Q: Event Viewer

Could someone please tell me what this means?

Faulting application Ctxfihlp.exe, version 6.0.1.1368, time stamp 0x48eb8330, faulting module ctxfispk.dll, version 6.0.1.1368, time stamp 0x48eb8331, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00003d04, process id 0xfa0, application start time 0x01c9bc2d76115e05.

I was trying to work out why I was getting black squares when I was trying to watch a programme on BBC iPlayer (streaming; not downloading), when I noticed this report regarding an application related to my soundcard.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In a strange turn of events, Nvidia elected to use Epic Games' media event (instead of its own last night) at the Game Developers Conference to reveal its newest flagship graphics card, the Titan X.

A:Nvidia crashes Epic Games' media event, announces Titan X graphics card

Soo... What are the chances of a 6GB "980Ti" variant? A bit like the 780Ti was to the Titan Black?
Because it would be better for games and a hell of a lot cheaper

If the rumor mill is to be believed, the price is going to be $1,349, Most people who buy this for gaming will have no use of the double precision floating point prowess of the card, and the few that would probably should have spent a couple hundred extra bucks to get a proper Quadro!

How serious is this? I'm running on a Dell laptop with a Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller.

It is saying that I should back up all of my important files because of possible hard drive failure.

I have a Dell Studio 1737 Windows Vista Home 64 Service Pack 2. All of my drivers are up to date and I have the most recent BIOS.

I get this error message in my event viewer a couple of time an hour:

Source: ACPI
Event ID: 13

: The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly.

Also, when my computer is unplugged from the AC and running on battery power the system lags a lot and after about 15 minutes its turns off without warning.

I feel like this is all connected. Any advice?

Thank you!

A:DNS client event errors

Easiest approach is to delete the host file
\windows\system32\drivers\etc contains hosts

you need ADMIN privileges
First stop the client by getting a cmd prompt and enter net stop "dns client" (exactly as shown)
now cd to \windows\system32\drivers\etc

del hosts
then recreate it using echo "" >hosts
(that is two consecutive double-quotes without anything between)

now you should clear the event viewer log containing the error and follow up with
net start "dns client"

I have someone who is experiencing random connection problems on the clients such as slow or no connections to mapped network shares. Event id 10009 keeps being recorded in the domain controller logs.

DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer MARK-PC.pmc.local using any of the configured protocols.

It has a range of different computer names within the same events. As far as DCOM is configured it's only setup to use TCP-IP.

Server - Windows Server 2008 Standard FE
System type: 64-bit Operating System

Clients:
24 XP Pro
2 Vista Pro
2 Vista Home (should they be using home in an environment like this?)

I have attached the last 256 logs from Application & System as of yesterday evening at around 5pm'ish. I've checked again this morning and looks like the same error has already been re-occurring.

Can anyone give me any suggestion as to where to go with this?

Thanks.

Sorry I forgot to also mention that the server is acting as a DHCP server and that there router has had DHCP disabled. Client PC'S are set to local static IP'S and are not actually set to obtain if this has any variance.

A:New HDD/XP gets stuck booting, lots of event viewer errors

It appears that you have a nice system, if you can get it back to normal.
We have to suspect other hardware, since two hard drives have similar symptoms... but you may have copied evil stuff from the one drive to the other. How did you transfer files? Or an infestation.
What did you use to scan your system for virus and spyware infestations?
Have you carefully checked your cables... or even tried replacing them temporarily?
Examine all sockets for dirt and debris, and clean your system thoroughly but carefully.
You may need to rule out some things that do not seem part of the problem... as it may be a long and slow process to figger out where the problem is... I would start, if the drive will work well enough, by running MemTest86 for four hours or seven passes, which ever is longer... or removing half the memory to test the other half, then switching.
We always suspect the cables first. They can fail and look good.
Any defective hardware part can cause problems elsewhere if the conditions are right... so I would begin by making a check list, then trading out everything on the list... video card, modem even if not used, ethernet connection or software, .
I would also try another drive and cable... any other drive, even using the first drive, fully reformatted and reinstalled with Windows and basic software....
Windows will not normally cause these of problem, but if you have scratches or smudges that would make it difficult to read, then you could theoretically introduce errors... unlikely though that is.
You could have an optical drive error that is not seeing the software properly.
But it is also possible that your Asus board, good as it is, has a defect.

