fault with nvCpl.dll on Windows XP

Q: fault with nvCpl.dll on Windows XP

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition.

And for no reason I've started getting this message every time I start my computer:

"Error loading nvCpl.dll
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

How do I stop this?

Thanks!!

Preferred Solution: fault with nvCpl.dll on Windows XP

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: fault with nvCpl.dll on Windows XP

It appears to be a control panel applet for Nvidia display adapter. If you have this video adapter in your system, look for an updated driver.

When I start up my computer, this error message pops up:

C:\Windows\System32\NvCpl.dll Error

Unable to locate the specified module

And then Windows Installer pops up and tries to configure Symantec Anitvirus over and over again.

At the same time, Windows Sidebar either freezes and doesn't come up or when it does the gadgets are all a blue color.

And all the while an "Interactive services dialogue detection" screen comes up and after clicking on it says something like this:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

C:\Windows\System32\spoolsv.exe

And this is all after I tried to hook up my first webcam. Can anyone help please?!

Hi rmcarner, and welcome to BleepingComputer.

Being new here I can understand some confusion regarding where to post a topic of this nature. A more appropriate forum where this type of problem will get the best care is the Am I Infected. I will request that a Moderator move this topic to that forum so our trained staff can get to work on this.

Hang in there, this could take a short while.

Welcome to BC
From www.motherboardpoint.com

"NvCpl.exe is a legitimate file, it is a running service that is
installed by NVIDIA whenever you install a driver. However,
any malware can be named anything and thus the Yanz. B Worm could be
masking as the legitimate nvcpl.exe. Here is how to tell whether it is
the legitimate file or a disguised virus: Check where the files of the
running processes are located on your disk. If a "non-Microsoft" .exe
file is located in the C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 folder, then
there is a high risk for a virus, spyware, trojan or worm infection!

If it is the legitimate nvcpl.exe running service then you can locate
it via your Windows Services.

Go to: start>run>services.msc

and look for the "NVIDIA Display Driver Service". If you see it listed
there and it is Enabled then that is service that is generating your
running nvcpl.exe process. If you wish you can safely disable the
NVIDIA Display Driver Service as it will have no effect on the
performance of your NVIDIA driver. I have had this service disabled
for years with no effect on my NVIDIA video card or driver performance."

Hope this helps.

See if you can go to the Nvidia site and download the driver.

If you cant go to website. Go to search type device manager and get updated driver from there.
Its your graphics driver.

If that presents problems use system restore to go back before you began to make changes.

A:NvCpl error

NVCPL is part of Nvidia's video driver.

Go to Control Panel and ADD/Remove - find NVidia or Detonator and uninstall it. Once thats done, reboot and go here: http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_44.03 Download and run that file and should reinstall the video drivers.

A:NvCpl Dll Error?

Hello Depressive

You can safely disable this from starting at every boot up and it should not bother you again

Start/Run and type in
msconfig
OK

Startup Tab
Keep the page open then go to the link below. It will tell you what all the entries are and whether you can disable them or not. It will also identify any malware. Disable everything which is not needed to run at start up.
You should find NvCpl in there.

http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php

Read the Key at top of page. Use the Search box to check all your entries

When you reboot you will get a message saying you have started in "Selective Startup" Click "Don`t show this message again" then OK

The file Nvcpl.exe is identified as an undesirable program. I would recommend following our "Start Here" malware removal guide. Neilka, I am going to move this topic to our Am I Infected Forum. It will receive better attention there. Thanks, rigelBleepingComputer Forums Moderator

Ok, here goes. I have an Athlon 64 3000+ on an ASUS Motherboard. 384MB Ram, 160GB Hard Drive, Win XP Pro (not SP2) and a Gigabyte FX 9500XT 128Mb Graphic Card. Under my user profile everything works OK, however as soon as I set up a new user profile or try to logon to the Administrators or another profile, the desktop graphics are all over the place, e.g. no icons, etc. If I try to logon to a limited user profile, it gives an nvcpl.dll error and kicks me staright back to the login screen. Anyone have any ideas at all, PLEASE !!! Sorry, forgot to mention that I have downloaded the nvcpl.dll file from dll-files.com. That created more problems. Have removed the graphic drivers and reinstalled them, no change.

Have you recently changed your video card? That file is from nVidia's suite of apps that come with one of their cards. Look for and uninstall any nVidia software (or cards in Device Mgr), if no longer required.

