Preferred Solution: can't accessing websites

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: can't accessing websites

Lets start with the basics

Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ Win2K and XP only
Install ewido.
During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck both "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
Launch ewido
It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
On the left side of the main screen click update
Click on Start and let it update.
DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.
You might print the next part out to use in safe mode.

Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:

Run Ewido:
Click on scanner
Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
Save the report to your C: Drive
This will take some time to run!
Boot to normal mode
Post that log and a HiJack log. Let me know if you need help with the hijack this app...doc

Ok you guys here is a poser of a question for you all I can access any website on the internet with IE except for two and theses two will I am sure be known to this forum. Untill I am told any different I will not say what these sites are but for some reason I cannot access either of this sites and have been told that my ip has not been banned from theses sites. I was able to access both these sites up untill the 24th Oct 2005 so what I though was if I reformatted my HDD and Install my wins xp home which is authenticated and has a sp2 on it that this problem would be resolved. When I try to access either one or the other of these sites again I am still getting Page Will Not Display but if I use another computer I can access these two websites. Has anyone on the forum any idea what it could be (I have my Suspicions) But maybe I could be wrong. Well I will take a look at the forum and hope someone comes up wiv a answer and to that I will say Thanx Was the other computer going through the SAME isp that you use?

I'm having a strange problem with my main computer. I can log onto AOL and read my e-mail, but I can't open websites. I get a "navigation to the webpage was canceled" message. I've tried various remedies but nothing has worked. The connection is fine, the hardware is fine. I did recently discover a quirk, however...if I go to a saved link to a login page requesting a password, it not only opens that page, it allows me to continue to use that site once I've entered the password. I only have two such links, so there are two sites I can still access.

Any suggestions? I'd rather not have to wipe the thing and start over... Thanks!

I noticed that when I tried to log-on to certain websites, I get the message: Connecting to 10.0.0.2 and it takes an eternity without the webpage appearing.
But other websites are immediately logged on with::"Waiting for......." and the webpage appears soon after.
I am using Windows 7 64 bit with Firefox 24 as my browser.

Hello all! So I have a friend that cannot access the internet. It is not a network stack issue, it was a user issue instead involving mucking up IE and deleting Chrome. There is or at least used to be a way to access a specific website I think from the help screen, but I cant seem to find it. It was like you pull up help (?) and in a drop down menu there was an option to go to a website, you type that site in and it will pull up. Does this ring any bells? Does anyone know how to do this? It may not even be a help screen.. its been years since I have done this. No the friend is not local so I cant just go over and install it.

I haven't heard of that.

However you could install a browser on a USB.

Give it to him then he could install?

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Are you using Norton Security?

Your security settings may be set to high, this can cause it not to open secure web sites. Also, winsock error, which can easily be fixed.

Quote:

If you have XP-SP2 or Vista, you should use the built-in repair for the WINSOCK and TCP/IP stack. If you have XP-SP1 or earlier (and any previous version of Windows), you should use the Automated WINSOCK Fix all Windows Versions. I've included all the resets here.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows Vista.

Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Hi

I have a problem with a friends computer which will not access certain websites, mainly BBC ones, news, weather etc. It also will not stream from a Spanish radio site, but will allow you to download.
The OS is XP and it occurs on any browser, and it started a few months ago for no apparent reason.

It will load the first page of the website then I get either unavailable/timed out or ?Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data? on Chrome

My laptop which has OS 7 works perfectly on the same network, both wirelessly and via Lan.

I have tried all the obvious things including system restore and even installing another XP OS on a disc partition, but still the same results.

Any ideas please?

Hi Merlin, and welcome to TSF.

I've seen quite a few similar issues recently and after trying all kinds of solutions it has sometimes been entries mysteriously added to the hosts file. Lets hope I get lucky again here.
To check the Hosts File press the Windows key + R
In the run box type notepad and press enter or click ok
On the file menu top of notepad window click open and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\Hosts Note; if you don't see anything in the etc folder change the bottom box from .txt to All files
This will open the Hosts file in notepad. Please copy and paste its contents here.

