Wi-fi connection disconnects for no reason...

Q: Wi-fi connection disconnects for no reason...

I am running Vista on my new HP tablet. For some unknown reason it disconnects about 3-4 times a day. Then informs me there are "no wireless connections available". I have to reboot for it to find the connection again. Seems to be worse when using Skype. Any ideas?

Preferred Solution: Wi-fi connection disconnects for no reason...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Internet connection can go for days with no problem and then for half a day will disconnect every few minutes The strange thing is that all I have to do to get it back is to disconnect the cable for reason no disconnects Internet from my computer and reconnect it and in seconds I have Internet again My internet provider cannot find a problem with the connection and all assume it has something to do with the modem or router but I cannot find any problem with them We have a router with computers connected to it and we have a static IP I have no rd party firewalls and like I said most of the week this doesn't happen I have read all kinds of solutions and have tried them all installing router modem windows updates etc Instead of trying to figure out what the cause is since my solution is taking out the cable and putting it back thus forcing a reconnection I wanted to ask if you know of any software that would monitor my internet connection and when it sees that it got disconnected it would force a restart of the connection like what I do manually by taking the cable in and out Thanks

A:Internet disconnects for no reason

Well, instead of manually taking the cable in and out, go into command promt (Start -> "cmd") and type "ipconfig /renew".

Have you tried scanning for viruses? In one case I had, an infected computer was attempting to attack other computers on the network, disconnecting them from the internet. Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or SUPER Antispyware.

A:Wireless disconnects for no reason .

Hi wayne123,

I would reccommend re-installing or updating your wireless card's driver, as a first step.

You can do this through the Device Manager.

So my pavilion was a gift back in August 2015 and about a month later the touchscreen stoped working at first I thught I had turned something off but it wasn't that. I upgraded to windows 10 thinking it would solve any issues but it didn't. Ive tried everything. Also about a two days ago my pc bagan to disconnect from the wifi at random now I know something is wrong. It was purchased at Famsa so i don't really know. I've check the properties and the touch calibration isn't even there. I've kept it clean and has no visible damage. Please I need the touch ability for school and there's no point in having bought a touch screen computer if it doesn't even work properly.

Hey, recently (today) the computer monitor will turn off and severe the connection between monitor and computer. That meaning the monitor doesnt show any thing on the screen (even though the computer is on) it will show what it usualy shows when the computer is turned off (red green blue, please check the power cable or computer is the message)

EXAMPLE: Im playing world of warcraft, boom screen goes blank and the monitor goes into its computer off state. I turn the monitor on and off but it doesnt do anything. The computer is still on and running.

Ohh yeah and i reseated the video card and switched the monitor, same thing is still happening.

A:Help! Computer monitor turns off and disconnects from computer for no reason.

If you have integrated video...try that and see if same thing. Just a thought. Could be the card. Reinstall video processor drivers. Give the machine a good general checkup. Does this happen when you're not playing a game? Or just when things are accelerated?

I have three computers in the same network.
One with wired ethernet, (notebook) with 802.11g, desktop with 802.11g. I have a WRT54G linksys router.
The laptop seems to "forget" its settings, and i have to reset, renew, and enable etc..... each time it starts up. It is running windows ME. Recently, both PCs on the WLAN reported "Not able to associate with access point". I did a hard reset on the cable modem and router. The laptop reported "connected to access point, but internet access could not be found", but the internet did work. On the other PC, i noticed that the laptop would only work if the PC had an automatically configured IP address. Now, finally after a lot of guesswork, and a lot of time, both PCs work. But I am sure after I restart the laptop, it will lose connection again...
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I am having a problem that when I connect to a VPN for work it disconnects my internet connection and I need to reboot the machine to the internet back again. I have tired to create a new VPN but the same thing happens, anyone out there that can help

A:VPN disconnects internet connection

You should probably contact helpdesk at work and get them to check your settings first. VPN connections are relatively complex, especially if you're using a non-default VPN client (something not built into Vista by default).

So i recently got Dell XPS 9530 with windows 8.1. The problem is that whenever I plug in my Android device (I have tried Sony Xperia, HTC One M8, Samsung S6) it keeps disconnecting. The problem exist with BlackBerry Classic, Passport and even Z10.

The problem persists even with harddisks though the connection drop doesn't happen that frequently but it happens.

I have tried updating my drivers, different cables and what not, but the connection isn't consistent. I have got my laptop's motherboard replaced twice, got my laptop replaced once and the problem is still there.

Anyways, If you guys have any thoughts or been there done that then let me know.

Appreciate your help.

I have a desktop in the basement of my house and we use a wireless internet connection. It worked fine forever, but then one night the power went out and now it disconnects all the time. I have no idea about computers what so ever. I know we have a modem that connects to a router and then theres little thing by the computer with 2 lights on it and when the lights go out the internet shuts off, it says d-link on that thing. And the computer is a dell. But I have no clue where to begin so if someone could give me some advice in like baby computer talk that'd be greatly appriciated

A:Wireless connection disconnects

I do not see anything that sticks out from the HiJackThis log.

