Laptop goes to shutdown screen abruptly

Q: Laptop goes to shutdown screen abruptly

Hi, I'm new to this site, as to any forums in general, but I was wondering if someone would help me identify what's wrong with my laptop.
It's been used for at least two good years and 've been working better or worse, I'm currently running W8, I've cleaned it many times and it isn't overheating (as far as I can tell by checking the fan.
The problem is that after an hour or so of use, it just goes to the Shutting down... screen. Sometimes it shuts down during a game, sometimes during a video or if I wait long enough it'll shut down on the desktop without any apps running.
It's really frustrating and weird, there are no errors or any indications as to why it shuts down. Happened about 20 times for the past few days. Ideas?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The laptops thermal compound has probably gone bad and hardened... This causes the motherboard to trigger its "overheating" circuit, even though it doesn't seem that hot

I purchased this computer for my daughter to use for communication. She's 15 and non-verbal so I need to resolve this quickly for her. This laptop is only 7 months old and she's only used it about an hour a week plus it stays on a computer stand and doesn't get moved about so it should not be having ANY problems. I'm so upset about this.Anyway the computer made a glitch in sound and shut down even though the battery was fully charged. Now it won't turn on at all. When I hit the power button the LED just blinks. The adapter seems to be working fine. I did the hard restart, removing the battery and holding the power button. It didn't work.

I have a very strange kind of problem....

whenever i press on shutdown, my computer gets shutdown abruptly at once and restarts on its own and it starts checking c: drive for any problem.

thought for viruses but on scanning didn't found any virus, yeah i noticed that whenever i join usb to my computer and double click there it opens in another window and my antivirus shows a virus for that....on healing it goes away but if i again double click it virus resumes

My os: Microsoft windows XP v2002 SP2
Intel R celeron 2.93Gh
AVG 7.5 antivirus

Any help would be appreciated.....

Last night chkdsk tried to fix errors on C: on startup after I restarted my laptop. It was taking too long so I went to sleep, but in the morning, I had trouble turning the laptop on. When it did, the Automatic startup repair ran. Now the problem is that my laptop shuts down abruptly while startup repair is running. I'm not really sure if the repair finished running but, it was still saying that it was fixing errors. Everytime I turn it on the same thing happens. I can't use the windows 8 installation ISO in my usb because I can't set it to boot using the usb and I need to change my settings first to access the bios.

I have all settings configured for laptop to hibernate if the battery reaches critical level, but laptop just lets it go to absolute zero without any warnings and actions and then abrupt shut down happens, like if you take the power plug out when using a regular PC. This is my power settings:
I have hibernation enabled and hiberfil.sys (5.9GB) is present on my C drive.

A:Laptop shuts down abruptly instead of hibernating at 5% battery?

Is hibernate working correctly when you click it from the Shut Down choices on Start Menu?

Will it time out correctly if you set it to 2 minutes and Sleep to 1 minute to test it in Power Options?

If Hibernate otherwise works correctly I would restore default plan for your chosen plan to see if that helps.

I would also try Balanced Plan which seems to work better as I've never seen problems with it before while we see problems with High Performance.

The monitor is a Viewsonic E771, recently acquired used. It usually works fine. But sometimes, for no apparent reason, the screen image suddenly stretches horizontally (I think about 30 percent), stretching the image wide and hiding the edges. The vertical dimension stays the same. The on-screen controls work normally but changing width with them has no effect. Sometimes, but not always, shutting down and restarting right away gets me back to normal. Sometimes it seems to need a longer time out. I thought of heat as a factor (ambient temps are about 65-90) but I'm not really seeing a correlation. The person I got it from (as a gift) says it never did this before.

Is the monitor failing? Is it something weird with the driver?
Please advise.

So I was watching netflix and I got the warning that I had ~5 minutes to shut down the computer or it would shut down itself so that it could update itself. I got done closing things and shut it down by hitting the power button and holding it down.  Next I turned the laptop back on and it started to update so I zoned out of it and watched something on my phone. While doing so I noticed some type of an error updating message and did not touch is because last time this happened it just rebooted without the update. However instead it turned itself off and did not turn back on. I tried hitting the power buitton to turn it back on and that did not work. I also tried the suggestions I found on this support website such as taking out the battery pack and unplugging the AC adapter for the power source.

I am using Dell Studio laptop and worked fine for 1.5 years but suddenly one day when I connect my portable hard disk / pen drive after the it is turned on, system got powered off abruptly. After that system monitor is not getting switched on but turn on/off button led is glowing.

