{Resolved} - NT boot error - "Load Error! Press any key to reboot..." - help ASAP

Q: {Resolved} - NT boot error - "Load Error! Press any key to reboot..." - help ASAP

I am trying to load NT on a computer. It worked fine. Added SP6 and rebooted fine. Added sound card driver, vid. drivers, and network card drivers. Rebooted and I get this error. It then goes and tries to boot from CDROM and then says press N to boot from network. It then says "Boot failure Insert boot disk in A: press any key when ready" Of course, I didn't make a repair disk either. I am on location and need a fix ASAP. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Preferred Solution: {Resolved} - NT boot error - "Load Error! Press any key to reboot..." - help ASAP

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

I need help with this Diskette issue please. "Diskette Drive 0 Seek Failure"
I've had this problem a few times in a couple of years and I have been able to fix the error by pressing F2 and going to the SETUP. And I've done this with no issues. But this time I thought I fixed it but now I get this new error: "A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". After I press Ctrl+Alt+Del it takes me back to the same error massage "A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". Need help please. This is a Dell Desktop, Windows XP.
Thank you.

I tried formatting my hard drive using the provided software from the company I bought the computer from, but it did not install correctly. Now there is no Windows or any files of Windows showing up on my hard drive whatsoever.

Whenever I pop in the Windows CD to try and repair or re-install, I get an error that states "Disk Boot Sector is to be modified! Press Y to continue, any key to abort" and once I do, it seems like the Windows options are about to come up, but then it just shuts down my computer. Any thoughts or possible fixes? I'm not sure of the correct location for this thread so I put it here. Thanks in advance!

A:ERROR: "Disk Boot Sector is to be modified! Press Y to continue" then crash?

I'd try a bootable hard drive diagnostic that's available from the support website of the manufacturer of your hard drive. That'll let you know if the hard drive is failing and we can move on from there.

Wow So I did some work on this machine not too long ago It had basically lost one hard drive in a raid setup during a power surge and this poor fellow lost all his data I tried to talk him into upgrading to a third drive for future situations like this but now not even two weeks later when he boots we get to a screen that says a disk read error occurred press ctrl alt del to restart A browse through these wonderful forums is telling me that his hard drive or at least the partition on of the drives is toast which would be disastrous at this point So I am truly hoping for another solution Yes the machine is running Raid When I boot the machine I get to the intel boot agent screen with the option to enter the setup menu this is not the bios just a boot agent something or other where you can tell the machine to boot according to the bios ect Following that the screen goes blank the super micro graphic screen comes up just briefly and then bam this good old message appears so there does not even appear to be a way to get into the bios I am desreate for advice If I must resinstall windows then so be it but we are talking thousands of dollars worth of data that would be lost Please please help nbsp

Try hitting del continuously when booting to see if you can get into the bios, then see what drives in the raid array are recognized.

Hi there!

One of our CPUs and monitor gave up most of the ghost. I monitor is hosed, I tested so that is no biggie... But the CPU says that the CPU fan is not running, press F2 to continue boot or it will shut down in 5 seconds.
If I press F2, it boots fine. I have a new HD in the CPU because my boss REALLY needed his computer and I had a spare. So he is set, but I am still dealing with his old one. I have checked the fans on the PS and the MB. BOTH are working. So am I missing something? It is a HP pc 864n Media center.

Thanks!

A:Error message "CPU Fan is not working" On boot. Press F2 to boot...

It could be that the CPU fan is connected directly to the PSU rather then on the CPU_FAN connector on the motherboard &/or the CPU fan is spinning at such a low RPM level that the motherboard cannot detect it.

If the CPU fan is spinning & the temps are decent, then you shouldn't worry.

Hello All,

My recently-purchased C50-B-13N laptop was installing 39 updates yesterday, when it crashed.

Re-starting trapped me into a continual loop. Following what appeared to be the logical approach to reset the factory settings, I
appear to have accidentally deleted the data on the drive.

I now repeatedly received the error message "Reboot and select proper boot device".

I've tried the F12 approach to <HDD recovery>, but my Boot Menu doesn't state this option.