I see this problem often. There seems to be many causes for this. I know that often Linksys routers will overheat--my advice is to make sure it isn't on top of your modem or anything that might provide excess heat.

Further, I would be most interested in the wireless network card. Have you made sure you have updates for it?

Also, have you tried running something like an streaming-audio player (i.e., iTunes) on some internet radio show to see if it keeps the connection active. Another idea would (if you have a Wireless G [WRT54G] router) be to turn on the logging feature to see when the connection drops and why.

Most likely, it will be something with the network card. But, there are other settings on those Linksys routers (like Beacon Interval) that can be modified to get it to work...

The last few weeks, if I am reading an article on yahoo that takes longer than two minutes, or click to read e-mail, then try to click back to Yahoo, or any of my favorites, the computer takes no action after it says "connecting to whatever" and locks up. Trying to go elsewhere, nothing will appear on the page but the "connecting to" at the bottom. Usually a restart is the only thing that will get it functioning again. Before this started, I made the mistake of trying IE 8. It slowed the computer to a crawl, so I removed it using Revo, and reinstalled the previous one, which seems to work except for this disconnect.

I have Vista home premium on my desktop PC and connect to a D-Link DSL-G604T modem router using a Linksys wireless-g PCI adapter. Some of the time, the PC will connect to the network but if it does, it usually drops out after 5 minutes and then I can't connect again. I get many different error messages each time:

Your modem or router is not available
Cannot communicate with DNS server (10.1.1.1)
There might be a problem with one or more network adapters on this computer
Windows has confirmed that this computer is currently experiencing a network connectivity problem
Connection Interupted
There has been an IP address conflict

My laptop can connect to to the modem fine and doesn't drop out when connected and there connection strength is very good from my desktop when it is connected.

Thanks in advance,

A:Wireless LAN disconnects just after successful RDP connection

Murphy's Law is alive and well. Not even an hour after posting this thread I found the answer myself. The issue was that my network connection was set to be available to myself only. Apparently this is the default setting, so I deleted and manually recreated the network connection so it's now available to all users and my RDP connection is just fine!

To give credit where credit is due, here's where I found the answer:

Hopefully this will help someone else in the future.

Long time with this issue and very frustrated My laptop is a Dell XPS running Windows -bit I just upgraded from Windows hoping that would solve my issue but it did not I even re-imaged my PC and the issue remained so I think it must be hardware related right My problem is that my ethernet connection via the USB gigabit adapter randomly disconnects The only way to re-establish the connection is to reboot When Ethernet 3.0 disconnects connection USB on randomly I reboot it takes about minutes before my login screen appears and I can get back to work I have worked with Dell Premium support and they have not been able to find the cause I have updated all my drivers multiple times I have tried adapters with different chip sets and the issue remains I have tried disconnecting my USB Ethernet connection on USB 3.0 randomly disconnects devices and only use the ethernet adapter and the issue remains I have tried disabling suspecting plug-ins and add-ins and can't find anything that resolves the issue I have tried using the event log to trace what may be happening and can't find anything useful I'm not totally clear on what to look for however Can anyone offer some guidance on how to troubleshoot this issue more effectively

Basically I've been having some issues with my internet connection, which strangely seem to occur when I'm viewing YouTube videos.

Each time I watch a video it works fine for a few minutes, then suddenly my internet connection drops. The status on my laptop still says "Connected" but I'm unable to load any pages, on any browser. The only way I'm able to get my internet connection back is to restart the computer.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

This may be the same issue as "Unable to browse websites, but can still ping." My laptop is new (Vaio - Windows Vista Home Premium) with nothing extra installed on it yet. If I connect to our linksys wirelessly I can then browse for a while, but ultimatly web pages will stop loading (or refreshing). "A while" can be anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 hours. When the "lockup" occurs the diagnostics cant find anything particularly wrong. Everything looks normal in the "Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center." If I wait in this state long enough the router <-> internet link eventually "breaks." Either way (wait or not) if I disconnect and reconnect to the network I am up and running again ... for 10 minutes to 3 hours. Reconnecting once per evening is a minor irritation. Every 10 minutes is unusable.

Any thoughs

This might be out on a limb here....need to know a little more about your network configuration. My initial suggestion would be to connect your pc with a cable to the router and perform windows updates. Originally I've found network related issues with Vista and after a few updates the problems were resolved.
And I'm sorry...I don't run a vista machine...I've worked on plenty...but I couldn't tell you from the top of my head where the windows update feature is located...maybe start icon...all programs still...
But try the updates and repost with your network configuration...it would be helpful...

