I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Norton firewall is telling me that "a remote system is attempting to access Microsoft generic host process for Win32 services on your computer". I know another poster is having the same problem. Norton has told me to permit so I have. It just keeps coming up many times in the last several days I decided to post a question here.

Thanks for your help.

I just got a virus detection from Microsoft Security Essentials for Trojan.Win32/Bamital and it said it cleaned it and I was protected, but in my task manager, I have a program running named svhost.exe. Mind you, it's not svChost.exe. How can I remove this? Now whenever I reboot my computer, MSE detects Worm:Win32/Ainslot.A and it says it quarantines it, so I selected remove the next time I rebooted but that warning pops up every time I reboot.

Probably being paranoid but I just got a new laptop and the first thing I noticed was it was using a bit more memory than I'm used to (~10% on startup of 14gigs). Anyways, I check out the task manager and I see one of the svchost.exe using 100kk+. Last time I had a problem with my desktop which had this similar symptom. So my question: is this a problem, me being paranoid, or just something else going on?

Thanks for reading as always.

A:svhost.exe

Svchost.exe is a generic host process name for a group of services that are run from dynamic-link libraries (.dll's) and can run other services underneath itself. This is a valid system process that belongs to the Windows Operating System which handles processes executed from .dll's. It runs from the registry key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Svchost where details of the services running under each instance of svchost.exe can be found. At startup, Svchost.exe checks the services portion of the registry to construct a list of services that it needs to load. It is not unusual to find multiple instances of Svchost.exe running at the same time in Windows Task Manager in order to optimize the running of the various services.svchost.exe SYSTEMsvchost.exe LOCAL SERVICEsvchost.exe NETWORK SERVICEEach Svchost.exe session can contain a grouping of services, therefore, separate services can run, depending on how and where Svchost.exe is started. This grouping of services permits better control and easier debugging. The process identifier (PID)'s must be checked in real time to determine what services each instance of svchost.exe is controlling at that particular time. The PID is not static and can change with each logon but generally they stay nearly the same because they are always running services.Determining whether a file is malware or a legitimate process usually depends on the location (path) it is running from. One of the ways that malware tries to hide is to give itself the same name as a legitimate or critical system file like svchost.exe. However, it then places itself in a different location (folder) than where the legitimate file resides and runs from there. The legitimate Svchost.exe file is located in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\ folder. In Windows 7 64-bit the file may be located in the SysWOW64 folder.Another technique is for the process to alter the registry and add itself as a service or startup program as shown here and here so that it can run automatically each time the computer is booted. If svchost.exe is running as a startup (shows in msconfig), it can be bad as shown here and here. Always make sure the spelling is correct. If it's scvhost.exe, then your dealing with a Trojan. Task Manager does not provide enough information. These are tools to investigate running processes, services and gather additional information to identify them or resolve problems:Process ExplorerSystem ExplorerProcessHacker - (requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or above to use)AutorunsProcess MonitorAnVir TaskManager FreeWindows Service CommandersvchostViewerThese tools will provide information about each process, CPU usage, file description and its path location Most of them are stand-alone apps in a zip file so no installation is necessary.-- System Explorer provides a security check of running processing using their online security database when you first launch the program. If you want process the initial scan, press the "Start Security Check" button. Keep in mind, that the check is not a guarantee of what is or is not detected as malware. Further investigation is always recommended. At the Security Check page you can also check the file through the VirusTotal database by pressing the Check MD5 button.-- Process Explorer shows two panes by default: the upper pane is always a process list and the bottom pane either shows the list of DLLs loaded into the process selected in the upper pane, or the list of operating system resource handles (files, Registry keys, synchronization objects) the process has open. In the menu at the top select View > Lower Pane View to change between DLLs and Handles.

Probably yes, this could be connected with some viruses...Can you make a picture of detection and post it here, so we can see what is it about?

Hi all, new user here.

