Preferred Solution: closing programs?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I would be happy to focus on the many others who are waiting in line for assistance. Please perform all steps in the order they are listed in each set of instructions. Some steps may be a bit complicated. If things are not clear, be sure to stop and let me know. We need to work on this together with confidence. Please copy and paste all logs into your post unless directed otherwise. Please do not re-run any programs I suggest. If you encounter problems simply stop and tell me.When you post your reply, use the button instead. In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see the button. Click on this then choose Immediate E-Mail notification and then Proceed and you will be sent an email once I have posted a response. If you do not reply to your topic after 5 days we assume it has been abandoned and I will close it.When your computer is clean I will alert you of such. I will also provide for you detailed information about how you can combat future infections.I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so.Now let's get started ===================================================Now that I am assisting you, you can expect that I will be very responsive to your situation. If you are able, I would request you check this thread at least once per day so that we can try to resolve your issues effectively and efficiently. If you are going to be delayed please be considerate and post that information so that I know you are still with me. I have Limewire Pro insalled on my PC, I have had it for a very long time.

I have noticed that today, every time I go to open it (even after uninstalling and redowninging and reinstalling) it will open for a split second in the Task Manager view and then close itself.

The same is going on with internet explorer ( i am using FF now ). I open Internet Explorer and try to use it, and it just closes after attempting to open a site.

Also, I have scanned my PC with Norton 360 (newest norton suite) and it didn't find anything.

THe last thing, I recently had my RAM replaced in my Laptop because a stick went bad. IT was causing the DELL loading screen to freeze. It's happening again every once in a while when I turn on my PC, why?

=( Help me please!

A:Programs Closing

Hi,

Never heard of something like this, but the Graphics Card situation sounds familiar. I doubt your GPU is causing your programs to close though. Here's what I would do if I were in your shoes:

Uninstall and reinstall your GPU. Grab the latest drivers and make sure they are properly installed.Run an antivirus check. I personally recommend Malwarebytes Free.

Hope this helps.

On my old system (Win-98) I could close programs by doing Control-Alt-Delete. On Win-XP when I try to do this, a box pops up that only gives me the option to connect or logoff. There is no list of programs running. I must be looking in the wrong place! - Still a computer idiot - thsh6

Some programs (currently hl.exe is doing it :/) are just not closing right. I end them with task manager and they dissappear from everywhere but Task manager, where they stay no matter how many times i click end process. I tried through command prompt, it said it terminated the process, but it just stays in the task manager process list. I also tried through EndItAll, which told me it didn't have permission to kill the program.

Im currently using XP SP2...

A:Programs not closing

hl.exe is a half life executable. Go into your options in the game and see if there is an option to enable/disable auto updates etc.. make sure all options for things relating to HL running at startup are disabled... it could just be memory leak, are you current with all patches/updates for your game?

reasons?:

i recently installed a new fan into my computer with LED lights, could it be because of this?

i also recently installed windows blinds.

The other day I was burning a CD on RealOne Player and all of a sudden, the window closed out. First, I thought there was just some kind of weird, minor mishap. But later, I tried opening AOL instant messenger and it stayed open for 3 seconds and closed out. This also happened with RealOne, and my attempts to Install a newer version (2004) of Nortons Antivirus only lasted until the "Would you like to activate and register now?" screen, which was 3 seconds into installation. Something keeps closing my programs. I also cannot stay long in the Add/Remove Files window. I just installed Bullgard and it detected:

C:\RECYCLER\NPROTECT\00008457.EXE=>(FSG 1.33)

Status: Infected Backdoor.Agobot.3.Gen

in which the file was "infected" and was unable to be disinfected. Nortons 2003 did not pick this up. Is there any other way I can rid my programs of closing themselves

I bought a new computer a couple of days ago and I am experiencing a very interesting problem. Anytime I return to the computer after taking a break from work my monitor shows "No Sync", so I move the mouse and my desktop shows only the desktop versus the programs that I had opened before I went to take my break. As long as I am working on the computer I experience no problems. The problem only seems to arise when I take a break and come back to the "No Sync" on my screen. Could one of the computer's power saving modes be doing this?

