I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Here is a quick summary for those who don t want the whole shebang I need suggestions for a good ATX motherboard and CPU that will handle simple games like Roblox and p movie streaming I have a nearly year old desktop computer nothing special at all It is the family desktop so it will not be used for anything other than super light gaming my nephew plays Roblox CPU/Mobo upgrade non for gaming on it surfing and watching movies I bought a BenQ p monitor for my own gaming PC and connected it to both that and this desktop to give the rest of the family a bit of an upgrade I noticed right away that the computer CPU/Mobo upgrade for non gaming already performed slower with this higher resolution It is also running a -bit processor and I have a copy of windows pro bit that I want to put on that machine so I need suggestions for a CPU and mobo that will run me less than buying a new computer from scratch The parts are all good and well maintained I just want to upgrade to bit so that we can take advantage of the free upgrade to windows and possibly even adding more memory in the future if my nephew starts playing higher quality games as he gets older EDIT my only requirement is that the motherboard must be full ATX since I do not want to replace the case Any suggestions are welcome Thank you nbsp

If you do indeed have a full ATX case, it will fit mATX as well as miniITX motherboards.

What exactly is your budget?

Newegg has kits anywhere from $100 to $800. - http://www.newegg.com/DIY-PC-Combos/PromotionStore/ID-33/Page-6

I know you said you didn't want to replace the case but for around 300 this is not a bad deal

You can find lower prices at Tigerdirect with smaller bundles. - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_tlc.asp?CatId=14
In my opinion don't get a kit with Celeron or Pentium, unless you are planing an upgrade in the future to i5 or i7. Bewarned though that Intel pricing doesn't fall as quickly as one would hope.

As for AMD suggestions, you'll need to speak with someone else. I'm not an AMD follower. I will admit that for the best savings AMD is the way to go. But then performance wise they struggle to compare to Intel, when you match prices. Which is the very reason I advised not to get Celeron or Pentium. The i3 or comparable AMD is the perfect performance level to be. Anyone needing more power will know they need more.

Hey guys, I've just upgraded my 5 year old pc with almost everything new. I got an Asus Maximus VII Ranger & an i7-4790k cpu & other new stuff except my graphics card & ram, 2 x 8gb Hyper X Fury 1600mhz. What I don't understand is reading the manual about the speed of ram I can install.

4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 3200(O.C.)/3100(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2600(O.C.)/2500(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory *
Dual Channel Memory Architecture
Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)
* Hyper DIMM support is subject to the physical characteristics of individual CPUs.

I would like to install higher speed rams like 2400mhz or higher if possible (are there even 3000++ mhz ddr available? Looking at my local shop, 2400mhz ddr3 is the highest) without overclocking but I'm lost at the " (O.C) " bit. Do I need to overclock them to get at that speed or can I just get rams that are made at that speed? Thanks!

A:Need info on RAM to install on new mobo

The OC means you will need to OC your motherboard to use RAM rated at that speed. If you are not planning on OCing, just get the 1600/1333 Mhz modules.

BTW the average person would never notice the differences in RAM speeds. Memory is not the bottleneck in computing.

I heard that Gigabyte downgrade their boards with revisions of its original motherboards. It's easy to spot since they have Rev 1.1 or Rev 2.0 or Rev 3.0, but with a same EAN code shops can't tell the difference. Does this also happen with other brands? I'm worried that my next purchase, I end up buying a down grade version if I don't buy the first batch...

Back again doing more upgrades on my old system.

I recently purchased a MSI|Z87M GAMING MATX R and a INTEL|CORE I5 4590 3.3G 6M R to replace my old MSI K9A2GM-FIH mobo and my AMD Athlon Duo core CPU.

Trying to find out the best way to the the change over, since my old components uses AMD chipsets and the newer ones will be Intel chipsets.

I'm, also, wondering if there is a way to install these items without having to do a clean install for the Windows 7 OS.

A:New Mobo & CPU

You are changing not only the processor, but the motherboard. You have to do a clean install of Windows. Windows must be reinstalled to work on the new motherboard or it wont work. The reason why is because different motherboards use different drivers due to the difference in their hardware. Fresh install will give you a whole lot less headaches.

Yes it has, the motherboard in question has a "PCI-x16" which means that all and any new graphics card (GPU) should fit. However, you may want to check what power supply (PSU) you have since new GPU might require more power.

18 SATA ports (10 are SATA3 ports from the Intel X99 Express chipset, 8 are SAS ports stemming from the LSI SAS 3008 controller) and five PCI-E 3.0 x 16slots for 4-way graphics cards! 600$ motherboard for some serious business, I think this would be ideal for a video editing workstation..

A:Replaced MOBO on Dell 5510 BIOS sticker on MOBO says A05, system in still has BIOS of A07

Removing the battery won't change the BIOS version. You need to download the version you require from the Dell site. From Windows you "flash" the BIOS. Take your time preparing for this. If anything goes wrong you will wreck your motherboard.

