I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Xcfe.sys BSOD

No idea what that is. Is the CPU fan running and can you hear the hard drive spinning? Remove all peripherals inside the computer (if it's not a laptop) then put them in one at a time, turning off the computer before installing the next peripheral, then on again etc. If the computer works without one of the devices then you found the culprit. Do the same with the RAM if you have more than one module. Could be a number of things. Also test the power supply with a multimeter or power supply tester. Let us know?!

A:BSOD Plannetside 2 (steam) black screen> reboot> BSOD crash report

A stop 0x116 is a display/graphics related issue. Many a factors or components may cause such a BSOD.

First of all, it is the display driver. From your BSOD dumps, I have noticed that it crashed the same irrespective of the driver version over time. So overlooking this part right now. Will concentrate it on later again, if needed.

Next thing is overclocking, which sometimes lead display to crash. And, you are slightly overclocked.

Code:
CPUID: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz"
MaxSpeed: 3400
CurrentSpeed: 3411
As the system is crashing, you should stop overclocking. Set all the hardware elements like CPU, GPU and RAM to default; and reset the BIOS to default too.
How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)

Heat is another factor. Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

Also, dust accumulation causes heat, and dust accumulation depends on the age of the system. How old the system is? If possible, dismantle it and clean the inside carefully .... specially the air vents and fan grills, so that it can blow the hot air out easily.
Dont forget to apply thermal paste to the CPU when re-seating the system.

Insufficient power supply is also a great cause of display crash. Check if the CPU is supplying adequate power there or not.

Hello, so i think i have dealt with this bluescreen 3times now, and it seemed to have gone away after i went from my amd system to intel. But now its there again. The most useful function ever, wake from sleep, is now bluescreening my computer. I instantly tried to use the Disply Driver Uninstaller because thats how i solved this before, but no luck... So please, could anyone help me out? I have the dmp file too. (apparantly this support forum does not allow for dmp file uploads.... well..

After BSOD problems (0x00000050), I took my two month old Dell desktop back to Geek Squad under warranty. Said problem wasn't hardware, but software, and would charge to fix. I took it home and reinstalled Win 7. BSOD (0x0000007b) with a Dell installation CD, but otherwise fine except it keeps restarting itself at various intervals. When I tried installing drivers, it wouldn't recognize Ethernet card. Not sure what's going on. Wife thinks a no-name anti-virus CD will fix it all, but I'd appreciate your advice.

I have a relatively new computer that I've built and I've been getting BSOD's for a while.

At first I thought it was because the pagefile was disabled, but that was just why they weren't getting logged to MiniDump. Then I got it enabled again and now I'm getting a lot of BSODs. It's been 0x3b ntoskrnl exe lately, but when I enabled driver verifier I was getting a different BSOD on each boot.

One of them specifically mentioned a .sys that I can't exactly remember. it was XXhalp.sys or something, and when I Googled it - everyone was talking about deleting monitor profiles from the registry and that somehow old monitor profiles were causing the BSODs, so I donno about that.

I would appreciate any help you can offer. I'll be actively monitoring this (and I'm currently in safe mode with driver verifier still enabled). So just let me know what you need.

Thanks,

Pseudo

Hi,

My computer has been unstable for quite some time and after memory tests, changing graphics cards, many driver variations and a couple of fresh OS installs a while ago it is still not stable.

The difficulty is that it doesn't seem to be triggered by anything specific so it makes debugging really difficult... sometimes it crashes twice a day then not for another week or two.

Please help me shed some light on how this could be resolved as I am considering stripping the PC down to its components, selling them and buying a pre-built system instead.

Thanks
Henry

A:Bsod 0xa3 And 0x8e - Unusual/unclear Picture And Random Bsod

0x8e errors are usually caused by driver issues. Here is what Microsoft says regarding 0xa3 errors:An inconsistency in the ACPI driver is so severe that continuing to run would cause serious problems. One possible source of this problem is a BIOS error.Drivers and Windows interacts with the BIOS. Have you tried a BIOS update? Usually this is not recommended as it can cause serious issues if the update is not performed correctly, but is recommended when the BIOS is suspected to be the cause of an issue such as this.EDIT: all you see on the screen is black with blue spots all over.I just remembered having an issue like this, and it was corrected by simply reseating the video card. Just thought I would mention this.