I'm frustrated that the new laptop was performing so poorly, given I've had Toshiba devices for ~10 years.
Additionally, I'm disappointed that the potentially serious implications of deleting the drive <even accidentally> were not clearly advised to me, before commencing.

Please advise a solution.
The laptop is 4 months old.

Furthermore, how do I begin the process of claiming under my warranty?
An unhappy customer experience, thus far.

Regards,

DG.

A:Satellite C50-B-13N - Error "Reboot and select proper boot device"

Obviously the HDD recovery procedure isn’t possible now because the HDD recovery files have been deleted.

I guess you did not create a recovery medium as recommended in the user manual.

Well, in such case you have one chance to order a missing recovery medium and to recover the notebook back to factory state.

Recovery medium can be ordered here:

A:Error: "Please reboot and select proper boot media" on new build

Did you try running "fixmbr" or "fixboot" from the repair console? Here's a M$ support page on that: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392

Are you saying that updating from Windows Update trashed the install?

Or, the BIOS in most new boards comes set to run as IDE. Have you tried setting the HDD to "AHCH". (I think that would be called directly, "SATA" in an AMD based board).

Plan "B" always involves trying to boot from a Linux CD to attempt to access and copy your data files, before a drastic measure like zeroing out the drive

Hello, Ive recently been getting this message and I cant seem to solve it.
I read a few topics and solutions, but I can't seem to grasp it. I am rather greatly unfamiliar with pc tech know how.
I tried putting the OS disk and restart, but I get the same error, and I dont know how to reinstall the OS. I can manage to get to the BIOS, if thats what its called, but Im not sure what to do from there. I tried setting priority to CD Rom but still, same error.

Im considering visiting the tech shop that built me the PC but if I can fix this at home I would give it a shot.

Im running Windows 7 Home premium 64bit.

Hi guys A short while ago I posted about my GB WD HDD that was giving me a Bootmgr is Missing error Well I don't get that error now after using KillDisk to wipe the drive clean but after reinstalling Windows and Sometimes - Just "Reboot Proper Boot and Device," Select etc. Error all my programs today I got the infamous quot Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device quot error I've actually gone through the Windows reinstallation process three or four times in as many days to try and rid myself of the error but it appears I'd say on two out of every ten restarts only on this GB drive and it isn't "Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device," etc. Error - Just Sometimes permanent If I do a control alt delete Windows starts normally I don't know if this means anything but sometimes before the error message I see quot Matrix Storage Manager quot appearing and disappearing quickly Startup repair using a Windows repair disc says no problems could be detected and my installation of Windows is listed I have checked for loose cables No problems I have run chkdsk and the WD diagnostics tool long method It passes My HDD is set "Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device," etc. Error - Just Sometimes as the first boot device and the DVD-RAM is second When I restarted the PC I noticed on the HP splash screen that it said to press F for diagnostics I did that As you'll see it came back with a BIOHD- error no drives detected The DVD-RAM and HDD work other than the error message and are detected in the BIOS so this sure is puzzling After this I powered down the PC opened it up checked the cables and then removed the GB drive and reinstalled my TB drive powered the PC up and ran the test again It passed Based on this can I assume that the GB drive is close to failing It just seems odd why all the other diagnostics say it is fine and the HP diagnostics give the error

A:"Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device," etc. Error - Just Sometimes

Check in BIOS setup to see if HD is detected. What is the SATA controller setting? Is there more than one storage controller?

Test your HD using maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, followed by Disk Check run from the installer's Command Line in System Recovery Options.

If necessary format a full disk partition marked Active to try install and do the DIsk Check, using Step 2.2 here: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

I have a Toshiba Satellite M50D-A-10W that went all "reboot and select proper boot device" nuts on me.

This occurred before and it was solved by alt-ctr-del then F12 to enter BIOS where the date had gone back to sometime in 2010 - after bringing it up to the present and changing the boot device, everything worked fine ... until the next day.

Now I get the "reboot and select proper boot device" screen, but the F12 key doesn't work; I also tried F2 ... the message keeps multiplying, no BIOS ...
Please, help!

A:Satellite M50D-A-10W - "reboot and select proper boot device" error

In some cases the BIOS can be only accessed by pressing the force shutdown button on the bottom side of the unit.