Hello, I installed the Windows 7 Release Candiate build 7100 yesterday and now when I try to access a website via Internet Explorer or Safari(the windows version) and Firefox I get a page time-out message.

I ran the Network Diagnostic tool and the message I get is "Windows could not automatically detect the networks proxy settings".

I am connected to the internet via Ethernet cable to my dsl modem. I restarted the modem, I restarted the computer several times.

The network says I have internet access, but it will not let me onto the internet.
My computer is a HP pavilion dv7-1020US.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I did try un-installing the driver for my ethernet adaptor. Also I am able to connect to the internet on my other computers with no problems.

A:Problem accessing websites!

Ok so update on my problem. I'm able to download windows updates and if I use the 64-bit version of Internet Explorere I'm able to get online.

I included a screenshot of what Internet Explorere non 64-bit says when I run the network diagnostic tool.

Edit: I uninstalled my virus and firewall programs I had, but it didnt help.

If somebody could please help that would be awesome!!

I am using windows xp.

I have also recently scrapped norton from my system thinking it was connected with this but it hasn't made any difference.

Pleas help me you wonderful experts.

A:Trouble accessing websites

Please do this.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

TRACERT mcafee.com

Wait for the trace to complete, then right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Well I have a problem that just started yesterday. My internet got slow and for some reason I can't access certain pages, including my hotmail account, windows update pages, and others. I have done adware, spybot, and updated my norton antivirus to no avail. I have tried shutting off my norton to see if it was blocking me for some reason. Is there a virus that would be doing this? Someone help please, thank you much in advance.

Hi everyone, new to the forum, 1st post.

I have recently bought a new wireless router and installed it and the majority of hte time it works fine. Ever since the new one was installed i have been having problems accessing some websites and images wont load up on others, for example when i go on IMDB all the images for actors pics etc just have the white box with a red X.

i am using windows vista home premium service pack 1, its a brand new PC i only bought in october. the make of the wireless router is Safecom.

i can log onto my neighbours internet and it is able to get onto the websites i cant access form my own but the connection is slow because of the distance.

For the past week when I try to access my banking website, as well as parts of my university website and credit card websites, I get a message saying "The connection was refused when attempting to contact www.xxxx.com" I have tried using IE and Firefox, and the sites are not down because I can access them from other computers. Access to most websites continues unhindered. I ran a full virus scan with updated security files to no avail. Any suggestions?

You could post a log for us to review.
Click on this link: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe Double click on the file and it will install to C:\program files\hijackthis and create an entry in the start menu and an optional shortcut on desktop.

Close out any open browsers and launch the program.
Click on "Do a system scan and save a logfile.
The log will open in Notepad
Go to Edit,Select All, Edit, Copy
Come back to this thread
And press Ctrl+V to paste the log into the thread.

Either the website opens but the articles or links can not be accessed or I get a message stating that Internet Explorer can NOT open or access the website!

The sites exist!! Is this a problem with XP itself? IE8?, Cookies, or with Comodo settings?

I can access several of these sites using Chrome but not all.

Very frustrating,

A:Wireless internet not accessing some websites

Probably not the most helpful answer, but when Time Warner upgraded their broadband access in Syracuse, I had a Linksys router (not-wireless) that had a lot of trouble accessing a lot of pages. Yahoo would work for me, most pages wouldn't though. I replaced the router with a new Belkin Wireless unit and never had a problem again. I believe the old Linksys was simply unable to adapt to whatever adjustments Time Warner had implemented. How old is your router? Mine was probably 4 years old at the time, give or take a year.