I recently built a new system When playing Bad Company I have gotten a consistent BSOD about hour into playing I am not really familiar with BSOD codes and my computer restarted so quickly I was unable to get the exact code When I play again I will try to get the code and add it to the post One thing I noticed when using the Forums System 2, during unknown Bad BSOD BSOD attached jcgriff2 files error, Company Specs is that it showed the Intel HD Graphics from BSOD during Bad Company 2, unknown error, jcgriff2 BSOD files attached the processor being the primary graphics with a current resolution of x x while my Radeon was the secondary graphics with a current resolution of x x I was under the impression that the Intel Graphics should automatically be disabled with the install of my Is it possible that the Intel graphics aren't being disabled properly and being overloaded when I play Like I said I'm not too familiar with debugging and any help would be appreciated This is my first time posting please let me know if there is BSOD during Bad Company 2, unknown error, jcgriff2 BSOD files attached any additional information that is needed and how I can gather it Thanks

Counterfeit installations such as yours contains heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSOD's and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable.

My recommendation is to start with a clean slate, and install a genuine version of Windows. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSOD's far more reliable.

Hi,

All of the attached DMP files are of the SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (3b)bug check.

This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.

This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

Uninstall/disable nVidia Streaming Kernel service ASAP!

2. Uninstall Spyhunter ASAP from Enigma Software as it's likely causing conflicts with Malwarebytes.

3. Ensure you have the latest video card drivers. If you are already on the latest video card drivers, uninstall and install a version or a few versions behind the latest to ensure it's not a latest driver only issue. If you have already experimented with the latest video card driver and many previous versions, please give the beta driver for your card a try.

4. sptd.sys is listed and loaded in your modules list; SCSI Pass Through Direct Host - Daemon Tools (known BSOD issues with Win 7 and 8). Please remove it ASAP with the uninstaller tool - DuplexSecure - Downloads

Around the th of March I was playing Smite, BCC116 atikmpag.sys & playing BSOD mentions BCC117, BSOD Smite joined a match and about half way through it I received a freeze then a BSOD This continued to happen randomly when I would play a smite match ranging from every to matches could happen near the beginning or in the middle of the game So I wouldn't ruin more games for others I attempted to fix the problem myself looking up that I had to update my GPU drivers which I do now have or uninstall them to let my pc auto install the suitable one This ended up with my PC or Radeon hardware detector not detecting the GPU so I had to system restore I also tried cleaning out my PC rig BSOD playing Smite, BCC116 & BCC117, BSOD mentions atikmpag.sys with a duster to see if my bad PC hygiene had caused heating problems but it had no affect I have used malware-bytes to detect malware and viruses but all that was quarantined seems to have had no affect I tried these solutions that I see everywhere when I search but obviously they didn't work So instead of finding a solution I attempted to find more symptoms I found that within the blue screen it mentions atikmpag sys I see that my PC problem reports tell me that I have a lot of Windows shutting down and Video hardware errors With the BCC codes BCC and BCC respectivly I also attempted to see if I would gain the BSOD by testing on more strenuous games and didn't gain any BSOD whilst playing Dark Souls and Batman Arkham Knight thus so far I have concluded that this BSOD seems Smite specific though this could do with some further testing So now I have given up in attempting to fix it by my self and have joined the Sevenforums in an attempt to fix this problem and get back to the game I enjoy I hope I have successfully attached the zip file correctly but if I haven't or some other files are needed or if I haven't applied a forum rule by accident please mention it To test whether a solution has worked or not I will have to play many smite matches so it may take a while before whether I can reply confirm whether the BSODs are gone or not

Using which tool/software? You should run Memtes86+ for at least 7 Passes (Test each RAM stick individually)
RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Your BSODs are RAM/Memory related, rest your RAM settings to their default values in your BIOS. Stop any overclocking if any.

Run Prime 95 to test your CPU. Carefully the instructions in this tutorial: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95. Run 3 separate tests, one on each of the settings (Blend, Small FFTs, Large FFTs). Post back with your results.
Note that this test may overheat the CPU, ensure proper cooling.

Post back with your results.

Hi All,

I'm an experience computer user working in technical support and system administration in linux environment.

This issue has me stumped.

