Acer Not Booting

Q: Acer Not Booting

My acer aod250 says "Check cable connection..! PXE-E63: Error while initializing the NIC. PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key."
I have no bootdisk or cd drive. I've gone to the setup utilities and have been booting it from there for over a year but it doesn't work anymore.
I need help, please!
(acer support won't help me)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an Acer Aspire 5520-5334 with winvista
When i boot up with the charger in, i go to the windows error recovery screen.
It says that the windows had failed to start.
It lists options for startup.

Safe Mode
Safe mode with networking
(etc)

When i choose any of these options, it continues to boot up. Then, the system shuts down again.
Its shuts down at various times, sometimes at the window loading screen, sometimes at the error recovery screen.
Once i made it to my desktop before it crashed.
I think its just out of batteries, but im running my laptop plugged in.
Is it a hardware problem?
Help Please!

A:Acer Laptop not booting up.

You have most likely an impacted or damaged hard drive. So you need to find a real Windows Vista dvd to boot to, which of course you don't have and that is part of the reason laptops are so inexpensive now, and as you approach the install you will see repair options at the bottom of the screen including startup repair and hard drive repair etc.

On a Windows 8 computer, make sure Secure Boot is disabled. Also disable FastBoot. If that does not work enable Legacy boot. It can also be called CSM boot.

Edit: For the problem of not being able to access the boot menu with F12 see this.

hi guys,
having a major issue with my acer 9303 laptop. It just went dead. The power button illuminates, hdd light flickers twice but cannot get past that point. DVD drive has power and will eject, when I plug in a usb mouse, that illuminates aswell, which means that power seems to be going through ok, but no fan noise. Luckily I have this netbook that I am using in the meantime.

I have carried out the following:-
a. swapped the hdd from the netbook to the acer, no change.
b. upgarded the ram to 2 gig a year ago, so swapped back to the original ram, no change
c. tried with battery, without battery, direct power from plug, etc, no change.
d. if I keep my fingers pressed on the power button which is illuminated, it switches off after a few seconds
any ideas ? much appreciated

Upon initial boot, i am presented with two options: Start windows normally, which shows a split second of a blue screen then returns to the previous screen, or Launch Startup Repair, which brings me to a page that is stuck at "Windows is loading files." It doesnt do anything after that. I tried safe mode, Safe mode, i also tried Factory reset by hitting alt+f10 and that brings me to a blank black screen with a white dash in the upper left corner, and also does nothing after that. Nothing i have tried works. It either freezes or brings me back to the previous screen. I heard from a few friends it could be the BIOS or hard drive?

A:Acer Aspire One D255E Not booting

Well; have you tried doing a startup repair using the window disc? If not i would try doing that first and see what happens. As far as the hard drive goes; can you hear any unusual sounds coming from the hard drive like clicking etc? cause that could indicate that the drive is about to go south.

i am trying to fix my dads laptop. whenever i turn it on it goes into the safe mode option screen. then if i do "start windows normally" then it goes to the windows boot screen and then flashes the blue screen of death for half a second so you cant read it, and then restarts and does the same thing over again. if you go into safe mode then it starts, well, going into safe mode with the white letters and everything. but then it just restarts. if you do "last known goo configuration" then it does the same thing as "start windows normally.

I found a guide on the internet explaining that by installing a linux distro i can restore my Acer Aspire (windows 7 home premium) back to default. I did it before about 4 months ago this same way and it worked fine. But now it says that the BOOT/BCD is invalid.
The only option i saw left was to download the official home premium x64 iso off the internet but my question is can I use my oem product key sticker to activate it?

I'm downloading it right now just in case it becomes a viable option...

A:Acer Aspire 5520 Not Booting to OS

A couple of things to try
1) As the PC starts Tap F8 - see if you get a menu appear - if so, select, with the arrow keys, safemode - see if that boots
2) You could try booting a virtual operating system - see if that loads at all - Ubuntu
UBUNTU
It may be possible to boot from another Operating System
This will at least test the Hardware

If you have another PC with a cdwriter and spare CD
goto http://www.ubuntu.com/ and download the ISO

full details are here http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/

click on the image "download ubuntu"
Select a location
then begin download
Save the file onto your PC – remember where you saved it – so you can find it again to create the image bootable CD.

