How should I recover lost files on my usb using a File Recovery Software?

Q: How should I recover lost files on my usb using a File Recovery Software?

A follow-up to my previous thread:
http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic127696.html" target="_blank" class="invilink">http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic127696.html

I, with the help of other generous members, have concluded that my USB drive has automatically deleted the important & only files that I had on the drive... is there any file recovery software besides Recuva that are freeware and can restore the files from USB?

Anyone who needs more information is kindly requested to go back to the original thread ( http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic127696.html ) and he/she can infer what I am referring to.

Thank you in advance.

Preferred Solution: How should I recover lost files on my usb using a File Recovery Software?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: How should I recover lost files on my usb using a File Recovery Software?

there are several software that you can use.
When it comes to recovering lost files, I prevfer Runtime's GetDataBack for FAT or NTFS, your USB Flash drive will most likely be running a fat file system, so use GetDataback for FAT.

A:recommendation for recovery software to recover folder lock files

Hello,

What do you mean when you say folder lock files? Do you mean it has the little lock icon next to the folder?

As for recover programs, we have used Easeus Data Recovery before which has worked well.

Also, I have moved your thread to another area on the forum as its not a network issue.

My friend in california had some issues with his computer, so he put a recovery disk his friend gave him thinking it would help him. The recovery disk created a D: drive partition that says recovery, and his computer is much slower to where he cant use it.

He says he should just reinstall windows, that he lost everything already. I told him to wait till I find out more answers.

1) how can we recover lost files that could be in the D: partition
2) what is causing his computer/internet slowdown
3) why did his computer not load windows and asked him to use a recovery disk

A:Recover Deleted Windows 7 Recovery Files from Recovery Drive

You might be able to use a free recovery tool like Recuva or MiniTool Partition Wizard. But there are no guarantees that all deleted files will be recovered or that they will be in a usable condition.

Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download

MiniTool Partition Recovery

It may be safer to contact HP support and buy a set of recovery disks for your particular machine. I'm taking a guess that you are in India?

my system recently crashed,
showing a message " windows can not start because the following file is missing or corrupt \windows\system32\config\system". so I used my XP start up disk which ran the system recovery. I now find that all my files/data is missing and the system has gone back to it's original settings. After searching TSF I see "Getdataback" is an option. Can you tell me is this a good program to use? Will it help my problem?

Hello, hope I come to the right place! Honestly, my Toshiba flash drive has been used for saving some videos, photos and files for several years. But, last night, I just formatted it by mistake and lost all my stored information. Honestly, I did have another copy of these files on my computer, but, some of the newly edited videos and several school documents have not been backed up yet. Is there any data recovery software that can help me take them all back? I did have searched a lot of the related problems over the internet and all of them recommend me to apply the related data recovery tools. But, I am not sure whether the related data recovery tool is really necessary? Do you have any similar experience? What am I supposed to do now? Thanks!

Have you tried any programs for "undeleting" the files? The sooner after deletion that you try it the better the chance of recovery. hxxp://www.easeus-deletedrecovery.com/ has a free download that will allow you to recover 1GB of files without charge.

Last night when I was planning to continue to write my paper for the final semester of my sophomore year, I found that my paper was gone and I tried to find it everywhere but I got no trace of my paper. I tried to recall what I did to my Dell Laptop, then I remembered that the day before yesterday I deleted some useless files and documents from the hard disk for releasing more space and speeding up my PC. And I emptied the recycle bin immediately. I was so helpless and got no idea how to deal with it.  I don’t really want to start to rewrite from the very beginning again. Is there any way to do free hard disk data recovery? Is it possible to do hard disk data recovery? Who can help me? If you know some good hdd recovery software, please reply me. Thank you!

A:Recover Lost Files?

It's odd that all of your restore points are gone. If you had just booted up, you could undo the last restore, but I think thats far gone by now. Open up system restore and check, it might still work.

If not, you could use a recovery program, such as "Undlete" to restore the files. There are a few free utilities out there that will do this for you. Just google "recover list files". I use R-Studio, which works real well.

Good Luck!

A:Lost files, how do I recover, help!!!!

There are recovery programs but there is a catch.
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/pcinspector.html

You must immediately stop using the computer, every operation risks over-writing the data you want to recover.

