Preferred Solution: Solved: Windows keep closing

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have noticed for about a month now, When I am playing poppit and I try to open a new window to check my email it automatically closes out my open poppit game, and changes to my inbox sign-in page. Use to I could play poppit and open another window to check my hotmail and the game window stayed open. Does anyone know why this keeps happening to me? It's very frustrating for me. {Poppit is just one exsample}

Hi
I have been having some problems with my laptop. I have a Sony xperia z and need to update its software but whenever I load the program it uses to manage files on it- Sony pc companion- Windows will pop up a little window saying its not responding withing a few seconds of it loading and closes the program. I try this with a few other programs and this is a re-occuring problem with quite a few of the ones i tested. Sony pc companion isnt a resource intensive program at all and i have nothing else running at the same time. I ran AVG just in case but nothing showed up.

ANY HELP WOULD BE MASSIVELY APPRECIATED!

Thanks

When I opened multiple links and then close the last link every thing shuts down. I end up having to sign in to Yahoo and start all over, and it happens every time. I also get a message when I start my Yahoo that IE has a problem and must close, but it doesn't close.....nothing happens except for the message. Is there an option somewhere that I can select that allows multiple windows to stay open when I close just one?

Hello everyone I'm having the issue noted above BSODs attribute the crash to either one of two files cdd dll most commonly and win k sys only once Screen turns jagged goes black and then BSOD but only when closing of Warcraft, World Chrome BSOD resizing/closing also when occasionally I've had this crashes happen to me only times in a whole week already World of BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome Warcraft crashes were all succesive BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome but after updating Catalyst drivers it never happened again PC was crash-free for or days thought it may have solved the issue and I could stop worrying about faulty hardware components but yesterday night closing Chrome it happened again I turned off Aero desktop after that just in case The problem is I can't find any Memory dump or minidump for those BSODs even though settings are on for that maybe MEMORY DMP is too large I have free Gb out of on my boot drive I changed it to minidumps just in case Oh also it was already set to overwrite so no idea what's going on Could not find them manually nor could SF Diagnostics tools which I just ran My rig is new only about months old and no hardware changes since The only components coming from my older PC are the boot HDD and graphics card The only thing that's happened is or power outages in December but BSODs started only last week If any hardware components are malfunctioning they are luckily under warranty but I need to determine if that's the case Only other strange thing is that when gathering my rig's data for this post Everest shows my Motherboard as quot Unknown quot I'll double check I installed all drivers Thanks in advance btw great tool that SF Diagnostics I'm no computer wizard but it's quite useful even for an amateur like me

A:BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome

Hi Haxiel.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

A:Slow browser, IE closing, Outlook and Yahoo closing

Hi Elise,
thank you. I ended up getting rid of PC Tools Internet Security and switching to AVG Basic Free. I think most of the major problems went away.
Yahoo has stayed up, Outlook has stayed up, browser seems to work quickly, facebook didn't have floating text and pictures anymore, was able to do some posting, sent some large emails. But, and not exactly sure, IE has frozen up, but not as often. The dds program you had me run this morning froze and I had to do a hard shut off, task mgr didn't respond and the weirdest thing of all, the clock stopped. Can't say I have ever seen that. So I am not sure what exactly is going on, if it really is malware or some setting is messed up. I wasn't able to run video on a site last night. Major improvement since I got rid of PC tools, but not quite right. Sorry, nontechie.

Obvious to anyone. You have three malware apps running live at the same time. You have Avast, Kaspersky, and AVG.

You need to remove them all and install Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST.

If you continue to crash even after removing them upload the DMP file as you have old drivers that need updating.

My Windows is now set such that if I close a window, it closes all windows. How do I set it to close only the window I selected? Can it be set up to close the selected window without asking if I want to close them all?

Thanks - Jim

Guess what they are called is "TABS"

Hi folks,

apologies if this has been asked before, I have not been able to find anything relevant, but may have missed something.

In a MS Word 2010 VBA form I have several mandatory fields that are checked for completion by an 'On exit' event. My problem is that is a user tabs into one of these fields and then before entering any data decides to give up and cancels the form, the message box is still displayed and left hanging. Further, when the user clicks on the message box to close it the systems complains because it can no longer find the next bit of code to execute.

How can I check for, and close, any open message boxes when the form is exited using 'Cancel'. Alternatively is ter a better way of achieving the same functionality?

thanks

A:Solved: Closing msg box on exit

Hi there,

It sounds like you need a before close event to look for certain conditions. You can do this but it takes implementing a class module. I'll detail the process, but please read carefully.