You do NOT copy the ISO file onto a CD - you have to use the ISO to create a bootable CD
The CD creator software you have on the PC may have an option to create an image from an ISO
If not - use this free program http://www.imgburn.com/

When the UBUNTU CD boots - you will see the following options
1) Try ubunto without any change to your computer
2) Install ubuntu
3) Check CD for defects
4) Test memory
5) Boot from first hard disk.

Use OPTION 1 "Try ubunto without any change to your computer" ONLY this option this will run from the CD and not install onto your harddrive - be careful, if you do install onto the PC - you will wipe the data and software OFF your hard drive.., so repeat only use option 1

Now you should see a UBUNTU desktop
This at least proves the main parts of the PC are working

Apologies if this is the wrong section.

Basically, my sister's (rather new) Acer laptop has been having some problems... When Windows had loaded, it said there has been an error and it had to restart. It couldn't be booted in safe mode either. I tried the restore option which said it would wipe everything and reinstall Windows, but now when I try to load it up I get an error saying "Windows has failed to install" and it restarts to try again. None of the options are working (safe mode, debugging, etc.)

Oh, and there are no sort of installation CD's. Just 2 that had to be made when it was first used, "Recovery" disc 1 & 2. They couldn't be loaded ofc.

Is there anything at all I can do?
Willing to provide more information if necessary
Thank you.

I have an Acer 1640z
I can't boot from the CD ROM
I've checked the BIOS - the first device it should boot to should be the CD Drive
But it just doesn't want to know
I've tried several different discs now - nothing works

Is there a special key to press?
I've tried F8, nothing
F2: takes me to BIOS
Anything else?

What could be the problem?
I want to install Ubuntu to try out - if I don't get anywhere, is there any other way I can install withouth booting from a CD?

Thanks
OM

A:Trouble booting from CD on Acer laptop

There are two methods. The first is a virtual machine, which will let you test in a virtual environment whilst within Windows, but performance is not representative as you only use virtualised hardware. Fortunately, there's a way of installing Ubuntu on your hard drive from within Windows: Wubi.

http://wubi-installer.org/

Give that a try.

The best thing about it is that if you find you don't like Ubuntu and want to remove it, all you do is go to Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features and uninstall it through there. Have fun!

Support/recovery disks-USB media must be created by user in the first days of use (normally a pop-up/reminder is triggered from system)windows key are embedded on BIOS, so it will automatically read by windows 10 or 8 if version matches (8 home- 10 home; 10 PRO - 8 PRO) Reading your report, it looks more an HDD issue but...can also be an OS issue too, as you mentioned. if you need a windows 8 media to boot and have an HDD/OS check:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

Hi all knowledgable folk! My Acer has been working well for the year or so I've had it, however a couple of days ago things have been going wrong Firstly, the touchpad has completely gone, does not respond at all and there is no cursor at all. Secondly (might be related), when booting it frequently cycles through the Acer boot screen, restarting itself several times, until a Windows repair option displays, when accepting the defauly option of Restarting Windows 8.1, the PC will finally boot and I have no issues (apart from the touchpad) until I next need to boot. Also, if the PC hibernates, it will not come out of this mode which then requires a hard reset. I've reinstalled Windows which has not helped, so I'm at a loss as to what do to next. Any suggestions? Maybe a BIOS update or something? Many thanks in advance all,

looks to me like its not finding your boot device (i.e hard drive) and its trying to boot from your network card first thing would be to open the case and reseat all cables going to your hard drive.. then try getting into the bios and see if its detected (usual keys are ESC / F1 /F2 / F12 / Delete) you could also try F8 at the acer screen and see if it brings up a boot device selector menu if its detecting your hard drive then plz reply and let us know and we can help you more from there

I had to look up BartPE to see what it was but I think it's unlikely to save the day in your situation.

Assuming that your priority is to get Windows 7 back I'd first check that you have the Microsoft authorisation code for your copy. If it was pre-installed on the laptop there will be a hidden restore partition and you could try holding down the Alt key while tapping F10 to access it. Failing that option I'd download a Windows 7 SP1 ISO, burn it to disc, reinstall the OS and hope that there are no serious driver problems. Both options mean that everything you have installed and saved will be lost unless you have already made backups.