My pc is refusing to boot, it will throw a BSOD moments after hitting the loading windows screen.

Start up recovery prompts to system restore, once this is complete it restarts with the same effect.

Repairing from the windows system disk has the same effect.

When booting into safe mode, the system will BSOD when loading aswRvrt.sys.

All BSODs happen too fast to read anything, not dumping physical memory.

This all started happening after a seemingly random BSOD which happened last night.

The only change to the system that I effected was installing a newsgroup reader this was done several hours before the first BSOD.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

A:BSOD on windows load - safe mode BSOD at loading Aswrvrt.sys

When you used the installation disc did you access the System Recovery Options and run the Startup Repair?

A:BSOD after restarting following a malwarebytes scan and BSOD after running windows xp repair

System manufacturer and model?

Generally...OEM disks do not allow for a "repair install", only a reversion to factory defaults which the system had when purchased.

All documentation (which I've seen) referring to a repair install of XP...assume that the user has a copy of MS Genuine Windows, not disks provided by an OEM.

Most likely driver-related.

Still, run memtest86+ and let it go through at least six passes.

Finally, uninstall McAfee or Norton and replace it with MSE.

I installed an antivirus program and Adobe Acrobat on Win 7 64 bit ultimate. It requested a system restart. Upon restart, I had a BSOD immediately after the Windows 7 splash screen (before Win requests my user password). Upon BSOD, it auto-restarted my PC and automatically brought me in to Windows repair. After waiting 45 minutes and seeing Windows repair wasn't doing anything, I just turned off and turned on my PC. I got another BSOD. Then, I rebooted again, and it was able to load into Windows.

I've attached my dump file. Any what's causing this and how I can fix?

Thanks.

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.

Hi,
Unfortunately the installation is counterfeit.
The Key is that of a Dell OEM computer - and the motherboard is a retail one by Asus.

The best course of action is to:Purchase a legitimate Windows 7 licence.
Format the HDD.
Reinstall Windows and activate.

Hi Guys,

Upgraded the parts to my computer around the 20th of December, and been having issues since, i have tried diagnosing the problem myself, re-installed my OS about 10 times now with different installation methods.

I am having so many issues it would be crazy trying to list them all, i will upload the files that the tool created and if you need any further information i will do my best to answer.

I upgraded my RAM, Mobo and CPU in the upgrade.

- What is the age of system (hardware)? ~1 year
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) ~1 year, I installed it when I got the laptop.

Also, one of my USB ports is not working, it has been like that for a while. The sound jack is also broken i fell on the headphone cord. The sound still works, just have to move it a bit. I'm about to send it in to get the hardware repaired and was hoping I could get an answer here on the BSOD before hand. The laptop is a Sager W860CU. Thanks!

I'm currently scanning with Avast.

I took a picture of the BSOD with my phone. Hopefully you can see all the characters.

I'm currently scanning with Avast.

I took a picture of the BSOD with my phone. Hopefully you can see all the characters.

Thanks!

I have been getting a ton of bsods I have re installed video drivers, updated and reinstalled windows 8. Did countless hardware test(Video ram, check memory, Cpu test) all passed temperatures stay around 25-35 c.
Recently uninstalled all video drivers and re installed. The bsods sometimes go away for a week or two but come back. and sometimes when it bsods there is a static noise inside of the computer, and the blue screen becomes distorted
Ive attached the dump files, if someone could help me pinpoint the piece of hardware so I can ship it out for repair please.

A:Random BSOD 0x00000124 Hall.dll (Bsod is distorted/static

Hi irunebar12 & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-

Code:
Error : DCACHEL0_WR_ERR (Proc 7 Bank 1)
Status : 0xbf80000000000124
Address : 0x0000000101d80bc0
Misc. : 0x0000000000000086

The dumps are consistent with the error that there was a problem in writing to the L0 Cache of the CPU. That is a dead CPU and hence you are getting the errors even after a fresh install.
See if you are getting any errors in Prime95 according to the below (thanks usasma) -

