Z240 Integrted graphics

Q: Z240 Integrted graphics

My system came with a Nvidia PCIe card. I would like to remove this card and use the integrated graphics. Whenever I remove the PCIe the system will just beep, and the integrated wouldn't work. I went in the bios but cannot find anything to enable the integrated. Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My laptop supports two graphics card AMD Radeon(TM) HD 6470M and Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 and after a while the AMD got corrupted(I already updated it but I think it's hardware problem) and causes blue screen so I disabled it in safe mode(because it uses the intel one).

I tried a clean install of Windows 7 and during installation AMD causes blue screen because it gets enabled.

And now I want to try a clean install of the Windows 10. Question is, is there anyway I could disable the graphics card permanently?

I use a 64-bit Sony Vaio Laptop VPCSB26FG with a Windows 7 Home Premium OS. Thanks a lot!

Hey guys, I have searched a lot of forums but haven't found any relevent answers. I am sorry if this is a repeat.

What happened is that I disabled my nvidia graphic card from the control panel and it was too late until I realised my mistake as I had already pressed the restart button. Now I try to start my pc but all that happens is that I hear the sounds I always hear but nothing appears in the screens. I have tried several monitors. I have unhooked the monitor from the nvidia and connected it to the onboard gpu and still no luck. I tried resetting the bios but that didn't help either.

CPU:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00 ghz

GPU:
ZOTAC Nvidia GeForce GT610 Synergy Edition.

A:I disabled my Nvidia Geforce GT610 graphics card accidentally and now I can't see a thing

You'll not make that mistake again and neither will I. You can't see anything when Windows boots but you know it's there. Maybe there's a way round this but I never found it and ended up reinstalling Windows.

Hey guys... I just got a new EVGA GTX650 ti boost superclocked. I just put it in and I was not getting any signal to my monitor. I tried VGA, HDMI and DVI. Nothing worked and when I took it out to try booting with my integrated graphics, I didn't get any signal to my monitor. All of my connections and wires are connected properly, my power supply is the right voltage and has enough power to support my graphics card. My hard drives are spinning but I cant access my BIOS. I have tried everything that is common. I know my graphics card is not defective and im thinking that it might be my motherboard. Any suggestions?

A:My integrated graphics won't work

You were using integrated graphics before the discrete card? It's strange that your onboard isn't working if it was before hand. Usually it's just a overlooked cable or something plugged in the wrong place. Did you make any changes to BIOS? Some boards require you to change the primary display adapter to PCIE or onboard. Maybe a BIOS reset will help the situation. I doubt there is any issues with the MOBO itself. I suggest stripping the build down to nothing but the bear essential components for operation. This way you can isolate the issue a lot easier.

If the rumor mill is to be believed, the price is going to be $1,349, Most people who buy this for gaming will have no use of the double precision floating point prowess of the card, and the few that would probably should have spent a couple hundred extra bucks to get a proper Quadro!

So, I built a PC years ago and kept a few things from my old unit.
Sound and video card.
Sound card didn't work with the new system so I'm running it onboard. Sounds okay, but I'd like to update it!
Video card is beyond old. Just picked up SimCity for 10 bucks and it looks like crap. Has to play on low settings.

6MB Ram (thinking of going to 8 here)
64bit OS Windows 7 home premium

ATI Radeon 5450. (NOT HD) I've looked for the card online and can't even find a picture of it.

What should I be looking for in terms of a video card to last me for years to come?

I'd say yes you have a full height card. The half-height is only about 2 inches. If you upgrade your PSU to 550 like you said you would, I see no reasons why you couldn't run a 750. The 750's are not long cards and should fit in your case with ease.

Not sure if this is better suited for here for the Alternate OS section, but here it goes

I have pretty much switched by computer to running just Linux. Almost never boot over to Windows. Only issue I'm having with it is the Radeon graphics drivers for my R9 290 seem to be arguing with Steam. I have read Nvidia cards propritery drivers work much better with linux.
So one of my work computers needs a graphics card upgrade and I'm thinking getting a good Nvidia card to replace my R9 290 and see if that fixes my graphics driver conflit issues.
Does anyone have any experiance with that and what would be a good card comperable to the R9 290 from Nvidia's end of things?

Thanks!

A:Best graphics card for this system?

Look for a model number printed on your motherboard, usually printed around the CPU area.

