

I've already consulted Samsung about this issue, and they want me to Refresh (windows 8) my laptop. I have important programs and I DON'T WANT TO DO THAT.

Started about half an hour ago, I plugged my laptop into the wired connection because it was downloading 6 GB. Plugging in a cord activates Airplane mode. In theory, once out of Airplane Mode, WiFi will turn back on. NORMALLY IT DOES, BUT NOW IT DOESN'T. THIS IS REALLY PISSING ME OFF.

PLEASE HELP ME. IT'S A BRAND NEW LAPTOP, NOT TO MENTION MY SECOND ONE OF IT.

I would suggest contacting Microsoft as it seems to be a software issue and not hardware. Especially if you can turn on the wireless manually.

Hi there

Recreate the wireless connection on your PC.
Windows 7 - Goto Control Pannel -> Network and Sharing Center.
Click on "Manage Wireless Networks" (Left Pane).
Remove the current wireless connection.

****Try the following only if you know how to setup a router from scratch or you have access to your ISP's tech support so that they can guide you....

Reset the router and start from scratch.
Hope this helps

My wife has a toshiba Satellite L645D-S4040 running Windows 7 64 bit. This morning she ran an update and has since lost wifi and Fn F8 does not work. Went to Toshiba site and downloaded and ran the TVAP. It got rid of the Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter and we still can't get the wifi to enable. Unfortunately she does not remember which update it was that she performed. Help.

It's always happened, at least ever since we upgraded his computer to windows 10, and then upgraded our internet from AT&T to cox (about a month ago).

My mom runs an old refurbished vista computer and I have an inspiron Windows 7 computer. Literally all he has to do is turn his machine on and the internet shuts off and reboots itself.

Does anyone have any idea why this is?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. My mom works at home and she would appreciate being able to work in peace without disruption.

I bought a notebook HP Pavilion G4 2260-br, that came with Windows 8. It worked fine until some Windows Update that made the keyboard stop working when I turn on the wifi (Actually it is not the whole keyboard, its the backspace, enter and space keys). A:No internet connection after I turned my laptop into wifi hotspot

To my knowledge the WiFi adapter work as either a connection point to a WiFi router/Wireless access point or AS a wireless Access Point, WiFi Hot Spot, but not both. So you would need to connect the notebook to a router (internet connection) with a Ethernet cable. Then the computer will take the internet from the Cable and send it out to connected devices.

Hi there
We just got my dad an ADVENT 7109 laptop. Its a great little machine for the money, but what we find very very annoying is that it boots up without having WIFI turned on.
It doesnt have a switch on it so you could permanently leave it on, if has a actual button(that can only be pressed once the pc has been turned on).
Does anyone know how I can make this laptop have wifi automatically turn itself on when I boot it up?
It is quite annoying.
thanks

A:internet connection not shared by my laptop turned wifi hotspot

If the sharing tab is missing then it means that the driver isn't up to date. About the only way to fix that is to look for a more recent version of the wireless driver. Just updating or reinstalling the driver might be enough although some adaptors simply can't support this feature as per Paul Thurrott's page on this.

In searching the web for a wifi adapter for my desktop PC, I find both adapter cards to be installed inside the case as well as "dongels" which connect to an external USB port. Is it safe to assume that the technology & thus the performance would be the same, ie not dependent on where the adapter is installed?
I would like to connect via wifi to a router located about 600 feet from my apartment, so perhaps an adapter with the ability to add a high gain antenna might be the way to go?
Am considering Rosewill RNX-G300LX and Rosewill RNX-G1.
Any comments would be appreciated.

I don't know for sure. All that I do know is that my PC doesn't have a WIFI adapter. But after installing the newest software version 4 and enabling WIFI on the iPhone, I now have WIFI access called "Jigs" whenever I am near my PC. I suspect that it is using my FIOS router's wireless for this.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I am going from a router in my house to a laptop in my shop which is about 80' away. My old laptop finally gave up, but it was working good before as it had a built in Wifi. My question is I am wanting to place a desktop computer that does not have Wifi in my shop and was wondering which Wifi adapter to use.

The 2 that I am looking at are:

1. TP-LINK TL-WN722N ----- here is a link to one listed for sale on Newegg: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16833704045

2. Edimax EW-7811UN 150Mbps Wireless 11n Nano Size USB Adapter ---- link:http://www.walmart.c...apter/17419471
Which of these 2 will give the best signal strength, speed, etc. or are there other Wifi adapters that are priced under $20 or so that are better?
Thanks ~ Dan

Go to Start > Control Panel > Device Manager and check the list of devices to see if your wifi adapter is listed - expect to see it with a yellow tag which shows the system has found it but not been able to install the drivers for it. Double click on the device and then the driver tab; click on update driver and wait for the system to find a solution - I am assuming you have a cable connection to the internet as you clearly have access by another means.

