Preferred Solution: Internet stops working after period of set time

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This sounds kind of off the wall but have you tried cheking to see if you have anything overheating?

I'm no guru, just a granny geek, but sometimes I get caught up in compex detective work and the solution turns out to be simple.

Recently I ve been running working hours Internet for stops time! at a into a very strange problem and I can t figure out what s going on My internet wired and wireless usually works fine but occasionally read every few days to weeks the connection will suddenly black out for a period of time anywhere from an hour to a day I have tried Internet stops working for hours at a time! resetting both my router and modem Internet stops working for hours at a time! and going through Internet stops working for hours at a time! all the settings on my laptop but I m pretty sure it s not my computer as no other devices can connect either During the blackouts when I look at the modem the internet light will turn on for a second then go off and then the red quot alarm quot light aka quot something is wrong quot light starts blinking like crazy and this keeps repeating This resolves itself after anywhere from a few hours to a whole day and everything is normal again The light show and the fact that I can t find any other problems leads me to believe that it could be a problem with my provider or the network itself and not a hardware or software problem but I can t be sure of this I can t find any answers on the net and I d really like to see if anyone else has seen this problem before Also during the blackouts I can connect to the network but it shows that limited connectivity symbol exclamation mark thing and says no internet I have a DLINK modem if that s any help nbsp

A:My internet stops working after a certain amount of time

In Hijack This, check ALL of the following items.
Next, close all browser Windows, and have HT fix all checked.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CMESys] "C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\CMEII\CMESYS.EXE"
O4 - Startup: GStartup.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\GMT\GMT.exe
Next reboot into Safe Mode and remove the following files and folders that are bolded
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\CMEII\CMESYS.EXE"
C:\Program Files\Common Files\GMT\GMT.exe

See here http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...001052409420406 for how to start in safe mode if you don't know how.

Reboot into normal mode
Now download Spybot - Search & Destroy (if you haven't got the program installed already)

After installing, first press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.

Next, close all Internet Explorer windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove/fix all it finds that are in RED

Reboot

Last, run HJT again and post your log again to see if anything was missed.

Thanks

I used to have this thing when I started up my PC when I clicked or more tabs on FF very soon after first opening it the net just crapped itself and wouldn't let anything net related open aside from mIRC if it was open prior to the net going down but I couldn't open a new one only fix was restarting everything related x amount for working of internet stops time If I waited like - mins after startup it never happened The internet icon never changed and the troubleshooter would everything internet related stops working for x amount of time always say it was working fine Recently it's started happening at random times no matter how long the PC has been on even if I just click a forum banner or something- everything internet related will stop working refuse to open other than my mIRC window if it was already connected but I can't PM anyone or join any new channels Usually lasts - minutes and then the FF page that froze will load and everything will work again I've also tried IE and Chome same result It's become extremely annoying now as it's very frequent and can last from as little as minutes to mins longest so far I've downloaded nothing new added no new hardware and the PC is a gaming PC that I built around a year and a bit ago I've scanned with MBAM Nod and Zone Alarm they've come up with nothing I'm really hoping someone here has an idea what's wrong because I'm very close to just reinstalling to get rid of this huge annoyance Thanks in advance for any help

A:everything internet related stops working for x amount of time

It's probably something running in the background since all browsers are affected. Try changing your AV from automatic to notifying you so you can update definitions manually. Think of other programs that are set to run in the background or since you built the unit, if your fans are sufficient since heat can cause the problem.

I'm using IE 11  Version 11.162.10586.0 Update Version (KB3139929) in Windows 10. A few days ago when I started IE it showed right away "Internet Explorer stopped working and has to close". I have no idea what happened but since than I have
to start IE as administrator and it works. I checked Java and it seems I've installed the right version. I have reset IE but that didn't help either. I've run the IE diagnostic tool but nothing came up and since IE is part of Windows now I can't uninstall
and reinstall it. Is there anything else I could try?

Hello everyone,

I have spent a lot of time looking for the solution to the problem quoted in the topic title and I know that some of you experience the same. As it appears in a couple of threads it makes it hard to post a response in each of them, so I will create a new one.
The problem usually occurs on computers running p2p programs or other software that creates many connections. The problem is a bug in ICS (internet connection sharing), you can read a discussion here :
Vista RTM can't open new socket. - MSDN Forums

If you don't want to read the whole discussion, you can just check this link containing the solution :
After you configure Internet Connection Sharing in Windows Vista, the network connection stops working after one-to-two hours

