I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I can move icons/windows up, right, left perfectly smoothly - HOWEVER

When I try to move them down, OR try to grab a scroll bar with the mouse and move it down, OR try the resize a window (either by grabbing the top or btm of the window) in a downward motion it will move between a few mm to a few cm then stop - and I have to regrab it with the mouse .... it can take a dozen attemtps to move a window or an icon to the bottom of the screen.

In fact moving sideways with a downward motion causes the same problem.

Any movement to the right, left or up moves totally smoothly......

Any suggestions? It's doing my head in !!

(NB. All motherboard, GPU, windows files are fully up to date.)

A:Moving windows/icons down problem!! Move right/left/up - no problem

Doh - just been for a walk and it suddenly dawned on me that I was having similar problems with my old computer (although not the the same extent).

The only common denominator was the mouse.

Sure enough, plugged in an old mouse - and all working fine!!

Sorry guys - but if nothing else a lesson in the need to sometimes go back to basics!!

If that Lenovo has the intel driver download on the Lenovo site - download it from there NOT the latest from Intel
Alternatively if Lenovo does not have it for your laptop try this one

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24329&lang=eng&ProdId=3712
checking that I have selected the correct one for your processor

Try that and when I return at 1800 hrs - I am in the UK I will come back to you to attempt to solve the other issues
Please post the full model of the Lenovo

hey guys i have seemed to run into a problem and some help would be appreciated the story goes like this yesterday i came home with a semi brand new gb maxtor hard drive in my hand i have a gb hard drive already in my dimension and i thought hey i got this for free from a friend so why not use it I take the original drive out so it was less annoying for me to work in that small space and put both drives back in i must have gone wrong somewhere because when i booted up it said that primary drive was not found after a while i got the computer to recognize both drives the gb is a western digital and the gb is a maxtor even though the computer is recognizing both drives when i go to boot after the first part the DELL sign and the loading bar it is just a black screen with a xp windows problem boot problem drive hard / blinking and after that it will boot to cd because as of now i have the xp professional installation disk in there now when i run the ide drive diagnostics under the boot screen it recognizes both drives but this one word scares me it looks something like this wdc the western digital drive - hard drive problem / windows xp boot problem thenabunchofnumbers - Fail - return code then the same thing with the maxtor drive underneath that hard drive problem / windows xp boot problem i wouldnt really have much of a problem just re-installing windows onto the original drive since i didnt have anything that was irreplacable on there but when i go to system recovery and the chkdsk option it recognizes that there is an installation of windows on the original drive and that all the information is still there im just afraid that if i do go ahead and re-install windows it still will not boot and i would have just lost my stuff a lose-lose situation eh by the way it is no problem if i would not be able to use the new drive because it will not be an inconvinience so yeah help would be greatly appreciated in this situation thanks guys nbsp

A:hard drive problem / windows xp boot problem

Hi exodent and welcome to the TS Forum

Right

you dont say how you connected the drives, or if they are IDE or SATA, did you

a) put them both on the same cable and set the jumpers correctly.
b) put them on seperate cables but have a CD or DVD on the same cable somewhere.

If its A then its possible that you have set them so that Primary drive 0 is now Primary drive 1 and thats why it wont boot.

Take out the drives and start again from scratch, find the one with the OS and make sure the jumper is set to Master and if you are using a cable that allows you to have 2 drives on it make sure it goes at the end of the cable and see if it boots.

If it does you now need to set the other drive as Slave and put it on the same cable and use the other IDE connector .

If it then misbehaves again and everything is set correctly then its possible that you have a drive that doesnt like having a Slave device attached to it, some IDE devices are like and your only choice is to put the 2nd drive onto the secondary IDE channel, again make sure you check the jumpers of any other devices you have on the channel.

Lastly some BIOS's allow you to set the boot device by actual connected device, such as primary device 0, primary device 1, for those that have this type of BIOS it means that they can have 1 or more drives with an OS and use the BIOS to decide which boots, other BIOS's just have the choice of HD or CD or Floppy in the boot order.

