I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Just built a new system with the above mobo as a base Throughout the set up I encountered a couple times when I would plug the power supply back in turn the power on on the power supply which is a seasonic w and then the power LED would start flashing and continue When this happened the mobo would not power up I figured I had a loose connection so I Pulled everything out and started a slow systematic build and checking to see if a particular piece was causing the problem Including reseting the cmos After working my way through everything it booted up and ran great So I installed and updated everything played a little BF and everything seemed fine The next day I was online for a bit in the am shutdown for a couple hours and then tried to boot again This time however the LED started flashing again and it wasn t booting Again pulled it all apart and rebuilt it didn t restart this time though can t remember if I reset the cmos this time I can t seem to find anything in the manual or online that tells me what might be causing this Any ideas or help would be great I can give all the specs if anyone needs that Thanks nbsp

A:Mobo Unresponsive - DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI-DR

Hey there,

Thanks for that suggestion, unfortunately none of those led's are lighting at all (I believe they only lit when I was actually able to turn the power on the board on).

It is the stand-by power led that is flashing. As soon as the power supply is turned on this light starts flashing and nothing else will do anything else. The times the system worked correctly, this led was constantly lit and steady.

thanks

i need to know what exact video card and harddrive you already have. you could probably do yourself a big favor by choosing an amd athlon64 system, as said platform can be had for less expense and has numerous advantages over the p4 5xx series. choosing an upgrade depends largeley on your anticipated uses for the machine - what are they?

I'm looking for a motherboard around or less than $90. My choices are the Abit NF8 and the DFI LanParty UT nForce3... The DFI is older, but costs more and seems to be very favorable. The Abit NF8 is cheaper, but newer, and seems to outperform the DFI just a tiny bit according to the reviews. So I'm on an epic quest about this obsolete motherboard of mine - However, I've been utterly unable to locate a manual for it ANYWHERE. Standard Google searches just aren't throwing up the goods, so I've decided to throw myself on the mercy of the forum-goers.
Please help me locate this manual! And if you DO find it - please let me know HOW you found it, as I've been working with ancient tech of late, and about half the motherboard manuals I've looked for are nowhere to be found, or the links that say they're for the manual are generally dead. The Motherboard in question is an ECS/PCCHIPS (apparently they're the same company? confusing) M935LR.

Uninstall all printers you may have. Uninstall the printer software. Uninstall the parallel port in Device Manager. Reboot and enter BIOS setup. So I built a computer, and I got the DFi Lanparty with the SLi and all that. Werid thing is it comes with 2 Ethernet plugs. I can get internet from either one, but there must be a reason they put 2 plugs in there. So i thought it was for that whole "lanparty" thing. so i hooked another computer to the other plug, and it lights up, the other computer says it gets a connection, but it isn't strong enough to actually get on the internet. So, anyone have this board or know what it's there for?

Most new High end boards(like that one) are coming standard with Dual ethernet. I think you got it right with the reason for being LAN parties.

A:nf4 lanparty ultra-D

This forum is intended for issues related to systems running Windows 7. I see that you're on XP. (I also see that you like run-on sentences.)

That said, I don't know what to suggest. The Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D is a fairly old (2005) Socket 939 board. I think eBay may be where you'd have to go for a replacement motherboard, or a replacement BIOS chip. (Both the board and the chip are listed on eBay.)

If you'd like to try just updating the BIOS, the latest version is 406, from April of 2006:

DFI LANParty:The Best OC Platform! Overclock, Motherboard, Intel, AMD

I suggest using a floppy-based version, as it's safer than flashing from Windows.

Good luck.

I'm trying to overclock an AMD64 3200+ on the DFI LanParty UT nF4 SLI-D mobo. I can't figure out how to up the CPU voltage. Anyone know how? I have it clocked to 2.25GHz on 1.376v. It's Genie BIOS and the vcore is not accessible. Is there a multiplier of some sort?