Your motherboard is designed for the socket LGA 1155 series of Intel processors. The i7 4790k that you ordered is the newest Intel 4th generation of cpus called Haswell. It is a socket LGA 1150 processor and will not work in your current board as per ASRock specs.

Also, 8 gigs is more than enough for gaming. Unless you are doing video rendering and graphics intensive applications you don't need 12 or 16 gigs of RAM

Hello guys,

I am on the hunt for a new gaming headset since I had to throw my old one out when I moved.

I have decided to put in a decent amount of money ( Around 150-200Ł ) and I have had my eyes on Sennheiser 363d for some time now. It comes with a USB soundcard. I am unable to fit a soundcard in my PC since its a mini itx build so it sounds like a good investment in my ears.

I have also been checking out Turtlebeach xp seven however it does not come with a USB soundcard.

Now I am just wondering, My mother board :
Gigabyte Z87N-WIFI Motherboard
Has the following audio features :
Realtek® ALC892 codec
High Definition Audio
2/4/5.1/7.1-channel
Support for S/PDIF Out

Is that sound good enough to handle on its own or do you think id get an improvement with the soundcard from 363d?

Have you any experience with 363d or Turtlebeach Seven? What do you think about them?

I appreciate any inputs, also if you know of a headset I have totally overlooked

Kind regards,
Obzoleet!

Hello,

I just finished assembling my first build. At first it turned on without a hitch, was able to install windows and a few drivers.

I had to restart a few times, which went fine for the first few times, and then it just didn't boot back up. The power button doesn't do anything, the fans don't start, nothing happens.

When I jump the psu, all the fans start, so I'm thinking the issue must be with the mobo..

Here's a list of all the parts I'm using : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/JFVvD3

Thanks.

A:Mobo issue? Custom build won't start anymore

First, are any wires touching that might be causing a short such as a wire touching the back of the mobo? Second, I had something similar happen to me a few years ago with a new build. There is a tried and true though often tedious way that can help diagnose possible issues.

1. Remove all hardware except for one RAM stick from the motherboard and this includes Sata and fan connections to peripherals such as your SSD, etc,

2. Now see if the system boots with only the one RAM stick. If it boots then shut down add the second stick of RAM and then reboot. If it boots then repeat by adding a piece at a time.

3. If is doesn't boot then it is either your mobo or your power supply. Also, check to see if your heat sink is seated correctly.

BTW, nice little system there.

I have an old Acer Aspire m3100 desktop and the case to it is broken, I have another case for it but I do not have the installation manual to show me how to reconnect all of the connections from this other case. How can I get or find the diagram showing how to make all connections to this motherboard. I'm trying to restore this computer for my grandson? any help would be appreciated, I've tried contacting Acer but they won't help unless the computer is under warranty and their third-party support doesn't do hardware issues?? Case wiring is pretty standard in most cases (no pun intended). Any details you have about the case your switching to would be helpful.

Motherboards mostly have the names of sockets screen printed next to them.

My work is technical and to keep up with the times I am considering Windows 8, though I don't have a touchscreen. I am not sure the kind of configuration to use and am open to ideas. The current hard drive I have is a slow 1TB one. I was planning on setting up the SSD as a cache.

EDIT: my motherboard is Asus p8z68-v le

A:Setup with 1TB harddrive and fast 250GB SSD

I would not recommend setting up a cache at all with that large capacity SSD. Usually people cache with 64GB SSDs, but in your case, you might as well just migrate data to the SSD and use the HDD for bulk storage (large files).

I finally found out why my wireless keyboard didn't work as I mentioned in another thread several months back.
Evidently the USB wifi thingy was in a USB port that didn't work. When I was going thru this thread http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/unknown-device.202706/
I removed it thinking it might be the unknown device.
Anyhow, I've been trying to find the manual for my wireless KB & can't find it.

I have an issue with my brothers computer I have upgraded my brothers computer with a new PSU I connected all the ends and powered it on Because my brothers computer is an older one the new PSU came with a pin CPU v my brothers MOBO is a pin So I plugged it in closest to the sides The PSU s fan would spin the lights in the front would light up and I see the RAM indicator lights turn on but I never reach the boot screen of BIOS I double checked the connections nothing is unplugged I thought PSU compatibility mobo I either fried the MOBO or the PSU was a DOA So I placed the old PSU back in the computer plugged everything accordingly and it booted up with no PSU mobo compatibility problems I went back to the new PSU did the paper clip trick attaching the green wire to a black wire and checked all the connections with a volt meter to see if the connections are going through All the connections are supplied appropriately So I went back to the computer leaving the old PSU inside still attached I placed the new PSU to the side I only disconnected the pin connection and the pin from the MOBO connected to the old PSU Using the new PSU connections I ONLY plugged in the pin and the right half of the pin into the pin on the MOBO I pressed the power button still the same result No boot up screen at all just the fans spinning both PSU and CPU fans and the RAM indicator lights turned on Before I hear people saying did you plug in the video card the video card does NOT need power directly to it because is old there are no slots for one So plugging that in is not an option I don t know what to do about this I have absolutely no idea what is going on I cannot get the spec as the moment but I can get them as soon as I can Thank you for your time nbsp