Hi,
I did adaware, spybot and my only concern, I think, is this thing that keeps showing up in msconfig, even when I delete it, it won't let me delete it, but maybe it's ok; it's:

NvCpl RUNDLL32.exe c:\windows\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup

I get different opinions on this, some say it's ok, some say it has to do with a nvidia thing (whatever that is) but then I read it could be a worm? Do I need to worry?

thanks!

My computer takes a long time to boot up, maybe three to four minutes. I have searched everything and isolated it down to the two processes with "Speedupmypc2.0 and Bootvis". nvcpl.dll and ctfmon.exe takes 128.84 seconds each. I have tried everthing that I know (medium knowledge) but have not cracked the fix. All help gratefully appreciated

A:Slow NVCPL.dll and ctfmon.exe

Have you tried disbling those two from the startup?

nvcpl.dll would really only be needed if you have tweaked your graphics card settings (overclocked etc).

ctfmon.exe is part of MS office; info HERE. I've disabled it on my PC with no problems - though i don't need it.

Every time I turn on my laptop, I get the error "could not start C:\windows\system32\nvcpl.dll, nv startup". I have tried to disable the item in startup using SystemMechanic, but it still comes up. It has to do with NVIDIA.
How can I eliminate the error?

A:nvcpl.dll, nv startup problem

Try downloading the drivers for your graphics device. This may help the problem.

Hi all I'm having a minor problem when I log on to my computer, everytime I log on I get an error message that says:

Error in NVCPL.DLL
Missing entry:NvStartupRunOnFirstSessionUserAccount

I am just wondering if there is anyway to fix this error or just to make the message go away? My computer seems to run fine.

Thanks

Hi DrNick,

That file is related to nVidia Display driver i guess the best thing to do would be to reinstall the your Display driver. Go to nVidia's website and download driver and install it.

Hope this helps,

NVCPL-DLL Error "Process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."
I started getting this error message whenever I boot my computer up. It doesn't seem to cause any problems, but I'm wondering what's causing it? Any thoughts?

Hello there I d appreciate your assistance YANZ.B ? - worm NvCpl in understanding my HiJackThis report Do I have a problem or not I ve recently done what I should have done a long time ago and created a User Account without Admin rights Since then I have experienced a few problems with programmes needing Admin rights - and have been able to resolve them by using Run As However whenever I log on I receive Desktop Explorer error telling me that Admin rights are required and I am unable to identify what it may be that is generating this error So I decided to have a look at what is running at startup checking via Google frequently Bleeping Computer as to whether specific items were necessary or not I believe that I have identified quite a few which I can safely uncheck Also one jusched which was identified variously as NvCpl - YANZ.B worm ? Java Update or W Sdbot-CQC and another NvCpl which might NvCpl - YANZ.B worm ? be YANZ B worm I then spoke with No son who is an IT man but lives miles away He recommended that I download and run HiJackThis and post the results somewhere sensible - hence my joining Bleeping Computer and this post I d appreciate any guidance you can give me Seasons Greetings Claire

A:Pc Shuts Down Possible Nvcpl Problem

Hello motswari and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I do not see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean. There are a couple of entires with missing files so let's do a little housekeeping and clean those up while you are here.Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O3 - Toolbar: ICQ Toolbar - {855F3B16-6D32-4fe6-8A56-BBB695989046} - C:\Program Files\ICQToolbar\toolbaru.dll (file missing)O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.Other than that there is nothing showing in the log.The NvCpl.dll file is associated with NVIDEA display adapters (which this computer has a service for so I will assume that it has an NVIDEA adapter). That file should not be a problem. Here is some information on W32.Spybot: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/...-053013-5943-99I do not see any signs of that in the log.If the system is running along and then just quits it would point to either a power issue or possible heat buildup on the CPU. I would suggest posting a question in the Hardware forum and let them check things out. Let them know that you have been to this forum and there were no signs of malware.Cheers.OT