A:overclock on DFI LanParty UT nF4 SLI-D

it's not a multiplier. the BIOS on the lanparty boards list the VCORE as "VID" (voltage ID)

the setting that says CPU VID control is the standard incremental voltage adjustment. the setting that says CPU VID special control is a percentage based voltage adjustment beyond the incremental adjustement.

I have not used that board, but a quick google search answered that question pretty easily.

good luck

How is the AM2 DFI LanParty aside from it's looks? (Found here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136014)

... Anyone have it or know it well? How is it? Stable? Good OCing?

Also, it seems to need an 8-pin CPU plug... What version of ATX is that? My PSU is only 2.01 ATX, and thus doesn't have the 8-pin plug for the CPU . Any way to make it work? The PSU is only a few months old and is VERY good for my needs (480W), and is 100% stable. I don't want to replace it!

A:*drool* DFI LanParty

Hmm.... well, if no one knows about the board, anyone atleast know the question about whether there is a way to use a 4-pin powersupply on an 8-pin motherboard (CPU plug).

just a quick question. Ive been looking at mobos and i can't decide between the DFI lanparty and the A8N-sli premium. I know they both have some great features but i mainly just want some oppinions from those of you who have or have used either of these. thank you, mobo going to be paired with a x2 4200+, 2 gig xms, 7900 GT, and a 74G raptor if that changes anything.

A:A8N premiun or DFI Lanparty?

You're not using SLi so don't get an SLi motherboard. Get an Asus A8N-E or a DFI LANPARTY motherboard without SLi. With an X2 and 7900GT, I recommend the Asus A8N-E. If you had an Opteron, I'd go for the DFI. Best of luck!

I built a system using a DFI Lanparty board using IDE raid 0, which the board was made for (not ATA), with W2k, SP4. I used 2 160g drives to do this, used good components, lots of memory, etc. It worked fine for quite awhile, until I added an MT 4 sound card for the purpose of in house music recording and editing (I'm also a part time musician). Almost immediately, it started to hang, so I decided to uninstall the card and software. Did that, then when I rebooted the system, at the last stage of the boot process, just when you think everythng is cool, I get a blue screen registry error message. I am no programmer, but I do know a lot of basic recovery methods, and none of them worked. My main question is this- is there bootable software available on CD that I can use to address this registry error issue, or is there another approach? Keep in mind that I can get to a command prompt screen that allows me to see that all the files are still there with a directory command, yet cannot boot in safe mode or any other F8 option, even when I use the W2k CD. I still get the blue screen error message which passes very quickly, something like ...security.ini..., and then the system reboots repeatedly, ad infinitum, like it is in a loop, to the same results every time, until I shut off the power. If you have any input, please let me know at '[email protected]'...
I did receive some helpful replies to this initial post. This is a computer that I cannot connect to the net, because it won't boot past the blue screen.Click to expand...

Well, I just got finished installing a new Lanparty Ultra D, and the CPU fan is going really slow. Speeds around 950rpm.. Im pretty sure its something with the BIOS becuase before it shows the lanparty logo its spinning what it looks like on my gigabyte board, pretty dang fast.

This is my friends first build, so im trying to help him out with the problem. He finally got it done a few minutes after I left to go home and it wouldnt turn on, and whaddya know, when i get back, it works.

Is This normal, or is there something wrong?

P.S. Temps are around 38C...

Edit: I copied this into word. Thought I was gonna be on my name, but i was on my friends lol...i am not deano who posted this...

Hey all,
Anyone have this mobo? When I enable the 2nd LAN port (nVidia) my system seems to get problems like freezing and whatnot. Ever since I disabled the second port, things are running smooth as ever.

Anyone figure out a way to enable the LAN port without the problems?

