Preferred Solution: Can't log into Windows after installing Japanese Language Pack

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Every time I try to install the Eastern Language pack for Windowa XP (w/SP3), I keep tgetting this error message that says I need to find the original CDs - which, of course, I can't find, now that I need them. The file that's missing is msmincho.ttc. Anyone know of another way for me to get it? Thanks!

After downloading the Japanese IME and Language pack.. My IE won't allow me to open any Japanese websites anymore. I know I probably did something wrong. Please help!

A:[resolved] Japanese IME and Language pack.. IE unable to open

From what I understand, IE isn't terribly good at processing language packs, I have not had this problem, but you might want to switch to a faster and more adaptive browser, Firefox

Or, if you don't like to tinker, the equally fast Opera

After adding the Japanese Writing utility, I now have two taskbars. The second taskbar only shows programs that are running, not the start button, quicklaunch, clock, etc.

It first appeared toward the bottom of the desktop, and I could move it, like a floating toolbar. I moved it to the right side, and now it’s stuck there. If I attempt to move it or right click on it, the computer locks up. I have to CRTL ALT DEL and then restart.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I have a screenshot, but the board won't let me post it.

After installing suppport for Japanese the system turned completely Japanese, I changed back to English, but for some reason Store refuses to switch, it is stuck in Japanese mode. I can live with it except the apps available are those geared for the Japanese market and I have no way of knowing what I'm missing out on.

A:language options - japanese IME does not show, cannot add Japanese keyboard

You would need to change the Unicode to Japanese in the third tab in Regional and Language. Japanese doesn't figure in my list under the first tab either but if you change the Unicode and restart, you may find it on your XP CD and be able to add it in.

We need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool

and now when im trying to install LP i dont get error 2, but instead "some updates were not installed 1:not needed"????

I'm on my work laptop and wanting to switch languages to English. I'm using Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit.

I know I can supposedly install a language pack via the Update Center. However, because of system restrictions, I don't have access to that. What I DO have access to is a place on my hard drive where I can install a downloaded language pack (again supposedly).

Is there an official Windows 7 language pack I can download? The ones I've found so far seem sketchy (from non-Microsoft websites) or for the beta version of Windows 7.

A:Installing Language Pack Issues

So after further research, I am 90% sure I already have the English language pack installed. However, system restrictions prevent me from switching to English. Under the usual "Keyboard and Languages" tab of "Regional and Language Options", the language section is simply not there at all.

Now I need to find a way to work around that. My office's IT support will not change it for me as local language laws prevent them from doing so.

Any tips?

Hello I'm new to the forums and I need help Unable nor change Repair to language installing. (pack) I've been trying to fix my Windows for days straight now and I'm not really progressing This is to help you understand what situation I'm in I've asked my Unable to change language (pack) nor Repair installing. dad to help me with something and he did a little extra which messed up my register and after working on that for about a day we decided to Repair install my windows and see if it helped he got me this Win SP ISO and upgraded and everything went just fine but the language was in English Unable to change language (pack) nor Repair installing. and I was unable to change it I've been on this forum and a few others looking for a solution and didn't quite find out what to do what I've done so far is - Checking optional updates yet there were none considering LP's and I couldn't find the 'show hidding updates' check either - Copying language files from another computer which got the language into the list of selectable languages but I ended up having a English - Dutch on my computer So after a lot of trying my dad got me this ISO which was included all versions including my bit Ultimate SP version which I've been using but it was all in Dutch so we got that problem out of the way But when I go to the setup it asks me where to install and when I choose the C drive it only says it would overwrite it and I never get to those the 'Upgrade' option to Repair install So basically what I'm asking for here is this - How do I fully install this language pack into my windows Microsoft site hasn't been any help couldn't find anything in optional updates and even with separate LP files I couldn't install the language that means both trying to copy files from another computer and copying into the register and dloading from this site Download Windows MUI Language Packs Official -bit and -bit Direct Download Links My Digital Life or - How do I repair install this Dutch Windows x Ultimate after I have repair installed another Windows x Ultimate on my computer Oh and if you want to know why I don't just reinstall Windows it's because I have GB of Files and Programs on it atm that I don't want to lose I'm sorry for the unneeded information but I thought it might help some of you understand what kind of problem I'm dealing with here Because I changed the subject this should probably be moved to another section found to be more appropriate or should I just mark as fixed and make another thread considering my problem Alright getting pretty close here We've copied almost every Dutch LP file into my own Windows and almost everything is in Dutch now but some things can't be changed it seems When we create a new user account there seems to be more in Dutch than on my own account for some reason both accounts have Dutch selected as language however So can anyone tell me where to change account options in the Registry I might be able to copy the settings from the account that has more in Dutch For example when I click the start menu orb there's this tab called Devices and Printers When I got on the other user account which I just made it's called Apparaten en Printers I suspect this to be changeable in the Registry