Hi,
In the last 4-8 weeks i have noticed a trend that when any laptop detects a Network connection or disconnection it automatically launches the MSN home page on the browser
We have out local intranet set to home page. and MSN is popping up instead intermittently
Ive noticed this since we last updated our end users via WSUS.
We are all mostly running windows 8.1 x64.
To no success we have attempted this below:
Modify this registry key to 0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet\EnableActiveProbing
But it still reoccurs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

I have a Dell Dimension 8300 that's about 6 years old and recently I have been experiencing a problem where my internet connection will randomly disconnect. It almost always can be brought back by unplugging and reconnecting the ethernet cable in the back of my computer, or by unplugging it from the wall and reconnecting it. (Since my computer is on the second floor and the router and the modem are on the 1st floor, we run the cable from the router through the wall and to the 2nd floor). It also can be resolved by resetting the modem and router.

Anyway, I have had this problem a few times before, but they seemed to just go away, but it has resurfaced once again. Does anybody have any ideas of what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance!

This only started about 2 weeks ago- my internet connection used to be very fast. It is wireless and shares with 2 other computers. I noticed this when it started taking about 5 minutes for me to connect to Starcraft 2 and then when the internet would have to reconnect to my network. What could all of a sudden cause my internet to be so slow?

Hi,

I am having a big problem with my internet connection. I connect to the internet through a VPN connection to my university. However, each time I see a video on youtube (or elsewhere), listen streamed music or even talk using Skype, my internet connection disconnects immediately.

I have had this problem with Windows Vista, and now that I have installed Windows 7 the problem is still the same.

So for every kind of streaming my internet connection (through VPN) almost immediately disconnects.

Any hints about this ?

Thanks

A:Internet Connection disconnects when streaming (VPN)

did you contact your university help desk? Its possible they have it set to only allow certain types of traffic to pass. Another thing is dropped packets. If you drop too many packet its possible the vpn will drop and since streaming might be using potentially large amounts of bandwidth...

A:vbc.exe - any valid reason for net connection?

Vbc.exe is legitimate and if it is communicating with anything it's communicating with the microsoft debugging host.
I wouldn't be concerned about it unless it's just using a massive amount of bandwidth in which case it might indicate a more serious problem.

Hi there .. You should try just using the Virgin hub and see how the connections go ...You state you can not connect Wireless to the hub .. I find that kind of strange there must be a reason for that .. I would try sort that side of things out ... Your ISP should be able to help ..

A:Wireless Internet Connection Disconnects Intermittently

The ipconfig /all shows an apparently good connection to a wireless router or access point.

When these disconnects happen do the devices maintain communication with the router and with each other?

What do the LEDs on the router tell you?

Do you have a separate modem? If so, what do its LEDs tell you?

My friend has a DSL connection and about 90% of the time when he gets a phone call he gets droped from Xbox Live and he can't load web pages and his DL's stop. He is set up wirelessly however he changed the frequency's to make sure there were no interferences with cordless phones in the house. Is there anyway to fix this?

A:DSL connection disconnects when phones calls are recived

This is a classic case of improperly filtered DSL lines. You may have to change the wiring to the DSL modem and reconfigure the filters.

The way I install DSL is to run a home-run of twisted-pair (I use CAT-5 since I have it) directly from the telco service entrance to the DSL modem. I then split off the telephone circuit and install a single filter for the whole telephone side of the circuit. This avoids shipping the DSL all around the lousy telephone wiring, as well as the issues with multiple filters.

if you look at your T&Cs you will find you are most likely NOT allowed to do this - most ISP have terms which state that you can only use the service in ONE premise

unless you can show us that the ISP will allow this, we cannot help you here , and I will close the post

A:Solved: Internet Connection Frequently Disconnects

1. Personally I wouldn't operate any electronic device, certainly not a new one, without the proper power supply. Surely there is a long enough warranty to get that power supply replaced.

2. Try just using standard 802.11g until you get the problems ironed out. Then you can introduce MIMO and see if it improves or hurts.

3. If the AM200 modem/router is operating as a modem and router then the Belkin should be connecting with a dynamic connection. If the AM200 is bridged or whatever the term is to say that it is acting as a modem only then the Belkin router's connection must be whatever your ISP requires.

4. Don't know.

5. No difference, except that dynamic (automatic) are far more convenient.

Beyond the first 3 items you've identified (which you should take care of first), sometimes a router firmware upgrade and then reset it to factory default settings and reconfigure will help disconnect problems.

hi to everyone. my asus laptop model is N53S and its been disconnecting the wifi connection about 3 month. i dont think the problem is from router because all other devices like android phones and laptops are connected and working properly. my laptop used to disconnect every time that it was hit or i moved it.but now it is disconnected randomly about 5 or 6 times a day even if i dont move it. when its disconnected sometimes the red cross or a yellow triangle appears on the wifi connection and windows functions so slowly and noises starts everytime i try to hear anything. i have tried re installing the wireless adapter in the device manager but it havent been fixed. do you think the wireless adapter should be replaced? what is its problem?

