I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Does anyone have a clue if it is possible to run an ultrawide 3440x1440 monitor via P50 HDMI port.

I have dual graphics - AMD RADEON R9 M265x and INTEL HD 4600. Not sure which one does the HDMI output on the p50-b. I think the Radeon has 2gb DDR5 if this is important.

I am not planing on playing games, I would like the wide screen for productivity - word, spreadsheets, drawings, charts, diagrams etc. - multitasking.

I will be buying from tiger direct, because i have 50 bucks off my next purchase there. I am leaning toward the viewsonic, because of the higher resolution, and also it has a 30 dollar rebate, but the acer is a little bigger, and my friend has one, so i know the picture is pretty good. Any suggestions would be great, and thanks in advanced.

Hi,

Looking at buying this monitor;

http://ebuyer.com/customer/products...ful&filter_category=&filter_string=&offset=10

has anyone had experience with this brand or this monitor, price is very cheap but specs are very good so i'm slightly dubious about buying. The reviews on the website are entusiastic but not particularly professional. I play games a lot, and use photoshop so I need a pretty good monitor. In regards to this will games play perfectly at 1280 x 1024 despite it being widescreen.

A friend suggested that Samsung maybe a better choice.

Thanks for help.

okay, i want to set my system up for dual monitor support. i have an amd64 3000+ and 1.5 gb ram blah blah blah. i know i could buy a new card with 2 outputs. can i keep my current geforce4 agp and buy a pci videocard for the second monitor? this setup will have me running 2 videocards for each monitor. is there some conflict issue with this or would it be easier to pony up for a new card?

I picked up a Samsung SyncMaster 930b at a GoodWill near my home, it seemed in great condition when I picked it up, plugged it in at the store, turned right on, Digital popped up in the corner, I thought everything was fine.
Got home, hooked it up to my laptop through a DVI-HDMI cable, the desktop popped up, for about a second, then the screen went black. Now I can only get anything to display when I press the button to switch between Analog and Digital, it will pop up for a second when it switches to digital but then it shuts off again.
I even tried it on an raspberry pi I have and the same thing happened. Unfortunately though I dont have a VGA cable to see if maybe its just the DVI connection. Any advice from anyone or has anyone experienced this before and is it fixable?

also, I think not all video connections are supported by a dvi-hdmi adaptor (?).

Hello, I am using the HP advanced wireless dockingstation with an Elite X2 1012 G1. The highest resolution I seem to be able to display on an external monitor seems to be 2560x1440. Is that the maximum possible? I have a wide Monitor with 3440x1440 pixels. Using the thunderbolt 3 dock, the Elite X2 is able to drive that monitor but not with the wireless dock. Best case I am trying to connect this 3440x1440 and an HD TV with 1920x1080 at the same time. Should that be possible? Thanks,Dirk

Somewhat of a dumb question I guess. I was asked by a friend to build him a very basic system. Actually for what he plans to use it for (internet, email, work processing) and his budget, I doubt I can build it for less than the latest Dell or similar "bargain". Is there a motherboard manufacturer somewhere between the good ones I usually use like ASUS or Abit and the other end of the spectrum like PC Chips?

I received an E-mail selling XP pro for $39.95. What's the catch. The reason I'm looking is I have 3 computers, one with Windows 95, one Windows 98, and my latest with XP. The one with W95 has my business QuickBooks on it and they are forcing me to go to the latest version (2004). Except it won't run on W95. I must go to W98 or later. What is my most economical & prudent way to go here, probably should go Xp since W98 won't be supported for long. I've never had to change Operating systems on an exisisting computer, what are the pitfalls? Sorry for the multiple questions but they are related.

A:A Cheap 600$ Rig or Less?

You can't use an Intel motherboard for an AMD processor, so you will need a new motherboard OR an Intel CPU and DDR2 RAM - older generation of both. Better to sell your parts and buy a new motherboard.

Otherwise looks OK, I'm sure someone will criticize the Cooler Master PSU as they aren't the best quality units, plus you didn't specify what wattage it was; I'd probably recommend going for a Antec or Corsair PSU with at least 500 watts.