Hi after installing the drivers for my recently bought nVidia GeForce MX I got a persisting error message at startup rundll wasn't able to run the nvcpl dll because of missing components As a result error to how startup nvcpl.dll fix at it! - also I wasn't able to acceess all grafic cards options since the display adapter the tab for the nvcpl.dll error at startup - how to fix it! new grafic card was missing in display-propeties-advanced Reinstalling the most current version of the drivers and so on didn't help I had a hard time finding a solution for this problem it took me several hours of surfing and trial and error Since I read nvcpl.dll error at startup - how to fix it! so many posts around the net with proposed fixes for the problem that didn't help in my case in any way I thought I post the solution I finally found well hidden in some other forum Maybe I can save someone else having the same problem some time and nerve by reposting in this more prominent forum - In my case i e Win don't know if it's working for other window versions as well all I had to do was to install the Accesibility quot Eingabehilfen quot in German features of Windows Like the magnifier lense and that stuff You can install it via Start-ControlPanel-Software-WindowsSetup I have no idea what files of the Accesibility setup finally helped nvcpl dll to load - but IT nvcpl.dll error at startup - how to fix it! WORKED - Just give it a try if you have the same problem with nvcpl dll - I didn't believe this solution myself at first but my system is up and running fine again you wouldn't believe how happy I'm about that after HOURS of fruitless trying Btw I often read the quot solution quot to just throw nvcpl dll out of the autostart using msconfig - that cures just the sympton but not the cause Sure you won't get the error message at startup anymore but you still won't get this nVidia-tab in the display properties and thus can't tune all the settings of your grafic card like TV-out and so on All the best DocGreebo aka nvcpl dll -

A:nvcpl.dll error at startup - how to fix it!

you can grab a copy of the file here: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?nvcpl snag it and install it or unzip it into the directory it is in. hope this helps

have you tried rolling back to the day before you installed drivers? and have you gotten the drivers from the manufaturer of the card or the chipset maker?

manufacturer = PKY, BFG, PowerColor, such things like that

Chipset = nVidia, ATI

I followed a thread about how to deal with this and NvTaskbar.dll by going to Msconfig and unchecking on the startup tab. Found it to be allittle confusing because when I restarted it .. the boxes would get checked again .. ? I have msconfig on selective startup.

A:Solved: NvCpl.dll trouble

Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - "Startup" tab

Uncheck all the entries pertaining to NVIDIA, apply the change, but don't restart yet!

Start - Run - SERVICES.MSC - OK

Change NVIDIA Display Driver Service from "Automatic" to "Manual", apply the change, then restart.

Hello everyone kinda hard to know where to start but here goes Basically I have at the very least the NVCPL DLL virus I know this because two boxes popup when my computer starts one of which saying that my pc is infected with a virus in the NVCPL DLL driver and the other mentioned windows system nvspcap dll I forgot to write down the entire message in box but if I need to I will just let me know The back story as to how this was figured out is kinda tricky because this is my pc but my girlfriend started experiencing the problems yesterday this is her recollection She started google chrome and two windows popped up saying something along the lines of it not being able to run because of a virus and it froze up She then walked away and when she came back it had shut NVCPL.DLL with virus Infected it self down improperly She then booted the pc a window popped up saying it had shut down improperly she ran an avast scan and it grabbed I think over things This is where I stepped in and helped complicated things I basically got MBAM Infected with NVCPL.DLL virus chameleon on this via thumbdrive and a netbook Ran attempted to run it several times and got pup optional being I forgot to write down everything because it was late last night Anyways I also removed everything from the avast chest Infected with NVCPL.DLL virus thinking it would help Not sure if it did or not To conclude I have scanned the pc with avast and it cant find anything now My internet works as I am posting this from the problematic pc But I am pretty sure sure that this thing is still in dire need of help because MBAM chameleon couldn't run with all different attempts it offers Anyways any help would be MUCH appreciated and thank you all very much I am ready to do exactly as told

NVCPL.DLL is related to your graphics drivers. In Safe Mode uninstall your graphics drivers with Driver Sweeper then install the latest from your laptop manufacturer's website.

Hi,

I have the NvCPl.dll, NvStartup running when I start my PC. I try to remove it from "msconfig" (I own an XP system) but it did not work. Also, I used RegCleaner to remove it but it did not work either. I found the following information about this proccess:

Program Name: NvCpl or NvCplDaemon
Executable Name: rundll32.exe NvCpl.dll, NvStartup
Required: User's choice
Comments: Intializes the clock and memory settings on nVidia based graphics cards. Enable if you overclock your card

This proccess came to my startup list since I upgrade the video´s driver of my PC. I guess it not necessary to have it running in my PC.....Am I right?

Do you have others suggestion to remove it from starting?
Best Regards.

A:How to remove NvCPL.dll proccess from running in my background?

The nVidia driver may have re-install the startup item everytime Windows is starting up (I haven't checked this in details).

