Hello there I have an ASUS K IE laptop that i had for years now been working fine until days ACPI but is battery detect doesn't 7 Windows battery working ago this problem has been bugging me for the last days here's why my laptop suddenly didn't detect my battery thought it was because my battery was dead I searched the net on things Windows 7 ACPI doesn't detect battery but battery is working to do before quot throwing in the towel quot on my battery and today i came across a blog where the instruction was to uninstall the Microsoft ACPI compliant control method battery driver I did just that and my battery suddenly worked well sort of now here's where it gets all weird every time i open my laptop i do the following plug in AC to laptop turn on laptop unplug AC laptop runs on battery log on to windows battery icon shows up as an empty charging icon then shows the quot Battery is not detected quot icon again please take note that my laptop is still ON and WORKING so this means MAYBE that my battery is working is it a battery problem or the driver is just messed up please anyone who encountered this and had SUCCESSFULLY fixed the problem coz i need to fix this right now thanks and more power to you all

I had a problem similar a while back. Try this
1.Shut down the laptop
2.Take out the ac cord and the battery. Hold down the power for about 10 seconds to remove electric charge in the capacitors.
3.Put the battery back in and reboot.
4.Start windows normally, and See if the battery is recognized.

I recently purchased a used Ultra-slim Battery Not Working (Flashing LED) Battery EliteBook p and was disappointed at the battery life probably Ultra-slim Battery Not Working (Flashing Battery LED) due to years of use on the battery so I decided to buy an Ultra-slim battery to maximize my battery life Today it arrived in the mail and I plugged it in only to find it doesn't seem to work nbsp When I plug it in with the internal battery still installed the battery lightning bolt LED starts to flash amber and for the most part does not stop until I remove it In Windows the internal battery shows up as Battery and reports nothing installed for Battery nbsp If I only have the external battery installed the computer will not power on without the power adapter plugged in and the computer reports no batteries installed nbsp I have tried resetting the computer as instructed by another post on here unplug power and all batteries and hold the power button for seconds but that did not help nbsp I can't find any kind of battery diagnostic tests within BIOS settings so I'm not really sure if this is an issue with the computer or the battery I bought the battery used but the seller guaranteed nbsp it was tested and that it worked Do I need to use the docking station to charge it My guess is no since it has its own battery connection but I can't really find much information about it There is a button on the front of the battery with a battery icon on it but it doesn't seem to make any difference I've tried both tapping it and holding it down

I have a small 750VA UPS which i use to safely shut down computer.The backup is about 5-8 minutes.We are having power shortage and thinking of battery backup but not much cash for inverters.My question is that do my UPS support those large battery(cars and bigger one like 120amp etc,don't have knowledge sorry).How much amp of battery do my UPS support?I calculated my computers' power consumption and it's around 230watt(with 9800GT,not sure)+36Watt monitor.So can i only get battery or my UPS too weak and need inverter?
 

A:Battery support for 750VA UPS

As long as it is 12V DC you can use any battery you want. There are a few things online about using a car battery for the battery backup. You may want to use a 'deep cycle' marine battery (although I don't know the availability of marine batteries in Nepal). There are probably other 'deep cycle' batteries other than marine.. Anyway, unless it is in a pretty well ventilated place you'll want to avoid unsealed batteries, which include most car batteries, because of hydrogen gas buildup (and perhaps H2S).

Depending on the battery you may (probably will) lose the ability to correctly monitor how much life you have left in the battery when running the electronics.

Hi all I'm not too technically minded so I'll explain this as best I can not HP player working, support laptop, media not working HP and hope somebody can help me out A few weeks ago my media player stopped working - it flashes onto the screen for a split HP laptop, media player not working, HP support not working second and then disappears or just doesn't respond at all Also the HP Advisor isn't working properly and keeps saying an error ocurred links don't work on the help section so I went to the HP site to try to get help there I opened one of these instant HP laptop, media player not working, HP support not working help chat boxes and a technician phoned me said he could help etc mentioned a one off charge and it took me half an hour to find out how much etc He had remote access to my laptop and was running scans that found several thousand problems and now I'm worried that he may have planted something in my pc HP laptop, media player not working, HP support not working When I told him I couldn't pay what he was asking he finished the call pretty quick and left me to it How do I fix my problem and how do I found out if he left something malicious on my pc I'm scared to do internet banking now -

Hi Guy,
I am using Windows XP Home SE. My "Help and Support" and "System Information". are not working. I had this problem once before and don't know where I received help. I believe that it occurs after using an anti virus or anti spyware. Anyway, if I can obtain the fix, I"ll be sure to write it down so I will know what to do about it. Hope that someone will help me. The "help & Support" when hitting the start-button does not work, no help to windows accessible ( not that its THAT important, it just anoyes me) .. i tried to download the winhlp32.exe from www.kellys-korner-xp.com , copied it into the windows folder .. but still does not work?

When I click on "Help and Support" in WinXP it acts
like it is going to load but it it does not. The same
thing happens when I click on "System Information".
I wonder if these programs need any of the services
that I may have disabled?

At some point in time, my help and support quit working in XP. did not notice until another programs help file did not work. Contacted their tech support and was directed to try XP help- nothing happened. Any ideas on how to get this back?

