Solved: Possible Wireless card Fault?

Q: Solved: Possible Wireless card Fault?

I have a Sony Wireless Solved: Fault? card Possible Viao laptop with WinXp SP which is now years old We are currently renting a holiday home in the USA which has an unsecured network We have two other laptops and they are connected no problem This morning my Sony worked fine on email and web access but I Solved: Possible Wireless card Fault? was having trouble on FTP Solved: Possible Wireless card Fault? Then email stopped Solved: Possible Wireless card Fault? and then web I have tried all the usual solutions Delete the Network restart etc etc It clearly show the network and also another secured network I cannot access When I connect it shows quot Acquiring network address quot then just hangs If I press repair it hangs on quot Renewing your IP address quot Questions Does the fact that it can see the networks and when I quot ping quot it seems to be OK mean that it CANNOT be a hardware fault I ask this partly because the WLAN switch at the front often does not seem to work when it does work it is green and currently it IS green I need a wireless USB adaptor anyway so if I buy one and just turn off the WLAN switch at the front can I try to connect via that or are there implications if I do that All suggestions gratefully received nbsp

Preferred Solution: Solved: Possible Wireless card Fault?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there, I have an Asus F50SF with an Intel wireless NIC. I am running Vista Business x64. It originally came with Vista Home Premium x86 but I switched it to x64 because it came with 4GB of RAM.

I have noticed that I am having issues reconnecting after I wake the laptop from sleep mode. In order to fix the problem I have to disable and re-enable wireless NIC. I have this issue at home and at school with my school's wireless network.

I have already set the card to not be shut off to save power. I also updated the driver to the latest version

Any suggestions will be good as to what is the issue.

Not sure what setting you changed, but make sure both places prevent the adapter from shutting down.

Thinkpad x200, Win 7pro 32bit, everything works exept:
The SD card reader which is listed in device manager as

RICOH R5U880FlashMedia USB Device

Have uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, installed latest lenovo software, and when a card is inserted the little green light blinks and it shows up as Removable Disk (D: ) but doesn't recognise the card, even when I double click it. I've tried 3 different cards.

So, the computer knows when a card has been inserted but fails to recognise/read the contents.

It shows up as;

Devices with removable storage (1), when double clicked a small window pops up asking for a disk to be inserted.

Any ideas on how to fix this card reader ?

a few weeks ago my computer stopped being able to automatically connect to wireless networks of any kind.. now whenever i want to go online wirelessly i must go to network connections and select a network.. that isn't the problem though.. the problem is that it fails to connect EVERY TIME and i must go through the troubleshooter.. which then tells me that the access point is bad (which is every access point on the planet) and still does not connect.. but, after going through this process a 2nd time it will connect. it has me confused. I know the first thing said is the driver is out of date, but since toshiba refuses to bring out a new one for this laptop and they have their own drivers for everything on this thing, there isn't much in that route i can do.

A:card's or game's fault?

It could be related to a number of things, such as heat, power loss, too many system resources being used, other system parts bottlenecking or the game being too high a setting or a combination of them.

To check if its PSU/Temp problem:
Since you got a new vid card, generaly, thats going to eat much more power out of the PSU than the integrated. And seeing as you got a prebuilt machine, guesses are you got a cheap PSU with it, or one that no longer meets your requirements. We'll deal with the Heat issue first:
-does your pc feel hot?
-does your fans sound like they're spinning faster than they should?
-have you cleaned out the dust in it with a can/source of compressed air recently?
If you haven't cleaned it out, then do so, but anyways, download Everest Home or Speedfan, and post the temps here. All of them. Be sure to include a reading of when the pc is idle and when you play say, 5 minutes into the game.

3 things you need to check, and post here: the PSU (open the pc case up, and there should be an info sticker on the side, post everything - rails, amps, watts, model, brand)
-then check using a calculator such as this and input your system specs into it, to determine your minimum power needs, then add 30-50watts ontop of that for headroom.
-If you have trouble completeing that last step, or you dont have a clue whats there to fill in blanks, then you can use Everest Home to help you.
-In everest or speedfan, post us the voltages as well, and likewise post results while idle and while runing something intensive for a few minutes.
The ram is advisable to be increased (to 1GB if possible) but from what you said these two (psu and/or heat) are probably the most likely things, so we'll start from there, and work our way down the list. Oh yeh, some indication on what your pc is like would be nice, such as system specs.