Got a little other problem though, and don't want to start a new topic so I don't clutter your forums.
A few days ago I installed a MS Office 2010 language pack, and suddenly a lot of my programs icons just resetted Even though they don't have anything to do with Office 2010. Is that possible?

Some programs that did change can be seen in the attachments.

All the Office programs changed their icon too.

Still not okay though, I really wonder how to fix this, next to a System Restore....

I have Windows Ultimate x It's a fresh re install After retrieving all available updates including all optional drivers and rebooting I tried to install the language pack on system fails a Installing multi-boot Japanese Language pack via Windows Update and after maybe around twenty minutes of the software trying to install Windows Update reports an install failure The error message is Code Code Windows Update encountered an unknown error I Googled the error code and Microsoft says that the error is caused by a possibly corrupt NET install After using their NET cleaner and reinstalling all the applications the error persists I looked further on Google and read a post by someone with the exact same problem as me It looked like he was able to fix his problem pretty easily and he explains how he resolved it in his following post but his explanation is a little over my head From what I can tell he used bcdboot to tell Windows where the reserved system partition is or something like that But without explicit instructions I'm kind of in the dark I'm not good with Windows I prefer Linux Basically I need what he did explained in Captain Dummy talk I think his solution is the solution to my problem as well

A:Installing language pack on a multi-boot system fails

Hey neat! I fixed it myself by guessing at the guy's instructions!

What he did was issue the following command:

Code:
bcdboot C:\windows /s C:
And marked my system partition as active by using the administrative tools. I thought this would remove my boot loader, but it didn't, I still have GRUB. I think I basically just gave myself write permissions to the system drive, which Windows needed to install the language pack.

I installed Windows 8 Pro and installed an additional language(let's say it's B) pack, changed system display language to B, and system locale to B.

And I got infinite BSOD after installing some drivers(not related to language pack, just I made mistake installing old programs), so I 'refresh'ed the system.

Guess what, after the refresh, system display was set to English(united kingdom, which is default), AND system locale remained as language B.

This is the problematic part;
1.I CANNOT change system display language to B, it says it's unavailable.
2.The system regards the language pack is already installed because I can still use B as system locale.
3.I cannot reinstall or remove the language pack. LPKSETUP doesn't detect B.

SO i'm pretty much stuck, and I don't want to reinstall just to change the system display language.

Is there any solution to this(removing/reinstalling language pack)?

Is it also possible to maintain the Japanese version and operate with the English version? If yes, how can it be done? The PC has 2 HDDs: C and D.

A:Windows Language Pack

Hi there
Download the SWEDISH LIP from here

Download languages for Windows - Microsoft Windows

Even includes obscure languages like WELSH etc.

I used the Icelandic one -- works a treat on my systems. In some cases you need to install over a base ENGLISH version of W7 but I think for Swedish installing over ANY installed language version of W7 base should be OK -- the list contains the requirements.

Once you've installed go to control panel regional settings and you can get around 99% of the Interface switched to the alternate language(s). You can install as many as you like and note the Logon screen if you set the administrator options in control panel will also be presented in your chosen language.

You need to have W7 PRO or higher unfortunately -- it won't work with HOME PREMIUM -- which IMO is daft since corporates often use ENGLISH but home users are much more likely to want W7 in their native language.

You should find no trouble installing on W7 Enterprise whether X-86 or the 64 bit version.

