Preferred Solution: how to reset lenovo T410 to factory setting.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

All your files will be lost. Do you want to recover them first?

Do you know the Administrator password?

Do you have a blue button above the keyboard?

Hi manojalandkar  ,

Greetings.

For the Z50-70 factory reset,

Turn off your pc and use the Novo Key (left side number 2 page 9)  to turn back on .
Novo menu would offer System Recovery , One key recovery from Initial Backup would launch factory restore that would reset everything and delete all files and programs.

It would be repartitioned with a new image just like when it came from out of the box.

Be sure that you back up things you need before doing it.
Update us how it goes.

Hello
recently i upgraded my acer laptop to windows 10 .After using for a week and so i starting having problems with it my disk usage started showing 100% although i was not doing any task.
so i decided to switch back to my original windows 7 through acer e-recovery management . Now the issue is that i can not perform factory reset . when ever i click on that i generally get an error that i need to clean all my files from hard disk as it will not perform the task , although i have no files on my laptop as i took a backup of my files and deleted them from the laptop.
I am unable to understand what is the issue

A:How to i reset my laptop to factory setting

The process is different among the different brands and not having an Acer can't advise as to what theirs is. However, if you have nothing on it you want to keep you should be able to continue with a full factory restore, should be a prompt to do so. I've found in a similar situation that having made the discs when prompted was easier than doing it from a backup process.

Hello,
I've tried to restore my computer to factory settings but at the screen it only gives me the option to restore to a previous backup date - the factory reset option is there but it's not selectable (clickable).
Has this setting been disabled somehow? I'm running windows 7 on an Envy (C0N32PA).
Thanks

Hello mparker and welcome to Seven Forums.

I believe that in order to access the hidden recovery partition on an HP computer you need to keep clicking one of the function keys (F7, F8, etc on top row of keyboard) as soon as you apply power to the computer. This HP article explains how to perform a system recovery on computers that shipped with Windows 7.

My Windows 8 Lenovo Y500 has been in a constant auto repair black screen blue screen loop for a couple of days now and I can't seem to find a solution. Mainly I've been looking to simply factory restore it to solve the problem since I don't care about losing any data. I've already tried: F8Shift + F8F9F11Novo button system recovery I tried these in order to try and access the advanced options but to no avail. The Novo button system recovery says "Loading files" then goes to Lenovo logo but loops back to the auto repair. I do not have a Win. 8 recovery disc or USB at hand. Is the only way to fix this is to obtain one? Thanks.

Hi I have a Lenovo laptop I was struggling to use several of 8 windows g40-30 Factory lenovo reset months now It wouldn't update windows for one thing noway whatsoever and would not either upgrade for free to windows Since the expiry day for free windows upgrade is approaching I decided to factory reset it and complete the upgrade if it wants it or not I guess I'll have questions during the process so I decided to register here and ask Factory reset of lenovo g40-30 windows 8 them as they will appear So here is the first question as I checked the reset button it asked if I want to reset only the drive Factory reset of lenovo g40-30 windows 8 with windows or the other drives too Such as my laptop had more than one drives which I ignored Where can I locate and check those drives TksP S Don't know how to answer to the below answer but editing initial post I performed clean install of windows through novo button although a botched attempt to recovery through another procedure previously made windows not responding nbsp Wonderful feature the novo button did not even know it existed in my laptop After that I upgraded fully to windows added a security suite a vpn and now I am scanning for malware offline nbsp Will study all your info below first thing next nbsp I have another question though nbsp If I want to create a restore point now that I finished upgrading is this possibility available or should I use the one key recovery to create an image instead nbsp Or are both options available and if yes which one to choose

A:Factory reset of lenovo g40-30 windows 8

Hi assybertran ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Usual for the G40-30 model to either have a single HDD or a hybrid SSHD that holds with 8GB NAND flash memory . Physical harddrive may hold multiple drive declared as partitions.

Onekey recovery feature is a full factory reset that would be able to clear and delete everything out and restore the image the way it was when receive from out of the box which is ideal to having a fresh start for users as it deletes possibilities of infecting one drive from the others.
Data back up is definitely recommended on a different storage

To check both for availability and integrity  running diagnostics would help.  Going to the BIOS on the same Novo menu would also show physical drives available on the unit.
About the mentioned partitions , disk management would show it. Note that OKR is a hidden partition on the harddrive (highlighted links for further reference and details) .