Last year I had a problem with not being able to access help and support. It would blink then nothing else would happen. I asked for help and got a great deal of support but for several reasons had to give up as nothing to date had worked. Eventually I found and ran a small program called MJsDiag.zip.
Lo and behold help and support was restored.
I should have posted the fix then but neglected to. Again, much thanks to those who tried to help last year and perhaps that program will aid someone else

Running XP home SP2. All updates applied. Help and Support service is running. RPC is running.

When I go to start>help and support nothing happens. The hour glass cursor is displayed for a short time. Pressing F1 gives me the same symptoms.

Good afternoon,

One more problems with my Windows. Help & Support not working. When I select H&S button in start menu- usually I see the CHM viewer with notification "H&S not supported by this version of Windows". But sometimes it open some randomized chapter of Help.
I checked the C://Windows /Help folder. There are 47.5 Mb, 30 folders, 348 files inside. Some of these files have .chm format and I can open it manually.
Do you have any ideas, except of reinstallation, SFC, repairing with inst.disk? Which service responsible for Help in Windows 7?
I can attach screenshots, but only on Russian language...

After getting rid of a rootkit infection ( per this sites instructions ) I seem to have lost the ability to access the windows XP help & support function! I get the help & Support panel but nothing else ( no icons, no topics, no search function ). Any suggestion on how to restore it? Thanks.

Check services (windows key+r ; type 'services' in the run prompt and press enter). Make sure that, if there is a help and support service, make sure it is in "automatic" mode and started

Didn't know what category to post this in. I open HP Support Assistant, and choose among the HP updates to download (bluetooth, BIOS, etc.).  I then click "download and install".  I then get the green checkmark next to "Connecting to HP servers", a green checkmark next to "checking available disc space", and a green checkmark next to "creating a restore point".  It then starts to supposedly download the first update, but the progress bar stays empty and never advances even if I leave it run for hours.  I end up having to click "stop", and then try again.  It also doesn't matter which update I try to download, I still get the same result.  Any ideas?

This is the second major issue with WIN& Pro. First my management console stopped working. A member created a shortcut to allow me to open up the console.

Now my Help & Support opens from the start menu but when a search help finds the topic but it opens then states it has stopped working!

Help! Will I have to perform a windows repair?

While it may not be as aggressive as repair, you can try running sfc /scannow from an elevated cmd prompt. Brink has a tutorial on how to open the prompt here

For me, the sfc is the quickest, easiest, and safest way to restore corrupt/missing files if only because it denies me the opportunity to make repair mistakes.

A:Working w/ IT support contractor-Win 7 s/w & w/c is not...?

Quite frankly, I'm not sure about some of the programs you are asking about. But, there is a slight learning curve, but Windows 7 is a much better OS than XP. Some of the features you are asking about are incorporated in Windows 7, just in a different location, some may require a different version and some appear to be drivers from the motherboard manufacturer, which you will have to check. For the most part the first thing you will recognize is Windows 7 will install the majority of the drivers you need itself. CCC will run fine, it will just require a different version than XP does and is easily obtainable from AMD. Any program that will not run on Widows 7 can be run in XP mode if you get Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate.

I don't believe you need to hire anyone to install Windows 7. It is pretty simple to do, but does require a clean install. These may help you install it. Clean Install Windows 7 and Clean Install Windows 7 from the Windows XP Desktop. Just be certain to back up all personal files before beginning.

I have had my HP Laptop for going on a year now, and I have had no issues with it or Windows 7. My problem is that the HP Support Assistant will not work properly and never has. I get message that I have an issue that it has detected, but it won't let me do anything after I respond. Would much appreciate some help please. Thanks in advance.:

Repair Disc - sfc /scannow - Error Checking - Diagnostic Tool

1. Error Checking- CD not needed
Start - my computer - right click local disk (C) - properties - Tools Tab -
Error checking section - Check now - check mark both boxes - Start -
This requires a restart to begin.
2. Start - Run - type - sfc /scannow - OK
Don't forget the space between c and /
You will need the Recovery CD if any thing is found wrong.
Not sure what CD would be needed for Windows 7
Their are 3 Install CD
Don't insert unless asked for.

Start - Control Panel - Backup and Restore - at the left top corner -
Create a System Repair Disc - It may say DVD but a CD works OK
With the Repair Disc in the tray, Restart your computer and be ready
to press any key when asked.
If it doesn't find and fix right off than click next and follow directions
from the list that should come up.

Hi Everyone! 16 Mar 2007

I run WinXP SP2 : and recently I installed IE7.
Now , when I open Help and Support , I get the Help and Support screen, but if I select the Index option, the left pane remains blank, and shows the small red cross (for href not found). The left pane shows normally for other options.
A further problem is that when any href in the right pane (eg 'Related topics') is clicked, nothing happens, except that the blurb is repainted.
The search option in the Help and Support fucntions, which is what I use now for any help that Windows deigns to give me.

Any advice: something has to be re-registered or something?

hi, as i open HP SA( aupport assistant), it's stuck in loading and uses 100% memory but never loads up. i  have tried uninstalling and installing the latest available version, and restarting every time i uninstall and after i install before runing the program. when i tried ending Hp support solutions framework,hp wmi service and hp message service from the task manager, the program does load up but none of its features and options seem to work.