Hi All;

From time to time on my XP Home SP2 machine I get a "TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts." warning.

I've read the MS Help and Support info, do not have a virus or malware as was suggested in the article and I tried the cmd line: netstat -no proceedure to no avail.

It's not the end of the world and my dsl has no other issues.

I can live with it, but wonder you know of a work-around.

Certainly appreciate any help.

A:Tcpip Warning in Event Viewer/System

Concurrent Session usually are found in your browser or a Torrent client application.
Limits on them are imposed to ensure your system does not drown and lockup due
to excessive connections from ONE application.

Reaching the limit is non-fatal; ie the programs should continue.

My problem started when I upgraded my computer to an Intel C2D, 2GB Corsair DDR2 Memory, Windows XP Pro, two Liteon LH-20A1S SATA DVDRW's, EVGA nForce680i video and Viewsonic flat screen all running on a EVGA NF680i S775 Mother Board.

Sometimes the machine freezes, sometimes not. The error message is: Source: atapi, Type Error Event ID 9, Description: "The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort7, did not respond within the timeout period". (At times I get Event 15 error)

I suspect it has something to do with the two Liteon DVDRW's I have.

Would anyone know if this is a known problem? I have the latest video drivers.

Thanks,

Did you assign the address using Static IP for 192.168.2.200?

What range did you set in the router for IP address? Make sure your using

DHCP
All NIC is set to auto for speed
All NIC is set to auto to obtain the IP (DHCP) from the Router.

Now in the ROUTER are you using any sort of IP filtering:

by IP address
or by MAC address?
Are there any restrictions for this PC in the router?

I have a custom built pc that my friend put together for me. This also has a sound card problem - The sound stops working after a sound has been played more than a couple of times, and the computer might freeze or restart after a while. I know this is the sound card/driver because the computer works fine when i disable the driver. I meant to use this computer for multimedia so i have an asus motherboard with an external echo event gina 20 sound card.
I have tried downloading an re-installing the driver but that doesnt work. I'm guessing something must be configured wrongly, or the driver isnt compatible for some reason.

A:Another sound card problem! echo event

Hi benz925,
i have exactly the same problem than you with a gina 20 and a Asus P5GD2 premium wireless edition Mobo ...;(
For me , that's not a drivers problem , i have install the Gina with the same drivers on another compute with the same XP pro sp2 and it works fine.
I think there are a conflict between mobo and the gina and really i don't know how to fix that.
The more simple is to put the mail i send to echo support ( without any response , not too cool) for explain my problem and all the things i have try to fix it and it will be cool to stay in touch if we find something.
What is the reference of your Mobo please ?
bye

My mail to Echo-support :
Hello Echo, and first sorry for my terrible english, i 'm from France.
I can't make work my gina 20 with my new config and i've try a lot of things and all your latest drivers 6.11, 6.08, 6.05, so perhaps you can help me.
the card still work fine on my olds computers, and also with a more recent config with XP pro sp2 installed by me identically to my compute ( brother's computer )with the 6.11 drivers.
On mine, install is fine with all the drivers versions for W2K/XP and it seems to have no problem on the device manager.
But i have no sound and chaotic problem with all software calling the asio wdm drivers :
no sound, or sometimes white noise
software that crash or not read any audio events
no output level in the console or sometimes all in the red

Softs work fine with the cheap sound card integrated with the mobo ( but cheap sound, lot of latency, not a gina

I've reinstall completely XP ,without the plug&play option in the bios to prevent hardware conflicts, so i don't have any other soundcard (disabled in bios also), no wifi, no lan,no drivers of graphic card, nothing ...

Gina appear on IRQ 21 without sharing or conflict and it's always the same problem ;(

So i just describe my config and perhaps you have an idea to something to test, it will be wonderful :

mobo asus p5GD2 premium (last bios) with chip sound: c-media9880 (same problem with sound chip enabled in bios and not installed)

i just found a tip too review the lastest errors that my computer has encountered............ in dealing with all the mess that i've had troubles.... e.g. http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10796 (mo money(psu)......... mo problems)

anyways... i have about 5 thousand system and application records in the event viewer......... everything from service control manager to save dump to DCOM and workstation errors.......................................................................................................all of which i'm clueless

is that many errors normal...........

oh and they all range within a few days.......... usually only mere seconds apart

A:admin tools/ event viewer???