Every once in a while, ZoneAlarm announces that a program called svhost.exe is trying to access the Net. When I decline it, then it immediately pops up again and again, so I have to set ZoneAlarm to permanently remember to refuse it. I have from time to time removed it from my list of remembered settings in ZoneAlarm, to see what happens. It never tries to access again immediately, but always eventually does, perhaps several days later. It also never tries to access the Internet right after I boot up my computer, it always comes up later when I'm in the midst of something. I often have many applications running at the same time, so I can't say for sure, but it seems that it might always be happening while I'm using WinMX. Any info as to what this is would be appreciated.

SVHOST EXE Hello everybody My name is Andy and I wouldn t be here if I had no problem About ten days ago I noticed my internet was getting slower and slower I checked my connection and I found out that I was uploading sending packages a lot even when I was not active on the internet My AVG scanner found the usual rubbish on my hard drive Svhost.exe but this wasn t the solution to my problem So I downloaded and uninstalled a lot of anti-virus programs none of them really helping On the web I found out that maybe I had a SVHOST EXE problem And yes that might be especially since my computer was showing a startup message warning like Windows cannot find svhost Svhost.exe exe Svhost.exe Make sure you typed the name correctly blahblahblah I searched for svhost exe and I found it Svhost.exe in Windows Prefetch brotherly near svchost exe Now some forums on the web say svhost is no good delete it immediately Is this true And how about the start up message Yet the funny thing is after downloading installing and uninstalling all these anti-virus spyware programs but also after defragmenting my hard drive and registry my internet connection wasn t that slow any more But it s still uploading something I also downloaded Hijack This to create a log file of running processes I found out that some instance of Logitech like C Program Files Logitech Desktop Messenger Program BWPlugProtocol- dll is running wild on my machine Logfile of HijackThis v Scan saved at PM on Platform Windows XP SP WinNT MSIE Internet Explorer v SP Running processes C WINDOWS System smss exe C WINDOWS system winlogon exe C WINDOWS system services exe C WINDOWS system lsass exe C WINDOWS system svchost exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe C WINDOWS system spoolsv exe C WINDOWS Explorer exe C WINDOWS system ctfmon exe D Program Files Kaspersky Lab Kaspersky Anti-Virus avp exe C WINDOWS System lvhidsvc exe C Program Files Common Files Microsoft Shared VS DEBUG MDM EXE C Program Files CyberLink Shared Files RichVideo exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe D Program Files Kaspersky Lab Kaspersky Anti-Virus avp exe C Program Files Google Web Accelerator GoogleWebAccWarden exe D Program Files YCIII YankClip exe C Program Files Google Web Accelerator googlewebaccclient exe C Program Files Mozilla Firefox firefox exe C WINDOWS Explorer exe D Program Files HijackThis HijackThis exe R - HKCU Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Start Page R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Start Page R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Search SearchAssistant R - HKCU Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Local Page R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Local Page R - HKCU Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Internet Settings AutoConfigURL http localhost proxy pac F - REG system ini Shell Explorer exe svhost exe O - BHO IDM Helper - C - - B-A BF- B C A A - D Program Files Internet Download Manager IDMIECC dll O - BHO Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper - E F-C D - D -B D- B D BE B - C Program Files Adobe Acrobat ActiveX AcroIEHelper dll O - BHO Google Web Accelerator Helper - A B D-DE - - - BA C C - C Program Files Google Web Accelerator GoogleWebAccToolbar dll O - BHO SSVHelper Class - BB-D F - C-B EB-D DAF D D - C Program Files Java jre bin ssv dll O - BHO iFinger plugin Browser helper object - A D B- C- F - -B D F A B - D PROGRA TEXTTO WEBSTE plugins IE ifp O - BHO Google Toolbar Helper - AA ED - DD- d - -CF F - c program files google googletoolbar dll O - BHO FDMIECookiesBHO Class - CC E F - E - FA- FAA- BF - d Program Files Free Download Manager iefdmcks dll O - Toolbar Google Web Accelerator - DB BFA -A E - E- E A-C D CBF - C Program Files Google Web Accelerator GoogleWebAccToolbar dll O - Toolbar Crack Find Search - A AA -C C - BCF-A D- FDAC EA EB - C WINDOWS SrchPlug dll O - Toolbar amp Google - C B - - d - B - A CD F - c program files google googletoolbar dll O - HKLM Run PCLEPCI C PROGRA PINNAC PPE PPE EXE O - HKCU Run ctfmo... Hello,

Global Moderator, boopme, is helping remove a virus on my computer. He suggested I check here to confirm a question with mulitple svhost.exe in Windows 7.