Hello,
I have a problem which started recently. The problem is that everything closes unexpectedly.
I am using the classic desktop environment to use this system and all the 'apps' I use a classing Windows programs.
Randomly all of the programs that are running on the machine close down without warning (And I mean ALL of them, even explorer.exe). I know that this has not been caused by a recent installation of a program as I have not installed anything recently. I also checked the computer with an Anti-Virus software as that could have been a cause but there wasn't anything.

Im not sure if anyone has experienced this issue as I did not find anything through Google

Does anyone know how can I solve this?

Thanks,
Oskar

A:All Programs Closing

All programs close but windows does not shut down? Just stays at desktop?

Do a malware/spyware check.

Spybot search and destroy

If spybot does not clear the problem then download and run COMBOFIX

Lets start from there..

I have been having problems with programs closing unexpectedly on their own without any error message. They will run normally for a few minutes and then just close down. I also have trouble when I run my TrendMicro antivirus, it will run for a few minutes and then I get

Application popup: UfNavi.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x........" referenced memory at "0x........". The memory could not be "read"

where 0x........ is a random address that's different each time.

I can't run any scans because they don't have enough time to finish before the program closes itself down. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am using Windows XP SP2

Hello, I don't know if anyone can help me but any time that i go onto my laptop it closes down every program after 5 seconds with the message 'This program has encoutered and error and has to close do you want to send an error message' after this the program closes down. I don't know what to do. also whenever i turn my computer off it suddenly goes after logging off and shows that it's shutting down, it shows me a blue screen error and then restarts. I have tried a system restore and i don't know what to do. The only program that i can get running for a long time is realplayer when it automatically starts playing a dvd. The laptop is a Acer Aspire 5610 media center edition. i have already tried malwarebytes to no effect.

A:all of my programs keep closing.

Is the only error message you receive...what you quoted in your first post?

Do you have a Microsoft XP install CD? Do you have recovery/restore CDs provided by Acer?

Hi All I have a question that I have been unable to solve but first I will start off by saying I am running boot camp on a mac just so there is no confusion I am an architecture student and am using a program called Revit to render D models regularly Due to the long render times find myself stuck waiting many hrs up to many days with my computer tied up rendering Recently after a lapse in smart thinking my without closing programs? Restart battery went dead and I thought I had lost hrs of rendering time I then disappointingly restarted my computer to restart the render but found that Windows had saved as a last effort to maintain my program files and unsaved data the progress of the render and it continued upon reboot My question is is there a way to mimic this on demand so that I can boot into osx without having Restart without closing programs? to wait for renderings to finish or close them prematurely Thanks for your help

A:Restart without closing programs?

As far as I know, Boot Camp is the 'Mac version' of dual booting, correct? In that case, the short answer is no; if you switch to OSX, you will have to shut down or hibernate your Windows installation.

However, something you can try is using virtual machines. This way you can have OSX as your main system, and have Windows run on a virtual machine inside OSX, allowing you to switch between the two as you please.

I have a rogue application that fires up every now and then. It will minimize my games and show something with no name in my taskbar for just a second, and then disappear. Leaving me at my desktop. I have run loads of virus scanners, ad-aware, spybot... yadda yadda.. I just want to find a simple and free program that I can run for 30 minutes to catch the little bugger. Where I can look at what is launching and where it is. I posted my hijackthis report, plus the steps I have taken to squash this annoyance thus far in the hijackthis loads forum here... http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/83520/mystery-program-minimizing-full-screen-apps/ Thank you in advance.