Open the Visual Basic Editor (VBE) by pressing ALT + F11, or clicking Visual Basic on the Developer tab (if it's not visible, right-click the ribbon, select Customize, check Developer on right and click OK).

Find your project in the Project Explorer (press CTRL + R if it's not visible).

Right-click your project (anywhere) and select Insert | Class Module

Right-click your project (anywhere) and select Insert | Module

Select your class module, press F4, the Properties pane should show
Change the Name property to clsDocEvents - you can change this name to whatever you want, but you'll have to change the code below as well

In each of the modules (double-click them to view their code pane) paste the following code...

In the clsDocEvents module:

Code:
Option Explicit

Public WithEvents WordApp As Word.Application

Private Sub WordApp_DocumentBeforeClose(ByVal Doc As Document, Cancel As Boolean)

'/// As a test condition only
Dim bConditions As Boolean
bConditions = False

If bConditions = False Then
MsgBox "Conditions haven't been met. Please see to it before you close this document.", vbCritical, "Whoops!"
Cancel = True
End If

End Sub
In the Module1 (or whatever your standard module name is, it doesn't matter, unlike the class module):

Code:
Option Explicit

Dim clsDoc As New clsDocEvents

Sub CreateEventHook()
Set clsDoc.WordApp = Word.Application
End Sub
Sub DestroyEventHook()
Set clsDoc = Nothing
End Sub

Sub AutoExec()
Call CreateEventHook
End Sub
Sub AutoExit()
Call DestroyEventHook
End Sub
In the ThisDocument module:

Code:
Option Explicit

Private Sub Document_Open()
AutoExec
End Sub
That's it for the code. If you read through you'll notice in the class module I just have a variable (bConditions) currently set to false. This is where/how you would set the conditions to exit. You can either put your code in this routine or call another routine which does the checking for you, e.g. in a custom function.

I have run a virus scan which took me four hours but that hasn't solved the problem. So at the moment, I can't access the Internet at all. Any help would be appreciated

Someone downloaded a program onto my computer and I want to delete it. I'm able to get to add/delete, but when I click to delete the program it says I have to close the program first, but I can't figure out how to close it. Help!!

A:{SOLVED}Closing a program

press control/alt/delete. this should bring up task manager, select the program and press end task. Also make sure there are no shortcuts to it in the startup menu or it will try to start up the next time you boot.
If you know the program name and are using win98 go to start, run, type msconfig, select startup tab, uncheck it in there. That will disable it from starting up

just recently i have been receiving an error message saying explorer has to close because memory could not be "read" most of the times i click ok, and then the desktop re-appears but some times it just seems to stay without a desktop, you can still use programs but have a lot of trouble getting to them the other times when i click debug it says DR.(whatever its called) postmortem has encountered a problem and has to close... sorry i could not get a screenshot or exact wording because i could not access anything, at that point it was a bit of a freeze up
normally this would be just an inconvinace but now im using the computer more seriously and normally have plenty of programs running
this problem started just after i did a mass install of windows updates because i completely forgot about them for a while

any help is appreciated

Hey this might sound noobish but i'm getting into programming in C++ and i'm going through these tutorials on this book and whenever I compile and run something, the command line application closes almost instantly after it runs, I'm pretty sure it's not my code because I wrote a simple code to find the area of a rectangle and the answer pops up for less than a second. A:Solved: Visual C++ Programs Closing

These sound like console apps.
If you are running in the debugger - just put a breakpoint on a line at the end.
If there is a "return 0;" statement -- use it.
You could also run these from the cmd prompt in the folder that the exe is produced - or you could program in a pause or whatever

Does anyone know if there is a dos command or even a command in Win98 or WinXP that you can click or input that will close the CD drawer.
Basically the opposite action of the context menu item "eject" that opens the drive

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have usually been able to get the DOS window of a batch file to close by preceding the script with 'Echo off' and ending it with 'Cls'. But a batchfile that invokes Autohotkey and then a script in AutoHotKey, does not close;, not even when I end the batchfile with EXIT. I suspect that the focus may have moved from DOS, and so DOS commands are no longer executed. Whether or not that is true, how can I get the DOS window to close automatically ?

Quick question:
Anyone know any code that can be run to open AND close a specified CD drive. I know that this seems like a really stupid question, but .....