Fortunately, not all errors in the Event Viewer (EV) are real problems. Actually, many are not problems at all. You can adjust the size of the records that are being held in the EV by right-clicking either Application, Security or System and selecting Properties. You can set the size of each file to keep or clear.

A:Retrieving data from a database with the onmouseover event

I have seen something like what you are looking for. It is called Snap Shots.. You can see it on a live web site here http://www.casahistoria.net/mexico_brazil.htm Just hold the mouse over one of the links on the page and you will see the snap shots. Not sure if it's Java, Javascript or what but it may be what you are looking for,, It seems to be free but you have to register with the company. I have not used it for any of my web sites but it looks pretty good. Here is a link to their main page http://www.snap.com/ Also I found out you can install an add-on for your browser that will allow the snapshots for any web site including google searches and such.

Hello

We have a Server 2003, logged on as administrator account or administrator privilege, Event Viewer allows Save then Clear, but not Clear and save.
From the server,
Event Viewer
Select Application
Clear All Events
Do you want to save ?Application? before clearing?
Yes
Save ?Application? As
Message ?Clearing the event log failed because of the following error:? Access is denied
From the server,
Event Viewer
Select Application
Save log file as
Save
Then Clear, No problem

Any ideas what would cause this? Worked for years Event Viewer Clear, then Save As, but now only save first, then clear

Thanks

A:"Event Log Explorer" tool helps manage/analyze/report on your Windows Event Logs

I use the subscription to EventID.net. It has been greatly helpful. I don't have this analyser but am a big believer in using the Event Viewer. I'll add a description I have written up which will help in determining the Events: This may be useful in addition to the Event Analyzer.

One thing I have not been able to do is keep the filters set with the software in the OS.

Find the Error(s)in the Event Viewer that correspond to the crash/freeze/error message/blue screen, etc.:

Description of the Event Viewer:

Unfortunately, many Windows XP users aren't aware of the Event Viewer, what it is, where it is, how it can help with a problem:
The Event Viewer has logs for everything that happens on the computer. There are three sets of logs: System, Applications and Security. By opening the first two to display the Events, you can look for Errors that correspond to the time of the problem- in your case, the crash.

There are three types of Events in the System and Apps logs:
1. Information (white circle w/blue i): this is just basic documentation of the normal working of the System or Apps.
2. Warnings (yellow triangle w/black exclamation mark) noting some problem at that moment. Warnings usually resolve on their own. If they do not, they become>>>
3. Errors (red circle w/white X- they document something that didn't work or isn't happening as it should. Each Errors has three parts: an ID#, a Source and a Description. By doing a right click> Properties, the Error will open to a screen that can be copied. These three parts taken together can usually lead to cause and resolution.Click to expand...

Start> Run> type in eventvwr
Do this on each the System and the Applications logs:
1. Click to open the log>
2. Look for the Error>
3 .Right click on the Error> Properties>
4. Click on Copy button, top right, below the down arrow
5. Paste here (Ctrl V)

You can ignore the Categories 1 and 2. If you have a recurring Error with same ID#, same Source and same Description, only one copy is needed. You don't need to include the lines of code in the box below the Description, if any.

Sorry for the delay in responding.  I've been working on this for 3 days but my babysitting interfered with it (I've got my grandson for a week!) Your UEFI/BIOS (version FC) dates from 2013.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  If you are able to install the update through Windows (without booting from an external drive), then go ahead and update it.  WARNING - if the computer might shut down during this procedure, please don't do it, as this may physically damage the computer and prevent it from booting.Only 699 mB of available RAM.  Please updgrade your RAM (if the system is capable).  While waiting to upgrade the RAM, please only run one program at a time in order to maintain system performance. Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen both dtsoftbus01.sys and dtscsibus.sys blamed on several occasions). Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration):  New link (15 Aug 2012):  http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).Alternate link:  http://www.disc-tools.com/download/sptdManual procedure here:  http://daemonpro-help.com/en/problems_and_solutions/registry_and_sptd_problems.html AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center.  This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.NOTE:  these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive.  The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a programThen, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from http://www.amd.com (in the upper right corner of the page)Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY:  http://www.sysnative.com/forums/showthread.php/668-ATI-video-cards-DRIVER-ONLY-installation-procedureIf the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item. Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install".  Reboot for changes to take affect.Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's.  If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.Out of 13 memory dumps there were 7 different BSOD  (aka STOP or BugCheck) error codes.  The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case.  Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)- missing Windows Updates- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems- low-level driver problems- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html or http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.... Hi, I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, and on a daily basis the computer loses signal to the monitor . The event view is Kernal Power Event 41 Critical Crash.

