z400 Workstation and compatible processors

Q: z400 Workstation and compatible processors

I have searched through the HP site and this forum for information on compatible processors for the Z400 workstation. I have found lists and posts of compatible Xeon processors for the 6 DIMM motherboard: W3520, W3550, W3565, W3580, W3670, W3680 and W3690. But the W3530 is not mentioned. I am confused why the W3530 is not listed as a compatible processor when a search of the Z400 results in hundreds of results of Z400 workstation configured with this processor. it's even listed on this link:http://h71016.www7.hp.com/html/psg_111510ws1/index.asp?psn=desktops_workstations/workstation. So can anybody confirm whether the Xeon W3530 2.8 Ghz Quad Core processor will work with my Z400, 6 DIMM motherboard as I have one available but do want to risk damage to the motherboard and/or processor. Thank you

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Recently had a computer 7 Z400 HP workstation Windows - get a blank screen on HP Z400 workstation - Windows 7 reboot it would loop in the Windows Professional bit startup repair utility I was unable to repair from an image so I had ordered the Reinstall Repair disks from HP While waiting I googled the error and found symptoms similar to others who had a rootkit virus and they mentioned getting to the desktop by choosing the boot option of not verifying signatures and then cleaned the virus with TDSSKiller from Kaspersky Those suggestions worked in our case and TDSSKiller found the infection in MBR Program said it was removed and I did an additional scan with MSSE MS security essentials and everything looked good Her computer shut down over the weekend for windows updates and on reboot the virus was back I followed the same procedures but I believe the malware virus is still residing in the master boot record I need some guidance on additional steps to clean it up thank you Gabe

A:Clean install on my HP Z400 workstation

Lynne_29 To reinstall Win7 on your workstation, you need genuine HP OEM Recovery Media, not a USB or DVD that was made from an ISO download, or purchased from Microsoft. Saying that because the HP Recovery Media is a set of DVDs and a CD, and the DVD set is bootable. To use that, all you do is insert the first DVD into the optical drive, close the door, and boot the PC. If you are using different media, we can not help with that.

I know my motherboard has to be able to support a faster processor but how do I find this out?
All I really Know is that I have an AMD Athlon XP (I think) 1.2GHz processor. I dont have a clue what motherboard I have, which leads to another question.. how do I find that out?

Thanks :grinthumb

So i'm planning on upgrading my processor and the manual gives the following compatible processors:
Intel® Core™ i7 - 3610QM Processor
Intel® Core™ i5 - 3210M Processor
Intel® Core™ i3 - 3110M Processor

Does this mean that every i7 processor is compatible or just that specific 1? because i've tried finding it but that has proven to be really difficult.

A:Solved: Compatible processors

Most likely, it means exactly what it says; you need the specific cpu. Just because a mb supports a given socket does NOT mean it supports all cpus based on said socket. A mb bios must have the correct microcode to run the cpu at the correct multi AND it must set the correct vcore or cpu voltage. In addition, different cpus require different amounts of wattage ie pw consumption. The mb VRs must be capable of reliably supplying the required pw.

Since this is a laptop, you are going to be very restricted on what cpu you can install.

A:Solved: Compatible Processors with my Motherboard

NO, the article you linked to at the Intel site doesn't mean you can use a Core 2 Duo processor in your board.

Dell boards are manufacturer proprietary with a proprietary BIOS. Only Dell can tell you positively what processors are supported by your board.