What would be the problem?
Please someone suggest me the solution.

A:Dell Studio laptop got switched off abruptly and no longer turns on

Does the laptop sound like it is powering up OK? e.g. can you near the CPU fan running, if you listen closely underneath can you hear the hard disk working?

What exactly happens when you press the power button?
Do you see the display light up slightly, but nothing show?

My laptop has been doing this for a while, whenever I go to shut down my laptop from start menu the screen goes black but the fans stay on and the keyboard lights still glow (I have an Alienware with the glowing keyboard). Only when I hold down the manual switch does it shut down all the way.

This presents a bigger problem recently because when I install updates and then restart my computer, I must shut it down manually and on startup I must open in safe mode and then restore my computer to a point before I installed windows updates. (I am not completely sure that the fact I have to turn off the computer manually is the reason that my computer is telling me to restore to a point before I install updates, just to be clear.)

Thanks for the help.

Is this the original factory preinstall which most tech enthusiasts won't run, preferring to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to enjoy native Win7 performance?

Stick with the tools and methods given and you'll get and keep a perfect install.

In your case I'd first Run Built-In Diagnostics for Your Dell Computer | Dell US from it's partition to see if it will boot and run, give you a report on your hardware. If so then during the booted reinstall you'd want to leave the OEM Diagnostics partition but delete all others using the Drive Options in Steps 7 and 8 of Clean Install Windows 7 to create and Format New.

Otherwise work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 starting with a Clean Boot, checking logs for repeat errors to resolve, utilitze System Resources to find solutions and Generate a System Health Report.

Ok so I had to force a shutdown yesterday because explorer exe suddenly froze and I couldn't even get Process Hacker to restart explorer I held down the power button and turned the laptop off Since then I haven't been able to boot Blank Laptop shutdown. screen: forced won't after load BIOS at all I get a black screen as if the screen hasn't turned on at all Just the power LED lights up And since it won't even reach the BIOS screen let alone give repair options for booting Windows I'm stuck I tried connecting it to an external LCD display which always works but even then blank screen So I guess the display is still alive I have a Dell Inspiron laptop The DVD-drive spins and even ejects when the laptop is turned on but it won't boot from any recovery disc I've tried starting it with one of the RAM sticks removed tried swapping the other one in the other slot too tried starting it with the battery removed and directly from the adaptor tried starting it with the Hard Drive and DVD-drive removed in all possible combinations I've even tried just leaving it on for hours hoping that it would just work randomly but no use I've gone through a gazillion pages on the internet in the past day reading about similar cases To me it seems like forcing a shutdown somehow messed with the BIOS I really want to find the damn CMOS cell and try to reset the BIOS but in this particular laptop dismantling is a nightmare I can't get past taking the palmrest apart I'll have to take it to a technician to check that The thing is according to Dell's POST Diagnosis for the LED Blank screen: Laptop won't load BIOS after forced shutdown. light codes it could be Blank screen: Laptop won't load BIOS after forced shutdown. an issue detecting the processor The numlock LED flashes and the other two LEDs next to it are steady when I boot while holding the Power key and Fn or F together I checked that too made sure the processor was set properly and applied fresh thermal grease but it won't work ALSO When I try turning the laptop on WITHOUT the processor I get the exact same thing with the same LED pattern It's as if the laptop would behave in this manner by default if there was no processor Could this mean the processor just went dead And finally When the laptop is plugged in and running on the adaptor it starts up automatically Without me pressing the power button It still gives a blank screen but I can tell it starts up by looking at the LED and media buttons And I know this is considered a CMOS problem How can a random forced shutdown just mess with the BIOS CMOS Or render the CPU undetectable I've forced shutdowns before too but nothing happed I've tried everything I can think of -

It's not the size of the display screen, these are all fairly identical. It is the connector socket and the rail screw positions that will bite you.

I'd suggest uninstalling Hotspot Shield. Then check for damaged or corrupt system files by running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and immediately reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

It is a practically brand new system. When it starts up again I get this message:I looked in the event viewer to see if I could find out what might be causing ithere is one instance:and here is the latest:obviously the 7:27PM entry here is the cause, but I don't really know if the TCIP error some 20 minutes later could be related.I can't really think of anything that could tie together each instance. It has happened four times now I think.I really don't know where to start to solve this issue, and I'm sure I'll need to post more info but I really don't know what.Any help would be great.