But one thing I know for sure is that it doesn't stay in memory.
It's job is to set color correction and hardware settings at startup and then it terminates. The only thing that keeps it in memory is when you enable the nVidia system tray icon and possibly when you use the nView Desktop Manager.

Ok so I was installing a game through Daemon Tools When the setup said it was missing some files I searched for them on the mounted CD and found them in a zip file The setup was running from the Daemon Tools X drive I wasn't thinking and thought to try to see if Daemon Tools could open the zip So I made the virtual drive H So here's when I did something idiotic I wasn't thinking and accidentially tried mounting the zip file straight from the X-drive where the CD where the zip is on was mounted As you probably guessed that didn't quite work and Windows basically froze up Tried everything but I couldn't get it to un-freeze Ok so I thought quot well a simple reboot should fix it quot Wrong When booting at first after loading the problem NvCpl.dll, ASAP! concerning [SOLVED] Computer help please Windows screen it was just all black Nothing happened even after a long wait So another [SOLVED] Computer problem concerning NvCpl.dll, please help ASAP! reboot and I decided to try starting from the last working setup thing Well that's how I got here I got to unmount and disable the virtual drives but now when starting up I get a RUNDLL error saying roughly translated from finnish to english Error loading C WINDOWS System NvCpl dll The dynamically linked library's DLL initialization failed My screen is all messed up Can't change from x and bit colors to ANYTHING My XP firewall doesn't seem to work all kinds of ads are coming through Please help me out guys I really really need to get this fixed and fast Update got the file from dll-files replaced the original one with it of course I made a back-up of it first though and rebooted The same exact error message this time around too no change at all Help Ok another update I uninstalled and reinstalled my nVidia drivers Now I can change the resolution and color settings back how I want them but I still get a RUNDLL error when starting up but now it's a bit different again roughly translated from finnish to english Error loading C WINDOWS System NvCpl dll Specified part was not found As to whether or not there's still the ads popping up I don't know I just reinstalled those drivers and the pc's been up just a few minutes Please help me out here Update Yep ads are still there This is getting so tiresome Well the ads were simply disabled by turning of the messenger service in msconfig Had turned back on itself somehow Anyway the main problem still remains Bump Ok seems that I've fixed it now I tried so so many different things pretty much everything I could find here on the forums about nvcpl dll but what finally did the trick was uninstalling and reinstalling my nVidia drivers in NORMAL mode I did it first in Safe Mode so the virus protection wouldn't screw it up but of course then it didn't install properly I guess So yeah problem fixed now

A:NvCpl startup Item. Is this Malware/Trojan?

This is an entry added by Nvidia for the "Nvidia Control Panel" when you install drivers for a Nvidia video card. It's not malicious, but it's also not particularly useful (how often do you change your video card settings?) Removing or disabling this startup will not have a negative impact on your system as the Nvidia Control Panel is also accessible through the Windows Control Panel.

I brought up msconfig and went to the startup tab to see what was there. I saw NvCpl, which apparently is a worm that needs to be removed. How do I do that?

Also, there were two entries where the startup item name and the next field are empty. The third field to the right has the beginnings of a location. What are these two items without names?

Finally, I tried to research a few that I can't seem to find definitive information on -
- searchprotection is listed twice and may have something to do with yahoo?
- pdfquickguide?

Can someone please help with these items?

I have windows vista home premium. The other day my mother was going through her email account on Juno deleting messages. While doing so the system crashed. Now when we turn on the computer we get two error messages popping up that say "error loading NVCPL.DLL access denied."

We cannot access the desktop. When the error message show up we get a blank purple screen and the system does not go any further than that. I've tried to load the system in safe mode and run a virus scan with AVG and that has not helped. Also tried to do a system restore while in safe mode to a time when the system was working fine and that has not worked either. PLEASE HELP!

A:[SOLVED] error loading NVCPL.DLL access denied

NVCPL.DLL = Nvidia (graphics) control panel.

While in safe mode with networking, go to Start -> type dxdiag and press enter.

Go to the Display tab and take note of what it says beside Chip Type

Then download Driver Sweeper and use it to remove your Nvidia graphics driver.

Reboot and go back into Safe Mode, then go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and find the download for the Chip Type that you took note of previously.

Install that driver, then reboot and you should be able to get into the desktop again.

Hello - I'm having a problem with the system32 window appearing after startup. I know that it's a registry issue, and found NvCplDaemon in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run which I suspect is the culprit.