Hello, sry for the double post but I think its clearer like this than if I would etit the first post.
I just solved my problem on my own, here what I did, for the case that somebody has a simmilar problem or is just interested.

I just gave it another shot to get into the save moode and this time it surprisingly worked. I logged into to the account "administrator". Than I whent to Start/ Run and whent to "control userpasswords2". My username was in the group "debugger users" instead of "administrators". I changed this and now everything is normal again!

I am still wondering how this happend and why i could not enter the savemoode (and why it probably worked again)..... if anybody has ideas, i would be interested!

A:Printer problem needs guru. Looks like Windows not Brother problem.

Do you have it setup as a wireless printer? If so, reinstall the printer driver but use a USB cable initially.
Once that is working then setup wireless.

If you don't have the CD or can't find it, the drive is available from the Brother web site (I have the same printer).

Hi windows 7 community,
I have a problem with windows 7 since the first day i've installed the OS (couple of years), and i haven't been able to solve it yet. The problem is that when i have a main application window, and different documents(windows) open in that main application window, when i minimize those child windows, they appear abnormally small, like the screenshot bellow. normally it should display minimize/maximize/restore buttons, but it only displays a small close button
The problem occurs with all applications that allow child windows. Does anyone else have this problem? How can i solve this issue?
screenshot:

I've tried the basic theme too, hoping it would solve the problem, but didn't help, still i don't have the buttons completely:

When I try to boot into windows 7, it keeps running the boot fixing thing. After its finished it runs again. So I decided to re install windows 7. But I need more storage to install it. How can I boot into windows 7 when it cant get fixed by boot solver or it cant be re installed?

A:Windows 7 boot problem and installation problem.

Try working through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot . You'll need to disinfect to make sure it will repair, then confirm the Active partition and run the REpairs as given. Everything is there to try to get it started, up to if necessary rescuiing your files to run Recovery or Reinstall.

If this is factory OEM and it requires running Recovery or Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 you can upload 7gb storage to MS Skydrive with each WIndows Live/Hotmail ID. Later your can even Sync Any Folder to Your SkyDrive Account.

After reinstalling WinXP I then installed all relevant drivers. Everything was working well. Then I updated Windows. After sp3, everything still good. But after installing over 20 more Win updates, when rebooted I get the Blue Screen : STOP: 0x000000EA. Specifying that nv4-disp is in an infinite loop.
I've found suggested solutions that tell me to uninstall & reinstall the nv4-disp driver, but since it worked well until the updates I'm thinking that the problem is with one of those updates.
Anybody got any thoughts on this??

When I try to check for a solution to a problem (Control Panel\System and Security\Action Center\Problem Reports) a warning appears telling me to connect to the Internet or to try later?

The problem is that I am connected to the Internet while I receive this message and now I do not see any other way to check for solutions.
Anybody can help?

A:Very odd problem with shell. Windows environment problem.

UPDATE: This problem was caused by CleanUp! 4.0. I guess it's happened to quite a few people who have XP. Not sure if it's version specific, because I used this program before after a SpyWare run-in, at the suggestion of the crew here, and it worked flawlessly. The version that I used today, I downloaded today,

So - If you have XP - DON'T USE CLEANUP 4.0. The programmer indicates that version 4.5 should be better. I checked out their forum and there are people in the same boat as me.

Allegedly, booting with the XP CD and doing a "(R)epair" will replace the files that CleanUp erroneously deleted. I will report back to this thread the results, as this will undoubtedly happen to more folks.

Hi!

So, My McAfee stopped opening, when i attempt to open the program it appears with a white box, like its loading but just doesn't do anything, in the mean time i cant scan so after question after question (and not understanding a thing) on the McAfee website i gave up, i cant even uninstall the program because when i go onto control panel and uninstall again it brings up the white box

i then attempted to upload a cd on to my pc and it is telling to me repair jscript.

so after restarting my pc for updates it got stuck on the 'black screen' for ages lights were on but screen was just black keyboard wouldn't work (hasn't happened since)

i have no idea what any of this means

can anyone help me please?! (please don't be technical 'dumb it down')

thankyou!

