Q: warranty isue

I extended my warranty but warranty was tagged with another serial no of laptop and my laptop is out of warranty. For more details, I have marked a mail also and locked a case [Personal Information Removed] in customer care. Its a fraud by HP/partners. Please check and suggest on priority.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

Hello.

Recently I recieved by mail my brother's laptop to fix,since I`m the "smart" guy inthe family everyone is pushing me with IT or Electronic choirs...anyway, it`s not why I`m here. The laptop has a broken screen, I tried to attach the laptop to another monitor via VGA but didn`t wor, no image at all. So I`m wondering if the mainboard is bustedm since I don`t know if I should order a new display for it or just toss it in the garbage can. The colored leds are on when I start it, no booting sound, but the HDD is working, so is the dvd-rw, I mean it takes commands, all the buttons work, I mean restart and power.is there a chance that the mainboard is bustend and I still have power on cpu/optical device/storage?

hello guys i got some problems when i play wow i got some huge lagg spike. sometime i run on 15fps on ultra settings?? and it dont seem to be my gpu because its only running at 25% with 50? both

My wife's laptop is acting crazy. It's been working fine, then the other night the screen starting blinking and became unreadable. It would just blink a ton and flash on and off. She took it in the next day to her work to the tech guys there and it worked fine. Today the same issue. I was able to get it to start in Safe Mode and it works just fine. Trying to start in regular mode it starts out just fine, then goes to blinking/flashing, etc.

Any ideas? Sorry I can't give more details, but that is as good a description as I can give!

Hello, i have tried running combifix but it always blue screens this particular laptop, also it seems to have created a new combo folder in root that contain copy of root, see attached.The question is can deleted this combifix dir?cheers

Cant get internet connectivity. My NIS is working. Have a valid Ip but Wont connect in firefox or IE7. UNLESS i boot in safe mode. Tried wireless, local, and even my BB and all the same. Valid (but different IP) address and no online connectivity.

Most likely a 3rd party firewall (internet security) issue. If "NIS" is Norton Internet Security I'm guessing that you are right about it working. It's keeping you perfectly safe from the big bad internet.

I was trying to forward ports for some programs using a http://portforward.com guide.

...it says, but 10.0.0.138 doesnt work, I did search a bit with google about it but found nothing certain.
The actuall question is: "How do I find my router's IP adress?[to get the router admin box]"

I have installed a wireless card onto my PC, the card sees the network tells me I have connection, but IE does not connect.

I have cleared DNS cache, repaired IP/TCP Winsock. And

IPCONFIG shows that I have no default gateway.

Any ideas?

A:[SOLVED] Suspect DNS Isue with Vista

Your Default Gateway is your Router. Unplug the power plug to the Modem and the Router. Plug the power into just the Modem (unless you have a modem/router combo) When all the lights come up, plug in the power to the Router (unless combo of course) Go to Start/Search and type inetcpl.cpl and press enter/Connections/LAN Settings. Make sure all the boxes are unchecked. Now go to Start/Search and type ncpa.cpl and press enter. Right click the Local Area connection/Properties scroll down to Internet Protocol IPV4 (TCP-IP)/Properties. Make sure Obtain an IP Address and DNS Server Address Automatically are both checked. Now go to Start/Search and type CMD right click the Command Prompt link in the Search Results and choose Run As Administrator. IN the Command Prompt type ipconfig /release and press enter. the IP Address changes to 0.0.0.0 Now type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter. Now type ipconfig /renew. Now type ipconfig /all. You should have a new IP address try it again. If you still cannot connect please include the text output of your ipconfig /all in your next post

Hello my name is Gringoyle Let me start from the very begining I was play Ever Quest when my isue 7 boot Windows safe key board started acting Windows 7 safe boot isue up i found that it was my mouse when my mouce was in movement the keyboard was Windows 7 safe boot isue inop so if was to use the W A D S keys to navigate than use the mouce to move the cursor i would stop Windows 7 safe boot isue movment So I decided to test the mouce in safe mode I and made a big mistake by using msconfig to do so Well it started an endless loop of chrashing when windows would boot causing the loop to start over I can however use F still which i did to to try and repair my system it recommended that I use the recovery that had failed I than used the F last knowen good configuration option to start windows and I am running again I than when to change the settings in msconfig i had made but i am unable to When in msconfig under the general tab the quot Selective Startup quot is selected under the boot tab the options are normal safe mode is not selected However if I select the Normal Startup option under the general tab the safe mode box becomes check under the boot tab and if I uncheck the safe boot box the Selective Startup option is than selected again under the general tab And my dang mouce is still causing the keyboard to be inop when in use Thank for any advice you fellas can offer me Gringoyle

sir service engineer told me that your ram socket burns due to heat or power fluctuation  and so we have to change your motherboard for that and this is not covered in your warranty. i have adp warranty .So can i arugu with them in these conditions  ?Is warranty doesnot cover issue due to power fluctuation , which cover accidental protection, too ?