So after looking around for a couple weeks I have finally narrowed it down to these two options. By the way this is just a gaming rig only. So heres what I have came up with now consider both mobo/cpu setups they pretty much cost the same which is around the $550 area and are at my highest budget also both boards support 2x 16x PCI-E which would be nice for my dual 7970s.

First is:
Intel i7 4770k cpu - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116901
Gigabyte G1 Sniper 5 mobo (currently has a $100 rebate)- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128595

Second is:
AMD FX-9590 Vishera Black Edition - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113347
ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131876

By the way I forgot to add I have a fully custom watercooling loop with multiple radiators And everything will be powered by a XFX PRO 1250watt PSU so power and cooling is no issue with either setup I decide to go with. Thanks for the help open to any opinions.

Do you intend to overclock at all is my first question.

But basically if your just making a gaming rig, the i7 will probably be the better choice for you.

Hi guys, I want to connect my ps3 hard drive on pc to use it on pc, so when I get my new computer I can use it with it straight away, but right now I want to use it on my current pc, I plugged in both the one cable and the other one (sata), that goes from power supply cable to the HDD.

when I booted the pc it said installing device drive software, and said, device is ready to use, I go to my computer, and it ain't there, do I have to set it as secondary in bios?

Win7 Ultimate final rev

It's automatically set as fourth IDE master. restarted pc and still doesn't show up, I heard I need to format, is that true? like that to know if I should re-gain windows 7 disk

A:Power button not working... mobo issue?

Not the switch. Could be the motherboard or PSU, but I don't have any good insight.

I would unplug the PSU and flip the 120/240V switch to 240V, then flip it back before plugging it in. To me, this doesn't make any logical sense, but over about 16 years of playing with PCs I have seen it work twice.

Can you help me on which combination of those mobo+graphics card gives me better performance? I be happy if u help on

A:GTX 760/ HD 7950 + mobo advice

Either combination would offer pretty much the same performance.
Of the motherboards, I'd go with an AsRock over the MSI. My personal experience with MSI boards is rather mixed to say the least. Of the two AsRock boards, they are similarly appointed, and should be similarly priced.
If you're looking at the overclocking ability, that is more down to the silicon lottery that is CPU fabrication rather than board ability. Both AsRock boards should feature the same OC headroom.

As for the graphics cards, assuming price isn't the main consideration and cryptocurrency minng hasn't sent AMD cards higher than they should be, both the GTX 760 and HD 7950 are well matched and capable cards. How they fare will depend upon which games you plan playing.

If it comes down to a reference HD 7950 and a vendor overclocked GTX 760, I'd go with the latter, and the MSI Gaming version over the Asus DC2. The MSI card will be quieter and likely have more overclock headroom.

My brother in law has a got himself a free computer to which I am going to donate my old Sapphire X1950GT graphics card. The problem is, is that I can't easily wire it in to the computer as it has a crappy generic PSU with only one Molex and several Sata power plugs.
What I do have, without slicing and dicing and getting out the soldering iron, is the adaptor cable below. What I don't know is whether this has a sufficient amount of wires I.e. 0V and 12V to provide power to my G/Card.
Any ideas?

Tom.

A:Wiring a graphics card to a generic PSU - sufficient power wires on plug?

System power consumption with a Sapphire X1950 GT is less than 250W. I think you will be fine with the splitter mentioned above. You probably don't need much extra power to run the card. I assume there is at least a 300W PSU or greater in the system.

My SSD is not detected in BIOS but when I run the windows CD it does recognize it as a partition. I just can't format and reinstall it, the windows message says it's because BIOS not detecting it. Anyone else experienced this or know the solution?

My MOBO is a gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP

A:SSD not detected in new MOBO

Did you delete the existing partition? If you delete all partitions on the drive, you should end up with all unallocated space, then you should be able to format, or just tell Windows to install on the drive and it will format it. BTW a "full" format is recommended in this situation (instead of a "quick" format), even though it's a lot slower, especially if you had Windows on it before (Google it for the long explanation why). Also try a different SATA cable and port if possible, cables can go bad.

If you would like to start by listing a few parts, there are several members here that can help you tweak the list.

You mentioned wanting built-in WiFi. I'm almost certain if you want a good motherboard, you would have to ditch that thought. A mPCIe slot is used for motherboards that come with Wifi, and they are usually only packaged with small form factor boards. I'm almost certain you don't want a small form factor for you build.