A:Need help - Windows 7 - McAfee problem & Jscript problem

Hello toniiixx

Uninstall McAfee using MCPR. You can refer this article for instructions on how to use it.

After that I suggest you install Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows as your only antivirus. It's much better than McAfee.

A:Infected machine? - pop-ups / Windows Security Alert problem / Windows no disk error

BUMP, please

------
Also, an update since I originally posted this.

I already had Spybot installed prior to the problem, so I loaded Spybot Tea Timer to give me some sort of added protection while waiting.
It nuked numerous attempts by Run32dll.exe to access various dll files in the System32 directory, as well as adding various strings to the Registry.

During this time, the machine was extremely sluggish, but I could still use it to some degree.

But something happened yesterday, and now my machine won't even boot up. :(
I can't boot up in regular mode or in Safe mode.
All I get is the dreaded blue screen with a C000021A error. :(

I'm fortunate enough to have a backup drive that had all my working files, so I could continue my work on another machine.
But I stopped the backup when the problem popped up to avoid infecting any of the files on my backup drive.
So all of the data from the 3 days the virus problem started up is lost to me at the moment.

Please advise.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
If we clean this up like you did when helping me a year ago on another machine,
I'll be sure to donate again, like last time! :)
Thanks!

A:Virus, Windows update, user profile and now Genuine Windows problem

If it gives you a access denied message while trying to activate windows; you may very well need to change the permissions for your user name in order for you to have access to it as windows 7 has quirks about having access to certain items even if your user name is a administrator. As for the non genuine windows thing; I strongly advise you in the future to never go to a non genuine site for any free browser. Always type the url directly into the address bar of the browser you use as that way you will encounter less issues. To get rid of the non genuine opera copy. I would download and install revo uninstaller from the link below and that should help to get rid of any registry entries in windows as well as the program folder:

http://www.revouninstaller.com/downl...e-portable.php

download, install, and run the uninstaller from the above link then do a google search for opera browser. Thats your best bet at this point.

Hi everyone Problem with Update, and Essentials, Microsoft Windows Windows Security Firewall I m having an issue that I just noticed today Originally when I would click on Problem with Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Update, and Windows Firewall links in Problem with Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Update, and Windows Firewall Google I would get redirected to some random advertisement site That was a red flag to me so I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and went ahead and deleted whatever it found Then I started noticing that my Microsoft Security Essentials is not working It says quot Security Essentials is not monitoring your computer because the program s service stopped You should restart it now quot When I click to start it I get the following message quot Couldn t start the Security Essentials service The specified service does not exist as an installed service Error code x quot This raised another alarm for me as that usually is a sign of an infection I believe I then went to my control panel to check on Windows Update and noticed that the icon for it is just the red shield thing with an X in it When I click to check for updates I get quot Windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running You may need to restart your computer quot I also noticed a little bubble on the Windows Update screen that says quot Find out more about free software from null Click here for details quot I can t say that I ve ever seen that there before so it s a bit suspicious Lastly when I go to check on Windows Firewall I see it in red and saying quot Windows Firewall is not using the recommended settings to protect your computer quot and when I click on quot use recommended settings quot I get quot Windows Firewall can t change some of your settings Error code x quot I know this seems like three separate problems in one post but I am pretty convinced that they are all related to each other and there is a single source to all of it If anyone has any advice for me I would really appreciate it I m so confused about what s going on with my system Thank you all so much

I can only access my main computer running windows 7 64 bit in safe mode + networking - normal access gets stuck on welcome screen after entering password just prior to loading desktop. In safe mode looking at icon notification (show hidden icons) I saw windows update stating 'is downloading updates (71% complete) (whatever I have done 71% remains constant) running windows update troubleshooter finds problems I get two lines of results both saying 'Repair Windows update components Not fixed. I Have tried previous good configuration, system restore, (to 2 days ago prior to a windows update installation) and disabling windows update service. none of these have made any difference still stuck on welcome screen if I do normal start up. Also nothing happens when I try to run windows update from Start and All Programs, no error message just nothing I've run out of ideas please help.