Which is better, a usb wifi adapter or pci wifi card, for a desktop.

A:Wifi Adapter

either is fine. I think you will find a pci has slightly more power,eg slightly more range, but also have removable antenna. Most notebooks have wifi built in anyway, so portability of the wifi unit isnt an issue. I'd be going with a pci wifi card myself, mainly because of the antenna options.

My Pavilion 15 notebook has turned an occasional WiFi fault into a regular one. The wifi drops out and there is nothing in network settings about wifi at all. Device manager will occasionally show the wifi adapter, realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 b/g/n, but usually it isn't even there. On the odd ocasion it shows up, properties says there is a problem with this device - this device doesn't exist. Great. Realtek are hopeless as they seem to provide no support. I cannot roll back drivers, installing new ones doesn't work and system restore doesn't fix it. Can I replace it with one that actually works? Do I need a specific type? This problem is likely to result in the laptop taking an unauthorised flight to the bottom of my garden if not resolved as I am an angry ginger person who wants things to just do their job, it's not as if it needs to do much.

Hi,

My first post. I have a two part question.

I have a TP-Link TL-WN95N v1 PCI 300 MPS WiFi adapter. I can find no driver to work with it in Windows 8. Else where on the 'net claims were made an Atheros driver was on board but the only Atheros drivers I have is for Ethernet chipsets. I have got no where looking at Atheros.cz or the TP-Link Support site. If anyone can help me with a driver it would be appreciated.

The next part is can someone tell me what PCI WiFi cards will definitely work with Windows 8.

I am running on a wired network at the moment but not very practical as I wheel my desk into another room.

Thanks,

Robert...

A:PCI WiFi Adapter

There are very few drivers or network adaptors that are made to work with Windows 8 as yet. Most network adaptors that worked with Windows 7 will also work with Windows 8.

Your best bet for your TP-Link TL-WN95N v1 PCI 300 MPS WiFi adapter would be to use the Windows 7 driver and install it in compatibility mode.

You can get the full wireless N speeds of 300Mb/s by going into your routers settings and set to use the "802.11n Only mode" and also use WPA2 security with AES encryption as these are made to work at full wireless N speeds. You would also need very good signal strength and a clear wireless channel for full N speeds.

I need an adapter to enable a LAN via Remote Desktop between my two rigs running W7 x64 Pro. I got to thinking about using a USB adapter, in lieu of a PCI controller, primarily for ease and simplicity, but have never dealt with either option before. Are USB adapters equal to PCI adapters, or is one better than the other? Which ever I use will have to talk with my ZyXel X550 router.

EDIT: The LAN will be operating in a permanent range of ~12 feet, going through one wall. I have no idea of how much bandwidth is required for RDP to function properly.

A:WIFI USB Adapter

Do not go with a dongle, a usb network adapter... I recently bought a Belkin USB adaptor and it has caused me so much stress and after two weeks is still not installed. My intial advice would be to stay wired but if that is not an option a wireless card in a PCI has a better advantage...running something as fiddly as a network through a USB port kind of seems wrong to me. Although I have no experience of network PCI cards I'm sure they beat the hell I had with my Belkin dongle.

Hello ryguy,

If you have not already, check in "Network Connections" to make sure that the Wi-Fi network adapter is enabled.

In addition, double check to make sure that you have Airplane mode turned off, and Wireless devices (Wi-Fi in 8.1) turned on.

I don't know much about computers but from everything Ive read you can uninstall or go to cmd and enter codes to get this adapter to stop working.  I went to device manager and disabled it.  When I go to system information, components, network
and look at my adapters it is enabled.  I started cmd, followed instructions here and disabled it.  After reboot I couldn't connect to the internet.  It said correct driver not installed.  I thought you could connect to the network from
the laptop without this adapter.  Am I misunderstanding something?  Can someone please help?  Like I said, I know nothing about computers.  I just want to connect to our network and internet without using this.

hi
i have bought the following item
500mW 300Mbps 802.11n/g/b Wifi USB Wireless LAN Adapter - eBay (item 260533568467 end time Jan-08-10 11:43:54 PST)

it's from a company named kinamax
i am using windows 7 32 bit, and i downloaded the latest drivers from ralink site

my problem is that i can connect to routers, but i dont get internet
i thought that maybe the adapter is bad but i can actually enter the router settings from the browser, which means it's working but something prevents it from working fully

i also tried at another computer with windows xp, but same problem, but with an other 802.11g adapter it does not have this problem and can surf on the net

in other words it's the popular no internet access problem

please help me, thanks

Win7 sees the adapter right off the bat names it right but does not install drivers for it.

So I tried to use some hacked buffalo drivers that lets me create a softAP and open the adapter up to all devices. -on XP sp2

Seems the drivers are not valid for vista 64bit / win7

So I tried the latest drivers from Nintendo 1.7 and still no luck I try to run the software it says no drivers for my OS and I try to install it manually in DevMang.