Info:

After you were able to boot up the windows system, its strongly recommended to update the BIOS as the BIOS update would solve this annoying issue.

I had a fresh install of 7 and everything was working fine.
All of a sudden it starts randomly freezing and programs start responding.
I got KERNAL_PAGING_ERROR BSODs etc. and got a new disk, thinking it was that.
After cloning the new disk which didn't work, and produced loads of errors on chkdsk, I decided to do a clean install of 7.

I still keep getting "Disk boot error, insert system disk and press enter", and when it does boot, it freezes all the time and every time I click the start button, it basically crashed and is messed up.

Tried new SATA cable and ports. Any ideas?

A:Everything fine then FDC Error press F1" and no system boot ?

Googling the error, it would appear the "FDC" stands for Floppy Disk Controller.

You might try removing the Floppy Disk drive and see if it still occurs.

Also reload the BIOS (setup) defaults or even remove and replace the CMOS battery or hard reset the CMOS using the jumpers.

If all fails, I would presume the motherboard hardware is shot.

I recently ran the manufacturer's Restore Disks on a 5 year old WinXP desktop then updated to WinXP SP3 and reinstalled the same programs I had been running other than a switch from AVG antivirus to Avast. On reboot, I now sometimes, not always, receive this error "Load Error. Press a key to reboot". Pressing a key only regenerates the message. This occurs on the 4th boot screen which is the one which normally shows Windows starting. The first screen is mem check. The 2nd screen is black with various messages as usual. The 3rd screen is the Norton Goback screen. The 4th is where Windows normally starts but that is where the error message comes up. I am able to use GoBack to restore to an earlier point and get the machine running. It will then sometimes reboot normally, sometimes not. I will appreciate any and all help. Thank you.

A:Load Error. Press a key to reboot

Well as your reinstalling all these programs fresh they'll all want to update and while updating to SP3 may have caused the load error its probly caused by some new updates not getting along with others try restoring the computer and add the programs 1 by 1 and when u get problems youll know whats caasing them. You may need to keep older versions of some programs.

Hi from not so sunny England...

I have an Acer Travelmate notebook with XP Tablet edition that has worked o.k for just short of a year (bought Nov 24th 2004) and recently has started throwing up the above named error message on startup.

I have done some research and one article I found blames Norton GoBack (which I am running) for this error and another one says it is a hard drive problem.

I have been able to use GoBack to retrieve my data, but I now have to restore the drive to a previous point every single time I start it up.

I have tried to recover the HD to factory defaults using the System Disks and it seems to work ok for a short while. But when I start to reload other software, the same problem recurs.

I will be grateful for any advice or assistance anyone can offer...

Thanks

Two days ago, I was in the process of verifying Windows 7 (because I got the "windows 7 is not genuine" message) and then when I restarted as I was asked, that message came up and I haven't been able to get into the computer since.

I have tried booting directly from a Windows 7 disk, and the computer skips past it and returns to the message. I've tried putting a recovery .iso on a flashdrive and booting from that, and still, nothing. It will not boot from anything whatsoever, no matter what I put first, disable, enable, etc in the setup thing.

I have no idea what to do at this point, because I can't get into the computer for the life of me, and I can't lose the files I have on there. Not again. This computer was a gift from my grandparents, and not even three months later, I've somehow effed it up.

Please, if you could offer any advice or solutions to this, it'd be greatly appreciated. If there's any buttons I can press to manually start from the CD or flashdrive, that'd be helpful, too, considering it refuses to follow the boot sequence I've set up (CD/DVD > USB Flashdrive > Internal HDD... I previously only had CD/DVD on, and then I switched it to USB Flashdrive, and later Internal HDD, and neither one works).

Dell Latitude D530
Windows 7 Ultimate x32

I can't tell you any more than that, I'm sorry.

EDIT: I forgot to mention. Pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL as it tells me to, does nothing but restart and bring me right back to the same message, over and over again.

Hi Vyce,

Welcome to Seven forums.

Can you please post a screenshot or picture of the error message showing on the system. It could be an issue with the motherboard on the system.