Hi Having Googled for hours trying to find a solution I m still stuck Programs on my computer randomly close themselves It does not seem to be related to anything in particular and can happen ?! Themselves Programs Closing Randomly at any time They are NOT crashing simply closing without a trace The two programs which appear to be affected by this I have noticed so far are Winamp and ABC I have Programs Randomly Closing Themselves ?! recently upgraded to Winamp from Winamp and also recently started running NetLimiter v The programs which close do not need to be in focus Winamp is usually minimised but has closed both when up on screen and when minimised ABC is usually minimised to system tray but has also closed both when up on screen and when minimised to tray When Programs Randomly Closing Themselves ?! the programs close they appear to close at the same time What is extra odd is that ABC prompts a confirmation before closing which never appears when it closes by itself It even does this on Windows shutdown I am running Windows XP Pro SP pretty much a fresh install fully formatted only weeks ago Here s the programs which are usually running on my computer Gmail Notifier Wonderful Icon AVG Antivirus Free Edition v nVidia NVMixer Tray Icon DU Meter SpeedFan Steam MSN Messenger NetLimiter B ABC mIRC Any suggestions etc are welcomed This one has me completely stumped EDIT ABC has closed itself without Winamp closing so perhaps they do not close at the same time Also explorer ie the start bar and all my desktop items has closed and restarted prompting no error message I do not know if that is related or just a coincidence but it seems odd I didn t get a Send Error Report crash responce from Windows I m considering formatting my computer again I really don t want to do that though as I have s of GB of stuff I need to back up and restore nbsp

Hello, I have recently re-imaged my laptop after it was experiencing a few lag issues but I believe it is more along the lines of RAM (besides the point). I have installed Norton 360 and this was about my third re-imaging of this particular laptop (2 years old). Whenever I open a full screen program after a certain time (30-90 minutes) the program automatically closes without any error dialogs. Nothing happens before or after this anomoli and I would appreciate if someone could give me their two-cents. I DO have a partitioned drive expanded off of my C: drive.

What I think:
I don't believe it to be malware because I just re-imaged.
It could deal with memory like a memory leak of sorts but I'm not sure if that makes sense.
OS: Windows Vista (Upgraded SP2)
RAM: 1500MB
Processor: 1.73 GHz 1.73 GHz Intel Celeron M

A:Automatically Closing Programs

hello

you asked for two cent's worth, I would start by uninstalling norton (as a test) and be sure to use the proper removal tool!

next: if you reimage a drive with an infected image, couldn't you still be infected?

If you have the recovery discs, I think theres a memory test under startup repair...http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/repair-windows-with-windows-startup-repair/

alright thats my 2 cents worth!!

good luck

Everytime I open a certain program on my computer, I get this message:
"Studio program file has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
And then the program closes abruptly. Any ideas on how i can stop this?

A:How to stop programs from closing on their own?

There is a problem with the install of the program. Some files may be corrupt. Uninstall the program using Revo Uninstaller Do the advanced method and remove any leftover files from the Registry. restart the computer. then reinstall the software program. Look to the web site of the software manufacturer for an updated version.

A:Programs Closing due to APPCRASH

Initial troubleshooting steps for Explorer related issues:Check Windows for corruption. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.

I am glad to see you ran a virus scan; the problem you describe is often associated with viruses/malware on the system. You should also download and install Malwarebytes, update it, do not start the free trial, and then run a full scan.

Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup and see if a startup or service item is causing conflicts. When you disable startup and services items, make sure you hide all non-Microsoft services first. Leave only your Norton software set to start in both startup and services.

Check your Administrative logs for errors and warnings:Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator

I downloaded ad aware and was advised when doing it to close any programs
running, before installing it.

I knew how to do this on my old Win 95 but not sure how to on XP.

( just another dumb question, that the easiest to answer)

Thanks for any help.

A:closing programs in windows XP

You're probably ok installing it without ending anything but here's how to do it. Press Alt/Ctrl/Del and Task Manager should appear. Click on the "Applications" tab and you can end them from there ...

Hi Room this is my first post!

Must say its really great to find a good IT forum on the net.

Anyway I have just recently purchased Win XP Pro SP2 OEM with a new Hard Drive (200GB Seagate). Unfortunately I seem to be having one problem after another.

One of my problems is whenever I close a program it remains in my Task List using up some of my system memory. I have carried out several windows updates in the hope that one would contain a fix for the problem, but no luck. I am at the moment running SFC to see if that will sort the problem.

Has anyone got any ideas as to how this problem can be resolved?

Thanks in Advance

I just recently got this BSOD right after I played the Sims 3. I was about to shut down my machine then suddenly the screen went blue.

Help

One more thing, after I clicked the SF diagnostic tool, I got this Microsoft.net error. What should I do?