Hello and welcome. Please follow these guidelines while we work on your PC:Malware removal is a sometimes lengthy and tedious process. Please stick with the thread until I’ve given you the “All clear.” Absence of symptoms does not mean your machine is clean! Please do not run any scans or install/uninstall any applications without being directed to do so.Please note that the forum is very busy and if I don't hear from you within five days this thread will be closed. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.Press Scan button. It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply. The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

A friend, normally US-based, is traveling in Italy and is having some problems getting to the US-based web sites she needs.
For example, if she goes to a well known website like Netflix, (even if she clicks on the favorites bar or keeps writing www.netflix.com in,) it switches over to https://signup.netflix.com/global and won?t change back.
Has anyone had similar problems? Solutions?

A:Traveling overseas, trouble accessing websites

Yeah, that is a problem - especially in the bigger European countries. You always get the local flavors. I have the same problem in Germany and France. It takes some searching and the use of different search engines (Bing, Google, etc.).

Sometimes the webpages themselves have the option to switch to a different country. Be on the lookout for that.

Hi,

I am trying to load videos at a particular website and whenever I attempt to do so I receive the following, " dwwin.exe- bad image message The application or dll c:\windows\system32\xlibgfl254.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." Does anyone know how to resolve this dilema and what causes it.

Thank you,

I can't access virustotal.com and some other sites very similar to it that I can't remember the name of. When I go to virustotal.com it used to say something like ssl error. Now it's just a white page wich has apparently loaded fully. I'll include a gyazo screenshot link.

What's keeping me from accessing websites like these. Is it a trojan? Malware? I remember I was recently infected but I removed the trojan with anti malware bytes.

Download AVG Anti-Spyware from http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ and save that file to your desktop. Note: This is NOT the Anti Virus from AVG.When the trial period expires it becomes feature-limited freeware but is still worth keeping as a good on-demand scanner.1. Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double click it to launch the set up program.2. Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.3. On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.o Next select the "Start Update" button. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.4. Once the update has completed, select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.5. Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".6. Under "Reports"o Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"o Un-Select "Only if threats were found"Close AVG Anti-Spyware. Do Not run a scan just yet, we will run it in safe mode.1. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning as it may interfere with the scanning process:2. Launch AVG Anti-Spyware by double clicking the icon on your desktop.3. Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".4. AVG will now begin the scanning process. Please be patient as this may take a little time.Once the scan is complete, do the following:5. If you have any infections you will be prompted. Then select "Apply all actions."6. Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.7. Select the "Save report as" button in the lower lef- hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file. This is important).8. Close AVG Anti-Spyware and reboot your system back into Normal Mode.Post the log from AVG and a new HiJack log

Hi
I am having problems accessing certain websites. When I try to log onto www.avfcblog.com for example, I get the following: "internet explorer cannot display the web page". I used to be able to access this but haven't been able to in a while. I use a desktop computer with wireless broadband. Another person in our house uses the same wireless connection on a different laptop and can connect to www.avfcblog.com without any problems. Could this be a virus of some sort? I currently use AVG Free Anti-virus and Ad-Aware 2007.
Any help is very much appreciated.

Hi and welcome to TSF. . .

One thing I'd like to look at first is a file contained within the Vista driver folder that may contain web site names/url's.

Go into Windows Explorer then Computer. Your looking for the following:

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc (subfolders of each other)

Is there a file named hosts?

Upload it placing a .txt on the end and attach it to a post and I'll take a look. OK?

regards. . .