You can switch back to the original English any time after install too.

Cheers
jimbo.

A:Japanese language ability on XP

Hiya

Go to Control Panel | Regional and Language Options. Languages tab. Details. Click Add. Choose tha language you want.

You may need your Windows disk.

After its all done, you should be able to change the layout, just change it using the EN icon that should be near your clock.

Also, note this:

For right-to-left and East Asian languages select Start, Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, the Languages tab, and then select the desired check box under Supplemental language support.

I went to control panel > regional and language settings. The drop down menu has just about every language BESIDES Japanese.
I downloaded a Japanese language support file from Microsoft.com, but Japanese still does not appear in the list of languages.

open control panel, region&languages, install/unnistall langauges, pop up window should appear, choose windows update, it should take you to some MS link to choose what language you want to install.
In my case, during instalation, I choosed input language macedonian, after instalation, I'm switching between my language and english with left alt+shift

Hi,

Recently I installed Windows 7 Enterprise and realized that no language pack are available for download via the Windows Update.

Is it possible that Windows 7 Enterprise does not offer this option or just my DVD Setup?

Many thanks in advance.

A:Windows 7 Enterprise Language Pack..

Windows 7 language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise. The Windows 7 language packs can be installed only from the Optional Updates section in Windows Update. However, these language packs are not available on the Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server or through the Microsoft Download Center.

To download and install a Windows 7 language pack, follow these steps:
Start Microsoft Update. To do this, click Start, type Microsoft Update in the Start Search box, and then click Microsoft Update in the Programs list.
Click the optional update links for the language packs.
Under the Windows 7 Language Packs category, select the desired language pack.

Note If you install many additional language packs, the disk space and system performance are affected. In particular, disk space and system performance are affected during servicing operations, such as Service Pack installations. Therefore, we recommend that you only add a language pack to your computer if you will use the language pack.
Click OK, and then click Install updates to start the download and installation process.

Yes, you will need to upgrade/download Windows 7 ultimate to get language packs. Home Premium only comes with 1 language pack. You can get Home Pre. in English or Chinese when you purchase it, but you can't change it later.

I've installed Windows 7 Professional and I'd like to install a language pack on it (it's in English now). I've searched the internet and it seems language packs are only available for Ultimate and Home Premium.

Unless, you have a MSDN account. I've got MSDN access but I'm not sure if it's true. Is it? And does it contains the language I want (Dutch) or can I check this?

I have a problem with a laptop, from Thailand, that has a Windows Thai Language Pack on. The problem is that it is my friends laptop, who is Thai, but he wants it all to be in english.

The Thai Language Pack seems to change alot of the windows program names and folders into Thai, but he wants them to be English.

So, can i just remove it and it will go back to a normal windows, all in english?
Or, will it not work without the pack?

If it was my laptop i would just remove it and see what happens, but my friend has about 20 Gb of games on it, and about 60Gb music. So i really don't want to mess up his computer.

Also, if i download a English Language pack, would it overide the Thai one?

Hi.

I have a PC with Windows 8.1 single language pack(OEM DVD) and I need to get a new language pack.

But since the OS being single language pack, I am not able to download another language pack,

and so I thought I would get a 8.1 Pro or a normal NOT single language pack and do an upgrade.
(a wee bit sideways though )

So here is the Q.

If I get myself a 8.1 pro(non-single language), will I be able to upgrade my OS to a normal 8.1 pro?

Need to be typing in both Korean and English but I'm stuck with only English...

A:Windows 8.1 single language pack upgrade

You should be able to upgrade if you have bought the 8.1 Pro key. I've not tried it as I never had single language but MS says you can.

Hello, I have Asus X202E Vivobook bought with Windows 8 Japanese OS version. I had the OS switched to English.  Yesterday
I installed Windows 8.1, I can see that the english language pack is still there in the system but it shows unavailable.  I'm unable to switch the OS back to English or read anything as I do not know japanese.

I tried to install another english language display of English (UK) but it's just not working. So for example, if I open
my control panel, everything is in Japanese, whereas before the 8.1 update, I was able to view everything in English.

Could anyone suggest what I should do to switch to english?

