Radeon 4800 Fan Speed is 0 at 71 degrees C

Q: Radeon 4800 Fan Speed is 0 at 71 degrees C

Is it normal for the fan speed on my Radeon 4800 to be 0 when the card temperature is 71 degrees C?

Preferred Solution: Radeon 4800 Fan Speed is 0 at 71 degrees C

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Nope.

Download MSI Afterburner, see if you can manually change the fan speed.

Use Driver Sweeper to clean out the old drivers, then try installing the new ones

A:ATI Radeon HD 4800 is crashing my PC.

Also, some additional information: I am running on Windows 8.1.

And I just tried, before it crashed in normal mode, to update the drivers to the HD 4800 ones again, and it crashed to a cyan screen, and the error specified is: "VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE". Also, it might be coming from the outside, but I think I smell a soft fry smell around the pc (I clenaed it from dust yesterday).

I was able to get by for almost a year with this problem, but it's finally starting to get on my nerves.

I have a ATI Radeon HD 4890... I can run fine for a couple hours normally... but if I watch a youtube/streamed video or something, I start getting artifiacts and sometimes I'll get a message saying my drivers have stopped working or something. If I watch another video I'll get the blue screen of death... it's pretty much inevitable that my computer sessions end with the blue screen. But if I wait for 10 minutes I can just boot back up like nothing happened!

I've already tried updating the drivers numerous times... Maybe this card isn't compatible with my mobo, Gigabyte UD3H?

Help please, I'm getting desperate!

A:Had GFX problems for a year [Radeon HD 4800]

A gpu cannot be inompatible with a obo, unless you can't physically fit it in thee board.

It sounds like a heat issue, seeing as you can wait 10 minutes.

Have you checked them to see what the card gets to?

I usually recommend hwmonitor from www.cpuid.com

Temps on the gpu shouldn't be more than 70 or 80C tops

So, I have a Radeon HD 4800 Series card and a 4770 card and was wondering whether it was possible to crossfire those. I have tried just installing drivers (both cards are showing up in device manager) but the installer does not mention anything about crossfire when installing. Catalyst Control Center does not show any crossfire settings either. (I have checked every category).

I have ran furmark once. It did detect both GPU's but only use one.

A:AMD Radeon HD 4800 Series and 4770 Crossfire possible?

Whitehooder, you would need two cards from the same series

Quote:
What are the system requirements for AMD CrossFire??

The minimum requirements to run AMD CrossFire are:

2x or more AMD Radeon? HD2000 series or greater graphics cards that are within the same family model number. E.g. 2 x AMD Radeon HD6770
AMD CrossFire compatible graphics cards
AMD CrossFire supporting motherboard
At least one AMD CrossFire interconnect bridge for each additional graphics card

I read about a similar problem, but as a novice of novices, am not sure that the solution there applies to me. I have a Dell ACPT x64 based PC (8 gig of ram) with a Dell installed ATI Radeon HD 4800 accelerator with two Samsung monitors: SyncMaster 906 BW and a 2033SW.

My problem is that almost every day and sometimes two or three times a day, my monitors freeze up and begin to flash. The computer then dumps everything and reboots. This seems to happen more often when the computer wakes up from sleep mode, but there is no definite pattern.

I am not a gamer, and therefore don't have super heavy demands on my system.

I live in Uruguay, South America, where a friend who runs a ciber cafe tells me that there is a problem with the Radeon Accelerators, and recommends replacing mine. I am certainly open to suggestions.

Thanks!!

Hello,
i recently updated my graphic card driver to the newes version. But now I am not able to select the right display resolution(which is 1920x1200). The max resolution I can select is now only 1600x1200. But this Driver should definitely support this resolution.
Even if I select the option to show me all mods it won?t show me more options.

I tried a lot of other Drivers now and even my old Driver(which worked fine) but non of them seems to work.

- Graphic Card: ATI RADEON HD 4800
- Driver: AMD-Catalyst-15.11Beta (also tried 15.7.1 and 13.4)
- Display: HP Z24i
- Windows 10 64bit Pro

A:ATI Radeon HD 4800: display resolution problem

Maybe changing the graphics driver changed the monitor as well. To make sure it supports all resolutions, you have to replace the monitor with Generic PnP monitor. Click on the search icon and type device. Click to open the Device Manager, then expand monitors, right-click on the monitor and select Update driver. Select last option a couple of times and you should see a list with models. Uncheck the box Show compatible models to see all models. Then from standard monitors select Generic PnP monitor and install it.