We have a problem with the connection to our server. The server disconnects randomly from minutes to hours all day. I am at a remote location and connect via logmein to a local pc at the servers physical location to remotely control and connect to the server. A month or so ago the connection would drop every few minutes. The staff at that location replaced the switch and had the ISP tech check out the router. No problems were found. I think it is a problem with the server itself but don't know what it could be. Typically I can go through the login process and reconnect. I'm sorry I can't be more specific about the equipment since it is 40 miles away. Any suggestions on troubleshooting? Remotely?
Clearly I'm not a network guy.
Thanks for any help or direction

A:Wireless connection disconnects after a couple of seconds

Does the router belong to you or to the place you moved into? It mite be some form of mac filtering on the router itself, which prevents devices from connecting to the router without permission

Hello there,

I have an internal Western Digital HDD that I used to connect to my laptop via a sata to usb adaptor (company name: KONG). Recently it stopped working for no reason - I tried it in 2 PC's.

Any idea have to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Edit: http://yfrog.com/9d57841130p

A:Internal HDD usb connection not recognized for some reason

Does the drive still work on any SATA connector?
Those Sata 2 USB connectors are rather susceptible to static charges.

My roomate and I both connect to NetZero on the same phone line with computers which each have a 56K modem. My connection speed is always 115,000 while hers varies between 36,000 and 45,000. I can obviously surf much faster on my machine, but why is that?

A:Reason for different internet connection speeds?

The connection speed of "115,000" is the serial line between your computer and your modem, it has nothing to do with the speed between your modem and your ISP.

Can you really surf faster than your roommate? Try some internet speed test, preferrably one supplied by your ISP.

Hello, my internet is dropping it's connection for some reason every day, sometimes twice a day. When I try to reboot, it takes forever to reboot and sometime doesn't. Some times I have left it for 30 minutes and had to turn it off as it never rebooted.

Windows 7 Pro 64bit, all updates installed.
ZoneAlarm Security Suite, most recent version.
MBAM, most recent version.
Scans come up with nothing.
Running with a dynamic ip address, tried with static, same issue.
Other computers in the house have no connectivity issues.
Have swapped out the network cable with different one, same issue.

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks, Chris

A:Internet connection stops for no reason

Update, last time it dropped my internet, I rebooted, 15 minutes to logoff. Absolutely no connection this time. Disabled the onboard NIC and installed a PCI-E NIC card and it's working again.

Looks like it might be a hardware issue. I'll update as things progress.

Hi Jezuz,

Do you have a different system that connect on the same network and does the connection drops there as well.

When the connection drops what is the status of LEDs on the router. Also, check the system in safe mode with networking and let us know if there is a difference:

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

I can't seem to skype or video chat of any sort (ie: aim video chat, facebook video chat, etc.) on my computer. Whenever I start skype or try to start a video chat on aim/facebook, it fails and my internet disconnects for everyone. I don't know what could be wrong. Using the same wireless internet, my friends are able to video chat on their macbooks. It seems like my computer is the only one that can't video chat. Video chatting works when I use a sprint internet card. I have a sony vaio laptop running on windows 7. Our router in our apartment at school is a D-link wireless N? In addition to this problem, my internet loves to disconnect randomly too...this problem also persists at home with my Cisco Linksys router (model WRT160N V3) and Speedstream 5100 modem.

Please help! Thanx!

You have an outdated version of HijackThis. Download the newest version at http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/HijackThis.exe and run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Post the HijackThis log here.

Hi, I'm having this problem with my windows 7 OS Lenovo Ideapad Y450 laptop.
when i try to connect to the internet at home, it connects and before i could go into the internet browser, it drops again. this continues to happen for many times until i couldnt do anything with it.
what's the irony is that i have other laptops (vista OS) at home running with no problems , and when i am in school, my Lenovo laptop connects perfectly. no signs of dropping of connection at all.

A:Windows 7 connection drops frequently for no reason

get this free program called inSSIDer and run it on the laptop. Walk around your place and see where the drop it starts and ends. Then you need to buy a Repeater and place that in the dead drop zone. The repeater is 100% wireless no need for hard-wire cable from the router to it.

In the meantime make sure your router is reset and also have the latest firmware for it.

I have my PC and PS3 wired to a netgear router and a laptop connected wirelessly.

The laptop for some reason loses it's connection randomly and loses it's connection in 2 minute to 20 minute intervals. I sometimes have to manually reconnect to my router by searching for it and reconnecting in the Network and Sharing Center.

No idea why it's started happening now, I reset the router to factory settings recently because of the same problem a couple of days ago and it's still happening. The PC and PS3 work fine, just the wireless keeps dropping. Using Vista and I don't think it's the laptop as it can constantly see my neighbours connections, only my router is occasionally disappearing.

Any help is much appreciated.

A:Belkin N150 router disconnects my remote desktop connection

Make sure you have the latest router firmware; then reset the router to factory default settings and reconfigure it. (If you already have done both of these in this order you need not do them again.)

When you get a disconnect do the router (or modem) LEDs give any hint of whether the disconnect is between modem and router or between router and computer?