Well an Intel is out of the question, your motherboard has a different kind of socket only compatible with AMD processors.  In this case you are lucky because most of these low-end processors are soldered on. Yours is socketed and that same socket can take up to  an AMD Phenom II P950 Processor (2.6 GHZ 2 MB L2 cache 1333MHz)-Quad core 25 W http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-Phenom-II-Quad-Core-Mobile-P950-2-1-GHz-Laptop-Processor-CPU-HMN950DCR42... Your Service Manual This processor or any of the listed Athlon, Phenom or Turion processors listed on pages 1 and 2 of the Manual would be a night and day upgrade. Your assessment of the V120 is correct. A cell phone has as much processing power. The Manual shows step by step how to replace the processor. Read the post very nearby to this one, with OP Mick Underwood.  That includes links and info on how to get a SSD going on W7/W8 in the xw series workstations (SATA generation II motherboards),for which HP recommends to not use SATA generation III drives unless they have come from HP.  Here's the link.  You also can read here about adding a second matching processor to that xw6600 if you only have one processor in place, and even upgrading both processors to the fastest quad core that HP ever certified for that workstation.  That is what I have done, for my personal HP workstation, and with that treatment it almost equals a 6-core Z620 (and beats a comparable Z600) on the W7 Windows Experience Index scores. You need to do all the steps properly, as discussed, including starting from scratch and doing a full clean install in my opinion.  These OS versions do special things for SSD installs behind the scenes.  That second system-reserved partition mentioned is quite important......  All that info is here in the forum. I'm not looking at a SSD for increased capacity, but for increased speed.  As such I'm using Intel Generation 2 or Intel Generation 3 SSDs (both of which are "SATA generation II" type of drives, 3Gb/sec), and specifically the X25-M G2 (34 nm build) or Intel 320 series (25 nm build).  I have found the X25-M G2 to be a bit faster than the 320 series of same size.  The 320 does have some generational benefits over the G2 drive..... read in anandtech.com about this if you wish.  I generally am using 160 GB size as my boot drive, and have a larger conventional storage drive.  I keep at least 25% of the boot drive free for breathing room.  You can read in anandtech.com about that, and also find some great review articles on these specific Intel SSDs.  You can buy larger sizes in the 320 version than the X25-M G2 drives, but for special builds for our purposes the 160GB SSD is more than enough (dedicated teleratiology workstations). Both of those types Intel SSDs work perfectly with the current Intel ToolBox for optimizing, TRIM housekeeping, and firmware updating.  At about 90.00 used off eBay for a 160GB size that is all I need for these builds (I don't even put in a storage drive for them).  The Intel ToolBox gives an estimate of SSD life left, and out of the 10 I have bought only 2 were less than 100%..... they had been used in servers, and had about 95% life left.  Over the past year of use there has been no drop in % life thereafter.  Our normal use just does not seem to wear these out at all. One of these, used, is a great way to get very fast performance for cheap.  You'd be happier with greater than 160 GB size, I'm sure, and other Generation II SSDs should be easy to find too.

I've "successfully" installed the HP Z Turbo Drive G2 in a Z620 workstation. I can read and write to the drive using an Ubuntu Live USB drive, and it successfully partitioned and copied the setup files for Ubuntu 16.04 Desktop, but it failed on reboot.

Windows 10 setup can see the drive as well, and can repartition it. It errors out saying it can't be booted from and Windows doesn't let setup proceed. It suggests setting it up in the BIOS so that the boot controller will allow it to boot, but I havent found that setting yet.

Also, I updated the BIOS to J61 V03.88 prior to installing the card into slot 4.

Am I overlooking how to enable it to boot from the drive?

Thanks,

-Shawn

We are using Supermicro Server which is installed with 4 processor of AMD (AMD Opetron 6000 Series) the server is having four processor sockets, please do clarify that windows 7 64 bit version will support 4 physical processor installed on the server or
not, or is there any patch which we can apply to the OS so that it can take all the 4 physical  processors.
What are the hardware limitations of Windows 7 64 bit ?

So I rebooted the win7 workstation went to login to it normally with the users credentials and it acts like its a new user login everything is default all pst's, docs, favs, everything is gone . If you browse the windows explorer you can see there are other similar profiles that it looks like used to be . What would happen if I tried to rename a user in Active directory?

I was aghast for reinstallations of Windows 8 because of reasons unknown which ran operating system into trouble.
Now I know why this happened, because I selected maximum number of processors shown in 'Msconfig', which really doesn't exists ('Msconfig' showed 4 processors for Intel Core i3210).
From next start Windows 8 ran into trouble and within a day or two of using this desktop stopped responding, happened for all operating systems where I selected maximum number of processors shown in 'Msconfig'.
Therefore do not select maximum number of processors from 'Msconfig'.

Why the strangeqe question?

you see I have a Dell XPS 15z laptop with a core i7 processor, 8 Giga RAM running Windows 7 Premium and I also have an HP desktop with a core two duo processor, 3 Gigs of ram running Windows 7 Professional but surprizingly the desktop runs faster than the laptop when I give them both tthe same task on Photoshop CS6 ( a processor heavy application). I feel that I have been cheated into buying the Dell laptop which at the time of purchase was expensive in the is country.