Prime95 download site: GIMPS - Free Prime95 software downloads - PrimeNet
Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight please run the "Small FFTs" test instead. (run all 3 if you find a problem and note how long it takes to error out with each)
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
Monitor the CPU temperature and DON'T let it exceed 85?C. If it does, then you probably have a CPU cooling problem.
- CPU temps exceeding 60?C can cause errors in Prime95. Fix the cooling solution first, then run Prime95 again.
This won't necessarily crash the system - but check the output in the test window for errors.
The Test selection box and the stress.txt file describes what components that the program stresses.
NOTE: Errors should be considered when:
- the system BSOD's during Prime95
- the system freezes during Prime95 (this is different than the extreme slowness caused by the program using all your RAM and CPU)
- the Prime95 program crashes
- the Prime95 program shows errors in it's display
- there are errors in the Prime95 results file
More details on the use of this test: Torture test your CPU with Prime95

Also, perform the Intel Burn Test according to the below link -
IntelBurnTest - The new stress-testing program
Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hello there,

I've been having BSOD since around 2/14/16. They have different codes and the most recent one was today error 0x000000d1. I've noticed that it seems to happen when I wake up my computer from sleep. My CPU was overclocked when this started and as of 2/19/16 I've reset it to default speed. My sister recommended this forum to me.

Thank you very much!

Lucia

Edit: I was looking through my images on my phone and I sent my sister a screenshot on 2/19 of a BAD_POOL_HEADER BSOD STOP: 0x00000019. We uninstalled my HP printer driver which was the newest driver at the time, uninstalled my NVIDIA video driver, downloaded windows essentials and scanned the comp (clean), uninstalled malwarebytes, reset CPU speed and installed the newest NVIDIA driver. I reinstalled malwarebytes as well and ran a scan (clean). Didn't have any issues until today.

A:BSOD when waking comp from sleep, multiple BSOD errors

Hello Milkpop and welcome to 7forums!

So you aren't overclocking right now?

The most recent BSODs were caused by cmudaxp.sys which is an ASUS audio driver, manually update or reinstall the audio drivers. You may need to uninstall, reboot, and perform a fresh audio driver install. You can download the new drivers from here:
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/RA...Desk_Download/

Hello guys Problem started quite recently I bought a new computer a month ago and everything was cool until it started giving me MANY BSODs affter one intitial BSOD while playing League Of Legends After a first crash Windows asked during boot playing while BSOD reinstalling Win7 LoL, BSOD when avast!, affected if i want to run a recovery utility and each time I said yes it would BSOD at the end of the scan It would continuously crash until I ignored the recovery options and asked to start as normal This would give me a little bootloop consisting of two or three BSODs and then boot properly This whole thing BSOD while playing LoL, affected avast!, BSOD when reinstalling Win7 happened a few times around five I would say and today avast popped up saying it wouldn't run in background or something I tried resolving the issue but i would go back to a red error state instantly After uninstalling avast rebooting and trying to reinstall I had a nasty series of crashes in the middles of the installation and a huge bootloop with a blue screen each BSOD while playing LoL, affected avast!, BSOD when reinstalling Win7 time I decided to send BSOD while playing LoL, affected avast!, BSOD when reinstalling Win7 this all to hell and restore my computer to a restoration point which resulted in a long tedious procedure and an error message at the end At this point being pretty pissed ans wanting blood I decided to reinstall Windows Silly me I used the same CD exactly which worked when I just bought the PC and this time when I asked to boot from the CD i got a black screen for five minutes followed by a blue fatal error Tried many times each failed Right now i'm checking the hard drive with HD Tune and will run an overnight scan of RAM with memtest but i have a strong suspicion it's gonna give me another BSOD as soon as I try to boot from USB I am absolutely lost here If even reinstalling windows doesn't work what do I have to do I did not touch the BIOS in any way and first time I installed Windows with problems Help me please I am adding the dumps in attachement zip and can provide logs from WhoCrashed if needed Says something about ntfs sys aswndisflt sys which is an avast file and ntoskrnl exe

Tenyoriu, I'll try to help with your problems. You have 3 dump files and from all of the errors I see, you seem to have some problems.

I am just going to show you a few of them. I could probably fill up the page with code, which I doubt means much to you. But, then I am going to give you a list of several things to do. I only ask that you read the instructions carefully and follow them. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of what the main issue is.

I know you said you uninstalled Avast, but it and the next one appear in every dump file.