You should try CMOS reset on system and check if it helps:

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

You may have to Format your hrd drive and clear off the old installation of windows first.

You cant get to the area of installation that would allow you to do that. See if you can download from the hard drive manufacturer, who-ever that may be, thier hard disc maintenance tools. Such as Seatools for Seagate, or MaxBlast for Maxtor. Creating a bootable disc of which ever one youneed to use you should be able to partition and refomat the hard drive as these will boot with out attempting to boot from your hard drive. Also you can run a HDD test from the same disc telling you if you have a gone bad hard drive.

A:"A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart."

Using another system - one that that one cannot touch (no offense), download Killdisk and use ImgBurn to burn the CD-R or DVD-R ISO (or other - I always use -R).

Then boot your system up with KillDisk and you'll see the menu - 1 of the options (apologies, don't recall which off hand) will allow you to view partitions to see what's on them.

If you can boot from that, then use non-MS OS (Linux ?) to copy files out. I am unfamiliar with Linux and procedures, but I will be glad to request help if you can view the drive with KillDisk and find files you wish to try & save.

That was some "bickering thread", BTW - I guess some need HUGE fonts like that either to emphasize their point (like some YELLING) - or maybe they lost their glasses!

One thing I can tell you - the error message that you are receiving is IMHO purely related to the DVD/CD drive - CTRL-ALT-DELETE will not re-boot the hard drive. It is from the days of DOS and floppy drives. You are probably receiving that message b/c the system cannot find what it needs on the hard drive to boot - i.e., it is not recognizing it a MS Windows installation. It also could be the media - the DVD/ CD.

KillDisk - http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm

Make bootable KillDisk ISO CD w/ ImgBurn -
ImgBurn - http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

For info - KillDisk WILL NOT automatically start deleting files when you boot with it - you'll see the menu.

Regards. . .

.

p.s. thanks for the link to the "bickering thread" - I haven't seen anything like that in a while!

Do you have backups? First thing I would suspect is the hard drive is dying, or at the very least, some important boot sector info is going bad. Try a utility boot disk of any variety like Parted Magic Live CD or make a UBCD4Win CD if you have access to a windows XP disc or image, or use a Linux LiveCD, to see if you can get access to the contents of the drive if need be. Or alternately, pull the drive and attach it as a secondary data drive to another system and see if its readable.

Based on the results of your attempts at access, further advice can be given as to what to do about the drive if that indeed turns out to be the problem.

Hello I encountered a problem and found a solution and just wanted to put it on the internet for posterity So I have a Samsung SSD EVO I'm actually running Vista Ultimate but ran across a relevant thread about this seemingly hardware issue here so SSD "A Samsung read - ctl del Press occured disk error alt - SOLVED" I started Samsung SSD - "A disk read error occured Press ctl alt del - SOLVED" with a fresh OS install on my new SSD everything updated and working normally I was formatting a seperate HDD using disk manager The computer was frozen or maybe not and I was impatient and wanted to do something else so I casually pressed the quot reset quot button When the computer reboots I get the quot A disk read error occured Press ctl alt del to restart quot message Pressing ctl alt del just reboots computer and the same screen comes up again Samsung SSD - "A disk read error occured Press ctl alt del - SOLVED" I run the Vista repair utility on the install disk - no help Importantly however the repair utility saw the Vista installation just fine and after I ran it repeatedly it told me there were no errors I tried doing a system restore which it says ran successfully but that did nothing to solve this problem I mess with bios settings change disk settings from RAID when I installed it was with an older raid drive in same SATA ports to IDE to ACHI - no help So before trying a fresh Vista install on the SSD out of desperation before deciding SSD had gone bad I decided to install vista on a different HD in a dual boot configuration with the intent to then attempt to view my SSD from within the second Vista installation and see if there were some settings to mess with in disk manager to get the SSD to boot up properly The solution was simpler - when I first installed the second copy of Vista on a different HD it setup a dual boot configuation From the dual boot menu if I selected the second Vista install listed - BAM - it loads up my SSD Vista just fine just as I left it I then used an elevated CMD prompt from within the Vista installation on my SSD to run bcdedit to undo the dual boot configuation since I didn't want a second version of Vista I want my SSD to be the OS drive Now the SSD boots back up fine on its own For whatever reason beyond my ability to explain the SSD's quot boot up quot files got corrupted but installing a second version of the OS on another HD in a dual boot configuation fixed it The dual boot setup process must have rewritten the boot up files on my SSD I will answer questions if anyone confronts this same problem but having googled around and seeing no definitive answer perhaps this is what is confounding others Good luck all

Did you run the RebuildBCD command including exporting the BCD to create a new one, from Step 5 of Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start? That tutorial contains everything known to start the OS.