The signal loss happened once a few years ago where I removed the video card and it worked again up until the last few months it has been getting progressively worse, so I got sick of removing the card, so I now find if I shut down the power, it comes good after a while.

A:Windows 7 Kernal Power Event 41 Critical Crashes daily

So, let's have a look at this report:

Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).
FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504
While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

While waiting for a reply, please also provide this information (even though you're not reporting BSOD's) so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum):  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/
EDIT:  Presuming that this is a desktop system - check the video card to make sure that the video cooler is clean and free of dust/dirt/hairballs, and that the fan is functioning properly.  DO NOT TOUCH anything inside the case while it's plugged in, and don't touch anything without grounding yourself on the metal of the case if it's unplugged.  If the card is overheating you can get severely burned this way (I got 2nd degree burns doing this with a video card!).

Hey all,
I am having trouble finding information online about the following error in Event Viewer:
Log Name: Application
Source: Application Error
Event ID: 1000
Level: ErrorGeneral Description
Faulting application name: svchost.exe_DiagTrack, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bc3c1
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.18839, time stamp: 0x553e8bfa

Faulting process id: 0x8a4
Faulting application start time: 0x01d08a5f336e38da
Faulting application path: C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
Report Id: 8684482e-f65a-11e4-b0e4-7824afc062a2
I am not suffering any noticeable PC performance issues as a result of this error, but nonetheless, it exists in event viewer and has got me concerned.
Could anybody with troubleshooting experience please offer me some insight into this error? (particularly the meaning of svchost.exe_DiagTrack & ntdll.dll)
Thanks in advance,
Eldar

A:Event ID 1000, Application Error - svchost.exe_DiagTrack, ntdll.dll

How often does this appear in Event Viewer?
My view on these errors is "no harm = no foul"
In other words, if it's not causing you a problem - then it's not worth looking into.

BUT, this is an error with 2 Windows files - so that (to me) is a concern.
The Exception Code of 0xc000000d is "An invalid parameter was passed to a service or function."
I wonder if it's ntdll.dll passing an invalid parameter to svchost.exe - or is there a 3rd party program involved in this somewhere further down the chain?

svchost.exe is a program that hosts other programs running in the OS.
ntdll.dll is NT Layer DLL - the exact definition of this eludes me, but what it is is a core Windows file

As such, it's protected by several different functions in the operating system and is likely not the problem.
This means (to me) that a 3rd party program is most likely involved here.

Now, let's just confuse things with a caveat here....
I'm a kernel specialist.  That means that I work with system level stuff, and tend to avoid the application level stuff (which this is a part of).
As such I'm not all that familiar with it - but I do know enough to cause a bit of trouble.

Finally, how I troubleshoot these sort of errors is by looking a Windows reports and trying to find patterns - or things that just don't fit quite right (such as older drivers, or unfamiliar programs).  Then I experiment with them (mostly by uninstalling and reinstalling them) to see what impact that has on the errors.
But, as I said in the beginning, if it's not causing you problems then I wouldn't worry about it now.
Good luck!

A:BSOD! Event ID:1033 Dumping Physical Memory

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum):  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/

Access denied is because the minidump folder is protected.
To bypass that error, just copy the minidump file to your Desktop
BUT, then you won't have a program to open the minidump file.
It takes a debugger (like Debugging Tools for Windows has)
And then you have to know how to read/interpret/and massage the dump files to get information out of them.

Good luck!

I have a user that has been getting daily blue screens for the past couple of weeks. I did hardware and memory scans and found nothing. The event information that I could find points to some sort of driver problem but not sure what that could be. I have included the last 2 minidump files to see if anyone can point me in the right direction to solving this.

Your issue is with your Symantic security software. particuarly the driver symevent.sys. We have lost count of how often this driver/software has shown up here over the years. Try the following...