Another thing to try is to change the resolution from Catalyst Control Center, monitor section. Or right-click on the desktop, select Display settings., then click Advanced display settings, then Display adapter properties. Finally click on List all modes, select the desired resolution and try to apply it.

try reinstalling the driver if you can, or get e newer version if there is one. if you can't get it off of that pc, burn the driver onto a disc from another computer, and put in the problematic one and quickly install driver

or you could set the screen to default settings while you install driver e.g. (My laptop) Intel Series 4 Express Chipset Standard Monitor. Or Standard VGA Resolution.
hope this helps,

From the CCC ( ATI overdrive):

1. If I let it runs automatically, the fan speed is 27% and the temperature is around 80 degree at idle.

2. If I enable manual fan speed and set it to 35%, the temp is now around 54 degree at idle. Is this number OK?

The problem is I don't know what is all the numbers ( including GPU and memory clock ) when I play games since this card is connected to the LCD by 2 connectors ( 6 and 8 pin ). So what do I do?

A:Solved: ATI Radeon 4670 GPU fan speed

I would let the video card automatically control the fan speed based on load and temps - as you load the card it should automatically increase the fan speed if the temps get too high. Many cards have a default fan speed of under 50%, even as low as 30%. 46 degrees is nothing for a GPU, 80+ degrees under load is normal for these cards and fine. Running the fan faster hasn't really reduced your temps, but there's likely a slight noise increase and there will be a little bit more wear on the fan.

A:Is my 4800 too hot?

Did it hit 92c on load or idle?

On load it's pretty hot but still acceptable. It could be due to a warm ambient temperature or inadequate air flow in the case. Or maybe just that the card runs a little hot.

On idle it's a serious issue.

It would be better if you gave us a few more specifics regarding the make and model of the card.

Just about to order the heart of my new dream rig from Newegg and have a real dilema....the excellent 4800+ for $800 or the new FX-60 for $1400? Love the FX line for gaming, but is the new CPU THAT MUCH BETTER performance wise that it's worth the extra $600?

I'm getting ready to build a new computer and was wondering if it's worth it to spend the extra money on the 4800 over the 4400. Money isn't really the issue, although I won't spend $1000 on the FX-60, I just wan't to spend wisely. I may overclock some, but not much, so I basically need straight out of the box power. I do game often, but mostly recode and burn movies. I defianately want to go dual core to be future proof, and have had my mind set on the 4800, but thought I might give the 4400 some consideration since it's about $200 less. I already have an athlon 64 3400 which is 2.4 , so I want to make sure I don't lose much by going to the 2.2 X2 4400. I'm also using a 300 Gb Maxtor diamond max 10 SATA hard drive, adding 2GB OCZ ram, and a Radeon X1900XT.

Hi,
My PC currently has an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ cpu running at a stock speed of 2.5GHz. A few days back, I overclocked it to 2.625 GHz. The temperature of my cpu, according to the SpeedFan software, remained around 25 degree C. My computer has been running just fine for the last few days. Now, I am wondering, is it worth overclocking this processor for such a small gain since I understand that overclocking a cpu can shorten its life expectancy?

Thanks

A:Overclocking an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+

Your tiny overclock of 125MHz will not shorten the life of your processor because you didn't raise the voltage or add any significant heat.

It is supported. For a list of compatible processors for a given motherboard, you can always go to Asus' website. Here's yours: http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=DzbA8hgqchMBOVRz&templete=2

Click on the tab, CPU Support List.

Hey guys, Just thought I'd chime in and throw a thoughtful tip out there. If your thinking of purchasing any sort of ATI 4800 Series card, don't expect to over clock it. They seem to be what you see is what you get.

When and if you try, your computer will cease to function correctly until you restart in Safe mode and uninstall the program which you used to over clock it, or B start windows from the boot loader screen on hitting the INS key (this is not proven to work every time).

Catalyst 9.2 has a nice over clocking program which comes with it in the catalyst control center (CCC), but the only remedy to this is when you over clock it too much, and it fails, on your next boot it will go back to the state at which the settings were set before.

Hope this avoids some headaches in the future.

