Preferred Solution: What Is The Ultimate Gaming Computer?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Howdy.

I need a new computer. My budget is 1000. I am able to build it from components myself. I intend to overclock it, and intend to gear it towards gaming.

Where did you buy [the parts for] your last computer? Was the site you used a good place?

Off of all the interwebs, what is my best bet?

i recently upgraded my processor and board to
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition

MSI 870A-G54 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

A-DATA XPG Gaming Series v2.0 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

I only have 3GB/s on my hard drives but that means i can still hook them up right?
Another question is, anything specific which i should do once i install the ram and CPU for this board and processor? First time using a AMD proccessor

A:Upgraded my computer to ultimate gaming but have questions

First of all, looks like a nice build. 3GB/s is fine for hard drive speed, the hard drive wont effect your in game performance that much anyway. As far as the cpu and ram go, you may have to update the bios on your motherboard to reconize the cpu since the amd 6 cores are still pretty new. If the cpu shows up as unknown in the bios or in windows, a bios update should fix it. Otherwise it should be strait forward.

I guess i just assumed you were goin to reformat the hard drive.

Hi Guys This is my very first post on Windows Vista Forums and Ultimate 64-bit Gaming Windows Vista and Gaming Compatibility I am eager to get into this thread First off Windows Vista Ultimate is the very best you can buy for gaming This features the bit OS version which can process GB of RAM at top speeds you can find in a new OS I would definitely recommend this OS for gaming and none other Now on to the main part of my thread Compatibility Gaming This is the most discussed issue for gamers across the US The problem is how do you get games to work specifically older games on Windows Vista Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit Gaming and Compatibility Gaming Ultimate Well there are solutions You could wait until the company of the game makes a OS patch for the game although that could take a while You could go into the game files and put the game into compatibility mode for your OS And You could revert back to an older OS that works for your game Which one would you choose I would choose They are always going to make games work on a newer OS Lets take the game Lord of The Rings Battle for Middle Earth amp Electronic Arts EA has already made a patch for those two that will have more chance of running on Vista If doesn't work then it's the type of computer hardware you are using The hardware would guarantee be outdated In that case just get more recent hardware It's not that difficult With a bit of research common sense and problem solving skills you can get gaming compatibility issues out of your hair I hope this thread has helped a couple of you out there Sincerely alienware Think I helped you out Click the scales Give me some rep Thanks

You'll waste tons of time thinking about these things...

I'd have a roomy SSD, a WD Caviar black 2TB hdd, a 6850, a Phenom II X6, an antec 902 (or similar, as long as it has fan filters!), 4GB OCZ reapers, and an HT Omega Claro Halo XT. Actually, I'd RAID 1 those WD caviar blacks. I'd get some quite fans and a Kaze master fan controller too.
Also, I'd have a new mousepad, and headset. And a card reader.

So, basically I want a pretty good gaming PC that will allow me to play most games with high detail and all that stuff, rather than playing it on low detail and getting some low frames. Can someone give me some advise to which I can get an amazing PC that will allow me to do this.

A:I want to get the ultimate gaming PC for a good price

All depends on how much you're willing to spend. You'll get the best value by building the PC yourself though.

on a shoestring budget.

I am looking at the nVidia 8300 chipset to build an ultimate gaming machine using SLi tech. Has anyone done this before? I found a motherboard for around $70 and am looking for a cool box. I want to go with liquid cooling systems and plan to shop for the parts I am going to need like a power suppply and video cards. Anyone know where I can get some help? or know of some cool places to shop?
There is a really cool place here in Portland Oregon called "freegeek" I think they have a website too. I buy alot of cheap parts there. neweggcom is okay too.

Hi this is my first post,
I have bought my pc not longer than 1 month
Recently, when I was playing game (Warframe)
I got the BsoD error.
I have updated all the System Specifications on my profile too

Here is the original dump file
Hope someone can help me find out what is the issue causing this error
appreciate for all the helps

A:BSOD while gaming Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bits

The BSOD you have indicates a page fault in a non paged area. The usual causes are defective hardware, normally RAM. Sometimes it is driver related however the driver responsible cannot be identified.

I would strongly recommend running memtest86 to scan for errors.
Follow these instructions on how to run memtest.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

I can play for example leauge of legends . but i cant play dota 2 , grid 2 , bf 4 stuff like that

Anyone knows what to do?