A:BSOD after closing all the programs

It looks like your BSODs are being cause by avast! and Speedbit Download Accelerator:

Please remove Avast! using the avast removal tool, then replace it with a combination of Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Anti-malware. Tip when installims Malware bytes be sure to uncheck the box asking you to start a free trial.
Next run the system file checker to help check for any file system corruption that may have occurred due to avast!

Has anyone else noticed this,

I am using a browser, and for example looking at the forum here. When I close the browser without logging out from the forum and then restart the browser I am still logged in.

This never happens with Vista, I always have to login again

Does seven not close the programs properly to speed up the re-opening??

Does this not infringe on some aspect off security? Not for me I am the only user

Could this be a bug?

This works for both IE and Firefox

Hi Pooch,

When you logged in for the first time at the forum did you by any chance leave the remember me checkbox?

I am always logged in automatically at home, but on non secure locations I uncheck the option so as the site asks me to log in each time

A:Closing programs is very slow

Sounds like there's something else that's eating away at your computer. You might want to run a virus scan (http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/) to see if that's the case.

Hello all My PC makes me mad it seems like I've been having problems with it ever since I bought it some years ago I guess Anyway this time it's even more annoying than most other problems I've had it crashes when I close some programs especially those that are using a lot of RAM The typical case is when I close Firefox I usually have at least tabs currently open at once and according to task manager which I always have open FF usually takes up about Mo of RAM or is that bytes I'm not very computer-savvy I have Go of RAM installed though IIRC due to Vista limitations only are effective But I'm digressing the point is when I close Firefox it well closes I mean the window but the process is still active in the task manager and after a few seconds my PC crashes I think it sometimes gives me the BSOD but most of the time the screen goes black and nothing happens anymore with my PC still on Did some tests with other relatively high memory usage programs and sure enough when I close them my PC crashes Weirdly enough it does it too when I close the Windows Picture Gallery or whatever the default picture viewing tool is called in English I'm using Vista in French Hope someone can help

Hi, my computer just recently started acting up, whenever i open up a program. It works for a little bit, then i start to use it, it freezes up and i get a (NOT RESPONGING) next to the program name. I go to task manager and try to shut it off manually, but i get the end task warning screen with a yellow exclamation point in the bottom right hand of the program icon. The message says that closing this program may cause immediate instability on your computer . . . Then, my computer totally freezes and i have to maunally turn it off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

anyone can teach me how to make it not closing itself?

A:programs auto closing

Are you entering cmd from run new task? If so it should stay open until you close it.

Likely malware. Try scanning using a tool such as MalwareBytes.

You should boot into Safe Mode and perform the AV and malware scan.

I have done everything I can think of.
malware scan.
updated my windows drivers.
restarted.
closed unneccessary processes.
defragged my computer.
everything.
im running the panda virus scan right now.
my problem is that some programs wont start, such as avg virus scan and others.
and also, programs such as winamp wont stay open. it will run for about two minutes, and then give me the "send error report" prompt.
also, whenever i go to a new website, it asks me to accept a license.
i tried running a windows media file on winamp on accident, and that's where it started.
i deleted those files from my computer, yet the problem still exists.
i've uninstalled and reinstalled winamp, nothing happened.

can someone help me?

much appreciated.

Well, I've had problems with the stupid license thing before too and there's one thing to check that might fix alot of things. When I had the license problem it was because my PC clock had been set back alot of years, I know it sounds awkward but that's what happens, so check your PC clock year and switch it back if it was changed. If that's not it post back.

P.S. You shouldn't have Panda AND Avg installed, it should be one or the other because they cause problems with each other, just like most Anti virus when you put more than one on.

I can make a video and upload it and show you what happens when I start mIRC if you want, please help, I don't want to have to re-install Windows XP, so if anyone has a fix please tell me.

Post a Hijackthis scanlog and also run eventvwr.msc and look at the applications log; if you have IE7 there is also an IE log.

Double click any relevant errors to read the description and use the double-paper copy icon to copy the description here for pasting.

Download and install HijackThis using the "self extractor". Run it and select "do a system scan and save the log file". Then copy/paste the contents of the log to a reply

In Edge for instance if I double click on the top part to full-screen the page a message pops up asking if I would like to close all tabs, this message could pop up any time I click anywhere but it occurs 100% of the time if I double click the top.

