Preferred Solution: freeze during crash dump error screen

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:crash dump blue screen

Hi beiniam and welcome to Vista Forums

A bit more information please. What is the make and model of your computer? Does this problem occur for a specific program (which would indicate that you need an update for that program), or does it happen for any program? Exactly what does it say on the BSOD? Post back quoting the exact information displayed (use a digital camera to capture the image if necessary) as this information will help us to pin-point your problem (or, at least, narrow it down).

Yesterday when I started my computer I got a blue screen that said crash dump and the computer just keeps rebooting and crashing.

I am running Vista Home basic 32 bit on an E Machines EL1200-07W.

I have no access to online even when rebooting in safe mode with networking. I get a mesage that it can't load C:/windows/system32/van.dll

Also can't run any Norton or spyware programs.

I have been messing with it for 2 days but getting nowhere.

Hi,
So I've been getting the blue screen where it says crash dump file 5.10.20....100 I think most of you know what I'm talking about.
It's happened about once every 3-4 weeks.  It tells me I can restore to an earlier point.

I want to give information so anyone can help.  Not sure what to give.  Is there some diagnostic tool that I can run and then post a screen clipping of the results?
The laptop is HP Pavilion g7-1365dx I think it's quad-core and its AMD A6 Vision.

A:Blue screen/crash dump

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

hello iririshmc

since you have the disc you could try startup repair to check the RAM. here is a tutorial.
How to automatically repair Windows Vista using Startup Repair
have you tried sfc /scannow ?

ps: don't seem like it would be the hdd. bad ram has been known to cause all kinds of problems!

Hello,
I have recently bought a dell vostro 3450 pc, and every few hours my computer crashes with a blue screen error, and restarts itself. I have uploaded the mini dump files, and would appreciate any help regarding this problem.
In addition, I would like to ask how could I manualy turn of the display. I don't have a designated "Fn" button for it, and I downloaded an .exe flie for it, but if there's any windows'\dell's built in option, I would surely prefere that.
thx

A:Memory dump blue screen crash

The minidumps would indicate a memory fault so follow the guide below to test your memory.

You would need to look in the laptop manual to find out how to turn off the screen on my Dell Inspiron it is on the F8 key.

Preliminary checks
You should first check the model of RAM stick that you have on the manufacturers site for the recommended voltage setting and then make sure it is set correctly in the PC's Bios. An incorrect voltage setting may be the reason for your problems so test the PC's performance again if the voltage was incorrect.
Errors can also be caused by dirty contacts, mismatched sticks or using them in the wrong slots. Check all sticks are the same make and specification, check the motherboard manual for the correct slots to use. Remove all the sticks and clean the contacts with a soft pencil eraser and blow out the slots with a can of compressed air.
Testing
Download Memtest86+ from here.
You need to scroll down the page until you see the three blue screenshots. Just below is the list of downloads for Memtest86+ V4.20. Click on Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip) and save to your desktop.
When the download is complete right click the file and select Extract Here and burn the image to a CD.
In windows 7 right click the extracted file, select Open With, then select Windows Disc Image Burning Tool then follow the prompts. For all other versions of windows (if you do not have an ISO burner) download this free software. isoimageburner
Boot the PC into the Bios setup and set the CD/DVD drive to 1st in the boot sequence. Insert the disk in the drive then reboot and the disc will load into dos. Leave the test to run through at least 8 cycles or until it is showing some errors. If errors show in the test, remove all but one of your RAM sticks and repeat the test on each stick until you find the one that is faulty. This is a long slow test and should ideally be run overnight.
The memtest will not be 100% accurate but should easily detect any major faults.
IMPORTANT
Always disconnect your PC from the mains supply when removing Ram sticks and earth your hands to discharge any static electricity to avoid damage to sensitive components. If performing this test on a laptop PC you should also remove the battery before removing or replacing the RAM sticks.Click to expand...