Take time to review the procedure and back up everything needed. Run appropriate diagnostics before deciding.

Update us how things go for you.

Hi,

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad E530c laptop which I need to reset to factory.

On startup. pressing F11 brings up the Lenovo recovery tool to do this, however, because the laptop is setup on a network, it says this cannot be used. It instructs me to login and use the tools within the OS.

I cannot login because the trust relationship between the laptop and server is corrupt (which I also can't fix).

Any ideas on how I can access the recovery tool, perhaps by creating a new login to use (I don't know the local admin password).

Thanks

The screen shot you posted shows the system restore page, not a factory reset page. There would be no system restore points to restore to because system restore was disabled.

So, I need your help.

My wife got on Word and tried to print an envelope.
Some how she screwed up the default settings, and every time
that I open a new document, the envelope settings come up with the

fine but the "new document" file is messed up.

Can somebody tell me how to return word to its default settings

Hi, I have faced a problem then my laptop setting keep reset after i turned off for a night and on back. For example, the battery "conservation mode" i set to ON before i off it and somehow, when i turn on the laptop, the battery continue charging till 100% instead stop at 60%(conservation mode). So i open "lenovo setting" and check, the conservation mode is in ON position but battery still keep charging till 100%. So i need to slide to off and again slide it On to activate back the mode. Could this application error? or what?

Hi everyone,
Need a new laptop for my computer science degree, considered quite a few. Was just wondering if anyone has an oppinion on the Lenovo ThinkPad T410 2516, I would upgrade it as follows:
i5-460m processor
windows 7 home premium 64
3/4GB RAM
320GB 7200rpm hard drive
9 cell battery
Anyone think i should upgrade it differently, I'd like to get it a little cheaper so where if anywhere should i make the cuts in upgrades?
Has anyone got this laptop? is it particularly heavy to carry around?

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP
We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32.
To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

System information:

- Lenovo T410
- Bought December 2010
- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OEM
- Hitachi 500 GB hard drive
- NVIDIA NVS 3100m Optimus Graphics 512MB DDR3 with AMT
- 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM) + I installed another 4 GB

I have not reinstalled the OS. The laptop had BSOD's right out of the box. They are unpredictable and occur 1-4 times per day. I disabled the switchable graphics, which seemed to reduce the frequency of the BSODs a little. I've updated the system via Lenovo's System Update tool. I called Lenovo's technical service and they ran through their stock checks and it didn't help.

I've attached the dump and system file collection + system diagnostics.

Thanks for any insight,

The thinkpad hasn't been used for nearly a year and two months since i purchased it from my friend. Lenovo Power Manager recongnized the battery for a few seconds then says:  Could not detect battery, please reinsert battery or recharge the battery. I applied double sided tape to the thinkpad battery so it wouldn't wobble. Still the same problem. Battery was purchased 2014-06-04.It is an aftermarket battery.

Hello,
I am having trouble getting the built-in wireless adapter on this laptop to get connected to the internet. I have installed the following driver:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/migr-73611
but have had no luck. there are no available wireless connections I can connect to.
I have also tried to use USB wireless adapter TP-LINK TL-WN725N to connect to internet. It is able to find available connections but when it tries to connect it says unable to connect and give options to troubleshoot. Once troubleshoot is complete it says to investigate router or access point issues. I have reset the router many times. Other devices are working fine with the internet just not this laptop.
I am running windows 7 64Bit.
Please help.
Thanks

A:Lenovo Thinkpad T410 wireless issue

Can you connect the laptop to the router using a cable at all ?

using just the laptop wireless adapter
unlikely to be this as it is reporting NO networks available - but check anyway please
Check the wireless is switched ON
theres often a physical switch or a combination of the FN and one of the F keys to toggle the wireless on/off
often F2 is used - but note , not always - look for a symbol that looks a little like (( i ))

is the wireless on?

ipconfig /all

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
Note: you will see entries named Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: we dont need to see that information - JUST the information above those entries

Now type CMD

Now press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):
In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt
It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all

From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

In our company we have migrated from Toshiba to Lenovo laptops/tablets.  Recently users have been reporting that their T410 laptops are very very slow.  Most of the time they over estimate the slowness time, but this time it's not.  I checked the device and it takes 4-5 minutes from powering on the device to getting the ctrl+alt+del screen.  In that time, there is a few seconds where the screen goes completely black, then comes back. After logging in, it takes another 5-6 minutes to get to the desktop.  I've checked the Hard Drive, memory, spyware, etc. and everything checks out.  The user states that this only started happening a couple of weeks ago.  He's had the device for about a year. Anyone else noticing this type of slowness and what could be causing this issue? Thanks

What happens if you load a program such as HWInfo32 to ensure that the CPU isn't running too slowly? When running HWInfo32, the CPU speed should match or exceed the adverstised speed of the laptop whenever some program is actively using the CPU.