Here's the clif notes: Got a brand new (not refurb) lenovo desktop. win 7 62 bit - blue screen all the time, random times. I'm not a gamer, i had very little installed.

Took a picture, called support with the code, they sent a guy out and he replaced my motherboard. All seemed good - for a few hours. Got two new bsod. Attached are the 2 recent minidumps and a screenshot of my specs, and that other file requested.

Hope you guys can help. I am still under warrantee and can probably raise hell and get another new machine, but it's been 3 weeks and I just want to use the thing

Thanks

Hello, welcome to SevenForums!

Nothing shown as far as processes go, and you have a 109* critical structure corruption bugcheck for one of the two dumps, so it's most likely hardware related, usually memory of hard drive.

I would recommend running Memtest to ensure your memory isn't faulty.

Check your hard drive for any errors as well with chkdsk:

Open the "Computer" window
Right-click on the drive in question
Select the "Tools" tab
In the Error-checking area, click <Check Now>.

I have run memtest already and have had 0 errors. I have all my drive up to date. I also reformatted my computer-NOT REPAIR, but FULL WIPE.

I have attached information via the instructions in thread.

A:Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) BSOD error 0x0000016

Hi hemzki.

A stop 0x116 is a display/graphics related issue. For a laptop a stop 0x116 is either a GPU failure or a display driver failure.

Your computer is a laptop with a 700 series nvidia GPU. It seems to be a new one.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

If it problems during furmark, RMA the laptop.

But if it is not, then it is a driver issue.

And unfortunately I dont know any driver version that works good with GTX 700 series. You may try the drivers on a trial and error basis:
320.49 WHQL
327.23 WHQL
331.58 WHWL
331.65 WHQL
331.82 WHQL
332.21 WHQL
Any other driver version after that.
Get them from Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Do a clean install on all of them. Uninstall the previously installed driver first.
Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features3D Vision Control Driver
3D Vision Driver
Graphics Driver
HD Audio Driver
PhysX
nvidia Update
GeForce Experience
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
Download the target WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:
Lengthy process, but the only stable version of nvidia is 314.22 lately, which does not support 700 series GPU.

Hope one of the drivers will work good for you.

I have BSOD only a couple of times other than running the swtor launcher, but that is primarily when it happens and the only way I can reliably reproduce a bsod.

Attached are the dumps, the last 2 dumps were with driver verifier running (crashed upon boot-up)
I can run memtest86 for hours (16+ cycles complete) with no errors, prime95 with no errors, and IntelBurnTest with no problems.
Temperatures are not excessive, I have never gotten above 45C on the cpu or 55C on the mainboard under maximum stress.

I don't know what else to try - Thanks in advance!

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:

Quote:
There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website)
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.-
Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
It's my opinion that SSD's aren't reliable enough (with current hardware) to be used on a system that needs to work reliably. Until I see reliability I will not recommend, nor will I use, SSD's for critical applications.
06 Dec 2011 - This post tends to confirm issues with certain SSD chipsets and certain controllers - [SOLVED] cant find the cause of BSOD F4 - Tech Support Forum
29 May 2012 - The frequency of BSOD's with SSD's seems to have been decreasing over the last several months. It may be approaching time to re-evaluate my stand on their suitability for use in production systems.

ATI HDMI Audio is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?
Please re-enable it, update the drivers, then disable it again if so desired.

I strongly suspect your Razer device - and it may even be hardware related. So update the Razer drivers. If that doesn't fix it, then uninstall the software and physically remove the device from your system.

You have 2 versions of AMD Overdrive installed. Please make sure that they are both removed. Here's my suggestions:

Quote:
AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems.

Quote:
Please uninstall all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Uninstall". Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

Boot off of the Windows Disc Or download the Recovery Console ISO. Burn it to CD with IMGBurn Boot off of the CD and get to the Recovery Console. Here type chkdsk /R and press enter. The Check Disk utility will try and fix any file errors.
You can also download the ISO image for Seatools, or WD DataLifeGuardin my signature and burn the image to a CD using IMGBurn also in my signature and boot off of the newly created CD and run the Quick and Advanced tests on the HDD to test the integrity of the drive.

Hi. I've been having this problem for about one year now and I decided it's time I sought online help. My PC is about 2 and a half years old and the current windows installation is roughly 2 years old (windows 7 professional x64 from microsoft academic alliance...).
Crashes/freezes happen at random times (I had gone about a month with none) and not when a particular program is running. I've attached minidump files and system health report.

