Browsers is closing

Q: Browsers is closing

I just re-installed XP. I use Mozilla mostly as my browser. Now when I'm on a website and try to open up a Java Chat it will close the browser. The same thing happens with IE. I don't have any popup blockers, nor do I have the browser set to block popups.

Any thoughts on what is causing this?

Thank you

Preferred Solution: Browsers is closing

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After downloading an addon pack for a game, I noticed that my adblock had been removed from chrome. I tried to reinstall but was denied access. An ad search program had been installed on to my computer. I unistalled chrome and went to reinstall but the page no longer loads.

When opening IE or Firefox they both suddenly close if I am opening a video or trying to load the chrome site. I have run malwarebytes and it has come up with no viruses. When I try booting into safe mode with networking, I get a blue screen telling me the computer has been shut down to prevent further damage. Any help or tips is appreciated.

Hello I am in need of some assistance with my IE browser but the problem only happens while using the default MSN homepage After closing the web browser a number of times while on MSN multiple browsers will suddenly reopen I have noticed that when the browsers reopen the url is a Only) Closing After 10 (MSN IE Multiple Reopen Browsers little different from the original Here is an example of what some of Multiple IE 10 Browsers Reopen After Closing (MSN Only) the urls might look like below MSN com But when I change my default homepage to another search engine such as google yahoo or bing this problem does not occur It only happens on the msn website Just today I have discovered what is causing the browser to do this and it is the TrueSuiteService application that is part of the HP Simplepass program that is already pre-installed on my laptop When disabled the problem no longer occurs However when it is enabled the problem will reoccur after a certain amount of times opening and closing the browser Here is a screenshot of the application disabled below But here are two screenshots of all the applications that are enable on startup Either way I am unsure of which direction I should take to solve this matter completely Please help me Thank you for your assistance

Multiple IE 10 Browsers Reopen After Closing Default Homepage (MSN - Microsoft Community

Quote from the other thread,
I followed the instructions within the clean boot about background applications and it worked. I discovered that the background TrueSuiteService application from HP in the services tab was what was causing the problem. After disabling it, I no longer had multiple browsers opening up. However, it still boggles my mind that how come it would be this application causing this issue? Also I notice that all the HP products are labeled "Hewlett-Packard Company" in the manufacturer status however; the disabled application is only labeled "HP" as the manufacturer? Could this possibly be a hidden virus on my computer? If so, how do I remove it? end of Quote

Hi

Just recently, my internet browsers (Mozilla FireFox, IE, and Safari) have been randomly closing. I've noticed it happening when I load Java scripts or play games that require some sort of plugin. For example, Runescape or Club Penguin. Also, sometimes my screen would just turn blank when I play or load stuff like that.

It does not close when I load normal pages like these.
I have done a full system scan with the latest Norton and it has only found 2 tracking cookies, so I doubt it is a virus related issue.

Someone somehow made the BIOS look into the CD/Floppy drive for the OS. I changed the settings so it would look into the C:\ like normal. This is when the browsers started acting weird.

Any help would be appreciated! (I know I can buy a new PC, but I can't atm so please do not suggest that)

Thank you!

Recently I've downloaded the latest flash player. Ever since then my internet keeps closing down when I go on sites using flash. I've used FireFox too but it just does the same thing. There isn't any viruses or anything, don't know why it's doing that though.

When the browser complains that there are 2 browsers open to the same site, you can clear the cookies, and the browser will not remember the previous connections.

Hi Guys,

Whenever I tried to rename a file or delete a file, I often encounter an issue (refer to attach pic) whereby an error message will appear and state that the action is unable to complete. At this point of time, I did not open any other window on my pc.

To rectify this, I always have to closed my existing folder and re-open it again before I can execute the deleting/renaming. It's rather annoying especially when you are doing house keeping of your folders.

Anyone encounter the same issue?