A:Solved: stuck windows welcome page. Windows update problem?

Seems fixed - not sure what the root cause was - but in case someone finds themselves in a similar position, this is what worked for me. Plugged in a wired keyboard and mouse booted into safe mode, disabled all services apart from microsoft and intel ones. Stopped all programs loading on startup including anti-virus. I then restarted and booted as normal (ie not safe mode) I could now run windows update, so I did. Had a little trouble restarting the anti virus service but did a repair from the add/remove program in control panel followed by an update. Enabled all the services and programs I had stopped restarted and everything now seems ok. Not yet checked with the windows update troubleshooter not sure if I want to do that or not.........

We have .Net 4.5 based WPF application. It works correctly on Windows 7.
When we moved it to Windows 10 it started malfunctioning.
On investigation we found that when we type a set of 2 character typing will make one Chinese character.
In windows 7 when we press first character it is converted to <BLANK space> for display in text box. When we press another character again it decides the final Chinese character to render.

In windows 10 this behaviour has changed.
when we press first character it is NOT converted but render as it is. When we press another character it decides the final Chinese character to render, by replacing first and second character typed.

So i have this little problem when i try to use the windows classic theme. The problem is, when i change my theme to windows classic from the ''Personalization" menu and then try to click the Windows Startbutton it just doesn't do anything.. All other things work fine with that but just not the startbutton. And with the original (Windows 7 Basic) theme i don't have any problems..

Heres a video so you can undestand better:
http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/2679/myosproblem.mp4
Or if you want to watch it with browser
Imageshack - myosproblem.mp4

Btw in the video you can't really see the startbutton but it is there, its just some bug with the recording program i think..

Please reply! Ty.

Hello all I have a small network client machines and servers My servers are windows machines one acting as an SQL database host and one acting as a web server I also have a Server box which acts as my DC 2000 connection to problem Windows share 7 intermittent windows DNS and DHCP server The majority of my workstations are XP I'm slowly transitioning everyone over to w bit I've had some of these machines Windows 7 intermittent connection problem to windows 2000 share on the network for months with no problem but just since Tuesday of last week I've had all of the windows machines suddenly lose their network connections to the DC I am unable to ping the DC either by name or by IP address when this happens If I disable and re-enable the adapter it returns I've disabled power management on the adapters with no change This happens to every one of the windows machines simultaneously The XP boxes are unaffected I've tried restarting the services on the DC and fully restarting it as well Anyone have any idea Windows 7 intermittent connection problem to windows 2000 share Nothing has changed on the network that I'm aware of Any help would be greatly appreciated

A:Windows 7 intermittent connection problem to windows 2000 share

Well, Tuesday of last week would have been patch Tuesday - if you have your machines configured to install patches from WU or a WSUS server, the patches would likely have been installed. What happens if you take one of those machines back to a restore point before last Tuesday?

A:Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings...

You have no active AntiVirus!

Get the free AVG 7 install it, check for updates and run a full scan

AVG 7 - http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/
===========================

You may want to print this or save it to notepad as we will go to safe mode.

Fix these with HiJackThis – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: e1.dll

DownLoad http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip or
http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/killbox.exe

Restart your computer into safe mode now. (Tapping F8 at the first black screen) Perform the following steps in safe mode:

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Standard File Kill. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\e1.dll

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

START – RUN – type in %temp% - OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

Not all temp files will delete and that is normal
Empty the recycle bin
Boot and post a new log from normal NOT safe mode

Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system

Delete any versions of Combofix that you may have on your Desktop, download a fresh copy from either of the following links :-

Link 1
Link 2
Ensure that Combofix is saved directly to the Desktop <--- Very important

Before saving Combofix to the Desktop re-name to Gotcha.exe as below:

Disable all security programs as they will have a negative effect on Combofix, instructions available Here if required. Be aware the list may not have all programs listed, if you need more help please ask.

