hi, i have a laptop lenovo T410 that run on window xp.
After running the window, i am prompted to log in but i forgot the password.
So what must i do. How do i reset the laptop to its original factory setting.
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
All your files will be lost. Do you want to recover them first?
Do you know the Administrator password?
Do you have a blue button above the keyboard?
I have an old Toshiba laptop and it is unusable and I was wondering if there was a way to factory reset it without a disk.

I believe there's a partition that contains the OEM setup, but you need a CD (any) and to recover from the Restore partition
Lenovo's VP of Design, David Hill, wants to create a new ThinkPad laptop that is heavily inspired by the old-school designs of popular ThinkPad laptops from the IBM era, stretching as far back as 1992.
I used to use one of those old IBM Thinkpad laptops at around that time and I thought it was the coolest thing ever even if it was terribly slow, weighed almost a ton, had a crappy pixelated display (~2ppi it seemed) and was about a metre thick. I loved it.
Lenovo is the latest PC maker to join the budding PC-on-a-stick movement. The company on Tuesday announced the Ideacentre Stick 300, a wallet-friendly compute stick suitable for use in multiple scenarios.
It's too bad HDMI couldn't supply the power.
My lenovo A850 cant switch off airplane mode. why?
Question: Is there is a physical wireless switch? If it's set to Off, you won't be able to turn off Airplane mode.
So set the wireless switch to On and the option to turn off Airplane mode should be available. Does this work for you?
Hey! I've been debating on wether I should buy the Lenovo Y50-70 (59427681)
or the ASUS N551JM-CN095H .
I'm looking to buy today, so I'd appreciate quick replies
Main difference is that the Lenovo has Hybrid Memory with 8 GB SSD cache, but it only has 100 mb LAN network speed, compared to Asus' 1000 mb speed.
The price of the Lenovo : 903 USD
The price of the Asus : 967 USD
Here I will give you the link so you can compare these two against eachother. It's in norwegian, but it shouldn't be a problem
What do you want your laptop to do?
One fine evening while watching a movie, my laptop stopped responding and in frustration I switched off the laptop by holding the power button long enough to turn off. Next Morning it showed a blue screen and a message to recover my windows, which I failed to do and by the afternoon this message showed up. Detection Error on HDD0 (main HDD) and hence forth I've been unable to install windows from a USB drive since ( and I suppose) it is not able to read my HDD. I do not care about my data at all, I just want my laptop up and running. If I can have the data back it will be perfect otherwise I don't mind not getting my data back. I know for a fact that my Hard disk is fine because I went into command prompt, diskpart , and list disk, and saw the status of HDD as healthy, this is after the error (detection error on HDD). SO my question is: Why this error? IS there a problem in the motherboard? Why the error shows once and then doesn't show the next time and then comes up again.
The error might be bad sectors, but I'm not sure. if my guessing is correct, you might have to get a new drive to replace. also you need to reinstall OS
Hello I need to connect power/reset buttons to dell optiplex 620, but I just can't connect them anywhere on motherboard.

Hi my name is Rafael of Brazil, rode a computer gamer very good, the settings I put down. My CPU is theoretically very good, but I can not play with it, the cooler that comes with the processor does not maintains the temperature when the BF 4 game with full graphics of 50 fps, but a few minutes later he shuts down and restarts in the middle of the game I think the manufacturing cooler's fault, because he goes from 100 degrees (HWMonitor), I will put an exhaust fan and I'm thinking about changing the cooler, am among the Hyper 212 EVO and H60. What would be better to cool off without the need for overclocking.
I would like someone to help me, which of these coolers is better. Hyper 212 EVO or H60?
I installed Win 7 32 bit on my Lenovo G519 laptop. Now I want to use my wireless Internet but can't find the way I can turn on that laptop!!
I tried Fn+F5 and also F5 but it's still turned off.
How to turn on wireless in that laptop please?
Do you see any yellow (!) in the device manager?

Quick question and I believe the answer is NO. If you have a PC with one drive where OS is already running and configured, can you add another identical drive and configure RAID 1 without having to reinstall or reformat anything?
Hey there, pioneerx01!
Unfortunately, you can't convert a single drive into a RAID array without data loss. At least one sector will be overwritten, which will cause problems because the file system and partition information will not be correct anymore. This will lead to a lot of annoying notifications and very unpleasant problems.
However, I believe there's a chance to create RAID arrays while keeping the data but I'd strongly advise against it.
The best way to deal with this is the safe way - back up your data and properly create the RAID 1 array.
Hope this helps.
OK I am trying to set up a 6 monitor eyefinity setup using two r9 290x GPU. I want to cross fire the GPU s and then plug 3 of the monitors into 3 of the 4 ports that are on the GPU and then plug the other 3 in via a port hub utilizing the last plug in on the gpu. My knowledge is limited so I have questions regarding this method. For one would this even work? 2. Would I be able to max out most games using this method? 3. Is there an easier way to do this?