It has happened quite a few times but my computer would crash to a blue screen in which it memory dumps due to a severe system error. When I recover, this is the error report I get as well as the dump files. It is difficult to research exactly what these error codes mean so would really appreciate it helping me in the right direction to fix this problem, thank you.

A:New PC, Random Black Screen Freeze under load, no dump file generated

The file you uploaded didn't contain anything. Please run Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions again and select option 2 in the instructions. Click the big orange 'Grab All' button and give it time to finish. Then upload the entire file and we will take a look.

Also, please include manufacturer and model of the PSU in your system specs at the bottom left of your last post. Just click that and there will be a link there to update system specs. Be sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you haven't already, please list the PSU, CPU cooler and anything else that may help. Sometimes we have to look up a component, so the details to do that helps us to help you.

Also, after that please open a elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.

You actually did very well in filling in the system specs. Just a couple more things need to be added. Also, welcome to Seven Forums. When you say a new custom built computer, who built it and I assume it is still under warranty. Just add any details you can about the problem. If it happens when running a certain app, or when doing a certain thing that would be useful info to help us nail down the problem. Can I also assume the OS as already installed when you received the computer?

No significant info in the dump file (it blames the Windows kernel).
Please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.
If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line.

When's the last time you received a blue screen? Because your most recent bsod log is dated back on March 31st. The one before that was March 22nd.

Hi guys I posted on here a day or two ago about a problem I had I thought I had fixed it but it turns out I didn t Here is my original post Hey everyone Long story so I ll try to be brief with lots is (internet now crash blue working dump though) screen of info lol I have computers One is custom made by a friend dual core processors AMD at ghz each gb of RAM basic video card g-force but not sure how high quality I know it s worse than crash dump blue screen (internet is working now though) my other computer and has dvd drives The other computer is a dell computer dual core intel at ghz about gb of RAM and a great video card intel dvd drive Now the dell computer had been always faster at everything I finally realized it was due to the video card not being able to support all the graphics of vista on custom computer so I went in and edited the advanced display visual function properties or whatever it s called where you can select to display or not display certain visual operations like that transparency look showing contents of a window while you re moving it shading behind the mouse pointer etc I disabled most of them and suddenly the computer started working faster Yay for me Before I figured this out the computer was constantly crashing I thought fixing those settings would help but it didn t not really So I ended up uninstalling everythign that was recently installed and then re-installing only the programs I needed This seemed to do the trick since it s been days and it hasn t crashed used to crash freeze at least once or twice a day But my problem now is that the internet on custom computer is suddenly really r e a l l y S L O W The dell computer is still fast as hell I have rogers we re in canada not sure what the level is called but it s the GB bandwidth one So anybody know why the internet could be slow No viruses scanned twice with ESET NOD Any ideas That was my original post So I ended up using a command prompt to fix the internet That worked and it was fine for a full day and I posted on it and someone marked it as solved but unfortunately the computer just crashed again today It stops working and goes to a blue screen that says it s preparing for a crash dump This is what used to happen before when it would crash Any help nbsp

A:crash dump blue screen (internet is working now though)

To summarize there is no current problem with the internet but you are getting BSODs?

I can run a debugging utility on the dump files if you do this:

1 > create a new folder on the desktop and call it "dumpcheck" or whatever you like
2 > navigate to c:\windows\minidump and copy the last few minidump files to that folder. *this assumes 'c' is your boot drive, if it is not, subsitute accordingly
3 > close the folder and right click on it and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.
4 > use the "manage attachments" in the "advanced" reply window to upload that zip file here as an attachment.

This might point us to a non Microsoft driver causing the error, if one exists for it.

If you do not see any minidumps, be sure you are not using any cache cleaner such as CCleaner. Also run sysdm.cpl and select Advanced > Startup and Recovery. Make sure "small memory dump" is the one chosen under "write debugging information" and the location should be %systemroot%\minidump

Since almost all bugchecks can be caused by faulty ram, I would recommend you perform memory tests.

In Vista you can run mdsched.exe -- on reboot to the scanner press F1 for advanced options and run the extended tests.