Consider that either of the ethernet cables may be defective.

rather than a pole, you need to give a lot more details

Make and model of the router
can other devices connect
how are you connected - wireless or cable
what device do you have - a PC, tablet, phone
What operating system OSX , Windows , IOS

So think about what someone who knows absolutely nothing about your setup would need to know , in order to help you

The problem is, yesterday I reinstalled my windows 7 (clean install) and today I wanted to connect my second PC (running win xp) to the internet through this PC (running win 7 ultimate), no router, just internet -> my pc -> my second pc thru another internet card, but on my second PC it is shown that its connected to my first pc, yet it has no connection.
Everything was OK before I reinstalled the windows.

Hi folks nbsp I'm running support on a system that relies exclusively on the Remote Desktop Connection Terminal Services client nbsp We have a pool of around Windows Ultimate machines that our users access by RDP through a connection broker nbsp What we've been experiencing for a number of users in encryption Data Remote causing error disconnects Desktop Connection some not all is that the users will be disconnected after receiving an error message that reads quot Because of an error in data encryption this Data encryption error in Remote Desktop Connection causing disconnects session will end Please try reconnecting Data encryption error in Remote Desktop Connection causing disconnects quot nbsp Some users are experiencing this on every single connection attempt Data encryption error in Remote Desktop Connection causing disconnects and can't access the remote desktop at all Others will only see this after their session has been running for some time and are doing work on the remote desktop nbsp The users can be running any OS from XP to and even some users are on OSX nbsp I have no specific info on their home setups nbsp Now before you go running off to a search engine I've already spent several hours combing over random forum posts technet bulletins and more nbsp I've already eliminated the following as solutions The host machines do not have x certificates to delete in the registry The host machines do not have ethernet adapters whose drivers allow for TCP IP offloading I can't discount the possibility the users have their computers in a DMZ but many of them aren't that familiar with networking Most of the posts I've been reading are useless to me because they discuss connecting to an actual server that is generating this problem nbsp I also know the connection broker is a likely candidate and we're addressing that nbsp It also doesn't necessarily explain why some users are unable to connect at all nbsp I can tell you that some of these errors are caused when the remote desktop screen undergoes a very rapid refresh much like what you would get for holding a PageUp PageDown button in a large document or is trying to display a large image nbsp I'm hoping that someone here may have some insight into what specifically may be causing these errors or has suggestions on ways to control the hosts more thoroughly with what I already have nbsp So Any suggestions nbsp Thanks everyone

Ugh I don t like it when I feel like a tech noob For several years my family has run an ADSL connection with Telstra on one of their stock Thomson TG T I think modem routers It F9J1002 N300 (01) connection drops ADSL reason Belkin v1 no apparent for had worked mostly fine for most of it s life with the odd bug Belkin N300 F9J1002 v1 (01) drops ADSL connection for no apparent reason and need for a restart Early January this year it started to Belkin N300 F9J1002 v1 (01) drops ADSL connection for no apparent reason drop the entire system s connection to ADSL it still considered everything to be connected to it and there was apparently Internet access but it was so incredibly slow that we pages and emails just sat on the same loading progress A simple flick of the switch would re-establish connection for the time being As time went on this became more frequent until it didn t fix the problem at all so we decided to get a new modem router On the old router we had about - devices hooked in three by Ethernet - via wireless I ll list them just to be on the safe side By WiFi laptops - Windows Windows Vista The Windows one is usually on in the afternoon the other is used probably once a day for emails Desktop PC running Windows Vista It is rarely used though iPad s School makes us have these and they are usually on - smartphones depending on the time of day And via Ethernet iMac - running OSX Lion This is almost always on but asleep I have run Minecraft servers on this in the past with no problems Epson Stylus TX W printer And on occasion Desktop PC running Windows XP I put the router needing a restart constantly down to old age because I figured that years of service wasn t terrible for a stock ISP router So we bought a new Belkin N300 F9J1002 v1 (01) drops ADSL connection for no apparent reason modem router a Belkin N F J v It has worked well for about months No complaints except video streaming is a bit slow even via the Ethernet connection I had occasionally run a Mincraft server on it but not often Then last Saturday I set up a Mumble server like TeamSpeak but open source on my iMac so my friends and I could enjoy low latency chat whilst playing League of Legends on my Windows laptop I also started playing that on the same day They had previously used Skype to play but Skype is a bit draggy on the latency and made everybody lag a bit and people kept disconnecting randomly on it Mumble also worked well for those who used it mostly LoL has been the first online game I ve played other than Minecraft for over a year since Star Wars The Old Republic which I dumped quickly because I decided to dislike MMORPGs I don t use an external static IP address so I signed up for a free dynamic address at www dnsdynamic org and downloaded their Windows GUI to change the IP assigned to my host name This worked for about a week until the router decided to almost completely stop the ADSL connection during a game Mum was trying to download emails at the time and she was most displeased It took me about minutes to get everything to go again I tried pulling the power on the router loading various web pages which didn t actually happen I eventually remembered being able to restart the router from the webpage GUI which I did and it worked I thought I had fixed it I thought it was either a router bug possibly a hardware or firmware problem but Mum was convinced that it was either my Mumble server or me playing LoL She has Dad convinced too This is not good because when we bought it I had told Dad it would do the job the sales clerk had convinced both Dad and Me that it was the best router brand and that Mb s would be fast enough for the rural Internet connection we have here so he bought it I hadn t at the time expected to be playing online games in the future otherwise I d have bought a dual brand router I was originally leaning towards a D-Link router The problem is I ve seen it lag up a heap and disconnect about times in the past days at inconvenient ti... I've always played Yahoo games and have never had any problems (except with Big Kahuna). Yesterday, I began having this problem: I would begin a game. Within a few seconds, I would be disconnected from the Yahoo server. Occasionally, I'd be able to play one round of cards before getting disconnected, but usually it happens within a minute.
I am connecting thru broadband. I have a new wireless router (no problem on my husband's computer). And everything else works great except for yahoo games. Got any ideas or advice?