Hello...I will start from the begining .

I bought the Acer V5 and tried booting it up...it came with boot-up Linux which means nothing to me so I made a Windows 8 bootable USB and the problems started. First I could'n find the USB and after enabling the Legacy mode it finally found it and booted from it. Turned out the partitions are GPT and as I made the USB MBR it couldn't install so I canceled which I guess was my mistake but there was no other option. After that I created the bootable USB with GPT partition scheme and tried again. Unfortunately this time I got something called GNU GRUB....wth? I googled around and found the commands required for booting - root (hd1,0), then chainloader +1 and finally boot. Then I get the famous The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains errors with Status: 0xc000000e. Of course tried that couple of more times but still to no avail. I cannot recover or repair as Windows was never really installed, so I don't know what to do....Hopefully someone here would be able to help. Thanks in advance guys.

A:Solved: Acer 5517 not charging/booting

Test the charger's voltage output with a DVM if you can, it should be close to the figure written on it or maybe a little higher which is ok.

If you can't do that a new charger should be quite cheap on Ebay.
It should work without a battery connected if the charger is working properly.

If a working charger makes no difference you could take a chance and buy a new battery or take it in to a repair shop.

Can you help ?

A:Acer Laptop Travelmate 240 booting up problem

Hello Ramesh Suri

I think you will need an XP installation CD to fix this. If you do not have one, borrow one just to run this fix.

Then
Configure your PC to boot from CD if it isn't already set up that way. You may need to enter the BIOS to configure the PC to boot from the CD.
Set the boot order to
Floppy (if present)
CDROM
Hard Disk
SAVE and EXIT

Start your PC with the XP Setup CD in the drive. When you see the "Press any key to boot from CD..." prompt, do so and let the CD-based boot process begin.

When the Recovery Console option is offered ("Press R to start the Recovery Console"), do so. You may be asked which Windows installation to enter, in which case type the number of the Windows installation you wish to work on (usually "1").

When prompted, enter the Administrator's password for that Windows installation. If you did not set a password just press ENTER

At the command prompt, type
Bootcfg /Rebuild
ENTER

The exact wording will depend on your setup, but after a few moments you'll see a prompt that says something like:
Total Identified Windows Installs: 1
[1] C:\Windows
Add Installation To Boot List?

Assuming the information you see is correct, enter
Y
Bootcfg will start the process of rebuilding the boot list to include the indicated Windows installation

After a moment, you'll be asked to "Enter Load Identifier."
This is the name of the operating system that will appear in boot menus.
Type
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
or
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
(whichever your system is)
ENTER
Next you'll be asked to "Enter OS Load Options."
For normal installations, enter
/Fastdetect
ENTER

Type
Exit
to leave the Recovery Console and reboot the PC

Heyas all

Been a while since i last posted here, but still the first place i come for answers
Hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction.

My laptop (Acer Aspire 3054 Wxmi) decided to go belly up on me today. At first i thought it was the HDD, but even with a different drive in it still has the same problem. It picks up the drive in the bios, i've tried different ram, taken out the battery, and done everything else i could think of. No dice though, it refuses to boot. The only thing i noticed is that the HDD light keeps blinking, but it's not going anywhere. I'm assuming this is an error light, but i can't find anywhere to tell me what it means.

Hopefully someone with a little more experience could shed some light on my problem.

Thanks in advance

I've replaced my Hdd for a larger Capacity as the old unit died.

When trying to boot and install Vista from my DVD. It does not run to install, yet if I put the DVD into my PC it will auto-run and try to install.

The boot order is Hdd, DVD, USB etc, etc.

Why will it not boot on the Acer yet it will on my PC.

Tried an XP DVD yet that will try to install on my Acer.

any clues as what I can do to make it boot or Re-burn a DVD with some mods.

thanks

My Acer aspire 5552 notebook shut itself down without warning and now it won't boot up. I am getting a blue power light and for a few secs the fan runs then seems to run very slow and I hear the CD drive trying to start but then it stops and I just have a black screen. I've been searching the internet the last few days for a solution but not found one yet . Here's what I have tried .....

* I removed battery and power cord and pressed power button for 30secs.