I opened up my case in the first time and used a soft small paintbrush to clean the fans and extra dust ewww. I got it cleaned up and now I keep getting the crash dump screen. The fans work and nothing was disconnected. I can get my on pc for an hour or all day before it dumps. Help me. I cleaned out all my music videos and pics gigs of memory cleared. Ran virus scans and spyware. Help do I need to do a total reboot or is there help. I have the code that popped up on my screen if that helps

A:Vista crash dump blue screen of death

The time element does suggest overheating -- have you monitored for that?

Were there problems before you opened the case for cleaning?

There are a couple of things that need to be examined

1- In the earlier DMPS you show bit defender and it is listed as the cause. Are you still using it?
2- In the later DMPS the crashes point to hardware. Have you made any hardware changes? QAre you overclocking?
3- A quick search of BF3 yields 174, 000 hits on the query of BSOD in win 7. DO you have the most up to date version of the game??

This is the generic help for hardware

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

Some generic advice.

If you are overclocking STOP. return to the default settings at least for now.
If you are running a RAID update its driver.
You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

I have un-installed it, and re-installed it. None of these solutions have worked! I would really like to play it. Please help!

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions). I also suspect that this is true for Win8 systems.

Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [S] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/S] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012

EVGA Precision causes BSOD's in some Win7 systems. I'm unsure of EVGA PrecisionX and it's affects on Win8 - so please keep an eye on it "just in case". If you don't need it, then simply uninstall it. If overclocking, please stop while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the BSOD's have stopped.

You must update the Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility driver - the 2005 version (which is installed on your system) is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 and Win8 systems. You can get this from the Asus download site for your motherboard (usually in the Utilities or ATK section).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

This has happened 3 times in the past 2 days and I have no clue what's causing it. My computer has had this problem before but it just went away before. I'll just be listening to iTunes, talking on AIM, and browsing in Firefox and all of the sudden my computer freezes and it shows this blue screen then it just sits there and I have to restart.

Here is an idea of what it looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8akgG2BpTQ

The error I get says IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

Thanks.

A:Freeze, Blue Screen, Crash

Hi . . .

Please go to the folder c:\windows\minidump and collect ALL of the files. Also, run msinfo32, and sav it as an NFO (System info) file. Zip these files up and attach to your next post and I'll take a look at th dump files to see if if I can help you to locate the cause of your BSOD problems.

Regards. . .

A:Solved: Screen Freeze and Crash

No Preaching about laptops being so Prescious. Just a reminder that with the exception of a few, Laptops are not designed as Gaming Machines, and that they run at a higher temp normally than most Desktops. When you start gaming you start running into higher temps that can damage and kill things like the Video Adapter, the Motherboard and the CPU.

Using Compressed air to blow the dust out of the vent slots can help lower temperatures.

I frequently leave my laptop running over night while it is plugged in and it does not suffer. If the system were overheating though it probably would have caused problems.

I don't get a BSOD, just a system crash. Screen freezes in place and no response from keyboard/mouse. My computer was freezing before with the onboard video card I had, so I swapped it out for an Asus HD4350. It used to crash with a blue screen with lines on it. Since the installation of the new card, it just freezes. So I think it's the video card.

Minidump attached!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

A:Get random screen freeze/system crash

It does look like a video card issue. Try updating your card drivers.

A:GAMES freeze/crash PC to Black Screen

I would suggest some hardware checks.

   Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Monitor temperatures during the following tests. Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures. Real Temp is a good CPU temperature monitor.
Speccy - System Information - Free Download will monitor all hardware temperatures.
HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools can be inaccurate for CPU temperatures, but is a good program for GPU temperature monitoring.
Use FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net to test the graphics card GPU. Let it run until the GPU temperatures even out or until the GPU temperatures reach a dangerous level (you can find the max temperature for your card on either the nVidia or AMD sites; if you are not sure, ask us). The goal is to get a steady temperature, find out if the GPU is overheating, or to see if there are any artifacts present in the test itself: look for strange pixelated patterns on the screen or colors that do not look like they belong. Then use the |MG| Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116 Download to test your graphics card memory. Let the memory test run for at least seven passes; the more the better.