Rescue installs are interesting because of the access you get to the stranded OS and how in many cases they will configure a Dual Boot or allow you to do so with EasyBCD. Once you had your dual boot, what commands did you run exactly to remove the rescue install from it? It is likely the rescue install restored your SSD install's boot and if it was able configure a Dual Boot then I'd think RebuildBCD could have done the same.

The only reason we don't use it more as a troubleshooting method here is because it's a gambit that only sometimes works and since one has to reinstall the OS anyway, why not focus on doing a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7 that 95% of users don't have anyway?

Dell Dimension E520. This is obviously a hardware problem as this error comes up as soon as the POST hands off to the hard disk.

On a cold boot, I get "Disk Read Error, Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart your computer". Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del restarts the system and it always starts up and runs without incident after this point. Performance and everytng else is plenty acceptable and error free.

I have run Seatools on the Seagate hard disk and it passes all tests.

What is causing this error?

How can it be prevented?

The E5xx series has had numerous BIOS updates to fix things. Go here( http://support.dell.com/support/top...t_central?~ck=ln&c=us&cs=04&l=en&lnki=0&s=bsd ) type in your service tag number and add it to your favorites. In Downloads, see if there is a newer BIOS.

Any suggestions on how to fix this.

It sounds like the HDD is failing. Restart with a Windows disc again and do a Full Format, not a Quick Format. The full format will identify any bad sectors and mark them as such and not copy data to them. If there are too many bad sectors, then it will not format. You will need to buy a new HDD.

First get the data you need off it.

Then go to the mfr and get their HD testing utility and run it.

If it were me I wouldnt trust it. I have been burned before.

You certainly could use it for storage of, say one set of backups, for the chances of losing your OS HD, and that backup at the same time are nil.

Hello
I have a Toshiba windows Xp professional 2001 Laptop

Before I got this error my computer was doing a shut down update. I forgot to plug the charger before I left to work and the screen said "please do not unplug or shut off computer" so I'm guessing my computer died before it could finish updating. I went home turned it on and got "a disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart" restarted it and just keeps looping to that screen.

Spent hours searching the internet for a solution and nothing. So the only answer I could think of is factory reset it. Is there another way? Will it work? Please help

Thanks in advance

If you have a Windows XP CD you can boot off of the that and get to the Recovery Console. Here type chkdsk /R and press enter this will try to repair any problems.
If you don't have an XP CD, you can download the ISO image for the Recovery Console: DOWNLOAD: Windows Recovery Console Burn the image to CD using IMGBurn in my signature. Boot off of the newly created CD in the troubled computer, and follow the above instructions.

Have you tried changing the boot sequence inside the BIOS?

Normally pressing F2 or F12 on the computer will solve this.

Depends on exactly what has happened with the drive. In any case, it can't hurt to try the software and see if it works.

Yesterday, I recieved a new 80GB HDD (Hard Disk Drive) for my Dell Optiplex GX280 SD. As soon as I recieved it I shutdown my computer and replaced my 40GB HDD with it; however, once I turned on my PC I got a black screen with a message that said: "Disk Error Press any key to restart". Everytime I hit Eneter (or any other button) I get the same message right underneath it. In order to restart my computer I have to press Ctrl/Alt/Delete.

Why am I getting this message? Is the Hard Drive damaged? Should I return it? Or am I doing something wrong? I tried to install a clean version of Windows XP but can't because my computer doesn't boot up.

Any suggestions?

A:"Disk Error Press any key to restart"

Have you made sure that the computer is not trying to boot off the hard drive?
Check in the BIOS to make sure its set to booting off the CD.