Double click on the Error message to get a description of it. Also, double click on the disk Warning to get a description of it.The System Error message is likely to be a STOP error (also known as a Blue Screen of Death error). There's more info on the messages here: and there's descriptions of the different messages here: back with the information that you find and we'll start working from there. While you're waiting for a reply, go to Start...Run...and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter. In the black screen type "chkdsk /r" (without the quotes) and press EnterYou'll get a dialog that says it can't do it now and would you like to do it on the next reboot. Press Y and then press Enter - then reboot the system. The scan will take a while, so just let it run until it finishes (noting any error messages that it may produce). You'll know it's done when the system boots into Windows.

by any chance you havent changed any settings in the bios. go to the bios by pressing del or tab as you known and when you click exit choose default settings. what happens when you try restore your pc, have you tried it soo far.
also open your pc with all cable off and touch the case to release static there is a chip there. try to find the bios chip and remove it for 2 mins or so and then put it back it will clear the setting and put default. in some computer you remove the jumper from one place to another then back. or in the at formfactor you press a yello button and it clears the CMOS settings.

Hello people I m Vista shuts down abruptly looking for some opinions about this issue I m getting Recently I got as a present a vista ultimate desktop which previously hadn t given any troubles to it s owner The specs are the following AMD athlon X dual core ghz NVIDIA GeForce S nForce So I brought the pc home and started using it without a problem but Vista shuts down abruptly after one day the computer starts shutting down on me No error screens nothing it just shuts down It doesnt restart or anything all of the sudden it goes blank I can turn it on again it Vista shuts down abruptly boots and I can use it for a while and again it shuts down I have left it on all night and it didnt turn off but it seems to happen when I am using it There s no pattern here it might happen at any moment without any logical trigger I opened the tower to check the fans and they are both working well I downloaded a soft called everest to monitor fan and cpu temps and both the motherboard and processors remain usually between and degrees celsius and the fan remains around rpm I have no idea whats going on and can t seem to find any conclusive solution on the net or asking friends I am certain this didn t happen before I brought the computer home but I also did a system restore to a date previous to when I brought it to make sure it is not software related and the problem persist The computer didn t suffer any hit or impact on the way here I am at loss the pc works flawlessly and I am thrilled to use it but as long as this problem persist I have to continue using my old crappy laptop Any help would be inmensely appreciatted Manu

I am a linux user and use firefox. Recently i installed firefox on my laptop and i am facing problems while surfing. Firefox closes abruptly and then when I restart it, it asks for restoring sessions.............. i find it very difficult to restore sessions all the time.......... plz can anybody help me solve this problem of closing down of firefox all of a sudden.

A:Firefox closes abruptly

I assume that you have the Linux version? You could d/l and install a new copy in case it helps; If that doesn't help I don't know what else to suggest as I don't use Firefox very much.

Version is due out soon, maybe next week.

One of my family members is experiencing a PC that is consistently powering down abruptly.

I checked into the windows error log and I'm not able to make sense of it.
I suspect a faulty PSU or rail might also be in play.

A:PC consistently powering down abruptly

In general (with a hardware error) what we look for is either random errors - or no evidence of a problem in the Windows logs.
This is not 100% certain - but it does give us a direction to start looking in.

Your UEFI/BIOS dates from 2010. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the UEFI/BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard. If possible, use the "inside Windows" flash mechanism (if your OEM provides one) - that is much more forgiving than the traditional (floppy drive) flash method.

Only 89 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 100 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).

Beyond that, there isn't much showing wrong that I can see. In most cases, this means it's most likely a hardware problem.
Please start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

Why do you suspect the PSU? IME most problems are solved by the owner, so that's why I ask.
FYI - the only sure test for a PSU issue is to replace the PSU with one that's known to be good (or a new one).
Don't do that yet - we'll work on some more diagnostics to help isolate the problem.
Should you start buying replacement parts, make sure that you get them from a retailer that'll let you return them for a refund if they're not needed.

Finally, this report will help us a bit more (it makes searching for patterns easier):
Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here: Windows Kernel event ID 41 error "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first" in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 R2

I've been having a very weird issue lately.
My computer has been shutting down from time to time, like if i hit the power cord on accident.

I know its not the temperature because i have checked it, it's always normal.
I tried switching power cables, connecting it directly to the power outlet, but still it happened.

Other than temperature, i really have no idea why a computer would shut down like this.

Anyone have any suggestions? Cause i have no clue where to start

A:Computer shutting down abruptly

I would start with the PSU.

Do you have another one you could try?

Also check the cable connections from the PSU to motherboard.