Run Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95 to determine any hardware problems. Run all three tests for a few hours each. If you get errors, stop the test and post back here.

Follow the steps for doing CPU stress test using IntelBurnTest

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:Shut down and turn off your computer.
Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working.
Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

512mb ram
256mb ati radeon 9550
80gb seagate barracuda

Edit: Please use proper thread titles from now on. Thanks.

A:Games freeze and crash with weird colours on screen.

Do the weird color patterns disappear after you quit the game you were trying to play? How do you manage to get rid of the weird colors spreading across the screen?

Make sure you have the latest Radeon Catalyst driver for your graphics card.

Here are the newest drivers for your video card for Windows XP Pro/Home:
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html

Click on the "Installation Instructions" on that page if you need them.

Make sure you uninstall the previous ones first. Keep us posted!

With Help from this forum about three months ago I was able to troubleshoot and fix issues with a defective installed Video Driver, but starting about a week ago once again I've been getting BSOD and also freeze-ups [without BSOD] that go to a Black Screen and then I need to reboot.

I had installed the latest Adobe flash upgrade minutes before this crash, after reboot system recommended a boot-up files fix from the menu that went on to restored the previous 'restore-point' configuration, apparently Flash was uninstalled [as Adobe/Flash requested a new install right after the reboot], unfortunately even so the system crashed a minute after again, this time I got a BSOD that reported something related to a Driver, unfortunately I forgot to do a screen-grab.

Hopefully this latest BSOD file dump is uploaded here, Could some one take a look and see which driver or what else could be causing a problem now?

Thanks

A:Sporatic BSOD and Black Screen Freeze-ups/Crash

Hi mackado,

I'm going to need 1 more log file to deduce the problem.

Please follow the steps below:
Go to: Start > Type: msconfig.exe - Press Enter
Go to the tab 'Boot'
Bottom of the window there are check-boxes, tick the one called 'Boot log'
Press Apply/OK
Shutdown the PC
Wait 10 seconds
Turn on PC
Go to - C:\Windows and find a file called ntbtlog.txt
Upload this file to this thread
Once you have uploaded the file, I will take a look and we'll see what we can do from there.

If it freezes entering the BIOS, there is a hardware issue.

List your full hardware specs.

You can test the HDD using the drive manufacturers disk tools available from their website.
You can test the RAM using Memtest86

Provide the following information about your hardware so we can check compatibility:Download and install CPU-Z and Upload screenshots of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs. In the SPD tab, upload an image of each slot. To upload all screenshots, it would be best to:generate the images using the Snipping Tool,
go to where the images are saved,
right click in a blank area within the folder where the images are saved,
create a new folder,
name the folder CPUZ,
select all the images,
place the pointer over an image,
press and hold down the left mouse button and drag the image (all images should move with it),
drop the images into the CPUZ directory you created,
create a compressed (zipped) folder of CPUZ
upload the .zip file to the forums.

My Windows XP Pro PC Asus p Series motherboard Pentium processor GB Ram mb MSI Graphics Card Matrox RTX Video card keeps getting scattered glitches across the screen and then very soon after the system locks up freezes and then sometimes completely crashes The computer was self built about years ago mainly by a friend and its main purpose was to video edit but hasnt been right from the start I had used it and my crash scattered system lock across screen, up/freeze glitches ok and edited a few things but stopped using it for some time when it started to crash quite often I tried using it agian recently but now I get this happening within the first min of using it One thing i always thought was that it scattered glitches across my screen, system lock up/freeze and crash got to hot the software temperature gauge often showed it approaching red all the time but this was confusing because I have fans on the case scattered glitches across my screen, system lock up/freeze and crash one in a flap out the top of the case plus I mounted a fan in a spare AGP slot near the graphics card I wondered if the CPU was still over heating and causing this in that case I wouldn t have a clue what to do or if the graphics card was faulty in which case would I need a new one I wouldn t want to spend a lot in case this wasn t the problem Thanks scattered glitches across my screen, system lock up/freeze and crash in advance for any help you can give nbsp