Hi, I am looking to buy a laptop here in Germany where I live, but as an 'auslander' (i.e foreigner), my native language is English, so I'm wondering if its possible to change the user language to English on the low-end laptops equipped with 'Windows 8.1 with Bing.'

From what I have read online, there are supposedly no handicaps or limitations for the end user for the Bing-version Windows, however, I have noted from this article that the "About Windows" screen cap states something to the effect of it being a 'single language.'

Does this mean that I cannot switch to everything being in English with this version of Win 8.1, or is it still possible to add a language pack?

Thank you!

A:Adding Language Pack to 'Windows 8.1 with Bing'

Hi Gb33, welcome to the Eight Forums.

Myself an ex-pat living in Germany I know how important but sometimes difficult it is to find a computer here with pre-installed OS in any other language than German. Luckily Windows 8 made this a bit easier due language packs being available in all editions except single language edition.

Windows 8.1 with Bing is available in four different versions. One of them, Windows 8.1 with Bing China we can forget . Remains Windows 8.1 with Bing Single Language, Win 8.1 with Bing N and normal Windows 8.1 with Bing. You can use language packs (change display language from German to any language) in both N and normal versions, the Single Language can only be used in its original language.

Short: ask the store, check what version of Windows 8.1 with Bing the laptop has. Version N comes without Windows Media Player and other media features but these can be easily added by yourself with no cost (Download Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions of Windows 8.1 from Official Microsoft Download Center). You can use language packs in version N to change your display language. Windows 8.1 with Bing normal version has all media features and can also use language packs.

Be careful, check that you will not get a German Single Language version.

Hello,
I just bought a new laptop (ASUS K53E). I'm currently in Japan and bought laptop here. I'm stuck at the set up page where I have to choose the region and languages. I would prefer English as main language, but I'm afraid I will have problems later with Japanese keyboard, I use both English and Japanese in daily life. There are two things, language and keyboard, that I can choose the language for. And the physical keyboard is Japanese (qwerty with additional buttons).
Also can I add more languages later on? If I plan to add one more language which keyboard is best for initial set up?

Would be grateful for any tips, its a first time I bought laptop outside of Europe.

A:choosing a language for a new laptop English and Japanese

Be sure to make your Recovery Disks and preserve the Recovery partition if you reinstall so that you can revert to the state you received the computer and hopefully make these Setup choices again if needed in the future.

Otherwise languages are only interchangeable when you have Ultimate which provides all of the language packs via optional Windows Updates.

However reinstall with another language is sometimes possible depending upon the region of your license even though the license is language-specific. The choices you have now should also be available by finding an installer for that language to clean reinstall, then activate with the Product Key on COA sticker. However you may have to try it to find out for sure, so be sure to preserve your factory Recovery options and and Win7 backup image of your install after setup.

A:Language Issues, japanese showing instead of English

Hey,

Even I am facing the same problem. I bought the parts in japan and assembled it but the OS is in English. While installing drivers the installer was in Japanese. Also my keyboard layout is japanese.

Now the programs which I had in English before are getting installed in Japanese when I am doing the installation. I manually changed the language of some programs but I can't find the option in other as they are all in Japanese. I thought it was taking the location from internet and installed without the internet but they still got installed in Japanese.

How do I stop this? Some help would be really appreciated.

I recently sent my computer in for a replacement hard drive. They installed Chinese input in my language bar (I assume because it's a Taiwanese company). I have tried removing it from Regional and Language Settings, but even when it's not listed in the keyboards section, it keeps showing up in the language bar. Sometimes when I restart it disappears, and sometimes it reappears in the keyboards and the language bar. It's really obnoxious.

Additionally, I often use Japanese input in the language bar (so I don't want to just remove the language bar entirely), but when it's in Half-Width Alphanumeric (English character) mode, it still uses a Japanese keyboard layout (as in ' becomes :, ) becomes (, etc.) . Is there any way to fix this? I never had this problem in XP.

Thank you in advance.

I have been installing Portuguese PhotoStory 3 on my windows 7 machine.