Let me put it this way, it can work as stated on AMD's website using a multi DP output hub.
To answer the second question though is a no you would not most likely be able to max out most games in this methodology. You will probably be able to run a game like Tomb Raider for instance at high settings but maxing out with 6 displays is pushing it.
The easiest way to do this is the only way...Basically buy the 3 way DP hub, hook up your monitors with adapters to whatever output method your choosing, then hookup the rest.
Hello, yesterday I was using my computer and I shut it off. When I came back a few hours later, the wifi couldn't connect, and, unlike most times life this, it displayed an ethernet symbol with a red 'x' opposed to the normal wireless symbol with an 'x'. My computer stopped connecting to any wireless, though works fine with ethernet.
It is a Lenovo Ideapad with Windows 8
I've tried rebooting (I'm clueless, but not that clueless), updating the OS, uninstalling and reinstalling the computer's drivers along with some more far-fetched stuff (I got desperate) such as removing the battery, waiting a few hours, and plugging it back in, but nothing has worked.
If anyone can help, that would be amazing, thanks!
Seems your WIFI adapter is being disabled. try enabling the device in your device manager or with the Fn+function key provided in your laptop.Click to expand...
That doesn't seem to be the problem, the adapter is enabled and the computer is not in airplane mode
I have an ASUS MeMO Pad 7 inch non HD keep that in mind total different situation. But I cannot Factory Hard Reset it by using any normal button combinations or reset button. I have done a lot of research but have come up empty. The reasoning behind the need to perform factory reset is the number pin to log in was forgotten. Yea, yea I know I should not use it but it happened so non the less any ideas?
So you can't get to the factory reset menu? Holding the power button will turn the tablet off right?

This is a good review to take a look at for your consideration:
I don't know anyone who owns the or Lenovo phones in general so I can personally say much. However, reading the specs and online reviews, its a decent phone with some decent specs (Has a quad core processor inside) so it cant be too bad. A lot of reviewers say its a good phone, but I cant tell you from experience, hope this helps.
A colleague at work would like to set up either a SHN or a SBN. What is the best way to go about this? Would it be best to be safe to be cloud based? What equipment is needed etc...?
This will take some discussing, so please ask any questions you need. The intention would be for two/three people to access the information on the network initially. A printer will be shared on the network, allowing scan to email. Laptops would be used to access the network from external sites, this is why I'm thinking of going the cloud based route, so they can log on and access the server from anywhere in the world...
Any help/guidance is appreciated.
Yes, you can consider the Cloud as a solution for access, BUT . . .
it also brings with it issues like:
You should start reading about these issues before committing to this solution.
One alternative would be a NAS device connected to your router. Putting your modem, router and NAS on a UPS power system would allow (with proper configuration) external access and you have total control, of all of the issues above.

A strange problem indeed.
Triple check your wiring is correct using your motherboard manual. Be sure the motherboard is mounted correctly on the standoffs and no grounds are occurring.
Faulty buttons on the case itself?
Reset bios to optimal defaults, clear cmos.
After that I would return the mobo.
Sorry I cant be more specific, Hope this helps.
Hi, I recently bought a new laptop from other country, its brand new. Lenovo c580 with 6gb ram and 1tb hard drive. when I click on Start button, nothing happens, the laptop doesn't start. I tried to charge it, but still no luck. I can see battery is charging but it doesn't start
Sorry its lenovo g580
Problem began a few weeks ago with the lap turn not shutting down...would only go to hibernate... now I can't run any virus software or malware software both of which are installed on hard drive, it gives me a message that foxfire is running and I need to close it but it won't allow me to close anything...even loaded malware on external hd and tried to run it from there but the computer won't open it up...
What OS (Operating System) are you using? To shutdown firefox, right click the taskbar & on the menu that pops up left click Start Task Manager & go to the Processes Tab,find firefox, highlight it & click End process. You might get a pop up asking you to confirm it,click yes & X out of Task Manager.
You need to install Malwarebytes on the harddrive. Once its installed, update it & run a (full) scan.
I am pretty much a novice with regards to networking. We recently built a new house and have wired it with cat 5e wire. I want to share my windstream internet connection over the network as well as be able to share files and use a drobo storage unit. I have a windstream router an a gigabit network switch. Will connecting a direct wire from the modem to the switch allow all the computers to gain access to the internet.
Correct - - everything attach to the router or a switch hung off of it will be "in the same subnet" as there is only one router. Wifi and wired will look the same to all users and everyone can "play" at the same time
I need help to set up fans because I'm new with this. My motherboard is Biostar a780l3l and has a SYS_FAN1. Do I put one fan there? Do I need just one fan or more? My case has 3 spots to put fans on, 2 on the side and one from behind.
Or do I put one fan in the motherboard and other 2 in the PSU?
If I only need one fan do I put it in the motherboard or PSU?
I'll upload my dxdiag just in case.
It does not really matter how or where you hook fans up unless you want to be able to control the speeds via the motherboard or if the fans have built in fan controllers (Like switches on them for high and low).
The only spot you definintly need hooked up (Unless your using a fan controller) is the CPU fan one since im assuming your not using a fan controller. IMO, you should hook up to the motherboard because the system will decide on fan speeds for you.