It does not necesarily have to be vbscript, if someone knows a command line operation that will do the same thing, or a registry tweak/shortcut that can be created in windows to do it. Basically the same thing as the context menu (right clicking) in windows where it shows "Eject".
Like I said, sounds like a weird question, but I would appreciate some help.

Thank you,

Hello, Didn't know where else to put this, but anyway when playing yahoo games once getting into the game room there are a couple windows open behind, and once quitting the room, you are back at the rooms window. There is where I am having the problem - it will not close without using task manager. Does anyone know why and how to fix this? I'm using XP and I'm not quite sure whether java has anything to do with this, the browser IE6 or XP2 or something else. It never happens anywhere else except on yahoo games, but I really don't play any other games.

Thanks for any ideas.

Having some real problems. I willl start with the most important one. Outlet Express. I open it and it cl;oses on its own before a message can even be selected. Just started doing this this morning. I rebooted and no change.

I tried a few other programs and they are fine so it appears to be just OE

A:Solved: outlook express closing

Well I know there is no error message but some system stat's would be good along with the version of outlook express. Also becasue it is Outlook Express doing this I would like you to do a HijackThis

To download HJTsetup.exe To Download HijackThis go to the following: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/html/downloads.html
Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Open a TechSupportGuy forum Reply window for this thread, to have ready to paste the Hijackthis log into. Click once to place the typing cursor in the reply window.
At the top of your TSG/browser window, hit Edit then Paste
You should see your copied Hijackthis log appear in the reply space....then, submit the reply
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I'm having problems checking my email. I go onto hotmail, and when I look at my inbox, my entire webbrowser closes out. What's up with that?

The only thing I did prior to that happening, is I was creating a rule for my Outlook box to delete messages with certain texts in the subject heading. But Outlook, on my computer, does not even connect to my hotmail account.

I doubt that's what caused it, but now I can't check my email with my computer.

I have several protective programs running..
like "Adware, Fix It 5,SpywareStopper"
but I haven't found any viruses...

When I run SpyBot, it comes up with about 23-25 entries AND I stall when I get to create a restore point. After a lon---g period of time the (not responding)
goes on.

Another problem is that WinRAR opens but closes unexpectedly...

Are these problems possibly related or do I have different issues???

Thanks for any help!

A:Creating a Restore Point & Windows XP Explorer Windows closing

http://forums.techguy.org/t110854.html Follow this link to Rollin Rog Security Tools It is hard to tell from your report exactly what spy ware programs you are running . Scroll down the page to Parasitic , Download Ad-Aware SE , Spy Bot Search and Destroy , Spy Ware Blaster . Setup and update according to the tutourials. Go to Panda Active Scan or other online virus scanner and run a scan . If you do not have an anti virus program aboard go to Grisoft AVG and download the personal free edition . Use these programs only for now and shut down any other spyware / malware programs you mayhave running . After using the programs from Rollin Rog Security Tools come back and let us know how things are now running .

A:Windows XP hangs a little after closing Firefox or Windows Mail and lag games.

A little update...

I ran Advance WindowsCare V2 Peronal and let it "clean and fix" everything but I still get the delay/lag after closing almost any program. For instance, I opened up Windows defrag utility, closed it and tried clocking on start and it didn't open for about 3 or 4 seconds. I don't know what's causing this but it will also slow my game mention above down like I have something else using a lot of CPU power or something for a few seconds...and this happens in the game quite often...I'd say it does it at least once every minute.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? It's very annoying and I would hate to have to reinstall Windows since I just literally got everything reinstalled and copied back over when this problem started occurring. If you need any more info or logs, let me know. Thanks.

This is happening to my roommate's laptop, and it's quite annoying..

When she goes into some links, the page loads, and it closes right before she can see its content.

She's using WinXp.

I tried msconfig, same thing.

This has already happened to a guy, and he posted it in 2003, no one really helped him..

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum...00/t1067363088

I hope someone can help me (her).

Thx^^

A:IE windows closing by themselves

A few things to try: run an anti virus scan; download/install/run AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy (both available at Download.com); reinstall Internet Explorer or...