As the title suggests - my invoice specifically says 3yrs warranty was purchased with my M3800 in November 2014. I'm now showing as out of warranty after 2yrs
I'm having issues with a screen that was replaced in May/June 2016 and would like a replacement as I believe the unit is faulty. Please can you get in touch to resolve.

So, my HP Envy x360 has a screen problem that I described in an earlier post, but the situation that I am in currently is that around February, I contacted HP to get a box to send my laptop back and get it repaired in. Now, I couldn't send it back at the time because I needed it every day for classes. So, I decided to wait until the end of the school year, not thinking that my warranty expires in April . Is it still possible for me to send my laptop back to be repaired free of charge? Thanks!

How can I update my graphis card without voiding my warranty

Help please. HP Support Assistant changed overnight and now shows Warranty Expired and date Dec 2015 when I bought the PC. Expiry date should be 3 December 2016.Have sent HP Warranty Dispute form and evidence of purchase (twice). No response. Have used Assistant Agent twice and was very pleased with excellent service. Because warranty is out of date, according to HP, contact with them is limited and try as I can I have been unable to get a phone call through to customer service (its always busy!). I have even contacted HP  Head Office who gave me the same phone number and a complaints e- mail address which turned out to be in South America! Message on HP Support Assistant  received today asks me to continue  warranty by paying for 2 year cover. Have paid for this today and hope this will sort situation. Meanwhile who can I e mail at HP in the UK to resolve this?

Hi I bought a display unit of AiO at the Singapore COMEX 2016 1 week ago. Sales rep told me there's on site 3 years warranty given by HP but when I set up the unit and there was a pop up warranty indicating the warranty period only covers 1 year.And the registration was done by the retailer when the pc was put on display in the event. Please advise what I can do to obtain the 3 years revised status? System is a dell studio xps 435mt/ os 7 premium/ I7 CPU/ 8 gigs of ram/ ati video card just replaced 3 months ago/ hitachi deskstar 500g hd/power supply delta 360w.

Had no error messages. Was running fine, it had a few glitches but nothing serious. I attempted to power up the system but nothing , it has power the green light is on for the power supply.. I get one amber light when i press the power button on front panel, and one flicker of the red light on the video card.

This system is only 2 years old. The warranty expired on it's second birthday, which was the day after the warranty ran out.

Warranty is 1 year from first retail sale. Either the seller sold you a laptop previously sold or it sat on his shelf for a long time. Keep the receipt as you may need it to prove when you bought it. The date in the HP system is automatically generated based on wholesale delivery plus an average shelf time.

Hi! I have a quick question, my laptop came with a mechanical hard disk which i would like to replace with a solid state.The problem is that there is a sticker saying "Warranty void if label tampered with or removed" covering one of the screws. The end date of warranty is until Jul 2017. What i should do? Why HP is doing this really? I never owned a laptop which was impossible to upgrade the ram or the hdd...

I purchased a Dell Inspiron 17 7778 laptop last week. But the service warranty information is incorrect on Dell support web page. The ship date is January 01, 0001, the country is unknown and the warranty service is missing. Please fix it.

If this is the same system you asked about in your other threads, it was purchased outside Dell's sales channel in a country where Dell has no corporate presence --  all service, support and information comes from your seller.  
From the sound of it, the system either has a bogus service tag or was purchased as greymarket goods.

If the battery is original to the system, it's between 4 and 5 years old - and likely well past its design life.  A "refurbished" system of that model is not the same as a "refurbished" new system - was it purchased direct from Dell, or elsewhere?

contact who you purchased it from and see what they can do. they should have records of the transaction. if you purchased it with a charge card you could contact them also for any record of the purchase.

I posted a msg regarding a possible IRQ problem and missing internet connection.  Received a PM to call a number, did so and worked with a person from Skyfill who told me my warranty was expired.  My computer shows that I have 6 months left but the help person disputed that; so I paid for assistance to get computer internet connection fixed.   How do I dispute the warranty coverage?

Hi, I purchased a brand new Lenovo Edge 2 - 1580 Laptop from Bestbuy while I was at West Palm Beach, Florida, USA. The Serial Number of the Laptop is R90HPBVZ and Model Number is 80QF0004US. I travelled back to India. Everything went on fine until one day, when I heard a craking sound on the hinges while I was closing my laptop. Two screws came out broken. The touch panel got removed from the back panel and is almost hanging. The covers that are over the hinge region came out. Currently, the laptop is working fine, yet I cannot close the laptop. Kindly find attached photos for immediate reference.????I am currently in Chennai, India. When I check for the warranty status of my laptop, I am told that the country is unknown, the ship date is January 01, 0001, and  start and end date are empty. See screenshot below.
I bought it used at an online auction, but think that it might still be under warranty. How can I find out if it is?

Hi, I can not understand to what date will the warranty valid in my notebook just purchased in Italy.
The seller tell me that it be covered only for two years.
Then, when I registered the product on the HP website, entering the serial number, is covered up to 15-Apr-2019, thus three years..