Hello This is my first post here and it's quite a puzzling issue It's a long story so I'll try to summarize it as best as I can Basically the problem is that I can't access websites for the most part from my desktop PC connected wirelessly to my Comcast Wireless Gateway modem router combined but only when I'm on the second floor of my house My Wireless Gateway is located on the - issues internet Wireless websites problems accessing major first floor only about ten or so feet away from being directly underneath the office where my PC is located So it's basically only got one floor to get the signal through Now Windows shows my wireless signal as being really strong usually at least four if not five bars out of five Most of the time I try to open any website like cnn com facebook com etc the browser spins and spins trying to connect until it finally times out and says This webpage is not available for Chrome or the variant message for any of the other major browsers Occasionally I will be able to connect to a site maybe after rebooting but usually only one page will open and then I can't open any other pages after that There are some extremely odd contradictory behaviors and Wireless internet issues - major problems accessing websites other significant points surrounding Wireless internet issues - major problems accessing websites this issue that I will basically list for easy reference I brought my PC down to the first floor and connected directly to the Wireless Gateway WG via ethernet cable and internet worked great I then downloaded a few hundred MB worth of Windows updates since I had recently reinstalled Windows After confirming internet worked via ethernet I then unplugged the ethernet cable and attempted to connect via the WG with my PC only about two feet from the WG Again this worked great - my download upload speeds were just about as fast as when I was connected Wireless internet issues - major problems accessing websites via ethernet I was getting in the range of around - Mbps download and around - Mbps upload Thinking that the issue had been resolved I moved my PC back upstairs to the office turned it on but again the same problem presented itself - unable to access the internet via browsers Oddly enough when I would open the Command Prompt and pinged sites like google com npr org etc all four attempts completed quickly and successfully This was when I was still connected wirelessly from upstairs My work laptop and both my and my wife's Android phones can access the internet via wireless fine from the same location as my desktop PC Here are some other details and things I have tried so far My PC is a custom build that I put together myself for the first time Everything went surprisingly well as far as the setup and installation - I encountered zero problems through installing Windows and initially getting online The problem with my internet connection only manifested after I had somehow acquired malware on my PC I think from copying my wife's files who had previously had viruses but which I thought I had eliminated So after discovering the malware which was the browser hijack speedial com I then downloaded and ran several antimalware programs such as Malwarebytes Superantispyware RKiller Junkware Removal Tool etc I was able to clear most of the junk off my PC except for the add-on kept appearing in my Internet Explorer browser even though I kept removing it but it was not actively redirecting me as it was before After numerous scans with several antivirus programs it still appeared that I could not get rid of the final remnants so then I decided to reinstall Windows from the disc After the reinstall that is when I could no longer stay connected to the internet I was wondering if maybe something had infected my Master Boot Record and either deleted or altered settings however that doesn't seem to explain how I am able to connect via ethernet cable and wirelessly when right next to the WG Here are things I've tried s... A:Wireless internet issues - major problems accessing websites

I'm pretty embarrassed to say it, but my joy to express that I've solved this problem is overriding my embarrassment, and also I would feel bad if I checked again and someone had responded to my novel of a post, but the issue has been resolved.

The culprit: A metal filing cabinet
I had placed a short metal filing cabinet next to my PC tower, in between my tower and my desk, in order to place my second monitor onto. Well, apparently even though it wasn't on the side that would be closest to the router, it was causing enough interference to nearly completely shut down my internet access. I can't believe it.

Hi, I have a problem accessing some secure sites requiring a username/ password like hotmail, msn, facebook & ebay. This problem occurs across all browsers: IE7 Firefox and Safari. I can browse other webpages fine.

I can access these websites using my laptop (windows XP) using the same wireless connection but they don't work when using my PC (windows vista).

I've had my PC for about a year now and it's the first time i've encountered such a problem.

I've looked up this problem everywhere and tried almost everything but haven't been able to resolve it. I've tried resetting/ changing my internet security settings, turning off my firewall, scanned my computer with a number of spyware removal programs.

tried pretty much everything on here:
http://www.vistax64.com/network-inte...ure-sites.html

*How do you ensure that TCP Port 443 is enabled in your firewall????

PLEASE HELP!!!

A:HELP! Problem accessing secure websites (hotmail, ebay, facebook) across all browsers

Hi. . .

Nice link - I am a member at that site, but please disregard the "solutions" found therein.

Please run a Vista System Health report in HTML format:
START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | right-click on cmd.exe | select Run as Administrator | the black cmd prompt (DOS) screen will appear - type the following:

Code:
perfmon /report
It will take about a minute to run... then save it as an HTML file - you will see the default HTML file extension when you go to save it.