Close any open browsers and any other programs you might have running

Double click the icon to run the tool (Vista or Windows 7 users right click and select "Run as Administrator)

Instructions for running Combofix available Here if required.

If you are using windows XP It might display a pop up saying that "Recovery console is not installed, do you want to install?" Please select yes & let it download the files it needs to do this. Once the recovery console is installed Combofix will then offer to scan for malware. Select continue or yes.

When finished, it will produce a report for you. Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" for further review

****Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze ****

Note: ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making it the default browser.
Note: Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CDs, floppies and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you -- please tell us when you reply. Read Here why disabling autoruns is recommended.

*EXTRA NOTES*

If Combofix detects any Rootkit/Bootkit activity on your system it will give a warning and prompt for a reboot, you must allow it to do so.
If Combofix reboot's due to a rootkit, the screen may stay black for several minutes on reboot, this is normal
If after running Combofix you receive any type of warning message about registry key's being listed for deletion when trying to open certain items, reboot the system and this will fix the issue (Those items will not be deleted)

Post the log in next reply please...

Have you tried to reboot in "Safe Mode with Networking" yet? If not, please try that.

Do you recall the name of the trojan? Depending on what it was, a clean install might be required, but....before than, we will help you get your data of the disk first, so don't worry about that.

It will also help us if you can give us as much information about your system as possible. Please use this tutorial to help with that:

I felt like I got a virus, because my computer was going slower than usual, so I took the liberty of Downloading Avast antivirus while running one of the many scans it found like 3-4 viruses so I said to remove all four of them, but one of them was unable to delete, repair or put in the virus chest. I felt like the problem was solved because my computer speed was back so I didn't worry about it, today I was downloading a online game called Maple Story, and it is unable to play because of the Firewall, so I went to allow it and whenever I try to allow a program I get the error message saying Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows firewall settings. I am brand new to this so I don't know what to post like logs or w.e, please help me.

Ok, my computer was working fine yesterday and now i'm having this problem. Ok first of all, I turn on the power button to my computer and it loads up with the "Windows XP" welcome screen, but then after it finishes, it takes me to the screen where it gives me certain options such as "safe mode" or "safe mode with networking". My computer can't even reach the login screen anymore, so i don't know what is going on now. Much help is needed, thanks in advance.

A:Windows Xp Problem..booting Problem.

Have you tried System Restore?http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how_do_i_...stem_restor.htmHow Do I Perform A System Restore From Safe Mode With Command Prompt OptionIf a problem occurs and your pc crashes one way of getting things back to normal is to use System Restore. This is fine so long as you can boot your machine to the desktop, but what happens if you are unable to boot to the Windows XP desktop. Well you now have two options. The first is to reboot your machine, hit the F8 button and then select the Safe Mode option from the onscreen menu. Once in safe mode you can then access system restore just as you would normally from the Windows XP desktop (Start>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore). But what happens if you can't get into Safe Mode? Well you opt for the Safe Mode with command prompt option.1/ Re-boot your PC2/ As the PC is booting up keep tapping the F8 button3/ When the Option Menu appears on screen select the Safe Mode with Command prompt option4/ At the safe mode command prompt type: %systemroot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe5/ System Restore will now open and you can choose the relevant restore point

I just installed a new HP monitor and a new crucial SSD with Windows 8 so those recent driver installs may be related

With my Windows 7 HDD, when I recover from sleep mode I'm given a BSOD with a message about intelppm.sys file and stop error 0x0000007E. I tried renaming the intelppm.sys file to intelppm.bak but it didn't seem to resolve the issue

My other recent installations involve Dropbox, nvidia driver updates, new itunes, firefox update and uplay.