Before you leap into using your cell as an Internet connection,
make sure you understand the charges for DATA for your cell phone provider - -
it can be 100s of dollars per hour!
So recently my machine has been in my backpack travelling with me due few reasons. When I came home today and mounted it all up again, one of my HDDs became RAW system and I am unable to access it. Now Windows keeps insisting that I should format the drive but I really need to preserve most of the saved data.
Iv downloaded TestDisk but have no idea how to use it.
Is there a way to at least recover my files? I really need to get another backup drive to have my important work saved on.
Using Windows 7 x64 Pro.
Shall I let Windows format the drive? Would this make me loose all my data?
Hi guys hope every things good there, im fine but im facing some issues with my lenovo z580 it started 2 days ago, the laptop just don't go into sleep mode when I close the lid I removed the power management software, reinstalled but nothing the problem remains does anyone faced the same or similar issue before? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
What power management software did you remove? You can't remove the windows power management features.
My fullscreen monitor died and I had to buy a monitor new on trouble resolution Having setting widescreen new monitor which unfortunately ended up being a widescreen because it s all that s available now Having trouble setting resolution on new widescreen monitor Now I m having trouble setting the resolution on it The resolution I ve been using on my fullscreen monitor was x and the way things looked at this res was PERFECT for me The resolution itself looks OK on the widescreen apart from all objects appearing stretched since that resolution is really for a fullscreen ratio Having trouble setting resolution on new widescreen monitor So I increased the resolution but no Having trouble setting resolution on new widescreen monitor matter which setting I choose everything looks somewhat blurry This goes for pretty much all the ones available x x x x x x x It s not until I get to the absolute highest resolution x where things appear sharp and also in porportion Unfortunately everything on the screen is waaaaay too small I know I can increase the size of icons fonts etc but everything else appears too small too like images functions inside software etc So I set the resolution back to x where everything appears in the size I like them and I was going to change the screen size on the monitors OSD settings shrinking the screen horizontally which I imagined would give me accurate porportions I don t mind that I would get two black bars on the sides if that is what it takes but when I try the OSD system ironically skips over the size position settings go figure the highlight just literally just jumps from Brightness down to Color settings all the ones having to do with screen size and position are greyed out So please can someone help me out I want - Things to appear in their accurate porportions - Be the same size as they are in x resolution That goes for EVERYTHING not just fonts and icons for example I want movies to play in that resolution I want pictures to be displayed that large when I open them and so on if the only way to do this on a widescreen monitor is by having black bars on the sides then so be it just tell me how I can get to those settings since they re not selectable on my new Dell monitor Please try to stick to helping me on what my dilemma is not ask quot why do you want to do that quot etc This is the resolution I am used to and I can t work as efficiently in this horrible x setting when everything is so tiny I would really appriciate any tips Thanks for reading nbsp
Hmm; focus on getting the SYSTEM to display correctly first and then fuss with videos last.
My laptop is running at 1366-768 (recommended) for my wide screen display. I would presume your list of resolutions shown do not include 1366-768 (that's dependent upon the video driver + the monitor), so first attempt to get an updated driver for your video adaptor.
Interesting question: I'm a PC tech that often provides on-site service. Sometimes I need to hook up two PC's at once but the customer only has one monitor.
I have a portable 7" digital TV. Very handy. It sure would be great if I could bring it with me on jobs and hook a PC up to it. Using an adapter, I can plug a VGA cable into the 1/4" "Video In" plug on the side, but the resolution is only 480x234 and I don't think Windows can support such a low resolution natively.
Anyone know of a way I can make this idea work?
I have tried it before with a monitor in a vehicle...same idea like yours. no success.
I sold my desktop a few days ago,and was looking for a laptop to go with mainly for gaming and and recording music.
I was looking at the Z580 Lenovo laptop http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834310630
It's pretty much sold me at this point, but maybe some of you know of a better deal with more performance in that same price range of 575$... I might do 700$ but it will have to dust the Z580 for me to pay out 125 $ more.
So will the Z580 i5 GT635m be my bang for my buck,or do you guys know of a better deal ?.
Also let's say later on I wanted to upgrade the GPU,and the HDD could I do that ?. Could I upgrade to a SSD ?. etc.
Thank you all are always a huge help !.
Hey all, been a while since I last built a system, and never done one with an SSD.
I'm assuming the SSD is basically my C drive where I will install the OS, plus any games I want to run quickly, then everything else on my D drive (just a regular HDD).
Sound about right?
Right. and don't forget to turn off some things like defragmentation, indexing and prefetch in windows. those are designed for hdd.
Hello, I think I'm experiencing a NAT networking problem, as most games I play complain that my NAT is moderate, or sometimes strict. I've researched this and found out it may be a Double NAT problem.
I've also researched two solutions for this: Disable NAT and DCHP on either the modem or router, or set up a PPPoE connection between the two. Can someone tell me which one is the easiest to do and how to do it?
Router: Linksys E3200 w/ Cisco
Modem: Motorola SB5102