And it goes black screen if i have been playing like 5-7min . It doesn't go instantly.

A:Windows 7 Ultimate black screen while gaming

Do these games work at all or is the black screen after playing for a period of time
I would check temperatures of system and gfx in particular and if they are ok try a gfx test program to see if you have any issues eg Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Check your gfx drivers are up to date also

I just installed Vista Ultimate 64 bit (birthday present)
I boot from it, install it and its a-ok.

I have the latest nvidia drivers for 64 bit vista installed and everything up to date.

Problem is.... Gaming is choppy, a little jittery..

CSS runs smoothly but when I move my mouse around to turn it jitters, it's wierd and difficult to write an explanation. The fps is okay I guess, I'd expect to get more but it's really bothering me that I can't run it smoothly.

I use to run crysis on my xp 32 bit at 50 constant (high settings becuase of dx9)

I now run it at 30 constant with SLI enabled (very high - dx10)
It is also jittery... and very annoying.

Any help would be very nice

A:Building a Gaming Computer Gaming Low budget. Help.

The only thing that's missing is the power supply (the "PSU"), but we should wait until you select a CPU and video card - especially the video card. The PSU is an investment, so we have to make sure it's a good one.

Anyway,

RAM:

Go for a 2 x 4 GB kit or 2 x 8 GB kit. Your only choice right now is DDR3. The cost can vary from roughly $50 USD give or take $10-$20 to almost $200 USD and more.

CPU:

Which i5? 2nd Generation, 3rd Generation, or 4th Generation Core i5? The cost should be at around $200 give or take $10 to $20 USD.

Video card:

Try to avoid being loyal to one side or the other (NVIDIA or AMD) because some AMD GPUs are way better, but some NVIDIA GPUs are better.

The 128bit or 256bit is the bandwidth of the memory. The higher the number, the faster the memory can be in some ways.

The amount of memory you'd want is about 2GB, yeah. The more the merrier, but it mostly benefits textures.

You can go for any video card you want, but the GT 640 might not be an appreciable upgrade from the 410m. You'll notice it, but I dunno...

HDD:

Yeah, this is a little bit of a personal thing because take me for example: I have two 60 GB solid state drives and it's all I need. One is for Windows and programs, and the other is for things like My Documents and even my desktop.

Like the power supply, the hard drive is a bit of an investment, so try to get good ones.

Motherboard:

Not really. I would also like to see you build it instead of making someone do it for you. That way, you can make sure it's done right the first time. You won't need to know how to do anything because you can lean on us.

I also recommend posting this thread over on Overclock.net, but make it clear that you're not overclocking. They are very good at building computers.

I am a naive person when it comes to exactly what computer Desktop I want/need.
I have had some bad luck with everyday type computers
So,
I have been looking at gaming computers for everyday usage.
The Cyberpower Ultra GUA880- AMD FX-4300 Quad Core 3.8GHz, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 1TB HDD, 24X DVD, AMD R7 240 2GB, Windows 10 Home, a well built, long lasting and up grade-able computer for a person who wants the same for everyday usage?
Also, please advise if these types come with everyday software like Internet Explorer, and the "like"?

A:Gaming computer vs regular everyday computer

The desktop comes with a Windows 7 operating system as Internet Explorer is the default browser. These type of desktop usually has low quality power supply and the motherboard may be limited for your personal upgrade preferences. Most people look for customizing and asked for which hardware to purchase and assemble depending on their budget and intended programs to install.

Here is a little task for people to do. What components would you put in to a computer to make it the ultimate computer. I'm talking if money was no object and the computer was to be used for everything -video editing, gaming you name it it'll do it. Include any components or peripherals. You don't have to find a link to the product-just mention it.

i'll start with what is in my opinion the best processor- AMD Athlon 64 FX-53

Hi all, I recently built a new computer a couple weeks ago. I've been having BSODs randomly since I build it and its got me stumped. I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate, fresh install from when the computer was built. I've attached the stuff from the BSOD Dump & System File Collection app. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction and if you need anymore info from me, let me know.

Thanks,
Dustin

A:New computer, Win 7 Ultimate x64 BSODs

Hi,

One driver caught my eye - Rt64win7.sys

This is your networking driver and is blamed for one of your BSODs.