A:Repeated BSODs, NIC card at fault ?

welcome to techspot.

the errors you reported are the result of a hardware problem. run the computer in each of the following configurations until you get a system error or the machine runs flawlessly for a day or two:
-with the onboard NIC on and connected to the modem
-with the onboard NIC on but not connected to anything
-with the onboard NIC disabled in your bios

at a glance, it seems likely that your problems were caused by faulty hardware, but these steps are important for diagnosing the problem.

Dear forum, I have experienced a very annoying fault with my Logitech M235 wireless mouse, I prefer to use the mouse left handed and as such reset the buttons for Lh use via the software. In the past this was ok and when the computer was restarted it was as before reset for Lh use. This is also used with a Logitech wireless keyboard model K350 and has in the past worked Ok with the mouse. A problem has occurred since the Win 10 upgrade and I now have to reset the mouse to Lh use every time I restart the computer, I have been into device manager and disabled all the redundant devices (default mouse drivers etc.) and this has not worked. I have also tried to remove all the redundant devices using device manager and this does not work either. Any useful advice on how to overcome this problem would be most appreciated.

Regards Miket.

Dell XPS 410 originally shipped with Vista and now has XP working on it. We get random BSoD's and I have attached the last 5 minidumps. Replaced the RAM, full system reload with the latest drivers - I think the problem is related to the 2wire wireless usb adapter LC_usb.

If anybody wants to analyze the minidumps then I thank you in advance.

A friend of mine has sent me a photo of his laptop (as attached). Does anyone know if this is the screen that is broken or could it be something else maybe, like the Graphics Card.

The only information that he has been able to give me is, that his daughter was using Google and then this happened.

So while I'm in the middle of enjoying my library of games, like TF2, WoW, and TES 5: Skyrim, my screen flickers and an error notification pops up, saying my graphics card recovered from an error, several times and then my computer bluescreens and does a physical memory dump cycle before restarting

There's also an array of artifacts (or "ghosts", as my circle of friends have started calling them) that keep flickering all around the screen, which has been going on for awhile, but i've just been ignoring it as a mild inconvenience up until now.

Do I need to get a new graphics card before this is fixed, or is something else the problem?

Hello! ^_^ I have just recently purchased a Hawking Hi- Speed Wireless G PCI Card today and I've already placed it in my computer and tried to install the Drivers. After I installed the utility a gray icon appeared in the task tray and I hovered the mouse over it and it said: Status: Not Exist. I guess it said that because I didn't install the drivers. But I lent it to someone and now I've got it back the wireless doesn't work. I'm using the Acer eNet management and it says there are no wireless networks. I can connect to my network using the same model of laptop, so it's not that.

When I use windows to diagnose the problem it says my wireless card has been disabled and there should be a switch on the outside to enable it (which there isn't) or a function key combination (which I can't find). The wireless card is built in to the laptop.

I would be extremely grateful for any help.

While I was on the wireless internet I tried refreshing the page and it said that no wireless signal was found. My router is working because 2 other desktops that use the wireless signal are still able to connect. I am able to connect to the internet with a Ethernet cord but my laptop will not pick up the wireless signal.
Do you think this might be a hardware or software problem? If so, what do you recommend that I do?

On one side you have a CardBus (or PCMCIA) slot or a (smaller) ExpressCard slot. My bet is that the diagrams in the "Quick Tour" section of the "Setup Instructions" that came with your laptop show an ExpressCard slot on the right side to the left of the optical drive.

I did a little searching and found that those two programs are part of the D-Link wireless utility for handling WPA encryption. I don't know why, because all utilities I've used haven't needed such extra animals to handle WPA.

Anyhow, the only possibly useful thing I found was 'You wont be able to remove them unless you run the uninstaller for the entire "AirPlus Xtreme G" utility ... .' In one sentence you said you could not uninstall these two, and in another you said that you did. If the first sentence is true, try the referenced uninstall utility.

You can use Windows XP's Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) to manage the wireless adapter.

It is able to detect the network but if it does connect, it says there is no signal.

What can I do to fix this?