Other Info: This IS a broadband connection, and I believe it is a DSL or Cable setup. I also know how to access the router settings, and how to disable NAT and DCHP. However, I do not know how to connect to the modem (I do know the default IP for it) and don't know how to perform a PPPoE connection, as this would be my first time.
PPPoE is for DSL connections... Go to the router and modem websites and download the instructions from there. It will explain how to connect and access the router
Hi everyone, I have a Lenovo T61 laptop with 1GB of RAM.
I'm looking to upgrade this to 2GB or 4GB as I am running windows Vista on it.
I believe that it has 2 DDR-2 667 RAM slots, becaus CPUz says that it's running in dual channel mode but I'm not sure, and don't know how to find out.
Thanks for reading
Have you tried the Crucial website? That will generally tell you.
I have a 16gb (4x4gb) kit of GSKill Ripjaws Z arriving tomorrow and need to enter the timings manually for them to work properly on my P9X79 Pro motherboard. How do I go about doing this?
The kit is rated for 1.50v at 9-9-9-24. Do I have to enter correct BCLCK and CPU ratio values, as well? Pretty much everything is on auto default right now with my DDR3 1333 RAM kit.
I've attached a snapshot. I'm not sure it'll help, but then this is just about all I know of the BIOS. I'm a total noob and haven't done much exploration. Here's some info on the RAM kit:
Can anyone out there please help me?
Under "memory frequency" you should see a list of speeds you can select, these correspond to the various FSB/RAM ratios. Pick the one that's suitable for your RAM. If you scroll down you should see the DRAM voltage and timings, just type in the values.
Not sure about SB-E but for SB the BCLK doesn't budge... not even by a few Mhz so you're better off leaving that alone at 100Mhz and using the CPU multiplier to overclock that 3930K. So to run your RAM at its rated 1600Mhz your FSB/RAM ratio would be 1:16.
I've decided on upgrading to a water cooling system for my CPU, and two GPU's (most probably a set of 680's), curently have two 560 Ti's, and a i5-2500k CPU
I'm not sure a dual loop is the best solution or a single loop with two radiators and a decent pump. EKWB have some pretty decent stuff so I'll be getting most components from them.
I've done a quick picture of the setup I was thinking of for a single loop. I'll be setting it up in either a Corsair 800d or 650d case, with the 800d obviously having different radiators.
Anyone know if this is a good way to go for a setup like this?
You need a pump with a good amount of head pressure for a single loop of this kind.
Oh and larger rad for gpus pls. Other than that this setup is fine.
i am unable to reset my router back to default username/password setting.ive been able to reset it in the past, but i cant remember what i did.
i have held the reset button down for 90 secs. then i unplugged the router while still holding down the reset button for an additional 90 secs. and finally plugged the power back in again still holding the reset button for an additional 90 secs.
ive tried switching between different web browser. default gateway is 188.8.131.52
tried using cmd prompt. used ipconfig /release. ipconfig /renew. just for the heck of it.
ive also read that this same model and version is giving alot of people trouble as far as resetting it goes.
honestly, im not sure what firmware i have installed. im not sure how to check it... if that may be the issue.
while trying to login to router via firefox, i get the security level 15 message
cant remember my username/password
Sounds like your router needs a hard reset, the following has helped me in some cases, but be aware, if these procedures don't work, than your router has gone bye bye, it's junk.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
5) Power down the router.
6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If there's some time left on any type or warrenty for this device, I would recommend using it, that is if in fact your router is dead.
Good luck.............hope this helps!
I am buying new laptop and i have two choices in my budget. Dell Inspiron N5110 (15R) and Lenovo Essential B570. Both have i3 Sandy Bridge. Which one you think is better ???? Any suggestions
So what did you decide on?
Restored laptop (Acer Aspire 5735, OS Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit) to factory settings a few months ago and noticed that there was a lot of space being used up on C: drive even though I hadn't started installing programs and putting files back on to laptop.
Used SpaceSniffer to see where all the space was being used up and it only found the C: drive to have size of 38.1GB even though it should have 69.6GB. Also ran WinDirStat and that also said C: drive had size 38.1GB.
Any suggestions on why there seems to be 31.5GB missing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
"it should have 69.6GB"...
Is the drive 80GB unformatted? Did you format the drive when starting the restore? This is known as a "destructive" restore. If you didn't, it is possible that the old Vista files are still on the drive, along with the new files, taking up the space
I have a Thinkpad T61. My laptop says it's connected to the internet (wireless) but when I open up anything that uses the internet, there's no connection. For the 'activity,' it says 8 packets have been sent and 8 have been received. The number is very very slowly growing. Ethernet doesn't work either.
Also, I'm not sure if these help, but:
1. I got a virus a week ago (XP Security 2012 virus) and since then, the internet hasn't worked.
2. The icon for wireless isn't showing in the bottom right of the blue toolbar at the bottom of my screen.
Any ideas? Please help.
First suggestion; delete the wireless show in View Network Connections
and wire a direct connection from the system-->router.
Begin there to diagnose / document what is occuring.
a) please document
Os System(xp,vista, windows), edition(basic,home,pro,...) and SP level
Your wiring layout
your router make & model number
the browser / version you are using
and name the firewall that is active
the name/version of your antivirus program
b) if you are on Vista or Win/7
google for "disable ipv6"
apply the FixIt for your system (ie disable all)
c) when the system fails to connect do this:
enter IPCONFIG /all >myTCP.txt
the come back here and attach the myTCP.txt file to your follow-up