What is the fix for this? I would need step by step instructions, as I'm not an MSCE. Thanks.

A:[SOLVED] System32 folder on startup with NvCpl.dll in registry

Hi there and welcome to TSF.
First, NvCplDaemon is unlikely to be the culprit as this is required by nVidia. You are, however, looking in the right area. If any other entries appear to be incorrect then delete them. Also any entries that show just as "". The only entry you need in this key is
Value: SystemTray
Value Type: REG_SZ
Value Data: SysTray.exe

Before you make any changes to your registry make sure you make a backup either by creating a System Restore point or by exporting your registry to, say, your desktop and naming it as eg. reg.bak or better still, do both. For a detailed explanation see the Microsoft article 170086

I downloaded Xfire to enable chat while playing COD4. While in Xfire I downloaded 2 patches for COD4 (v 1.4 & 1.5). While downloading, Comodo came up with an update request which I allowed. I stopped the downloads for COD4 because they where taking too long. Then I tried to open COD4 and got RUNDLL message "Error loading NvCpl.dll' Access Denied. Retry with same problem. I went to Control Panel to remove the suspected Xfire (which I can live without) villain but could not open 'Add/Remove Programs' with RUNDLL message "Error Loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvMcTray.dll Access Denied". I then restored to earlier date (this past Thursday) with same results. I then did the attached HJT log to send to my friendly BC friends. Oh! I found I can't insert the HJT log on this post....I have it though, if needed.

Many thanks, Tom

Hello tomfluharty and welcome to BC

Let's hold off on the HJT log. The HJT forum is extremely busy. I removed your topic from there as it lacked the log.

What is your operating system: Windows XP, Vista, etc.?

A:Help please. Screen fault on windows 7

ok im had a similar problem in vista, i fond i had the problem whilst connecting to a network and playing games/videos etc... Try updating your graphics drivers or reinstalling them if they are new, and as unrelated it may seem if you are using a wifi card try updating or reinstall its driver. This seemed to work for me in vista but after a month or so it would start doing it again. Strangely enough i have never had the problem in win7.

Sorry if this doesn't help its just a suggestion from my past experiences..

a few weeks ago my computer stopped being able to automatically connect to wireless networks of any kind.. now whenever i want to go online wirelessly i must go to network connections and select a network.. that isn't the problem though.. the problem is that it fails to connect EVERY TIME and i must go through the troubleshooter.. which then tells me that the access point is bad (which is every access point on the planet) and still does not connect.. but, after going through this process a 2nd time it will connect. it has me confused. I know the first thing said is the driver is out of date, but since toshiba refuses to bring out a new one for this laptop and they have their own drivers for everything on this thing, there isn't much in that route i can do.

Hi,

I am using the SDLC Threat Modelling tool 2016 by Microsoft on a Windows 10 virtual Box 32-bit.

When I am trying to generate a final report, it discards all the different risk ratings for each threat, and instead of having the respective high, medium, low levels next to each threat, it produces a html report putting only high next to each
one of them.

Any help?

Hi bert4444
You will need to uninstall New,Net.Do this via Add/Remove

When done..
Make sure you have already run Adaware, Spybot S & D(check for updates) as these will do a preliminary clean first. Some files below may not be present after running the above programs.

Then....
Turn off your System Restore. SEE HERE Reinstate it when your log is cleaned.Close your browser window and run hjt in safe mode... HOW TO RUN SAFE MODE and have "Hijack This" fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting "fix checked".
Folders that have been highlighted in RED will need to be uninstalled.Check first as some folders maybe uninstalled via the Add/Remove program. Files highlighted in BLACK will need to be removed from your hard drive. Make sure to have your system set to show hidden files and folders.. HOW TO SHOW FILES ..Please get the latest HJT v1.98.2 and then post a new log when finished...

When i start my PC it runs thru the start up and everything seems normal, windows is starting blue screen, It then goes to my desktop shows the background picture, and a cursor in the middle of the screen, but there are no icons down the left side of the screen, and no taskbar along the bottom. After a moment the task bar flashes up then goes again, I can ctrl/alt/del to get the task manager up, and try to start things in new task but internet will not conect. If i start in safe mode, or safe mode with directory controls(or defaults)cant remember, it start with a black screen in safe mode with small icons, but I can access the internet. any help with this would be much appreciated.