* I pressed Fn & ESC added power cord then pressed power button. The fan ran faster but still nothing only black screen.

* I've tried updating bios but won't even read the USB stick.

* Tried HDMI cable with TV still nothing.

* tested CMOS battery that's OK.

Are there any other suggestions please or is it unfixable

Many thanks

Hello, Sorry for the delay! 2. Acer will beep two times and not load past acer screen. Two short beeps: CMOS damaged.CMOS checksum error or CMOS battery loss occurs. As you wrote: No, but I checked the voltage of the battery and it seems fine.First I would replace the CMOS battery (certainly CR2032).

Hi TodderzZz, and welcome to Bleeping Computer.

I would suggest wiping the hdd to remove the Windows 7 installation, then install the Vista Business. Windows doesn't like to have an older operating system installed over a newer one.

To wipe the hdd you can use a program like Darik's Boot and Nuke.

Hi

I have an Acer Travelmate 6492 laptop.

I tried to recover my original system, for that I went to eRecovery and choose the option to restore the laptop to the factory settings.

After that it restarted and from there I'm not able to boot.

I have my recovery DVD's. I have already tried to boot with them. Everything goes fine, it installs the system and everything. But when it restarts it just doesn't boot. After the screen that shows the CPU information, etc. I just receive a blank screen nothing else.

I have tried also booting with Ubuntu. Did some lilo stuff to repair the MBR. I have tried booting with Win7 also and tried to repair the MBR but nothing seems to work.

I hope there is someone there who can help me!

A:Issue booting Win 7, booting directly into XP & no boot manager

It sounds like you have the OS's installed on two separate HD's, and were booting them correctly via the BIOS - setting preferred one first to boot in BIOS setup, then booting the other one using the one-time BIOS Boot menu key.

To restart Win7 unplug all other HD's, Mark the 100mb System Reserved (preferred) or Win7 Partition Active then run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times.

Once Win7 starts, plug back in the XP HD and boot it using the Asus F8 one-time BIOS Boot Menu key, or install EasyBCD to Win7 to add XP on its Add OS entry tab.

Windows task manager keeps popping up. It won't close. We tried to set the registry back to an earlier date, but it won't take. My guess is that is a virus. She had AVG anti-virus running now it won't run either. Any thoughts? Any reliable online site which could scan the computer?

The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5742, IntelCore i3-380M
I am attaching a few pictures of what comes on the screen when I turn it on.
Even in safe mode it does not let me log in, it attempts repairs, it fails and then goes to the black screen with the white cursor.
If I try to start windows normally it loads the logo and then goes to the black screen.
Yesterday, in an attempt to do repairs it was replacing invalid security drivers or something like that and it was taking ages so I had to turn it off.
For the last week it took very long to start up, failing to configure windows but it would eventually let me log in.
Since yesterday I am only getting the black screen. it is windows 7 by the way.

- I have a wireless mouse and keyboard being used on that desktop.. Should I perhaps try to plug in a corded mouse and keyboard?
- I'm running on Windows 7 Ultimate.
Thanks

Hi all,
I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 64-Bit (Windows 7 Home Premium) laptop that I bought before the summer, today a Windows Update has given me an Acer display update published on the 28/12/2011. I thought because I had my vga cable plugged into the TV Windows Update may have become confused but despite checking for updates again it still appears there as optional.

AMD/ATI is recognized by Windows and Windows Update and there had already been a display driver update not so long ago, so I cannnot understand why I'm receiving an update for the wrong machine?

A:Acer - Display - ACER S271HL update on Compaq Presario CQ56 64-Bit

Not actually for AMD/ATI almost monthly you can see a newer update become available and that's why you will see one listed as an optional hardware update for the integrated graphic chips on the laptop.

Since Windows detects the tv you are using as an external monitor that also becomes a detected hardware. If that happens to be an Acer brand tv that would explain why that particular update came about.

Hi everyone I'm at my wits end! I cannot get my webcam to work. I have tried numerous options posted in different forums and on websites but nothing seems to work. Even when I went to the Acer update driver search site. When I added my model number I got about a dozen driver options but as soon as I put in my OS Windows 7 (64 Bit) it came back with no drivers. I've noticed in a number of forums that peoples webcams where working fine in Windows XP but when they updated to Windows 7 they lose the ability for their computers to find their webcams. Is this an inherent problem with Windows 7 and is there anyway to fix it short of buying an external webcam. Surly there must be a way to get it to work !!!
Regards Brett.