As some of you already know, Microsoft is expected to jump over the DirectX 10.1 API, and to release the DirectX 11 instead. This has put quite some pressure on graphics manufacturers NVIDIA and AMD, as they need to prepare their hardware for the upcoming graphics interface. Also, AMD's DirectX 10.1-support seems rather ridiculous, as no such API will be released.

I suppose it's better that Nvidia get DX11 out the way and then go back to developing cards. As that's what they said for not doing DX10.1, they wanted to focus mainly on the GT200s instead, but then for the major nvidia enthusiasts, a lot got put off for not having DX10.1 in their newest card.

Hi, My HP G62 when first turned on has a window that says GFxUI HP support not working. I feel the computer has slowed down since this pops up when you sign on. Their doesn't seem to be a problem with the computer but it pops up everytime you turn it on. I don't no if it will be a problem in the future. Their are posts for this problem with Vista but not Window 7.

I was just about to post a question regarding this issue on a brand new HP desktop I just purchased.  I’ve had it for 5 days now (Windows 8.1), did all the updates, but no "Get Windows 10" app on my screen.  The fix seems to have worked perfectly.
Strange . . . I just UNSUBSCRIBED the reservation on a Windows 7.1 computer because I DIDN'T want it.  On this computer I couldn’t get it and I DO want it.

I have installed HP hotkey support on our new model of laptop (Probook 650G2). But it does not adjuct the brightnessvia the FN keys. We are using Windows 7 Enterprise. I have tried different versions of the hotkey support software but still wont work. The volume keys work fine. All the drivers are upto date with HP support assistant.

     Hello all. My HP Support assistant just upgraded to the new one, and is not working to find any updates at all. It keeps saying that it will search for drivers on -such and such- date, then afterwards I'll look, and it will have a new date, and says its never been updated. When i go to click on refresh, it says "Stopping Operating. Please Wait..."     When left alone for a minute it uses almost HALF of my computer resources, then I kill the process as it doesn't show its doing anything at all.     I tried re-installing the old one, only to have it get updated to the new one anyway... Any ideas would be greatly Appreciated. HP-DV6929WM. Intel Core i7-26630QM. 6 GB RAM. 750 GB Hard Drive.

When I opened my computer tonight it is just so slow nbsp I have made sure that all updates are installed like HP told me before nbsp I stopped hp assistant working has support have tried to open HP assistant but a message appears saying 'HP support hp support assistant has stopped working assistant has stopped working' nbsp the message goes on to say that it is going to end the programme and look for a solution but that is all - nothing nbsp I am now at the end of my tether with this computer nbsp it is only just three months old and it has been nothing but trouble nbsp I was even told to phone Microsoft by HP support for a solution last time nbsp Surely when you buy something it should work properly nbsp I would like to get my money back as this computer is not fit for purpose nbsp Anybody have any ideas as I will have to wait until Thursday to phone them as at work in the meantime nbsp

For some reason the plug and play usb support under windows xp no longer works on my system but I cannot find any way of reinstalling this component of the windows framework.

The problem is this when you plug any usb item into the computer it automatically assigns it as a Unknown Device with no driver details installed. When you go into update the driver with the exact driver provided by the manufacturer it just comes up with 'there is no information relating to the hardware'. If you try and do the automatic search including the online function it comes up with 'The best driver is already installed' which is silly cause there arn't any drivers installed.

Any Help will be greatly appreciated cause i'm out of ideas.

Try the device manager and uninstall all USB . Reboot, Xp should install them. If that doesn't work check in the Bios to see if the USB is enabled.
You don't indicate if you have SP2/3 installed. If you haven't , I would suggest you do.

Hello there,
Lately support center doesn't want to work, after some seconds a "the application stopped working. windows is looking for a possible solution" message pops up. needless to say, windows never found a solution. I tried uninstalling and doing a clean install of all the dell support suite several times with no luck, i don't have any antivirus on, except windows defender. 
I'm trying to run SC version 1.0.665.2 on win 8.1,
I wanted to run a scan because after installing win 10 trial version and going back to win 8.1 my workstation is acting pretty weird (and sloppy).

Hope someone out there can help!

Just purchased a toshiba satelite a-135 with Windows Vista Basic. Everything works great except when I require any action that requires the 'Windows Help and Support' menu to pop up.

When I click to get more information about a vista feature I get the following:

Internet Explorer cannot download / from windows
Internet Exporer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later​
Other than this the system works fine and my internet connection works great.

I am unable to display the complete content of support articles on the Microsoft support site with Firefox. Of course everything looks great under IE.Here's an example...http://support.microsoft.com/kb/279765/EN-US/At one time, I did not have any issues looking at support articles with Firefox on the MS support site.Any workarounds for this besides using IE when I am researching problems on MS?

Try installing the IE Tab extension.That way you can view IE within Firefox. Is the only way I can see the entire page of a Micr$oft article.