You guys are over my head but I don't know who to ask. I have downloaded from the internet powerpoint slides and my notes from my Biology teacher for this semester. I use a shortcut to open these files on my desktop. Now my computer says the shoetcut won't work and my notes and files are gone. I have downloaded a new viewer and that doesn't help. I tried to open my work from the powerpoint viewer program and they won't open. It is just this file. My others open. It worked the last time on March 15. I even restoed my computer to an earlier date. No luck. Any ideas? Need help before my finals. Thanks

A:Powerpoint Viewer problem

Does the file itself still exist?

If the browser is set to open such files with an external application, it may download them to a temporary directory which might be emptied every now and then.

If the presentation exists and is not corrupted, try OpenOffice Impress.

Installed PP Viewer 2007 on machine using Windows XP; use Outlook Express for email. Any .pps file I receive by email refuses to play automatically. The message says I am to go to Folder Options and add an association for the file. I have done that 36 (well, nearly) times. No go.

If I save the .pps file, then play it, PP Viewer works just fine.

Hi maituikas

MS has a big write up of a very similar issue to yours here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897079

I'd say this would be step 1 to do.

Now wouldn't be good if I got it on the first reply to you Here's hoping :grinthumb

Hi,

I used a USB memory stick a few days ago, since using that, my laptop is blue screening.
The error reported is "Event 1003, category 102".

I'd like some help if possible please on how I can fix this issue.

I've completed some research and have uploaded the Minidump file which should help.
The file extension was originally "*.dmp", but I had to rename the extension to "*.txt" to allow it to be uploaded.

Thanks guys, appreciate your support.

I am not aware of any behavioural problems with my desktop computer, which is running Windows XP Home SP3. Whilst idly trawling through its configuration, wondering what to tweak and subsequently regret, I noticed that several times an hour I am experiencing an event 51 as reported in the Event Viewer:

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\D during a paging operation

I have Googled this and it seems quite common - but what does it mean? My drive D is a CDROM reader & writer. I have run a disk check on the hard drive [C:] and it is clear. I also have an external hard disk [E:] via a USB connection.

Not enough information in what you gave ffrom the minidumps. So...

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

How long have you been running your system with this memory?

A:System Error - Event ID 1003

First, we here at TechSpot strongly recommend all XP users to update to SP 3. Microsoft no longer supports SP2 and from a security point it is essential.

Second, both errors are 0xD1 which are usually caused by faulty drivers. In both files they cite the driver iaStor.sys as the cause of your issues.

This iastor.sys driver is the Intel matrix storage manager driver file; once windows loads it's always running anyways if you have a HDD controller that needs it.

It is a necessary file as it blocks windows from starting up when damaged

It is used to control the SATA disks, usually for raid systems but still used in normal single disk setups as well. It should NOT be removed.

* Update your chipset drivers from your PC build manufacture. Make sure you get your model correct.

My computer reboots itself every time it is powered up . Not absolutely predictable when it will do this. It will usually do it itself within 10 minutes of being booted if left alone. It will do it sooner if someone tries using the computer immediately after booting up. Never does it a second time. I cannot recall this commencing with installing any particular hardware or program. Here is the description:

Error code 1000007e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 804fcc49, parameter3 f7a53c94, parameter4 f7a53990.

Error code: 1000007e - From a newsgroup post: "Turns out it was an errant file from the Sonic MyDVD program that I never use. I found this out because whenever it would crash to the blue screen, it mentioned the file tfsnpool.sys. I did a search for that file, checked the properties and found it was put there by Sonic and had something to do with the drive letter. So I renamed the files, which was probably taking a big chance, deleted everything Sonic related and all is well"Click to expand...

Another cause can be the program called Easy file & folder protector. fdcbnt.sys is the culprit. If you have this, try uninstalling the program and see if that resolved the problem.

So with the information given, these are two possibilities.

The minimum Passes for Memtest is 7 and the more the better. 0x8E errors are almost always caused by hardware and is a very strong indicator of corrupted memory.

0x4E: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT is possibly the single strongest indicator of corrupted memory though there may be other reasons.