There are more concerns you should look at first, for starters is the socket type the same or do you plan on getting a new CPU along with it. Plus in my book, going from an Asus to a Biostar would be a down grade, why don't you post your specs and we can give you some assistance on upgrading your machine as just swapping boards would not change much if anything.

But to answer your question, Yes the PSU will still work.

You hear all the time that the build up of static electricity from your body could short the components on the mobo. I know if you ground yourself you greatly reduce this risk but I was just wondering where the sensitive parts on your mobo were? Just any exposed metal part? Is the entire back of the motherboard sensitive? should you avoid touching the back at all? If so, how do you pick up and install your mobo?

A:Where are the sensitive parts on mobo?

All parts on mobo are joined somewhere, so discharging your static on any place will be bad.

Just watch out for the capacitors and any spikey exposed bits, and yes the back.

Pick it up from the sides, like a CD.

I had to format and re-install Windows XP on a Satellite A105-S4201 Laptop. I installed XP, and updated to SP3. The brightness control no longer works using Fn+F6/F7 (or any other way for that matter). It was working before the format.
I tried a couple of different Common Modules installs. This one: tc00324000b (version 6.07.03) won't even install. Gave me error message, "TVALG Driver installation has failed". And this one: SPA210 TCommon Modules-XP (version 1.00.06) installed, and had me restart, but when I tried to install the hotkey utilities afterward, it said "TOSHIBA Common Module not found! This setup will terminate." Also, I have the latest BIOS version installed (v 6.0)
Any ideas?

I have bought a lot of asus products the last few years, though recently I have had a terrible experience with their customer service. So much so that I'm thinking of trying other brands, specifically for motherboards. I was wondering what others experiences have been with other brands of mobos (Gigabyte, MSI, Etc.). Which brands are most reliable? Hows their customer service compare? Stuff like that. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks guys!

ASUS is the best, but I wouldnt go with them if I were to build a Z87 based system because the gold color scheme is not for me. ASRock has been improving lately. MSI is eh. Gigabyte is the best overall brand other than ASUS.

I can't give you a list. It would be easier to simply look up the specs on the motherboard you are interested in. This day and age, the list is rather limited. If your OS is an OEM copy of Windows, you could be de-activating your copy with a different motherboard. If you possibly can, it is best to get the exact same motherboard.

As for shopping locally in Las Vegas, it might be better to ask someone locally. Members here are located all around the globe, and may not know anything about Las Vegas.

So I got my graphics card, memory and cpu heatsink attached to my asus sabertooth z87 mobo and test with an external test. I get 1 long beep followed by 5 short beeps, although there is a small pause before the final (5th) beep. Now I only have the speaker in and do not have anything connected to a monitor. The manual says 1 continuous beep followed by 4 short ones is hardware failure but it doesn't say anything about a 5th beep that comes after a small pause. So I'm trying to decide what mobo I want for my gaming/video ediiting pc build. I've gotten a few suggestions from people to really look towards the x79 mobo's that have the 2011 socket. They say that the 2011 should have a longer shelf life due to its support of future 6 core CPU's from intel. My question is do you guys thinks its worth getting a 2011 mobo? or should I just stick with the 1155 mobo? If you think 2011 then what 2011 mobo would you suggest? (going for a 1500 - 1700 dollar pc).

A:MOBO socket 2011 or 1155?

I think you should focus on what CPU you want to base your build around rather than the MOBO. That will make the choice for you seeing as a CPU is only compliant with certain socket types.

I would only make that recommendation based on whether the person will be overclocking. Neither Intel or AMD will package their CPU with a cooler that not sufficiently adequate under non-overclock conditions.

Have you assembled a parts list or are awaiting feedback first?

I recently put my computer tower in my bedroom hooked up to my TV.
Everything is great, except I don't have the internet (no cable and not looking to drill into my floor).

My router is close by and signal is strong so I just want to install a wireless network card.
Problem is, the ones I see online seem to be for the PCI-e slot. Well, I have a video card already occupying my PCI-e slot. It's also really thick so it also takes up two slots )covering what looks like to be the spot I would put the Network Card).

The only accesable slots remaining are the two white PCI slots at the very bottom. Can a wireless network card be installed in one of those slots? Got any recommendations for one that will work?

MOBO Specs here

Here's the Mobo

Thank you all very much for your help!

A:Which Wireless Network Card for my MOBO ?

Yes, you can use a PCI wireless adapter. There are various brands and models but I don't have a specific recommendation because I don't happen to use one. Most are not too expensive.