Hope it helps

Cheers

Hey everyone I looked around a bit and although I found quite a few similar issues I was unable to find any exactly like the one I'm having Basically every weekday during the approximate hours of am- pm my internet will constantly drop By this I do not mean it completely stops working I mean that every few seconds or minutes my internet will cut out for about seconds The reason that this is such a huge problem is I play online video games and working random part-time hours quite often places me in between these hours when playing Also these drops take place even if I'm not on games My computer will usually be the only one online and no matter what I'm doing even just doing something like reading an article online the problem persists Period Random Time Specific During Internet Drops My ISP is Comcast and my router is an ASUS RT-N U Here is my system information Quote OS Name Microsoft Windows Home Premium Version Service Pack Build Other OS Description Not Available OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Name KYLE-PC System Manufacturer System manufacturer System Model System Product Name System Type x -based PC Processor Intel R Core TM i - CPU GHz Mhz Core s Logical Processor s BIOS Version Date American Megatrends Inc SMBIOS Version Windows Directory C Windows System Directory C Windows system Boot Device Device HarddiskVolume Locale United States Hardware Abstraction Layer Random Internet Drops During Specific Time Period Version quot quot User Name Kyle-PC Kyle Time Zone Eastern Daylight Time Installed Physical Memory RAM GB Total Physical Memory GB Available Physical Memory GB Total Virtual Memory GB Available Virtual Memory GB Page File Space GB Page File C pagefile sys I should also mention that the router is new and the problem existed before I bought Random Internet Drops During Specific Time Period it I believed that my old router was the problem and clearly I am wrong Also my router has a WEP on it so there shouldn't be anyone leaching off of my network These also are nowhere near peak hours which adds even more confusion I do live near a school which would normally be open around these hours However it's summer so that isn't the case Thanks in advance for any help

A:Random Internet Drops During Specific Time Period

You should change your wireless security to WPA2 with AES encryption.

The WEP you are using now is outdated and easily hacked into and usually will not work correctly with Windows 7 drivers. This could also cause the connection problems you are seeing now.

You should also uninstall any third party A/V software on this system as they are famous for causing such as you are describing.

Sorry I posted this in the wrong forum earlier I missed this one My computer is Windows Professional It's almost three years old and I haven't had any trouble on it until recently Despite my internet being connected tonight I found there connect for certain a time Internet websites period of wouldn't to were websites I could not access In fact I couldn't access any of them Eventually I was able to access google and then later a couple of other sites but never too many at a time Internet wouldn't connect to certain websites for a period of time Then more websites started to work but others wouldn't work I called my ISP but they weren't able to detect a Internet wouldn't connect to certain websites for a period of time problem I put my computer in safe mode and was able to come here for help I've done a malwarebytes scan but nothing came up For some reason this also seemed to effect Internet wouldn't connect to certain websites for a period of time my PS connected wirelessly to my modem I'm at my wits end and have no idea what to do Help would be much appreciated I'm not sure if this is malware related or not My ISP seemed to think it could be a problem with the system though I'm now able to access this forum and any other website without problem without being in safe mode I'd think that if my PS had trouble connecting that it wouldn't be malware but I'm not as computer savvy as I'd like to be I'm not computer incompetent either thanks to working with computers for most of my life

A:Internet wouldn't connect to certain websites for a period of time

Have you tried resetting your router/...?

This is usually achieved by inserting a paperclip into a tiny hole located on the router.....google your router model number to determine exactly where it is.

Press the paperclip end in and hold it in for approx 20 seconds...then release it and wait for the router to boot back up again

Note Be sure  you have the password for your internet a/c/router BEFORE you start.

Hello everyone,

For the second time within the past two weeks I've had quite an annoying problem regarding my left mouse button on my synaptics pointing device, all of a sudden the left mouse button will stop working. The right mouse button and the rest of the touchpad will work apart from being able to click the LMB function. I've had this happen once before quite a few months ago but thought nothing of it at the time. This occurs for around half a minute to sometimes a minute before returning to normal and being able to use the LMB. I am using a Lenovo Z580 if that is any help to anyone.

I have tried searching around the internet for any information regarding this problem but I have not been able to find any solution or information connected to my issue.

Thank you in advance!

A:Left Mouse Button - Stops working from time to time.

Hello LO mate when you click the button do you hear an audible click from inside the mouse it could be something as simple as a stuck micro switch.

Also if it is a wired one check the USB contacts too - in the plug and socket. You can clean them gently with a strip (about 5 mm with the corners rounded off) of old credit card with some lint free cloth around the end of it moistened very lightly with some alcohol

By the way just how old is the mouse?