A:Are there any new processors that are faster than Core I7 processors

Does it use 100% cpu for a long time? (so cpu is the bottleneck)
Is it a multithreaded application, so are tasks split in many subtasks and use different cores?

Im working on building a server and I need an AMD processor in it. Right now, im looking at AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model ADA3800BVBOX for $322. The purpose of this server is just a place that 4 computers can access. Its not going to be set up as a server, but just Windows XP without a monitor. Im running an intel pentium 4 on the computer holding the network right now, and it is doing fine. Sometimes its just a little slow. So, I would like a little better than a Pentium 4, but AMD. Also, less then $322. What can I get?

Thanks,

I have a HP Z400 PC with an error meesage: Driver stopped v 275.89. I thought it was my monitor. I replaced the monitor. Same error. What could be my problem? The error message continues: Nivida windows kernel mode..driver 275.89.That appears to be an HP workstation and the driver dates from November 2011 (assuming Win 7 Pro 32-bit). See here for other OS and drivers: HP Z400 operating systems and driversIt could be an indication that the drivers are corrupt in which case you would need to uninstall/reinstall the graphics drivers again. You can download them from the same site after selecting your OS. But I had a similar message on a Sony Vaio notebook not so long ago and without doing anything, the system recovered of its own accord. I'd suggest monitoring the situation for the time being at least.

Hi, my Z400 desktop PC won't boot from the DVD-drive or from any USB port. I am using Hirens boot cd, working fine on other PC's we have.  My system is in RAID+AHCI mode. In the BIOS, i set the bootorder to 1. diskettedrive, then next in row is the DVD-drive, then the USB and last but not least the harddrive. All drives are in SATA-mode.I also  enabled the ability to boot from removable media in the "storage options"-section.Now when i start the PC, it ignores these settings and starts only from the harddrive. When using the F9 key at boot, the only option i get is starting from harddrive. Can it be that the RAID+AHCI mode prevents the system from booting from DVD? Any suggestions?

A:Z400 NO Bios where can i get it from

Hi Gabipen,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that the computer is not booting to Windows after trying to partition the Hard Drive within Windows, this might have corrupted the operating System installed in the computer. I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power and BIOS reset. Below are the steps to check and resolve the issue:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
If the issue persists even after performing Flee Power then resetting BIOS to its defaults should resolve the issue
To access BIOS menu turn OFF the computer and press NOVO button which is located at the left hand side of the computer.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now Click on ?F10? Key to safe the changes that are done in BIOS, restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

 Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back for further queries.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Hi,

I have HP Z400 workstation. It came with 2 x 2GB = 4GB Ram
I just added 2 x 4GB Ram in it.
The following document says I can add 4GB 4GB 2GB 2GB = 12GB Ram in my system.
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13276_div/13276_div.PDF

But the problem is the confusion on memory slots.

The CPU box says memory slots are in order

1 4 2 5 3 6

and when I open the HP Support Assistant it says
1 2 3 4 5 6

You will better understand from the image given below

Maybe somebody here knows what to do After I changed the setting of the PCIe-slots to compute the z no longer starts at all and won't give Beebe 6 Z400 me a chance to change this setting back to the way it was I understand that the compute setting is reserved Z400 6 Beebe for special video cards like the Nvidia Tesla card and I also know by now that it is completely wrong Z400 6 Beebe for my needs When I now press the power button I Z400 6 Beebe see the red light flasing along with the beeps indicating a graphics error I already tried to reset the cmos by taking the battery out pushing the cmos button but no luck The way I see it the z no longer expects a regular graphics card in the PCIe slots and therefore signals that no card is installed same error code without any graphics card installed So does anyone know how I can change this back to normal There must be a way I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help because I'm in the middle of a production and this workstation plays a crucial role