As an alternative you can use a USB wireless adapter. I've used one on the end of a 3' USB cable extension so I could move it around for better reception. I have this installed on one of my PCs and it's a Rosewill USB adapter with an external antenna (RNX-G1). The RNX-G1 has been superseded by newer models which I haven't tried yet but it works well and I like it a lot. I've used a couple other brands but Rosewill has worked the longest and most reliably so far. USB wireless adapters are fairly inexpensive and very simple to install. You just install the driver/software package first, then plug in the USB adapter, it gets detected by the PC, then select your wireless network (SSID) and enter the password. It gets its power from the USB port and needs no external power source.

Another alternative which I use on my main computer is a wireless AP or access point. These are generally much more expensive and require a bit of work to configure and set up but once it is set up all you do is plug it into your computer's LAN port via a network cable. No software needs to be installed on your PC except for the LAN driver which should already be installed. I use this method because it doesn't tie up any USB ports and I have several computers that I rotate in and out of my computer desk and all I have to do is plug in the LAN port, hit the reset button on the AP and it's connected. A wireless AP needs to be plugged in for power.

Just a curiosity question, when building a computer from scratch, what do ya'll choose to do first:
Pick a CPU and then a compatible motherboard?
Pick a motherboard and then a compatible CPU?
Or something different?

A:Which do you choose first: mobo or cpu?

I tend to base my component choices around the CPU. A motherboard will provide effectively no performance increase for your system, and serves as a sort of connector for all your other components.

Definitely choose your CPU first, as it is a much more important decision.

That being said, it is still important to get a good quality motherboard.

I've built computers plenty but MOBO's have always thrown me off. As long as the CPU fits on the MOBO and you have enough RAM slots and the correct Vid Card slot... why pay $200 for a MOBO when you can get it all to run on a $50 MOBO? Just for expansion in the future? Quadrupling your price for a possibility of expanding isn't in my budget so what are your thoughts on a MOBO for these 2? I heard on TigerDirect.com you need a 9 series MOBO to handle the FX4100. Side note, I bought a 550W PSU

A:Have a CPU and video card - thoughts on mobo?

Well, price sometimes matters if you are an enthusiast. For example, some ASUS motherboards on the Z77 side go for like $400 bucks because they have better on board audio, and have the option to liquid cool the board (plus there are better passive heatsinks for improved cooling). These are just 2 examples of what your money will get. Also, higher end boards may have more SATA 6GB/s ports. I would recommend getting a $100 motherboard from Amazon or Newegg. Tiger direct is overpriced. I would put your money saved from the motherboard to getting a 650Ti. It will get you ~25% better performance over the 7770.

A:Data recovery from drive with lost format, software recommendations please

Oh crap. Something like this happened recently to me when I had backed up some data to an USB thumb drive. It worked fine for awhile, then some weeks later, my PC just couldn't read it anymore (kept saying "disk in drive needs to be reformatted/etc"...and the properties for the drive also showed it as RAW format instead of FAT32 like it would have been usually).

I think the issue is drive corruption, which seems to be fairly common with external devices like USB drives, but odd in the case of an internal drive. The remedy for me was to try to access it from a different system, which was easy since being a USB stick I could try it elsewhere easily. If you can use another system to access the drive, preferably a Linux/Ubuntu based one; it is likely your best bet to recoup the data before its lost permanently. An external HDD kit would be ideal, and they are quite cheap also.

Hope this helps!

A:Ok to use RAM not on mobo's QVL?

The i5 3570K is only $25 more than the FX-8150 and a comparable Z77 motherboard isn't too much more either. At those prices there's not really any reason to go for the FX-8150 which is slower and uses a lot more power.

Regarding the SSD I'd go for a Crucial m4 over the Sandforce based Kingston for the same price.

Is there any way for me to do it myself? The new part alone is gonna cost me as it is.

No, definitely not! You want to get a replacement and report that to the manufacture. To try and force it in, you risk damaging your CPU. Then you would be out of a MOBO and CPU.

I have a 16gb (4x4gb) kit of GSKill Ripjaws Z arriving tomorrow and need to enter the timings manually for them to work properly on my P9X79 Pro motherboard. How do I go about doing this?

The kit is rated for 1.50v at 9-9-9-24. Do I have to enter correct BCLCK and CPU ratio values, as well? Pretty much everything is on auto default right now with my DDR3 1333 RAM kit.

I've attached a snapshot. I'm not sure it'll help, but then this is just about all I know of the BIOS. I'm a total noob and haven't done much exploration. Here's some info on the RAM kit:

Can anyone out there please help me?

A:Help setting RAM timings on mobo

Under "memory frequency" you should see a list of speeds you can select, these correspond to the various FSB/RAM ratios. Pick the one that's suitable for your RAM. If you scroll down you should see the DRAM voltage and timings, just type in the values.

Not sure about SB-E but for SB the BCLK doesn't budge... not even by a few Mhz so you're better off leaving that alone at 100Mhz and using the CPU multiplier to overclock that 3930K. So to run your RAM at its rated 1600Mhz your FSB/RAM ratio would be 1:16.

A:Wireless connection lost, impedance problem...what?