Please help - My Windows XP Sony Vaio PCG-K295HP laptop has developed a fault that causes windows to close of their own accord, web browsers to display 'stopped' and fail to load web pages and my laptop now beeps for approximately 30 seconds whilst booting up.

I have read as much as i can find about this on various forums and have attached a hijack this logfile.

Thanks in advance!

A:Constant beeping on startup, and windows automatically closing. Web browsers stopping

Constant beeping is always some sort of warning. Does your laptop have a video card that could possibly have become disconnected? Is your memory seated tightly. When a ram module becomes loose, it too can cause a beeping. Good Luck. I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about laptops otherwise.

Spouse showed me her Dell running Win 8.1, said that Chrome was closing itself.
Tried to find security program for scan, learned that it is Windows Defender (I use Win 7 on mine, running MSE).

But in the task list, I found a process called "crome.exe" running at 76% CPU!!!!! (yes, the spelling on that process is correct)

Had to use End Task twice to shut it down.

This all looks fishy to me, which is why I post here. Google search for "crome process" gets no meaningful results

Started running Defender full scan now & not complete.

Told spouse to use IE rather than Chrome for now, and it is shutting itself down just the same.

Appreciate information about what it going on.

A:Browsers Closing Themselves: "crome.exe" process found

As a precaution download and run Malwarebytes Free, not the trial version:

Do you have a 3rd party Firewall or anti-virus program installed?

A:BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome

Hi Haxiel.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

A:Slow browser, IE closing, Outlook and Yahoo closing

Hi Elise,
thank you. I ended up getting rid of PC Tools Internet Security and switching to AVG Basic Free. I think most of the major problems went away.
Yahoo has stayed up, Outlook has stayed up, browser seems to work quickly, facebook didn't have floating text and pictures anymore, was able to do some posting, sent some large emails. But, and not exactly sure, IE has frozen up, but not as often. The dds program you had me run this morning froze and I had to do a hard shut off, task mgr didn't respond and the weirdest thing of all, the clock stopped. Can't say I have ever seen that. So I am not sure what exactly is going on, if it really is malware or some setting is messed up. I wasn't able to run video on a site last night. Major improvement since I got rid of PC tools, but not quite right. Sorry, nontechie.

Obvious to anyone. You have three malware apps running live at the same time. You have Avast, Kaspersky, and AVG.

You need to remove them all and install Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST.

If you continue to crash even after removing them upload the DMP file as you have old drivers that need updating.

I do not like having any browser as my default browser. I use Firefox, Opera, and Chrome and sometimes have 2 browsers loaded concomitantly. I mistakenly made Chrome my default browser, how do I reverse this process. I removed Chrome via the control panel but when I reinstalled it it was still set as the default browser. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you. /* Philip */

A:Eliminate all Browsers that are 'default browsers'

Try the tutorials below and see if it helps. I'm not sure if you can stop one browser or another from being the default but you can untick "Use as Default Browser" in both Firefox and Opera settings

We had the radio on this morning and have just heard that Microsoft are no longer going to have XP. They went on to say users would have to buy new things such as Windows 8 etc. or be at risk of the system being targeted by hackers and so people would be at risk; they (we) should buy tablets with different programes etc., Is this true and why when so many people aill be unable to switch due to cost and also because many of us older people find the new Tablers, IPhones etc.,difficult to use and understand. Surely such a large organization such as Microsoft should carry on with the 35% of us who have XP and do not want to change?
Kind regards.......Margaret

Create a directory on your hardrive to save HijackThis.exe. A directory like c:\hijackthis. If you do not do this, you will not be able to use the backup/restore features.

Download HijackThis from:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Save this file into the directory you made previously and then run the program named hijackthis.exe. When the program opens click on the Config button, then click on the Misc Tools button, and click on the Check for update online button. When it completes checking/applying updates press the back button.

Now click on the Scan button and when it is finished click on the Save Log button. A Notepad window will open with the contents of this log. Click on Edit then click on Select all. Then click on Edit and then Click on Copy.