Also you cannot recover the file (assuming it's available) back to the same hard drive.
You need to take out the hard drive and slave it to another system using XP or 2000.

Try the recovery from there, but you will have to "take ownership" of the files.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308421

Recovering the file from a routine backup of your valuable data is much easier, and something you may choose to consider doing after this?

My daughter was dragging a word document that she completed from her wireless laptop to the dinning room desktop computer (wired to the router). The file disappeared from her computer and never showed up on the dinning room computer. I thought usually the file is just copied and not actually moved when you drag to a network resource. Also, sometimes, my router is intermittent. I don't know if that is the problem, just wanted to add it to the mix. Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi, my first post here...

My friend recently lost (no idea how, says she clicked on some "buttons") over 20 pages of her Word document she was working on. Unfortunately she didn't save it on disk or made prints. Now, she didn't use her PC after that file was lost, so I guess there was a slight chance I could find it.
It turned out, that this is not as easy as it seemed: I tried several recovery programs, many of them found that document (differet sizes though), but it was either corrupted, coded (some boxes appeared instead of letters) or transformed into *TMP files. Any idea how could I get the right *.DOC format back or which tool to use to succesfully discover missing file? Does anyone know, how to convert that *.TMP to *.DOC since it seems it's the same thing (date and time of modification are the same)?

Thank you for your answers!

Hey guys, I have a very annoying problem with my camera. Last November, I took a cruise on the Carnival Triumph, and while I was on, took a lot of photos & videos. I probably lost my SD card on which I took all of it on. Now, I think I left it at my cousin's house or I lost it. They won't let me into their house to check for the card .

My camera is a 7-month old Vivitar Vivicam 7022. I'm wanting to try to recover the files from the SD card onto the camera. What should I do?

sd cards are made to give things extra storage. if the pictures are on the card then you need to have the card with them on it in order to retrieve them there is no other way

F drive You have to re-boot for the files to be moved with the software so Desperately need to recover lost music files.. i re-booted and everything from my F Drive was gone so basically I saved over my whole F Drive and nothing was transferred anyway So I lost all of the music I downloaded through the years which included thousands of MP s I also lost all the wav files for personal songs I ve made all recording sessions that I ve saved on this computer dating back to all the epidodes of tv shows i kept on there and all the cut segments and performances from american idol episodes I took hours and hours to cut and re-encode over the past years I ve tried numerous file recovery programs like FreeUndelete File Recovery Optimum Data Recovery and even paid for a program called Recover My Files Before using these programs I did a system restore to a day before I saved over the F Drive It restored all the names of the folders in the F Drive but none of the files I tried FreeUndelete and it actually restored almost all of my mp s I don t remember what happened but I ended up losing one of the folders that was recovered that contained most of those mp s I kept trying to get it back but it never came back I tried all the other programs and I was able to get back almost all of my video files but just about all of the WAV s that were recovered were corrupt Not to mention they were all scattered all over the place and it appeared that many of the wav files were not only damaged but also fragmented into a bunch of parts I was able to recover about of my personally made songs that were in WAV format after I looked all over the place and played every wav file that was big enough to hold the contents of a full song Many mp s were scattered all over the place and many were fragmented into little parts and were corrupt as well So I just deleted all of that I went to do another system restore in hopes that I would be able to somehow restore that one folder that had so much music on it in their labeled folders and use the freeundelete tool again However I couldn t restore it to any restore point cause none were made for September and I wanted to restore it to sometime in the last few days of August but it won t allow me to go back to the previous month Any help would be appreciated Is there anyway I can get these mp and wav files back and they won t be scattered all over the place or corrupt I would like them all to be in the same named folders they were in before and have the same file names Finally what would be the best file recovery software to use to try to recover wav s mp s and adobe audition ses files Regards Jeremy nbsp

A:Desperately need to recover lost music files..

Hi Jeremy,
Sorry about your loss, but the data can still be in the external drive - if you haven't overwritten them. Have a look at this page: http://nisheet.jain.googlepages.com/howtorecoverlostfilesafteryouaccidentallywipeyourharddrive

I have not used the program myself, but it seems to work fine. The only thing is that you do not write on the drive E. It might not be a bad idea using a different disk altogether where to put the data as you recover them.