The company should be able to supply you with a new modem to attempt a fix. This should not be something you are billed for, generally you should be billed if the issue is caused by something other then their product(the Modem) or the telephone line leading to your house+the demarcation point.. These are all things that the ISP should be covering.

Does this issue happen when you are connected by Ethernet cable? Or JUST wireless?

If this is limted to a wireless issue then I would say that it is an issue that is fixable on your part:

Things to look at: Phone lines(Filters on your phones)
Wireless Phones, Microwaves, any new wireless devices in the house.. Wireless devices can cause interferance with eachother. lots of wireless phones work on the 2.4GHz frequency, the same frequency that 802.11 works on (Wireless) If this fixes the issue, try each phone separtly to narrow down the issue.

To eliminate phones as the issue, you could disconnect all your phones in the house, and test your wireless connection and see if it improves. To make sure it is not due to distance/interferance (Physically) Set up the laptop within 3 feet of the router and see if any issues happen connecting to the router.

Microwaves also work on the 2.4GHz frequency at times and can cause interference when running, but this would be a rare disconnect.

Lastly, if this is simply an issue overall (Wireless and hardwired(ethernet)) then I would suggest connecting to their modem directly, ensuing there is nothing between you and their device. IF there is still an issue, replace the cables between the Modem (The phone cable) as well as the ethernet cable to your computer.. If there are still issues then this is left to the ISP to fix and should not be at your cost.

You pay for their services and this should include the service and repair of their device. Modems tend to break down/overheat and have issues over time, they should be able to supply you with a new one.

They both look like great boards. To me the Rampage looks like the better board in terms of features. Although the sabertooth does offer a lower price. It all comes down to how much you want to spend. If you don't mind the bump in price I would go for the rampage. If price is of concern and you do not mind for the extra bells and whistles like quad SLI/CFX W/ latest generation PCIe then go for the sabertooth.

I did notice the Sabertooth did offer some cool features regarding cooling. That personally would be a plus in my book.

Wait to see what everyone else says. I would also check out the reviews from the customers. They both earned 4eggs at Newegg. See what people liked and disliked and make a choice.

I recently hibernated my dell inspiron 1545 laptop and the following morning it would not power up. I tried with the battery alone still nothing. Even with the power adapter still it would not power up. What should i do?

A:Dell Inspiron 1545 mobo not powering up

It may have nothing to do with the hibernation.
Check your power socket very carefully... The socket has been breaking away on some models... This is a "flat soldered" device, and when it breaks awayf from the motherboard, the board and other components cannot get power.
This requires a re-soldering by a person who is expert in flat solder techniques... it is not a job for first timers.
Whatever the problem, you would likely benefit from having it tested by a shop or technician who has all the right tools for testing circuits, power input, and power output.
It could also be a fusable resister or other device.
Plan to spend some money... Diagnostic time from an expert can be expensive.

My main graphics card is a GTX470 & since I have a spare PCIE-16 slot I thought to throw in my 9800GT "just for Physx".

The question is will I just add it, & give it power from the PSU, remove the old driver & reinstall a new driver so that it detects both of the cards?? or how

Besides, is it worth doing so??? will I see performance gains in games that have physx?

Not sure if you can with a crossfire mobo, But to be honest its more likely to decrease your overall performance even if it is possible.

For the last month my new pc rig has ran fine, with only one BSOD wich I located and found a driver fix for it (marvell btw) but today I booted it up and now my integrated bluetooth shot me an error message. "Cannot detect bluetooth device in com port 0" Any thoughts? It was working fine till today, and I have seen a few posts from other people with same issue but no solutions. This is an Asus P8Z68-V PRO/Gen3 Motherboard.

Hi everyone, I got a new mobo and cpu yesterday and after installing all the parts I put my old hdd in, after the pc boots I got an error; no hard disk detected. i know the hdd is fine because i put it back in my old build and it booted fine, i know when installing a new mobo you should format which ive been trying to do but when i reach the window where you choose the language theres no mouse or keyboard working, and i know the mouse and keyboard is fine because i used both in the boot menu. my current specs are p8z68-v asus intel i5 2500k nvidia 560ti asus corsair 850watts 8gb ram 500gb hdd ps; sorry for poor grammar and spelling mistakes but was forced to write this on my phone. Also, i looked in my bios and it clearly names both my hdd and blu ray drive.

A:New mobo doesn't detect HDD, no mouse or keyboard control in Windows setup

First, try the basics. Take out the 560 and just install the RAM, CPU, HDD and PSU and see if you can get to BIOS.

Hi my brother bought me a intel pentium E6600 I believe he says this one http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Pentium...-06GHz/dp/B0034MJH78/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top I'm looking at cpu compatibility support and I don't see this cpu listed I do see E5300 and stops there. Should I return it when it gets here or try to see if it works? i dunno if your allow to return open cpu item from amazon.