I previously started a thread about this at Determine what happens on start up But that's days ago I apologize if I should NOT start a new thread instead of adding to the old one The issue is that from time to time say at least once an hour or more certain functions on the computer stop I cannot access the Internet I cannot ping I cannot launch a new application If I am already in say Word I can continue to edit Time From Stops Sort Windows Working of Time to that file But of course I cannot print Originally when this started it seemed to last as much as minutes Now it lasts about minute I've tried to write a batch file which will ping Google endlessly and note the times Windows Sort of Stops Working From Time to Time but that didn't work it echoed the time then pinged then echoed the time but the time didn't change echo off set i FOR L i IN DO echo time ping Google echo time Anyway a friend of mine who is in Windows Sort of Stops Working From Time to Time IT Support thinks this is an SMM virus That would be very bad news I think I've run MalwareBytes and Kaspersky and also Combofix and they all report no problems Does anyone have an idea where to go from here As for the ping failure the cable modem appears to continue to work in that my WiFi is not affected by this I am running an app called AirAndroid just started about days ago so well after this problem started And even though just now my session seemed to freeze this app correctly popped up a message it does when I get a text message on my phone So the Internet connection is working and apps can work Just not when they are initiated by user action AM And this morning seems much worse It's happened times at least already The last one at least minutes RON

Hi,I am deeply annoyed by an issue that has plagued this goddamn laptop since I bought it.My audio works normally for a few days, and then suddenly it stops working after a few days.I have the Bang and Olufsen speakers. I have reinstalled the drivers from the Realtek website a few times but this goddamn problem comes back, and drives me nuts. I can't tell you how much I hate this laptop, it came with this horrible windows 10 OS, and I can't tellyou how much I hate both windows 10 and this goddamn laptop which is plagued by so many issues, that I only bought it because I had no better options. The red X on the speaker volume means the goddamn thing has stopped working again andsays no audio driver is installed.HP and windows suck.

I think it all started when I tried to install TopoUSA V 4 to my computer. After that, when I go to MSConfig, I find that it is in "selective startup" mode. I have been able to manually start all services and startup items, but when I click on "normal startup" I get the message that "MSConfig has stopped working"

I'm able to start my computer just fine and it's working as I expect, but MSConfig is broken.

This is a strange problem. About every other time I turn on my computer it cannot connect to the internet. It goes like this: 1. Turn on computer2. Unlock Bitlocker3. Windows 10 Loads up4. Computer does not automaticlly connect to internet5. I click on the lower right hand wifi icon6. All wireless connections in the area show up but if I click connect nothing happens.7. If I click out of the wifi list and click back into it (by clicking again on the wifi icon) all the wifi signals are gone.8. If I reset the computer everything works and the internet connects I'm on a T450s, Windows 10. This problem happens whether or not I am at home, at work, or at Starbucks. It is a very annoying problem becuase I have to reset my computer every other time I want to use the internet. Any thoughts? Thanks!

So I have a Xonar Essence STX with a turtle beach X12 headset hooked up all in the back. It seems that the microphone stops working after the computer has been on for some time. It seems pretty random. If I leave my computer and come back a few hours later. I can only seem to get it to work if I restart my PC! I can still hear that the microphone works, because I hear myself through the headset, but I can't record and nobody can hear me. I've tried multiple things, but the only thing that works is a fresh restart. Plz any ideas? I've updated to the latest drivers, messed with control panel settings. Went into the Xonar menu and tried switching the front panel microphone. Still Nothing. It's like something gets shut off and the only thing to turn it back on is the restart.

Over the last week or so, my Firefox stops working within twenty seconds of me starting it. It just says "Firefox has stopped working" and I'm forced to close the browser. Windows "searches for a solution" and all it comes up with is that "a problem" forced Firefox to close. There's nothing specific to go on. Then when I close the program and try starting Firefox again, everything's fine. It's just the first attempt that goes haywire.

I'm wondering if this might have something to do with Windows Vista, because I've only been using this OS for a few months and I never had a problem with XP. Help!

A:Upgrading Internet Explorer Stops Internet From Working

Is there any reason why you haven't downloaded SP3 yet? You probably need to do that before downloading IE8.

When I get on the internet, I can stay on one website for a while, but when I try to get onto another a page comes up that says that the "Page cant be displayed" and it "Cant find Server". Also when i get on the internet, get off of it, then try to get back on the same page comes up. Someone told me I have spyware (I don't really know what that is), and I've used Ad-Aware, but that didn't work. Please help me!!! What can I do to fix it?