Is it new? Does it still have a warranty? If it still has a warranty, take it back so you don't void the warranty.

When in safe mode, Windows is not using the graphics card driver. While it is in safe mode the graphics card is still being used. If it wasn't, you wouldn't get any display at all.
Download the current AMD/ATI graphics driver that is compatible with your operating system. Then uninstall the old graphics driver from Add and Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Vista and Windows 7). Install the new driver and see if that fixes your problem.
Go here for your driver: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

To ensure all PCs see the webserver at the same address (regardless of the boot sequence),
give the webserver a static IP address.
I need advice on the easiest setup for our new home in Fla.
Cable company in Comcast and phone is AT&T.
We will have cable for the TV's and use the phone line for a DSL connection, because it's alot cheaper.
Keep in mind this is a weekend vacation home.
I currently have a laptop, but I will be purchasing a I-Pad because we only really use the web for casual browsing, downloading boarding passes for airlines and making restuarant and golf reservations.
I would like to do wi-fi. I am a total noob at this wi-fi stuff. I'd like to be able to use the I-pad anywhere in/outside the house rather than hard wiring it, like my current computer.
So....what do you all suggest?
thanks in advance for any help!!!
Your phone company can help you with this... You need a Wireless DSL router, that's all, and follow the setup instructions

I am very very frustrated since I waited a while to get this motherboard from china. My last DFI board randomly died on me and I ordered this as a replacement because I wanted a decent 775 board. I worked on it all night tonight and despite it reading all the hardware... it will not boot unless I reset the cmos every time. On top of that... I can not get the bios to update... it doesn't read any of the 5 usb drives I tried (fat/fat32). Also I tend to get this grey screen when trying to flash it sometimes. I am beside myself at this point after fussing with it for hours on end and I really need some help.
Sounds like either the BIOS is corrupted or the motherboard battery is a goner.
Have you tried burning the new BIOS to a bootable CD ?
my fan speed is not displayed in BIOS
and i cannot my save my configurations
my motherboard is DG33TL Intel Motherboard
have u tried pressing F10 to save it?
I've been considering getting a Lenovo Thinkapd X120e to replace my old laptop. Need a lightweight laptop with good battery life for my classes. After looking over a couple reviews, I noted a sizable difference in what was reported for the laptop's temperatures. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the X120e getting "too hot"?
FYI: I won't be stressing the laptop much, mostly note-taking using Word or PowerPoint. Also some web surfing, video watching, or very light gaming if the class is particularly dull.
Specs: Planning on upgrading to the 1.6 GHz E-350, 320 GB 7200 rpm HDD, 4 GB of DDR3-1333, and 6-cell battery. Laptop comes with Windows 7 Pro, and I plan to add Ubuntu to it.
Any comments would be great, thanks!
Excellent choice in a Netbook especially with what you want to do; your upgrades are right on. I personally don't have one (but am leaning towards purchasing one in early 2012) but I am also a member of Notebookreview.com (NBR) and there are many people there who own this system. Check out the Lenovo forum at NBR.
Also, check out TechSpot's own reviews of laptops/netbooks. We give it high marks as well and after doing my own research I have found Lenovo has the best build with the E-350.

The battery contacts could be corroded by the spilled water. It takes time for this corrosion to develop so that's why the time that the laptop worked. The water could have affected other internal circuits too over time. The laptop needs to be opened up and inspected
I have windows 7 starter. I have Realtek High Definition Audio. When I try to set it up my Mic and messed up. Now it does not show I have the ability to set up mic. It erased my mic abilities. How can I change this? All I did is put it to disable mic. Now it will not allow to enable it. Because when I unplug the mic/headset it screached through my speaker.
Have you tried to reinstall your audio drivers from the OEM website yet?

Partitions on an external HDD
Hi. The Seagate software already on the drive will ask you to register it with them, you don't have to, of course.
To create the partitions you want, you can use the free version of 'Partition manager' by 'Easus';- see... http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm
Hi all Last year I bought Lenovo problems a circa vintage HP Lenvo dual core I was enjoying it for about months when one evening it just halted as in powered off in the middle of everything Now I like this machine a lot despite it s short time in my company I first suspected the power supply but that powers up just fine if much can be read into that I put another hard drive in took out the processor and cleaned the contacts with isopropyl alchohol etc The Lenovo problems bottom line is when I switch it on the monitor displays power save mode and then repeatedly goes in an out of it What I mean by out is that the screen stays black but the green light comes on and then turns orange again The USB ports still recognise stuff at the front for a split second the CD seeks the drive light comes on Having read various threads I went and had a look at the motherboard and a few of the components look like the heads have domed a little but it s hard to tell if they were like that already I really need a dual core and most of the stuff for sale nd hand comes with gig of Ram which is below what I need this machine has I can t afford to buy new I guess unless there s something really indicative in what I ve posted I ll be giving up on it As I said I do like the machine and thought I would run it by you guys in case there s something I m missing Thanks in advance Tony nbsp
Two things: Is it HP or Lenovo?
Second, those "domed" capacitors sounds like they are bad capacitors and if so are most likely leading to your issues. Now they can be replaced but it takes working knowledge on how to do it let alone finding the capacitors in the first place. You might find someone who will do it for you but the $ might not be worth it.
I put a password on my bios page and can't remeber what it was. (was kinda drunk at the time) I have W3506 2.5Gig celron radeon200expres motherboard. Does anyone know how I can reset the password so I can reset to factory default? EMACHINES wants $100 to answer this question, WTF?, Oh forgot OS is XP sp3.
OS doesn't matter, since BIOS is actually running underneath it. I can't help you past that, though.
I have a Lenovo Idea Center K300 Computer with Windows 7 and 1 TB. Hard Drive It has 4 memory slots 2 are filled with 2.00 GB of memory for a total of 4.00 GB of memory. I plan on filling the 2 empty slots. Bringing my Memory up to 8.00 GB Iv'e done the research,so I know which ones are compatible . Can anyone tell me what kind of improvement I will have.. Faster downloads? Videos wont buffer for ever and ever? Just any kind of improvement I will notice Thanks CB
Not much I would think, depending on what you're doing.
Might even be a waste if you're on 32 bit.