If it's worth noting, my Windows 8 SSD installation has no problem with sleep mode. Though I must have the settings different because with W7 the sleep mode recovers from mouse and keyboard, the W8 only recovers if I hit the power button.

Thanks

edit: ok the new gigabyte bios firmware has windows 8 support it seems, I upgraded and sleep mode seems to work fine now..

Error ID: 0x80070057

I have no idea what is going on and need help.

A:Email problem using Windows Live Mail in Windows 7

Hi Don, welcome to the Seven Forums.

That error message means there are messages in Outbox that can not be sent. To get rid of those, first click Work offline button in ribbon:

Now go to Outbox and delete all unsent messages. Check then your account settings; if the error message in your post was copy pasted there seems to be a typo; the mail server name has one extra space after first dot "mail. "

Shut down WLM, relaunch it and click Go online.

I have some major problems with upgrading Windows Vista, that I could not find any discussion about.

Here is the deal - I have a customer, that had Windows Vista (Slovenian, Home Premium) and bought Windows 7 for upgrade (also Slovenian, Ultimate). Naturally we ran the upgrade adviser and it checked out just fine - it did complain about some Power DVD program but I ignored that since I have upgraded before by others without problem. So the upgrade process began, it ran almost to the end when it suddenly, just before the end, resulted in error that said something about "unspecified or unknown error" and the installation should be ran again (and can not be continued). We tried to reboot without any luck - installation just keeps resuming - ending with the same error, also, it is impossible to run the upgrade again - because another one is in progress, I guess.

So I ask - how to finish the upgrade or, if able, to revert back to Vista - my customer NEEDS working system - he has many programs that are vital for his business and/or business continual. I know that he should back up his important files and such, but there are some accounting databases that could not be backed up so easily by him - and we are past that point now.
So please, any advice or suggestion on the proceedings would be welcomed and appreciated. Thank you!

Hi DarkMaster! I see that your customer needs to keep his data. Try doing a clean install. REMEMBER to use the instructions for METHOD TWO which are here: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

This should install 7, but still keep his data in a Windows.old folder on the desktop which you can then copy the files from.

Thanks,

Hi,
I'm having a problem with Windows Live Mail using Windows 7. When I click on a message to open it or forward it, it keeps flashing. Multiple copies appear in the task bar at the bottom of the screen. I have tried doing a repair of Windows Live and it did not fix the problem. The problem just keeps flashing and adding to the bottom bar over and over again.
The TSG Sys Info is below.

I've just installed Windows 7 64 bit, but I think I have a problem with the Windows Update module. I think it's corrupted or something. During downloading of Windows updates it has also downloaded an updated version of this module, and since then it takes a LOT of time for it to search for available updates, very slow.

And also, there is an update that cannot be downloaded, a cumulative security update for IE 11. Gives an "Error 80092004" message.
Anyway to fix this?

TIA

A:A problem with Windows Update on Windows 7 64 bit and error 80092004

Sorry I didn't follow the instructions

I've tried the Readiness tools (4 times), the SFC tool (5 times), nothing helped.

Screenshot attached (It's in Hebrew so I've marked the error number).

And, how can I send the CBS zip file? it's more than 100mb.

In 25 years of computing I have never encountered what I'm encountering currently with Windows 8.1. It's even difficult to explain it, but I'll try. One example: I go to Control Panel, click on "Sound", the window opens, and as it's displaying the info, everything scrolls up and vanishes. If I right click on a file then select Properties, then Details, the same thing happens. Does this make any sense to anyone? I made a screen capture video of these events and the video can be downloaded from the file sharing site "Box". If you would like to view the video to see if you can provide any info or assistance, the download link is: https://app.box.com/s/iqj5pfmloao9uo3wq509
The file is just 12mb

Hello recently I upgraded from XP to Windows Premium Home 7 64 bit.
Right after that my Brother hl-3070cw told me the factory original toner was low and refuses to print.
I replaced the old toner with a new one.
The printer says that it it READY.

But It Refuses to Print.