* Rerun memtest over night and check it in the morning. One other thing you can check through the BIOS is to see if the motherboard has set the RAM voltage to the manufacture's specs.

heres my last 5 minidumps.

can someone please help me.. im so used to having this problem .that i have forgotten what it is like to sit back leisurely and enjoy the pleasure of having a good pc.

A:I been having event error 1003 for three years now

One minidump cited 0xD1 error which are caused by a faulty driver or buggy software. In this one ALCXWDM.SYS was cited which is a driver for Realtec AC'97 audio.

Another 0xD1 is A3AB.sys which is a driver for D-Link wireless network adapter.

A third minidump cited error 0xC2: BAD_POOL_CALLER which means that a kernel-mode process or driver incorrectly attempted to perform memory operations. Typically, a faulty driver or buggy software causes this.

The problem here is it cited the Windows core driver ntoskrnl.exe which isn't much help in analysis.

Your two remaining errors were both 0xA which are caused by IRQ level conflicts. Faulty drivers can be the cause but these errors also point to possible hardware issues. Again, ntoskrnl.exe was cited but also Orb.exe was liusted in the processes.

I suggest the following:

1. Go to your motherboard manufacturer's website, find your particular motherboard and update to the latest drivers offered. This should include your Realtek drivers and possibly your D-Link as well if it came packaged with your motherboard. If not then go to D-Link and update your wireless drivers.

2. Determine whether or not Orb.exe is legitimate or not. There is a malware out there called ORB.EXE and there is a legitimate Orb.exe from Orb Network, Inc. If the latter, update or re-install.

3. Run Chkdsk.

NO functionalities (except maybe rotate)

Just want to browse the photos in Windows Explorer and than open them in a basic viewer.

Who can help me find such a piece of software (preferibly freeware). I googled my *** of but couldn't find it.

Thank You

Try Spybot S&D. In many instances the program will fix registry issues caused by malicious programs. I am not very knowledgeable about windows registry so that is the best advice that i can give you regarding that. Another thing you can try to do is Re-associate the files with windows picture and fax viewer. This is how you do it.

Open Start menu
Click on My computer
When the My computer window opens
Click the tools button on the menu bar
then click folder options on the drop down menu
When the folder options window opens click the tab that says file Types
From there you can associate any image file you want to win pic & fax viewer.
Just scroll until you see the the image extention Such as; jpg, Gif,Png or Bmp
Clicking on the extention should show you what program opens the files.
you can change this by selecting the change button then selecting or searching for the program executable.

This method is a lot easier and safer, as you will not have to navigate the windows registry this utility does it for you.

Hope this is helpful.

I'm looking for a really good "file viewer" utility (or two). One that allows you to open just about any type file, and often read at least some info inside - just to get a sense of what's in it, if nothing else.

I've use FileAlyzer by SaferNetworking (Spybot). It's OK, I guess, but don't have much to compare it to.

about 3 weeks ago, i decided to make an effort to monitor the info in the event viewer. the errors that existed were reviewed by experts and dismissed as harmless. this is a new error message that i wish to have reviewed in the same way. see the screenshot that i've included.
is this error something that i should be concerned about? if so, is there anything i can do to fix it? knowledgeable members please.
thanks again.

A:a new error in event viewer (screenshot)

DataStore is used by WIndows updates. Looks like Automatic Updates tried to open the database file and found it already opened by something else.

It could be just a glitch in the updates system or maybe you did something like being on the WU page and starting the AU service.

I'd say you can ignore it for now. If these keep coming back, start looking for problems.

Hello there,

I desperately need help. I am working on my honours thesis and my computer keeps crashing.

I have checked the event viewer. I have a system error with Category (102) Event ID 1003 Code 1000007f. I tried attaching Minidumps <100kb but I received an error.

As per auhma.org: 0x0000007F: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

One of three types of problems occurred in kernel-mode: (1) Hardware failures. (2) Software problems. (3) A bound trap (i.e., a condition that the kernel is not allowed to have or intercept). Hardware failures are the most common cause and, of these, memory hardware failures are the most common.

So, 0x7F errors can be due to several things and corrupted memory is the most common. You will need to run MemTest on your RAM www.memtest.org Any errors and you have RAM that needs to be replaced.

How much RAM do you currently have, i.e., sticks? Since Memtest takes a long time and you are with time constraints try this: Take out one stick of RAM and see if that brings stability. If not switch out your RAM sticks.