Create a directory on your hardrive to save HijackThis.exe. A directory like c:\hijackthis. If you do not do this, you will not be able to use the backup/restore features.Download HijackThis from:HijackThis Download SiteSave this file into the directory you made previously and then run the program named hijackthis.exe. When the program opens click on the Config button, then click on the Misc Tools button, and click on the Check for update online button. When it completes checking/applying updates press the back button. Now click on the Scan button and when it is finished click on the Save Log button. A Notepad window will open with the contents of this log. Click on Edit then click on Select all. Then click on Edit and then Click on Copy.Create a reply to this post here and right click in message area and select paste to paste the log into the post.Someone will reply to you after reading this post. DO NOT fix any entries unless you understand what you are doing. To see a tutorial with screenshots on using HijackThis you can click on the link below:How to use HijackThis to remove Browser Hijackers, Malware, & Spyware

Hi I have Windows Bit on a Fujitsu Amilo Desktop Pi A brought brand new in Feb I use AOL UK via a wireless connection When I log on Internet stops - working Why boot up PC the network connection appears in the taskbar on the right bottom of screen and everything connects as it should with a good level of wireless connection However once on line I will get to a point where no web pages load and the connection stops This is verified by the loss Internet stops working - Why of a flashing light to the USB wireless Adapter Then if I attempt to enter the network connections either through my computer or via the taskbar the spinning blue disc appears and I can get no further I can not enter the connections at all no matter what I try I then have to force the PC to shut down via the power button as it wont log off by itself Upon restarting everything starts up fine again in normal mode Internet connects etc then USB stops working after a short while It can lock up after or minutes or it can last a few hours but it always drops out in the end I have tried the power saving options and that makes no difference According to instructions both my modem router and USB are windows Compatable and AOL says its not their software but then Fujitsu say its not their machine and say I should go back to Windows Vista bit which I think is not the solution when I paid for an Upgrade I had a quot basic quot Dell for years which never had this problem on Windows XP I regret ever upgrading but hope their is a solution from someone Many thanks Lee

When I log on (boot up PC) the network connection appears in the taskbar on the right bottom of screen and everything connects as it should, with a good level of wireless connection.

However, once on line I will get to a point where no web pages load and the connection stops. This is verified by the loss of a flashing light to the USB wireless Adapter.

Then if I attempt to enter the network connections either through my computer or via the taskbar, the spinning blue disc appears and I can get no further, I can not enter the connections at all no matter what I try.

I then have to force the PC to shut down via the power button as it wont log off by itself. Upon restarting everything starts up fine again in normal mode. Internet connects etc, then USB stops working after a short while. It can lock up after 1 or 2 minutes or it can last a few hours, but it always drops out in the end.

I have tried the power saving options and that makes no difference. According to instructions both my modem router and USB are windows 7 Compatable and AOL says its not their software, but then Fujitsu say its not their machine and say I should go back to Windows Vista 64 bit, which I think is not the solution when I paid for an Upgrade.........

I had a "basic" Dell for 5 years, which never had this problem on Windows XP.......I regret ever upgrading, but hope their is a solution from someone

Many thanks

There are many things that can cause this but all can be resolved. First are you using "homegroup" or workgroup?

Are there any other devices (x-box, other pc's, etc) on the network?

When I leave my Toshiba Satellite L450 idle for a while then come back to it my internet stops working. I reboot the laptop then all is well for a while. This is happening with all browsers. It says my network is connected. This seems to be only on my Toshiba laptop. Thanks

A:Internet stops working

Go to the device manager, find the adapter, right click it and select properties, in the power management tab, uncheck the box that says 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'

I currently use a laptop with vista, and I have trouble when using the internet. I can connect ok, but after surfing for a while pages just seem to stop loading. I am still connected to the net. If viewing video sites such as youtube it happens alot quicker, but if surfing the net generally it take a little longer.

This happens wherever I take my lap-top so it can't be the netgear router I am using.

It's driving me mad....any ideas?

Thanks.

I assume you mean when you use other networks - is this correct

Make and model of the laptop
You may need to download and update the drivers
IS this via wireless LAN or both

DO the following when its working OK and then repeat when it fails

{ipconfig /all}
We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all

-> Start > run {search bar in Vista} > cmd > ipconfig /all
post back the results here
TWO Methods to do that - if you cannot access the internet with PC, then use method 2 to copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

Method ONE -------------------------------------------------------------
start > run {search bar in Vista} > cmd > ipconfig /all

rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Method TWO -------------------------------------------------------------

Start> Run {search bar in Vista}> CMD to open a DOS window and type:

IPCONFIG /ALL >C:\RESULT.TXT

Open C:\RESULT.TXT with Notepad and copy/paste the entire results here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

{Ping Tests}
Start> Run {search bar in Vista}> CMD to open a DOS window and type:

Ping the default gateway from the ipconfig

Ping google.com
Post back the results

rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Ping 209.191.93.53
post back results

Hello,

My Internet stops working at seemingly random times. I have Windows XP Home Edition with SP3. I usually use Google Chrome. I'm using the newest stable version for it, not the beta. I use a Linksys wireless router.

When I'm using the Internet for miscellaneous tasks (it doesn't seem to be connected to any website, or such) nothing will load, as if my Internet were offline. When I look at the info in the Internet settings, it says everything should be working and that I'm connected to the Internet, etc., but in reality, nothing functions. The Internet isn't slow before this happens, or anything like that. There are no symptoms prior to this occurring.