The info you provided only tells us you are using a Pentium D. Most likely an 820 (could also be either 915 or 920) but not positive. In any case this would be an LGA775 platform, which usually has a PCIe x16 slot. But without knowing the model number of the motherboard so we can check, I'm not going to swear on PCIe x16 support. I am leaning toward PCIe x16 support, since you stated having a graphics card.

Yes it has, the motherboard in question has a "PCI-x16" which means that all and any new graphics card (GPU) should fit. However, you may want to check what power supply (PSU) you have since new GPU might require more power.

A:Graphics card to suit

With Core 2 Duo, I'd say any current $150 card. Just make sure your PSU will be strong enough to power it (at least 400W). Anything less than 400W, and you should probably stick with $100 or less cards.

I need help picking out the right graphics card that I want/need/ I have a Dell OptiPlex 745, the small-skinny one and I am really looking to stay within or under $100 but I want one that will run some decent FPS games smoothly, not hard FPS games like Skyrim and COD. I have a 2.4 processor, 4Gb Ram and 200Gb hard drive. Please help.

A:Picking the right graphics card

The motherboard you have has a PCI Express 1.0a slot. You will have to find a video card that will work in that slot, because not all Graphics cards will just plug in and play. Not all PCI Express 2.0/2.1/3.0 cards will work with the PCI Express 1.0a slot.

Also, you need to look at your PSU (Power Supply) and determine if you have one that will be able to power the additional Graphics card. The highest wattage one that is included with the Dell OptiPlex 745 is a 305 watt capacity (and the lowest is 220 watts). The specs for the EVGA GeForce GT 730 (this is right from the EVGA Website) states:

300 Watt or greater power supply with a minimum of 20 Amp on the +12 volt rail.****
PCI Express, PCI Express 2.0 or PCI Express 3.0 compliant motherboard with one graphics slot.
Windows 8 32/64bit, Windows 7 32/64bit, Windows Vista 32/64bit, Windows XP 32/64bit
Don't like giving bad news, but I would say no this will not work. I would not actually try to upgrade this computer, because you will run into limitations quickly on what you can do. If you are insistent on getting better graphics, I would look at older graphics cards that are low profile and do not require too much wattage to run.

Hi,

A:Laptop Graphics card suddenly not detected

Ouch if the laptop over heats and shuts down and not recognized again it could actually be physical damage to the video card. Another way to test if the video card has completely failed is by plugging an external monitor into the display port on the laptop. It could connect via hdmi, vga, or possibly display port. If a picture appears on the monitor then it could possibly be software related if you dont see a picture the video card has failed for sure. If it has failed you will more than likely have to replace the motherboard. In rare chance the video card may not be intergrated to motherboard but I doubt it. If you know someone that could whats called (re-flow) the video card

I was wondering if someone could help me figure out what graphics card I can upgrade my computer to (if I can upgrade at all) I was wanting to buy the new Sims 4 game, but after having played a very slow and choppy Sims 3 for years on this computer, I'm ready to actually play a game smoothly without it freezing all the time.

Here's what computer I have:
Compaq Presario PC SR5601P

Hard drive: 250 GB
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Graphics

A:Unsure of what graphics card my computer can upgrade to

Sims 4 System Requirements & your PC system results

For Sims 4 according to the link above, your CPU GPU and memory is lacking for even the minimum system specs. We can recommend a GPU, but that's not all you need if you plan on playing Sims 4. And if you get a stronger GPU, chances are you will also need a stronger PSU. If 300W's is all you have for power, you are limited to sub $100 graphic cards. Which would be fine for Sims 4, but then you also have a CPU and memory that needs upgrading.

Hi first off ill let u know what im dealing with for specs...

Windows 7 ultimate - emachines el1333g amd processor 1800mhz
integrated nvidia geforce 6150

just added - radeon x1300/x1500 256mb

I installed the radeon and hooked up dual monitors via splitter

Now my questions are about using the integrated graphics as well.

Can I enable the integrated nvidia to use a 3rd monitor? I believe I can thru bios, but am nervous about bios.
Would enabling it help system performance even if not using a 3rd monitor?
Would enabling it help system performance if I used 1 monitor per video card instead of both thru the new radeon?

Thank you in advance

I'm going to say no.

The reason I say that is unless you can connect the onboard graphics in SLI/Crossfire, the moment you insert the dedicated card, the onboard graphics will be disabled. Since you have nVidia onboard and inserted an AMD card, I know SLI/Crossfire is out of the question. But who knows, I could be wrong because I definitely don't know it all.

I will say making BIOS changes is not damaging. If you make a change that keeps the machine from posting, you can always pull the coin sized battery to default all the settings.