I use windows 7 ultimate. I have not installed any hardware or software recently. For the past 3 days, the system
after booting normally and after about 5 minutes, abruptly goes blank. The monitor goes to sleep mode. CPU goes blank.
Then, I have to start the system afresh and I select the "start windows normally" option and then on the system works properly and continuously.

After this, if I shut down and start the system, the process as aforesaid happens.

What is the solution?

Hi ... am not positive this thread fits here, but tho't I'd give it a try.

My IE7 abruptly stopped working. Each time I try to use IE7, a HTTP 404 Error occurs. IE7 doesn't seem to connect to the web. FireFox, an old Mozilla and NetScape all work fine.

I noticed the IE7 problem when trying to publish from FrontPage, and the program couldn't connect.

Only time IE7 works is when I test a url in the browser, which doesn't require a web connection.

I un- and re-installed IE7, did a clean boot, talked with Microsoft and my host. Nada in all instances.

Any ideas about what's what?

Any way to switch FrontPage from IE to FireFox or another browser?

Need help, asap, as site is languishing for lack of new content.

Thanks, in advance.

Hi I live in an apartment complex and for two months I ve had excellent access to a free WiFi point somewhere around here days ago however the wireless just cut out My computer still quot sees quot the available wireless networks but will only sporadically connect to one with a very abruptly Wireless dying. weak signal Whenever I try to connect to my former one which shows excellent signal strength it gives me the message of quot Waiting for the network quot for about minutes before quitting I ve tried taking my computer to different places in my apartment thinking that perhaps it was just interference where it was sitting before but to no avail I took my computer to another WiFi spot in town and it connected just fine so I don t believe it is something wrong with my computer Is there any way Wireless abruptly dying. I can boost my general reception or otherwise fix this problem I ve seen other forums online that sort of relate to this problem but only when it dealt with home wireless networks not free WiFi Thanks for any help nbsp

A:Wireless abruptly dying.

I'd suspect that whoever you were stealing your wireless access from decided to encrypt their network. Clearly, the WiFi point somewhere around here wasn't actually free wireless, but rather just someone that was careless about protecting their access.

I suggest buying your own access, it's how the rest of us connect to the Internet. You might also visit the TSG Rules and read the part about wardriving and stealing wireless access.

Post a Hijackthis scanlog and also run eventvwr.msc and look at the applications log; if you have IE7 there is also an IE log.

Double click any relevant errors to read the description and use the double-paper copy icon to copy the description here for pasting.

Download and install HijackThis using the "self extractor". Run it and select "do a system scan and save the log file". Then copy/paste the contents of the log to a reply

I did a clean install of windows 7 and now my Netgear WG111T wireless adapter doesn't seem to be working correctly. I am able to connect to my Linksys wrt54g router, but after 5 min it disconnects. I have also shut off my firewall. Does anyone here know how to fix this problem? Thank you in advance.

Run CCleaner and check the item; "Tray Notifications Cache" under "Advanced" options.

Now stop and then restart Explorer.

This clears the cache and resolves most problems.

A:Computer abruptly shuts off while installing

Try removing all but 2gb of RAM to run install. This is the most common problem with even 4gb RAM and 16gb is a lot of RAM.

Next try breaking the RAID to install with only one HD plugged in. We see a lot of problems here with RAID installs so that has to be looked at.

I'd try each controller, first set to AHCI mode, then if install fails try IDE mode.

If you have used HD, then wipe it first with Diskpart: SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

I don't use google chrome so can't really help you with that.

If you want a quick and usefull response you are probably better off on a google chrome forum (if there are any).

Hi All,

I Need your Help to find out why my P1V 3.0 GHz which was running smoothly
did all of a sudden stops functioning. The Operating System installed is WINxp
and there is 2 GB of Memory.

The Core of the Problem is that when the Power button is pressed, the Computer
starts and runs smoothly, however if there is any intensive program running, the
Computer stops abruptly and goes off. This happens repeatedly.

Have check the Processer Fan / Power Supply fan and these are working fine and
have also cleaned the dust around the processor and this did not bring any success.

Would like to have your Help from anyone who knows the cause for this Matter so
that I could run this Computer Normally Again.

I've only had the AIO for about 3 weeks and about half a dozen times during that period it has just powered off and restarted while in the middle of using it. It's happened just browsing, playing a game online and even working offline on a spreadsheet. When it did it today, I opened up the Lenovo Companion app on restart and noticed the last time it did a system update scan was two minutes ago, about when it powered off. Is it possible that this was the cause? Have others seen this same issue? If this is the problem, what can I do? Rather not send it back but I shouldn't be having issues like this with a 3-week old machine. Everything else with it seems fine.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Ensuring that there is virus or malware after a security scan, you can try running diagnostics for the hardware and likewise temperature check using software similar to this and this .