Does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I thank you in advance.

If you need any more information, just ask.

A:Internet just stops working??

Well, the first thing to do would be to try reinstalling your internet browser (internet explorer?), or try using a different one like firefox, opera... If all else fails, format your drive and reinstall windows. Fell free to ask if you need further instruction and let us know what you achieved.

Hi BurningVegeta,

Firstly, welcome to the TSG - Virus & Other Malware Removal Forum.
My name is Scolabar, and I'll be helping you with your malware problems.
Logs can take a while to research, so please be patient.
If you no longer require help i would be grateful if you would let me know.

Please note the following important guidelines before proceeding:
The instructions that will be provided are for YOUR computer and system only!
Using these instructions on a different computer can cause damage to that computer and possibly render it inoperable!
If you have any questions or do not understand something, please do not hesitate to ask, don't guess or assume.
Only post your problem at One help site. Applying fixes from multiple help sites can cause problems.
Only reply to this thread, do not start another. Please, continue responding, until I give you the All Clean.
Absence of symptoms does not necessarily mean that everything is clear.
DO NOT run any other fix or removal tools unless instructed to do so!
DO NOT install any other software (or hardware) during the cleaning process. This adds more items to be researched.
Print each set of instructions, if possible. Your Internet connection will not be available during some fix processes.
Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
Windows 7 Advice:
Please Note: The programs I ask you to use will need to be run in Administrator Mode.
In order to do this Right-click on the program file and select the Run as Administrator option.
Additionally, the built-in User Account Control (UAC) utility, if enabled, may prompt you for permission to run the program.
If prompted, please click on the Allow button.
Reference: User Account Control (UAC) and Running as Administrator

Please be aware that removing Malware is a hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.Click to expand...

In light of this, it would be advisable for you to back up any important files and folders that you don't want to lose before we start.
Backup Your Data - Windows 7
If you follow these guidelines, things should proceed smoothly.
I am currently reviewing your log and will return, as soon as possible, with additional instructions.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi,

The internet browser stops working on my computer after a while. I saw a lot of people have similar problem and tried all different solution but nothing seems to work. Here are details of my issue

1) After I reboot the machine the internet stops working after 5-10 minutes.
2) This issue does not occur when in safe mode with networking.
3) I have used softwares to cleanup the spywares using adware and have also used software to clean up the registry but still the same problem.

Right now I am in safe mode and will go back to normal mode to provide some of the info requested in other threads.

Please help!

thanks,
Amit

Lately, each and every time my wife tries to access her works site, the message, 'Internet Stopped Working' appears. This does not happen with any other site, nor does it happen to her colleagues when they try to access the same site. I would be grateful if someone could come up with a potential cause and solution to this problem.

Welcome to Seven Forums,

Verify if this is a wired or wireless connection issue. Have you tried both?

Try browsing thru Safe Mode with Networking by restarting your computer, tap F8 then select this option.

Sometimes P2P programs can cause this issue.

A:internet stops working..

also, the only way ive been able to fix this problem is by rebooting. and sometimes after the reboot and my computer loads up again my CPU usage will rise to around 50% and stay there until i reboot again (this is without any programs running). normally it will sit around 2 or 3% w/o any running programs

thanks

I have a ethernet connection to a router with a limit of 4 ip addresses and there are 4 computers in my houses, with no one else hacking my internet. recently, my laptop's internet will stop working after a while and I don't know why.

A:Internet stops working after a while

Hi zijincheng,

Do you have DHCP enabled on all the computers? Perhaps IP conflict, is there's only 4 IP limited in your router.

You may try assigning Static IP's on all the computers and see if that helps.

Hey there guys so I bought a new Lenovo Y50 laptop and I have been having issues since I bought it, internet connection will just go away at times, however I can still use skype while browsing will not work, or sometimes nothing works at all while I'm still connected to the network. The laptop has a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller and it also says I have a Realtek RTL8723BE Wireless LAN Adapter, dont know which one it is honestly. I already downloaded drivers from Lenovo's website to see if that was the issue however it did not fix it. What I find weird is that sometimes it will work again for a while if i switch from Wifi to an Ethernet Cable or the other way, but then it will stop working again. Please help.