Good afternoon all,

I have been in the process of making my laptop, a Lenovo Thinkpad T410, a much better device to use. While I've been having HDD issues, my main issue right now is the battery that I had purchased. With the IBM Power Manager software, the battery is listed as a Sanyo 42T4710. It is a 9 cell battery and I will provide any other information you need.

When I had first purchased the device, after charging for awhile the battery icon on the laptop would begin to flash amber. It will not charge to 100%, and usually stops at 96%. With the battery manager, the charge threshold is set to "Always Full Charge (Start when below 96% and end at 100%). I tried to run the battery gauge reset option, however the laptop permanently stayed at 96% and never discharged lower than that.

Are there any recommendations that you can make for what I should do with the battery?

Thanks!

Factory Restore is to the state it was when you first got it.
You will then need to run 4 years worth of Windows Updates bit by bit - don't be tempted to allow Windows to update them all in one go. Choose them in block of say 10, chronologically, restarting the system carefully each time.

The first time I was able to go in and just go to control panel and factory reset it by clicking the option... now it no longer exists and It says I need a point to go back to... but I just want it clean and wiped, I went back to before I got the virus and it was still there after I restored it to that point so it was unsuccessful... How do I go about doing this with a complete system restore without using a point, I do NOT have an original disk with my OS because it came pre-installed with Home Premium... Any help would be appreciated!

A:I could use some help with a factory reset...

Welcome to the Forum.
A restore point probably would not help because it is probably infected also.
We need some information to start off with.
What infections were found?
What programs did you run to remove the infections?
What anti virus programs do you use (Active)?

Could you do this to give us some more information.

A:Factory Reset?

you can do factory reset of the laptop, by disconnecting CMOS battery(while laptop turned off and if main battery and charger disconnected too) and reconnecting it again. if you wish to remove password you can try this procedure, but in 99% cases it won't help.

wendy1358 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! While Microsoft tells you that there is no risk in the Win10 Upgrade, because they let you believe that you can always revert back to your original OS and setup within 30 days, the ugly fact of the matter is that the Win10 GoBack function has proven to be unreliable -- and when it fails, it can leave machines in a corrupted state -- which doesn't always happen, but it does happen often enough to be a problem and you won't get any warning in advance that it is going to trash your PC!If that is not bad enough, the Win10 Upgrade is know, in some cases, to corrupt the Recovery partition stored there by the OEM that built the original machine. This pretty much guarantees that no HP Recovery is going to work: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Video-Display-and-Touch/HP-Recovery-Manager-Blocked-After-Windo...This means that RESET no longer works on your laptop due to your doing the Win10 Upgrade. To actually restore your PC to its original condition, you need something known as HP Recovery Media. To see if there is Recovery Media available for your PC, I will need the detailed product number:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

Get the latest drivers from the PC (or motherboard) manufacturer's web site. If no specific instructions for installation order install the chipset first, then I like to install the networking and graphics and then the rest randomly.

Hi everyone,

I have had to do a factory reset on my PC, My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium.                                     PROCESSOR: AMD E 350 PROCESSOR 1.60 GHZ
RAM: 4.00 GB (350 USABLE)
SYSTEM TYPE: 64-BIT OPERATING SYSTEM

I would like ALL FREE software to help me stay safe and clean and yes I know common sense will help me safe and clean.

At the moment I have Bitdefender Antivirus FREE installed and I would like to know if I could also add the following:

1. Malwarebytes FREE Antimalware?

2. CCleaner?

3. Add Block Plus?

4. Heimdal Free (Heimdal Free is a program that scans your computer for outdated and possibly vulnerable programs and automatically updates them to the latest version for you.)