I'm assuming that you haven't managed to install XP on it however, as it will be a blank disk and have nothing to read.

Hope this helps

I am currently unable to start one of my desktop machines.

Although a working keyboard is connected, the error message "Keyboard Error. Press F1 to resume" is displayed on startup. Pressing F1 starts the XP Pro splash screen but startup does not complete- it simply returns to the error message. I have tried starting in safe mode but same story.

This error occurs even when starting with no keyboard connected.

Background info - old machine - AMD Athlon 600MhZ, 192MB. No recent changes to hardware build. Recently this same machine has been displaying the message "ATAPI Incompatable; Press F1 to Resume" on startup- in which case pressing F1 solved problem.

Do you think my hardware is failing? Any suggestions please???

A:"Keyboard Error: Press F1 to resume"

Keyboard controller on the motherboard could be defective. If it is defective you meed a new motherboard. Can you access the BIOS once the keyboard is plugged in?

Do you have a recovery restore install disc or partition?
You can try doing a repair or system file check...
Scan For Missing/Corrupt System Files...

Windows XP comes with a wonderful tool called System File Checker (SFC)
Itscans and verifies the versions of all protected system files after you restart your computer...
To Do This:
Click Start menu, and then click the Run icon.
In the small box that Opens, type the three letters: cmd then click the OK button.
In the command prompt window that just opened (a black background and white text), type the following command:
SFC /scannow
And then click OK
You must be logged on as a member of the Administrators group to run SFC..
You will need your Windows XP CD during this procedure if SFC needs to get an original file. Please remember that Windows XP can have multiple instances of a .DLL file and remember which version is for which program.
Notes....
I have been asked if it is possible to have a "progress meter" show when SFC runs... This is the registry hack you need. PLEASE do not go messing with your registry if you do NOT know what you are doing!
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
Value Name: SFCShowProgress
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)

A:Reboot and Select proper Boot device" Error

Is the hard drive partitioned, formatted, and does it have an operating system installed on it? If not, then it's not gonna boot from it.

CD drive not being seen in BIOS:
- bad CD drive
- bad cable
- bad power connector
- bad power connector connection
- bad connection to motherboard
- bad plug on motherboard
- bad controller on motherboard

Try new cables and different ports (gray, blue, and navy blue) on the motherboard
Try different power connectors
If all of those don't work, then the problem is most likely with the CD drive (and it's the cheapest thing to replace and find out)

I just upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Win7 professional x64 hoping to fix the above mentioned problem. After a complete re-install Im getting the same errors.

Im not sure of the proper terminology here, but during startup the computer does a scan of all hardware and "Volume 0" has a "failed" message.

The odd thing is that sometimes after a few restarts and pointless boot menu visits the computer starts up fine.

I tried windows repair feature by booting from the disk, but when I get to the window where i select the operating system to repair, its empty. Drive C, where the operating system is, is not showing.

I have a feeling that the hard drive itself has gone bad and is very unstable. Please let me know if I'm missing something or we just need to get a new HD.

Thank you

A:Win7 pro startup error "Boot MGR missing"/"Operating System Not Found

What type of hdd do you have. For example if you have a Seagate drive, there is software you can run to do a diagonostic on the hdd before the operating system boots.
This would be a good idea, especially if you were having same issues when Vista Home Premium was installed first.

Do you have more than one hdd installed. If yes, make sure in BIOS settings, the proper drive is selected for First Boot. And better yet make sure its the only drive attached when booting.

You do need to do a full antivirus scan. Most likely you will find you have the w95.Spaces virus probably among others.

Were these the online sites you tried?

Did a little more digging, there appears to be a downloadable cleaner for it available here:

http://de.bitdefender.com/html/free_tools.php

I do not know how the exe version works, but do NOT download it on the infected computer. Instead download it to an uninfected one. Right click on the exe and set the properties attributes to "ReadOnly". Then copy it to a floppy, write protect the foppy afterwards (little slide tab in the bottom corner) and run it from the floppy or copy to the infected computer and run off the hard drive. The file must be readonly or it will become infected itself.