DON'T - - Even Microsoft does not like that option - - the boot drive should not be Raid-X says MS.
hi gang i am looking at a lenovo R500
the problem is it will start to boot get to the thinkpad screen and that is it.
i tried changing the ram
i took out the main battery and tried just booting from the AC
i cant get into the bios
First thing I would test is the hard drive, but as you cannot get into the Bios to change the boot order you will have to remove the drive and link it up to a desktop PC using a "Laptop Hard Drive Adapter". Then you can download the diagnostics for Windows from the manufacturers site listed below.
Have you tried to boot from the OS disc? Do you have Recovery Discs?

Sir, just set your monitor to its default settings. locate the monitor menu button at the front, below or side or your monitor.
I replaced the Perc5 Batt and from a previous call to DELL, I was told the RAID controller needed to be reset after disconnecting the 4 drives and restarting.
Anyone know the proper procedure? I'm told the 00 drive can restore the controller when it is reconnected again. True?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise. As someone who makes a living by the hour, I appreciate you spending some of your valuable time with me.

If there is a downloadable Windows based bios flashing utility from Lenovo for your model laptop you should be able to use it to flash the bios without much trouble, regardless of the Windows version installed. Don't worry about having no battery installed. Bios flashing should never be done on battery power alone. If the laptop can boot from the CD/DVD you could flash the bios using a CD/DVD image. You will also have an option to back up the current bios to a file. If the bios flashing fails, the laptop may be rendered useless, so no recovery can be attempted

First thought is it sounds as if the 'left-click' is sticking or repeating very fast.
Does the same effect happen if you use the touch pad or a plugged-in USB mouse?
Can you go into Control panel, hardware, devices and printers, mouse, 'Pointer options' tab. Set the 'Set pointer speed' in the centre of the scale.
Then untick the box 'Enhance pointer precision'
In the 'Buttons' tab, click 'Restore defaults'
See if that makes any difference.
I guess yo bios needs upgrading to be able to read you processor speeds.
Try that, but make sure u get the software from the manufacturer's website...
Need some help as am learning how to fix things.
Am trying to restablish an older computer after its original motherboard had problems. I purchased a 2nd hand board (details below), and am having problems with its display. Fans are spinning, power is working etc, but no visual response. No beeping can be heard.
I havent bothered putting in the hard drive yet, its blank, and unused anyway, and im trying to establish whether the basics will work. E.g. Booting into BIOS options.
The screen does not respond, and I have now tried 3 different screens to double check. The Motherboard has built in graphics, so to test if the built in card is shagged, I plugged a working graphics card in and still nothing.
CPU - AMD Anthlon 64bit
MB - MSI K9NBPM2-FID (contains inbuilt Graphics card)
GC - Geoforce 7600 GT
RAM - DDR 2
So you are trying to test your pc in a basic state, to prove the motherboard is stable.
If the m'board has built-in (integrated) graphics, normally a good guide to that, is the blue VGA socket on the board. To be sure the pc is using that output, the usual way is to;
1) Enable integrated graphic option in the BIOS, and;
2) Remove any graphic cards from either AGP or PCI-E slots.
That should force the pc to use the integrated graphics, via the VGA socket.
Hope that helps.

We just had a nice line of storms come through a few weeks ago.
I was extremely busy replacing motherboard and PSU combos on various customer computers, mind you after having fixed them, I STRONGLY recommended they buy a decent surge protector.
Turns out all but one were running straight out the wall.
I've come across one scenario where the motherboard survived a PSU failure, luckily for me that was mine about a month ago.
Generally a PSU fails, it takes the motherboard with it, if you have any other motherboard that will jive with your hardware, swap it out.