I have bought this graphics board for which ASUS does not supply a User Manual!
My main problem is about using the Video-In capability. As I cannot find any control software for the board, at the exception of some working parameters, I tried to connect the S-VHS output of my video camera to the board, through the adaptor cable, in the hope it would detect it and the display was made. Nothing happened.

Does anyone know how to work with this board, or where I can get detailed information?

Having asked questions on this forum and the W7 forum, I have successfully installed W10hp 32bit on an old socket 939 Athlon X2 4800+ machine. It was suggested that 64 bit was also likely to work. Microsoft's upgrade would not work because the processor lacked the correct instruction set. I found that a clean install from an iso, I burned a dvd, but a usb would also have worked. The 32bit installation only used 11.5gb of the ssd and activated fine with the W7 product key.
I wonder how many people who want 10 have been put off by the upgrade path requiring higher specs than a clean install?

Hello first post so i apologize for the noobness in advance I recently had problems with this network adapter and I ve tried everything from reinstalling drivers to not allowing windows 4800 WDN Link keeps TP dropping. to TP Link WDN 4800 keeps dropping. turn it off to save power I ve tried managing the throttling and I ve tried closing every single program The problem is when I am surfing normally it seems normal but as soon as I try a game that requires a lot of bandwidth for example League of Legends it begins normally but as soon as the minute mark hits I get ping spikes like crazy I was using a Buffalo USB adapter for the longest time and I thought it was the adapter itself but when I moved the the TP Link one which has way higher transfer speed and antennas I thought it would change But it hasn t I ve put in this adatper for about weeks ago and nothing I ve tried has fixed the problem nbsp

You have so many different causes that we have to start somewhere. with that many causes we must think hardware. The first thing to check is memory
Download memtestx86 and run it for 5 passes.

If it passes run a system file check
(type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow)

Let us know the results

I was browsing through dual core processor reviews and saw that the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ was the best. I looked at prices at shopping.com and several other sites and was confused. I found two processors with identical specs except for L1 cache sizes. One had 128 KB, and the other had 256. The price was also three times larger for the one with the larger L1 cache ($310 vs. $1083.) They had the same model number (except the pricier one had AMD at the beginning, but it varied on other sites). I am now confused. Is it some kind of typo? And if it isn't, why do that have the same name and model number? Also, would the larger cache be worth the extra $773? I know caches are important, but how important?

I've tried uninstalling my drivers and manually install it from a list as a Ti4600 but some applications still crashes.

It's hard for me to point out at which applications will crash and which will not. I know Futuremark's 3Dmark2001 SE crashes at different tests each time. Some games I'll have no squeek of a problem at all. Unreal 2 worked fine, but Jedi Academy will crash every so often. You could point to the different engines used by the games I guess.

Anyone heard of this problem? Seems like I'll have to buy a different card.

Hi and welcome to the forum Xerox don't even have a Windows 7 drivers, only a beta drivers for Windows Vista , so your best bet will be to plug it and see if Windows 8 can install a generic driver for it. HD series an everlasting solution or a milestone for AMD As many people know AMD has just released the all 4800 HD an AMD? a milestone series: for solution or everlasting new HD series of video cards the HD 4800 series: an everlasting solution or a milestone for AMD? cheap welterweight HD the heavy-duty HD and the red devil that will be coming soon the HD X The cards are awesome in action on game benchmarks and even break into the game that was known to put computers down to their knees Crysis especially when Xfire d together But what really got me curious with these to-good-to-be-true graphics solutions is how AMD did it in order to earn the performance crown and to see if there are some downsides of these improvements which should be noted to today s enthusiast or gamer One of the most biggest improvements is that AMD completely redesigned the Core s ring bus which can be shown here http www anandtech com video showdoc aspx i amp p With this big change the HD series is almost completely immune to Anti-Aliasing performance impacts on most of today s popular titles such examples are shown here I guess for the low res gamers the freedom of no jagged-lines is just something you can t get enough of But AMD s go a long way to make framerates in the hundreds a dream come true http www anandtech com video showdoc aspx i amp p Now moving on to Xfire performance since Xfire is by the looks of it in this series blood I feel like showing it off as its more than true http techreport com articles x http www anandtech com video showdoc aspx i amp p NOTE If Xfire performance doesn t kick in on DX Nvidia games like Crysis you are probably on an X or P based motherboard as they don t support CrossfireX too well also the fact that ANY of today s Intel motherboards don t scale well with more than two of these cards so thats another thing to worry about Rumors say that the upcoming X and P chipsets might resolve most of these performance issues Even though ATI looks pretty good so far with this new generation of graphics cards wherever you go to them in degrees celcius it will look pretty bad These cards seem to have a good future in cooking not cooling as the fan speed in the BIOS is low I assume that this was somewhat necessary to achieve in power saving as these cards will be like its older chunky power user the HD XT as it will reach over watts if not managed Some people managed to overcome this problem by doing a little bit of advanced tweaking in profiles I m waiting for revisions from Sapphire as they know a lot on how to solve these cooling problems without much dependency of more wattage take the ATOMIC or TOXIC series as examples of great cooling solutions The temperature readings of these cards can be viewed here http techreport com articles x I m pretty sure AMD will solve these problems some day but in the mean time make sure that your components meet up to expectations When it comes to an Xfire setup it should be installed in a well ventilated case or a case with a good number of case fans or else your at risk of lowering the lifespan of these cards I really want to buy one of these cards as they are now legendary in performance but due to the problems I ll have to wait until they are solved or if that bad replaced Either way I guess time will tell nbsp