Good luck. Let me know if you succeeded.

I had created a personal.pst file and had set some rules to move a few e-mails over to this file. Eventually, when my Inbox reached its max limit, I even archived e-mail in this file. Now when I had created this long time ago I had set a password and did not remember that. So one day I was trying to clean up my Inbox and after the job was done , just went and closed the personal.pst file. The next day when I was trying to open it, I realized that it had a password and I had forgotten it.

I tried all my normal combinations, but it has been a couple of years since I opened the file and donít remember the password combination I was using in those days at all.

So trying to see if there is any way I can recover this data.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

A:Solved: Recover lost files after deleting User

If the machine is turned off immediately, since every second it runs means more of the files lost, you can use a file recovery program to look for them. In Vista and 7, shadow copies will still be present and can be restored. But not in nearly-prehistoric XP.

Thanks for the alert about the dup. thread. I closed it.

When you don't have a backup I don't know what can be done except for trying recovery software, as you have, or if the data has suddenly become very important there are companies who can, at least sometimes, succeed where free software fails.

Following a number of unexpected shut downs I decided to run the system recovery discs on my old advent 7109 xp comp. These are 5 discs which were made when the laptop was new; They have never been used - until now. The process stopped during recovery disc 2, with the message unable to recover c/136/s3sav3d.in_

since then I can go no further; each time I start the comp it is at the same recovery point at which it stopped.
Is there any hope of being able to fix this? And, in case you're wondering why I'm still using XP. It's an old back up that I use for documents etc

Hi, anyone know of a program that will data recover MPEG-2 movies that were accidentally removed from my Recycle Bin? I have tried several programs, including Recover My Files, GetDataBack, Stellar Phoenix - one found no files, the other found 1300 files (where there should only be about 10), and the other found the right amount, but the files themselves were absolutely huge, so it must have merged the missing MPEG-2s to some of the other movies that weren't deleted.

Can anyone please suggest a way out of this, either by naming a program that can recover MPEG-2s, or a setting that I need change on one of the progs that I've already tried?

Thank you.

I am familiar with System Restore, selecting earlier times, and the often-available option of undoing a System Restore. But I found out (too late) that according to Microsoft, System Restore done in Safe Mode is not able to be undone.

I lost 1,000's of photos doing the system restore, now the only restore point option visible is what I believe to be the new one after I did the restore. Prior to me doing the System Restore, there were a number of times from me to choose from, I just chose one that was 10 days ago.

Is there any software, method, or hack that I can use or do to recover the thousands of photos that were on my desktop and that were in folders on my desktop? It's a 1 TB HD, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mike

A:How can I undo or recover lost files from System Restore in SAFE MODE?

If I lost thousands of photos by running System Restore, the first question I would have is why did that happen? Did you have your photos stored in some Windows system folder?

Or did System Restore malfunction in some way? As I am sure you know, it doesn't normally affect personal data.

You might be able to retrieve something with a standard data recover app like Recuva.

If the computer hasn't been used much since the recovery most of your files will be intact.

The tricky bit is getting them back. The only real way to retrieve your data is to remove the hard drive, plug it into another computer as a second drive and run a piece if recovery software over it.

The first two links are to free recovery software, the third is paid for - this one does work very well.

I am in need of a software that can recover corrupted files. I'm not entirely sure whether using the word 'corrupted' is correct, so let me explain my problem.

I had two 250GB hard drives connected on a RAID setup. My motherboard malfunctioned (manufaturers flaw which I got fixed for free) and to make a long story short, one of my hard drives failed. Failed = it makes a sudden "click" or... "tick" noise when accessing a certain section, and gives me access errors.

My question is - is there a specific program that will allow me to recover as much data as possible from this failed drive?

Thanks in advanced

Hi all, I was using an SD card in the built-in SD card slot on my laptop to store data files. Something happened that corrupted the SD card. Windows 7 still recognizes the SD card and I can see the files on the card, but I can't even copy the files off of it to save them, so that I can reformat the SD card to use it again. What would be the best approach to take for recovering these files? A:Data recovery from drive with lost format, software recommendations please

Oh crap. Something like this happened recently to me when I had backed up some data to an USB thumb drive. It worked fine for awhile, then some weeks later, my PC just couldn't read it anymore (kept saying "disk in drive needs to be reformatted/etc"...and the properties for the drive also showed it as RAW format instead of FAT32 like it would have been usually).