A:Graphics Card How Good Does My System Need To Be?

While it can handle it, it will be greatly bottlenecked by the CPU. Also, we need to make sure your PSU can handle it, so if you can post your full system specs including the PSU, HDD, motherboard, etc., that would great.

You can probably upgrade the CPU to an 8350 since it uses the same socket. But you may need to apply a BIOS update. BUT, before we get ahead of ourselves, please post full system specs like said above. Thanks.

With that budget and 500 watts, you should not be too limited in your purchases. One thing you need to check is if your Power Supply has a set of 6 pin connectors or 8 pin connectors because sometimes on the pre-bought machines they do not have too many.

Here is what I would recommend if you have at least 2 6 Pins available:

Highest
R9 280 £175
or
R9 270X £140

Those would both be excellent cards with the 280 being the best and the 270X being right below it in terms of performance. Both would be a huge step up from an HD 5450.

If I were you, I would avoid anything below a 650 mostly because the scaling drops off a cliff after that point. At your price point of 70, I would suggest the following while keeping within your 300Watt Spectrum.

Try one of the following:

HD 7770 £71

Or if you want to go lower on price

HD 7750 £61

The performance difference from a GT 640 is way above (In many cases double the performance on the HD 7770) it. The GT series below 650 just scale down to low to be decent gaming cards. You should be well within your 300 watt spectrum because these cards use 140 watts (Give or take) which is pretty close to the GT 640 watts (About 130).

To give you a quick example, look at this benchmark chart. Thats only including the HD 7750 but the performance difference is significant!

A:External graphics Card For laptop

Yes to an extent, but for the price you might as well buy a gaming laptop to begin with.

The price of the systems can be moderately low now if you use the basic GPU Dock station that can help but they lower the performance of said card and usually can only be used easily from home.

But to answer your question, yes it will.

What I do have, without slicing and dicing and getting out the soldering iron, is the adaptor cable below. What I don't know is whether this has a sufficient amount of wires I.e. 0V and 12V to provide power to my G/Card.
Any ideas?

Tom.

A:Wiring a graphics card to a generic PSU - sufficient power wires on plug?

System power consumption with a Sapphire X1950 GT is less than 250W. I think you will be fine with the splitter mentioned above. You probably don't need much extra power to run the card. I assume there is at least a 300W PSU or greater in the system.

The last 3 are the best and equal in performance. The 640 has less power than the 650. Pick a brand, they are probably also equal in quality.

2D graphics are fine, but 3D/Game Graphics are wacky. This problem is not just with Stronghold Kingdoms (as scene in video), but all games with 3D graphics. However the 2D graphics even on the same screen are never effected.

HELP.

I have tried a different Monitor, Graphics Card and sent the motherboard back for a replacement; Biostar sent me custom upgraded BIOS; I've re-seated the CPU/Fan with new thermal paste over 6 times and I've turned on and off every graphics option in games with in the Catalyst Software I can find. This is a brand new build so there is no dust to speak of. I can't find any one else with a problem quite like this so I'm at a loss?!?

I'm Running an AMD Radeon HD 7700 GPU; Biostar TA970 MOBO; AMD FX 4300 CPU; 16 GB RAM; Windows 8.1; Catylist 13.12 with 750 watt corsair PS.

I looked up the model for your computer and it does contain a pci-e 16 slot on it so all cards are open. However that computer is seriously dated in terms if internal hardware and would not be worth investing to much into. Can you give us an idea what you want to accomplish with it.

I recently upgraded graphics and psu in my pc...from integrated hd4200 and some crappy psu to hd7850 and alpine 600w...How can I safely oc my cpu so it will minimize slowing down my graphics until I change cpu for an phenom965 in a few months and can I get my graphic card to work with integrated one in crossfire and would it benefit in better gaming performance?

And yeah I use stock cooling with 3x large fan case (one on the side where graphic card is, I twisted it so it takes the air out of the case)the pc is in normal room temperature, and I hv 3 thermometers on ram, cpu, and hdd, neither of those temperatures never exceeded 45 Celsius and there is no heat problem on the cpu what so ever.

A:Need help with CPU OC for my graphics

Umm im very confused, your saying the previous Integrated CPU Graphics was the HD 4200, the problem right there is that we cant see exactly which CPU you have because Both Intel and AMD have a chip that will use an HD 4200 (AMD was with a 765g Motherboard and Intel is in the HAswell series CPU). Basing this off the fact you said upgrading to a 965, im going to assume that you have an AMD CPU. That being said unless you have a black edition CPU or a 890/990FX Chipset which it does not sound like you have, you cant overclock the CPU.