My system is roughly months old I had used the upgrade software that Acer provided to upgrade from Vista to home premium There was no issues with the install and everything worked great for a month and then it started going in to Acer M3203 Windows software Acer's upgrade and Aspire 7 deep hibernation The only way to wake it was to unplug Acer Aspire M3203 and Acer's Windows 7 upgrade software the power from the tower I did everything I could think of from editing the registry to updating drivers to finally reinstalling everything No go so I packed it up and sent it back to Acer I just got it back from Acer's repair depot They had to replace the motherboard hard drive and fans on the system They performed a factory restore and told me that I was good to go and updating shouldn't be an issue I went to use the upgrade dvd's from Acer and low and behold the hibernation thing started again It took me four attempts to restore it back to factory Now it seems stable running Vista I am in the process up updating the drivers and windows stuff so time will tell Is it me or is Acer systems flakey Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can go about updating to Windows without having to format every week I have tried doing clean installs without going the upgrade path and it still behaves badly Sometimes it won't even turn on Or is it just possible that the pc I purchased just can't handle Windows

A:Acer Aspire M3203 and Acer's Windows 7 upgrade software

Are you booting the Acer Win7 Upgrade Media DVD to do a clean install? You can do that to get the cleanest possible install, without the corruption that is imported from Vista in an in-place Upgrade.

The installer is driver-complete, but afterwards any missing drivers which don't quickly arrive in Optional Windows Updates can be found on the apps/drivers CD along with favorite apps like Works, cam, etc. Others can be found on the Acer Support Downloads webpage for your model computer, Adobe (flash, Reader) and Java (runtime, free Ofc suite) sites.

Recently I purchased a laptop with windows 8 64 bit pre-installed in it. For my job purpose, I needed windows 7 32 bit. After searching the web and also using the information I got from this site, I disabled secure boot, deleted the recovery partition and converted GPT partitions to MBR. Then I shrink the Big partition in which windows 8 was installed to make room for the windows 7 partition. Then I created a new partition and installed windows 7 on it. After this whenever I switch on the computer, a message come up, saying that a required device cannot be found and windows is to be repaired. The only way in which I can start windows is to go to bios, select the boot options and then select boot from notebook hard drive.

Can anybody please tell me how this problem can be solved

A:Booting problem with dual booting with windows 8 and 7

when you created the new partition did you make itin front or behind the existing partition?

If your boot manager is looking to boot Win 8 on Disk 0 Part 1, and you created the new partition in front of Win 8, your Win 7 will now be located on Disk 0 Part 1 which is where the boot manager is expecting Win 8

can you send us a screen cap of your disk management?

Is this normal for a 6 month old machine..? I can't update windows 10. The message says that there's not enough room to update windows 10, so I buy a 32 gig card....still it says theres not enough space,,,so I try a 32gig usb stick....still no joy.....So I take it back to PC World where I'm treated like a child and told that they won't take it back...they'll just send it back to Acer to have windows 8 put on ...??! and did I realise it was a cloudbook and NOT a laptop...!! Left the shop with steam coming out of my ears...so, my question is this....Has anyone out there succeeded in updating their windows 10 cloudbook Because that despite having owned and worked with computers for over 30 years I cannot solve this problem....(Nor have I experienced such poor ill informed salespeople as I have in PC World....but that's another story...

My acer active pen is not working consistently. The screen recognizes it sometimes, and other times it does not. The only way I can get it to recognize is by power cycling the pen (taking the battery out and putting it back in), or by power cycling the laptop. I replaced the battery so I know it is not a battery issue. I have an Acer Aspire R13 (Model #R7-371T), and recently upgraded to Windows 10. I was having this problem earlier with Win 8.1, but it seems to have gotten worse with Windows 10. I have updated to all the most recent drivers. Very frustrating. Any thoughts?