My motherboard is 750i sli

A:XFX 750i mobo with E6600?

You probably need to contact XFX Support (an oxymoron if ever there was one) since you need to register with them to get any info.

Technically, the 750i supports Wolfdale (45nm) dual and quad-core. The problem lies in that the E6600 is a relatively late arrival...and XFX basically lost interest in motherboards about the same time as the 750i SLI hit the shelves, and unlike EVGA, XFX decided that ongoing (legacy) support wasn't a high priority. There may be compatibility for the E6600, although I wouldn't bank on it. There's also the possibility that the board would need a BIOS update...and of course, XFX are alone in requiring people to register with them before they can download BIOS/drivers/utilities.

My question is will G41 support E5200? I know G31 does but not so sure about G41. I'm upgrading my xfx mobo to e6500 cpu and buying a mobo to use e5200 with.

I know there are better cpus and mobo but this is my plan. thank you for reading.

Hello everyone,

I'm thinking of building a new PC:

1. My budget is around 2,000 (US $)

2. Configuration:
Cabinet- Thermotake Level 10 GT.
MB- Asus Sabertooth X79.
CPU- i7 2600 (because i can't afford the higher ones right now).
Graphics- MD Radeon HD 6950.
HDD- Western Digital 2TB.
Monitor- ViewSonic 24" LED VX2450WM.

3. First question,does Asus Sabertooth X79 support i7 2600?
Second, What about the Graphic card?

4. I would highly appreciate it if you guys can tell/advice/suggest me if the config is alright or not.

Thanks.

A:Mobo, CPU and graphic card compatibility question

Graphics card will work but the CPU won't. you need either of these CPU's.

SandyBridge (SB) was never designed to be a replacement for X58 but a replacement for LGA 1156. Due to some of the architecture design changes, the CPU is size changed so it is no longer compatible with the LGA 1156 or X58. The X58 is still considered Intel's Highend Setup until the X79 was released.

The issue Intel has created is that the performance of the SB is so good, it has made both previous platforms obsolete in terms of price to performance. There is no need to purchase a 2011 socket setup and the X79 is only king on high resolution multiple card setups (high level multi-tasking / CS5 / AutoCAD work is ruled by the i7 980X) due to the lack of bandwidth restrictions.

If you don't plan on running dual cards or over 1920x1200 resolution, than IMO the SB is the way to go!

I got a Gateway MX8711 laptop, it was supposed to be just missing an HDD, but the unit is completely dead. I've never got to see any indicator light, any whiff of a fan.

Since the alternative was throwing it away, I took the whole thing apart. All I know is that the PSU tests successfully at 19V, no obvious indications of burns or bad solders near the POS, and there is continuity on the board. The highlighted transistor S1040 gets 19V too*. The battery charge terminals give 0.85V.

Where do I go from here?

* See i39.tinypic.com/29dz2ir.jpg , I can't post links yet.

A:Gateway laptop completely dead, mobo gets power

Sorry to report this to you, but the Gateway Ml, M7, and MX series of laptops from about 2007 through 2010 or later, have a very high (my term) failure rate... the motherboard goes.... Some technicians believe that the motherboard fails because the CPU cooling fan plugs up with lint, and the board or processor overheats... We have seen perhaps 36 or 37 of them... dead and not repairable... since 2007... except by the replacement of the system board... The average cost of the system board is $127 plus shipping...
Others believe the failure is because of the manufacturer who was in control at the time they were built... The problems appears to be the same whether it was built by Gateway or the other two companies who have been in line for the building process. Gateway was bought out by other companies in Korea about 2003 or 2004... a pretty reliable machine until then
I would contact Gateway or a technician who specializes in Gateway to see what their cost of repair is these days... but we are not sure we would want the repaired one either...
A look on eBay will affirm that there are lots of Gateway parts, but almost never any working Gateway motherboards...
You might want to take it to a certified tech who works on Gateway laptops for his or her evaluation...
But your time will be better spent shopping for a better unit.
The hard drive is still good, as is the memory and most other components, in our experience, but it is the motherboard that is the one part that is unrepairable.
We will be interested to see if there are other replies that have more hopeful news.

hi - i was just playing music on my dell latitude e4300 via bluetooth to a belkin bluetooth receiver connected to stereo.

somehow the connection got dropped - during a phone call on a land line. may be irrelevant.

now, i cannot get bluetooth connection back. there is no bluetooth icon in the system tray.

i cannot find 'bluetooth' devices in start>control panel> devices
--i have 2, and both ought to be there.

i unplugged bluetooth receiver, and had win 7 search for devices to add - no luck.

sure, i can reboot, and everything will probably come back.
but i am hoping for a better answer. i don't want to have to reboot every time the bluetooth connection gets lost.

i searched the web for a little, but only found unrelated posts, or posts with no answer. THANKS!

bluetooth light/icon on laptop, not screen is on; no bt

ok, i rebooted, thinking the bluetooth icon would again be in system tray, with the red in the middle, showing i have bluetooth capability, but that sound is not currently being directed to bluetooth.

no icon.

the dell laptop does have bluetooth icon illuminated on the laptop, just above the function keys - not on the screen at all / not in sys tray.

the bluetooth receiver is on, is working.