* When you say you have errors with the minidumps what do you mean? You can zip up to 5 together in compressed format and attach to your posting.

* I strongly suggest you back up all of your hard work just in case.

I just released the first version of a little proggie that might be useful to some of you if you're into 3D modeling

More information on my website : Click here

See you around

P.S. Feel free to post any comments/suggestions about it here

A:Browz 3D fast model viewer

Looks like a very handy utility. Can it load texture maps onto the models? This would be very handy for editing texture and transparency maps. It is a pain to edit a map, then have to load a 3D app just to test the seam fit.

There was a similar program a couple of years ago but its cost outweighed its usefulness. I also don't think it is available anymore so your proggie should prove very useful.

I'll be sure to let you know how it works out for me.

**Have you distributed this tool to the 3D community, Renderosity and the 3D Commune both have download sections that accept submissions. You may already know of them but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Hi all,

I am running a Dell Dimension 4600, P4 2.66 GHZ, 4 GB RAM (4 sticks), DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, 200GB Maxtor (bought in 2002 - unused until 5 days ago), 120 GB WD, 350W PSU (I believe).

Ever since I installed Windows 7 5 days ago, I've been dealing with BSODs and a bunch of errors in event viewer.

I've attached some dump files for anybody that knows how to read them. I got them from the Minidump directory.

I also have a summary of the BSODS.

What could be causing this? Low PSU? Bad mobo? I've ran memtest86 (no errors) but not on the individual sticks. EDIT: I tested each stick of RAM individually and I got no errors.

Thanks for your help.

I read the five most recently dated minidumps and all are the same error code 0x0000007F: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
One of three types of problems occurred in kernel-mode: (1) Hardware failures. (2) Software problems. (3) A bound trap (i.e., a condition that the kernel is not allowed to have or intercept). Hardware failures are the most common and, of these, memory hardware failures are the most common.

Your issue is with your Avira security software.

One file cited the Avira firewall TDI driver avfwot.sys as the cause of your system crashes.

The remaining four all cited the Avira Packet filtering kernel driver avfwim.sys which belongs to their product Antivir Workstation as the cause of your system crashes.

You could try the following:

1. Uninstall and reinstall your Avira softwware.

2. Update all things Avira.

3. Contact Avira and let them know of your crashes, that your minidumps were read, and give them the drivers specifically cited as the cause. I believe they also have an active community.

* Also, in the future please use the Zip option provided here. It will be easier for all of us. Thanks.

Hi as I mentioned in the title my PC restarts randomly, usually it's infrequent, but today it restarted twice when I clicked Delete an email. This is what is showing in Event VIewer

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000008e (0xc0000005, 0xbd0d20a2, 0xb1720304, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini092211-01.dmp.

CPU: Intel P4 3.0Ghz
Motherboard: Asus P5GD1 - UAYO
Ram Speed, size and #sticks: 4 Kingston DDR Ram 3200 512MB each
GPU: Nvidia Geforce 7800 GT
PSU (do not leave this out): PC Power and Cooling 700 Watts
OS: Windows XP SP3

Hopefully someone knows exactly what is the problem from those encrypted bugcheck errors.

A:Random PC restarts bugcheck event ID 1001

Your error code is 0x8E and these are almost always caused by hardware (and a good indicator of bad RAM) but sometimes they can be due to faulty drivers.

In your case the Nvidia driver nv4_disp.dll was specifically cited as the cause of your crash.

I suggest doing the following...

1. Go to our Download section and click on Utilities and then download Driver Sweeper 3.1 to your desktop screen and install.

2. Download the latest diver(s) for your video card but don't install them.

3. Uninstall your video card drivers and reboot your PC into Safe Mode. Run Driver Sweeper and remove ONLY the video card drivers. I had someone use it on their chipset drivers! If it doesn't find any video card drivers that is quite okay; just leave all other drivers alone.

4. Reboot and install new video card drivers.

I donloaded Windebug to tyr and read the minidump files but it keeps telling me my sybol path is not correct an it wont debug the dump file.

Hi,

The crashes are consistent and I believe that it is device driver error. Zip 2 to 3 minidumps to a zip file and attach it here. Techspot has an upper limit of 100K per attachment. I will study the dump and find out the culprit.