The computer runs and runs so I check the task manager, and I have several svhost.exe running.

Some say localserviceandNoImpresonation, LocalServicePeerNet, NetworkService,netsvcs.

Some are allowed, restricted and some are not restricted in the firewall status.

I can show you the list if that will help. Seems there are lots of duplicate and variations.

I am trying to determine if it is normal to have multiple svhost.exe running or if this is part of virus.

Please let me know if you need more info.

Thank you!

PC has been acting up. Looked into mscofig/startups and a program "svhost.exe -sr -1"
was listed twice. SVHOST (not svchost)is supposed to be a virus related item. Unchecked same but was checked again upon opening RUN box. Did not open any programs to cause them to be checked. It was listed in my registry under c:\Windows but when I looked into Explorer it was not there. Here again deleted them but they came right back.
Ran a virus check and nothing shows up. Any help.

You find it in the registry, but there is other things that will cause it. Download (preferably in its own directory for the backup files it creates) and run HighJackThis. Save the log (don't fix anything yet) and then name the log. It will appear in NotePad. Copy it and paste the log here.

I am running Vista 32 . I have found a svhost.exe file that is not located in the windows\system32 folder and it is not a microsoft file. When I logon I get various numbered .exe files that are asking permission to be loaded. I also have a Project1 program requesting permission to the internet. Do I have a virus or something. If I do how do I remove it.

hello,

My neighbor's xp machine is running slow. she asked me to check it and I found that the svchost is using alot of virtual memory, upwards of 500,000K. I did the malwarebytes full scan and the avast boot time scan and found no viruses. I was checking in here and others have had the issue. they have uploaded a log and you were able to correct the problem. If you could tell me where the log is and how to retrieve it for uploading, i will upload it and maybe you guys can tell me what I need to do to fix her machine. right now, I am leaning towards re-imaging her machine to correct the issue but if I do not have to do that, that would be great.

thanks in advance

Tim

A:so many svhost in my computer..

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums.
Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.
If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, all tools need to be started by right clicking and selecting Run as Administrator!
Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. From this point, we're in this together ;)
Because of this, you must reply within three days failure to reply will result in the topic being closed!
Please do not PM me directly for help. If you have any questions, post them in this topic.
Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system.
Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. Have means of backing up your data available.____________________________________________________ One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan and password stealer. This type of infection allows hackers to access and remotely control your computer, log keystrokes, steal critical system information, and download and execute files without your knowledge. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it contains any other sensitive information, then from a clean computer, change all passwords where applicable. It would also be wise to contact those same financial institutions to appraise them of your situation.I highly suggest you take a look at the two links provided below:1. How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud, and CC Fraud?2. When should I re-format? How should I reinstall? We can still clean this machine but I can't guarantee that it will be 100% secure afterwards. Let me know what you decide to do. If you decide to go through with the cleanup, please proceed with the following steps.NEXT:Running TDSSKillerPlease read carefully and follow these steps. Download TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop.Extract its contents to your desktop.Once extracted, open the TDSSKiller folder and doubleclick on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then on Start Scan.