Thanks.

Hey, this only started happening not too long ago, but what happens is I can connect onto msn properly, so I can sign in and stuff properly.
The thing is that msn gets disconnected every few minutes (I'd say at 10 minute-ish intervals).
So I get disconnected from MSN in the same way that you would if my internet got disconnected "Your connection to MSN has been lost" and stuff....
It never used to do this, and it's not my internet that disconnects but just msn
Please help

A:MSN Disconnects

I would contact MSN support to see if maybe there is a patch or an update to the MSN client? If your connection doesn't actually drop but only the software drops than I would definitely get in contact with MSN support.

I really more Lag, disconnects and lag, hope this is the right place for this Recently we switched from DSL to cable internet and Lag, more lag, and disconnects cable tv from satellite at the same time It took us six days for them to finally get things straightened out so that we actually HAD internet so from the beginning our patience was being tried with them Anyway the cable finally started working we got it networked the modem allows computers to be plugged into it directly so as to not need a router but for some reason his computer won t work plugged directly into it while mine does and things were great for maybe minutes when the first lag out happened The online light never goes off on the modem but no web pages will load For the past month this has been happening - things are fine then suddenly they start loading really Lag, more lag, and disconnects slowly then they don t load at all Sometimes messengers and WoW will disconnect but not always It s very confusing At first we thought that it might be the router so we bought another router It helped a tiny bit or seemed to at first but it s still happening Yes it happens when I m plugged directly into the modem as well Help Someone said we needed a filter put on the line I know the tech guy who set things up said he didn t put one on the poll so we d have more channels since we had to help him run the line to our house one reason I m not calling them I don t want to get him in trouble but would the cable filter and the filter for the internet be the same Or should there be another filter inside coming off the splitter Our cable runs into a splitter then one line goes to the cable box and one goes to the cable modem Arris Touchstone CM a Cable modem - Belkin Surf Wireless router - two computers plugged in via ethernet mine Windows his Windows XP sorry should have put this in networking probably I can t move or delete it fail nbsp

I'm having problems with IE7 when browsing the internet it will disconnect you after looking at a few pages.

If you open up a new IE it works fine then after a few pages it's disconnects again.

The computer also has Firefox and it won't connect at all.

A:IE 7 disconnects

Go to "Tools" select "Internet Options". In the Security tab click on "reset all zones to default level".

If things still don't work right, in Internet Options on the Advanced tab click the "Reset" button. This will bring IE7 back to "factory fresh" but you won't lose favorites.

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

Networking is a known issue in Windows 10. You can try to reinstall your networking driver, but you will otherwise need to wait for a Windows Update.

IE Version: 7.0.5730.13
OS: XP
Internet: Cable, wired connection to my computer from a router.

When I open IE, it doesn't load a page. It says connecting, but nothing loads. I have tried toying with the settings in Tools>Internet Options>Connection. Sometimes after I try to Setup a new connection it will work after closing and reopening IE, but I can't find a pattern to it. I was using IE6 when the problems appeared. After installing IE7, the problems remained.

This problem appeared right about the same time I started having random disconnection issues with Firefox. I have loaded new Firefox profiles and have had some limited success alleviating the Firefox issues, but the IE problems remain.

Firefox is my main browser, but I need IE to view Instant Watch Netflix movies.

Any ideas?

According to your words i assume , your are facing connectivity issue with the Internet explorer 7 , But firefox is working fine .
There might be some issue with the settings of the internet explorer , to resolve this open internet explorer , go to Tools > Internet options > Advance and click on the Reset .it will reset all the settings of the internet explorer .
this will solve your issue .