Any one have a solution to this?

Hi, I am looking online for a wifi adapter and I have no idea what I am looking for to be honest there are so many different ones and some are very expensive. From what I understand I need to buy one to be able to get internet connection on this. I am very lost when it comes to making sure I don't waste money on the wrong one.

Hi there,

I bought today Lenovo Y50-70, it was without OS, so i installed windows 7 on it. Now im facing
problem, where at internet access there are no available wifi connections. So i installed WLAN driver from
the Lenovo support, also didn't help. I don't know much about drivers, but it seems that under device manager
-> Network Adapters is wireless network adapter or something like that missing and im out of ideas how to
fix it.
Btw, under network adapters are only bluetooth devices and my wireless usb device.

Hi, Which drivers did you do update. My suggestion: roll back the previous point and try to update ONE-BY-ONE. Please use Restore from a system restore point on the following article:     http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows-10/windows-10-recovery-options Regards.

Hi guys, me again.

I'm planning to move to Windows 10 but yesterday i found my linksys wusb600n adapter (which is pretty good regarding stability) doesn't have support regarding new drivers since windows 8...i'm on windows 7 currently.

Pretty much i'm gonna need to buy a brand new one, i need an AC one but so far, despite i've been doing some research, all the adapters have issues.

I bought the linksys AC 1200 adapter last year, a completely fail, speed drops and disconections.

i think these 2 are the "best" on the market currently:

1) Asus USB-AC56
2) Netgear’s A6200

Any suggestions? complaints? thanks in advance.

A:Best Wifi AC adapter 2015?

I was just planning to post a similar thread. I am also looking to buy the best USB wireless adapter compatible with Window 7 regardless of its price.

Based on my humble research of your suggested adapters, it seems both are considered great, but not compatible with Windows 10.

Thank you for this thread. And I apologize for derailing it.

I'm planning to buy a WiFi 5Ghz USB adapter, but I don't know which one is truly plug and play.

Edit: By truly plug-and-play, I mean using the adapter without a driver taken from a website (and manually download it) or from a CD.

The target system is Windows 7, whatever version it can be.

Do anyone know if such WiFi adapters exists ?

A:What WiFi 5Ghz USB adapter buy ?

Pretty much any adapter you buy will work with Win 7. See these: Amazon.com: 5ghz usb wifi

Hello all,

Since a few weeks I'm the proud owner of a wifi usb adapter. When I use him my pc blocks, sometimes almost immediately, sometimes after a few hours, minutes ...

I found yesterday the problem: the wifi adaptor and my graphics card are both using IRQ 16 (I hope that is the problem).

However, I tried to change the IRQ immediately in the hardware overview window, but it's not allowing this.

Can you help me with this?

Thanks in advance!

So basically my computer has stopped detecting wireless networks. It shows the adapter as enabled, but it doesn't show any wireless network; let alone connect. I uninstalled the older drivers and updated to the latest ones; but the same problem persists.

AND, I even tried it out in Ubuntu, and there's a similar problem. It just refuses to detect any network where at the same time my phone and other devices detect around 8-10.

There are high chances that my Wireless LAN adapter has gotten fried, but I'd just like to ask if there are any other steps to debug this issue before I give it to the company for repairs.

PS: I used my WiFi after around 1 month, at that time it worked flawlessly.

A:WiFi adapter fried?

I've seen that problem before (no networks detected), even with a healthy wifi adapter, and a simple reboot of the laptop fixed it on that occasion, although it's entirely possible you could be right about it being "fried".

I m facing problem connecting to wifi from few days. All available wifi networks show poor connectivity and when I connect to any known network, for eg my home wifi, I get very poor connectivity even when I am sitting right next to my router/modem. The adapter also resets many times by itself. When I checked with other laptops in my home if the problem was with wifi, they are working with full connectivity. Plese provide a better soluton.

So I will have a few questions coming up about wifi settings but here is one I'm very curious about right now..

Will turning this off or on give me the full speed of my wifi adapter?

I just want it to have full speed. I've read some of what QoS is and it sounds like it limits things so that certain programs and such can have access to more speed.. however I want my wifi adapter to just always give 100% full speed no matter what for every program at all times.. so why would I turn this on?

thanks

A:More Wifi Adapter question

Why not try things both ways and find out how it effects your system? It's my understanding that you may gain a little bandwidth by turning it off but probably not enough to make it worthwhile.

Thanks for your answers.

A:Problem with my new WiFI Adapter

Hi there
doesn't the laptop have a built in wireless card -- sometimes they don't have LAN ports but I'm sure any laptop (inc cheap netbooks) have had wireless cards already FOR AGES as standard -- at least 10 - 12 years -- just ensure it's enabled.

Cheers

A:wifi adapter gone missing

Supposed drivers? You should download the drivers from the Dell site for your model and try those. Make sure they are the ones for 8.1 64-bit.