Code:

Rt64win7.sys Mon Mar 22 22:57:14 2010 (4BA73EFA)

However, it appears very much up to date (it is worth looking for an update anyway from your motherboard manufacturers site). Therefore we are probably looking at something else interfering with it as the cause; this could take the form of another driver, or a hardware problem.

You don't have any of the usual 3rd Party firewalls installed that we usually see clashing with networking components.

However - I did notice this driver:

Code:

dacbdalg.sys Fri Feb 02 05:32:34 2007 (45C21622) - Ultima?
This is out of date - I am not entirely sure what software it is associated with, apart from that it is made by a company called Ultima

Update or uninstall it for now.

If BSODs continue after the driver update/removal run Driver Verifier

Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers

Also, run the following hardware tests sometime in the near future

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...t-prime95.html (run the Blend test as well as the Small FFT test)

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Reventon

My current computers are both old, win2k pro/win98 with 733mhz P3. I have been thinking of acquiring a new computer for gaming but don't want to pay too much. My knowledge on computers is pretty much obsolete so I want to ask your opinion about this computer advertized in amazon.com:

iBUYPOWER Gamer Hardcore KO-985 Desktop PC (Intel Quad Core Q9400 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 2x500 GB Hard Drives, Nvidia 9800GTX 512MB, Blu-Ray Drive, Vista Premium)

The price is 1,399 US dollars.

Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, i'm building a new game computer and i would like your help:rolleyes: . I have had some tough decisions in the past but i have finally made my decision. I've looked over this for many hours and i believe i have found a nice low-cost game computer. The following specs are

Antec SmartPower 2.0 500watt ATXv12 Power supply.....70$

ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro Cooling Fan with Heatsink......30$

CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) memory......80$

Amd Athlon 64 3500 Venice 939 processor...........95$

Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard WITH a HIS Hightech H180GTOQT256DVN Radeon X1800GTO 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 CrossFire Ready IceQ3 Turbo Video Card..........................265$ *special combo*

So what do you think? all of this will be around 570$ for shipping and everything. Give me your opinions....thanks!!!:thumb:

A:gaming computer?

You didn't mention a case, hard drive, optical drives or floppy. I suppose you will reuse old ones?

I wonder why they offer such an odd combo deal? While they will work okay, they are mismatched in a sense. I guess you don't intend to go with SLI or Crossfire in the near term.

So it has been years since I have been in the gaming computer scene and my computer has pretty much run its course. Now I am looking at buying/building a completely new gaming computer but things have changed quite a lot. Direct X, crazy graphics cards, and Quad cores oh my. I have no idea what I'm looking at when it comes to gaming computers these days. Back in yesteryear it was about your ram, video card and your processor but now there are tons of other things to consider. Newegg is a place I use to purchase, are they still good? What about the new alienware aurora? Any tips or whatever would be awesome. Thanks, any help would be much appreciated! My price range is around 1,000-1,500.

Thanks,
Robert

A:What computer is better for gaming

There is only enough detail to compare graphics, HDD, and memory. The graphics/HDD are comparable, and clearly the memory in machine one is twice as much. For a gaming machine, you will want at least 8GB memory.

Machine two doesn't list which CPU or PSU. The CPU frequency is all that is listed.

A:help, please: gaming computer Qs

Hi tooter801,I can answer some of your questions, though I'm not familiar with E-machines stuff.Does it hurt the monitor to be set on anything except the highest resolution? Not at all, set it to what you want. CRT monitors could be damaged by trying to set too high a resolution but LCDs just put up an error message, they won't be damaged.Is/are the preinstalled norton and macaffee security systems enough, or should I go ahead and install ad-aware & spybot? No and yes. Preinstalled Norton and MacAfee? What security applications have you got exactly? You should only have one anti-virus program and one firewall operational at any time. Do you have any anti-spyware installed? If not download and update all of the following:Ad-Aware SE from http://www.lavasoft.de/

If you use dial up make sure to connect the phone line via the ports on the UPS so your modem is protected from surges.what graphics card does he need for best results? That I cannot help you with, there are so many variants out there I'm completely out of touch. It depends on the thickness of your wallet. Check the system requirements, for graphics adaptors, on the games he likes to run and look for a graphics card with better specs but still affordable. Drivers are also the key to best performance of graphics cards. Make sure you update Windows, and download the latest Direct X and video card drivers from the Internet.Good luck.