A message kept popping up saying there was a problem with Symantec CC - what I understand to be the system which runs Norton Antivirus. It told me I should uninstall and reinstall Norton Antivirus so I uninstalled in then couldn't reinstall. I tried to use system restore but the window comes up completly blank. I tried to use help and support but when I click on it nothing comes up. Windows media player won't work either - when I click on it a message saying internal error comes up. Help!!!!

Hi @rhl_yadav,  Thank you for your reply.  You stated if you reinstall Windows it works fine for a few days but then comes back. When it is working and before it fails, what changes? If you are unsure, please do a HP PCs - Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8) to get it working again. Although this should not affect your personal data, I do suggest doing a backup to ensure no data does get lost. Create a restore point that you can go back to.  HP PCs - Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8) Watch closely to see if you can determine what changed that caused this difficulty.  Good Luck!

Hello!

My help and support, and system information is not working anymore. When I click on those, nothing happens. There are no error messages, and simply nothing happens. I don't know when this error has occurred because I don't use those features often but it may have been a long back time since those problems occurred.I tried to look for it online but nothing has worked. My CD/RW is also not working even though windows recognizes it and it shows up in my computer. I wonder if they are all a related problem.

Any help would be great!

My specs are: Win XP Pro OEM SP3, intel pentium D 3 Ghz.
am running AVG free 9 and updated everyday

Hi, It can be a real problem removing HPSA if it's corrupted, but here's an alternative method you may want to try. Unless you still have the installer, download the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the page on the link below - the download links are towards the bottom of the page - and save the installer to your Downloads folder. http://h18021.www1.hp.com/helpandsupport/hp-support-assistant.html Next, if you don't have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip.  Please note, if you have a 64bit installation, download and install the .msi 64-bit x64 installer on the link below. http://www.7-zip.org/ Next, right click the HPSA installer you download earlier, select 7-Zip, select extract files and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted folder, right click on UninstallHPSA and select 'Run as Administrator' - you may well see no progress of this attempted uninstallation, so leave the notebook to idle for a good 10 minutes before restarting it. Open your Downloads folder and delete the ?extracted HPSA folder? so you are just left with the original installer you downloaded. Now, run the Microsoft 'Fixit' on the link below and use it to install the new version of HPSA. http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall Regards, DP-K

Hi All Toshiba Working Tech. with Support I just recently got my laptop back from Toshiba It had a shorted out the power supply After I bought a Working with Toshiba Tech. Support new identical power supply it got really hot and cracked the screen Working with Toshiba Tech. Support I had it on a cooler master stand with adjustable mm fans blowing at full speed underneath it I thought it was going Working with Toshiba Tech. Support to catch on fire so I moved it off the stand after unplugging it It was very hot and when I let go of it it got a small dent in the lid along with the cracked screen So I contacted Toshiba s main office to see if the would either replace or repair it I bought it in November of They sent a box to send it to them and requested I take off my thin silicone keyboard protector and send them the new power supply I just bought for about I packaged it up very carefully as it was spotless just like when I first bought it I did replace a hard drive that had failed prematurely with a Plextor MP Pro gb SSD and moved the Seagate gb hybrid as my secondary backup drive My credit card company matched the original warranty so it is about to expire next week When I got the laptop back Toshiba they replaced the screen but not the lid as I requested They also left out the rubber plugs that cover up the screws when they cleaned and reapplied the thermal paste on the CPU Do you have any suggestions on how I can get them to replace the lid and rubber plugs as well as reimburse me for the cost of the power supply I need to contact them Monday morning then call the bank to see if I can get this done before the warranty runs out on - - I have kept them updated since this first happened The Credit Card company did pay for a new hard drive but since I did the work myself they didn t pay any labor costs I hope to get a certificate so I can be reimbursed for the work I do when possible for friends amp family and non profit organizations I was a Internet Technician and have my Journeyman s Electronic Maintenance card that I went to collage and worked for before I was injured repeatedly on the job and became disabled Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated The dent is pretty small but it still bugs me as I made sure this laptop was kept in perfect condition as I use it as my lifeline to stay in touch with everyone and shop and pay my bills with it I am still able to live alone even though I am completely disabled with permanent back spine and nerve damage Thank You For Any Tips You maybe able to provide nbsp

This is a very recent problem with a laptop. Message along the lines of"Support Assistant has encountered a serious problem and has stopped working". Googled the quoted message, found so many posts on various forums with the same problem that I decided to come here to pose the question, "does anyone know if HP have come up with a reliable fix for this problem". Almost all posts on all forums come up with "uninstall and download new version", but it would appear that this solution rarely works.

Yes a well discussed topic, so I looked at the logical results.
 
Try changing the compatibility mode to windows 7 on the Hp support assistant application shortcut on the desktop and then right click and run as administrator and it "should work".
 
Others had the same issue and now its working fine.
 
Beyond this, it seems to be a Win 8.1 problem only (not Win 8), so follow their forum for updates -

I have my hp elitebook 850 G3 for one month now. When it was new i could use it for 9 hours on airplane mode but now fully charged only 4 hours on airplane mode. I want it to be 9 hours on airplane mode aigain. I have also noticed that my precentage is going down faster than before and I only use word and microsoft edge

I replaced the battery of my laptop ( Inspiron 17R SE 7720) with a new one.
But the Old one is 48 Wh and the new is 60wh.
When the laptop has started, this message appears " Warning, this battery is not recommended for this system use. It may only have limited features and non optimized performance. " .