'add a device' is not finding this bt thingie.

So the Chaintech VNF3-250 on my secondary computer finally died after 7 or 8 years. But the other parts still work, so I'm hoping I can replace the mobo without having to replace everything attached to it.

All the places I've looked seem to have no name brands, or no name sellers, or are refurbished, or just plain out of stock forever.

I am trying to get my two sticks (2x 2Gb) of Corsair RAM (CM2X2048-6400C5C) to work in my Asus P5Q Deluxe mobo.
Both sticks work perfectly because I have tested them in all slots individually and the computer works flawlessly.
However, the problem that I'm having is when I put both sticks in, be that in A1/B1 or A2/B2.

With both sticks in, the computers powers on, the fans spin up but the computer progresses no further and does not POST - a blank screen.

What could be wrong? Is there a setting to adjust?

Tom.

A:Help OCing Q8400 on Asus P5NE-SLI mobo

I have a Q8200, which is basically the same CPU with a lower clock multiplier, running at a stable 3.01GHz. With your higher multiplier, you should be able to get a higher overclock. However, you might be limited by your RAM to 3.2GHz (400 X 8) unless you overclock it too. By the way, you would probably need to increase the CPU voltage to achieve that overclock. And it would be advisable to do this all in the BIOS.

And yes, any PCI-express graphics card should work on your mobo.

Good afternoon.

I have a system that is a few years old and am looking to replace the motherboard, CPU and ram. the tower has a sata HDD and a PATA optical drive but the motherbaord has fried and im looking to upgrade to a more up to date setup.

Im not after anything extreme as I dont game and im only really interested in having a decent speed for internet use and word processing other than that im not overly bothered about being super fast.

I was thinking of an AMD CPU Phenom II 555 Black Edition Dual Core Processor but would like suggestions on a motherboard that would support such a processor and not cause me a lot of problems with the HDD being compatible

My thanks for any suggestions on this topic

A:Sugestions required to replace mobo and CPU

Here are a few reccomendations:
ASRock A770DE+ (Full ATX uses DDR2) = $54
ASRock M3A770DE (Same board but uses DDR3) = $60
ASRock 880GM-LE (Micro-ATX, DDR3) = $55
ASRock A785GM-LE (Micro-ATX, DDR2) = $59

These are all good boards and have SATA and PATA support it is just a matter of what form factor you want/need and whether you want DDR2 or DDR3 memory. With DDR2 you may be able to reuse your current memory but if you want to upgrade your memory DDR3 is a better option since it is faster and cheaper. If you have not heard of ASRock they are ASUS's budget brand and tend to have allot of Legacy ports (PATA, FDD, PS2, etc.) making them good options if you plan to reuse older hardware.

As I understand it, if you change the motherboard, you need to reinstall the OS anyway. If you're absolutely desperate not to do that then RAM and CPU upgrades are really the only way you can go, and even that'll be annoying, and probably cost more than investing in new hardware.

SOLVEDPrinter asks for manual feed paper only when trying to print from the computer?

The computer at work copies, scans and accepts faxes just fine but when I go to print from microsoft word it asks for a manual paper feed, if manually fed it will print. What the heck? We want it to use the auto paper feed like it does every other time. I updated the drivers with no improvement.

Samsung scx-4623f

This computer was riddled with viruses before I started working here maybe thats the problem I dont think so though.

Its not just mic word it does the same thing via int explorer print job.

NOTFIXED
You have to select try one instead of auto select in the paper option.

OK this worked for a day the same problem is back any advice?

FIXED Maybe
Changed the printer paper size seems to be working.

I have an older ativa router don't know the model number right off but it has worked fine and I have 4 hardwired computers wired in and on occasion i use my netbook for a wireless connection. I haven't used it in a few weeks and now it won't work. nothing has been changed on any computer. I can sometimes get a connection but it show packages sent but none received and wont work. do you think the wireless part of the router went bad and how do I know how to check. Please help need the wireless service for my netbook and my new laptop which would not pick up the signal either and i have no password or restrictions on it . They normally just pick it up and work. Please help if you know what i need to do.

So my first build was ealier this year in March. Everything is up and running perfect all accept for one thing. Using Asus Rampage Formula III Mobo

While in any chat programs ie. spyke, vent, mumble, or teamspeak, the sound from my game or anything else (that should only be coming through my headset) is being broadcast through the voip programs.

I have used the same razer chimearon headset connected to my laptop but there is no issues.