I think the issue is drive corruption, which seems to be fairly common with external devices like USB drives, but odd in the case of an internal drive. The remedy for me was to try to access it from a different system, which was easy since being a USB stick I could try it elsewhere easily. If you can use another system to access the drive, preferably a Linux/Ubuntu based one; it is likely your best bet to recoup the data before its lost permanently. An external HDD kit would be ideal, and they are quite cheap also.

Hope this helps!

I'm trying to recover an entire terabyte, and I don't want a recovery software which will scrap filenames and file structures, leaving an unintelligible mess to wade through. Is there a software which will preserve file names and structures, and possibly allow me to restore only particular directories?

Hmm; Normally any backup software would do this for you.

If you had a secondary copy (say other media to which you did a copy), then this would be a snap.

It sounds as if you only have the original media and you need to recover "whatever is possible".

Well the problem with system restore, it takes you back to that date. I do not believe it will edit those files or not. Might want to check your documents and settings.

To accomplish this go to:

c:\Documents and Settings\(Your user name here) \(users name) Documents (or sometimes just Documents).

Where are all the files your looking for used to be?

Hi when using 'Microsoft Works', I lost 3 pages of text, I was working on. I was transferring some text from various sites at the time. So was aware that certain text may cause a problem. Once before when this happened, the work came back when shutting down & restarting 'Works', but on the last occassion it was lost, luckily I had printed copies. I did want to save on HD as well though, is there any way of retrieving these lost pages? Is there any programs that may help?

Appreciate any help

A:Recovery Of Lost Files? WORKS?

It's not very clear what you did or how you lost files, but if you think thay are still on your drive, shut down that machine immediately before they get overwritten by new data.

Then boot with a CD that can look for the files while Windows is not running, like:
Parted Magic disk partitioning, PC repair, and file recovery tool (Bootable CD or USB image)
If you prefer a bootable USB key, download and run Linux Live USB Creator. Choose the Parted Magic distro, and it will download it and automatically create a bootable USB key.

This CD (or key) contains many useful tools. You can partition, recover files, recover lost partitions, make disk images (by several different methods), transfer files between media, scan for viruses (It can serve as an Alternative Trusted Platform for search and elimination of rootkits and bootkits), examine and benchmark hardware, access the internet, and much more.
Testdisk is on that CD.

I did a non destructive system recover of Windows XP. Now all of "my documents" are missing. I know they are on the drive because the space being used by file is the same. Is there a way for me to recover them.

A:Lost files during system recovery

Here are a couple software programs,
http://www.pcinspector.de/default.htm?language=1
http://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm

I've had the best data recovery using Get Data Back (runtime software) just used it last month, when a customer did a system recovery without backing up their documents folder. However to see what data will be recovered is a free download, to actually recover the data you will need to buy a license $79.00 for NTFS, and 69.00 for FAT

For days I have tried to put back by HP Vista PC in order, even though I got only BSODs.
I was only able to launch the recovery mode, and, using HP REcovery Manager, I have re-installed Vista on a freshly formated disk ( after a backuping my files as recommended). Backup of my files using HP Recovery Manager generated 5 DVDs.

Now, Vista is running again, and I am desperate to get back my files: on the 5backup DVDs, only the 5th one seems to contain a file.
All the 4 other DVDs do not seem to be even formated (windows does not seem able to understand if there is something on them - even the MS DOS command "dir e:" returns an odd message: "Incorrect Function")

I haven't seem similar situation on the forums I have been through.

Is there any means, tools, magic formula or incantation to recover my files ?????????????

Thanks !!!

A:HP Recovery Manager lost my files...

Welcome to TSF!

I suspect you'll have to use the HP Backup and Recovery Manager to restore the files. They aren't stored in a format that Windows can read.

Click Start and type Recovery in the search box, that should find it.
When prompted for the location of the backup file, point it to the file on the last DVD.