A:Daily BSOD's, some random, some during gaming (Prime95 Insta-BSOD)

Here are the missing JCGriff2 and perfmon files. Again, any help in regards to this problem I am having are tremendously appreciated. I can fix near anything with a computer, debugging this deep however escapes my knowledge and I don't know who else to turn to.

Note there are four dumps from today. 2 were while playing Skyrim. 2 were while testing Prime95 on Blend mode, insta-crashed within seconds.

Good Afternoon,

In the past couple of months, I've had multiple instances of BSOD and have tried to solve on my own; but to no avail, I have been unsuccessful and I am now here.

Here's the BSOD messages that I have seen:
11/17 - DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (tcpip.sys)
11/17 - SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
11/10 - ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY
9/10 - DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION - used memtest86 and found no issues with RAM
9/10 - KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (mv91xx.sys) - think I solved
9/6 - KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED - think I solved

Thank you,

Jace

I've tried to set up a Driver Verifier mini dump but when I activate it it makes a bluescreen when I come back. I follow the instructions to then go back to my system restore point but when I do it then removes the dump file. My assumption is that now I want for another natural BSOD and then upload that dump? Or should I redo the Driver Verifier and in safe mode upload the dump files?

The system just bsod while watching video on chrome. The bluescreen was locked with a sound repeated in background. It did not restart itself as is normal.

I have recently updated my video drivers and I believe all other drivers to be current. I recently ran memtest 86+ for 7 full passes with no errors, but it could still be the memory as the modules are new(about a month).

Ignore the old minidumps as they are the result of tweaking/overclocking my system. The dump of interest is from today and is attached separately from jcgriff.

My system is the same as in my user profile.

Win 7Ultimate 64bit.
Microsoft security essentials and Malwarebytes are used for realtime protection and scanning.

This is the first non OCing bsod I've had on my rig in a long time,

Please help

Unfortunately the most recent was inconclusive. We can do some testing while waiting for the next one. Most often it is memory or driver related.

Please run these two tests.

1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

2-Driver verifier

Quote:
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Hi udin901.

The latest dump gives a notion that BitDefender caused the BSOD.

Uninstall BitDefender. How to uninstall Bitdefender

Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Let us know the result.

Corrupted WoW patch 5.3 caused my game client and eventually entire computer to lock up upon loading into game, resulting in a BSOD.

I redownloaded and installed the entire game client and it solved the problem of the game locking up.

Everything seemed fine until this morning when I woke up to another BSOD. So I thought I would post the dumps and see if anyone had any idea what caused this one and/or the first one.

Thanks in advanced!

Other things to consider:

Removing Daemon tools, as it is a known causer of BSODs:

Code:
Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Lite
If you remove Daemon tools be sure to download and run this tool aswell:

DuplexSecure - Downloads

when the tool runs if the uninstall button is grayed out you are done and can close out of the windows if not click it and allow the tool to do its job. DO NOT click the install button it will install a driver known to cause BSODs onto your system.
You may want to think about preforming a clean start up there are many items in your start up which could be slowing your PC down during boot:

Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

I'm trying to fix my friends Inspiron that has the BSOD. He's been getting it since November and did not know what it was so he just ignored it and kept rebooting it until the message happened to not show up. You can go into Safe Mode perfectly fine with no BSOD. Unfortunately I have no idea what to do. I can't do a system restore back to November. I can't figure out which driver it is and I know it's not one you need since Safe Mode is fine. Unfortunately Windows 7 doesn't give you the yellow marker next to drivers anymore. Anyhelp would be appreciated; especially since this is my first time and I hope I did everything right. If I did anything wrong forgive me. Thanks guys!

But sometimes there is a real bluescreen appearing and it says "an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed" and some other times the "Video TDR error" message has appeared. I've learned that this is a bugcheck 0x116" BSOD and I've read about solutions such as updating Video Driver, check the temperature, updating other drivers and so on. I've tried several video drivers, updated other outdated drivers and nothing works. I don't think its a heatrelated problem as I sometimes get BSOD about 1 min after start up.
Actually I have had freezes like this in periods from about six months after I bought the computer until now(bought it at the end of nov 2009). The first time I solved it by updating BIOS, but know I can't find any new update.
Other "BSOD periods" I've solved by updating video driver and reseting windows to the original "store-mode" so to say :P

Now any solution I can come up with doesn't work and I don't wanna reinstall windows again just for another two months of being BSOD free!