League of Legends clients will flicker on the taskbar as if something is trying to close the program but failing, and occasionally it will close itself with no warning, same with a lot of Steam games, any other browsers, or most programs I try. I just recently reset my computer attempting to fix the issue but the problem is still there, any help is greatly appreciated

A:Programs are Randomly Closing Themselves

Start Task Manager from the taskbar, click on More details if it is showing no tabs. Then click on the Startup tab. Disable all programs there from auto starting and see if the problem continues.

Is there a way to force Windows to save a programs progress (ie a rendering program such as Revit) and restart, similar to the actions it takes before the computer shuts down after the battery has died?

A:Restart without closing programs?

Hi Jeff M,

Welcome to the forums.

The best i can come up with is this - Restart or Shutdown Windows Without Loosing Running Programs - Cache Programs State

Don't know if it will work but this is the only thing i can find on google.

I have a couple of downloaded games from AOL/Pogo that don't close when I close them. My system gets really boggy and when I go to task manager I see that the game program is still running and consuming a lot of memory. When I "end task" everything frees up beautifully. Aside from uninstalling the games, any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi Guys, I am using another computer to explain the issues with mine..
I am not sure I am in the correct area but if not please direct me.
When I open anything on my computer it freezes solid and I can't close it at all.
The only way to close the program is ctl, alt. delete...

I did a defrag also a malware run and all my updates are to date..
The computer is running Vista if that makes any difference.

So can you please put me on the right track to getting this problem fixed..?

Thank You

Maj

Hi Monica and wlecome to the forum!Sounds to me like you are infected with something. For starters, download install, update and run both MalwareBytes AntiMalware and SuperAntiSpyware. Get the free versions and do the complete scans with both. This could take a while so go kill some time while they are scanning.Remove all elements found and reboot if prompted to do so.If this does not clear up your issue let us know so that we can get you moved to the Malware Response Team.

With vista and previous OS's it was easy to just right-click a program on the taskbar and hit the letter "c" to close it. you could very rapidly close a series of windows from the taskbar.

now in win7 x64 when i right click a program in the taskbar and hit 'c' it simply highlights the "close window" option... requiring me to either have to hit enter or click on the selected option "close window"

is it possible to have things work like they used to ?? such that a right-click and then the letter 'c' would close the window without any additional input ?

thanks in advance

I have a very important document saved on Pinnacle Studio 14- using Windows Vista, excuse me if this is in the wrong section of the forum.

I have my file completely edited-worked a long time on it, but whenever I go to render the file it says to me "Studio program file has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I really need a solution to this problem. Im not looking to download any software- just general tips. Thanks

Hey guys I just joined this forum after installing Windows over my Windows XP which gave me absolutely no problems at all out of curiosity I love this OS I really do The only problem I have is that when I open or close certain programs I get an unavoidable 'black screen' IE When I get done closing after screen programs. Black certain watching some Death Note in Windows Media Center full screen and I decide to close it occasionally it will close and just go blank My monitor doesn't Black screen after closing certain programs. detect that it's been turned off or that there's a problem So I'll do what a lot of people do and ALT-CTRL-DEL Black screen after closing certain programs. once or twice to try and bring up that screen No luck The only time I can retrieve everything and save my data before shutting off my computer is if I have an unfinished word document and when I press my power button the screen comes back on and Black screen after closing certain programs. viola I see windows again It then asks me if I want to save my work click cancel I can resume my Windows enjoyment Well because I press the power button and Windows wants to shut down it closes out of some services and other programs so I'm limited barely but limited to what I can do It is not only WMC that causes this I play Combat Arms in full screen and occasionally when the program opens into it's full-screenness it will black screen and I can still hear the music so the computer isn't crashing or when I exit the game For a bit I thought it was just when I play stuff in full-screen and my video card gives out So I open Game Maker and I attempt to make a game every now and then I save my work throw my project into a test play and everything works out It begins in windowed and so I don't screw anything up I leave it that way Well I came here because that was the last thing I did Close out of a windowed game that probably took barely if any video ram I know it takes some but old computers' on-board VGA adapters would have no problem running the program I made and I get 'black screen' after closing that Out of being piss off'd yes piss off'd I go to the ATI website and download the latest Vista drivers for my Radeon X video card Got the drivers nothing special happened Still get an occasional black screen Got one of the forms of the Catalyst driver thing I don't know what they are so I just install them and still nothing I know that there is a sticky in this forum for the drivers and I already have the drivers linked here So I tried the bit link getting catalyst stuff and I'm presented with the first download link being for -bit computers only Why is it in the -bit page I even look at the URL and somewhere up there is says vista- sumin' or something along those lines So what the heck Downloaded it Now in its installation keeps telling me quot This program has stopped working quot quot This program has stopped working quot all throughout the installation process Now with all of that said and I apologize for you who actually took the time to read all that can anyone help me Thank you I never had this problem with Windows XP Not claiming it's better or complaining Just adding on that maybe Windows installed a wrong driver