Black Crash, Screen shortly Random after Freeze, strange problem my desktop has had for a fairly long time Usually my computer will work fine start up with no problems for several days Random Crash, Freeze, Black Screen or BSOD shortly after startup. in a row And then for reasons I don't know it sometimes will start crashing Usually the screen goes completely black and the computer completely non-responsive and it must be hard reset to get any response at all out of it A few times I've actually seen a brief BSOD but too brief to actually read it Random Crash, Freeze, Black Screen or BSOD shortly after startup. and see what Random Crash, Freeze, Black Screen or BSOD shortly after startup. is happening Sometimes the screen will just freeze where it is with the last bit of audio that was playing repeating nonstop The strangest thing about these crashes is they only happen a little bit after or during startup if the computer is fine for minutes I know it'll be fine until the next time it's turned off It has on a few occasions come up with a screen telling me that the CMOS is corrupted I've had startup repair run and tried some kind of hard drive diagnostic tool the startup repair couldn't find a problem and the tool said the hard drive was good I've seen it crash this way in the middle of the bios boot during login in safe mode pretty much any time during the first half-hour to hour of the computer being on But never afterward I ran the diagnostic tool the results are attached to this post Any help at all would be appreciated In case it has any effect on anything my computer used to be a Vista and a complimentary upgrade was used to make it windows

Hello Xindaris.

It appears that you have tow antivirus programs installed? MSE and Avira?
Uninstall Avira. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Uninstall MagicISO. It may cause the BSODs as you explained.

ITEMVAUUEName MagicISO SCSI Host ControllerManufacturer MagicISO, Inc.PNP Device ID ROOT\SCSIADAPTER\0000Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\mcdbus.sys (2.7.106.519, 249.56 KB (255,552 bytes), 12/15/2009 5:17 PM)The SCSI adapter installed by MagicISO can cause start time BSODs.

The Display Driver is not Up to date.

How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.
How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Let us know the results. And, is it a factory installed windows?

I have the hp m8100n with vista home pro. I absolutely hate both.

I don't know what the hell is going on but here's what's happening:

Crashes and blue screens with the 0x00000024, 0x0000008E and a myriad of others.

If I use any combination of windows media center and anything else, it goes nuts, freezes and that whole memory dump thing starts.

Often, It freezes and just does nothing.

Every time, I shut down and reboot. Sometimes it would act normal thereafter and finally, now, it seems like it tries to reboot but the CPU does a short beep followed by a long beep every 2 seconds.

I am ready to throw this thing out the window. It all seemed to have started when I downloaded the latest version of iTunes/Quicktime. I have unintalled, reinstalled, uninstalled again, did system recovery, did windows updates, updated drivers... I GIVE UP!!

Can someone PLEASE help me through this?

A:[SOLVED] Major Crash, Freeze, Blue Screen Issues With Hp & Vista; Help!!!

Hi. . .

A bugcheck of 0x24 = NTFS file corruption - See if you can boot into SAFEMODE and run chkdsk /f from an elevated command prompt:
START | type cmd.exe into start search box | right-click on cmd.exe and select run as admin. Then type:

chkdsk /f

A bugcheck of 0x8e = a kernel mode application generated an exception. If the 1st parm inside the partenthesis is 0xc0000005 then it tells us a memory violation occurred. Run memtest86+ - click on the link below in my sig area. You will need to make an ISO and boot-up with the resulting DVD/CD.

I would run the memory dumps, but with the wide variety of bugchecks (STOP error codes) that you mentioned in addition to the beeping, this appears to be a hardware issue at this time and the dumps would probably not contain any helpful information.

Please look at the following from our Hardware Forum for information on the beeps.