I finally have to the chance to make my first ever computer from scratch I have around My gaming computer!!! first a but if necessary am willing to shell out some more As the thread title states i will be building a gaming computer I My first gaming computer!!! would really appreciate it if someone could help me out with my My first gaming computer!!! decision As a general guideline i was thinking of getting a Intel quad core because i heard the q or something My first gaming computer!!! like that had great performance for its price but i could use some help with the specifics such as the L and L cache which i heard is really important Also i was going for gig DDR ram since vista would require a whole lot of ram on its own already and gig seems to be the new standard At first i was really planning to buy a gt but recently ive been hearing that the ATI is almost the same price and much better Im really awkward about getting ATI because ive just been a fan of NVIDIA i guess and in general i have the mentality that its just better but i would love to hear some comments on that issue I have no idea what kind of motherboard to get but i obviously want one that wont interfere with future upgrading of parts and i also would want it to support at least hard drives although i dont know whether that really has to do with the motherboard or just the SATA or IDE wire The reason i want multiple hard drives is because i already have a kind of old computer with hard drives in there for windows XP I was wondering if i can take the two harddrives and insert them into my new computer and then put a new hard drive in there as well and put vista on that one so in a way i can have both operating systems on it The reason for that would be because i would rather have one computer that has it all instead of separate ones i really could use help with this I would also need a new monitor since the one i currently have is one of those really old ones but i would like someone to help me out with refresh rates on the new flat screen monitors because i heard that they dont have to refresh or something so im really confused now and the Windows Vista now i hate vista but with games coming out these days and having vista only features i dont really have a choice Also im going for a DVD-R and thats really it I know i wrote a lot and i probably wrote too much but im just really excited to finally be able to not lag in my games that GS that i got is really really damaged Thanks for reading nbsp

Hi, Im thinking of getting a "gamming computer". What are some must-haves for a computer to run the newest and most powerful games?

A:Gaming Computer

Get a good processor, I like AMD64, if you have alot of money to spend, get an FX-57. You will also need alot of RAM, go for 1 GB or more, it may cost a bit more, but its definately worth it. And lastly, you need a good video card (or 2 if you have SLI [Scalable Link Interface] technology which allows you to have 2 video cards working in conjunction with one another). Nowadays, I think that you should get nothing lower than 256 MB of video memory to run the latest games. Also, there are the evident aspects of a good power supply, high-capcity and fast (preferably 10,000 RPM) hard drives.

A:Which computer is best for gaming?>>>

I wouldn't actually qualify any of those as decent gaming computers.
2 of them have integrated graphics and the first one has a
9500,which is a low to medium level card.
All of them seem to be using cheap power supplies that were
included with the case.
Plus,it looks like you need to buy windows for all of them.
The 9200 Mhz cpu speed posted on the third one is just
misinformation.
The core speed is not additive and most programs won't
utilize all 4 cores at the same time.
The best bang for the pound would probably be the third one but
you will need to installl a decent power supply and a decent
video card.
Also will need to buy and install whichever version of windows
you would want.

Either the Nvidia 7900GT or ATi X1800XT would be fine for that machine. You could always go a little higher end if you wanted to spend more.

DX10 cards will be out in the fall so you may not want to spend too much on a card right now.

I noticed there's no memory listed. I would go with 2GB of value PC3200 (unless you're going to overclock).

Nice pick for a case.
You may want to increase your memory to 8GB.
I didn't see a listing for a motherboard. Was this left open with the CPU inquiry? Do you prefer AMD or Intel?
You may want to choose a better CPU cooler if you don't want to use the cooler that is normally shipped with the CPU.

im looking to get a gming computer, not like super-gaming, but basic gaming, no over-the-top stuff, say, runing advanced games, like STALKER without lag, but not to expensive, without any extras (extra programs, extra parepheals, firewalls, antivirus, etc.) about how much would it cost?

all im looking for in it is a:

good video card
Semi-good audio card
about 2.0-2.7 GHTZ proccessor
1-2 GB RAM

about how much would that cost me?

thanks for any help.

sorry for being like wanting and giving only specifics.

that pc would require an installation of windows and by the looks of things it does not have a separate graphics card and instead using the graphics sitting next to the cpu, for browser only games it should be fine, it can also handle games such as bastion

So if you could help me out by telling what is a good mobo and some ram that would be greatly appreciated. I would like to keep the price not to expensive. if possible under $120.