Please zip it up and attach to your next post.

What anti-virus are you running and do you have a 3rd party firewall? Do you use the Windows Firewall?

In the interim, do this as a test:
START | type Internet into the start search box | look up top under Programs and select Internet Explorer (no add-ons).

Can you reach those sites now?

Regards. . .

A:HELP! Problem accessing secure websites (hotmail, ebay, facebook) across all browsers

Hello, powercosmic
Welcome to TSF

My name is Billy O'Neal and I will be helping you. (Billy or Bill is fine, if you like.)
Please give me some time to look over your computer's log(s).
Please take note of the following:In the meantime, please refrain from making any changes to your computer.
Also, even if things appear to be running better, there is no guarantee that everything is finished. Please continue to check this forum post in order to ensure we get your system completely clean. We do not want to clean you part-way up, only to have the system re-infect itself. :)
If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing. I would much rather clarify instructions or explain them differently than have something important broken.
Finally, please reply using the button in the lower left hand corner of your screen.
Old topics are closed after 3 days with no reply, and working topics are closed after 5 days. If for any reason you cannot complete instructions within that time, that's fine, just put a post here so that I know you're still here. We get a lot of people who simply leave, and if there is no contact for that amount of time I will have to assume you have "vanished" .

We need to create an OTViewIt ReportPlease download OTViewIt by OldTimer.
Save it to your desktop.
Double click on the icon on your desktop.
Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
Push the button.
Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:OTViewIt.txt <-- Will be opened
Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized

We need to scan for rootkits with GMERPlease download gmer.zip and save to your desktop.alternate download site 1
alternate download site 2

Unzip/extract the file to its own folder. (Click here for information on how to do this if not sure. Win 2000 users click here.)
When you have done this, disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
Note: There is a small chance this application may crash your computer so save any work you have open.
Double-click on Gmer.exe to start the program.
Allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
If it gives you a warning at program start about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run a scan...click NO.
Click on "Settings", then check the first five settings:System Protection and Tracing

Hi, I am using windows vista and avg free edition. The viruses/malware avg picks up have been:
Trojan horse Generic28.JRZ
IDP.Program.D1B0A5C0

It's completely blocked google chrome from working i.e. it closes as soon as i open it. I'm using firefox 12 at the moment. Any virus removal website i try to access is blocked. I tried to follow the steps you give before seeking virus advice, but it blocks me from accessing the website to download HijackThis.exe.

Do I have any options other than a complete reformat?

Thanks.

Sorry for the waitPlease open your hosts file and check there are no blocked entries. Then can you download malwarebytes and the updates file so you can do the whole process offline (This is from one computer onto a cd or pen drive etc and then transfer it across). Then follow the instructions below but ignore the downloading and updating bit (when you get to the update bit please double click the updates file to apply the updates check the bottom of the post for the updates file link). Please download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware to your desktop.Ensure that your computer is connected to the internet and your software firewall is disabled until instructed to re-enable it.Double click on the mbam-setup.exe to begin the installation process. When the installation begins, please do not change any of the settings and follow the prompts. Please make sure that when you finish the installation, these options remain checked; *Update MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware *Launch MalwareBytes' Anti-MalwareYou may now click finish...When MBAM launches, you will be prompted to update before running a scan. If an update is found, MBAM will automatically download and apply the updates and you can then click 'OK' button to close the box and continue. You may now re-enable your firewallPlease ensure that while you are on the scanner tab the 'Perform Quick Scan' option is selected, then click the 'Scan' button. If you are asked which drives to scan, please leave all of them ticked, and click 'Start Scan'.The scan will now begin and you will see ?Scan in progress? at the top; It may take a while to complete so please be patient. When the scan completes, you will see ?The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found?Click the 'OK' button to close the box and continue with the removal process.Back on the main scanner screen, click 'Show Results' to see a list of any found Malware.Ensure that all items are checked and then click the 'Remove Selected' button. When the removal process is complete, a log will open in notepad; this log will be automatically saved and you can view it in the logs section of the program.Copy and paste the contents of the log file that is open into your next reply and exit MBAM.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the Malware. MBAM may make changes to your registry as part of its disinfection routine. If you're using other security programs that detect registry changes, they may alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please permit the program to allow the changes. The updates file can be downloaded from http://www.gt500.org/malwarebytes/mbam-rules.exe