Hi Junshi,Welcome to BleepingComputer. My name is dbrisendine and I'll be helping you with this problem. Before I get into the removal of malware / correction of your problem, I need you to be aware of the following:Please read all of my response through at least once before attempting to follow the procedures described.I would recommend printing them out, if you can, as you can check off each step as you complete it. Also, as some of the cleaning may be done in Safe Mode and there will be no internet connection then, you will find that having the steps printed for reference speeds the cleaning process along. If there's anything you don't understand or isn't totally clear to you, please come back to me for clarification before you start those steps. All of the assistants and staff at BleepingComputer are here on a volunteer basis; please respect our time given to the cause of helping others. If you are going to be away for more than 4 days, please let me know here. (I will do the same for you.) We do realize that 'life happens' and situations arise unexpectedly; we just ask that you keep us up to date.Malware removal is a complex, multiple step process; please stay with me on this thread (don't start another thread) until I declare that your logs are clean and you are good to go. The absence of apparent issues does not mean your system is clean; I will tell you when everything looks good for you to go and help you remove the tools we have used.If any of the security programs on your system should give any warnings about the software tools I ask you to download and use, please do not be alarmed. All of the tools I will have you use are safe to use (as instructed) and malware free. While we strive to disrupt your system as little as possible, things happen. If you can, it would be best to back up your personal files now (if you do not already have a backup). You can store these on a CD/DVD, USB drive or stick, anywhere but on your same system. This will save you from possible anguish later if something unforeseen happens. Please do not run any other tools or scanners than what I ask you to.Some of the openly available software made for malware removal can make changes to your system that interfere with the cleaning of the malware, or even destroy your system. Hello,

I am trying to deal with my friends' computer and it behaves wierd.

At first I noticed transparency turned off in AERO, then gigantic RAM load on svhost with constant 13-15% CPU usage.
In general they complain on performance of the laptop. It'a 2014 high-end one, so everything should work smooth.

Ran Combofix, ran FRST. Logs in attachments.

Best regards
Simon

Someone recently posted about Avast stopping an attack from the address Avast will catch the site as having a virus on it - which it does in pldr test jpg In order to determine if Avast is doing a minute check yes it happens every minutes I disabled Avast and simply watched my firewall I have the entire range - blocked - and Avast svhost.exe 77.74.48.111 since they are all the same owner Sure enough my firewall is continuing to block access to this site every minutes The virus on the site is Vitumonde I did get this svhost.exe 77.74.48.111 and Avast virus last svhost.exe 77.74.48.111 and Avast week and was successful in getting rid of quot most quot of it However I think I may still have some remnant of it since my computer is attempting to connect to every minutes What would cause svhost exe to try to connect to every minutes By the way all scans I have done Avast and MBAM show I am virus clean and with my firewall blocking access to the offending site I feel pretty secure The attempted access to is still disturbing me though Any thought on what could cause this - Steve

On opening browser, Task Manager shows many listings of svhost.exe with one always showing up to 100% CPU usage. When I delete that specific listing, CPU space is created temporarily for other uses but it always reverts to the up to 100% level eventually. A real slowdown!!

This has probably been handled before but couldn't find it.

XP SP2, Firefox and IE 7, 2.53 GHz, 960MB RAM

quick question
I did a search and didnt have any luck
I usually come here for my info and usually find what I need-sooo

Gateway computer-have had it over 2 years-no probs
I am running vista home premium sp 2

runs good-dont think I have any virus or anything
but its been slower to load stuff for about a week

svhost.exe(dcomlaunch) is using about 30% cpu
I googled it and it appears to be part of windows update-but I generally take google with a grain of salt LOL

I ran the malwarebites under safe mode,as recommended from here
it came up clean-so it could be a windows thing
ran windows update and made sure nothing was missing

I do plan on buying a new HD,and upgrading to windows 7,as soon as my go-to guy has time
in the meantime
is this possibly a virus?
just a windows thing-and if so what can I do

thanks for any info

Dear all, I have a problem to ask you. My laptop just install windows 7 SP1 64Bit and some microsoft office 2013, and it has 4GB RAM. when it start up it use ram about 1.3GB, but about 5 or 10 mn, I see one svchost process use nearly 2GB, and remaining RAM only 500MB, I don run any application at that time. so, how to gain memory back by killing svchost process or install any hotfixe to solve that problem?note: cpu use only 10 to 30% and hard disk run normally

A:svhost process use much memory

There's some useful advice here as you need to narrow down the problem:http://superuser.com/questions/6937...Process Explorer is good and free. It also allows you to look further into individual items . I would normally say check for malware too but as it's a fresh install I assume that is unlikely.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

A:svhost.exe*32 High CPU Usage?