Do NOT use any floppy disks which have been used unprotected on the infected computer on any uninfected ones.

I have another from Sophos that I can e-mail you in zip form if necesary, but you will have to PM me with your e-mail address.

I have restarted several times and it does not get past this point.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Thank you

A:What does "Error Recovery Image Missing" and can this be resolved?

Sounds like the USB Recovery Image is not being recognized or the files you installed to the USB drive are missing or damaged.

Can you start the netbook?

Start>All Programs>Recovery Backup.
If all else fails - a USB Dvd drive can be used to install Xp - if you have the install Cd.

"I get a popping noise every time I bend. Do you know what that is?". At least in the title you mentioned that you were human. No mention of what you were bending, in which way you were bending, whether you know if you are double jointed, etc...
So... let us fill in some gaps:

1) What program are you trying to run?
2) When do you get the error?
3) If the program used to run correctly, what have you added since then?
4) Have you changed any settings, or installed any programs/updates since it was working properly?
5) What is the title of the error box?
6) What is the exact text of the error?

Cheers

A:Opening certain folders causes an error that forces "My Computer" to reboot.....

Hello ronok,

I'm not seeing anything in this log. We'll run a few tools and see if anything is revealed.

Please copy this page to Notepad and save to your desktop for reference as you will not have any browsers open while you are carrying out these instructions.

*********************************************************************

First download ewido anti-spyware from HERE and save that file to your desktop.
This is a 30 day trial of the programOnce you have downloaded ewido anti-spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
Once the setup is complete you will need run ewido and update the definition files.
On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
Under "Reports"Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
Un-Select "Only if threats were found"

Close ewido anti-spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

Download and install CleanUp! but do not run it yet. (Not Recommended for XP64).

------------------------------------------------

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Use the up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode and press Enter.
5) Login with your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers.

------------------------------------------------

*WARNING* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp! or move them to a permanent location.

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
*Put a check next to the following:Empty Recycle Bins
Delete Cookies
Delete Prefetch files
Cleanup! All Users
Click on the "Temporary Files" and uncheck the box for "Scan drives for file matching" if it's checked.
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Do NOT reboot/logoff when prompted.

------------------------------------------------

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while ewido is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:Lauch ewido-anti-spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
Once the scan is complete do the following:
If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"
Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
Close ewido and reboot your system back into Normal Mode and post the results of the ewido report scan.

Ewido is compatible with most AV and anti-spyware products, and the free version will continue to be useful as a second anti-malware scanner.

Reboot into Normal Mode.

A:[resolved] "nvstartup error" at start up.

That file is an NVidea driver. If you do not have an NVidea graphics card then this may be a hijack, but first try deleting the file C:\Windows\System32\NvCpl.dll and re-installing your graphics drivers. This may repair the driver file.

Partition shared on same drive as D What I did Booted into XP loaded Acronis Disk Director Suite Resized D shrunk by GB and Resized v increased by GB Applied actions Had a PC lock-up in XP some time later reset PC Boot error - no Windows Vista found load original disc Loaded Vista disc and used quot r quot option Located vista partition repaired Vista Booted had rundll exe error or something similar and died Re-booted hit F and selected quot last known good config quot Vista ran lengthy disc check Noticed Vista volume was now H not V Re-Booted- Vista loaded to login Keyed password and quot preparing desktop quot appeared My desktop and startup programs fail to boot and I get stuck in a plain blue empty screen with cursor only CTR-ALT-DEL accesses Task Manager or log-off shutdown screen but I have an incomplete load of vista and no profile I have re-checked the Vista Drive in XP and it is all there profile data opsys etc However when I boot back to command prompt in Vista - V has become H as mentioned No wonder my profile desktop start-up and Vista doesn t kick-in properly Anyone know the safest way to fix this I reckon that if I somehow change the volume letter from H to V within the Vista boot everything will quot reload quot normally Acronis is installed under XP boot and I have a BART PE boot disc the Vista boot Disc and a GNOME Part ED image I can burn also Any ideas Thanks in advance Striderlps nbsp

Hi,
after still not having the Screen freeze and a Sound-loop problem fixed, I'm getting a error message on my windows startup.
THIS is the error message. Sometimes the error message appears once, or twice. I'm starting to see this message since yesterday. Is there anything to fix this? And what's its cause?
HERE are my specs if anyone needs them. Ask if you need some more info :3

Thanks.