Create a reply to this post here and right click in message area and select paste to paste the log into the post.

Hi everyone. For no apparent reason my computer is refusing to close down unless I go back to my home page.It just hangs.Any ideas?

A:closing down

Hi There!

It sounds like there's something running that may be hanging up and not closing properly.

Perhaps run an online virus scan at Housecall

If the system is clean, then download Spybot S&D or AdAware and install it. Once it's installed, then run the updates first, then scan the system.
Let us know who things go!
Good Luck!

Hi,
I am new to this forum and hope you can help me. Every time I click on a video in IE (6) it runs for a while and then comes up with the error of "Internet Net Explorer has encountered a problem and must close down"
I send the error report as requested, but nothing seems to work. It's amazing that the commercials all work, but once the video starts it pops up that message. Sometimes the video will continue playing anyway, but sometimes it just freezes up.
Thanks for any help you can give.

A:Ie Keeps Closing Down

Hi cbstiff, First welcome to BC.
There are quite a few things that that message means.
Was there a Details button with the message,if so, next time click it. The error message would give better details of what the message was pointing to and easier to solve.
In the mean time In iternet optionds clear cookies and temp files.
Run your AV and spyware scans as many times it's a malware issue.
Let us know.

I have Windows XP and I have the Service Pack2. When I am surfing the web or playing online games IE just shuts down for no reason. My AIM does the same thing...closing for no reason. I also noticed that my PC is running slower than usual too. Does any one have any ideas why this could be happening? Any help would be appreciated.

A:IE keeps closing

These could be symptoms of many problems. When was the last time you ran scandisk and defragged your hard drive? How much RAM do you have? Have you checked for malware?

John

"IE has found it necessary to close blah-blah---we regret any inconvenience. Would you like to report this error?"

What in the deuce is this? They're not kidding, it's inconvenient! I have done a search of IE questions here and don't find a problem exactly like it. Was IE 6 made available before the bugs were out?????

Has anyone seen this before?

A:IE not closing like it should

hello, yeah mine also hangs a little bit as well, is this where ya click the x at the top right hand corner and stays for like another second and closes? If you are also in the process of looking for another web browser than Mozilla Firefox is a good one

But to answer ya question I have seen it before, I will lookup for some resolutions if I can for you, I am not sure if Internet Explorer 7 has a update to it as of yet but maybe worth having a look for one

I'm trying to help a friend of mine, he's getting the isearch c*** on his computer. I've suggested he run hjt and post his log so someone can help. The problem is....as soon as hjt stops scanning a window pops up telling him the window is closing. He can see the scan results but is unable to do anything with them. He ran the cwshredder and another coolwww something or another as suggested at the hjt website. Any suggestions on how he can get that to work? Thanks!

A:HJT keeps closing

I'm sure you meant CRUD....

====

Try the older version of HJT (link info below) or try it in Safe Mode. It's not preferred, but it's a start.

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis1982.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. Open up the result.txt file created. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

So, my computer was stricken with virut. So to make a long story short I had to reformat. For all the gory details see (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic242301.html).

I used the HP recovery disks and reinstalled. I also upgraded to IE8. Things appear fine with my computer except that IE closes on me quite often with a warning that IE has encounted an error and will have to shut down (even though it doesn't always shutdown) and it asked me if I want to send the info to MS. If I click details on the error I get the following or something similar ...

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 8.0.6001.18702 ModName: pkr.dll

Download Unlocker and install it:http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/Once installed, go to the C:\Windows\system32\iniwin32.dll file.Rightclick on it.Choose 'Unlocker' from the context menu.A new Window will open.Click the button 'Unlock all' below. Then delete the iniwin32.dll file.(It could be possible you won't be able to delete it yet and a reboot is needed, but before reboot, you need to check and fix the entries in hijackthis first). So open hijackthis and check and fix next entries:O2 - BHO: CControl Object - {3643ABC2-21BF-46B9-B230-F247DB0C6FD6} - C:\Program Files\E2G\IeBHOs.dll O20 - AppInit_DLLs: iniwin32.dll In case you get an error while checking the O20 line, ignore the error, rescan with hijackthis and check again if still present. Then Reboot. After reboot, delete the iniwin32.dll file if you were not able to delete it right after using the Unlocker.Delete the C:\Program Files\E2G folder.Post a new hijackthislog in your next reply and let me know how things worked.