A:DFI LANPARTY NFII Ultra (rev a)

i dont own your motherboard but mine is similar in design and when i enabled the second lan port after windows has been installed i got serious stability problems - apartently this is an nforce2 chipset thing so its NOT a fault motherboard (we hope) i happens to all us lot with NF2 motherboards.
the only solution (i know of) is to format ur HDD, enable the lan port and reinstall windows - apartently that solves it
hope that helps

Hello everyone I was looking at mobos and i came across the DFI LANPARTY UT nF Ultra-D and the MSI K N Neo Platinum mobos The lanparty mobo seemed more attractive where as it seems to be more of a quot gamers quot board I have never built with these two brands MSI and DFI so i was woundering which mobo would be the best for gamers The lanparty mobo has PCI-express slots not SLI and it cost about bucks more I dont really need the extra pci-e slot expecially if its Platinum? or Lanparty Neo4 not sli I also have herd many talking about the lanparty board being difficult to install and Lanparty or Neo4 Platinum? it being very picky about the memory As for the MSI board most of everyone has said it to be a breeze to install I would rather get the MSI board which is less expensive and it being very easly to build with rather than getting the lanparty board having it to be more expensive and difficult to install but yet is basicly the same Lanparty or Neo4 Platinum? as the MSI board Perhaps some help from people who have these boards would be helpfull Any help will be welcomed Thanks MSI board http www newegg com Product Product asp Item N E DFI board http www newegg com Product Product asp Item N E nbsp

(let me know if the link is dead)

I'd love to build this, but I already have more computers than I know what to do with, but this may be a nice template for someone else wanting a good lanparty type system.

Here're the specs.
Xqpack2 micro atx shoebox case
Corsair 520w PSU
Asus P5K-VM G33 MATX (can be oc'ed)
Intel C2D E6320 4M cache
Zalman 7700CU CPU Cooler
EVGA 8800GTS 320MB
G.Skill 4GB DDR2 800 2 x 2GB
WD 750GB SATA 3.0Gbps 16M cache HD
LG 18X SATA DVD-RW
Windows Xp/Vista 64bit(not on list)

It'd be around $1450 with windows and shipping.

Yeah, I'm just bored, so I went "window shopping."

Nice build. But it's better to get 4x1GB than 2x2GB... the 1GB sticks are more reliable, overclock better, and you don't lose as much memory if one fails.

I have just built my very first computer and installed windows 7 on it. I have run into a slight problem, the driver setup they sent me isn't compatible with Windows 7. When i put in the CD a setup message tells me, "The main board is not supported with this operating system. The application will be terminated." I have tried running this program in the Windows 7 compatibility mode but none of the Vista or XP options seem to work. To top it all off the DFI website is absolutely horrible. The CD has the chipset, audio, network, RAID, software and utility drivers on it. Where can i find these drivers compatible with Windows 7 64 bit?

I recently installed the dfi lanparty ut nf3 250 gb (all other components are new). I attempted to test the reset button by reseting the system (from the desktop). After pressing the reset button on my case for a second or two then releasing it, the system appears to reset - for example, the monitor resets, the hard drive resets (makes that noise you hear during a cold start) but following the hard drive reset, nothing happens. There is no system beep you commonly hear during a cold start. The monitor is black and the hard drive continues to make that reset sound. Its almost as if the motherboard doesn't reset.

I checked the reset plug that attaches from the case to the mobo and it appears to be attached firmly. Everything else works fine but this.

Can you help?

How many HDD do you have? If you have more than one, make sure that the one you are installing windows on is the MASTER disc and the other one(s) are SLAVE discs. You'll have to add/remove jumpers to make one the MASTER disc.

Thats about all I can help you with. I hope it helps.

Hi guys, I want to connect my ps3 hard drive on pc to use it on pc, so when I get my new computer I can use it with it straight away, but right now I want to use it on my current pc, I plugged in both the one cable and the other one (sata), that goes from power supply cable to the HDD.

when I booted the pc it said installing device drive software, and said, device is ready to use, I go to my computer, and it ain't there, do I have to set it as secondary in bios?