Questions,

Whats the cause when system reboots itself? voltage? - FSB to High?
Whats the cause when sytem it locks up or freezes? memory?

how are the temps , as allways theres no qurentee what you will do as each board varies from one to the other . allways check the temps , cpu , Nb , ram and mosfets ( kind of odd one them are but they do get warm or hot and a lot of people overlook these lil guys ). apply volts only when nessery and watch them temps constantly ......

My first thought would be to agree with you on the Power Supply. If this was an 'off the shelf' machine originally the PSU may be a little stretched with the new card, it may also be a fairly cheaply made PSU which will effect it.

If you can get hold of a good quality PSU to test it that may be worth a try, at least you could confirm / deny the PSU as source of the problem before paying out for a new one.

Hi,

I scanned a picture on Microtek scanner and was tranfering it to photoshop when I saw photoshop embeded profile mismatch that has use the emdeed profile or covert document's color
in the working space or discard the emdeed profile. which embeded profile do you use for the photos? I attached the shot of the embeed profile from photoshop. Can anybody help me?
Thanks,

A:Microtek ScannerMaker 4800 tranfer to Photoshop problem?

Color profiles are a study in themselves. You can determine both the output profile of your scanner and the working profile of Photoshop. you can also profile your monitor with Photoshop or expensive profiling software.

sRGB closely approximates the profile of most monitors that havenít been profiled. Anything you want to put on the internet or even send by e-mail will probably look close to what you are seeing if you use sRGB. If the e-mail recipient is reading the image with a program that can use the embedded profile it will look like your Kodak profile, but many just view stuff with Internet Explorer which is close to sRGB.

I think the Microtek defaults to Kodak and Photoshop to sRGB. You should have the choice of either with the scanner and there are dozens of profiles available for Photoshop. I use Adobe RGB as my working profile, but switch to sRGB for anything I want to send or put on the web. The Adobe RGB or Kodak is better for printing as you get more color data sent to the printer, but good photo printers need profiling as well.

Now that you are completely confused I would choose the Kodak or Adobe RGB for printing and sRGB for anything to be sent or posted. Either Kodak or Adobe RGB will look richer in Photoshop, but you would be disappointed with something you published on the web. If you work in sRGB, you can boost the saturation a little so it looks good to you and it will look the same on a website.

You can go to Image>Mode>Color Profiles and switch between profiles to see how they look to you. Just keep in mind that the one that looks best might not look the same online. It isnít necessary to import the image as sRGB to Photoshop. If you decide to post the image you can switch to sRGB and make any adjustments to make it look good on the web before posting it.

Hello,

I just installed Speccy, and was horrified to find that my both cores of my 2014 Lenovo ThinkPad are running around 235 degrees! And that's with nothing running except normal boot programs.

I've opened up the bottom to check for dust, but the laptop's still only about a year old, and there was very little dust inside. I've checked my running processes with Process Explorer, and found nothing that looked untoward. What could be causing this extreme temperature?

Hi! The past two days, the Infernal Machine (OS WXP Pro) has frozen stiff on two occasions, causing me to lose some hours of work. Everything has stopped dead, the light on my graphics tablet has gone off, no response from pen, mouse or keyboard. All restarted fine (using restart button) and I've had no error messages or anything else untoward.