A:Gaming computer help

Only for playing WoW you would not require such a powerful CPU. However, if budget is not a constraint I would recommend:

CPU - Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8GHz

Motherboard - ASUS P6X58D-E LGA 1366 Intel X58

GPU - 2x EVGA 768-P3-1362-TR GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) Superclocked

Memory - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600

PSU - CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-1000HX 1000W (Considering you might add a third GPU and will be running all components highly OC'd.)

HDD - OCZ Vertex 2 120GB

Case - Thermaltake ArmorPlus(Armor+) VH6000BWS Black (Ultimately it comes down to personal preference. Picked this as it has 10 PCI ducts for Quad GPU configurations. The HAF 932 / HAF X are other excellent cases.)

Others here should be able to advise you on the choice of liquid cooling systems as I'm still on air cooling for my CPU/GPU.

Sounds good but also check Neweggs prices. And 4 gigs of RAM is too much unless you're going to use a 64bit OS. 32 OS's can only see about 3 gigs because of the way they handle memory addressing.

You should run this application on both PCs:

Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Download - Microsoft Windows

You appear to be misinformed. Windows 32-bit will work fine with 4 GB of memory. It just won't be able to use all of that 4 GB--only about 3.3 GB.

I think those 2 CPUs are quite close to each other in an overall benchmark.

Hello Iceman, Welcome to SF

This fault is probably driver or memory based

I would start by running some basic hardware tests, download and run memtest86+ http://www.carrona.org/memdiag.html to check your ram and i would also run chkdsk and/or HDD diagnostic http://www.carrona.org/hddiag.html from your manufacturers website

Check system file integrity
Start>cmd.exe>right click run as admin>sfc /scannow

Check all drivers are up to date, and update this driver
bios64.sys 08/06/03 its extremely old, probably related to biostar
if you cant update it try removing the program its associated with temporarily till you get this problem sorted

If your OCing stop til this sorted, check ram settings in bios are correct ie voltage/timing/speed

Hope this helps, post back your results

About 5 days ago, my computer started freezing after being up for between 30 to 60 minutes. I have run the Pre Boot System Analyzer suggested by Dell, and all of the hardware components passed the different tests. I have run defrag, disk cleaner, malware, and full scan antivirus software, and yet the computer still freezes. Each time it freezes, I have to push the power button to perform a hard shutdown. I have attached the results from the SF Diagnostic Tool. Can anyone help me with this issue? Thank you!!

Let more on than 1 Activate me Ultimate Windows and it activated perfectly fine However at the time I didn't know that this upgrade was only for computer at a time so about days ago I upgraded my laptop second computer using the same method as my first computer I booted from the upgrade disc selected custom install deleted all the information on my hard drive and proceeded to install After installing it prompted for activation which worked perfectly fine I am now typing this message on my laptop second computer which is has windows activated Windows 7 Ultimate Let me Activate on more than 1 computer? My first computer is still at my university and I am home for spring break so I will not Windows 7 Ultimate Let me Activate on more than 1 computer? be able to use that for a week or so I literally just found out that this upgrade can only work for computer at a time and I heard that Microsoft will actually blacklist my first computer so that it is not Windows 7 Ultimate Let me Activate on more than 1 computer? usable anymore Is this true I am actually freaking out because that computer is my primary workstation and I need windows to be working on it Should I just uninstall windows from this computer and install another operation system Or is it already too late my first computer is already broken Please I need some advice Thanks

A:Windows 7 Ultimate Let me Activate on more than 1 computer?

When you buy software you are actually buying a licence to use the software rather than the software itself.

In your case your licence only covers use on one computer, but it doesn't preclude moving the software to another computer providing you remove it from the old computer first.

However, because you have used a custom install and activated the software on two computers, Microsoft's activation database will more than likely not discover this unless you use both computers at the same time.

As this is highly unlikely due to the distance between both computers you may not get nagged that your software needs activating or that you need to buy another licence.

All I will say is that to comply with Microsoft's EULA (End User Licence Agreement) for the upgrade you purchased you do need a licence for each computer if you are going to use both, which means buying another upgrade.

I am planning to install linux ubuntu V.10.10 on the second drive but I see that during the clean install of win 7 it reserved 100mb on drive 0 and left the rest of that drive unformatted and put everything else on drive 1 which is now the "c" drive. Perhaps I should have left one drive unconnected during install process. Additionally, windows rates my system 5.9 due to hard drive disk performance- are there special settings for WD caviar Black drives w/64meg cache that should operate at 6mb/sec or is that the foreseeable performance rating for those drives? All of the other performance ratings are above 7. Thanks for any help.