A:Windows Fault no icons or taskbar

Before we start fixing anything you should print out these instructions or copy them to a NotePad file so they will be accessible. Some steps will require you to disconnect from the Internet or use Safe Mode and you will not have access to this page. Please download Dr.Web CureIt and save it to your desktop. DO NOT perform a scan yet.alternate download linkNote: The file will be randomly named (i.e. 5mkuvc4z.exe).Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".Scan with Dr.Web CureIt as follows:Double-click on the randomly named file to open the program and click Start. (There is no need to update if you just downloaded the most current versionRead the Virus check by DrWeb scanner prompt and click Ok where asked to Start scan now? Allow the setup.exe to load if asked by any of your security programs. The Express scan will automatically begin.
(This is a short scan of files currently running in memory, boot sectors, and targeted folders). If prompted to dowload the Full version Free Trial, ignore and click the X to close the window. If an infected object is found, you will be prompted to move anything that cannot be cured. Click Yes to All. (This will move any detected files to the C:\Documents and Settings\userprofile\DoctorWeb\Quarantine folder if they can't be cured)After the Express Scan is finished, put a check next to Complete scan to scan all local disks and removable media. In the top menu, click Settings > Change settings, and uncheck "Heuristic analysis" under the "Scanning" tab, then click Apply, Ok.Back at the main window, click the green arrow "Start Scanning" button on the right under the Dr.Web logo. Please be patient as this scan could take a long time to complete. When the scan has finished, a message will be displayed at the bottom indicating if any viruses were found.Click Select All, then choose Cure > Move incurable. In the top menu, click file and choose save report list.Save the DrWeb.csv report to your desktop.Exit Dr.Web Cureit when done.Important! Reboot your computer because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot. After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web in your next reply. (You can use Notepad to open the DrWeb.cvs report)

Dear Bleepers Please help For the past week I have been getting BSOD Paged Fault in Non-Paged Area CLASSPNP SYS It has happened times now The first time was when I Paged BSOD, 8.1, Fault, Windows Help!!!! inserted a flash drive as was the second and the third Either the second or third was actually my USB mouse but I cannot remember which time it was BSOD, Paged Fault, Windows 8.1, Help!!!! The th and th also had BSOD, Paged Fault, Windows 8.1, Help!!!! a USB mouse attached to the computer but the error did not happen when I initially plugged the USB device in as it did most of the other times I have read that this problem can be caused by faulty hardware faulty drivers and RAM going bad I am usually patient enough to read and find the problems and solutions myself but this is over my head Please help Some information about my computer to begin with Toshiba Satelite L -B Running Windows Ran whocrashed and all dumps are virtually identical BCC x description SCSI Class System Dll Bug check description This indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module Your system configuration may be incorrect Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time I am also running both Mcafee and malwarebytes have had some recent attacks - malware said it successfully blocked outgoing and incoming - I also read antivirus can cause this problem I don't know if this is even the proper way to ask for help but someone please take pity on me I am extremely distraught Thank you

Actually i'm having problem attaching the dump file it says me invalid file data

What could be?

A:Windows 7:fault in unpaged area

You need to zip the dump files before you can attach them. Files with a ZIP, RAR or 7Z extension are acceptable.

Hi
I got a new 40Gb hard drive to add to the 10Gb in an Athlon 550Mhz machine(MSI motherboard, haven't looked up exactly what, it was an Advent machine)
So I install the new drive as slave to the old one, the BIOS recognises it but when Windows loads up it doesn't. So I created a startup disk and ran fdisk, which was able to format the new drive and create a partition no problem.
So when I try to get back into windows, it displays a 'General Protection Fault' and shuts down the PC. The computer's booting from the old driv so I don't know how the new drive can stop it from booting. When I go back into Fdisk and delete the partition Windows works again but still doesn't detect the new hard drive...
So any ideas?

A:Ntfs.sys PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGE AREA / Registry Fault

the error means that your PC asked for a page of memory , and the page was not available. when the operation could not continue, it BSOD'd and shut down. Its usually happens as a result of a hardware that is misfiring or failing. The 'Page_Fault_in_Nonpaged_Area' and "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal" BSOD's often show up consecutively and alternately. Things to try to correct or identify the problem are to restore your machine to the last know working configuration. if the problem keeps appearing run disk check for errors on your HDD. if that shows nothing, the next most likely suspect is a problem with the Ram. You can download any number of programs that will test your ram for errors. Win 7 has a built in memory test (not sure about the RC though) and you do not have to burn a disc to run it. Hope that helps some.