I juse recently purchased a lenovo ideapad 100s and my laptop won't turn on unless i have it plugged it into the charger. But the second i unplug it the laptop dies becuase the battery is always it 0% even if i have it charging for hours .

Hi there,
I have a Dell Inspiron 15R 5521. Since a while now my laptop is given me messages explaining my battery has a fatal error and needs to be replaced. I have been searching for a different solution than simply replacing the battery/adapter and I've seen that a lot of people had to update their BIOS. I currently have BIOS A07. When I try to update using the driver I've gotten from your site this window pops up and tells me I have to plug in my battery and adapter. Both are plugged in but I can't seem to manage to start the update.

Now, for the BIOS update to run, it is required that the battery be connected and battery should contain a minimum charge of 10% and the adapter needs to be detected in BIOS.
Having said this, Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.

Hi all of you that are reading my post.Here where i live the electricity is not good that means that we have electricity for two hours
then it dissconect for five minutes or more.I have a pc with UPS(battery) and when i go for work i let my pc turned on downloading,but as we know when the electricity missing the UPS take pc turned on for 15-20minutes and then it turned off without command.And i want to know if Pc have the ability to know if its working with turned electricity or UPS and if it knows which are the components that make it(software or hardware).Please help me!!! After my friend's laptop wouldn't run on battery power OR charge the battery I tried many "fixes."
 
Shockingly none worked that I found.
 
Only one thing worked for me to my surprise.
 
A last ditch effort was to open up the laptop (sony pcg-81114L) and disconnect the cmos battery for a few minutes to reset the CMOS.
 
To my surprise, when powered on, the battery instantly showed it was charging AND when removing the power plug the battery POWERS the laptop now! (and I'd thought I was wasting my time.)
 
Worked with an off brand battery also.
 
Many times this has saved many computers that have odd "unsolvable" things wrong with them.
 
Surely someone else has done this also but I haven't seen it posted anywhere to my knowledge.

Since the Anniversary update, my Support Assistant no longer allows me to check for updates. It connects to server for a couple of minutes and then stops. I've reinstalled with no joy and can't see what the problem is. Any ideas anyone?

Hi all, please help !

I have just formatted and reinstalled XP and SP2. I need East Asian language support however it just won't work. I know how to set it up in control/panel regional settings, and I have done so, but it is not working. However it does all show up as being installed in there.

I have the option to show the langauge support in the taskbar ticked, but it is not showing in the taskbar or anywhere else! I was going to try uninstalling East Asian langauge support and reinstalling, but that ticked box is faded out so I can't do it. Thats the only strange thing, otherwise it all looks right and is installed.

Is there anyway I can get round this and still be able to type Korean in webpages?

HP Support Assistant on my new laptop has notified of a bios upgrade to F.19ap1 (SP76353). My laptop currently has F.19. When try to run upgrade it all seems to go ok and laptop reboots and does look like it is upgrading, however when finished its still on bios F.19 and keeps notifying of the bios upgrade available. Have tried several attempts to run the upgrade without any success. Please advise.

I was notified of three updates two days ago and proceeded to install them before upgrading to Windows 10.I was warned that several restarts might be necessary.Several restarts did occur but I now find that every time I try to launch HP Assistant it simply tells me that a restart is necessary. This must have occurred at least 10 times.I cannot get any further and assume the software has ceased to function properly.

Dears

Please assist on how to overcome with the issue of auto pop up of window's help and support. The moment this pop up appears key pads works as shortcut keys rather normal. E.g. if I type "r" run command happens and run Window opens. Similarly on pressing "L" key window's gets locked. And this pop up occurs in every 1 to 2 mins.

I enabled to Never check for updates but still same issue..

Please suggest.

I am running Windows XP Home Ed SP I am having huge problems with it I just bought this computer a month ago from a friend He didnt mention that he had any problems and now he has left the state Go figure right Anyway his factory warranty is no longer valid He had XP loaded when he bought the computer so no program cd came with it In other words I cannot reinstall XP Problems are this I cannot system restore to any date The Help amp Support option on the Start menu will not show up at all if I click on it The Search option on the Start menu will show up as an explorer the little dog will be on the left hand side of the screen but the options that should appear above the dogs head will not show up So I cannot perform a search because the entire screen stays white I cannot 'troubleshoot' any hard software on my computer I click on the button and nothing Working Help Update Not Win & Support, Troubleshoot, Search, happens Another funky thing my computer automatically accesses Windows Update and loads new updates but if I run IE and try to go to the 'Tools' - 'Windows Update' site It will load and say done on the bottom but nothing shows up on the screen It stays white How bizarre is that When I try to go to Microsoft Help and Support Website nothing will load The screen stays white When I try to access my hotmail account Nothing will load and the screen stays white I realize these are probably all stupid problems and easily fixed but really I am stumped I am not a computer genius I probably know just enough to break it really but if anyone can offer any suggestions I would -really- appreciate it I would rather not have to buy WinXP and reinstall And beyond doing that I cannot think of anything Search, Help & Support, Troubleshoot, Win Update Not Working else that will help I thought it might be a problem within the browser with the settings and defaults but that was a no-go I was running SP and I updated to SP hoping that would help and it didnt I downloaded Max Protector No Adware and I have various antivirus programs on the computer but nothing comes up Well thanks for your time If anyone has the time to -really- help me through this either reply here or at my email accnt sullensuccubus at hotmail com

A:Search, Help & Support, Troubleshoot, Win Update Not Working

You are in a bad situation without a recovery CD. Is this a name brand system (Dell, Compaq, HP, etc.)? You may want to contact the manufacturer to see if you can get a new CD. Your computer should have a MS key on the case to make your system legit, so getting a replacement CD shouldn't be a problem.