Norton virus scan & Ad-aware say all is clean.... Is there some particular reason these things happen, are there many possible causes, or is it just "one of those things" and I perhaps should save stuff at more regular intervals in anticipation?

Grateful for any suggestions....

So I made my first custom build pc recently and my specs:
Motherboard: Z97 GAMING 5
CPU: Intel 17-4790k
GPU: Gigabyte Geforce G1 GTX 970 4GB
Ram: 16gb ddr3

In my MSI software (MSI Command center) it goes around the 85 degrees when I play Battlefield 4 on ultra.
Is the motherboard temp the same as the CPU temp? and is 85 degrees too much?
I do use the stock cpu cooler.
Also I have a 200mm front and a 140mm in the back.

A:Motherboard at 87 Degrees?

Download HWiNFO64 and use this software to compare temps. Not saying there is anything wrong with the MSI software, but there is always a possibility that it is not reading the correct temps.
Also, do you overclock? Overclocking will affect the temps, especially if you are still using stock coolers.

Hi. I've been lately noticing outrageous temperatures on my CPU. When in idle, it rarely drops below 80 degrees, and when playing/browsing/basically multitasking and the CPU usage goes over 50%, it peaks to 105, 106, 107 degrees. I know I should be worried, and I am. What can I do? Dust the fans off? Other solutions?

A:CPU Temp over 80 degrees C

dust off the fan, check that airflow isnt restricted, and that any vents/panels arent obscured.

It could be that the TIM on the heat sink was poorly applied and or of poor grade. it might be worth buying some new thermal paste and reapplying it, but it would also be worth investing in an aftermarket cooler while your at it.

But if this is a laptop(as it isnt stated) then similar measures need to be done, but its far greater work. plus not all laptops use TIM, ive worked on a few that use other methods but meh.. i wont go into that

Hi nostaw5,

Perhaps you should check out the processor with Intel's processor diagnostic utility at: Processors — What is the Intel? Processor Diagnostic Tool?.

Are you absolutely certain this processor is compatibile with the rest of your system (motherboard, BIOS, chipsets, Vista 64-bit,...)? I'm unable to verify this one way or the other.

Good luck!

That temp is linked to your power supply, but it's bugged for a lot of systems, so it might not actually be that temperature.

Especially when all of your over temps are fine.

Hi all, I've got what could be a bit of a problem.

Basically I checked my CPU temperature using the BIOS system health section and I noticed my CPU was at 75 degrees C, which obviously got me a little worried, and it continued to increase whilst I was in the BIOS and got up to a little over 80 degrees C before I shut down the system for the night.

Bear in mind the system temperature was at 40 degrees C and only increased by a degree during the time I spent in the BIOS.

I was wondering if this is normal or if I should buy a new cooling system for my CPU?

Specs are as follows:

Motherboard: Foxconn 945gz 7mc ks2h.
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 1.6Ghz.
I'm running a 550v power supply as well if that has any impact.

Cheers.

A:CPU hitting 80 Degrees C?

I would check to verify the CPU cooling fan is turning, and that the heatsink is properly attached (sometimes the plastic clips on the motherboard break off). If those are both good you could try reapplying thermal paste.

I don't think your power supply would have anything to do with this.

I tried fiddling with the controls on the monitor but could not fix it this way. I have a ECS PM800-M2 mainboard and a intel Celeron D Processor @ 2.4g using a stock (in the box) HS & HSF. The CPU temp in the bios reads 106 degrees C.

This doesn't seem possible for the puter to run at 106 degrees C and the air coming from the HSF and the case is cool.

I installed speedfan and have the following temp readings:
Temp 1: 36 degrees C
Temp 3: 20 - 40 degrees C
Temp 2: 105 degrees C

The puter runs fine, no shutdowns.

Anybody else having this problem?

hello,
i have a fujitsu siemens amilo xi 3650 laptop.
very nice laptop, though the gpu gets to 100 degrees celcius so quickly.
as this is a forum with lots of people reading, and as i hope lots of very advanced tweakers and windows 7 users.
i am hoping somebody knows how to get the fan of a laptop running faster.
(acpi somebody?)

thanks in advance.

ps sorry if i have posted this thread in the wrong sector.

Hello Gnarly,

Unless your motherboard supports it, I don't think it is possible. Download Speedfan; that will show you all that can be done.