The reason for people like me (I know the nitty gritty details) stay silent on topics like this is that you don't provide the facts. When it comes to wireless, a PC is normally fixed by removing third party bloatware and installing the latest wireless drivers. The wireless infrastructure you connect to on the other hand, includes countless variables that can clutter you experience. So if you expect to get a good diagnose we need info like:OS versionWireless radio/router/controller model, choice of band 2.4g/5gWireless extenders (I hate those)building typedistance to radioand more..... A rule of thumb is "keep it simple" unless you know your trade.

Has anyone encountered a situation where an MPEG file will abruptly close a Windows Explorer window. The file will do this both over my network or while trying to access it from a CD on one of my computers. The PC that has the file on it has no problem with keeping it up on a Windows Explorer Window, or running it with a media program. Both computers are running the same version of Windows XP Professional. As soon as the folder is accessed over the network, Windows Explorer closes on the computer. The same situation occurs when the MPEG file is accessed by CD. The file has been scanned for viruses with multiple checkers, and seems fine. The MPEG file also plays fine in a portable DVD player. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

A:Windows Explorer abruptly closing

Welcome to TSG....

The MPEG file if it has a corruption in it it might play ok in a player but it might crash in a Windows environment. Have you tried this file on another computer that is either on the network and also off the network?

Can you open the MPEG file with an editor program to check to see if it is a good file? Try copying it from the CD-R or DVD to the hard drive to a special directory you have set up. If it does not copy then the file is no good.

We have a wireless network. We use a wireless router. Everything was going along swimingly until the night before last. My wireless just stopped working and it signed me off. BAM.
My husband has a laptop, and he is sitting right here beside me, and our wireless is working for him!
He is wondering if this could be a hardware problem??
Yes, the wireless button is enabled.
No, it's not showing any wireless says
"No Wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the wirelss switch on your computer is on. To see an updated list click refresh networks."
We did that and get the same message again.
Please try to answer in dumb blondese if possible...thanks so much, Robin

A:Wireless Internet stopped working abruptly... help?

lets try abit of troubleshooting..

- when the internet on your machine cuts off, see if you can still access the router, and if you can still access your husband's laptop.

- try your machine on a known wifi hotspot like a mcdonalds or starbucks or something and see if you can connect to it

-check all relevant settings (ssid, encryption, passcodes, channel etc) are correct to teh letter on both pc/laptop and router

- with your husband's laptop, access the router's main program and see if your laptop is being picked up by it

-check for anything that has changed recently - hardware, software, the weather, environment etc and post them here

- update the drivers for your wifi NIC from the manufacturer's website. And scan your pc for any nasties (ad/spy/malware, virus) while your at it

-move any objects, especialy one that has metal in it away from your router and laptop, so it has direct line of sight to each other

After moving to a new home, my computer started misbehaving. It spontaneously restarts, no error message and no BSoD. The computer abruptly shuts down as if someone pulled the power plug, then it reboots.

Important clues:
The shutdowns happen at completely random times, nothing seems to trigger it
Sometimes it happens during boot (which makes me think it is a power issue)
Unchecking "Automatically restart" does not give a BSoD, shutdowns continue to happen abruptly

Things I have tried:
Memtest86 ran 5 passes, 0 errors
SFC /SCANNOW did not find any problems
chkdsk command found no errors on any hard drive, including system disk
Running two antivirus programs (malwarebytes/adaware)

A:Computer randomly shuts down abruptly, then reboots

open the case and check all connections make sure you unplug the computer from wall first and hold the power button down for 10 seconds to let residual power drained. then unplug and plug every connection to make sure they are seated all the way.

Can anyone advise me, I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop, it is about 13 months old, and it has started to abruptly shut down with no warnings.
It appears to be when I am running high processor use applications.

I have 3 questions,

1) The first is, will this laptop still be covered under warranty, although it is 13 months old?

2) Is there a simple fix for this overheating problem?

3) I have looked online and this seems to be a very common issue with Toshiba laptops, has there been a recall on any models?

Thank you for any help that you can give me?

A:Satellite Pro started to abruptly shut down with no warnings

> 1) The first is, will this laptop still be covered under warranty, although it is 13 months old?
Standard warranty covers the notebook 12 month long. If you didn?t purchase additional warranty then the manufacturer warranty is not valid anymore.
But in my country the dealer covers the notebook 24 month long? so maybe you should ask your dealer for info.