The printer will not even print the default Test Print.

Anybody have a solution?

A:Windows upgrade from XP to Windows Premium Home 7 64 bit, Problem.

Stupid question:

Have you installed the drivers for the HL-3070CW?

I have one, and it has a full driver suite for Win7 X64, available for download from Brother. The interface that I use is an Ethernet connection from the printer to a router. My main desktop is hardwired to the router, but I also have a laptop and secondary desktop that connect using WiFi. All three can print directly to the 3070.

A:Problem When Connecting Windows 7 PC to Windows 8 Notebook via LAN Cable

You are connecting directly with a cable between the two PCs, right?

In the Network and Sharing Center what is the designation for the network (Public, Home, ...)?

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Hi problem - 8 partition 8 RAW & boot Windows Windows Dual I have a nice work laptop which runs a custom Windows image The machine has an enormous hard drive and it struck me that it would be really good if I could dual boot it with a 'personal' image so that I can Dual boot Windows 8 & Windows 8 - RAW partition problem have my own applications internet etc on it The laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad and it has a UEFI bios and I've not used these before The drive is divided up into various partitions including system recovery and 'OEM' It also has a small SSD GB although I'm not sure what this is for and it is also labelled as Dual boot Windows 8 & Windows 8 - RAW partition problem 'OEM' Dual boot Windows 8 & Windows 8 - RAW partition problem I tried shrinking down the main primary partition to give me a decent amount of space and then installed Windows on to it using a USB stick From the reading I had done it seemed that all I would need to do is install it and it would automatically set up a dual boot Everything seemed to go OK and sure enough I got the dual boot screen come up It would boot my new Windows perfectly but when I tried to boot the work installation it didn't load - it tried to do an 'automatic repair' which failed Looking at the partitions in diskpart showed it as simply a 'RAW' partition This was a bit of a problem as I now couldn't boot my work image at all After some playing around in the BIOS I found that the boot order had 'Windows Boot Manager' first and the hard drive itself listed second If I changed the order so that the hard drive was first I could then boot the work image but when I looked in the disk management screen my new installation showed as a 'RAW' partition So somehow the boot order seems to be causing one or other of the primary partitions to become unreadable which is presumably why it won't boot I don't want to break the work image if I can help it but I'd love the dual boot to work Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and what to do about it James

Hi all,

I have a problem with a calendar sync between my new laptop with Windows 8.1 and my Lumia with Windows Phone 8. Ironic right? Anyhow, on my phone I use my live.com account for calendar. With my old outlook it worked quite good. It was syncing with cable
plugging and it was quite instantly.

Now, I set up my live.com account on my laptop and calendar picked up all event like on my phone. BUT, since then every entry I put in my phone or laptop calendar are not syncing. I am using live.com accounts on both. I figured how to sync gmail on my old
outlook so it works on Windows Phone but I still created live.com account because of these compatibility issues.

Anyone knows how to get them to sync these new entries?

TNX!

Hi,
The page tell us how to synchronise your calendars, please do like its description.
Another way is Factory Reset your phone, then re-configure.

Anytime whenever I open any windows 8 app (Store, Change PC settings, ect.) it will be visible on the task bar but when I click on it it immediately just minimized itself and ive tried everything I can think, I cant even do a windows restore because it says that there is no program with that name. Im somewhat experienced with computers but this has me clueless.

A:Major Windows problem, no windows apps open.

Go to C:\ProgramFiles from here you need to unhide the hidden and system folders
You should see your windowsapps folder then. Make sure that folder has the administrator power it needs to read/write etc.
ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES need the following permissions to execute properly:

Read & execute, List folder contents and Read in the following locations
C:\WindowsC:\Program Files (x86)C:\Program FilesList folder and read data, Create Folders and Append Data
C:\Users\<userName>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WERRead
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\DriversHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWAREHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SAMHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWAREHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEMHKEY_USERS

You should then be able to do a restore.

This link also has some great insight on the issue I believe you may be having.