Can you tell us exactly which CPU you have specifically?

Also if you are running the stock heatsink, overclocking is extremely limited. It would overheat if really pushed anywhere on the stock heatsink.

My other thing is a Phenom 965 is not an upgrade by todays standards anymore as its a very dated CPU. You might want to just grab a new motherboard and an FX 4300 cpu or an FM2+ motherboard and an A10 CPU.

I am new to upgrading my PC, but I have some experienced friends and I have stumped them all with my issue. I installed a new MSI Twin Frozr III R7850 graphics card in my HP Pavillion Desktop, I have a PCIe x16 2.0 and the card uses 3.0, however from research that should not be my problem. I installed the card and two startups in a row I got 8 1 second beeps. On the third startup however I got nothing, it just started up, no picture and obviously not loading any programing, but no beeping. I have tried the HDMI and DVI ports that the graphics card uses and I still have nothing. My computer, however, runs perfectly fine when I do not have this new graphics card powered. Am I doing something wrong, or is my card just dead?

A:Graphics Card Issue

Well ill go through a few basic things:

First did you hook up both 6 pin connectors?

Second what video card was installed previously, if it was NVidia, did you remove the previous drivers.

Third, have you tried different slots on the motherboard for testing, also does the motherboard have onboard video.

Try these solutions and lets go from there.

I installed a new graphics card to my PC and it's using a DVI-I to VGA adapter and it's connected with a VGA (Yes, it IS a DVI-I) When I connect it using that the computer turns on, the monitor turns on, and there is nothing displayed on the monitor. The GPU (gigabyte gtx 770 4gb) is in correctly, I've checked many times. I tried using the mobo graphics and when I do, the monitor stays off and I hear one long beep and 2 short beeps. Whenever my PC turns on the light that shows it's 'loading' goes off after a few seconds and a quick tap of the power switch will shut it off completely. I'm so confused as to what to do and afraid I screwed everything up. I think it's a PSU problem but can't be sure. It's more than enough watts as well.

When I remove the graphics card my computer runs like normal, and now im stuck with not a clue in the world of what to do to get the GT610 to work with my desktop. Any suggestions of what to do?

A:Graphics card issue with a APU

Are you connecting the monitor to the card? In order for the card to work the monitor must be connected to a port on the card.

If not the reason for the black screen is the integrated graphics is disabled when installing a dedicated graphics card.

A:Graphics Funky and Glitchy on Old Laptop

In my experience, glitchy graphics are caused by one of four things. Faulty OS (doubtful), faulty drivers (certainly possible), a metric ton of dust in the vents (possible, but doubtful), or a dying graphics chip (also possible).

Maybe the previous owner overclocked the gpu, or didn't take care of it properly. Or maybe the laptop is just aging and showing it. Components can fail at any given moment even if they're brand new.

I would try a few things. If you haven't done safe-mode, see if that fixes the graphics glitch. If it does, it's likely to be driver related and you would just have to go to the manufacturer's support webpage and download an updated version. If re-installing the driver doesn't work, and it's not dusty, then it's likely to be dying. That spells "n e w l a p t o p" to me.

A:Which Graphics Card would my PC (support) be able to handle?

Upgrading from a GTX 260, I'm not sure I would select a 660 or 760. Unless I was going for DirectX 11 capability. The 670 requires a 500W power supply and the 770 requires a 600W power supply. So while DirectX 11 would be an upgrade, if you are wanting a large performance increase, you will need a larger power supply than 460W. Judging by the dimensions of the GTX 260, I would say the longer graphics cards (11 inches) would physically fit. Speaking of the GTX 260, nVidia specifies a 500W is required. I know the specifications allow for headroom, so it is your call whether you want to risk a card that calls for 500W.

The fact that the card works and the fan does spin suggest it is not a PSU issue. Since the fan will spin but does not regulate, only points at the Pulse Width Controller. I couldn't say whether it is controller fault or driver issue, but I am fairly certain it is not the PSU.

Your power supply is a 250W, you can see the listing under Max Output Power. You will need another power supply before attempting to add a graphics card of any rating. Before we continue, we need to determine if your case will support a power supply replacement and graphics card.

We went down this road the other day in another thread and after suggesting several cards, we discovered the case was too small to house any graphics card.