A:Win 7 ultimate clean install on new computer w/2 WD 1TB HDD

Hello jasco999, welcome to Seven Forums!

As you say, multi booting Windows and Linux is best done on separate Hard Disk Drives (HDD) have a look at the info below to see the best way to go about it and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

   Information

The easiest way to do away with boot issues between separate Operating Systems (OS) is to use the BIOS one time boot menu to select which OS to boot at system startup, each motherboard has an individual hot-key to tap during system start-up to access this menu.

If you have 2 separate Hard Disk Drives (HDD) and have one OS installed to one HDD and you want to install another OS to the second HDD, disconnect the HDD with the first OS installed on it and leave only the HDD you want to install the second OS to connected.

Just be sure not to change where the original HDD SATA cable was connected, it has to be re-connected to the exact same port to avoid boot issues.

Install the second OS to the connected HDD and when complete and the system is booting good, power down and reconnect the first HDD with the first OS on it.

This way the OSs will boot independently of each other and there will be no boot conflicts between the 2 separate OSs to have to sort later.

Then set the BIOS to boot the HDD / OS you want as default and if you want to start the other (new) OS you use the BIOS one-time boot menu to select that HDD / OS to start when the PC is started.

A:Will my computer run Vista Ultimate SP2 32bit

Hello Calvo, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Yes, the 32-bit Vista will run with those system specs, but it will be a little slower running than XP since it uses more resources than XP did. Be sure you have Vista drivers available for all of your devices first though. I would recommend to go ahead and download them and have them ready to make installing them after installing Vista easier.

If everything checks out and you decide to install Vista, then you can use the items in the link below to help improve the performance of Vista to help some though.

Speed Up the Performance of Vista

Hope this helps,

So recently i have just bought a gaming PC for almost 950$

Specs: i7 3770
GTX 660 2GB
8GB RAM
ASUS Motherboard
Windows 7 32 bit

Anyway any game that I play has run super slow and with low FPS

Games I have tried:

GTAIV
Metro:Last Light
Farcry3

When i start the games, my PC puts the settings to the fullest by default. All drivers have been downloaded and installed prior.

But this is very frustrating and I dont know what to do. I am going to try to install 64 bit but still that shouldn't have to be done ultimately. Someone needed to help me out because i would like to get some entertainment out of almost $1000

Hello everyone i have been playing games on my laptop and its just My first for gaming build computer not good enough at all anymore I have always wanted a nice gaming computer I have recently been trying to learn about it all and build my own gaming computer to save some money I did have a plan that My first computer build for gaming was including the i intel GPU but after learning a little more i am kinda leaning towards AMD x Since i mostly plan to play games on it i read that AMD is good for gaming and it could save me money some use of other things maybe college work but i also got this laptop so mostly strictly gaming maybe So now im confused and starting over trying to think what to combine for good rig I want a rig that can be very fast and handle games with graphics all the way up right now graphics at minimal low and still laggin especially starcraft and to handle furture games like possibly the new mmo blizzard will release My first computer build for gaming in the next years or whatever So with all that said I came across the ASUS Crosshair IV Formula ATX Motherboard MHz Socket AM I thought this would be a good start I was going to use corsair memory but now idk if it will go with ASUS since it says to go with intel junts So idk about that for one and im just getting frustrated trying to study for this lol I am trying to come on with a good build idea so what would be best with this mobo for jaw dropping graphics i want I dont want an expensive rig over is getting way too much but i dont have to buy it all now meaning i could spend close up to at the end of this project maybe i was definetly wanting AMD x and was thinking the AMD - Black Edition Phenom II X Processor T but do i need that could i get another X I was looking at the radeon graphic cards but not sure which one to get Doesnt have to be radeon tho SO if anyone is an expert or any experience could help me out i would greatly appeciate it I am completely new to all this so plz explain anything to me as to why i should get a certain part rather than other parts If i should get a different mobo and AMD or go back to the intel i idea then tell me i dont mind if i can save more money and have the gaming experience i want thats great i could put future money into sound and great monitor and such Or if there is a good gaming computer to just buy that has what i want for the good price THanks for the help and sorry for such a looooong post but i felt i needed to get most of my thoughts down so that you could understand what it is im looking for BTW i do not plan to overclock i don t want to ruin anything i put so much money into and feel i don t need to overclock intil maybe in the distant future and i know more about how to do all that safely Also i was looking at the PSI cyclone case cuz it looked awesome tell me ur ideas on that to and if i should get that or get sumthin more durable nbsp

A:My first computer build for gaming

My first suggestion is that you need a TL; DR.