Went into the W7 control panel to make a 'system repair disk' (boot disk), just in case I ever needed it. Making the disk went OK, with W7 telling me it had successfully finished, and to label the CD.

I then put the boot CD into my DVD drive to make sure it worked OK. Computer boots from the CD and W7 says it has started loading files. Then the pretty blue background screen started (just like the one in the F8 repair console), and then there was a long pause and then I get the error code shown on the photo below. Clicking OK reboots the computer, and no repair options ever load.

I made two separate boot disks to rule out a bad CD, but still get the same error #

This is a brand new Dell computer, both DVD drives work fine, and burn CDs without problems.

A:"Sytem Repair Disk" Can't Load - Error 4001100200001012

Update:

In looking at what came with my computer, I do in fact have a "Reinstallation DVD" for W7. It boots OK into the repair console. So, the problem in making my own boot disk is a moot point for now - other then the desire to understand that error code.

I receive this error regardless of the browser I'm using but I am connected to the internet; I can connect to steam and update games for example. The issue is tied solely to the inability to load websites. Mine is the only computer on the network that is displaying the issue.

Any help resolving the problem would be appreciated.

A:Receive "Server Not Found" error when trying to load websites.

You should run the following two commands one at a time, type them into an elevated command prompt, hit enter after each one.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)

I am using the Steam version of the game.

I have updated the AMD driver fully to 12.1 and as well as the game.

I may have this issue solved, I just need to verify the game cache. More updates in 10 minutes.

Update: It has been solved

========================
Got "Page Failed to Load" error attempting to change my Win7-64bit display resolution.
This used to work, but no more ( don't know what might have caused it)

I ran "sfc /scannow". SFC reported that there were corrupted files that could not be repaired or replaced and to look at CBS.log. I did but can make no sense out of it.

Please find that file attached -- Any help will be appreciated.....

thank you,
Chuck

A:"Page Failed to Load" error attempting to change my Win7-64bit display

Run the system file check again. Sometimes it requires multiple runs. Reboot after each run (or before the first run if you have not rebooted since the last time you ran the check).Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.

I have Windows 7 and a Motorola SB5101 Modem. My problem is that I'm getting a consistent "connection timed out" error on a specific website and no other site seems to be affected by it on three different browsers. The only thing I can figure is something having to do with a brief power outage that happened last night. I have tried disabling all my AV/Firewall programs, resetting the modem, trying to open port 443 (the port mentioned in the error message), system restore a couple days back and safe mode with networking, all to no avail.

Hi everyone,
as you may already know the Toshiba System Settings require the Toshiba Password Utility to run properly. I installed the Password Utility but when i launch it i get the Error: „DLL load error.“
In another thread i found the „solution“ to install an older Version. I installed about 10 different older versions now, none of them worked.
Manual registering of the DLLs does fail (only 1 gets registered via regsrv32)
What to do? Thanks!

I am getting the error "Failed to load resources from resource file. Please check your Setup" This happens every time I try to access a Word document. I am using Word 2003 from the Small business pkg.

I searched on their site and there was a download for those who use the Outlook business contact manager also, which I do. I downloaded the file, when to install it and it says it is already there.

I am running Windows 2000, this just started today and my updates are up to date.

Any ideas? I can ignore the warning and work, if I click OK or the X, it shuts down Word.

Thanks!

A:"Failed to load resources....." error in word

Try the Detect and Repair option from the Help menu. You will need to insert your Office disc when asked.

I woke up this morning to find a screen that looks like my computer rebooting, except on the bottom of the screen there is a message that says "Error Loading OS". I tried to reboot my computer after I saw this and I get the same message. The message pops up after all of the PCI devices are listed during the reboot process. I am not sure what I have to do to fix this problem, and any help will be appreciated.

What operating system are you using? Also, do you have the operating system on CD? Is it OEM, example Dell, Gateway, etc. or Genuine Windows?