Anyone got any tips, I really need some help!

Minidumpfile attached.

Its the directx driver, video card, power, or heat. I would start by re-installing directX

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception.

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps Let us know if you need help STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

Interesting that you ask in a win 7 forum. We are not set up to handle XP issues but I can tell you the following

These are related to memory corruption. You also need to install SP-3.
These things "may" be contributing to the crashes

Your avast. remove and replace with MSE

Avast can be a contributing cause of BSOD'S . Please remove and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST
http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear5.exe

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
Dtsoftbus01.sys (related to daemon tools) also a known cause of BSOD's. You also have sptd.sys BOTH Need to be removed

I've just installed Acronis True Image to make a system backup so I can try a Windows upgrade I made a bootable ISO of the imaging tool it comes with because I was using a tutorial that said to do so and then boot to that drive use the backup utility etc I boot to the USB drive but it turns out my mouse isn't detected so I decide to just use the in-Windows backup utility I go to reboot into Windows after to Installed boot BSOD now Acronis to 2016, tried USB, BSOD and now Installed Acronis 2016, tried to boot to USB, now BSOD after BSOD I'm getting BSOD after BSOD it's only up for about seconds so I can't get a great read but I've managed to catch what the system seems to be failing on pcw sys not sure if this helps but this is what seems to be causing it I try to boot into safe mode by pressing f on boot but it doesn't bring up the option and just runs into the regular startup BSOD restart loop Very frustrating Any idea on how to fix this

A:Installed Acronis 2016, tried to boot to USB, now BSOD after BSOD

From the F8 menu you should have the option to disable automatic reboot. After selecting that you should be able to view the blue screen and tell us what it says. Also you may not be able to boot into safe mode but we need to know the last listed file. So try to disable automatic reboot and boot normally. Record the error code and then try safe mode. Tell us the last listed file before it stops bootup.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32. To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

To update drivers, make sure to download the drivers from the manufacturer and not using 3rd party programs. Your drivers should be found from your motherboard support site (ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, etc.) or your vendor support site (Dell, HP, Toshiba, Sony, etc.) first. If you have devices you bought yourself, the drivers for those devices need to be downloaded from the manufacturer support site for those devices. If you need help, let us know.

To remove drivers, do so by uninstalling the device or software associated with the driver. Devices can be uninstalled through device manager, and then the device itself should be physically removed from the system if possible.

3rd Party Drivers: The following is for information purposes only. My recommendations were given above. The drivers that follow belong to software or devices that were not developed by Microsoft. Any drivers in red should be updated/replaced/removed. You can find links to the driver information and where to update the drivers in the section after the code box:

When I tried to resume Windows from Hibernation this morning, I got a BSOD with 0x000000E4. Upon trying to restart, I got a different BSOD with 0x0000007B stop code. I have attached pictures of the Blue Screens and the SF files. Thank you for any assistance you can provide. Surf1000

A:Restarting from hibernation get BSOD 0x000000E4 and BSOD 0x0000007B

These two BSODs are pointing to two totally different things. A stop 0xE4 is memory related issue and a stop 0x7B is a storage related issue.

Do three bootable tests stated as below:

► Test your RAM modules for possible errors. How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

► Test the HDD using Seatools for DOS.

► Scan the system for possible virus infection with Windows Defender Offline

Also, update the WiFi network driver: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

Let us know the results.

Hi guys,

I am new on this forum, this is my first post here. I read plenty of other threads but i can`t find the solution for the problems I have.

I am running my system with Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. This works fine after 3 or 4 years, but the last time it crashes every day a few times. I installed all the new necessary drivers. The last driver for my Geforce 8400M GS is released on 15-5-2012. I`ve done 2 clean installations of Windows booting it from the DVD, formatting and install it again, but no result.

Please is there anybody who wants to help me, because i am at a point now to buy a complete new laptop

No Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 70 to 140 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).