Windows 7 has installed a generic driver for the card. You need to go the cards manufacturers site and download the correct driver for windows 7. Then unistall the card in Device Manager and then install the new driver.
My internet was working fine, i thought it was the cat5 cable came loose but no cause i can connect on the network and transfer files and what things.. my other computer connects to the internet just fine..
I use firefox and my proxy settings were changed, so under configure proxies to access the internet, i checked No proxy, since that is the default option when i don't use a proxy but after clicking ok, ok and restarting
Nothing changed and now I don't know what to do to restore the connection.
I'm going to have this moved to the Storage and Networking forum where your previous thread was posted.
Ok so his power turned off randomly in his house because of some faulty kitchen appliance.
His computer started in safe mode and he thought it was broken so he started messing with services/startup.
Now he has no internet because in the network connections folder it says windows can't display any adapters and he doesn't know what he's done.
His internet in the house is still working because he has access on his blackberry it's just purely the access on his computer.
I'm nowhere near him and I'm on W7 not XP like he is and I can't really fix his problem but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about what he might have done?
In services I told him to check that Network Connections 'Netman' service was on but don't know what else to say.
Thanks for any help you can provide guys!
Try System Restore to a point before the power problem. If that doesn't help, try uninstalling the old LAN/NIC driver through Add or Remove Programs and installing a fresh new one.
May i know the following hardware can functioning well?
Motherboard: Asus P7H55-M
CPU : Intel Pentium Core i3 540
graphic card: ATI HD5450
PSU : Elite360 (400W)
RAM : 2 GB of DDR3
The mobo, CPU, and graphics card should all work well together.
For the mobo though, I think you should consider getting one with UBS 3.0 built in to speed up doing quick USB backups and other USB functrions.
The HD5450 is a good HTPC card for its price range and is recommended at that price here:
But note its poor performance for gaming - even for light gaming. What are your intended uses?
The power supply I could find little about, but know it is not a strong brand. Power supplies are not a place to scrimp on a system - keep in mind that it is the electricity powering the whole system - like buying a nice car with a great style, a nice interior, good drive train and handling, then skimping on the engine.
400 watt is more than enough to power your system and allow for a little expansion later - but not a real serious gaming video card. This Antec Basiq BP430 430W at $30 after rebate would be acceptable:
Although the Antec Earthwatts Green 430w at $45 after rebate would be better:
Both will still allow only a limited video card upgrade later. They will allow a step up to a decent mainstream gaming card but not a powerful gaming card. To keep that option open you need to move up to a 500w or greater PSU.
For only a little more, $50 after rebate and $6 shipping, you could get this excellent 500w PSU:
CORSAIR Builder Series CMPSU-500CX 500W
For the memory, you need to identify the make and model to receive a review of it. Some DDR3 will work in your system and some will not.
With HD Tune Pro it shows
C7 CRC DATA ERROR it says warning.
When I use HD Sentinel it shows those errors but says ok and all it 100 percent no warning.
My COCD is bothering me with how HD Tune says warning.
IS there any way I can reset or clear that value so hd tune will say ok instead of warning. Thanks a lot
This is my first post here so please be kind!
The keyboard of my Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop has developed a fault. It uses XP Pro
A few keys have started to map to the wrong letters
't' is displayed as 'tb'
'y' as 'yn'
'b' as 'tb' and
'n' as 'yn'
This is both in lower and upper case and affects all software including at the Dos prompt. All the other letters are OK
'Backspace' deletes 1 character but leaves the cursor in its original position
'Space' does nothing at all unless it is held down and then I get repeated spaces with no carriage return! This is also the same effect when holding down the Backspace.
Any ideas on what is wrong and how I can get back to the original correct mappings?
Has anything happen to the keyboard lately? Anything split in it, left in a humid area. Anything like that?
Hi I am seeking some assistance or advice with the above problem. Prior to resetting this laptop (Acer Aspire3680) the bluetooth dvice was fully functional but now it does not ppear as an option in the control panel nor do I see a device icon on the bottom left of the screen. thelaptop has a bluetooth toggle switch but when this is filcked a pop up sign flashes on the bottom of the screen "No Device" Can anyone advise on this matter please? Regards Keith
Prior to resetiing? You mean you used the options to restore to factory condition? Then you almost certainly just need to re-install the driver for the blue-tooth device. Read the manual, or the website support for the laptop, where you will also find the necessary driver if you cant find it on the HDD or CD's that came with the PC
I am presently researching to purchase a laptop for my wife at Christmas who is a teacher thus she will need to access the internet, do Office work, grading, emails, research, etc., but no gaming at all.
Will be running 7 64 OS, with 4 gigs of RAM, and hopefully a 7200 rpm hd. Leaning towards the i5 processor.
The Thinkpad Edge is part of Lenovo's excellent T Series but somewhat less expensive. Looking at current configurations it seems it will deliver what I am looking for but I know nothing of the quality build.
Would love to hear back from people who have used this series and/or from ITs who repair laptops for their insights.
Hard to say not knowing the exact model number.
Hello everyone, my name is Atai and I have a question about my netbook. Last year i bought Lenovo S 10-2 and was happy with it but recently it broke down and wouldn't start. I have a warranty and would like to send it to be repared.
I have credit card information, personal e mail exchanges as well as family photos on the computer however and would rather repairmen couldn't go through my content.
My friend took out the hard disk but I remember that Windows 7 or One Key Recovery program was on separate drive that also contains personal information.
Does S 10-2 have one 160 GB hard disk that contains 2 partitions (one for storage and other for Windows 7 and OKR) or does it have one 160 GB hard disk + separate storage medium for Windows 7?
In other words, am I removing all personal content from the netbook by taking out the 160 GB hard disk?
Thanks for your help,
It has a single Western Digital 160GB notebook hard drive, that may contain more than one partition. Usually there is a Windows partition and a separate system recovery partition. You can remove this hard drive, send the net-book in for service and reinstall the hard drive when you get the net-book back, if the drive itself was not the problem and the net-book should boot normally with all your files intact