Your W3505 is already a 130W processor, so you have the Performance fan.  Shift over to either the W3680 (search eBay for SLBV2, and you'll find some now at 93.50 USD).  Or, if you want to go from 3.33 to 3.46 GHz speed spend the extra and get the W3690 for about 145.00 off eBay.  That is a psychological thing.... you won't be able to tell the difference in the real world, and all the other main features are identical. The ultimate would be the X5690, which has a single sSpec code of SLBVX, and on eBay used is going now for about 245.00 USD.  I got mine recently with careful shopping for 220.00, but the Revision 1 Z400 cost me only 100.00 plus shipping.  I needed to do this test..... I have posted in here on adding a USB3.0 HP Texas Instruments card.... make sure it goes into a PCIe Gen II slot so bus speed will let it get to USB3.0 max speed.  My post includes info on the HP 5.25 to 3.5 adapter that will let you place my favorite Akasa front interface into that and mount it below your optical drive in the spare bay up top.  I included into on the correct Molex brand 4-wire peripheral to SATA power adapter that I get from Mouser.com to fit that card perfectly.  You end up with 4 USB3 slots, 2 rear/2 front. Here are some links on that process: Herehttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/z600-z620-Front-Panel-USB-3-0-Upgrade/m-p/5545549/highlight/true#M11730 Herehttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/USB-3-0-for-Z800/m-p/5066733/highlight/true#M4777 and Herehttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/Adding-a-USB-3-0-slots-ports-card-to-a-Z400/m-p/5086734   You have the SSD..... Gen II vs Gen III is not really an issue..... stick with plugging that straight into the SATA port 0 on the motherboard.  Dump all SAS.   I've posted here on how to drop your boot times dramatically.... read up on that.  Use the forum's search box above to find these things.   I added a 40x40x20mm Northbridge fan, 4-wire HP version, from a xw6600 motherboard.  Mine is screwed atop the normal silver Northbridge heatsink fins, and there would be several ways to attach that.  The fan blows up away from the motherboard pulling cooler air in through the heatsink from below.  The same fan is used on the Z600 Northbridge.  There is a spare motherboard standard PWM white header near there, and I added an in-line Noctua 4-wire LNA to drop its speed (which I do for all the HP Northbridge fans).  That adds to the length overall and lets the fan plug reach the motherboard header.  The RPM speeds now show up in the temp/rpm section of the Z400 BIOS as a memory cooling fan.  So, the original header appears to have been intended for a memory cooler, but it is perfect for the Northbridge cooling.  The speeds of either of those 2 processors would boost the heat at the Northbridge, and that was my solution (but probably that is not really needed).  I don't know if HP ever did a similar things for some high end Z400s, but seeing that fan used on the xw6600 and Z600 inspired me to add that to this Z400.  You can get those fans with the proper HP wiring by searching eBay, and from China where they were all made.  That specifically is the Delta EFB0412HD -7R49, and that modifier at the end designates the HP 4-wire PWM controlled version.   You want all 6 memory slots filled by identical 2 or 4 GB sticks, with 1333 memory speeds to take best advantage of the HP memory engineering and the fact that they'll be able to run at that speed with those processors. The HP PCIe supplemental power 6-wire cable provides significantly more power than the ATX 75W max standard..... I don't see an issue there for your video card needs, within reason.  Your net pow... Read more

How? ram in a x gb config only a x gb I have a z system running with HP Z400 works with unsupported CPU and Ram. A:HP Z400 works with unsupported CPU and Ram. How?

@RageIncoming?, welcome to the forum. It is possible because HP's specs are telling you the components that have been thoroughly tested to assure that they will work with the motherboard without problems.  There is always a chance that other components will work, but they are not supported by HP.  You install them at your own risk. Will this work again, I can't say for certain because not all motherboards are created equal.  I have seen two of exactly the same motherboards not overclock the same.  One will overclock way better and faster.  This is just one example. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