What site are you getting the prices from?

I am thinking of upgrading my desktop's memory configuration from 512 MB to 768 MB, with an extra stick of RAM I got from a computer with a fried motherboard. RAM Specs match so there are no compatibility issues

is it most likely that this RAM is damaged or will damage my desktop's motherboard? is this wise?

A:Cheap Way to Get RAM

First of all just because the specs are the same does not mean it is going to work. The days of being able to throw in just about any ram that would fit and have it work are long gone.

For this reason, ram mfg have compatibility checkers on their web sites. You input your motherboard and it will show you compatible ram chips.

Next is the ram damaged? The only way you are going to find out is to install the ram in a known working system and see.

Well based on the information I would not say the PSU is an issue unless its a really poor quality one. Mostly if something is wrong with the PSU it would not result in FPS dips and more likely power off or freezing among other symptoms. The noise is likely coil whine which is a fairly common thing in all honesty but the drops could be related to a specific setting in game.

I would check your driver version first and get the latest if you do not and also download a program to monitor what your card is doing in game as that could lead to more answers. A good program could be MSI afterburner for such a task.

A:Cheap(er) SSD's on the way

Probably first step towards making SSDs more mainstream devices. However, there is a caveat in making such buying decisions and i.e. I think you shall buy when you actually need that damn piece of hardware instead of waiting and timing your decision according to market.

Now, having said that defining 'need' is difficult, but usually our needs are driven by size of our wallet

My friend said it is bad because of the fact that it has integrated gpu. I plan to get a hd 5750 video card for my computer.

He gave an argument like this
it's a 3GHz processor, if 800MHz is dedicated for the integrated GPU
then that processor now becomes a 2.2GHz processor
even if you put a video card in
that processing power has been allocated to serve as a GPU
and not as a CPU
is this true?

Hi,

I run a family computer with Windows XP Professional. It has 256Mb of Ram, 40GB hard disk and 1.7Ghz processor. It is mainly used for web browsing. It is not used for games.

It is very slow these days and I think that is down to the size of modern applications.

For roughly 100GBP (180 USD) I can buy a second hand machine from Ebay with 1Mb of Ram, 80Gb hard disk and 3GHz processor. How can I get a handle on whether this will solve my problems for the time being?

Thanks,

upgrade the ram on your computer and maybe check your hard drive, if it's going bad, get a new one. you'll be looking at ~$60 US for a gig of ram and maybe another ~$50 for a new hard drive. saw a recertified 40GB maxtor on Newegg for $19.99 this morning.

take care of what you've got, don't waste the $180 on a newish, but still underpowered machine. that'd be my advice.

I have never heard of the brand. I know nothing about the drives. They are refurbs and there is only a 30 day warranty.

Nonetheless, 250 Gigs for $91 is attractive if you have an application where you are willing to take the chance

There are a whole slew of other drives of this brand available on Ubid.com right now.

I buy a lot of stuff on Ubid and have never had any trouble.

Well I upgraded my main computer with new RAM. So I would like to upgrade my backup computer with probably 2GB, since it only has 2 slots. It's XP and the ram I have left is too small but fits in it. It's DDR 266MHz, so I'm guessing PC2100. Does anybody know of any online sites that might have it for a pretty decent price? Preferably under $30. I looked on Ebay but the sellers don't have feedback that I'd agree with. Thanks...

A:Looking for a cheap deal

Best if you clarify whether you need LCD type or CRT....
LCDs are like laptops have, very thin lightweight monitor.

CRTs can be flat, too- but are still the old tube type.
Average price for LCD like a Dell 17"===$450 last I looked.

hi all, I want to buy a nas as some kind of backup and/or storage device.

I am really struggeling when it comes to backup and you can never be sure.... its always the same question in my head. what happens if the backup device is broken and do I need a backup of a backup?
I am addicted to make everything 110% sure

however, it should be between 1 and 2 tb and not too expensive. are there any recommendations for cheap but reliable devices?
How about a solid state drive? are there bigger ones that are not as expensive as if they were made of gold?

thanks for your input!