Try booting to Memtest86 you can burn a CD and I think it can also be run from a USB bootable flash drive. This will test your memory for problems and also let you know that the hardware in general will run (except the hard drive which is ignored at this stage. If the memory is good, then boot to your hard drive mfg's utility or Seatools from Seagate (DOS version) the same as Memtest but it tests your hard drive to see if it is just the drive that you cannot install on.If the memory and hard drive tests OK then you may just need to delete all current partitions on the hard drive before trying to install. If the memory does not test good, try cleaning the contacts on the memory with a soft pencil eraser and snapping them in and out 5 or 6 times to also burnish the slot's contacts. Then try memtest again on one stick at a time in case one stick is bad, swap and try again. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Now that I turn it back on it's just stuck on "Acer explore beyond limits" screen. It has been like this for days now. I've tried turning it on and off again several times. It's just stuck at that screen. What do I do? How do I fix this? I need this computer for school.

I finally found a soluation after months of wondering why this is happening. It's my Virgin Media connection, the modem/router as when I connected to my phones wifi, teethering, Acer Care Center instantly updated so something within Virgin Medias network is blocking connectivity. I did try the Virgin Media's router as cause by diabling firewall etc. but with no joy I gave up but didn't try another connection until just now with tethering where as stated problem is sorted. I will report this to Virgin Media and post back anything relevant to this.

Are you trying to download and install Acer Care Center because you lost the recovery partitions? If they are gone, nothing you can download will put them back. You will need to go to the Acer store, click ERECOVERY and purchase restore media.

Hello,

I have an Acer Extensa 5420 computer and the operating system installed is Vista.

I'm having trouble with the Crystal Eye's picture-taking. I turn it on (works just fine) but when I click the "take picture" button, it briefly shows up in the gallery bar underneath and disappears. I can't for the life of me figure out where it is sending them or why they are not staying in the gallery below the pictures like they used to. I can't find any way to adjust or figure out where they are being sent to.

Thanks for any help ,
Sasha

A:Acer Crystal Eye Web Cam for a Acer Extensa 5420

On my Acer, the webcam pics are saved to the Pictures folder in my user account folder.

If they aren't there, I suggest you try re-installing the webcam driver. You can download it from Acer's website. Select the appropriate website for your country here: http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/

I am at a loss being working on my sons computer for days now he moved it rearranging his room and it stopped working When he told me the recovery discs didn t work I found out he had deleted ALL partitions off the hard drive I will try to put down everything we have done so far so that anyone who is able to help will understand what hasn t worked or point out something we missed At this point I will tell you what I know of the computer Specs if need any other info let me know Acer T Windows XP Hard Drive Hitachi Deskstar Model HDS PLA SATA Motherboard MCP SM-AM NO FLOPPY & Harddrive Formatter Acer Acer Disk CD DRIVE I have discs I bought from Acer the bootable CD and the Recovery CD When we put in the Recovery CD it says Error Reading Disk when you hit OK blue screen of death with The windows Logon Process System Terminated unexpectedly with a status Acer Harddrive & Acer Disk Formatter CD of xc x x The system has shut down I have an actual Windows XP professional disk I used to try to restore with got to the partitions screen to see no partitions but the following repeated times where the partitions list usually is Unknown Disk There is no disk in this drive When you exit I get Setupdd sys Page Fault in nonpaged area Stop x xe cf x xf c b x Setupdd sys address f c b base at f b datestamp b d Spoke to Acer told them all the above they said to Burn onto a CD their ISO file called Post Acer Disk Formatter CD ISO Image and to put it in before the recovery disk I tried to slip it in when it asked for the recovery disk but it would just ask for the recovery disk again and ignore this CD I have tried runnig this ISO burn on its own and keep getting Ryformat error type mismatch then it goes to a box screen of asking for a name and reminding me that things will be deleted to make a back up copy I hit next and get the same ryformat error I was reading that for formatting the drive like it seems we are trying to do usually you would use a floppy drive with this ISO file on a disk using the F option during the bootable CD process yet according to Acers site it is to be a CD not a floppy and that option only looks for floppy drives I was going to try to do everything from another computer but none of my other computers support SATA and from what I can tell this computer doesn t have any open connections for another HD Also thought I would try using Nlite but that doesn t recognize either of the Acer disks when so tried the actual XP disk I have but it doesnt recognize the ISO download from Acer to get integrated So this is where I am stuck now and asking for anyone s help on how to get this drive to format I am assuming that s what the ISO file from Acer is to be doing so I can get Windows back on it and keep my kid off my computer nbsp