If you can stretch your budget to $90, a Radeon HD 7770 like this one - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161433 - should work okay, but you need a minimum 500 watt PSU with at least one 6 pin PCIe power connector (or an adapter).

Hi.I am having a problem with my gpu.
I recently put together new pc but kept my old gpu.It is Sapphire HD 4650.
It was working perfectly on old system, but now it just rots in there with almost no life signs.
Thing is:
1. Fan is spinning for about a second on system startup and shutdown. Then it stops and that's it.
2.Card by itself is pretty hot,so I assume pci-e port is not broken.(?)
3.Tried changing card from internal to pci-e in bios.No good.
4.It does not show up anywhere, not in cpu-z,not everest nowhere at all.

What could be the problem?
Would appreciate any help or advice.

My specs:
Athlon II x3 450
2gb ram
MSI 760gm-e51(fx)
400w codegen psu
250gb sg barracuda
Windows 8.

A:Graphics card fan not spinning, but by itself it is hot

Is this your GPU? If so, it runs on AGP not PCIe.

Hi,

I need Graphic Card for my computer because the existing graphic card is build-in and it is 64Mb.
My Motherboard is Asus P5S800-VM.

I want to know Which Graphic Card is Compatible for my motherboard.

Thanks

A:Which graphics card is compatible with ASUS P5S800-VM

Unfortunately, that motherboard only has an AGP slot, so your videocard upgrade will be very limited.

Here is one of the cheaper units for AGP, but you must also ensure your case has adequate cooling (at least one case fan aside from the power supply fan is recommended) and also ensure you have a fairly beefy power supply (350 Watt or greater, 400W+ preferred).

I am not the best with computers. But I do know that my current graphics card needs an upgrade.

Currently I have "Nvidia Geforce FX 5200" (AGP) which is only 128MB.

I have found one on BestBuy which is better. (I have giftcards)

I do not need a great one but just one that is somewhat better.

Now, before I order it, I just want to make sure it is compatible with my specs. This is were my dumbness comes in!

My computer is a 32 bit. Has 2.5G RAM. And the GI is AGP. Someone please help me!

The Z5771 does have a pcie slot for an external graphics card - how you get he case open I have not investigated but I was planning on buying a decent card for it. The only proviso seems to be it neds to be a low profile card.

A:Changing graphics card on an all-in-one PC

You will have to look the case over carefully to figure out how to open it. There are plenty of low-profile PCIe cards out there to choose from

I was just wondering what specifications you should pay attention to when comparing graphics cards. I was just looking at base clock and boost clock speeds on a couple different cards and noticed, for example, that the GTX 770 actually has higher base and boost clocks than the GTX titan. This leads me to believe that there is a lot more to it than base and boost clock speeds since obviously the GTX titan is better than the 770.

A:What to look for in Graphics cards?

They are different video cards, the GTX 770 is essentially an overclocked GTX 680 with a higher memory bandwidth so its a different GPU than the GTX titan and 780 and a different amount of cuda cores. Because of this, it can do higher clocks to keep up performance while the other cards have more Cuda cores but will consume much more power and heat to do the same clocks which is why they don't do it. Its all about that balance!

Let me dive straight into my problem..

I have a 500w power supply (There's not brand on it, It came with my PC 2ish years ago.)

I've recently bought a GTX 660 Graphics card, everything went perfect until... I started playing games. As soon as I would get into the game, set up my graphics, within 2-10 minutes (time varies with different games) My whole computer would switch off without warning, and then 1-3 seconds later switch back on with no indication that anything went wrong.

It can't be the Temperature or my GPU or CPU, as the game doesn't stay on long enough for the whole thing to crash.. I think.

Should I upgrade my PSU to a 750w power supply or something?

Any reply would be massively appreciated.

-Ryan

A:PSU not enough for my Graphics Card?

The GTX 660 only requires a 450w power supply. I am currently using a 600W with my GTX 660 though.

Hello,

This is my first post.

My PC currently has GeForce 6600 as my graphics card, however I feel it is time to upgrade it so I can play new games etc. I would like the best graphics card (regardless of price) that my PC can allow.

I have Windows XP 32, Intel Pentium 4 540 3.20GHz

2GB RAM with ASUSTeK Computer inc motherboard.

I realize I can't have the ultimate best Graphics card with my current PC set up, but what is the best my PC can allow?

A:I want to upgrade my graphics card from GeForce 6600

Does you PC have an AGP or PCIe card slot? We can't recommend a card until we at least know this answer.