Firstly, I would like to apologize if this topic is wrongly placed. I couldn't find an appropriate forum for marketing/retail.

I am looking to purchase a 'server' for my LAN, but I want it to be as cheap as possible (to be honest, it's nothing heavy duty - it could even have 512 MB RAM and a really old CPU). The only requirements are to be able to run Windows Server 2008 (R2 (64-bit) would be ideal, but not mandatory), and to have a wireless NIC. When I say 'server', I just mean the operating system - it could be a server, desktop, or laptop, it doesn't really matter to me. The budget is upto 150.

The main purpose of this server will be to run a small active directory.

Does anybody have any recommendations for stores/products? Thanks for the help.

A:Any cheap retailers?

Windows Server 2008 R2 starts at over $1,000 so that pretty much blows your budget.

Hi there I can get a decent HP ProLiant micro server with bays for around EUR A cheapish decent NAS box costs around NAS box microserver use HP cheap or the same I'm thinking of using the server as NAS box or use cheap HP microserver an alternative to a NAS box -- I can install my own OS I'll use a Linux distro for this and it's reasonably customiseable Power consumption on the server would also be minimal so suited ideally to Multi-media serving I like the idea of using an OS I'm familar with rather than things like QNAP on NAS boxes Any disadvantages in going this route as opposed to using a NAS box HPE ProLiant Gen G T GB RAM MicroServer - Ebuyer Update -- after a lot of googling etc I've ordered the Server -- with an extra TB drive I already have and GB RAM total cost around GBP - EUR A decent NAS box costs around the same BEFORE populating with HDD's extra memory What I like particularly about this server is that you can use the ODD bay for an SSD and also for Linux GRUB to boot from an external USB stick or even the built in SD card - You don't need to boot a server very often once its up and running Hopefully Air freight from Amazon UK to Isl should deliver in the next two days so looking forward to getting it working Boot options can disable RAID too so makes for a great equivalent NAS saystem Will post back my efforts later -- W systems can access PLEX etc on Linux boxes I like also that it's got a router also so I can use as an Internet gateway for guests etc Much more flexible than a bog standard NAS and cheaper too Am surprised others haven't gone down the quot Small Micro quot server route Note - it comes with NO OS supplied so you have to install your own --and it does work with Windows so I'm reliably informed - as well as certified for SUSE and RED HAT so it should work with most decent Linux distros too if you want to use those Cheers jimbo

A:NAS box or use cheap HP microserver

Jimbro:

What are you using the server for? Any particular application in mind?
I am looking at whether go with a server or NAS approach. If I go the route of server, most likely using Microsoft Server. That is my area of expertise. At the same time, the ease of QNAP is particular attractive to me. I am researching this model:
QNAP TVS-671

TVS-671-i5-8G:
TVS-671 with Intel? Core?i5-4590S 3.0 GHz quad-core processor and 8GB DDR3 RAM

Regardless what approach I take, it will be interesting! Must clear with my wife first! It will be in the area of $2,500.00 or $3,000.00 USD.

I have my system just as I like it - fully personal.

easy enough - you can change your sounds in control panel, wallpaper in display options - along with font and general tab colour etc, change your icons in properties for that icon or display props and your mouse curser in control panel.

If your unsure how to make any of the changes, feel free to ask. Some great links for those stuff are:

I can't talk for everyone but I can tell you that I had a cheap router and a lot of users at my house. I found that doing things like streaming movies I would a lot of lagging and picture freeze ups. I was resetting the router at least once a day to clear it out. I was sick of it. Back last Christmas I got myself a gift and spent a ton of money for a home router. Its a ASUS RT-AC3200. The prices have come way down now. It is still a lot of money but it works great and I have no problems with everything connecting with it.https://www.amazon.com/RT-AC3200-Tri-Band-Wireless-Gigabit-Router/dp/B00S9SGNNS/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1472236670&sr=1-7&keywords=asus+routerCan you get away with a cheaper router? Sure you can. I am sure if you were to see how many users and all the other things with picking out a router you could get away with something cheaper. That's up to you. If you want to tell us a little about your setup we maybe able to help.