I have a SONY PC RX- and it is not booting on an erratic basis The first problem was after pushing the start button the fan starts on high speed Booting but process beeping, is not booting but no activity light and no HD light came on at all AFter minutes or so I rebooted after removing the power cord for seconds This happened times today I should mention that during this time nothing comes on screen at all There is no opportunity to get to the CMOS settings or even to boot with a floopy yes this still has a floppy drive in Booting process is beeping, but not booting it Normally for the past several months this problem has simply been an inconvenience and after or tries the unit boots up fine and works fine all day Today when it failed to do this so many times I shut it down opened the case and proceeded to reset all cables and connections I didn t notice any loose connections I didn t remove ram sticks I then rebooted and this time I got the HD light activity for a few seconds then the fan slowed to a normal level as like everything was going to be okay After a few minutes the activity light was still lit but no flickering like something was happening I turned the machine off again I should mention that each time I turned the machine off I didn t have to hold the button in for the normal seconds It turned of immediately I once again inspected and reseated cards I did not remove RAM sticks This time I plugged in and booted and right away got a or second solid warning tone followed by about seconds of silence It repeated and kept going until I turned the unit off again I suspected the power supply but I don t want to replace it until I know for sure Do places test these power supplies or do they just replace them because of the cost of service Any suggestions nbsp

A:Booting process is beeping, but not booting

you a buy a tester tool for $12 and also use a multimeter. I would just replace the darn PSU.

I hope this isn't dumb sounding but I was wondering if Acer would be one of the top 5 laptop manufacturers? I am looking at the Acer Ferrari 4000 laptop for school and I was just wondering. I know that Toshiba is very good but for the price the Ferrari seemed like a great, great deal. Another question I would have is if anyone has the new Acer Ferrari 4000 please post and tell me how you like it. I would really trust to hear something from someone here then at Newegg.

Thanks,
Infinity

A:Acer in Top 5? (Acer Ferrari 4000)

I wouldn't look at the maker to the degree that you are. Acer is a name brand so you should not have any problems. I would concentrate on specs. As for the Ferarri it is a very powerful and good looking notebook, and it got excellent reviews. I would highly recomend the ferarri, it's deffinately going to be my next notebook.

I partitioned hard drive and everything. Then I installed XP Pro and Vista. Then I updated both and whatnot. I was on Vista then I restarted and booted into XP. Now when I try to boot into Vista it gets to the loading screen then it just restarts. I can still boot into XP fine.

Also I have lost all access to my BIOS. Does anybody know how to get that back?

Hi I m hoping I m posting this at the right place if not please move A week ago my girlfriends laptop started giving an error "ACER" laptop Acer screen. stuck on message on boot saying quot No bootable device press any key quot I tried a number of suggestions I found posted online to similar issues but to no avail I didn t want to completely reset the machine since it was still under warranty so I figured if we just submitted it for repair someone might be able to save more of her files However girlfriend lost the warranty receipt We gave up searching today so I went back in to try and reset it I couldn t access the recovery partition of the hdd and gf didn t make a recovery disc So I decided to try a reset using a recovery drive I made from my own Acer laptop which like hers came with win This seemed to work so I let it do it s thing I checked back on it a while later and it was on but when I checked again it was stuck on the quot ACER quot boot screen It was stuck on there for a couple of hours not responding to any key input When I restarted it by holding power button to turn it off first it again got stuck on the Acer screen If I m quick enough I can get into BIOS during boot but not once it s stuck on the acer screen Do you have any ideas what I can do try to get this thing working again Specs Acer Aspire e - Windows HDD Toshiba MQ ABD nbsp

A:Acer laptop stuck on "ACER" screen.

Unless your laptop is the same model as you girlfriend's - or at least from the same laptop series - your recovery disk won't work, mainly because it will try to install the wrong drivers.

I think your best bet is to try to get it fixed under warranty. You may not need the receipt, you can check the laptop's warranty status here :- https://www.acer-apac.com/acer_web/