You can find the minidumps at the folder c:\windows\minidumps

I believe your problem is caused by faulty ram.

Go HERE and follow the instructions for testing your ram.

A:winxp show Blue Screen and Restart (event id 1003 system error)

It looks to be a hardware problem. Have you added any new hardware lately, e.g. RAM? Any overclocking?

You've also got a Norton file left over. You need to make sure all remnants of Norton are removed.

I have a compaq that has an event error 1003 keeps occuring. I have been looking on the web and cannot find a solution. Also I am just learning how to debug...

A:event 1003 (102)

If your machine is otherwise working O.K. at least you can still operate. Check the exact times of these errors and see if you put the puzzle together. It has to be stemming from the same cause (most likely). Eventually you will narrow it down. Any new software lately? Does it occur only at bootup?

System:
Windows XP Pro SP2
AMD Athlon XP 1800 (1.53 GHz)
512 of ram

My system sometimes restarts and I got this in the event viewer:
Event ID: 1003, Category: 102, Source: System Error
Error code 100000d1, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 f3afec04.
The BSoD error is about "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

I tried to find a solution by reading all the posts that deal with event ID 1003 and HTTP.sys but nobody has the "HTTP!UlIsLowNPPCondition+55" that I've seen in the minidump files...
I've already run a 10 passess Memtest86+ test and there's no RAM error...

So I am appealing to the forum to see if anybody could help/save me.

A:Random restarts - event id 1003

All logs (except 1) go to HTTP.sys
Usually you are also given Error logs in Start > Run > c:\windows\system32\logfiles httperr logs?
You might need to check that out

Also one Minidump went to klif.sys (Kaspersky) But the file mentioned was: NotMyfault.exe (Driver Bug test program)

Since you are trying to "test" your drivers, I would highly recommend you update to SP3 as a better option

Hello,

My machine here at work started recently going through a frequent reboot cycle (maybe once an hour) and also constantly getting an Error Report of "The system as recovered from a serious error". Sometimes, I can click "Don't Send" and 2 seconds later it pops back up. I have run Chkdsk to recover any disk errors (and there were some) but this hasn't resolved the issue.

I was wondering if I could get some help reading the memory dumps? I'm trying to figure out how to interpret these, but so far have not found much. Attached are some of the most recent dumps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:Help with XP Memory Dump Files (System Error Cat 102 Event ID 1003)

All five minidumps report error 0x00000035: NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS
In theory, this is a driver or other software issue, which encounters a stack problem. In practice, it has historically pointed to a driver problem and also occurs when RAM itself is flawed.

All five point to the same Symantec driver symevent.sys as the cause of your issues.

* This driver appears here a lot and we have lost count of the number of people that have had issues with Symantec/Norton. Your options are the following:

1. Update Symantec

2. Uninstall and reinstall.

3. Completely uninstall and go with much better solutions. If you decide to go this route be aware that Symantec/Norton are notoriously known for leaving remanants of itself behind and causing issues with a system. It is such a problem that Symantec had to create a special Removal Toll for each and every version they have. It is to be used after you do a normal uninstall.

* Also, I strongly suggest for security sake to update to Service Pack 3.

Hey Gang,

Recently I began encountering a BSOD problem with Windows XP. Basically the system will start up, and then the BSOD will occur within 30 seconds of Windows starting, forcing a reset. The error looks something like "driver irql not less or equal" and has event ID 1003.

Error code 100000d1, parameter1 0000002a, parameter2 00000006, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 ba6fcafb.

I have included links to a couple of the minidumps produced after the error. Is there anyone out there that can read them and help me identify the culprit? Thanks in advance

If you have not already done so, you might want to take a look in the Microsoft Knowledgebase at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325947 to see if there is anything there relevant to your problem. In the meantime we will be reviewing your dumps.

Thanks for help

A:Windows xp system error category 102 event-id 1003

Not enough information at this point to help. The error is 0xD1 and they are usually caused by faulty drivers but they also can be caused by faulty or mismatched RAM.

Please give us your hardware system specs including make and model of your motherboard, the make, type and amount of RAM you have installed, video card, etc.

Tell us what antivirus software, etc., you are running along with Operating System.

Lastly, when do these BSODs occur, i.e., randomnly, gaming, watching videos, etc.?