will a intell Xeon x5670 work in a z400

A:X5670 work in a hp z400

I think you have a shot at this, and please do post back on your experimentation. Read up in here on the two different versions of the Z400/Z600/Z800, and how to look at their boot block date in BIOS to tell if you have version 1 or version 2 (which is officially known as revision 1). Then, read up on the processor limitations depending on whether you have the earlier or later version.  If you have the original version then you are out of luck due to a chipset limitation. Then, there is info on whether a processor is listed in your workstation's QuickSpecs.  Generally if it is not listed it it will not work due to it not being present in the "microcode" part of BIOS.  Just because it theoretically should work does not mean that it will.  This rule has a very few exceptions, and this may be one of them. Long and short of it is.... if you have the revision 1 motherboard (the later version) and you load the latest BIOS you might just get lucky and have it work.  You'll need to learn about "Performance" heatsinks, too.  If the motherboard does not see a high performance heatsink it will refuse to proceed.  You can spoof the motherboard on this, however, but it is best to use a true higher performance HP heatsink in this situation rather than the wiring spoof. If you have free access to one of those processors and a Performance heatsink I'd recommend trying it.  You won't hurt the processor or the workstation.  There are some hints that this will work, despite it not being supposed to in the Z400 revision 1.  Everything above must line up correctly..... Let us know.......

A:z400 TOUCHSCREEN PROBLEM?

hi lisheng,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

First Try doing a Power Drain.

Then Open Device Manager and open the Human Interface Devices
Uninstall all that starts with HID- then restart the system See if the problem will go away

If still the same I would consider this as a hardware Issue

Does anyone what aftermarket Motherboards would replace my stock unit (ob4ch) ?

A:New mothboard upgrade, Z400 0b4ch MOBO

If you're going to install a new (or used) motherboard make sure you get one with six memory slots, not 4.  The newer version ("Revision 1") motherboards can run the older processors, and the newer ones that can only run on the updated 6-slot motherboard. You can see the two version's HP Parts number if you google "Z400 spare parts".... this is the one you want, with the later part number: System board (motherboard) - Intel Tylersburg-C2 1S/DDR3, 1333 MHz front side bus, six DIMM memory slots, and one IEEE-1394a (Firewire) port586968-001 Key info is that each HP part has two numbers.... the above is one of the two for that exact same motherboard, and you can search for that" on eBay to find the second.  Or, just look and make sure you have a 6-sloter.  It is quite easy to do a motherboard transplant.   There is a new BIOS for that as of 4/16, by the way.  Make sure to install that too. You can read up in this forum about "Z400 boot block date" to see more about the differences.  That revision 1 Z400 is still excellent......

I am using a HP Z400 Workstation Xeon Quad-Core W3565 3.2GHz, 12GB (3x4GB), 1TB, DVDRW, Windows 7 Pro.This the the model with 6 memory slots, so there was a possiblity for 24GB of RAM.  When I populate the remaining slots 4, 5 & 6 with 4GB DIMM, I get errors on boot up for the newly populated slots.  I am unable to configure for 24GB.I did discovered that the DDR3's that I am using are non-ECC.  The system has been running fine with the (3x4GB) setup.  Is the non-ECC preventing the 24GB configuration from working? Thanks for any help you can offer.

A:z400 - 6 slot memory configut=ration

Yes it is. It is not possible to install standard PC and server memory, I've never seen a system of any brand which supports such a configuration. Officially, the Z400 supports only ECC unbuffered memory modules. However, it will also run with standard DDR3 RAMs, unsupported only means that HP Customer Service won't help you. There are some reports that even 8 GB Modules work, but that's another story, 24 GB runs fine. Mixing different types of memory is generally a bad idea.Use either ECC unbuffered (which is recommended) or non-ECC, preferably six identical modules.DDR3 are relatively cheap, even those with error checking and correction. Good luck

I am in the process of upgrading the graphics card on my HP z400 works station.  The computer original had a Nivdia Quadro 4000 graphic card, 2GB, however, this is presently proving to be a bottle neck when carrying out renderings.  In view of this I am considering purchasing an Nvidia GTX 1080 8 GB graphics card.  However, I am not sure that this is compatable with my mother board.  I have read that PCI 3 cards are compatible with PCI 2 mounts, given that this is a costly upgrade I do not want to get it wrong. Can anyone tell me whether the HP z400 workstation can run a Nvidia GTX 1080 8GB graphics card with no loss in performance. Many thanks

Hi all,

In days of yore it was recommended to create a boot disk...just in case. I don't know whether this is still in practice with Windows XP. From what I can see online...it is. I am trying to help out a small law office who is planning to upgrade to xp. I'd planned to write instructions for them for creating their start-up disks. One question I was asked (and couldn't answer) was whether each workstation needed it's own, or if they could just create one boot disk on one workstation and keep it in the safe for all to use.

Does anyone know? Thanks!