I m having a problem with random disconnects on my desktop It is connected via ethernet to a Belkin brief Sporadic, disconnects. WRTR G v which is connected to a Scientific Atlanta DPC I am Sporadic, brief disconnects. in the United States with Comcast as my ISP The affected computer is running windows XP sp My LAN card shows up as an Intel PRO Management adapter Now that you have my info here is my problem every minutes more or less I get disconnected from the internet The disconnects probably only last a few seconds or fractions of a second but it is enough to both knock me off of my IM client and Team Fortress I used to have a problem like this with my onboard LAN Then I started using a USB wireless adapter It had problems with disconnections because of how far I am from the router I assume the disconnects were much fewer and further between than with the onboard LAN though But even that wasn t bearable so then I took this network card out of one of our older computers we aren t using and it worked beautifully for a good - weeks Last week is when these problems started I ve already checked to make sure all of my cables are plugged in tight and reset both TCP IP and WINSOCK to installation defaults Still no luck Any idea what the problem is Does my computer just like to mess up LAN cards nbsp

This is something that s been troubling me for about a week now Since about Wednesday last week my internet DSL 15-20 every minutes disconnects had been going excruciatingly slow by this i mean a site would take anywhere between seconds and minute to download and that s if I m lucky enough not to get a timeout error Anyway that small annoying yellow bubble popped up in the bottom-right of my screen saying something like quot Your computer s IP address is conflicting with another one on the network quot So i told this to a friend on msn who talked me through a method of changing my IP address via command prompt After a quick router restart and computer restart i couldn t ping my old IP address so DSL disconnects every 15-20 minutes it had DSL disconnects every 15-20 minutes changed grin Since then my internet connection cuts out every - minutes It s only happening with my computer as the iMac and other Laptop on the wireless connection are still getting full speeds and are not being disconnected So what could be wrong I m using a BT Voyager Wireless ASDL Router When the internet s working all of the lights stay green however when it cuts off the DSL light flashes slowly then quickly lasts about minutes then it goes back to solid green when i can reconnect It s really quite frustrating If you need to know any more information i d gladly provide details because i ve had enough laugh nbsp

Hello and thank you,
It seems that every three or four hours our computer will just lose all connection, even the modem shows we don't have one. We have had four cox repairmen come, and all claimed they had fixed a simple problem. They didn't. So whenever this happens all we can do is wait or repeatedly unplug and plug stuff. Obviously we have no clue what is going one. Can somebody help.

I have a cisco asa- that was setup by someone else I am not too familiar with this router or even asdn I currently have a mbps up down wireless internet connection hooked into it Its decent and with a full network I can usually download quickly enough kb and upload is decent too compared to DSL or lightweight cable in our area I have vpn access setup from home and modified the host file in windows xp on my laptop for mapping IP to computer names I found that if I did not do this Disconnects ASA-5505 VPN I ASA-5505 VPN Disconnects could not connect to my exchange server as outlook will always try ASA-5505 VPN Disconnects to resolve IP to name even if you specify IP when setting up an exchange account would pass initial send receive setup but then when outlook actually loads the first thing it does is try to resolve the IP I typed to a name in the account setup so this was my reasoning for the hosts file I can connect to my exchange server fine now and I can dial in to machines on the network with remote desktop etc however when using outlook I get intermittent disconnects freezing clicking on menus causes program is not responding etc most notably when sending receiving emails even when small and sometimes for no apparent reason I get the little pop up that says trying to connect to exchange server right before everything freezes up My initial though was to use offline mode etc but then for some reason I cannot connect to a shared calendar unless I remove cached mode and disable offline use ENTIRELY For remote desktop I can work fine of the time Sometimes I will be working and RD will freeze for - seconds as if it is trying to quot catch up quot - best I can describe it Occasionally it has actually lost connection and popped up the notification that it will try and reconnect etc but usually it would only pop up the disconnect message if I am running some serious processes in SQL on the remote machine that take a weekend to finish Otherwise it would just freeze up every now and then just enough to be terribly annoying if I am actually trying to get some work done I did some reading around and read online that reducing the MTU both directions may improve VPN performance in certain situations I tried reducing the inbound outbound MTU on the asa from to for the inbound outbound and my internet access on the local network went from good to practically nothing for users for example it would take a minute to load a page such as yahoo so I immediately set it back to and everything went back to normal I also tried changing the firewall down from how I found it to with the same result I was then going to try reducing just the inbound to and leave the outbound at but got some flak for screwing around with the router etc so I figured it was a good idea to stop playing around for now So before I go and try any additional trial error I was hoping to get some insight on possible mis-configurations of my setup rather than continue to shoot in the dark at the problems nbsp

I'm not sure if you can help me with this but here goes. I play world of warcraft and I have a dial-up connection, at the beginning I didn't have alot of problems but after buying a new and faster computer I now get disconnected about every 30 minutes or so. This has become a very regular and very annoying thing, I can surf the web all day and not get disconnected but as soon as I log on to play I start getting regular disconnects from the internet. I dont know if this makes a difference but I always get a little blue and white box that says network connections failed. Please let me know your suggestions I have tryed calling blizzard and my ISP provider and neither helped.

And I am unable to play. How can I fix this?