If these do not help another possibility...
Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. We do not need the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Post the log in the HighJackThis Log Help forum

The best scenario I can use is this: I play on Pogo and to start with I am on the home page. Then I will open the game I wish to play which opens another window. When I want to close the game window the whole pogo site closes and I am back to my desk top. I have checked other places besides Pogo and the same thing is happening. I have Windows xp- 7. This has been happening for 3 days now. Can you please help me? Thanks ans have a good day

Hello,
I'm having problems with keeping folders open on my computer. Since Im not very technical I'll just explain the process and problem.
I wish to access a video file (.avi) on my computer so i open up my comp, open the required drive, and select the appropriate folder. When in the folder sometimes the window displaying the files will shut down after one or two seconds displaying the the message that windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close (sometimes this only happens after clicking on an actual file, depends on the folder.) I'm not sure why or if its a virus of some sort (I have an up-to-date version of Norton protection centre which doesn't detect anything), any help would be much appreciated because its becoming quite an annoyance not being able to access files.
(the files worked fine before so i know its not because of them.)
Thanks in advance.

I have been having problems for a long time having windows shutting down when I access a site. For example, if I go to a site and a small window pops up with some kind of info regarding the site and it then closes, then the original window also closes. Can someone please help me solve this? Is this a common problem with VISTA, or is it just on my computer? Many thanks!

Hi so I ve had closing! Windows keep this problem for a while now and I m finally getting sick of it My programs and windows will randomly close without warning and without being considered a crash when I try to access a file program or internet page with a certain word in the title The key word that seems to close things Windows keep closing! seems to be Windows keep closing! the word quot download quot When I try to open a program with the word in the title it closes If I try to open my Downloads file it closes the explorer window If I try to open an internet page with the word in the URL it will close the tab almost instantly The only other thing of note that has also been affected seems to be the main Control Panel The one where you can access all the little sub-categories which themselves work fine which closes on its own aswell My computer is an HP laptop whose model I forget and runs Windows Home Basic I inherited this computer from a relatives business who bought it and relied on an employee to use it though the employee did not know what they were doing have the time and installed countless useless web applications like toolbars and such most of which I had to go through the pain-staking task of removing one-by-one And I have no doubt there are still some in there that don t show up in the remove and uninstall page Any help would be greatly appreciated Hope you can help me and my thanks in advance nbsp

Trying to help a friend who has Vista 32-bit. The past few weeks, whenever she shuts down Itunes, the computer crashes. Everything else in Itunes works.....it's only when she closes the application. Checked out some of the Apple support troubleshooting techniques, but nothing seems to work. BTW, when in safe mode, Itunes shuts down without a problem.

A:Solved: Itunes crashes Vista when closing

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes? Make sure if you do this, that anything in Itunes that needs to be kept is backed up.

Is it possible to solve this problem ?

I have Windows XP. All my softwares are working except Explorer and Outlook.

When I try to open them, they open for a few seconds beforer closing.

Thanks for your help.

A:Solved: Need help: Explorer and Outlook are closing automatically

You should check for Viruses and spyware that may be causing this first. But are you doing anything else (running other programs, trying to open other applications) when this happens? Did you recently make any changes (updates, Registry clean up, Internet options) to computer settings? Or did you install any software recently? And when did it start doing this?

Then I get messages about changing the global template.

After having recently reinstalled Windows XP Home ed I loaded up Windows Update to get myself as protected as one can get with XP. Anyway I got all the security updates for SP1 and I downloaded SP2 however whenever I attempt to install it It goes as far as creating a file called sp2.cab and then I get a standard Red x error message telling me that 'The process terminated unexpectedly' with an option of OK. Selecting Ok brings a pop up box with Service Pack 2 installation did not complete'

My question is thus, how can I either get it to install properly or delete the files I downloaded so I can try to download it again to see if that will work.

I've got Norton Internet Security 2007 if that could be causing issues but I disabled it for the purpose of testing it and I'm getting the same error message

A:[SOLVED] Issues with SP2 installation - closing suddenly

You do not need to download the updates prior to SP2 . . it includes all the prior updates. In fact, the best time to upgrade to SP2 is immediately after installing XP . . before any drivers, applications or updates.

Try downloading the full update package here, it will usually go in when the Windows update package will not.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

And be sure to disable any anti-virus or anti=spyware programs for the upgrade

Hi "Techguys",

I am trying to run msconfig to reduce the startup clutter on my son's laptop but msconfig closes after a second or two, making it unusable. A couple of previous posts on TechGuy indicate this may be due to a viral infection or trojan, which also affects regedit. Sure enough regedit does the same but Task Manager works OK. I am running windows XP (Media centre edition).

Oh, no, now I can't run HJT!