I don't know what happened but some websites are usable but some entirely unusable.
For example I can't go to ebay.com w/out ads on the right side & bottom and then I'm transferred to another website that's unrelated.
Then I'll get a womens voice asking for me to call a # to give $ to "repair" the issue.
Some sites are fine. I use this computer ONLY for simple browsing of mainstream sites & e-mail.
Nothing odd. Even Bleeping Computer has ads on the right side.
Can anyone offer some suggestions on how to repair & prevent from happening in the future?
Thank you from Los Angeles!

A:Help! Websites Showing Overlay Ads & Being Forwarded to Other Websites! WIN7!

Sometime just clearing the browser cache will get rid of the criminal's ad with phone #. Sometime it is adware
and/ or malware involved. Use the programs below to find and remove the cause(s).

Use CCleaner to remove Temporary files, program caches, cookies, logs, etc. Use the Default settings. No need to use the
Registry Cleaning Tool...risky. Pay close attention while installing and UNcheck offers of toolbars....especially Google.
After install, open CCleaner and run by clicking on the Run Cleaner button in the bottom right corner.
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here
Double-click mbam-setup-2.X.X.XXXX.exe to install the application (X's are the current version number).
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
Once MBAM opens, when it says Your databases are out of date, click the Fix Now button.
Click the Settings tab at the top, and then in the left column, select Detections and Protections, and if not already checked place a checkmark in the selection box for Scan for rootkits.
Click the Scan tab at the top of the program window, select Threat Scan and click the Scan Now button.
If you receive a message that updates are available, click the Update Now button (the update will be downloaded, installed, and the scan will start).
When MBAM is finished scanning it will display a screen that displays any malware that it has detected.
Click the Remove Selected button.
MBAM will now delete all of the files and registry keys and add them to the programs quarantine. When removing the files, MBAM may require a reboot in order to remove some of them. If it displays a message stating that it needs to reboot, please allow it to do so.
While still on the Scan tab, click the link for View detailed log, and in the window that opens click the Export button, select Text file (*.txt), and save the log to your Desktop.
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can also be viewed by clicking the History tab and then selecting Application Logs.
POST THE LOG FOR REVIEW.

Download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Scan button.
When the scan has finished click on Clean button.
Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message

Hold down Control and click on this link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
Click the button.
For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
Click on esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
Double click on the icon on your desktop.
Check "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
Click the Start button.
Accept any security warnings from your browser.
Under scan settings, check "Scan Archives" and "Remove found threats"
ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
When the scan completes, click List Threats
Click Export, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
Click the Back button.