Hello Everyone !
I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 0768FGG model. I'm facing a problem when I press any key on the keyboard any device connected to USB port disconnects and reconnects. This is really frustrating I've been searching for the solution on the internet for quite some time and I came across this board. So please can anyone help me with this problem? It will be a great help if anyone can advise a solution..... Thanks
a bios upgrade will fix this issue. Check for a bios update from Lenovo support
Laptop computer brand, what is better.
Dell, Lenovo, or Asus?
lets look at it in general.
thanks a lot.
I prefer Toshiba
Ok in nutshell.. 4 computers on same workgroup, all running windows 7. A neighbor is connected on network as well, but I do not want the neighbor to see any of the files on the other 4 computers without preventing them from internet access. In addition, the 4 computers are part of a business and require file and print sharing. I'm a little confused as well- I thought that being on a separate workgroup would prevent neighbor from seeing the files, but for whatever reason they are showing up in network. What are some solutions? Many Thanks!
Make it where you have to use a user name and password to get into the shared folders. if you dont know how to do this, go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\HomeGroup, click Advanced sharing settings and turn off Public Folder Sharing and turn on Password Protected Sharing. do this on all 4 of your computers that are part of the business.
it started when i removed some malware then after i reboot my pc shows a x or something like that when i unistall video serious Lenovo driver trouble my video adapters my monitor became normal again with a resolution of x and when i use driver easy i download my Mobile Intel series express family my monitor goes back to x now every time i download my video drivers it just goes back to my ugly resolution how can i fix this problem is this problem something connected with my WARCRAFT because my warcraft say s quot unavailable to initialize quot because of my direct x im using direct x and when i run dxdiag my directx features are quot not available quot my pc is gt gt gt gt LENOVO G and there s a yellow triangle in my other devices gt gt gt Lenovo video driver serious trouble gt Base system Device gt gt gt gt Base system Device gt gt gt gt Unknown gt gt gt gt Video Controller gt gt gt gt Video Controller VGA Compatible any ideas how to solved this if you need any other information concerning my problem im going to give it to you nbsp
Always helpful to state your OS first.
You definitely need to install drivers for the Base system Devices. Did you get a driver CD with your notebook or do you have a restore partition? if so go to device manager and click on the yelow item and right mouse on it and select: "Update driver" let it search for the driver, may take quite long. If successful with thiose two then try the unkown and then re-install your video driver, making sure you have the correct version, are you positive it is Mobile Intel 4 series express family?
when i try dxdiag the buttons in directX features is ghosted and disabled i dont know how to enabled it... my directX is version 10 and when i start warcraft 3... it has an error... warcraft 3 unable to initialize it hast to be 8.1 or newer...
and i don't know what to do in the errors in my device manager
there is a video controller and VGA compatible <----- no idea and when i try some intel graphics controller it always says it CODE 10 cannot start...
and i dont know my chipsets PLSSSS HELP MEEEEE if know anything to fix my problem plsss help... if you want to know anything in order to help me just ask me
code 10 problems...
Hi Code 10 errors are linked to a driver that needs updating. You say when you look at 'dxdiag' screen the display is twisted, but that could well be part of the same problem. If you can see what you are doing, go into device manager, look for the entries that have a yellow triangle next to them. Right-click on each one, and choose 'update driver'. As long as you are connected to the net, you should get the driver updated. You probably will need to reboot your PC to have the new driver be effective. Hope that helps.
Ok so i just bought setting on help wireless printer Need network up a samsung clx fw printer and i wanna add it to my network I have a router and a quot Main Computer quot and then i have laptops All computers have the printer drivers installed Currently i can wirelessly print everything from my laptops and the way my printer is setup currently is that it is connected to Need help setting up wireless printer on network the router via ethernet cable Therefore it is connected in infrastructure wireless mode if im not wrong The thing is that i wanna connect the printer to the router wirelessly because of the fact that ill move my printer to another room in the future To clarify laptops have windows and the other laptop and computer have xp Please don t ask tell me to set up using Ad Hoc because then i have to switch between networks just to print which seems stupid to me So far i have tried because its just so hard to get a printer connected wirelessly so please help accordingly thanks nbsp
ad-hoc is NOT the approach so you are find
WiFi printers can be difficult - - you need the manual to do the setup.
From one of your EXISTING WiFi connections, you can get the SSID, Channel, and passphrase.
Typically, I've seen this done entirely from the printer end and the controls it offers
I want to take my old computers Hard Drive and attach it to my new computer. Im curious as to how i should go about doing that. ive already gotten it off of my old computer. and im pretty sure i can figure out how to get it attached to my new computer. but im not sure how to set up the BIOS, slave/master thingy, and what im supposed to do with the jumper settings. any help will be greatly appreciated. o and my Hard Drive is an Enhanced IDE (called an EIDE right?)
No need to mess with the BIOS, just the jumper.
Tell us more about the hardware (SATA, PATA).
Has anyone had any weird probelms when charging after doing new firmware update?

Probably nothing wrong with Windows, something about the BIOS has gotten confused, seen this on Fujitsu's.
Disconnect the power, remove the battery. Put them back in, try and boot with no peripherals connected, it should be OK.
People say that you should Overclock in increments, but what if you memorized the Overclocking settings and jump directly to them after a CMOS reset?
It will either work or it wont... no real way of knowing until you try it. Every motherboard is different, and some even allow you to save your settings in profiles, so you might experience a problem or it might work just fine.