Win7 Ultimate final rev

It's automatically set as fourth IDE master. restarted pc and still doesn't show up, I heard I need to format, is that true? like that to know if I should re-gain windows 7 disk

Oh and t's actually 320gb

Open up Disk Management (in the admin tools control panel), it should show up in there. I'd delete all the partitions and create 1 new one that incorporates the whole disk. Then format as NTFS.

quite a simple problem you would think....i need both of the 250gig drives to be unpartitioned ( os on one drive). so its down to the 137gb problem. all of the solutions i have read so far is based on the sp1 and sp 2 route .I.e format the drive at 137gig then install windows xp pro and, then update with the pro pack and the drive should be showing at 250gb , im not having too much luck with this approach has anyone any other ideas ?

A:Deskstar 250Gb Hdd

First I will assume your drive is showing up as the full size in the bios and is corrrectly identified.

If you are using either xp or win2k. Go to disk management; start>run type in diskmgmt.msc and hit enter. See if your drive shows up there; it should be listed as disk1, disk0 will be the master drive. If it shows up there, you need to partition and format the drive. Right click on the drive and choose to create a partition; I like extended partitions for data / storage drives. After you create the partition, right click again and choose to create logical drive. You can make the entire drive one partition or organize it into say 3 logical drives; whatever you want. After you create the logical drive you will need to format them. Again right click on the logical drive and choose format. Use ntfs for your drive. In fact if you use partitions greater than 32 gig, fat32 is not even an option.

Just think about how you want it organized before you start.

Maxtor 250

Just put a Maxtor 250 GB into my mate's machine, Maxblast3 will only let me have 137GB, Windows XP will only see it as 31.4GB. I've managed to partition & format it in my own machine correctly but when I put it back in his, it F***s up again

I've updated the Via 4in1, the bios is already updated to the latest version

I'm guessing a new MB is in order ??????

A:250GB Hdd Not Recognized

Hi,

What do you mean the laptop won't recognize the 250GB drive? Do you mean in the BIOS? When trying to install Windows? You can try to download a linux LiveCD like Knoppix or Damn Samll Linux and boot from that (F9 or F12 at the Dell BIOS) and see if it sees it. If so, format with QTParted or Fdisk and then try Windows again. Maybe the drive is bad.

Let me know if this helps.

I've been looking at some of the features in Samsung Magician, and ran the Benchmark test twice. Both times I got very high scores, above the max listed in the program for all 4 tests. I have the drive set to MAXIMUM RELIABILITY. Just wondering about the scores reliability.

Scores in Parentheses are Samsung 's listed maximum high:

Sequential Read
549 mb (540)
Seq write
532mb (520)
Random read
97442 (97000)

Benchmarks are artificial at best [and a benchmark from the mfg is tailored to that particular piece of hardware] I would think you would get different results using a another benchmark program such as ATTO.

In short do not put too much emphasis on any given benchmark. Modern ssd drives are reliable and it should last for quite a while so I would not worry about the drive.

Go with an SSD. If you choose the 60GB SSD, you will have just enough space for the OS and a Office Suite and a few other apps before you start to run out of space. If you can afford it, go with a minimum of 128GB SSD as your primary drive, then wipe your 500GB mechanical drive and use as a storage drive.

A:XP won't format whole 250GB HD

Hi, if the version of Windows on the install CD pre-dates Service Pack 2, you will get this problem.

Microsoft added the ability for Windows to see hard drives bigger than 137 GB in Service Pack 1 (and Service Pack 2).

If you have access to another PC, download Service Pack 2 (which includes Service Pack 1 btw), and integrate it into your install source and burn a new CD from which you can install. You can find good instructions for doing that here:

http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

You can download Service Pack 2 (full 266 MB package) from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

As a workaround, you can create a partition less than 137 GB, install Windows, and then install Service Pack 2 and you will be able to access the rest of the hard drive. Then you can partition the rest from the Computer Management interface (right-click "My Computer" > Manage...)

I have two 250GB hard drive in my pc and I'm trying to install Windows XP Pro SP2. It's running on an Abit motherboard with Athlon 64 dual core 4400+ CPU. I got the computer from a friend and decided to do a clean install so I deleted the previous partions and made a new one. It went through the whole formatting process fine then went through the windows setup. It then did an automatic reboot but right after POST it gave me an error message. It said Trap followed by 0000005c ==============EXCEPTION=========================== and a series of hexdecimal messages afterworsd. I've done this twice and had the same problem and I just wanted to know if you guys knew anything about this?