Another possibility, is the file on the last disk an executable file (.exe extension)? It may restore the files automatically by double clicking it.

Hi,

I recently performed a system restore on my Compaq Presario using the F10 System restore feature. Prior to doing this, there were two user accounts authorized for the computer. They were both wiped out during this process, however, I was able to recover the files from one of the users. Unfortunately, the document that I REALLY, REALLY need was stored under the other user and I cannot seem to find it. The user name is the same as one of the new users after the recovery. Does this have something to do with it? It is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo important that I find these files. Is there anyway that this is possible?

Thanks so much!

Got lent my bosses hard drive for some films and accidentally pressed "scan & fix (recommended)" which removed a folder with a large amount of movies and changed them all to .CHK filetypes because of a few bad apples. The files are all without corruption. Just need a way to revert them to exactly how they were before windows 'scan & fixed' them.

Otherwise can someone help me on finding a program which scans movies without any reference, just the data from the file and name them accordingly. That would be great

Hi all,

I would assume this should be simple, but I can't figure it out. I had File History turned on an old machine that I'd upgraded to Windows 10. The machine was working fine with File History backing up files to an external storage drive. The machine died recently (motherboard completely not working) and now I have a new machine with Windows 10.

However I want to restore my files from the File History backups I had for my old machine, but I can't figure out how to make it work. Whenever I try to use the same external location as my File History drive it just makes a new backup with a different folder for my new machine.

How is this supposed to work? All the info I has found on the Microsoft support sites simply details restoring files for the same machine.

Thanks in advance.
James

One of our users had a computer hard drive crash. Upon getting back up on another machine, she found most of her email missing. Upon hooking the bad drive to my PC, I found a 1GB PST file, and a 1GB OST file. I assumed her missing mail was inadvertantly backed up to the PST file at some point. We paid 500 dollars to have the drive recovered, and got most of it back. I restored the PST file and she was still missing some email from 2001-2003. I'm considering restoring the OST file, but from what I've read, the OST is an offline copy of the current exchange mailbox. Since this is an old OST, would it overwrite the exchange copy? Any ideas on how to proceed?

It doesn't say anthing about recovering from clumsy dogs and failed partial OS reinstalls but a try before you buy one can be dowloaded at http://www.runtime.org/products.htm.

A sudden impact followed by non-function infers physical damage so I don't know if any software recovery program is going to work in this instance.

Hi, this is my first post so any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have started using windows 8 now as my work PC and wanted to make a recovery drive, just in case.
I have a 128GB SSD (for the Win8 OS) and a 2TB HD for all my work files, videos, photos, music and so on.

I wanted to make a recovery drive so I went to Disk Management and created a small 32GB partition.

Then went onto Create a Recovery Drive. It did say that the drive would be cleared, but I presumed that it just meant that partition.

I now have 1.9TB of unallocated space (that im hoping my files are still on) but im worried anything i try might wipe it for good.

The main reason I think that the files are still there is that the 'formatting' took less than 5 seconds.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hello. I see this post with a user that had the same problem as me.

http://www.techsupportforum.com/f10/...es-115153.html

Same thing. I did a non-destructive system recovery because I had viruses on my computer. My hard drive space is still around 80g like it was before the recovery. I see the my back up folder in the C drive. None of my important files are there. Since hard drive space is used I know they must be there somewhere. I have done a search for my missing files, or even for all files of certain types, my files aren't there. I see in the post above that the user fixed the problem, but to be honest I am having trouble understanding the post and how it was corrected. I get this error on start up. This happened after my laptop froze and I turned it off with the power button.
STOP: C0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file):\System Root\System32\Config\SECURITY or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

I've search and basically have only found two options: system restore of start up repair.

Start up repair didn't work so I guess system restore is the only option. I have data that I don't want to loose, though. Can I back up the data onto and external hard drive even thought I can't boot the system up?

It's a Gateway T1628. Not even two months old. The Gateway people haven't help me at all.

A:Recover SPECIFIC files only from a corrupted Backup file?

If that was possible, your problems would be over.

The backup will likely be a single file, with complex compression. Unlikely a file-by-file collation. Part of it will be a table of contents, which when uncompressed allows the file to be reconstructed to its many discrete files.