That would be the H61 chipset, they have less features than boards with H67, P67, or Z68 chipsets. One of the biggest differences is the single PCIe x16 card slot with only two other card slots. If the board has everything you would need, there is no reason why you wouldn't buy it.

Hello, first of all excuse me if i post this in the wrong section of the forum,if it's a issue then remove my post or move it .I'm looking to buy a cheap GPU, nothing to great but ok enough to hold it's own.

I've narrowed it down to these two : Sapphire Radeon R7 260X and the Palit GTX 750 Ti. The test indicates that the Radeon is slightly better and besides that it's actually cheaper also.I only used nvidia cards so far,to see the amd one surpass the nvidia in quality while offering at a smaller price also makes me a bit suspicions. What card should i chose between these two ? Or would you guys recommend another one at this price range ?

A:Looking for a cheap GPU,help me decide

I would recommend the 750ti. it draws very little power, and has a good amount of performance. You really can't relay on artificial benchmarks because real world results will vary. id consider both cards to be about even in performance, and with the lower power draw I'd go 750ti.

A:Fast and Cheap

Yeah well for $200 dollars you can buy a Pentium III used off Ebay. $200 isn't much for building a fast computer. A fast computer would go from a price range of at least $500-$5000. You cannot do much with $200 in terms of buying a good PC. A CPU dual core at 3.4 GHz is about $250 off Ebay brand new. So Used would be like $150; that is if you are lucky to find it for that price. BTW how old are you?? I'm 15

Has anyone had any experience with any of these models?

I need a cheap ups, basically all it has to be capable of is keeping a single PC running when the power goes out for 2 seconds.

Where I live, we never get long power outages, it just blinks off and on but it's enough to cause my pc to die. And it takes a good 20 minutes for my pc to reboot with all the disk checks performed on reboot after it's been powered off improperly, like happens during a power outage.

Basically I'm looking for the cheapest ups I can find...

Any recomendations?

I wanted to bring this question to you all first before I searched the internet.

Where's the cheapest place you brought hardware? What's the cheapest price you've seen for hardware?

I'm looking for a new hard drive, some more RAM, and a CD burning drive (CD-R or CD-RW. What's the difference between the 2?). We can possibly go all out and get a CD-DVD player/recorder/whatever drive, but for now I just want a CD-R.

The only possible problem is that I'm running on windows 98. Not second edition, the first. Regular 98. I was looking at some drives in Circuit City, and all of them wouldn't go as low as 98.

The budget I'm using is 500 dollars.

Any specifics would be nice.

I am seeing CPU coolers on ebuyer for ?8-15 are they an good?

A:how cheap can i get a CPU cooler for?

Probably not. They may be better then stock, but not much. Have a look at the COOLER MASTER Hyper 212+ or COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Evo. Both excellent, low price coolers.

Hello everyone! I've been browsing the internet looking for sites with decently priced ink cartridges, compared to the $60 I usually have to shell out at the store. However, some of the ratings for these sites are throwing me off. I'm concerned I might end up purchasing a defective cartridge and have to go through the hassel of a return. So I'm just hoping you guys might have some favorite sites for purchasing ink cartridges? BTW, I have an Deskjet 812C HP printer.

And is there a huge difference, in terms of quality and # of prints, between a new cartridge and a remanufactured one?