I have an ATI Radeon 4800 series graphics card in my DELL Dimension e510 computer and was wondering if anyone has any ideas how to get my card to run cooler...

Despite all i have tried my card runs at about 85 to 90 degrees while idle and about 95 to 120 degrees while activity is higher.

Stuff I have tried:
-Kept my case open on the side
-Adjusted fan speed to 100 percent
-Changed thermostat temp. in my house down by 3 degrees
-Changed overclock settings
-Lowered FPS limit in games to 55fps
-Updated CCC

Stuff I am not willing to try:
-Adding fans to my system as I don't think anything else will fit in my small case

I noticed this problem while running starcraft 2 when my card completely shut off to protect itself from overheating. It now overheats anytime i play and runs very hot in other games as well...

Any ideas?

Hello. I have lately been noticing the temperature on my CPU and Motherboard is really high. Its usually 70 degrees C but once I start gaming and code Java in background it will go up to 80+ degrees C. I am really worried. What can I do to prevent this to happen? Why does this happen?

A:CPU and Motherboard Temp over 80 degrees C

Holy Symbol,
Welcome to SF. When was the last time you opened up the case and cleaned it complete? Understand that computers are really just room air cleaners and heaters so keep 'em clean ! Also a riser or laptop cooler helps...but not with dust and dust bunny's. I use air in the intake and a vacuum on the exhaust with the lappy turned off or better yet open it up and some designs allow direct access to the guts and makes easy to blow out and clean fan with q-tip!

Hi folks,
I got a bit of a shock when I just opened Speccy to see how my graphics cards were going, because they (2x) generally run on the "warm" side (one at around 60C and the other around 80C) ... which, even though this PC was built "professionally" and has quite a number of fans ... is quite warm.

But the shock came when I saw that my CPU was running at 94 deg C!! At the moment, the current reading is ... 91, but it's fluctuated as "low" as 84 C a few minutes ago. It's never run THIS hot before, a bit over the max of 68C but this is now serious!

What's the best way to get the temp down in the future? Right now, I'm gonna turn the thing OFF, until there's been time for some replies from you good people.
Cheers,
BenT

A:CPU temp of 94 Degrees Celsius!

Hi and welcome to sevenforums.
You may need to reseat your cpu cooler with new thermal compound or upgrade to a better one would be my guess. Do you know what kind of cpu cooler you have? i7's need LOTS of cooling at the source. Personally, I'd look into water cooling. Since I swapped my old one for the Corsair H50, http://www.corsair.com/cooling/hydro...pu-cooler.html I've never had another heat issue.
Hope this helps

Been looking for ways to lower overall case temps so I decided to see about lowering my video card's GPU temps degrees! by Lowered 6 temps by replacing the stock thermo paste with Arctic Silver's MX- The result was a degree temperature drop on the card Went from idling around - to - idle Cool The first image is with the stock paste - c the second image is with the Artic Silver MX- paste - c BTW even though the first image is old the temps were Lowered GPU temps by 6 degrees! the same as early as today Unfortunately I didn't think about quot before quot and quot after quot shots until I saw the results thus the old screen shot Anyways If you're handy with a screwdriver I recommend replacing your thermo paste if for no other reason than insuring Lowered GPU temps by 6 degrees! the old or stock paste isn't worn out or not properly applied The other reason is if your card appears to be running high temps at idle whatever high temps means as todays cards run hot even at idle At any rate my card always ran around celsius so it's nice to see now Give it a try Incidentally I replaced the Artic Silver paste with the MX- on my CPU cooler and it lowered my overall temps by an average of degrees Later

Yeah, I'm lovin the new non-conductive stuff. I use Shin-Etsu X23.

I have noticed that my cpu wasn't always as cool as it use to be, but I have now noticed (since I installed my ram, whether that's coincidence or cause and effect I don't know) that the CPU is running at 50 degrees Celsius with a load of only 1-5%. It is an Intel i7 2600k with the stock cooler. Any suggestions? Is this normal? Because it use to be closer to 35 degrees at idle.

Thanks

50 is certainly high at near idle, assuming you are in a room with ordinary temps.

But it isn't alarming and would probably run for many years at 50.

What happens at say 70% load?

I would wonder why it had changed.

Have you tried another monitoring application? Have you checked fans speeds? What about temps other than CPU?

The stock cooler is plenty good enough if you are not overclocking.