Hello VivaLaMikey,

After looking at your screenshots and realizing that you have a 64 bit version of Windows installed, a thought occured to me.

That CPU consuming svchost.exe*32 process does not belong on your system!

On a 64 bit Windows system, all legitimate svchost.exe processes do not have the *32 suffix attached to them as they are native 64 bit processes used by Windows that act as containers for groups of services that run on your Windows 7 system.

I see that you are using AVG as your antivirus.

Remove AVG completely from your system by using this removal tool:-
(If you're using AVG 2011)
http://download.avg.com/filedir/util..._2011_1322.exe (32 bit)
http://download.avg.com/filedir/util..._2011_1322.exe (64 bit)
(If you're using AVG 2012)
http://download.avg.com/filedir/util..._2012_1796.exe (32 bit)
http://download.avg.com/filedir/util..._2012_1796.exe (64 bit)
Then download and install MSE and MBAM from the following links and perform a complete scan of your computer with each application, one at a time.
Download Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) from here:
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
Download the updates for MSE from here:
Install the latest Microsoft Security Essentials definition updates - Get the latest definitions - Microsoft Malware Protection Center
Download malwarebytes from here:
Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.61 - FileHippo.com
And the malwarebytes updates from here:

Hope that helps!

Due to circumstances beyond my control my Internet time has been severly limited over the past year I m stuck with a -K dial-up connection with PeoplePC Over the past -months my system started getting slower amp slower as did my Internet connection I had an old un-updated version of Spybot and Norton Anti-Virus with a Norton SystemWorks version I was running scan after scan and NOTHING ever came up as a virus Spyware Malware or the like I regularly ran system defragmenter and I have a program called Window Washer which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to get rid of Internet system junk etc. svhost.exe Spyware, Malware, Then I decided to dedicate a day to solve this problem or try anyway DAMN Data Mining and svhost.exe Spyware, Malware, etc. Spyware BOOMED over the last year Seems like almost every system has stuff hiding that most programs don t detect I took hours of research and downloading one free Spyware Malware remover after another to partially fix my problems There were hidden files EVERYWHERE It seemed like svhost exe running in the background was doing the most damage Using CTRL gt gt gt ALT gt gt gt DELETE I try to monitor programs running in the background but it s not as easy as it used to be to determine stuff that is not needed or shouldn t be there Overall everything is faster now but I know it can be much better still Starting up my system is just as slow as it used to be From the time I push the button until it s ready to go is - minutes Two files that bother me are svchost exe that state NETWORK SERVICE I m not on a Network other than PeoplePC for my net connection plus these are running BEFORE I ever run PeoplePC Nothing runs in my System Tray except Norton and this is a one person PC What should I try James nbsp

Description of Svchost.exe in Windows 2000View products that this article applies to.Article ID : 250320Last Review : November 20, 2003Revision : 3.0This article was previously published under Q250320For a Microsoft Windows XP version of this article, see 314056.On this pageSUMMARY SUMMARYMORE INFORMATION MORE INFORMATIONAPPLIES TO APPLIES TOSUMMARYSvchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that are run from dynamic-link libraries (DLLs). The Svchost.exe file is located in the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder. At startup, Svchost.exe checks the services portion of the registry to construct a list of services that it needs to load. There can be multiple instances of Svchost.exe running at the same time. Each Svchost.exe session can contain a grouping of services, so that separate services can be run depending on how and where Svchost.exe is started. This allows for better control and debugging.Svchost.exe groups are identified in the following registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SvchostEach value under this key represents a separate Svchost group and is displayed as a separate instance when you are viewing active processes. Each value is a REG_MULTI_SZ value and contains the services that run under that Svchost group. Each Svchost group can contain one or more service_names extracted from the following registry key, whose Parameters key contains a ServiceDLL value:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ServiceBack to the top Back to the topMORE INFORMATIONTo view the list of services that are running in Svchost:1. A:Svhost Slowing Down My Computer

Svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that are run from dynamic-link libraries called DLLs. This is a valid system process that belongs to the Windows Operating System which handles processes executed from DLLs. At startup, Svchost.exe checks the services portion of the registry to construct a list of services that it needs to load. Multiple instances of Svchost.exe can run at the same time. Each Svchost.exe session can contain a grouping of services. Therefore, separate services can run, depending on how and where Svchost.exe is started. This grouping of services permits better control and easier debugging. The legit Svchost.exe file is located in the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder. If its running as a startup/shows in msconfig, this can be bad. See here and here. Also make sure of the spelling. If its scvhost.exe this a trojan. See here and here.Use Tasklist to view the list of services processes that are running in Svchost. The /SVC switch shows the list of active services in each process.1. Click Start > Run2. In the Open box, type CMD3. Then press ENTER.4. Type: Tasklist /SVC5. Then press ENTER.For more information about a process, type the following command, and then press ENTER:Tasklist /FI "PID eq processID" (with the quotes) For information about tasklist.exe, type the following at the XP command prompt: tasklist /? You can also download and use Process Explorer by Sysinternals to investigate all processes and gather additional information to identify and resolve problems. This tool will show the process CPU useage, a description and its path.

Hello and welcome. Please follow these guidelines while we work on your PC:Malware removal is a sometimes lengthy and tedious process. Please stick with the thread until I?ve given you the ?All clear.? Absence of symptoms does not mean your machine is clean! Please do not run any scans or install/uninstall any applications without being directed to do so.Please note that the forum is very busy and if I don't hear from you within five days this thread will be closed. Download OTL to your desktop.Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.Under the Custom Scan box paste this in:
netsvcsClick the Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long. When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time and paste them into your next post. Download aswMBR.exe to your desktop.Double click the aswMBR.exe to run itYou will be asked if you want to use Avast! Hello riz_colaI would like to welcome you to the Malware Removal section of the forum.Around here they call me Gringo and I will be glad to help you with your malware problems.Very Important --> Please read this post completely, I have spent my time to put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier, faster and smoother for both of us!Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the "Follow This Topic" Button, make sure that the "Receive notification" box is checked and that it is set to "Instantly" - This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster.NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of heartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer.NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. To open notepad, navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad. Please remember to copy the entire post so you do not miss any instructions.I need to get some reports to get a base to start from so I need you to run these programs first.-Download DDS-Please download DDS from one of the links below and save it to your desktop:Download DDS and save it to your desktopLink1Link2Link3Double-Click on dds.scr and a command window will appear. This is normal.Shortly after two logs will appear:DDS.txtAttach.txtA window will open instructing you save & post the logsSave the logs to a convenient place such as your desktopCopy the contents of both logs & post in your next replyGringo

Hello,

My computer yesterday was infected with the svhost.exe virus. I desperately need to get rid of it, because it's been disabling eveything and I'm afraid my computer is going to crash. How can I remove this, preferably quickly and for free?

Thanks!

A:I Have The Svhost.exe Virus, How Do I Remove It?

svhost.exe is a process which is registered as the [email protected] worm. This virus is distributed via the Internet through e-mail and comes in the form of an e-mail message, in the hopes that you open its hostile attachment. The worm has its own SMTP engine which means it gathers E-mails from your local computer and re-distributes itself. In worst cases this worm can allow attackers to access your computer, stealing passwords and personal data.Install Super Antispyware. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds. http://www.superantispyware.com/Run the online scan for Bit Defender in normal mode. My svhost has been hogging up my CPu usage for a few days. I took a tracklist of my processes and I narrowed it down to PID 320. I just don't know how to tell which services are causing which problems.

svchost.exe 320 AudioEndpointBuilder, CscService, EMDMgmt,
Netman, PcaSvc, SysMain,
TabletInputService, TrkWks, UxSms,
WdiSystemHost, WPDBusEnum, wudfsvc

These are all part of the "LocalSystemNetworkRestriced" Group.