I have downloaded HJTSetup.exe but when I just tried to run HJTSetup.exe to install it, this also closes. It happens about a second after I click on "Install" when I can see the licence window, but before I can click Accept.

What can I do now! Would a screenshot of task manager processes be any help?

regards
Andy

Hey , i really need help with this - how to make a batch file close itself if the same one is already running ? I need this so my users don't open the same program multiple times . If you want to check what i'm doing PM me or ask me here .

A:Solved: Batch file closing if the same one is running

What you would want to do at the top of your batch file is use the TASKLIST program to find cmd.exe with the window title of your batch file. IF it finds it then exit your batch file.
Then after that set the Title of your batch file

So do something like this at the top of your batch file
Code:
for /F "tokens=1" %%G in ('tasklist /V /NH /FO TABLE /FI "WINDOWTITLE eq BATCH1"') do IF %%G==cmd.exe exit /b
TITLE BATCH1
First time it runs it will not find BATCH1
Second time it runs it should exit the batch file.

I just upgraded from earlier versions of word and powerpoint to Office 2007 Professional, and I am having a problem with Word. I am operating with XP Pro SP3.

When I go to close the program, if I use the normal X in the upper right corner, nothing happens and Word hangs. I have to use the task manager to close the program. However, if I use the close button on the menu at the left hand end, the program closes normally. Also, if I use the X for closing the document, the entire program closes.

Powerpoint, excell, and all the other programs except word do not have any problems closing with the close X in the upper right corner.

I guess I am doing something really stupid here, since this is a major upgrade and a lot of changes. Anyone got any idea if I am doing something wrong?

Thanks!

An odd thing as occured in the past week.
I am using Vista 64bit OS.
As we all know, when we click the (x) in the upper right to close a web page, it should close on one click. Also when going to the task bar and right clicking to close the page.
It is taking me three or more clicks to close the page. The back arrow seems un-affected. The open web page seems to hang and then closes.
I have no problems in closeing normal windows within the os.
I've checked for malware using malwarebytes and nothing comes up. I also have no viruses according to my payed version of AVG. I keep my system clean of junk files etc.

Any advice and or guidedence would be great.
Thank you.

Ernest

A:Windows Explorer Keeps Closing

For your Firefox problem, try the following.
Start> Mozilla Firefox> Mozilla Firefox(Safe Mode). This starts Firefox without
any extensions and the default theme. If this solves the problem, then it is an
extension or theme effecting Firefox. If that doesn't help, create a new profile.
Your profile may have become corrupt.

Using windows 2000. I keep getting the following error:

"iexplore.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows"

Doesn't seem to matter where I surf to it just pops up and closes my window. Very aggravating.

Any ideas please?

Update: I've discovered that the problem lies in the file called ntdll.dll. I cannot simply delete it and replace it unfortunately. I have recently done a reformat and clean install of windows. Got all IE and windows security updates. I have no idea what could be causing the problem but it seems to be getting worse as I use the computer.

I use the system apps Mail, Calendar, and Groove Music. Since I first starting using Windows 10 many months ago, these apps keep closing without any indication of why. They close when during active sessions and on awakening they're usually closed. Groove Music will close at times while I'm listening to music. Why is this happening? I kept thinking that system updates would eventually resolve the issue, but they haven't, despite many updates.

When I try to open a media file (video-audio) it comes up with the message, windows explorer must close then gives me an option to send an error report i have ran, adaware se, spybot, bugdoctor and mcafee. What operating system are you using? If it is XP or XP Pro, go to system restore and pick a restore date from before you began experiencing this problem.

I am pretty sure i know what the problem is but i cant' figure out how to fix it. I think i have downloaded a bad file and it planted some kind of virus or somthing of that nature. all of my downloads are saved to
C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Administrator\shared
Whenever i try to open that file it wont open. And whenever i try to open windows media and its starts to load the library it also closes. The same thing with i tunes, but only if i open the library.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Scan the problem folder for viruses. If the antivirus finds one but can't delete, make a note of what it is and then just look up how to get rid of it on google.

I downloaded ad aware and was advised when doing it to close any programs
running, before installing it.

I knew how to do this on my old Win 95 but not sure how to on XP.

( just another dumb question, that the easiest to answer)

Thanks for any help.

You're probably ok installing it without ending anything but here's how to do it. Press Alt/Ctrl/Del and Task Manager should appear. Click on the "Applications" tab and you can end them from there ...