You have a 802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win8/8.1 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 and later systems - using older drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have the latest Win8/8.1 drivers - DO NOT use older drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

This device is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?

Multiple Card Reader USB Device USBSTOR\DISK&VEN_MULTIPLE&PROD_CARD__READER&REV_1.00\058F63666438&0 This device is disabled.

Please enable the device and then ensure that it's drivers are fully updated to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version. Then feel free to disable it again if you'd like.

Out of 14 memory dumps there were 8 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case. Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)
- missing Windows Updates
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

Please get a head start on the hardware diagnostics - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.

NOTE: these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive. The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.

Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure - Sysnative Forums

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install".

Please uninstall Speedfan as it's drivers date from 2012

I've been having issues with my new Thinkpad T440s - it will intermittently (maybe 50% of the time) BSOD upon resuming from standby, and VERY occasionally at random times, like browsing the internet. Often, the BSOD screen will be completely garbled, and I am unable to read anything.

A little backstory on this computer: Right out of the box, I cloned the Lenovo SSD to a Samsung 850 Pro, and installed an 8GB Crucial RAM module. I plan on running memtest86+ for a day or two when I return home, but at the moment I don't have access to my bootable USB drive.

I've attached the ZIP with my 4 most recent minidumps (I ran CCleaner a few days ago). Please let me know what else I can supply.

A:BSOD/Garbled BSOD when resuming from standby, 0x3B and others

Hello, paulharmo and welcome to the Forums. I will try to help you. Apparently when you ran CCleaner it deleted some of the dump files. It is set to by default. But we did have a few to work from.

   Information
Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask

I have tried updating windows and GPU drivers, checked temps and they seemed fine. It only happens during that one game and no other apps, surfing, or games. I tried messing with video and audio settings in game. No luck on anything. I saw some other threads where users posted the BSOD report and were helped greatly, so here it goes... Hi guys, can anyone please help my problem, I had my PC crashing almost everyday, and several times a day. Please find my attached collection of memory dump & PC Health report.

Thanks very much!

I am on Windows 7 Ultimate x64
- x64
- the original installed OS on the system - Ultimate
- an OEM or full retail version? - OEM
- OEM = came pre-installed on system
- Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer

- What is the age of system (hardware)? - newly bought less than 2 months
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) Did reinstalled.

A:Frequent crashes (BSOD) on the new PC with BSOD Dump attached

95% of the crashes are memory corruption. Let's start off by testing the memory

Please run these tests and report back the results
1. Memtest86 - Run for 7-8 passes - RAM - Test with Memtest86+
2. Prime95 - Run all three tests for 3-4 hours each or until fail - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...t-prime95.html

Hello, tbrown26. I will try to help you with this.

None of your dump files were overly definitive, as usual. The first thing I would like you to do is fill out your system specs in detail. Sometimes we have to look up a component and Manufacturer and model number helps us to do that.
Please fill out your System Specs

   Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. System Info - See Your System Specs

After completing that please open a elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.

It indicates that the CPU is failing to bear the stress, so the BSODs are obvious.

Welcome aboard, EvilPengy.

Let us start from applying a known good stable driver version.
Download and install Driver Fusion.
Reboot the computer in Advanced Boot Options, safe mode. Search Driver Fusion in your start menu, and remove all components of your nVidia display driver.
Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, Drivers > Beta and Legacy; search there with your cards particulars for GeForce 306.23 Driver, dated 13.9.2012 and install it.
Then, stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

Hi all. When booting up my PC it causes a BSOD at the Window password screen displaying the error 'Driver_irql_less_or_not_equal'. The only way I can start the PC is by booting whilst hitting F8 and choosing 'Last known good configuration'.

I've tried to do a system restore twice but it caused a BSOD both times. I am running Windows 7 64 bit.

Please help?!

A:BSOD 0x00000124, A0000001 and random Shutdowns without BSOD

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Also the MSINFO32 you uploaded it corrupt. So upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
BTW, a stop 0x124 is a hardware issue, and you may follow Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try. ATM cannot suggest anything more due to lack of data.

And a stop 0xA0000001 is associated with ATI/AMD display driver; inbuilt and inherent in it. If this error is followed by a driver update, try to Driver Rollback. If it is taking place irrespective of the driver version, change the GPU.