I have a new Dell Laptop and I keep getting an error stating Dell Support Center has quit working. I have a Inspirion N7110. Also should I run Windows Defender along with McAfee?

I juse recently purchased a lenovo ideapad 100s and my laptop won't turn on unless i have it plugged it into the charger. But the second i unplug it the laptop dies becuase the battery is always it 0% even if i have it charging for hours .

I bought this laptop (Compaq Presario 2596US) off a friend. Its got a 40GB eIDE hdd, and 768MB RAM.

The issue is the battery. He replaced it a year before I bought it, but it won't charge. Looking in the BIOS i see:

If the battery still has a charge left, you might try running a power efficiency diagnostic report to see what the health of the battery is.

You could also remove the battery and run the laptop on AC power only just to rule out a computer issue.

I put in my new battery; it has had more than 48 hours to charge, but when I turn on the notebook, it trys to start, and then just shuts down before it boots up at all.  Yes I used the same kind of battery, same brand, etc.

My Thinkpad T530 just stopped working on battery power and only powers/stays on when the AC adapter is connected. When it's connected and the battery is in though, the battery is detected and shows 100% charged. The second I unplug the AC adapter, the computer will cut off and it only turns on when the power is connected. Has anyone else experienced or remedied this issue? Thanks.

I have a Toshiba A75 laptop. My battery had died and I got a new one but the laptop wont work on battery. It works on the AC adaptor. I got replacement batteries twice but same result. I got the laptop checked by a repair company and they say the motherboard is ok. Is there a possibility that the battery is not working due to software / drivers issue? When I put in the battery, it shows the charging light and charges to 100% but as soon as the power goes, the computer goes out.

To whomever cares I did call to get support as the online chat left me confused I used a microsoft website - nbsp and called this number - - - nbsp The individuals that I talked to from phone number on August around am PST said that they couldn t help me unless I pay I thought it a scam and asked for the supervisor I waited on the phone for a while and when the ther line picked up no one would answer me and then they just hung up nbsp You should be wary of your employees or contractors as I believe they are doing something illegal nd as that became more and more apparent to me that is when I was hung up on nbsp Whatever I will figure out my own stuff ill people working Microsoft their with support think I intentions department in has and when the option arises to go MAC I will run not walk in that direction And maybe that is what you want who knows Danielle

I bought the upgrade version of Vista Ultimate last April, and upgraded it off of my existing BETA version of vista that was already on my computer. Everything so far works, but for the help/support function. When you buy the upgrade, does it use the roots of the original operating system already installed? If this is true then there must be other things that are still in 'beta form' (Which sucks because I freakin paid for the real thing)

Long story as short as possible.
Just upgraded to full version Windows 10. In the previous 2 tech builds IE stopped working. Error
“ This page cannot be displayed “
Microsoft x 3 Techs 5 hours of remote assistance could not resolve the issue. I had no terminate the connection as was taking too long. Their final suggestion was that they feel there must be some (add-ons) preventing IE from starting.
 
I cannot cover all they did here over 5 hours
However, here are some key areas of trouble shooting done
 
Remediation
Reset Winsock and Network Settings
Reset Proxy Settings
Created another admin account (IE did not run with different user)
Removed Kaspersky Security
Internet options > advanced > restore default > Reset IE settings
All IE add-ons have been disabled within IE settings
Msconfig > turned off all services
 
Has anyone else had an issue like this? I’ve just created and attached a diagnostics scan as this is beyond me level.

Hello Everyone I'm new here and I've been trying at this quot Graphics quot stuff for about a week now reading forum after forum and visiting link after link I wanted to play a game but the OpenGL was only version and required After tons of research I realized that I needed to update my drivers I tried using NVidia and after tons and tons of errors that didn't work After more research I figured out that my Display Adapters is Intel G G Express Chipset Family so I tried downloading an Intel not support Chipset version not working...Does my windows. Intel 4 of Media Accelerator which would give me OpenGL but when I tried to use Setup exe I would get quot This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software quot so after MORE research I tried to use Device Manager gt Display adapters gt Upgrade Driver Software gt Install Manually gt Let Me pick gt Have Disk Intel 4 Chipset not working...Does not support my version of windows. gt and then i used the quot inf folder quot But then it says quot The driver selected for this device does not support this version of windows quot So needless to say I'm stuck My computer is Windows Home Premium x My Vendor I D is x and my Device I D is x C what can I do to make this work Is there something I have to buy I hope someone can help because I've been at this for a while

It might not support OpenGL 2.0... I'm not really sure, the wording is weird.
You might also try to run in Vista SP2 compatibility mode. Because, as I see, this chipset is pretty old (2007) and the last drivers for the G31/G33 were for Vista. Vista drivers works with Windows 7. (oh and, try compatibility mode with the .exe)

Try it like that. And give us feedback

Duuuuuuurp. The driver does exist for Windows 7. Just be sure to pick the right version for your oprating system. What you are probably trying to do is that you are trying to install the 32-bit driver for 64-bit Windows.