Hello Seven Forum,
Had a PC built last year and is still under warranty. Need to take back as their is Hardware problems. Found this out doing a Memory Diagnostic Test. The question I wish to ask is that I have 2 internal hardrives and 1 external drive. 1xSSD & 1X mechanical HD inside. I have backedup all my documents,music and photos on the external HD but what else do I need to do as I am not comfortable handing over my PC with other stuff such as personal contacts and emails. Hope someone can help.

Are you worried about actually losing something or are you worried about someone snooping into your contacts and emails when you'd rather they didn't?

Your email and contacts are likely on your C drive. You could back them up as well. Also bookmarks. Where that stuff is depends on what browser and email you use.

You could actually remove any non-operating system drives if necessary---unless that might somehow cause a warranty issue.

I can understand your reluctance. I'd probably remove hard drives when possible, even if I had the stuff backed up.

Hello,

I have a new Acer mini desktop which I use as an HTPC running Win 8.
I just bought it a week ago and I still haven't registered it for mafucaturer's warranty coverage because I have to wait until the store warranty is over (otherwise they won't accept the item for return or exchange if it is registered to Manufacturer).
Anyways, it has 4 RAM slots (16GB max RAM) and only 2 so far are used (4+4GBs). If I added 2 more RAM cards to it (upgrade RAM myself), would it void the manufacturers 1 year warranty?

Desktop purchased with 3yr warranty; back 3 times for repair. On 4th occasion it is returned unrepaired with a note that warranty does not cover it.  There should be a replacement machine of serviceable quality or a refund for both the machine and the warranty fee.  What sort of customer service is HP providing?  I will not be purchasing HP again if this what is on offer, and advising anybody else I speak to that they should avoid this company.

I am trying to gather the warranty information on quite a few of our companies HP thin clients.I have a list of all the serial numbers I am looking to gather information on, but not the product numbers.These thin clients are spread out through 11 seperate locations and getting all the product numbers for these would be quite un-pleasant.I found an area in HP support to get the warranty information i desire but it requires both S/N and P/N.Is there another area that would only require the S/N?  This would save me much time and frustration. Thanks

Hello everyone, yesterday I brought a new HP laptop and I wish to install a SSD with a caddy, replacing the DVD reader.  My question is, if I do this replacement, the warranty will be invalidate? My 15" Acer Chromebook CB5-571 just died a couple of weeks past the warranty deadline. It was wonky when I first got it from the Play Store but the updates seemed to help. Now it just died and won't start. Where can we go for recompense on these defective machines? I'm not willing to shell out around 1/3 of the purchase price for a battery when I'm not sure that's the issue. Hello, I had a failing hard drive that was replaced in warranty just a couple of days ago. However the hard drive that was installed on my computer is not a new one - CrystalDiskInfo reports it has been turned on 450 times. Is that a normal policy to send refurbished hardware as replacements?  Also, I've noticed the hard drive does an unfamiliar clicking sound when beign used. (and since it's the same hard drive as I've had before, I assume the usual working sound should be the time, which it isn't)Check disk and CrystalDiskInfo don't show any errors though, so I'm not sure if it's a bad sign or not? I will definitely take it to the authorized repair shop that did the HDD replacement but I still thought I'd ask here. Thanks in advance.

Got a samsung nc10 netbook that has been bsod for a couple of days It originally had XP on but i installed win 7 a couple of weeks ago. Im almsot certain it is a hardware problem so im sending it back to samsung for 'repairs' however, will they void the warranty or blame the fact that ive put win 7 on it as the cause? I dont have a win7 COA on the base as its stuck to the side of my pc so there is only the XP COA on netbook.

Hello, asking about a ThinkPad Yoga bought in EU. - Does removing the sticker with serial number on the back (base cover) void the warranty? Mine started to peel off and I want to remove it, - Does succesfully changing the HDD by the customer somehow might void the warranty in the future? I upgraded it already and now wondering whether to keep the old HDD to be able to return things in "initial condition" if need arises. Please advise.

Yes, removing the sticker at the back side of the system will void the warranty.
 
But replacing the HDD will not void the system warranty, but the replaced parts will not come under warranty, and if there is any mishandling while replacing HDD then the system won?t cover under warranty.
 
If user makes any physical damage to the system while replacing the parts will not cover under warranty, if the user is having technical knowledge on that then there won't be any issue.

Your warranty is one year from retail purchase. HP puts in a placeholder date based on when the laptop was made but sometimes they sit on the shelf for a while. If you actually have a warranty problem it will be 1 year from purchase. Keep your proof of purchase documents and register your laptop with HP.

Howdy, Is it possible to get HP to fix a broken laptop (spillage has broken the keyboard) out of the laptops warranty? Failing that, are there any repair shops licensed/recommended by HP in the UK? Thanks

Is the damage confined to the keyboard? That is not expensive or difficult and just about any computer shop should be able to handle it and it is even possible in many cases to do it yourself.  Please let us know if you want to try replacement. i have purchsed a SPECTRE laptop in USA during May16 and now planing to proceed to INDIA in september16.Is trnsfer of Warranty requered to be transfered to INDIA ?If so please let me know the process in detail.Thanks