Hi reach/access websites, Cannot websites timeout I hope I have posted this in the right forum apologies if I haven't Here is the problem I'm having I bought a HP ENVY t just over a month Cannot reach/access websites, websites timeout ago For the first week days everything was fine I have a good internet connection with TWC and the wireless modem router I got was perfect Then I started to notice that I could not access some of my usual websites I would type in the Cannot reach/access websites, websites timeout URL press enter then wait and wait as opposed to just a day or so previously when I reached tte site instantly Some of the sites would eventually after a minute or so some longer appear but then not completely the graphics pictures were missing links on the side of Cannot reach/access websites, websites timeout the pages were not there Initially I had thought that it was a problem with my internet connection so I called TWC They checked at their end and then checked the modem router and pronounced that there was no problem with the internet connection And sure enough when I tried to download files from the office I had no problems at all I could access the servers and download large files without a problem as fast as I did before the problem started I then called TP-Link My Modem router is a TP-Link Archer CR I thought that there might be some kind of intermittent problem They too checked everything with the modem had me run some tests and while the modem worked perfectly I still could not access an ever increasing number of websites Just on a hunch I went online with my Samsung tablet and I had absolutely no problems at all I was able to surf watch youtube videos download files from the office and generally stay online without any slowing down the entire evening Here is a list of some of the sites I cannot reach when using the Envy-t Windows bbc combbc co ukmicrosoft com nbsp nbsp nbsp google com nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp In fact I can't reach any google related sitesyoutube comgmail com nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp I can't get access to my email except via my cell phone or tabletyahoo commsn comespn comabc commsnbc comzdf de nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp German news siteard de nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp German news siteHP com nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp I'm using my travel laptop to type this uppresto fmlast fmfacebook complayer fmOver different web story and poetry sitesrugby comIPL Indian premier league cricket websitewikipedia comAndroid store sitessamsung comwindows forum sitesTED comTEDX comudemy comkhan academyrosettastone comspace comskymap comnasa govesa orgquora compocket comonedrive comdropbox commediafire com nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp nbsp cloud service like dropboxopensubtities orgallsubs orgsubtitlecube comthefreedictionary comThe list goes on and on One of the first things I did when I got the laptop and had internet access was to download Zone Alarm I installed it after first getting rid of McAffee I have been using ZA for almost years and it has served me well and never caused a problem I have tired to access some of the above named sites and others after first switching OFF ZA but there was no difference Access to those sites was just as bad without ZA as with I am at my wits end I can't think of anything I might have installed that would cause this kind of problem I use Firefox and Chrome and with Zone Alarm covering the three bases - firewall anti-virus anti-malware - I don't use any other security software I switched off MS firewall just before installing ZA on the second day nbsp I have been using my travel laptop for the last couple of months while travelling but now that I'm back I want to get this problem fixed Thanks for your help

Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit, 4 GB RAM, IE 10 installed. Checked HOSTS file to see if any funky entries (found none). When I try Google or my bank's website, I get the standard IE page cannot be displayed. Chrome tells me there is an SSL problem when I try to connect to the bank. I can connect to Google using IE 10 if I run without add-ons, the bank site will not load under any circumstance. Using a different PC from my network I can get to bank site fine, but I need to have it available regardless of the PC I am using. Thanks in advance for the help!

I have two windows 7 desktops connected on a LAN. I do not use the Homegroup sharing (have problem with IP6 on one of the machines) anyway I prefer the conventional standard workgroup share system. Now neither computers use IDs and passwords (left blank). But when I try and access a share on one machine from another, I get the id and password box, yet none are set. And I get stuck here and cannot access shared drives (and have locally set the drive to share with the hand symbol under the drive). How can I access the shares on the other machine. Both are on the same LAN and see each other. Never had this prob with XP although that had its own problematic ways of working at times. Mike

Hi,

If your Router is secure, either by WEP or WPK then you could always disable passwords in the Network and Sharing Center > Advanced sharing settings

I recall that previous Windows always sat on top of our old friend
"DOS".
I know that some of the "F" buttons can get you to some of the DOS commands of old.
I would like to know how I can actually go to the DOS C:/ Prompt and work through it, use it's many commands etc.

I am most interested in CHKDSK. thanks, missfuffy

Neobahamut, if you have another computer you could try accessing your D: drive, and as you said you have the password, you should be able to access the data / remove bit locker encryption completely. Let me know if this helps.

My wife and I have some friends who have a PC which doesn't work anymore, and they gave it to me to try and help. They were using XP.

The overall system is done, but they wanted to get photos from the HD, which are many of family, and they don't want to lose them.

I connected the HD to my system, which runs Windows 7, and can see the folders in question, but can't drag them to my USB stick, or my HD or anything.