A:Internet stops working even though it's connected

Hello Bazzah I will be helping with your computer problems. From this point on, it is very important that you refrain from doing anything else to your computer other than what I have requested of you.I do not mind if you browse the web, do basic tasks, or even test to see if the problem(s) you are experiencing are still occurring with the computer while we are working together, but do not run any tools/fixes unless I or another helper from this thread has asked you to do so.Remember that you came here for help, so allow us to help you If something does not run, make a detailed note of what problems you encountered along the way (exact error messages are preferred), but continue onto the next steps until you reach the end of my post.Always do the steps they are listed in (left to right, top to bottom).I prefer that you complete all the steps while you are in Normal Mode. However, I understand that sometimes this is not possible. If you are unsuccessful in getting a tool/fix to run from Normal Mode, but Safe Mode works, then use Safe Mode.If you have a question about something, do not hesitate to ask.Let's begin:Please perform the following scan:Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.DDS.comDouble click on the DDS icon, allow it to run. A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running. Notepad will open with the results. Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results. Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop. Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet. Information on A/V control HERE__ Please download Farbar Service Scanner and run it on the computer with the issue.Make sure all the options are checkedPress Scan.It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool was run.Post the contents of FSS.txt into your next message.

I have comcast and have a linksys wireless G 2.4ghz broadband router.Freqently while being on-line the computer will stop working and the screen will say the internet has stopped working. The computer then would restart itself. This problem continues everyday 2 or 3 times daily please help.

A:internet freqently stops working

Is this the only PC that disconnects - do other devices connected work OK - if so how are they connected to the router - wireless or wired

would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects.
Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.

please include the xirrus screen shots for both conditions - see how below.

Please post back here the make and exact model of the router and if you have a separate modem, the make and exact model of the modem.

Please make a note of the status of the lights on the modem and on the router when working normally - post that light status here.
Now when the internet disconnects make a note of the status of the lights for the modem and router here again. also note which have changed.

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG , Webroot etc

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

This should also work for windows 8
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

Ping Tests
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

Start> Run {search bar in Vista/W7}> type CMD to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

For Windows 8
to open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop. Use Win + X and choose Command Prompt or Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.

Type the following command
Ping {then a space and then add the number that is shown against the item labelled "default gateway" shown in the results from the ipconfig /all}
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping google.com
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command

IE stops after about 8 minutes and I can't access anything on the net. When I type in a site, instead of the address showing on the bottom bar I get a series of numbers.
eg. www.google.com becomes 74.125.19.147

Then the IE page eventually pops up saying IE can't access the site. My ISP says there is not a connection problem. A friend said it may be a network problem.

Can anyone help please?

My other computer, if it is on for 2-4 hours the internet stops working. If I go on a website after my computer is on for 3-4 hours it will say it is not found for every website. After about 2 hours of my compuer being on my internet will start to go slower. But after I restart my computer my internet will be working fine. till about 2-4?

Does someone know why this happens and if I can stop it?

A:Internet Stops Working After About 2-4 Hours?help!?

What security programs are you running, antivirus, antispyware, firewall..? Do you have other computers on your LAN and do they stop working also? When it stops working contact your ISP and have them do a line test fo you. See if it is a wiring problem. When it stops working does the network activity icon in you task bar show activity? What about your task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del)? If it does you may have malware infecting your system.

A:HELP Internet stops working after 5 minutes

Hi, Disconnect from the Internet once you have these steps.

Start>Run, type in services.msc and in the list, find

Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (lsass) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\scvhost.exe Note the spelling, and the EXACT name of the service, there are legitimate ones that use lsass.exe....do not shut down the real ones, only scvhost.exe The real ones are named svchost.exe.

Rightclick and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK. Exit the Services utility.

Note: You may get an error here when trying to access the properties of the service. If you do get an error, just select the service and look there in the top left of the main service window and click "Stop" to stop the service. If that gives an error or it is already stopped, just skip this step and proceed with the rest.

Then, run Hijackthis again, and fix this item:

O23 - Service: Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (lsass) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\scvhost.exe

Set these settings so you can see hidden/system files:

flrman1 said:

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default, Go to Start > Search>Files and Folders>> and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Next click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"Click to expand...

Find and delete the file using Windows Explorer:

C:\WINDOWS\scvhost.exe

There are some others to fix, post a new Hijackthis log.

I've posted only this so you can get it to remain connected hopefully long enough to download and update a removal tool.

You might be able to boot into Safe Mode with Networking, that selection allows the Internet while plain Safe Mode does not. It just might work for you to be able to download and then update this program:

Another trick is to download it onto another computer, burn it to CD, and install from CD or copy over the download and install, then, all you have to do is update the program as per directions.

http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Install ewido.
During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
Launch ewido
It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
On the left side of the main screen click update
Click on Start and let it update.
DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.

Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:

How to get to Safe Mode in XP:

Restart your computer.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter
Run Ewido:
Click on scanner
Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
. The options are "Remove" or "Ignore" naturally, remove all items it finds. It makes backups you can restore.
When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
Save the report to your desktop
Ewido will take some time to run!
Post that log and a new HiJack log
&nbs... Read more

Hi,

I have a fresh install of Windows 7 on a (partly) new Desktop. Sometimes suddenly internet gets really slow and stops working.
All other devices in my house (ipad, labtop (XP), phones) have no problems at all. This should suggest it's a problem of my PC but:
Connecting to the WiFi of my neighboor solves the problem!
Must be a problem of my PC and rooter together....