Hi and welcome to BleepingComputer Is your log still active at MajorGeeks? If so, you should only follow the advise given by the helper at that forum. Doing otherwise can cause major problems.I didn't see where you had run malwarebytes, so let's try it here. The process of cleaning your computer may require temporarily disabliling some security programs. If you are using SpyBot Search and Destroy, please refer to Note 2 at the bottom of this page. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself.Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note:-- If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. Note 2:-- MBAM may make changes to your registry as part of its disinfection routine. If you're using other security programs that detect registry changes (like Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere with the fix or alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please disable such programs until disinfection is complete or permit them to allow the changes. To disable these programs, please view this topic: How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

I down loaded the new IE-7 and know when I open it, it loads goes to open my home page and then closes. Some times it will let me start working on some thing an then it will close, right when I'm doing something. Other times it will work for 2-3 days and then close.

Finding the programs that are activated at start up is quite straightforward - but how do you view the bells checks and whistles that occur when you close down? I ask this because recently closing down has become a very slow process and I would like to find out what is causing this. After the saving your settings message the screen freezes, mouse becomes fixed, and then after a couple of minutes the PC closes down normally. This can be annoying when you need to reboot to clear the memory, for instance. Any clues would be appreciated by this octogenerian!

I just got Windows 7 home premium. I can't figure what to do. I start windows, and as long as I am using it stays open. But if I do nothing for about 2 min. it goes back to where I sign in to Windows again. Then I have to enter my password again,to get back in to Windows again. There must be a setting for this, but I can't find it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

I have a DVD on which I recorded a number of important items using a dedicated DVD machine. I did not "close" the DVD because I wanted to add further material.

In the meantime the DVD machine (which is out of warranty) has died leaving me with an "open" DVD which I cannot access using my computers.

Does anyone know of a way in which a DVD can be "closed" if the machine on which it was recorded is no longer available?

Thanks

T.

I can have AIM running all day. I can see who is online, who signs in or signs off and i can read people's Away messages. However, the second I try to message someone, the message window will open partially, then AIM freezes for 3 or 4 secs and then shuts down completely.
If I switch user to a Guest profile on my XP OS I can use AIM no problem but not on my main, owner profile??

Take today i just turned it on got to XP login and my desktop then the screen went blank and it turned itself off.

secondly a funny noise is comming from inside my pc on occassions which sounds like what a phone sounds like once a dial-up connection is in situe...crackly noises and a slight whistling noise..does anyone know what it is?

The latter only started after I reformatted.

My operating System is:-

AMD Duron Processor
1.29 Ghz
320 MB

I have 2 hard drives C & D

I have an internal modem but it's not in use it is disabled as I connect to the net via an external ADSL modem. I have no drivers installed for the internal modem.

Whenever I minimize Outlook it closes the program. I have found some suggestions, like right clicking on the icon and changing the "hide when minimize" option, however I don't have this option when I right click on it. Also tried changing the properties on the "start" button and that doesn't work either. Any other ideas??

A:Outlook closing

If you are able to see the Outlook Icon in the system tray, right click on it and uncheck the box Hide when Minimized if it’s checked.Click to expand...

Found this during a search, check it out

I don't want my laptop to be put to sleep when i close the lid and so I set it to do nothing when I close the lid. However, after some time, it reverts back to the default setting and closing the lid will put my computer to sleep. I have no idea why...

A:Changing what closing the lid does

Is this on battery or AC ?