Hi guys.
I am in the need of a portable device for university and I decided to get a windows tablet so I thought you could maybe help me on chosing one?
Screen: Between 8 and 10 inches. I dont care about the resolution tbh, I care about the brightness as I might use it on the street tho.
Specs: Ideally 4gb of ram and no less than a X5 processor.
Also it is essential that it has 3g/4g capability as I have unlimited data on my simcard and I will use it in my tablet.
The best option I have seen so far is the Teclast x98 plus 3g. Any suggestions?
Thank you very much :D

i recently bought a cheap Value Drive or whatever h/d from best buy (they're made by western digital, but much worse. anyway, i put a bunch of mp3 on it, and it was working fine, til it started not letting me delete or add files to the drive. i could still access them, just not edit them in any way. now things have gone way wrong, and it will make this awful noise every once in awhile (sounds like a metal ball bouncing on a metal pan or something) and it will turn the screen black. what should i do? i dont want to lose those files on that drive, and the problem is getting worse! one possible thing im thinking is maybe i have the "slave" or "master" tabs messed up inside there, i didnt really pay attention when doing that part of the install. other than that, i dont know. help!

A:cheap h/d messing up

The drive is going to die, copy what you can off to some other media. When they start making noise like that it's not long for this world.

I got a friend who doesn't really get alot of money and doesnt have a lot of new stuff... Anyway for her birthday i was thinking about getting everyone to put in some money to buy her a laptop... I don't want a second hand one but I dont want one of those really small ones either... It doesnt have to be very powerfull so like 1GB ram would be enough and it doesn't need a good graphics card or anything. Were would be the cheapest place to order online for Australia.

Hi all;
I am looking for a legit copy of Dreamweaver 8 for about $100 or less.
I have seen academic versions (which I believe are the same as the full product, but at a much lower cost) but one must provide credentials to get it. I am not currently enrolled in any college, so that might prove difficult.

All I want to do for now is learn the software, and see if I can get a job as a web developer (freelance I think).

I have found nothing at all in this respect. My 30 day trial has expired, and I hardly even got to use it.
I am not going to spend $300-$400 for the full product when I will probably never use it to make a real web page, or use only for personal site.

I would have no problem paying full price if I was going to use it for work where i get paid!

A:Dreamweaver 8 for cheap?

I couldn't find DreamWeaver on newegg.com, but you could get Microsoft Expression Web for $90 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16832116220). I had used the beta version of Expression, and it was pretty cool.

Hi,
I am thinking of setting up a VPN at home. I have an older laptop that runs Vista and will use that as the battery will act like a UPS so it should stay running all the time, even through power outages.

I have found three sets of software, Comodo Unite, OpenVPN and Hamachi, but they seem to be quasi commercial. They all seem to use an active connection to Their-Homes and I would like to have complete autonomy.

Anyone know of a **simple** set up or a low-cost box (max at around $50) that I can use for our home stuff (three laptops and two Tablets) with a pretty much plug and play?

Searching the Internet finds a lot of options including one with a RasPi, but they all require more technical knowledge than I possess.

Thanks.

A:DIY or cheap VPN box - suggestions?

Not to add more confusion, but some routers contain VPN servers. If your router has this then it will cost $0, a good price! It may be worth a look see...

I have experience in using paid versions of different quality management tools. But my boss asked me to find a cheap one. I have searched in Google but didn't find any freeware tools. Recently I found few reviews of a product called Unipoint quality management software . It seems good but not freeware. Any suggestions from industry experts?

A:Best cheap gaming PC

Your budget is sufficient for what you want. If you have any experience with upgrading a computer, you won't find building it to be that hard. You just gotta get the right parts, one toy have them, they really only plug in one way.
Many here can help you pick out parts that well work together. I'm tied up, so cannot assemble a parts list right now, but am sure somebody will post one before too long. I'd go a nice core i5, 8gb of ram, SSD for OS and games, standard mechanical hard drive for storage, an ati our Nvidia card (whichever you prefer), a solid case (antec, corsair, haf, nzxt), and a power supply around 650watts (corsair, seasonic, pc power and cooling).

does anybody know cheapest and best place to build and buy a gaming pc

A:build pc cheap

If you want to buy the components and build the PC yourself, which is normaly cheaper but harder, the cheapest place to buy good components is Ebuyer:

http://www.ebuyer.com/

If you want to have your PC built for you, Cyberpower is the best choice:

http://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/

Both these places are the cheapest poosible in most cases, and on cyberpower you can fully customise your pc , hope this helps.