Unless you can actually open the file, I just cannot see how you could extract some discrete portions. The corruption is severe enough that the file structure is no longer recognised, so I simply can't envisage how you could take a section of the compressed code to extract anything, as its unlikely to be possible to determine what part of what file it is.

I wish you luck and hope someone has an answer, but doubt that it's going to be a runner.

On Lost forum kept coming up when googling so thought you guys might be able to help out Up for a File Recovery On Lost Ntfs Drive/partition? challenge I have made some attempt myself using tutorials but can t help but think I should have posted first Anyway what s done is done Setup Win XP Pro SP with three logical drives Physical Disk GB SATA - NTFS Logical Drive C and D C containing Windows Physical Disk IDE - FAT converted to NTFS Logical F Physical Disk GB SATA - NTFS Logical G Long story short - some bad new RAM was causing my screen to BSOD and restart Before I could properly diagnose that it killed an audio driver which continued the BSODs even after the RAM was removed a BSOD restart killed one of my hard drives - G Physical Disk Windows would not boot with it plugged in moaned about hal dll missing even though it s not the Windows drive - booted fine without it plugged in and from Windows Recovery Console it was dismissed as having quot Unrecoverable Errors quot when trying to DIR or CHKDSK On advice I tried bootfix which made it an empty GB drive FAT format Loaded up TestDisk from the UBCD which claimed it had one Linux partition I followed a tutorial to scan it in forced NTSC mode but it came up with nothing I then used ADRC Data Recovery to write an NTFC boot sector but all that did was make the drive unreadable Then used a couple of scanning tools PC Inspector File Recovery and NTFS Data Recovery demo neither of which reckoned there were any files However there was some moaning about the number of heads being instead of which I don t understand so haven t messed with Nothing I have done has written to the disk since the crash other than the attempted re-write of the boot sector I do not need data recovery but there are some irreplaceable files in amongst those inaccessible s and s that I would really REALLY like to recover So any ideas here I can t help but feel it might be a challenge as they say All advice appreciated Andy

A:File Recovery On Lost Ntfs Drive/partition?

Each time that you access the disk (even during bootup) the chances of losing your data increase. So limit your disk accesses as much as possible.A data recovery program attempts to check the structure of the disk and see if it can find anything that it recognizes as files. Since you've already performed some of the tests that we'd recommend, I'd have to suggest that you consult a commercial firm that specializes in this sort of thing (and they are expensive!).Other things to try would be the NTFS GetDataBack tool from http://www.runtime.orgIt allows you to scan the drive (for free) to see if anything is recoverable, then you'll have to pay to do the actual recovery (about $80 US the last time I checked)Others here have recommended a free tool called Recuva, and other free tools may also be listed here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic3616.html

A:Files Recovery Software

I haven't used RecoverMyFiles so I can't comment on it but you can try Recuva. That should help you.

I would like some non-bias opinions on PST recovery software from some techs.
Is there a decent PST recovery software out there worth the money? Have you used it, and did you have a decent experience for the price?

some times we don't make backup or the backup itself gets destroyed then we need a file recovery software
my old experience 2010 i was a newbie and a curious one i did many experiments on my pc one was simple
was installing linux and i had no idea about it just wanted to try accidentally i repartitioned whole hardisk
and there i was with all the data lost i again reinsalled windows obviosly repartitioning the hdd again
and used RECOVER MY FILES it recovered almost all my data and the once which i wanted badly
since then i am using it for accidental deletion and its awesome
i also used it on my friend's pc which was infected by ransomware and was able to recover a few files
more could have been recovered if the sectors were not over written
which recovery software is your favorite ?

A:Best file recovery software ?

saket, thank you for an interesting and enlightening description from your positive experiences with Recover My Files!
I voted for Recuva File recovery primarily because it was the one program from the list I'd recognized, & had downloaded it onto our XP system after reading a good review here on MT. This was also around the same time Microsoft discontinued patching the great and (for some) not so late Good ship, XP. So I didn't actually become as acquainted with it as I'd wished. Now, after taking in the accolades of "Recover My Files", I know which one I'd like to try!

A:Need file recovery software for XP

first of all, quit using the computer, the more you use it, the less likely the file will be recovered.