I read some (IMO) poor choices, and I also happened to notice that you say that you're pretty clueless.
Therefore I went over your plans briskly.

So lets get started, first thing we need to know is a budget, and what that'll include, i.e. will that include a monitor? Mouse? Keyboard? OS? ect...

When ever I play a game, my computer restarts or just blanks out when I'm like 10 minutes in the game. I am running windows xp home edition, 1.4 ghz amd xp, 80gig hd, geforce 4 mx440 64bit ram, 256 ram. Can anyone help?

A:My computer restarts when gaming, help.

Depending on which games you're playing your graphics chip is a little slow and underpowered unless you tutn all details and shadows right down or off, also your drivers may not be helping, if you are using a Nvidia driver version number anything above 46.xx you're not using a driver optimised for the G4 range, whilst Nvidia do wax lyrical about their total support in a unified driver, they are optimised for a 'range' of chips, version 4x.xx detonator for G4\3 and Forceware 5x.xx for the FX range up to 5950 and the more recent 6x.xx for the 6800 etc;

Nvidia's drivers are not always, if ever, the best for your card, the card manufacturer will have drivers posted for your card which will have been optimised by them to gain the best out of your chip, if you visit their site you will notice the last and probably marked 'final' driver for you is one about version number 46.60 or similar.

Also and finally there is the possibilty of overheating or faulty RAM (mainboard), try running with the case open to see if it makes any difference and turn all the eye candy off, dont go above 800x600 res and if none of that makes any difference try swapping your RAM, you could seriously do with doubling that for gaming at the very least.

My computer has been shutting down for a little while now when playing games I was fixing this problem lazily by opening up the side of my computer and running a box fan in down gaming shuts Computer when with msi afterburner open and cranking the fans somewhat hard What was weird to me is that my gpu wasn't getting overly hot the hottest Computer shuts down when gaming I saw it was c My computer was very very dusty and I was planning on taking the whole thing apart and doing a thorough dusting of it for awhile and I finally did that a couple days ago when it Computer shuts down when gaming crashed right away It's free of dust now and was working well with my gpu staying in the mid 's with no Computer shuts down when gaming extra fan running on it It just crashed after a couple days of it working fine with no dust and now I don't know what to do I just ran a check on my ram and that came back with no problems Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be

Wait until the system crashes again, then recovery and let's try looking at these 2 sets of reports:1)  Please run this report collecting tool (even though you may not be reporting BSOD's) so we can provide a complete analysis:  http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location.By default it'll be a .zip file located on your DesktopSimply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there. If it doesn't work for you, then please try this:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/2)  Please do the following:- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")- right click on the "Administrative Events" heading- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."- save the file as Admin.evtx- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

I'm currently trying to get together parts for my new gaming PC rig that I'm planning on building soon. Anyways, I need some help in finding a good motherboard. Basically, I'm looking for a motherboard that will be able to be upgradeable i.e. CPU

Anyways, someone showed me an ideal motherboard that could work, but I'm relatively a newbie when it comes to knowing about rather or not certain motherboards can be upgraded down the line as technology continues to go on.

This is the current one I'm looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...-_-Motherboards+-+Intel-_-GIGABYTE-_-13128331

A:Computer Crashing While Gaming

Do you have to reboot to get back to seeing input on your monitor?
When you get the shutdown does your power light stay on and fans keep activating?
Does it happen in say a group of 3-4 incidents then run for a good length of time before it happens again?

If yes I am experiencing similar on XP and on the advice of others also I am looking at a Power Supply issue...

A:New gaming computer -- need feedback!