Update's i did to trie and solve the problem:
Update firmware rooter (D-Link 655 mixed WiFi)
Update drivers Wireless PCI card
Update AVG antivirus

From a tread in this forum i tried a static IP but didn't work.

Any suggestions?

Hello everyone:

I?m using Chrome, Windows 7, and from time to time my internet stops working. When that happens, I open Firefox and IE, but still no internet. It only starts working after I restart the computer. The odd thing is that my mom uses a laptop, and she?s having the same problem. We recently had our cable provider install a new cable modem/router, but the problem still persists. My Mom?s laptop also has Windows 7, McAfee Antivirus Plus, and we?re both sharing a router. Hers is using wifi, mine is wired. Does someone have any suggestions? Any help would be great!

P.S. I cleared off the box with (network icon/properties/power management/) "allow computer turn off this device to save power"/ but this has resolved nothing. The problem is still there.

A:Internet stops working until I restart. Plz Help!!

That might be the issue if your laptop and your moms is set for Windows to turn off your wifi adapter to save power that could break your connection if your computer is running off the battery and goes idle.

When this happens are you still connected to the router (Connected but there will be a yellow mark exclamation mark saying no internet) or is there a X?
Try changing the power settings Go to control panel>Power options>Advanced Options locate your wireless adapter set it on "Do not allow computer turn off this device to save power" click ok or save.

See if this help maintain your connection.

Let use know.

Hi!
So after using youtube for a while, my internet suddenly stops. The strange thing is there is no indication of any problems (wireless bars are maxed and with no yellow warning sign). I've also used xirrus wireless inspector and run the connection test with no problems. This problem has been going on for more than a month.
I'm also new here
Thanks in advance!

would appreciate some advice, but please keep it plain and simple as I am not that good when things go wrong with computers.

I regularly get a box appearing on my screen telling me that Internet Explorer has stopped working and the screen is frozen. After a short time, IE refreshes itself and starts working again. This can happen several times in a one our two hour period.

Bearing in mind my limited pc skills, is this something I can fix myself? It's an Acer desktop pc and IE11.

First of all, I'm running XP Media Center Edition SP3 (though the problem was also present with SP2).

I am connected to the internet through a cable modem. Basically, I'll be surfing the internet and pages suddenly stop loading (i.e. they all end up timing out after trying to load for quite a while). After a couple of minutes, everything will start working normally again. This is the case in all browsers (Firefox, IE, Opera). My XBox live connection (connected to the same modem through router) does not seem to suffer from the same sudden internet disconnection.

I've basically tried all issues related to spyware and viruses (going through all of the suggested steps and posting logs on the spyware forum). I was given a clean bill of health, so the problem is not malware related.

I've also tried things like rebooting the router and repairing winsock.

Any suggestions or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

A:Internet Stops Working Intermittently

Hi there...

I'm trying to help my mum with her computer.

For some reason, all of a sudden, her Windows Mail stopped working. Checked all settings - fine.

But also, as soon as you load the programme it stops the internet working entirely - connection still active.

I tried downloading Windows Live Mail and the same thing happens.

It's like it just kills Windows Internet Explorer dead. And no emails can come in or out.

Any advice?

A:Email Stops Internet Working???

Hi

Download Mozilla Firefox and try it and see if the same thing still happens with Firefox (Firefox is an internet browser same as Internet Explorer by the way.....just incase you had never heard of it but it is more popular than IE.)

Heres a Link

http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/

Post back and tell us if the same still happens, just to rule out IE being stupid as what has happened in many occasions lol.

I am the not-so-proud owner of a 3 year old Dell Inspiron e1505 (notebook). This piece of less-than-worthless crap stops connecting to the internet after 10 minutes. My other laptop (Gateway) has absolutely no problem connecting and is running just fine. Now, I am *not* using Vista, but rather I am using Windows XP. Do you have any suggestions as to the problem? I have a built-in wireless card, I've run virus scans and the whole shebang. For some reason my ethernet adapter is disabled and I have no idea why...but I do know it was disabled *after* the internet problems began occuring.

Any help is much appreciated!

A:Internet Suddenly Stops Working

Hi xstarsunx, Welcome to BC.That site, megaupload, isn't that kind of like a P2P site? I don't really know, I gave it a look and it seems that anyone can upload and download just about anything there. You may well have polluted your system there. I would suggest that you do the 'copy' thing to this post then dash over here --> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/ Don't post any kind of logs there unless one of the HJT Team members or a Moderator asks you for something. There's a good chance that you've infected your PC by using that site.Good Luck.Wendy

I have two network adapters on this computer. One is a wireless connection and the other is a hardwired one but it is going through a power line adapter. I do not have both enabled at the same time but which ever one I have connected, I run along just fine and then all of a sudden the internet stops and tells me that the page is not available. I then have to disconnect the adapter and reconnected it to continue. I have made the ip's static compare to automatic. I have done so many things ( tips found searching ) that I can't remember them all. Nothing seems to help. This problem just started about a week or two before Christmas. My other computer which is right next to this one has no problems at all.