We have an emachines M622-UK8X laptop running Win XP and with an internal wireless card. Recently, the system has had a hard time accessing our wireless network, and now it can not find the wireless network even in the same room the router is in. I went to device manager and uninstalled the card then rebooted. It 'found' the new hardware, but still not finding the wireless network. I also tried a system restore to last month, ran norton systemworks and scanned for viruses. The other issue seems to be a general slowdown of the system, but I'm primarily interested in trying to resolve the wireless issue. Any suggestions?

I have a Lynksys -N router . For my other PC's in the house to access the router does the wireless PCI card have to be a 'N' card or will any card work. This is not for file sharing just internet access.

A:Solved: Does the wireless card have to match the router?

Any G card can be used (along with an N) but I would have stayed away from ANY N series router at this time.

Please help. I have Dell D630 Laptop, was Vista, then 7, ( has been running Win 10 successfully on Wireless) Started showing problems on boot-up, but always got started using the network troubleshooter. Then Total failure. I've re-installed a clean copy of win 7, same disk works sucessfully on another Dell 1545. I've had the w/lan module out, cleaned the connectors with electrolube, but booting-up, doesn't recognise w/lan. How do I go about further troubleshooting. I can do quite a bit but 76 year old silvery. Thanks

So recently i found the USB dongle i used to use frequently just stopped working frequently disconnecting and when it does connect - it only does for a very small amount of time Thinking it was perhaps the dongle and not a hardware problem - the signal Solved: Dongle - and a Card No floor from Wireless below and PCI both i'm i bought another - and still the same result Right now i m positioned directly below the WPA router SKY so in other words i m one floor below - which isn t that far considering other laptops around the house with wireless adapters can still get a fantastic signal floors down So i thought that perhaps dongles are just not powerful enough - and so i bought a PCI Solved: No signal from both Dongle and PCI Wireless Card - and i'm a floor below the wireless card from amazon one that was very well reviewed however when i bought it and set it up i got the same problems as the USB dongles - it works very rarely and if it does the signal is terrible and most of the time it remains unconnected to the router Any ideas on this one - i ve run Netstumbler and have had no results whatsoever - the signal has deteriorated so much now that i can t even get onto the internet from my computer I m actually considering drilling a hole in the roof and simply running an ethernet cable through it and just connecting it to the connection the router s connected too I guess that ll be a last resort Incredibly confused and need help - obviously its not a usb problem as i ve used a PCI card to the job but still no dice Thanks for reading and hope you can help nbsp

I have Windows XP Home SP3 on a Compaq Presario R4025CA, which has a Broadcom 802.11b g wlan driver. It looks like I'm connected to the net, but I can't access any information online at all. I tried repairing the connection, disabling/re-enabling the connection, uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, and am now in the process of error checking my machine.

I haven't made any major changes to hardware/software, defraged the disk or anything in the last just stopped workind suddently.

Any suggestions?

My Netgear MA311 802.11b PCI card sees the network of my Linksys WRT53G router, and the signal strength is high. However, when I try to connect to it, it says it's detecting the network type, then I get the error that's attached. It works fine with the cable plugged in, and I was able to connect to someone else's wireless network. The router works wirelessly with my laptop. It seems like there's something wrong with the combination of this router and this wireless card. I'm guessing that it's just a setting I need to change on the router, but I have no idea what to look for. Any ideas on where I should start?

Hy, I bought a new Sony Vaio VGN-FZ485U notebook with windows vista ultimate. In the first weeks the wireless adapter worked but after an update the wireless cannot connect to any signal. I tried everything immaginable: I used the repair conenction feature from vista, reinstall the driver, reset winsock, disable ip6, choose different settings for wireless card and still nothing. I cannot connect. The only other simptom I fund was that the card is not shown in ipconfig /all window. The cable connection works. All the drivers are up-to-date and "working properly". P.S.: system restore is disabled P.P.S.: I really don't want to reinstall the "marvelous" windows vista ultimate If anyone have any idea how to solve this please reply!

Hi guys.

I have a problem with my desktop PC where the wireless card is detected but will not show any networks in range when there are several including my home network. I already replaced my wireless card as the last one wasn't showing at all on device manager and was a bit dated anyway. The new card shows on device manager but when I clock the icon in toolbar it just says no connections are available.

Does anyone have any suggestions before I go ahead and reinstall windows, which I'd prefer to avoid.

When I go to the device manager to uninstall it - I get an error message saying something along the lines of - It is needed for bootup and cannot be uninstalled ?