It install OK. I reboot. When I invoke Photostory 3 I am expecting to find it in Portuguese, ... but its still in English.
I used the official PhotoStory3Portuguese(Brazil).msi

Here's the question:
Even if I install the Portuguese version, does it still look at the OS language when invoked and say "well, your OS is in English so I am going to display in English" ?

(ps: I have the same issue on my XP machine...)

Hi all,

I'm new here but I'm having a very specific problem after moving from Vista to Win7 Ultimate today.

Here is the issue:

The version I own started setup in Russian (not sure why)?? I managed to get through the installation and all went well. Once I got to the desktop I accessed the control panel and changed ALL the language settings, locale, keyboard settings, time zone etc to English/UK.

At first glance this has worked well and all menus and text display in English...accept for a couple of menus like the one that pops up when you right click the desktop. Here is a picture so you can see what I mean.

Anyone know what the hell is going on? I can't figure it out even after hours of searching the web and trying different things out.

My main computer needed a motherboard RMA so I slapped together another with some old parts. The current OS on it is XP so I am attempting to replace it with my copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. When attempting to install after it goes through the black screen with the grey bar loading windows files I do not get any options, such as language select. The screen is just the Windows 7 background and nothing else, I also own a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate and it is doing the same thing. Anyone run into this problem before?

I just bought a new desktop. I currently have windows 8, but it is in german and i want it in english. If i open the control panel, it says that i'm using the english language pack. The store doesn't show the option to upgrade to windows 8.1 (i have already installed all of my updates and the computer fits the minimum requirements for the update.)

Any idea how to get this thing into english?
i'm ok with a downgrade to windows 7, too, although i doubt that would be easier.

Hello, im new to this, and my question is whether i can do a clean install of windows 7 using Home Premium Family Pack.
I have been having problems with Windows and i would like to do a clean install but i am worried that it would use a product key from my family pack, because i have used two out of the three chances and i have used one chance on this computer and i wonder if it would use a third chance if i do a clean install?

Thanks

A:Re-Installing Windows 7 using Family Pack

Maybe I do not understand, but if you have a key and for whatever reason you want to reinstall, you can use the same key number. The rule with all keys except OEM is you can install as many times as you like, but one computer at a time.
So, if you want to reinstall the same OS (even an upgrade) use the key that you have as long as the OS is not on another computer at the same time.

Yes, you can do a clean install, and even with an upgrade DVD.

My computer is a Compaq, S6200CL, currently has Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1 (yes, I am a bit late on installing the 2nd Service Pack).

Every time I try to install it, the computer all of a sudden reverts to Windows Classic, then crashes.
This occurs at a point where the it is trying to install the file FXSAPI.DLL (about halfway through the installation)
Attempts I have made on trying to fix this problem:
-Downloading the newest version of fxsapi.dll
-Unplugging the modem, making sure no antivirus programs are running, then starting the installation.
-Running Norton Antivirus (I don't have the subscription, so it may not be up to date, and it also might not have gotten rid of any viruses, etc.), then starting the installation.
-Using both Automatic Updates and downloading the service pack onto the hard drive.

I have a problem trying to install a Japanese game, and it just won't install on my Windows 7. Specifically. It installed on my friend's Windows 7 AND on my Windows XP. I don't know WHY it won't install. It's not corrupted, it just has an error when it installs in my system. Even more, it installed without changing the system locale or using AppLocale on my XP. I have tried using AppLocale. I have tried CHANGING the system locale. I even tried running in Compatibility Mode.

The error. If you can translate to read the Japanese version of the error, please tell me.
Also, if any mods are reading this, please close the original thread or this thread if this doesn't fit here or vice versa.

My PC is using Microsoft Windows XP Professional and Microsoft office XP. After installing IME Japanese, whenever microsoft office software (osa.exe, word, excel...) is runing, there is always a note :
" Microsoft Office XP professional with Frontpage

This feature you are trying to use is on a CD_ROM or another removable disk that is not available.

Insert the "Microsoft Office XP professional with Frontpage" disk then click OK"

But if i click Cancel button, the software is still running.
If i remove IME Japanese, microsoft offices are able to run normally again. Can you tell me how to fix it?