I am using XP Pro SP Trying to proceed with the POS registry hack I created a new key called PosReady in HKEY LOCAL MACHINE SYSTEM WPA and added a new DWORD The DWORD name by default is New Value I changed the value setting from to Not Working Solved: Extend Registry Hack Support to I m not seeing any new updates on the MS Updates site I figured I must have done something wrong so I downloaded the reg hack so I could just execute the file yet when I execute the file I get an error message stating that it can t import quot All data was not succesfully written to the reg Some keys are open by the system or other resources quot I figured I should try to delete the key that I previously made and then attempt executing the reg hack file but I am unable to delete the PosReady key that I made even when I m logged in as the system admin nbsp

2. Double-click a category in the category tree, and then click an item to display its information in the details pane.

When I click System Information , nothing happens except that note sigh ( ...) apears repeatedly. Please see the attachment also. I have no idea what went wrong. Any suggestions , Please!!??

I have a new battery. The laptop is g560 working fine on AC adapter without battery in. When I put  the battery in the laptop starts draing the battery without charging. May be it will work if I uninstl the ACPI...thing  from windows 7 the problem is that impossible to turn on the machine with the empty battery  and the AC plugged in. Evry time switching on it tries to boot on battery ignoring the AC adaptor. I have no idea if the battery is charging when the laptop is turned off.

Hi

Me and my sister have the same laptop with windows 7 ultimate 32bit running on each one. The problem is my sisters laptop is not detecting the laptop battery charger when inserted. Her battery and charger works fine as I tested them on my laptop and both fully functional and even my own battery and charger does not work on her laptop.

When the charger is plugged in no message or charging icon comes up, just the normal battery icon. I'm pretty sure there is something wrong with the laptop.

any help please?

Hello slizza and welcome to Seven Forums.

Could you post some additional information about the laptop like make and model? Sometimes a computer manufacturer installs their own software that controls how a machine will work. Just as an example, on a Sony Vaio they have what's called Vaio Care. This software can override the built in Windows 7 power plan settings.

In the meantime, you could compare the power plan settings on your laptop to the settings on your sister's laptop and make sure they're the same. You could also run a power diagnostics efficienty report to see if your sister's machine is showing any issues.

You could also open Device Manager and see if there are any warning symbols for the battery. This could indicate a driver issue.

Can someone please help
I recently bought a new charger cable for my hp compaq 6720s and since then my battery wont charge and when it is plugged in the mains (the only way the laptop works) the mouse on my laptop doesn't work either, i've also tried using an external mouse but that doesn't work also. is it the charger i bought which is faulty or the battery, or even just the laptop itself?

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

There could be a problem internally, with your laptop such as the motherboard, causing both the keyboard and battery problem.

1.) Have you tried removing the laptop battery, and testing it with just the adapter plugged in to see if it still works without powering down? If it powers down while plugged in-with the battery removed, there is a problem with the computer itself or the power adapter.

2.) When you say your are using an external mouse, is it a corded mouse or is it wireless? (It is best to swap with a wired mouse instead of a wireless for troubleshooting purposes)

Hi guys, I have a Tecra A10 0n Win 7 x64 Pro and has been working perfect for ages, all of a sudden the laptop went into hibernation and will now only boot up with AC plugged in.

The battery is fine as I have tried it on a different laptop without issue.

When I try to boot laptop without AC connected it loads to the Toshiba splash screen for a couple of seconds then dies.

Has anyone else had this or have an idea what the issue could be. Latest BIOS has been on for a while and all correct drivers are installed.

Laptop runs perfect with AC connected but tries to hibernate as soon as AC disconnects.

Could it be that the laptop cannot take power from the battery for longer than a couple of seconds?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

For me it sounds like the battery charge level is very low and that the power management of the Win OS set the notebook to hibernation mode due to charging level.

Possibly the notebook does not charge the battery properly.
If you said that the battery is OK (don?t know how you test this) then there must be a issue with the battery charging system. This means that the motherboard is not OK.

However, in your case I would test the notebook with a new battery to be 100% sure that this issue is not related to a faulty battery.