My system has been stable for many years, most recent HW change was addition of SSD about 1 year ago. Now maybe a month ago I started getting BSOD's. Always the same error code: BCCODE 50 0x00000050. These would occur when closing programs (such as games, chrome) or when alt-tabbing. After the start of these crashes, I updated some drivers, but that had no effect.

I have ran Windows memory tester for couple times about 5ish hours and it's had no errors. Also I have run chkdsk on all disks and no errors.

Attached is the dump from most recent crash.

Thanks in advance!

A:BSOD when closing programs 0x00000050

Can you roll back your graphics driver as we've had quite a lot of issues with these latest ones.
Roll back through the device manager.

   Warning

Before changing drivers, make sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there are no points, make a System Restore Point Manually.

To roll back using Device Manager do the following:Go to Start
Type Device Manager
Expand your Display Adapters
Right click on your graphics card
Click on the driver tab
Then click roll back driver

Stress test your graphics card with Furmark

I recommend running it for around 30 minutes

   Warning

Furmark will increase the temperature of your GPU rapidly so keep and eye on your temperatures

Hello this is my first post here and hopefully I won't have to make many more even though this site is great I usually can fix my own problems with computers but right now I'm stumped so I hope you guys can help Whenever I open a media program WMP etc it runs fine at a normal CPU but when I close the media program the CPU spikes up Spike Programs Media After Closing CPU to and hovers there until I end the process with the task manager even though Media Programs Spike CPU After Closing the actual window of the program has closed Also if I open two of the programs then close them both they will both use up nearly CPU a piece leaving nothing extra The media programs that I have experienced trouble with so far are WMP Zune and Winamp The process WLXQuickTimeControlHost exe also seems to jump to that CPU mark whenever I even touch a folder containing a mov or gp file I am currently running XP w SP all of the softwares mentioned are their latest versions I recently Media Programs Spike CPU After Closing added GB of RAM to the GB I already had this was before the problem started to occur but I found it odd that the programs only spiked to CPU EDIT The only real thing I've tried to do is run a reg scan but it didn't help Any help would be appreciated Thanks

A:Media Programs Spike CPU After Closing

Hi kstater7 and welcome to TSF !

Try to uninstall quicktime and any codec pack you could have installed and install the K-lite codec pack (standard version shoud suffice, make sure you install ffdshow) and quicktime alternative instead. See if it helps.

See if using media player classic (included in K-lite) or vlc to play your media files shows the same behaviour.

When I load up a big program (one that uses lots of CPU percentage) it closes after loading for a few seconds. This happens with iTunes and Football Manager 2005, It used to happen with CM 03/04 too. I have to re-install every time and its getting really annoying. Is there anyway i can stop this without formatting ect?

Thanks

Post your system specs...it's possibly a memory related issue. It could also be an issue w/ inadequate cooling.