A:svhost 124MB Hogging resources

It is my understanding that all the Microsoft services and other generic services go through the svchost.exe process. You may have a service that is performing a task, such as IIS serving web pages. Take a look at your services (right click My Computer - Manage - Services)

Is there anything suspicious in this list?

I experience 100% CPU usage on my PC and found out it is the svchost.exe that is sucking up all the CPUs.
I read many posts about the solutions to fix this, but want to get advise from this forum on the best, safest way to fix that.
Don't want cause any problems when apply those solutions, if someone can give me a Microsoft recommended method to fix this issue, will be greatly appreciated.

A:how do i locate my SVhost To delete this Spyware?

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTSetup.exe
Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I'm having all kinds of problem. First, it started with the Google search redirect. So I started doing some research and most of the resolutions were run Malwarebytes. Then start having problem with svhost.exe running high CPU and memory usage. Now, the Firefox randomly opens up a new tab and once that happen, it doesn't take much before, either my computer crashes or freezes. I think I've made it worst by following some of the resolutions I found on the net. I've ran, Malwarebytes, Spybot, Unhackme, ComboFix, and etc. Everything came back clean (I've cleaned using those programs) but still having same issues. Since, I have multiple logs from Hijackthis and DDS, I have attached the logs instead. PLEASE HELP!!!

A:Svhost.exe taking up 50% CPU, NO SAFE MODE, anybody heard of this?

If you're willing to format, that is also what I would do. If you have anything important on the hard drive, you should attempt to back it up, whether it's to a CD, USB pen, slave it to another computer etc.

If it continues to happen after formatting it suggests a hardware problem, but let's see what happens after a format first.

I have recently been having problems with one of the svhost.exe processes first seen in Task Managerwhich has been constantly running at 25% CPU usage.. I located it to the DCom Server Process Launcherand did a scan (antivirus) with Zone Alarm.. which indeed did find several trojans and two viruses.. rescanned and no more were found.. although I did have to uninstall .Net Framework and Windows LiveMessenger.. I have checked and scanned my PC with System Mechanic Professional which located several registry errors and a few errors on my HDD.. which were fixed or so I hope however whenI start up my PC this svhost.exe is still running at 25% I have run Process Explorer and takena snapshot of the results

A:svhost.exe > Dcom Server Process Launcher

It's possible that there is still Malware on the computer. Try this scan:Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (v1.44) and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition.

And for no reason I've started getting this message every time I start my computer:

"Error loading nvCpl.dll
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

How do I stop this?

Thanks!!

A:fault with nvCpl.dll on Windows XP

It appears to be a control panel applet for Nvidia display adapter. If you have this video adapter in your system, look for an updated driver.

I would try running chkdsk /r from the Recovery Console, rather than from within your XP install. How to Create a Bootable XP Recovery Console CD - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/276527/how-to-create-a-bootable-xp-recovery-console-cd/You could also try Dial-a-fix To Repair Windows Internals Problems - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/160132/how-to-use-dial-a-fix-to-repair-windows-internals-problems/ You could also try the Exe File Association Fix from http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm.Louis

A:Help please. Screen fault on windows 7

ok im had a similar problem in vista, i fond i had the problem whilst connecting to a network and playing games/videos etc... Try updating your graphics drivers or reinstalling them if they are new, and as unrelated it may seem if you are using a wifi card try updating or reinstall its driver. This seemed to work for me in vista but after a month or so it would start doing it again. Strangely enough i have never had the problem in win7.

Sorry if this doesn't help its just a suggestion from my past experiences..

a few weeks ago my computer stopped being able to automatically connect to wireless networks of any kind.. now whenever i want to go online wirelessly i must go to network connections and select a network.. that isn't the problem though.. the problem is that it fails to connect EVERY TIME and i must go through the troubleshooter.. which then tells me that the access point is bad (which is every access point on the planet) and still does not connect.. but, after going through this process a 2nd time it will connect. it has me confused. I know the first thing said is the driver is out of date, but since toshiba refuses to bring out a new one for this laptop and they have their own drivers for everything on this thing, there isn't much in that route i can do.