Hello guys nbsp I have a recognized, or Battery A/C. not without working charging problem with my ProBook for last couple days it won't run Battery recognized, not charging or working without A/C. or charge the battery Windows shows the battery it can also read its capacity with nbsp powercfg -energy all it says is charging but the percentage never moves and if I remove my A C cable notebook shuts down nbsp nbsp What I did as a troubleshoot nbsp Different battery - Doesn't work Same battery in a different notebook G - It works Removing battery drivers from windows and re-installing the battery - Doesn't work Checking the cable connectors on a motherboard - All seems to be fine Changing -PIN cable of a battery - Doesn't work Flashing Updating BIOS - Doesn't work nbsp I've heard read there would be a screw or something which will dock lock the battery in order to work but I can't locate it myself if it even exist nbsp nbsp My very last thought on this would be a matherboard failure but I can't be sure as battery is recognized by windows just fine nbsp What should I try next nbsp Thanks

Hi I recently had a new motherboard and lcd screen installed on my Dell inspiron After the tech guy installed the new reconditioned parts and left I went to move my laptop and the screen went black upon unplugging it I went into the bios and made sure that the settings were up on brightness on battery and it was all the way up If I plug it back in it is fine I called the tech that had just left my home and he said that due to him already closing that ticket I had to call Dell and open another The working screen power. not LCD battery on issue was that I was out of warranty that day this was his rd trip due to a faulty motherboard twice I explained to Dell this was an issue that only happened after the guy changed the lcd screen and it never happened before He told me I needed a new battery I knew mine was old but it had a little life in it i knew this wasn t the problem So I had to order a new battery and it obviously didn t fix the problem I called Dell back and they refused to help me due to being out of warranty I again exclaimed that it was due to the LCD screen not working on battery power. issue when I was under warranty He refused to help this was a manager told me I needed to ship my laptop to them to fix and a low cost of Anyway is there any other issue LCD screen not working on battery power. you could think of that could cause the lcd to not work on battery power yet be fine on ac power Also on battery power everything else works so I know it isn t everything effected Thanks in advance nbsp

Hello HPForums,I realized the battery had troubles when I unplugged my laptop to take it to the bathroom (haha). I turned off inmediately. So I checked for the battery to be well connected and it was OK. When I removed it, i found this gummy yellow substance that smells sweet on one of the sides. It was both in the battery and on the slot.(See photo attached).  Battery is PI06 manufactured on 2013. The battery doesn't work but the computer do knows it is plugged in. Is there a fix? And what was the cause of this leak? I handle my computer really carefully and don't leave it plugged often. Thanks!f

Hi guys.I've search the forum but I can't find anything relevant.I don't like leaving my laptop on charge all the time and I sometimes forget to switch the battery charger on and Windows shuts down.Now in Control Panel - Sounds you can set various sounds for various operations I made my own Chargebattery.wav and enabled it for Critical Battery Alarm and Low Battery Alarm and they both test ok. When the battery gets low it doesn't play the wave file. It does show the low battery tooltip in the systray but you can easily miss that.Does anyone know why it doesn't sound on a low battery or am I missing something in the sound settings?I've downloaded Battery Meter Gadget but thats only a visual warning so you would have to have the sidebar on top all the time plus it doesn't play any sounds?Cheers.

Does no one have any comments on this?I made the Chargebattery.wav with 2nd Speech Center as the default Windows Battery Low.wav and Windows Battery Critical.wav are just bleeps mine says your battery needs charging. I also made a Trash.wav to empty the recycle bin that says your recycle bin has been emptied and that works great. If anyone wants these wav file let me know?The Battery Meter does play a few bleeps which is better than nothing.I put back the default Battery Low.wav and Windows Battery Critical.wav but Battery Meter still played the beeps. I removed Battery Meter and tried it again and it still didn't play the default sounds it just shows the yellow message at 10 minutes and the red one at 6 minutes so this system for playing sounds is obviously crap.

Well I posted this thread a week ago and 80 users have read it but no one has made a comment.

As anyone any suggestions to try?

My external battery is not working.  I get the following errors when I start my computer. 1. Power Manager Guage - An error occurred while loading this resource.2. There was a problem laodgin (x86)\Thinkpad\Utilities\PWMTR64V.dll A dynamic link library (DLL) initalizaiton routine failed. Under Lenovo Settings - Power manger it says my second battery is in bad condition.  I bought a new battery and it still displays this message. Under battery gague reset it says 90% remaining for the second batery.  I'm running windows 10 / 64bit and have done all the lenovo updates and attempted to reinstall the related driver.

Hi Dan, Do you have a setup.exe file located in the c:\program files\Lenovo\settingsdependency\power  folder, and if so, can you try running that and see if the problem goes away?     I should add, that it might just say Setup, and not actually say Setup.exe depending on your view settings, but run it anyway.

Hi,

I have Dell Ispiron 15 3542 and I am surprised that my laptop has been switched off directly even though the battery is 100% charged and even the charging icon is displaying at task bar when the charger is switched on. But red light for low battery goes on blinking and when the power cord is removed it switches off and if switched on the power cord a message appears as "Your battery has met with parmanent failure and needs to be replaced and press F1 to continue and press F2 for setup utility" 

Please help with the issues

A:Lap top not working even the battery is fully charged

I'd suggest you check Battery's status and health in the Battery Meter App. Please right click battery icon at taskbar, and then click on battery health. It should say Your Battery Is Performing Normally, if it say anything else then you most likely need a new one. Secondly, check battery status, if there's a checkmark in box by Enable Dell Extended Battery Life then uncheck it and restart computer.

The battery is not working at all it keep changing but its 0% nothing when i insert it the small LED that is beside the power change cable start to blink red colour then blue red then blue but when i remove the battery nothing its just blue there is no any red blinking