My Dell Studio XPS 8100 has started Freezing up Mostly during graphical work (ie Games or Video playback) sometimes I notice the internet connection will drop out first.

Sometimes it will happen while its not being used at all.

I have done a complete format & operating system reinstall. Checked all drivers (As best as I know how), Pulled all hardware out cleaned & reseated. Reapplied thermal paste between CPU & Heatsink, Cleaned out fans.

Run Memory Checks, Furmark Graphics stress test. Intel CPU Stress test & many more.

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress. Hi. I've recently been trying to play Metal Gear Solid 5 but every time I boot it up my PC either crashes as soon as the splash screens are done or after a few minutes. It's been crashing while playing other games as well but it's been much rarer. It's not a BSOD crash and it doesn't produce any crash dumps so I'm leaning towards it being a problem with either the PSU, the motherboard or one of the graphics cards. Any help with finding the cause of this would be appreciated.

The PSU model is fd-psu-newt2-800, the graphics cards are both Nvidia GTX760s and the motherboard is a ASUS Sabertooth Z77

Hi, paulpsb Lets give it a try. Attempt a System Restore to restore the computer to an earlier date throughout the Recovery Environment in your CD. If that does not resolve the issue, follow these steps. You will need a USB drive. (Despite the OS is Vista, it will also be nice to know if you have a Windows XP installation CD, as we can have other options to try.)Download GETxPUD.exe to the desktop of your clean computerRun GETxPUD.exeA new folder will appear on the desktop.Open the GETxPUD folder and click on the get&burn.batThe program will download xpud_0.9.2.iso, and upon finished will open BurnCDCC ready to burn the image.Click on Start and follow the prompts to burn the image to a CD.Next download driver.sh to your USB driveRemove the USB & CD and insert it in the sick computerBoot the Sick computer with the CD you just burnedThe computer must be set to boot from the CDGently tap F12 and choose to boot from the CDFollow the promptsA Welcome to xPUD screen will appearPress FileExpand mntsda1,2...usually corresponds to your HDDsdb1 is likely your USBClick on the folder that represents your USB drive (sdb1 ?)Confirm that you see driver.sh that you downloaded therePress Tool at the topChoose Open TerminalType bash driver.shPress EnterAfter it has finished a report will be located on your USB drive named report.txtRemove the USB drive and insert it back in your working computer and navigate to report.txt

My laptop, Packard Bell Easynote TM81, has been crashing and restarting by itself, and when it does, the ENTIRE system will not respond. So I try to format the entire thing, and after a few days, when I have gotten used to it, it comes up with a screen for 1 second, and all I could read was "system memory dump" and "CPU memory dump". So during this month, I have had to format the entire thing OVER AND OVER. I can't reinstall the system, because I am using a laptop, which comes with no Windows 7 CD. Please help!

A:Blue Screen - "Crash Dump"

hi re crash dump They can be found in c:\windows\minidump - get ALL of them regardless
of the number. You will have to copy them out to another folder before
you will be able to zip them up.
I would also appreciate obtaining an msinfo32 NFO file -
START | type msinfo32 into the start search box and hit enter.

The msinfo32 viewer will appear - allow it to gather system information
for a minute or so - then save it in NFO format. You will see the NFO
default file extension when you go to save it.

Please zip up the mini kernel dumps and the NFO file and attach it to
your next post. I will ask somone to look in on this thread and run them and see what he can find.

My Windows 7 Samsung laptop has started suddenly giving me a blue screen of death, and telling me something about a "crash dump." It starts some kind of disk countdown near the bottom of the screen, and all the while I get this alarming humming from the computer that doesn't sound good. I never let it go on long enough to figure out what the screen is all about, since I do a forced shutdown as soon as possible.

Any suggestions on what this is?

A:Blue screen - "crash dump"

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.

* Zip up the copy.

* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

I have a 3 wk old toshiba laptop. I ha e installed iTunes to tether with my iPhone and ha e been on the net a handful of times. I frequently get a blue screen that reads your computer had an error a d needs to restart. C:\Windows mini dump
c\users\jen\appdata\local\temp
C:\windows\memorydump. I have read in some forums that this is normal. Although I ha e a hard time bieving a new laptop should normally crash. Can you help me understand if I have a bad laptop or is this win 8 OS and how to correct it. If it is going to be a common problem I am thinking of getting another laptop with win 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings,

When my computer boots up, about 5 seconds after the desktop loads, my screen turns blue with the Physical Memory Dump Error

Stop: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xEDACCB75, 0xeB6E67F0, 0x0000000)

It boots up in safe mode fine, I have tried system restore and ran multiple virus/malware scans....now on my 3rd frustrating day.....

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi there,

searching through forums, I found that you solved a similar problem in another topic which is very similar to mine.
The error i get is: stop: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x80637625, 0xx5824799c, 0x00000000)

I have attached the last five minidumps. Help would be very appreciated, I have spent all day trying to fix this.

Thank you
Ernesto

A:Physical memory dump blue screen error 2

Though nothing was given as the definitive cause all your error codes were the same 0x*E. This code is almost always caused by hardware and is a strong indicator of corrupted memory.

Therefore we suggest that you run memtest on your RAM for a good solid diagnostic proceedure. We are not saying you have bad memory but with your error codes we need to rule it out or confirm.

See the link below and follow the instructions. There is a newer version than what is listed; use the newer. If you need to see what the Memtest screen looks like go to reply #21. The third screen is the Memtest screen.

Step1 - Let it run for a LONG time. The rule is a minimum of 7 Passes; the more Passes after 7 so much the better. The only exception is if you start getting errors before 7 Passes then you can skip to Step 2.

There are 8 individual tests per Pass. Many people will start this test before going to bed and check it the next day.

If you have errors you have corrupted memory and it needs to be replaced.

Step 2 ? Because of errors you need to run this test per stick of RAM. Take out one and run the test. Then take that one out and put the other in and run the test. If you start getting errors before 7 Passes you know that stick is corrupted and you don?t need to run the test any further on that stick.

A:Blue Screen Error. Please help. Mini Dump attached

Try stopping the tcpip service by going to Start> type in services.msc locate tcpip and stopping it. Try this in safe mode.

Also in safe mode with your Windows 7 disk

Go to command prompt (Run as Administrator) type in

SFC /SCANNOW.

Hey guys;

I was playing NHL 2005 and in the middle computer halted and blue screen error popped up. It said the computer needs to be turned off to prevent further damage to the computer.
The error was following:
***STOP: 0X00000008E(0XC0000090, 0X004B4BD8, 0XEE25885C, 0X00000000)

Beginning dump of physical memory.
Physical memory dump complete.............contact system adminstrator, etc.

What does it mean? How can I prevent it? Is it a dangerous error?

Any suggestions will be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

When I start my computer up outside of safe mode my computer will crash and go to the blue screen just seconds after start up. Error is STOP: 0x0000008e(0xc0000005, 0x80637625, 0xB786A99C, 0x00000000). I used to get these errors occasionally, now it is just constant, and I'm unable to even use my computer outside of safe mode, since it will crash in just seconds, regardless if I'm playing a game or not. I also get the bad pool caller error shortly after I scan with my anti viruses, though this has been happening for a longer period of time. Not sure if they're connected. How can I fix the memory dump error? It's driving me nuts.

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

Are you overclocking? If so, return the system to stock values BEFORE proceeding.

This is a STOP 0x116 error blaming your ATI video drivers. Recently I've seen similar issues with both the tcpip.sys error and the ATI driver error. Here's what I suggest:
- updateing all of your network drivers (both wired and wireless)
- updating your video drivers from the ATI website.
If you already have the most updated drivers, then you must uninstall them before installing a fresh copy.

You can find troubleshooting steps for a STOP 0x116 error here: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...eshooting.html

If that doesn't fix it, please post back and we'll start running hardware tests.