>2) Is there a simple fix for this overheating problem?
Well, temperature could be higher because of dust and debris inside the cooling grilles.
Possibly you could solve this cleaning the cooling fans and grilles. I use compressed air spray. This might help you since this helped me?

> 3) I have looked online and this seems to be a very common issue with Toshiba laptops, has there been a recall on any models?
This is not a common issue with Toshiba notebook but unusual for all notebooks series from all manufacturers.
After a while the debris could clog the cooling system since the cooling fans are placed always at the bottom of the unit.
So it's advisable to clean the fans from time to time to ensure good air circulation.

My original thread that stated this problem can be found here In fact you should click on it to see what's up since prior knowledge is very helpful To paraphrase Explorer exe loves to close itself and never rear up again When it does via the Task Manager it will keep opening and restarting The event viewer states in the original thread More details are enclosed there since I would like to save this for room on the HijackThis log and such Although the step process recommends me to use DSS to create a scanfile but DSS froze It didn't work to be frank This is the error signature that appeared within the notifier Code AppName dss exe AppVer ModName dss dll ModVer Offset --- I also have the Panda Active Scan I might as well post it first D I'm attaching the file Y'know the attachment download plan because of the atrocious amount of characters Forgive me if this will create any inconvience In the following post I will post the HijackThis log

Not only should you try and exchange your (probably fried) mobo, you should especially look into that powersupply that does not seem to have enough molex-connectors. Y-splitters are only for emergencies and they rarely fit properly (cheap throw-away item).
Check that the PSU meets the minimum requirements with about 30% at least to spare.

A:Acer Notebook keeps freezing! Dead stop abruptly

Is it locking up when using Firefox? Try running Firefox with add ons disabled. Go to the Firefox tab > Help > click on "Restart with Add-Ons Disabled"

If this fixes the problem, then go to the Firefox tab > Add-Ons > then enable one at a time until Firefox locks up, remove or disable offending Add-On.

You may want to check that your Plug-Ins are updated also, with the Add-Ons Manager window open, click on the Plug-Ins. At the top there will be a link "Check to see if your Plug-ins are up to date", click the link and update any that require a update or fix.

Hi, I am having a really irritating problem with my computer. It happens when the computer is left on for awhile, and then suddenly the computer shuts off out of nowhere. After it shuts off, it makes a weird noise(like a high pitch then low pitch), it seems like its coming from the motherboard or something. I can't even turn it off or on using the power button so I have to pull the plug from the back of the tower and restart. Does anybody know what may be causing this? Thanks in advance for your help.

I am running a Windows 7 Home Premium Toshiba Satellite laptop, and I've recently noticed that, when I click the shutdown button in the start menu, the computer will not power off. It just stays on the blue "Shutting down..." screen forever and ever. This just started happening a couple of days ago out of the blue. I always have to hold down the physical button on the laptop for it to power off, and I don't think that's very good for it. What can I do?
Before it wouldn't shutdown properly, I also started getting hard drive warning messages from the PC health monitor tool as well as poor battery health messages, if any of that is relevant.

A:Laptop won't Shutdown

Remove the battery and just run on the power adapter. Go into Control Panel/Power Options and on the Left panel press, Choose What Power Buttons do. And change it to your liking. Then download the ISO image for Seatools or Drive Fitness in my signature, burn the Image to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature and boot off of the newly created CD and run the Quick and Advanced tests on the HDD. If there are too many errors, the drive will need to be replaced. If you do not see these problems with the battery removed, then replace the battery

Start - all programs- pc help and tools - hardware diagnostics
If it is not there than you can test the ram/hard drive via BIOS. Doesnt sound like a ram or hard drive issue though.

I just recently downgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 7. I went through various manufacturer's websites gathering the necessary drivers for it. Rather suddenly, it stopped shutting down and sleeping properly. The first time it happened, it was trying to sleep because of the auto-sleep timer. The screen turned off, but the fan and lights all remained on. Any time I try to hibernate, sleep, or shut down the computer, this is the result. All my drivers seem to be up to date and I cannot find any issues so far. Please help. Thanks

A:Laptop will not shutdown

Click on the Start button and select Control Panel. Look for Power Options and click on that. On the left side you will see several places to change options. I would turn all of the Sleep, Hibernate, etc off. See if this solves your Shutting Down problem and then you can add things back as you want.