I have a Compaq Presario-AMD Athlon 64-3500+-512mb-200gb. Running windows xp sp3, updated and malware clean. I am stuck with dialup connection until [email protected] upgrades our area. I sometimes leave my pc running a download all night. I usually use orbit downloader but some downloads work better with no manager. Since I reinstalled windows my connection gets disconnected at at different times and redials the connection, but only at night when I leave it downloading a large file. In internet connection I have checked "never dial a connection". It is just an annoyance but I would like to fix it. Any help will be appreciated. I forgot to say that I use IE7 and have tried connection keeper ( with same results). Tried firefox several times but it was slower than IE on my pc. Thanks again. Lots of good advice on this site.

I run a small workgroup and have one PC that persistently cannot be accessed or even viewed on the running network. Eventually I tracked the problem down to non-running Workstation and Server services on that PC. If I manually set the startup mode to Automatic and start these services on the PC, then all is well; but on the next reboot, they are stopped again. Also, trying to manually start the Firewall/ICS service gives an "error 5: Access denied" - although the account is an administrator account. Have scanned for virus and spyware, all OK. Any ideas?

A:PC disconnects itself from the network!

Let's give this a try, can't hurt.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

Crazy problem here. I have set up three new Dell computers with Win XP Pro to connect online to Win2K Server. Everything hooks up and works great until I reboot the machine. When this occurs, nothing connects back to the network. I can ping ok etc but the mapped drives never come back up. I have spent an entire day trying to get this one cleared up but to no avail. I can ping the server, the gateway etc and have great internet access and email access. Just can't see the server.
Any suggestions appreciated.

By the way on the Network Disconnects problem. I also have 15 Win2K machines running without a flaw. Just had to add a few new computers to the network.

Again tks

Hi guys,

For the past month or so AIM has been disconnecting me at seemingly random intervals. Sometimes it'll happen twice in two minutes, then be fine for an hour, then start acting up again... you get the idea. This only happened after I came home from college for the summer, which makes me think it's the home network and not my computer causing this. I've tried the regular AIM client, Trillian and Pidgin to connect with, and they all have this issue. Other Internet functions aren't affected when this happens--I can continue browsing webpages just fine, and the network icon in the system tray shows that I am still connected.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2, and am on a wireless connection via a Linksys WRT54G router. I've forwarded the necessary ports through the router and this still happens. I've also tried temporarily disabling the router's firewall--no dice. Any other things I could try?

A:AIM disconnects randomly

Update on the situation:

I've tried some other things, and the problem persists whether or not my antivirus is running. The problem also crops up much more often at night, which would perhaps suggest a traffic problem with AIM, but if it's kicking me off that often because it can't handle its own traffic it and I have a problem. I've also had problems with webpages not loading on the first try, but when I refresh the page it loads fine.

Personally, I suspect the router may get overheated by nighttime and start dropping certain connections. I only notice when it drops AIM because the dropout is so brief that I'm usually not loading a new webpage or performing other internet tasks at exactly the same moment it occurs, but sometimes I do catch it, hence webpages sometimes loading and sometimes not. AIM notifies me when it goes offline, so it's more noticeable there. Any technical people want to tell me if this makes sense?

(edited for typos--I really shouldn't post things at night)

For as long as I remember my Lenovo G580 would randomly stop recieving an internet connection from my wifi, leaving it still connected but without the ability to go online. I have been solving this problem by disconnecting and recconecting from the wifi, however this has been a temporary solution as the problem keeps coming back. I know this is a problem with the computer because it never happens with the other lenovo laptops in the house nor the phones connected to the same wifi. Im monitering this post so if you reply expect a response very soonThank you for the help

Hi LA314 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You may try unchecking power saving features on WLAN properties under device manager and likewise place any similar roaming aggressiveness / tendency to highest .

Update us how it goes.

Experts can you help me We have several devices in the household that use our wireless router All seem to connect ok all of the time except this computer This computer works fine most of the time but I get random disconnects I can solve it instantly by disabling and then renabling the adapter I Random Disconnects have tried putting a direct wired connection to the route on the computer but the problem of disconnects has remained I note that in the event viewer when a disconnect happens I get the following message Name resolution for the name Random Disconnects csi gstatic com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded The web address above is just an example it happens for whatever I am looking at when the disconnect happens The event ID is I have done various things many of which I cant even remember now including the default DNS server value I am suspecting that there might be a memory issue or a motherboard issue Does anyone know anything else I might be able to try Many thanks

A:Random Disconnects

If it's a motherboard issue...you may be able to circumvent it by simply replacing or adding the wireless adapter.

The fact that other systems have no problems seemingly indicates that the problem lies with your system.

A new adapter would allow focusing on whether it's a motherboard problem or not.  A wired connection would probably do the same.

Okay, I have this very frustrating problem of disconnects. It started like a week back. At first i thought its my isp/ router but my roommates dont experience any disconnects whatsoever.

I formatted my PC, thinking maybe its a corrupted file somewhere and it worked well for 3 days. No disconnects at all. And now its back.

Its especially frustrating when I am playing an online game, is it my NIC card? software issue or what? any help would be appreciated.