5. Last but not least FREE SpywareBlaster?

Thank you in advance for your help, advice and comments, I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind Regards

TheHappyOne

A:Factory Reset

1. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free: Certainly yes. MBAM Free is an effective on-demand scanner and also adept at removing malware. Just remember to run a scan regularly, as the free version do not offer real-time protection and automatic scanning.2. CCleaner: Yes. Don't use the Registry Cleaner option, though.3. Adblock Plus: Yes. If you use Chrome however then I recommend uBlock, which is less resource intensive than Adblock Plus.4. Heimdal Free: I prefer Secunia PSI, as Secunia scans everything - Heimdal doesn't.5. SpywareBlaster Free: Yes.Hope this helps Regards,Alex

You can download the ISO of windows 7 OS - bit version you have and burn to a disc. Then do a clean install with that. Making sure to use current Product Key. If you can't find it, use Belarc to show you.

hello i was using a pirated version of windows 7 ultimate until i bought the CD key at microsoft store. it was the upgrade version. i have a problem with BSOD. i debuged the .dmp files and the problems were ntkrnlpa.exe and Win32k.sys. Unfortunately, i cant delete any of those files. I want to factory reset but i cant because i dont have the CD. However i have a Genuine Windows 7 Ultimate CD Key. Any suggestions on how i can factory reset or remove the BSOD problems? Thanks in Advance.

A:HELP i cant factory reset.

By 'factory reset' I assume you mean format and re-install from scratch.

I suggest you purchase a Genuine Windows 7 CD to go with your Genuine Windows 7 CD Key. Beyond that I am unable to help as this forum does not support cracked/illegal software, while you may have a valid CD key you are still using a cracked version of the operating system.

I seem to have lost the ability to perform a factory reset on my compaq 5000. When I insert the Compaq Recovery CD and restart the PC, it goes to the blue screen with the five options, however, option 4 (factory reset) is stating that I need to have the Recovery CD in order to do that...yet the CD is already in the drive. The CD drive is working just fine...thank You.

Hello, I have an older custom built PC from my father and it's starting to get a little buggy as of late, freezing and such, and honestly the hard drives are getting too full, I feel it'd be better to just wipe the thing clean and start over.
The downside is I have no CD with which to reset it, and I want to make sure I'm doing it completely right, IE I don't want to delete my OS with it or completely break my PC. Any info you need for this I can provide willingly, thank you!

If I'm not mistaken all the applications and programs that came with the system will be restored, is that right? It "may" be that the recovery partition doesn't exsist anymore...? How did you instal win-7?There are a couple of useful links re' the reset routine at this site (another forum to give it credit). The first link is for the manual..http://ccm.net/forum/affich-493901-...Page 74 in the manual describes the various options.Be "very aware" that a factory reset will erase "all" your personal files in the process. So first ensure you have copied anything you wouldn't wish to lose to external storage beforehand. Typically to DVD but an external hard drive too is nice(r). Verify the copies are accessible too on at least one other system (if possible) as well as the current one. What OS was there originally?

You can create a Restore Disc to restore your computer to factory defaults.

Quote:

Complete the following steps to create the recovery disc set:
Click Start , click All Programs , click PC Help & Tools , and then click Recovery Disc Creation .
Click Next when the Welcome screen displays.
A window opens listing the number of blank discs required to make a complete recovery set.
Get the correct type and number of blank discs before continuing.
Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to create the recovery discs.

For detailed instructions and graphics, see the following support document:

Hi, im trying to factory reset my computer because i'm just tired of having a full HD, and random software from years ago. Anyways, my current OS is Windows 7 and I have an Alienware m15x. Now i've read up on a few ways to restore this specific computer, however, I don't have the installation disc, AlienRespawn/DellDataSafe does not appear when press f8 at boot menu, and i don't have a factory system image to recover from apparently. So with this being said, Is there anyway to factory reset? I have a bootable USB drive with windows 7 recovery on it, but I need a system image or something I believe.

EDIT:I've also tried download AlienRespawn Win 7 patch off of alienware.com but when I try to use it it says "Change.MBR failed"

A:Factory Reset

Since you did the free upgrade to Win 10 the computer would have been registed with Microsoft, hence just download the OS from Microsoft and the it should activate automatically.Alternatly:Since the computer is loaded with Win 7 which was not shipped with the computer, you need to get a Recovery Disc from HP and run Recovery.:http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07143