A:Z400 Desktop - NVIDIA Graphics Card BSOD after Win 10

@Samantha24?, welcome to the forum. I have had symptoms very similar to those you are experiencing when gaming.  The solution to my problems was installing all of the patches that I found for the games.  Also, games place a lot of stress on the video card. The fact that you were able to play the games without any problems with Win 7 and are having problems with Win 10 is not surprising.  Win 10 is a complete different operating system.  It is not even close to Win 7.  Remember, Win 8 and 8.1 have been released since Win 7.  You should run HP and Windows Updates to assure the software and drivers are up to date.

A:Ideapad Z400, Z500, Z510 battery will not charge -...

Hi CuriousFox ,

Greetings.

To isolate fastest is to have another battery to use or charging the original battery on a known working compatible laptop.
The power checkout guide of the hardware machine manual provides steps to check battery charging integrity (example form Z510 manual page 21) .

You can also try plugging the laptop but not turning it on for 1-2 hours checking if there would be changes with the battery indicator LED.

Would it be the same using similar energy manager and operating system that came originally with the machine?
How is the battery health and battery report?

Update us how it goes.

Regards

I have two Lenovo Y - computers that I purchased within a couple weeks of each other nbsp They came with Windows but I upgraded to Windows nbsp A few months ago I noticed that my computer battery meter was reading for an hour nbsp I continued to work unplugged until the battery died while still reading nbsp I recharged and the battery again read for more than a couple hours then died nbsp So the battery lifetime is as good as always but the reading is not right nbsp When I Ideapad charge not Z500, Z510 Z400, -... will battery reboot it still reads nbsp Strangely the second system whcih I had not used for a while was OK but a few days later it started doing the same thing though it was reading the Ideapad Z400, Z500, Z510 battery will not charge -... charge when the computer last worked right nbsp I suscpect that this happened after a critical update which the second system went through later nbsp Recently I downloaded from the Lenovo website the newer power management software on both computers and Ideapad Z400, Z500, Z510 battery will not charge -... it did not help nbsp Then I noticed the Battery recall so downloaded the Lenovo Battery Utility to see if my system was afffected by the problem nbsp When I run the utility I get the mssage No Battery Detect nbsp So it would Ideapad Z400, Z500, Z510 battery will not charge -... appear that there may be an issue with the software detecting the batter nbsp Since I can't know the state of the battery it appears to not want to recharge until it's empty I gues because it thinks it's charged I cannot count on this computer when it's not plugged in nbsp Now I am in a bind nbsp I bought two comptures so that I would have one as a backup am leaving for a business trip in a week where I need to give a talk at a conference so need to approach the podium with the system unplugged and I have no working computer that I can count on nbsp I would buy a battery with expedited shipping if I thought this would work but I beleive it may be an issue with the OS nbsp What should I do nbsp I have two top-of-the-line systems GB SSD GB ram for whcih I paid a pretty penny and now I might have to make a quick laptop purchase for this important trip nbsp Not the stress I need at this tiem nbsp Is there a untility that I can run to isolate the problem nbsp Help

@rudiss

So I searched solution and managed to reinstall the older driver again and it worked. However when I tried to run a game the FPS became ridiculously low, much lower than it was on windows 8.1.  I found that the other graphic card, Nvidia Geforce GT635m, which had its latest driver installed,  wasn't working properly, by disabling this graphic card in device manager and I got the same FPS. I tried to install the new version of the driver of Intel HD graphic 4000, the GT635m worked again and the game got back to normal FPS while the screen brightness adjustment didn't work. So, here's my question: how could I keep both screen brightness adjustment and GT635m working properly?Do the following: 1. Cleanup Intel VGA driver with DDU in safe mode.a. Download DDU from Guru3D.comb. Boot in Safemodec. Run DDU2. Install the old Win8.1 VGA driver3. Block update.a. Download wushowhide.diagcad.b. Run wushowhidec. Select "Intel Corporation - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.0, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3 - Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000".

Hello everyone, my touch screen on my lenovo ideapad z400 touch is not working anymore.  The only weird thing I remember is some ghost touchpoint on my screen. I've been looking for the answer to this issue, but it seems that Lenovo does not address this problem.  If someone has found the solution to this problem and wants to share it with me, I will be forever grateful.