Hey guys When I'm running a program such as MSN it randomly auto-closes in an instant The same goes for programs such as Windows Media Player Whilst playing a song it auto-closes and the music stops A program that also auto-closes is Microsoft Word When I try and type something for an assignment it closes automatically and I can't really restore what I type only if I save it like seconds every time as it closes every seconds approximated and I have to open it save it again then it NMIndexStoreSvr.exe Programs Auto-closing and closes and so on Has anyone had the same problem before Is there anyway to fix it If so Programs Auto-closing and NMIndexStoreSvr.exe how Is it due to a virus I have scanned my computer with Norton Antivirus and Norton Security Scan and everything seems fine And also I get an error called NMIndexStoreSvr exe and it tells me to debug send error report and don't send in a window It randomly pops up when I turn on my computer When I googled it it said it had something to do with the nero burning software I followed a procedure by going into start gt run gt msconfig gt startup and unticking the nero check box I clicked apply and closed everything and the computer restarted But the erorr continously keeps popping up as I am closing it right now So if I can fix the problem of the main programs MSN Messenger Windows Media Player Microsoft Word auto-closing and the NMIndexStoreSvd exe it would be greatly appreciated Thanks for reading I'm not really good with computers and all the specs so take it easy for me lol

Hi. I've been getting a BSOD crash intermittently when I close programs like Mozilla Firefox or Starcraft and Counterstrike: Source. The only thing I remember seeing from the BSOD is Quota_Underflow. I turned off the automatic restart just now. I downloaded the .exe file in the sticky but I'm not sure how to get the log from the BSOD.

Would really appreciate the help.

So I can't open malwarebytes and it won't let me open some programs. I tried renaming mbam.exe, also tried opening it in safe mode, both not working. Also in IE and Firefox (not in Opera) google links will get redirected. It's really irritating me so help me please!!

Hello, I've been having a very odd problem and this is extremely rare as it has never happened before. Every time I start up or close most programs IPconfig.exe starts up and then disappears and I have honestly not a clue why.

Hey this might sound noobish but i'm getting into programming in C++ and i'm going through these tutorials on this book and whenever I compile and run something, the command line application closes almost instantly after it runs, I'm pretty sure it's not my code because I wrote a simple code to find the area of a rectangle and the answer pops up for less than a second. I'm using visual C++ Express edition. Please help xD

A:Solved: Visual C++ Programs Closing

These sound like console apps.
If you are running in the debugger - just put a breakpoint on a line at the end.
If there is a "return 0;" statement -- use it.
You could also run these from the cmd prompt in the folder that the exe is produced - or you could program in a pause or whatever

A:Odd effect when opening / closing programs

Welcome Jim
Possibly a clean boot will help dignose.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
Does not sound like a problem caused by anything that you did.
Many times extraneous information helps to confuse rather than help.

-When I open Windows Media player it says
"An internal application error has occured"
-When I open programs like SYSTEM RESTORE, or AVAST VIRUS SCANNER it says
"System restore application/avast has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

When I open my videogames/steam it auto closes also..

It seems like a virus or something is stopping my computer programs from opening. I did a malwarebytes scan and it didnt detect anything. I cant do an avast scan or system restore cause it wont allow.. What should I do from here :( that can fix this without erasing my hard drive or reformatting? Thanks so much! I didnt know there were forums like this! Hopefully it will help!

Hi
I have been having some problems with my laptop. I have a Sony xperia z and need to update its software but whenever I load the program it uses to manage files on it- Sony pc companion- Windows will pop up a little window saying its not responding withing a few seconds of it loading and closes the program. I try this with a few other programs and this is a re-occuring problem with quite a few of the ones i tested. Sony pc companion isnt a resource intensive program at all and i have nothing else running at the same time. I ran AVG just in case but nothing showed up.

ANY HELP WOULD BE MASSIVELY APPRECIATED!

Thanks

Problem which Kodak tech support cannot solve:
Kodak DCS Pro SLR/n digital camera working connected with computer Pentium 4 Windows XP using Kodak Camera Manager software.
Connection between camera and computer via Firewire IEEE 1394 Device in the mode where computer (via Kodak Camera Manager software) controls Camera and uploads the images.

Crash has 2 "flavors" but all of them happen when camera shutter release shoots many shots without waiting of the previous shot to be uploaded to computer.
1st crash - is total system reboot.
2nd crash - only Kodak Camera Manager crashes and then when restarted the program, it still does not work until I reboot the system.

In short: when many shots/images accumulate forcing overflow over the IEEE 1394 Device, either Camera Manager crashes or system reboots (which might also be caused by Camera Manager).
Please help.

Thanks.