Hi,

Basically, my internet's been fine until about a week ago. I'm currently using the Aztech DSL1000EW router/modem which has been working great up to now. My problem is this: after about 5-30 minutes (time fluctuates, annoying because after 15 minutes of continuous usage you think the problem's solved!) all webpages suddenly become 'unavailable'. I've disabled proxies under LAN settings, tried flushing DNS, resetting winsock with the netsh commands but to no avail. To get the internet to work again, I can just go to my router page, click disconnect and reconnect and it'll work for another 5-30 minutes.

From the various threads of people with the same problem, I can gather that this is due to a malware/spyware problem? I've used MAMB but it detected nothing on my computer.

Thanks for any help!

For me this is an OLD VERY frustrating problem The scenario is pretty simple and many of you are probably familiar with it Despite the fact you can find this exact problem plastered all over the internet in hundreds of forums Stops Internet After Working Awhile no one ever seems to have the quot practical quot solution IE I remember it happening in IE will be surfing along and then without warning it won't be able to connect to a page leaving that dreaded white error page Try as I will it will NOT connect to it until after what appears to Internet Stops Working After Awhile be a random interval when the internet will suddenly start working again The only other way to get the internet to work again is to reboot a common complaint for this problem No Its not my computer its not my phone lines its not my modem its not my router its not my provider You see this has happened on no less than six different computers each using different modems and different internet services with and without microsoft firewall with and without ZoneAlarm although I favor ZoneAlarm using a variety of internet services on all levels from Dialup to DSL and Etc I've seen it suggested that it may be due to a virus or some spyware hijacker etc but I find it hard to believe when programs like AdaAware find NOTHING on the computer I've seen it suggested that the cache may need to be deleted from the browser That makes sense to me but it doesn't fix the problem either What I have observed on my main computer is a Dell Inspiron B Laptop with Windows XP Internet Stops Working After Awhile is that for some reason when this phenomenon occurs packets are only being sent and not recieved and the packets being sent are increments of Another thing I have observed is how if I have a download currently running the problem does not start interesting considering a download is a forced constant quot packet recieve quot

A:Internet stops working randomly

hi uch

when you said you reinstalled vista from scratch, did you mean that you formatted your HD and then installed the OS or did you just reinstall Vista without a format? Also, have you tried checking for viruses when you "tried most things"? Go through the 8-step virus removal tool here ... http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic58138.html .... Does your brother use the computer you're using or is it the same type of computer but separate computers?

Hi I have a Dell Dimension running Windows XP SP I had been using a TrendNet Ethernet wireless adapter and was having problems I thought it had to do with the Ethernet Internet working works, stops then port on the PC so I just got a USB Wireless adapter figuring that would work better Unfortunately the same thing is happening The internet connection will work for some period of time after a reboot Then in a matter of several minutes it stops working The wireless status looks fine shows Internet works, then stops working connected with a very good signal However when I try to go to a website in both IE and Firefox it just hangs waiting I try to disable enable repair the wireless local connection but that does not work I have to reboot the PC to get it to Internet works, then stops working work again Now several months ago I did have to reinstall XP on the PC and am wondering if the driver installation was screwed up Unfortunately we had spotty internet before the reinstall so I can t specifically tie the problem to the reinstall Also I tried to reset the TCP IP information and Winsock and uninstall IPv as per other threads I saw on this forum - still does the same thing Note that all other wireless devices have no issues laptop Droid Wii TiVo etc so it s something with this PC I have a Netgear router supporting n and g And I d used the TrendNet adapter on another laptop with no issues Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated Thanks Here is the output from ipconfig all ipconfig all Windows IP Configuration Host Name kids Primary Dns Suffix Node Type Unknown IP Routing Enabled No WINS Proxy Enabled No Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection Connection-specific DNS Suffix Description Realtek RTL SU Wireless LAN n USB Network Adapter Physical Address - A-EF- B- - Dhcp Enabled Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled Yes IP Address Subnet Mask Default Gateway DHCP Server DNS Servers Lease Obtained Tuesday September AM Lease Expires Wednesday September AM nbsp

A:Internet frequently stops working

Hi:Sounds to me like the modem is starting to fail.
How old is it ?
Is it still covered under any kind of warranty from your ISP?
See if they will replace it.
Try running it without the filter.Unplug any phones the are sharing the dsl line. This is a long shot, but worth a try.