I'd consider the following if it was me with that budget:

CPU = Intel i5-760 2.8GHz 8MB L3 Cache, Quad core @ $209.99

Motherboard = Gigabyte GA-H55-USB3 ATX $109.99
CPU cooler = Coolermaster V8 RR-UV8-XBU1 $59.99
Video option 1 = HIS HD6850 1GB GDDR5 $159.99
Video option 2 = HIS HD6870 1GB GDDR5 $199.99
Hard Disk = Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB (fastest mechanical 7200rpm hard disk available) $49.99
DVD Burner = Lets go Blueray + DVDRW Lite-On iHES208-08 $59.99
Memory = Corsair XMS3 8GB kit (4x 2GB) $89.99
PSU = OCZ ModExtreme Pro 600W PSU $54.99

Total $843 ish (for option 2 graphics, $40 less for option 1) plus shipping, and the cost of a case. Some prices are the price after a rebate.

I'd recommend this case = Coolermaster HAF912 $59.99 but its a personal option - Just remember to get something with good front, side (or top) and rear cooling. You might want to check out our Reviews section for ideas on good cases, and the reviews we did on the graphics cards as well.

The motherboard I chose is my preferred brand, and assumes you won't be considering multiple graphics cards. Also, you need a good branded PSU to power a recent graphics card - You didn't include one in your original post, but I've added a OCZ 600w one. 550W or above from the likes of OCZ, Antec, Coolermaster, Corsair (my preferred but use and like the OCZ I chose too) and others. If its cheap, it won't be reliable enough.

If you want to power 2 of those graphics cards (eventually) then you need a minimum of 650W, though 700W+ is preferred. You'll also need a different motherboard if thats your plans as well.

The Coolermaster V8 in a good case should provide good headroom to overclock the CPU as well.

With the reduced cost in RAM currently, it also makes sense to purchase 8GB kits, rather than the usual 4GB. Since you intend on gaming, I would recommend you purchase 8GB, as it provides for additional headroom with RAM.

Also, both the graphics options will play most games at full HD resolution, with high settings. The HD6870 is currently the best midrange GPU available, and highly recommended if you intend to play at full HD (1920x1080 pixel) resolutions and high settings.

A:Is this a good PC gaming computer?

Just built a gaming system using the same CoolerMaster HAF-932. What a great case to work with and in!

If you can wait, Intel is about to release their newest cpu offerings "Sandy Bridge." Then make your choice and you may get some the parts you list a little less expensive. But, yes, that system you're putting together is very powerful.

However, have you considered the Radeon latest offerings?

Heya,

I have a budget of $2500 tops, and i am looking for a great gaming computer to be used for mostly MMORPG games such as World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online (When it comes out) and other games that need decent computers. With the cash Im spending, i will need a computer that can be upgraded in the future.

I know practically nothing about computers , so i need some assistance as to either Computers that are within that budget, or suggestions as to which specs the computer should have. I won't be building a computer because as i said before, i have no knowledge in that area.

Cheers for any comments

look for a machine with and AMD Phenom 64 processor, 2gigz of ram (upgadeable if you wish) and buy a nice video card (BFG 8800GTX or better. SLI is optional)

things like harddrive and DVD drives are personal preference. go google search Keen Machine PC's.

They do a wonderful job combining power, looks, and a great price on their gaming machines.

The only real problem I see is the motherboard and processor aren't compatible.

You didn't include any information on a case or power supply. Are they included in the price? You should also include at least one optical drive such as a DVD burner.

A:New gaming computer now very slow

Ever since the past few weeks my PC has ran progressively more slow.My video card doesn't perform well it seems, I used to average 250-300 fps on World of Warcraft and I know average 30-60 and with Counter Strike: Source I used to average 300fps I know average 70 but can still get around 130 max.My mouse clicker is faulty and requires more pressure when dragging and it always unclicks (I know it's the hardware because it was the same in Linux) anyways I've thought of how this could possibly tie in? But when I unplug the mouse nothing is sped up.I've tried defragging.Scanning with kaspersky, spybot, ad aware. As of last scan nothing was found. Before that there was but I removed everything.I've even removed Linux Mint which I thought may have been causing it.Did one of my GPUs die or something? Which raises another question, how many GPUs does the gtx295 have? I thought just one Please take a look at my logfileSPECS Operating System System Model Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) (build 7600)Install Language: English (United States)System Locale: English (United States) Enclosure Type: Desktop Processor a Main Circuit Board b 3.75 gigahertz Intel Core i7 87032 kilobyte primary memory cache1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache8192 kilobyte tertiary memory cache64-bit readyMulti-core (4 total)Hyper-threaded (8 total) Board: P55-GD80 (MS-7581) 1.0Bus Clock: 133 megahertzBIOS: American Megatrends Inc.