A:Installing Win XP Pro SP2 on two 250GB HDD

Greetings gfx dude, Welcome to TSF!

Firstly, you only need to install the Operating System one ONE of the HDD's not both of them.
The second HDD can be connected as a "Slave" and can be used to 'save' everything that you download, plus emails and other data, such as music etc.
I suggest that you check the CD for scratches and marks; wipe it very gently from the centre to the edges with a lint free cloth.
To give you the best chance of getting Windows? installed without hassles, such as those you are experiencing, is to completely wipe the HDD with Darik's Boot N Nuke.
Wiping the HDD this way will completely erase everything off the HDD and take it back to a RAW unformatted state, as if it had just come out of the factory.

Just so that you do not forget anything when doing the installation, please read this...

The Windows? XP Installation Check List.

1. The Windows? XP SP2-CD (naturally)

2. Darik's Boot N Nuke (Click the coloured Link).

3. Please read this guide.

4. The Motherboard CD that contains all the necessary Drivers etc.

A couple of tips...
a. Darik's Boot N Nuke will take about 4? hours to completely wipe the Drive; however, this will vary depending on how big the Drive is. (That estimate is for a 80Gb HDD).

b. When you get to Figure 7 in 'The Guide', you can create more than one partition here by simply telling Windows? how big you want it. Should you do decide to create an extra partition, it will not be active until you do so after the installation is over and done with...we can give you guidance as to how this is done, so partition away if you wish.

c. Once the installation is finished, with all the Motherboard Drivers installed, and Internet connected, I strongly recommend that you install a reputable Anti Virus program first; then, go to the Windows Update Site and download all the updates (including SP3).
AVG? is has a very good free version available here.

d. DO NOT have any unnecessary items; such as, USB cameras, Printers etc., attached to the machine...install all these after the installation is finished, and fully updated from Microsoft?.

If you are uncertain about anything here, do not hesitate to ask for assistance.

Good Luck with this task, and when you have finished, please post back with the results.

Kind Regards,

You can purchase an adaptor from a puter store that would allow you to hook it up to an exixting power lead with out connecting it to the motherboard.

I am assuming I can just hook one of the D+ and D- correlate to the P- and P+ and that I can hook either up to the 6 series even though its labled 5? In words, they are identical, correct?

I need to know where this flat wire goes and does the keyboard wire just connect into the connector on the laptop side.

"Jumpers" are small (usually) black rectangular plastic things that go over two metal pins. There's a strip of metal inside, that creates an electrical short across these pins.

Like the black blotches on the left here: http://seniordesign.engr.uidaho.edu/2004_2005/mekelektroniks/Project Pictures/PCB Test Jumpers.jpg

Just purchased a new Samsung SP2514 250 gig hdd and XP can only see 32239mb.

Tried using samsung's drive overlay to install xp, but gave up + uninstalled it -(the drive overlay).

I booted from the Xp cd + installed but XP only sees 32....gig's.

I have enabled big LBA by using EnableBigLba from www.48bitlba.com to no avail.

From searching through the forums, I see that a BIOS update may be necessary.

Do I also need to update my motherboard + chipset?

If so, are reliable updates available free on the net?

Any step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello hiltonr92 and welcome to the forums. See if this will help Windows 10 - Clean Install

Are you installed in UEFI Mode? If so, when you boot from the USB drive use the entry that says UEFI and the name of your USB. If not in UEFI, boot from the name of your USB without UEFI in front of it. Delete all partitions on the drive until it says unallocated and then click the 'NEW" button. The installer will create all the necessary partitions. I hope that helps.

I have a 250GB Maxtor Hard Drive that I decided to convert to an external drive when I got my new Dell (bad idea). It worked great for about a month, then one day I get an 'ambulance-like' beeping alarm from the external. But, I dont have any experience with hard drive alarms so i thought I'd ask. Does this alarm mean this drive is dead for good?