It says I don't have permission to view these photos...is there a password they need to give me? Or is this a Windows 7 security issue?

They're anxious to hear some news, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be speaking with them over this weekend, and hope to have their photos back.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Thanks!

A:Accessing bad HDD

Just to make sure, is the cables in correctly... also with the usb cradles, you might need to have the master, slave, cable select in a particular spot (normally master or cable select)..

My Lenovo Y710 has 4 gig of RAM installed, but Vista, of course, only used 3 gig. I thought when I upgraded to Win7 (32bit) that it would use all 4 gig, but system information says it's still only using 3 gig. Is there a setting I can change or perhaps a BIOS upgrade that will cause the machine to use all 4 gig of RAM.

Thanks in advance,
John P. Sparkman

A:Accessing 4 gig of RAM

32-bit OS(s) can only addressed roughly 3.5gb of ram. 64-bit can use all 4gb. However if you have a embedded video card, it will take some of that memory.

I need help accessing my IDE HDD connected via USB SATA/IDE hdd adapter (model usb-dsc9). This HDD was my primary on an old computer running Win7 and still has all the files. I am currently running Win8.1.

The HDD shows in My Computer as a removable disk, with an auto-assigned letter. When I try to open it, I am told to "please insert a disk". It is showing in device manager as USB mass storage device with no errors. It is also listed in disk management under my primary hdd. The hdd is powered by the adapter and I can hear it spinning.

Any help is appreciated,
Nick

Hello,

I'm running Windows 7 and have a friend who has given me a HD from their computer, which doesn't work.

I plugged it into my system, and can access the HD, but keep getting errors saying that I don't have the proper permission to view the JPG's I've been asked to retrieve.

I can't even just drag the files to a memory stick I have plugged into my USB.

What is the way around this? Do I have to find out their password, and enter it somewhere?

Any thoughts

Thanks

I am a military service member trying to access my OWA e-mail and Defense Travel System (DTS) with a MacBook Pro. I am currently running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5. I did not have any issues in accessing my OWA or DTS until December of last year. I understand there was a software update to Mac OS X Lion during this time and this could be the reason.

Whenever I try to login my OWA I get the following error:

Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. The server denied the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Contact the server administrator. (12202)

Whenever I try to login to DTS I get the following error:

Login Error
There has been a problem with your login.
The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later or contact your DTS site administrator for assistance.
Error is: --, dbsign code: 305

I appreciate if anybody can help me resolve this issue.

Thanks.

A:Accessing OWA and DTS on a MAC

Are certificates and ID card up to date? Which browser are you using? I think DTS works only with Safari on Mac. But you should probably contact support staff for both systems.

I have a Trendnet TV-IP110/W IP camera. I set up a free account with a dns company and can access my camera over the net, problem is when I connect it asks for login info and then shows the admin panel to the camera.

Is there a way to type the url and just see the video stream? I disabled direct video stream authentication but it's still giving me logon screen then admin panel.

Does anyone know how to access the BIOS (cmos setup screen) on a Compaq Presario 4716. I've tried every F key, Delete, etc., etc. I have installed a new hard drive and need to access BIOS. Thanks to anyone that can help.

A:Accessing the BIOS

You have to do it at the right time, for a Compaq it's generally when the little square box appears in the upper right-hand corner. Most Compaq's use F10 (I have an old puter which uses ctrl+alt+esc).

Hang in there - someone may come along with the exact answer you need.

Did you make any changes to your OS just before this started happening (adding new programs etc)?

So quick backstory to my issue...

My gf's computer crashed, registry was all messed up. It is a Gateway laptop so I used the Gateway restore cd that backs up the hard drive into a folder then re-installs windows fresh. She was the only user of the computer, he account was set as admin for the computer.

So now I'm trying to get some program data and documents and such from the backup folder. When I try to access her "my documents" folder in the backup folder, it says I do not have the rights to access the folder. Is there any way I can get into these files???

Thanks for any help guys!
